Last month, Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 1803 – a measure folded into California's existing sexual harassment training mandate – requiring every employer with five or more workers, including every church in the state, to add "anti-hate speech" training by January 1, 2028.

Forbes and Fox News, summarizing CNN reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere, reported that Abdul El-Sayed recently called left-wing streamer Hasan Piker and warned that Piker’s rhetoric was costing him votes, asking him to stop. The reports attribute the claim to two people El-Sayed told about the call. That places the sourcing at one step removed from El-Sayed, not a recording or transcript. Piker did not respond to requests for comment in those summaries, so the other party has not publicly confirmed the call.
