B’Tselem – The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories strives for a future in which human rights, liberty and equality are guaranteed to all people, Palestinian and Jewish alike, living between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. Such a future will only be possible when the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime end. That is the future we are working towards.

The Israeli president warns that the occupying regime is moving down a dangerous path as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains adamant about implementing a set of highly controversial "legal reforms."

The reforms proposed by the premier seek to rob the Supreme Court of its ability to overrule either the regime's cabinet or Knesset (the parliament)'s decisions. They also seek to empower the MPs to strike down the court's verdicts, and give more say to the cabinet in the selection committee that appoints the judges.

On March 15, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security service said that Lebanon’s Hezbollah may have been behind a recent bombing on a strategic northern Israel highway.

The bombing took place on the Route 65 highway at the Megiddo Junction on March 13. 21-year-old Shareef ad-Din, an Israeli citizen from the Arab village of Salem, was seriously wounded in the attack.

The rocket attack on the U.S. Green Village base was widely seen by observers as a response to the Israeli strikes on Tartus and Hama.

The attack came around a week after General Mark Milley, the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, paid an unannounced visit to an undisclosed base in northeastern Syria. One of the main goals of the visit was to assess safeguards for American troops against attacks.

On Tuesday, March 14, the Israeli Knesset passed a first reading of a new bill that would allow the government to overrule decisions made by the Israeli Supreme Court. The bill also places the authority to declare a Prime Minister’s incapacity to govern solely in the hands of the government or the Knesset, which is currently the most right-wing government in Israeli history.

Most of the Israeli public have been unaware of the existence of the Kohelet Policy Forum or its reach among right-wing parties, and even less of its growing influence on politicians.

Opponents of a controversial judicial overhaul sought by Israel's government demonstrated on Wednesday at Ben Gurion airport ahead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's departure on an official trip to Germany.

A week ago an interesting story surfaced briefly in the news about how the developing Republican presidential candidate bids by Nikki Haley and others had been attacked over the past eleven months by possibly as many as hundreds of thousands of false automated personas, referred to in the trade as “bots,” on Twitter and other internet based social media.

Netanyahu is said to have instructed several government ministers they were not allowed to take meetings in the White House until he had received a formal invitation there himself, amid a months-long snub by President Joe Biden.

Netanyahu issued the directive after receiving requests from ministers who were planning to travel to Washington, DC, Israel’s Channel 12 News reported on Tuesday.
