"If all that Americans want is security, they can go to prison. They'll have enough to eat, a bed and a roof over their heads. But if an American wants to preserve his dignity and his equality as a human being, he must not bow his neck to any dictatorial government." -- President Dwight D. Eisenhower

Itamar Ben Gvir, Israel's far-right national security minister, said Gaza should be under “full Israeli control” and populated with Jewish settlements, suggesting that he himself would move to the war-torn Palestinian enclave.

In an interview with Israeli news outlet Kikar HaShabbat, Ben Gvir said that “encouragement of voluntary emigration” of Palestinians from Gaza was the “last” and “most important step” in achieving Israel’s total occupation.

Webmaster addition: And there is the real motive for Israel's attack on Palestinians.

Israeli forces attacked two hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip as they pushed deeper into the Jabalia refugee camp and increased bombardment of crowded Rafah districts.

Artillery shelling hit al-Awda Hospital, north of Jabalia, which has been under Israeli siege since the weekend.

Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia was also shelled, forcing bed-ridden patients and medical staff to evacuate.

On Monday, the medical team at al-Awda said that snipers were “aiming at the building and an artillery rocket hitting the fifth floor, where the administration department is located,” according to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

“We are deeply concerned about the safety of the remaining patients and hospital staff. We appeal for their protection, for humanitarian access and an immediate ceasefire,” Ghebreyesus said on X.

Ireland and Spain and Norway are expected to announce plans to formally recognize the Palestinian state, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter, amid Israeli authorities' strong opposition to the recognition.

The move was expected to be announced at 8 a.m. during a press conference on Wednesday, led by the leaders of Ireland’s three-party government, namely Prime Minister Simon Harris, Foreign Minister Micheál Martin and Environment Minister Eamon Ryan.

They had earlier signaled the government would make the move to recognize Palestinian statehood by the end of May.

National public broadcaster RTÉ and daily broadsheet newspaper the Irish Times both reported that the decision to do so would be announced at the news conference.

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will also reveal a date for formal recognition on Wednesday, after announcing his intention last week to do so.

European Union members Ireland, Spain, Slovenia and Malta have indicated in recent weeks that they planned to make a recognition announcement.

According to Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung, the presumptive Republican nominee intends to sue the filmmakers behind “The Apprentice,” a film that follows Sebastian Stan as a young Trump creating his real estate empire amid the seedy streets of 1970s and 80s New York City. It co-stars Jeremy Strong from “Succession” as the future president's real-life former attorney and mentor, Roy Cohn.

Cheung revealed that a lawsuit would be forthcoming over “blatantly false assertions.” In the film, Stan is portrayed as raping Maria Bakalova, who plays Trump's first wife, Ivana.

Ivana accused Donald of sexual assault in her divorce deposition, but she later recanted.

It is "scary" even to think about what will happen to the people who destroy churches and persecute believers, Russian Church Abroad (ROCOR) Synod of Bishops Chancellor Archpriest Serafim Gan told Sputnik, commenting on Ukrainian authorities dismantling the chapel of the Tithes monastery in Kiev.

Ukrainian authorities demolished the chapel of Sts. Vladimir and Olga of the Tithes monastery in Kiev during the night from Thursday to Friday.

"It is scary not only to say but even to think what will happen with those who destroy shrines and persecute believers," Gan said.

The priest said that he could not comprehend how anyone could harm a temple of God, especially during challenging times when people are in dire need of spiritual healing.

Anti-Russian sanctions as part of the EU and US Ukraine strategy have "failed entirely", Hungary’s minister of foreign affairs and trade has stated.

Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto has blasted Western sanctions against Russia.

Speaking at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation in Tokyo on Tuesday, he said that his view contradicts the "liberal mainstream" in Europe but is in line with the opinion of the global majority.

Szijjarto recalled that when EU members initially discussed the first package of anti-Russian sanctions more than two years ago, he wondered what the purpose of these restrictions would be. According to him, he was told that the goal was "to push Russia to its knees economically" in order to end the Ukraine conflict.

Last week, Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot four times after a gunman fired five shots in his direction. He was rushed to the hospital where he remains in stable but critical condition. He is expected to survive.

Elements of the Slovak media are starting to whisper about a potential Ukrainian connection to the alleged assassin who attempted to kill Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico last week.

Initially, it was reported that the alleged shooter, 71-year-old pensioner Juraj Cintula acted as a “lone wolf” when he shot the prime minister four times, nearly killing him. However, authorities in Slovakia announced that they are now considering the “more likely” scenario that he was working with a group.

“It seems more likely the attack was coordinated with some group,” Slovak Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj-Eštok said on Slovakian television on Tuesday. “We are working with the fact that it was not a lone attacker, but that something was going on behind it, which we are trying to clarify.”

Russia has placed a satellite in orbit that is likely capable of attacking US spacecraft, Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder has claimed.

The satellite was launched by Moscow on May 16, Ryder told journalists during a briefing on Tuesday.

According to assessments by the Pentagon, the craft in question is “likely a counter-space weapon presumably capable of attacking other satellites in low Earth orbit,” he said. Its characteristics resemble those of “counter-space payloads” deployed by Russia from 2019 and 2022, the spokesman stated.

“Russia deployed this new counter-space weapon into the same orbit as a US government satellite,” Ryder said, adding that the Pentagon will be monitoring the spacecraft.

The US has “a responsibility to be ready to protect and defend... the space domain and ensure continuous and uninterrupted support to the Joint and Combined Force,” he explained. Washington will “continue to balance the need to protect our interests in space with our desire to preserve a stable and sustainable space environment,” according to Ryder.

The change is pending approval by the Swiss government.

Semafor also cited a statement by a forum’s spokesperson, who said that the organization is “transforming from a convening platform to the leading global institution for public-private cooperation.”

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky believes his generals are hiding the truth from him and has taken to shouting at them, The Economist has claimed, citing a government source.

Purported fits of presidential rage were mentioned in a Monday report on the situation in Kharkov Region, where Russian forces have gained significant ground over the last month. According to the British newsweekly, Ukrainian troops deployed there are angry at the development and have competing theories about the causes.

Some blame the US and its allies for insufficient and untimely aid, not unlike Zelensky himself, while others “suspect that incompetence, or even treachery, played a more significant role.” There are also “conspiracy theories” about politicians in Kiev and Washington conspiring to sell the territory “down the river ahead of an ugly peace deal.”

Denis Yaroslavsky, a local commander who made national headlines for complaining that fortifications that were supposed to prevent Russian advances did not really exist, told The Economist that Zelensky “is being kept in a warm bath” – that is, being told comforting lies by his aides.

Some Republicans in Congress are celebrating the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who was killed in a helicopter crash along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and seven others in Iran’s mountainous East Azerbaijan province.

When the news first broke that Raisi was missing, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) wrote on X: “If Raisi is dead, the world is now a safer & better place. That evil man was a tyrant & terrorist. He was not loved or respected & he will be missed by no one. If he’s gone, I truly hope the Iranian people have the chance to take their country back from murderous dictators.”

After Raisi’s death was confirmed, the State Department offered condolences to Iran, which outraged Scott. “What a disgrace. Since when does the United States issue a statement of condolence for a terrorist?! It should read: The world is a better place with Raisi dead,” he said.
