90s Democrat Bill Maher has come to the defense of Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker over a recent graduation speech in which he said that one of the "most important" jobs a woman can have is being a homemaker.

"How many of you are sitting here now, about to cross this stage, and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world. But I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world," Butker told graduates at Benedictine College last weekend

Butker's speech resulted in a collective gasp from the left, which has spent decades programming young women to believe that becoming a housewife is tantamount to failure, and that real women become titans of industry - delegating the raising of children to others, or hitting peak girlboss and simply not reproducing (and definitely not grappling with deep regret as their eggs expire)

And so, coming to Butker's defense is "Real Time" host Bill Maher, who says he doesn't see "what the big crime is."

During a Friday night panel discussion, Maher mocked Butker's critics for trying to make him out to be "history's greatest monster."

"I can't express how much this guy is not like me," said Maher. "He's religious. He loves marriage. He loves kids… And he's now history's greatest monster."

"Again, I don't agree with much with this guy, but I don't get the thing. He said… ‘Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world.' Ok, that seems fairly, like, modern. ‘But I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.’ I don't see what the big crime is. I really don't," Maher continued.

"And I think this is part of the problem people have with the left is that lots of people in this country are like this. Like he's saying some of you may go on to lead successful careers, but a lot of you are excited about this other way that people- everybody used to be. And now can't that be a choice too?"

"And I feel like they feel very put upon, like there's only one way to be a good person and that's to get an advanced degree from one of those a-- h--e factories like Harvard," Maher continued.

Claire's Observations:  However they shake out in the 21st century, families, and the values they transmit to their kids,  matter.

I have a very sharp family member, who "stopped out" of work when her kids were little.  As they got older, and spent more time in school, their mom got more work time.  When the kids were in high school, they were all studying at the dinner table, as mom was getting her Master's Degree in her chosen field. Both young women have excellent, satisfying careers.  But the values, and continuing love and support they get from both parents, continues.   I am very grateful that they are all part of my family.

Scientific propaganda about vaccines has reached dizzying heights, as officials point the uninformed public toward the Day of Liberation, when a COVID shot, otherwise known as God, will rescue Earth.

Here, from a chapter in my 1988 book, AIDS INC., is an excerpt exposing some of the infamous moments in vaccination history—hidden by the press, or simply forgotten.

For those denialists who cling to the notion that vaccines are remarkably safe and effective, this article is a pill you can swallow, bitter to be sure, but immunizing against the effects of bald lies from the bent medical establishment.

Understand: this is only a partial history of disasters and revelations, and it stops at 1988.

Thousands of people across the UK gathered at beaches, rivers and lakes on Saturday to demand change in the country’s water pollution levels.

Protesters gathered at swimming spots from West Pier in Brighton to Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth following reports that millions of litres of raw sewage were pumped into Windermere in the Lake District for 10 hours in February.

Some held signs and placards calling for clean oceans while others wore costumes as people were seen paddle-boarding out into the ocean.

Among the demands from activists was an end to sewage discharges into all bathing and high-priority nature sites by 2030.

In a move likely to aggravate political tension at the highest levels of government, Minister-without-portfolio Benny Gantz gave Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a deadline of June 8 to agree to a comprehensive strategic plan for the “day after” Hamas in Gaza and threatened to leave the government if this did not happen.

“Lately, something has gone wrong,” Gantz said. “Essential decisions were not made. Essential leadership decisions to ensure victory were not done. A small minority has taken over the command bridge of the Israeli ship of state and is steering her toward the rocks,” Gantz said, referring to Netanyahu’s far-right political partners, who repeatedly threatened in recent weeks that they would bring down the government if he made concessions that Gantz supported.

“Personal and political considerations have infiltrated the holy of holies of Israeli security,” Gantz said.

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan is expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Saturday before traveling to Israel amid rising tensions over the Israeli military operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

With an agreement reached between the United States and Israel, the latter will not expand its Rafah operation significantly before Sullivan's visit. The Biden administration hopes that this commitment will remain until a high-level meeting can take place between US and Israeli officials in Washington following Sullivan's trip.

The German Defense Ministry has requested an additional 3.8 billion euros ($4.13 billion) from the government to provide assistance to Ukraine, German newspaper Bild reported, citing sources.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius met with Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Wednesday and with Finance Minister Christian Lindner on Thursday, according to the newspaper.

The request for additional funds is due to be submitted to parliament for approval in June, the report pointed out, adding that the Finance Ministry supports the request.

"Germany should not fail in strengthening Ukraine's defense. If possible, we should supply additional weapons this year. If we can reach a consensus in the government, we will find ways in the current fiscal year," a finance ministry official told the newspaper.

The report noted that next year, the Bundeswehr may request a record amount of 15 billion euros ($16.3 billion) to help Kiev.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Germany's decision to close the investigation against an Air Force inspector who discussed strikes on Russia's Crimean Bridge a manifestation of Western hypocrisy.

The Berlin prosecutor's office earlier closed the probe against German Air Force inspector Ingo Gerhartz, conducted in connection with the interception of a conversation between Bundeswehr officers about the possible use of Taurus cruise missiles in a potential strike on the Crimean Bridge.

“This entire story is another manifestation of the West's hypocrisy,” Zakharova told Sputnik.

Slovakia's Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok has revealed that police are investigating some 40 “hateful” publications on the internet that could have played a role in the shooting of the country’s Prime Minister Robert Fico on Wednesday.

After searching the house of gunman Juraj Cintula, Slovak police have stuck to their initial conclusion: Robert Fico's shooting was an attempt at a political assassination of a “non-mainstream” European leader. Just like the EU establishment and its media, Cintula was irritated by Fico’s opposition to sending Slovakian weapons to Ukraine - for him, it was reason enough to justify a public murder of the prime minister.

Was this a unique incident in Europe? No, because the hatred that Fico provoked in mainstream press with his reluctance to “add fuel to the fire” in Ukraine was not exceptional, but typical. “Putin’s pal,” “illiberal threat,” “Kremlin-friendly hardliner” – such clichés became commonplace in mainstream European press against any non-systemic political leader who stands for his or her country's sovereignty or veers from the EU’s “common foreign policy,” not necessarily in unison with Russia.

Chinese President Xi Jinping’s extremely warm reception of President Vladimir Putin yesterday in Beijing sealed the increasingly formidable Russia-China strategic relationship. It amounts to a tectonic shift in the world balance of power.

The Russia-China entente also sounds the death knell for attempts by U.S. foreign policy neophytes to drive a wedge between the two countries. The triangular relationship has become two-against-one, with serious implications, particularly for the war in Ukraine. If US President Joe Biden’s foreign policy geniuses remain in denial, escalation is almost certain.

Via Associated Press

In a pre-visit interview with Xinhua, Putin noted the “unprecedented level of strategic partnership between our countries.” He and Xi have met more than 40 times in person or virtually. In June 2018, Xi described Putin as “an old friend of the Chinese people” and, personally, his “best friend.”

For his part, Putin noted Thursday that he and Xi are “in constant contact to keep personal control over all pressing issues on the Russian-Chinese and international agenda.” Putin brought along Defense Minister Andrey Belousov as well as veterans like Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and key business leaders.

Joint Statements Matter

Xi and Putin signed a strong joint statement Thursday, similar to the extraordinary one the two issued on Feb. 4, 2022, in Beijing. It portrayed their relationship as “superior to political and military alliances of the Cold War era. Friendship between the two States has no limits, there are no ‘forbidden’ areas of cooperation…”

The full import of that statement did not hit home until Putin launched the Special Military Operation into the Donbass three weeks later. China’s muted reaction shocked most analysts, who had dismissed the possibility that Xi would give “best friend” Putin, in effect, a waiver on China’s bedrock policy of non-interference abroad.

In the following weeks, official Chinese statements made clear that the principles of Westphalia had taken a back seat to “the need for every country to defend its core interests” and to judge each situation “on its own merits.”

Nuclear War

Thursday’s statement expressed concern over “increased strategic risks between nuclear powers” — referring to continued escalation of the war between NATO-supported Ukraine and Russia.

It condemns “the expansion of military alliances and creation of military bridgeheads close to the borders of other nuclear powers, particularly with the advanced deployment of nuclear weapons and their means of delivery, as well as other items.”

Putin has undoubtedly briefed Xi on the U.S. missile sites already in Romania and Poland that can launch what Russians call “offensive strike missiles” with flight time to Moscow of less than 10 minutes. Putin surely has told Xi about the inconsistencies in U.S. statements regarding intermediate-range nuclear missiles.

For example, Xi is aware — just as surely as consumers of Western media are unaware — that during a Dec. 30, 2021, telephone conversation, Biden assured Putin that “Washington had no intention of deploying offensive strike weapons in Ukraine.”

There was rejoicing in the Kremlin that New Years’ Eve, since Biden’s assurance was the first sign that Washington might acknowledge Russia’s security concerns. Indeed, Biden addressed a key issue in at least five of the eight articles of the Russian draft treaty given to the U.S. on Dec. 17, 2021. Russian rejoicing, however, was short-lived.

There has remained much speculation over whether the two leaders' respective translators were actually also carrying the 'nuclear footballs' while in Harbin

A recent JustFacts.com study found that between 10% to 27% of non-citizen adults in the U.S. are illegally registered to vote. The U.S. Census recorded more than 19 million adult non-citizens living in the U.S. during 2022. Given their voter registration rates, this means that about 2 million to 5 million are illegally registered to vote. These figures are potentially high enough to overturn the will of the American people in major elections, including congressional seats and the presidency.

Further, True the Vote's exposé on the Voting for Aliens clause 611c3 reveals that under certain conditions, aliens are not penalized for voting if they merely believe they are citizens.

Critics might dismiss concerns about a “slippery slope,” but history shows that laws often do, in fact, expand beyond their original intent to fit political agendas. Looking only at examples from Election Law:

  • The National Voter Registration Act (NVRA). Intended to streamline voter registration, it placed administration in the hands of multiple public agencies, leading to increased inaccuracies in voter rolls and facilitating voter fraud.
  • Help America Vote Act (HAVA), aimed at addressing voting system issues post-2000, mandated electronic voting systems. However, this shift compromised security, introducing vulnerabilities to hacking and technical failures. The requirement for provisional ballots also led to confusion and inconsistent handling across states.
  • The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). While designed to assist military personnel and overseas citizens, UOCAVA allows U.S. citizens born abroad, who have never resided in the U.S., to vote absentee in 38 states and the District of Columbia. This loophole, largely unknown to many Americans, significantly impacts federal elections.

Clearly, laws do get expanded beyond their original intent, often to suit political agendas. Given the direction of executive orders from the current administration - such as Executive Order 14019, the Biden Administration required that all federal government agencies push voter registration - particularly targeting populations where eligibility statuses cannot be effectively tracked, like students, prisoners, and non-citizens. (Fact: government agencies are historically synonymous with “waste, fraud and abuse”) Then, they effectively abandon the southern border.

Webmaster addition: U.S. Code, Title 18, Section 611, makes it a crime for non-citizens to vote in federal elections, and violations can result in fines, imprisonment, or deportation.

Some Western leaders are so obsessed with sticking it to Moscow that they’re behaving like delinquent youths who have no regard for the consequences of their actions, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has said.

He made the comment in an extensive interview with TASS on Friday, during which he discussed the poor state of US-Russia relations. Washington and its allies are “prepared to balance on the edge of direct armed conflict with us,” even though it undermines their national security, he added.

”There are plenty of people among those in power in the US and other key Western states, who are de facto provocateurs. They’ve made testing Moscow’s resolve the goal of their existence,” Ryabkov said.

Such individuals are political bullies, he added, describing them using a Russian term for delinquents and members of teen gangs who reject any kind of rules. They are preoccupied with crossing any red line drawn by Moscow, regardless of the risk of this brinkmanship, said the minister.

While global coverage of the Gaza crisis has focused on the Israeli offensive in the southern city of Raffah of late, fierce battles have erupted in the north of the Strip over the last several days, especially in Jabalia, where the IDF military is in a fierce anti-insurgent style battle set amid narrow alleyways.

The city which lies 2.5 miles north of Gaza City saw a 'return' of Hamas fighters after the IDF months ago conquered it. It has long been deemed among the Strip's permanent refugee camps. There are reports that Israeli armor has smashed deep into the heart of the camp and city.

American ships will be required to be very close just off Gaza's coast as fighting intensifies in both the north & south of the Strip.

Hamas also appears to have stepped-up its attacks on Israeli forces in various locations, and Al Jazeera reports at least 40 Palestinian deaths over the course of the last day.

"Tanks and planes are wiping out residential districts and markets, shops, restaurants, everything. It is all happening before the one-eyed world," a resident of Jabalia identified as Ayman Rajab told a regional outlet.

The same outlet observed that this intensifying fighting is occurring in the same northern region as the US Army-built humanitarian aid pier:

"People are terrified and they’re trying to get away," Jens Laerke, UN humanitarian office spokesperson, said in Geneva, adding that most were following orders to move north toward the coast but that there were no safe routes or destinations.

As the fighting raged, the US military said trucks started moving aid ashore from a temporary pier, the first to reach the besieged enclave by sea in weeks.

The situation is heating up even as famine is said to be present in this northern area. "To stave off the horrors of famine, we must use the fastest and most obvious route to reach the people of Gaza – and for that, we need access by land now," deputy UN spokesperson Farhan Haq announced in a statement, even as initial US aid deliveries via the pier get underway from nearby Cyprus.

This of course creates the potential that expanded fighting could occur close to the vicinity where American troops are overseeing pier operations just off the coast.

The Pentagon previously made it clear that if US troops come under fire, they are authorized to defend themselves and fire back. However, the IDF has also said it is providing security on land, and there are at least two Israeli bases established nearby.

Claire's Observations:  More US troops on the ground in Gaza/Israel?!?  Were I a betting woman, I would not at all bet against this, and potentially, very soon.

... in economy cooking. I am not saying that we will have Great Depression 2.0, but there is a good chance that shit will get really bad. Now, the way Kent presents things is absolutely wonderful--both historic references and cooking proper.

Stews, including presented here Hoover Stew, are very economic way of cooking during hard times. I am not, obviously, referring to the level of food desperation such as was in Russia in 1990s, when many people subsisted on such "diet" as pan-fried onions and bread--this was the time of a near famine in some localities in Russia (that's your Chicago and Harvard school of economics in action). But having basic Krakow sausage, beans and some pasta, certainly, helps and those are staples and they work in providing nutrition and calories.

While I doubt that the US will repeat the horror of Great Depression and the Dust Bowl...

... we still should expect some serious disruption of supply chains which will be more severe than it was during Covid criminal lock-down when such things as milk, bottled water and some meats simply evaporated from very many grocery stores. I will elaborate on the issue of the "Civil War" (I didn't watch the movie yet, because it is a Hollywood neural programming BS), but we should view all that as a steady decline of America's standard of living which is absolutely tangible with the inflation making serious inroads into the grocery prices, especially for people who are in low-paying jobs or unemployed altogether.

NATO will stand up for the rights of LGBTQ people, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg declared on Friday.

He was among hundreds of Western public officials, institutions and organizations to make a statement affirming the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

“NATO exists to defend 32 nations, and our peoples’ right to live freely & in peace,” Stoltenberg posted on X, formerly Twitter. “On the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia, and every day: all love is equal. LGBTQ+ people deserve respect & dignity, and I am proud to call myself your ally.”

The overwhelming majority of responses to Stoltenberg’s posts were negative, however.

Webmaster addition: We heterosexuals, for the most part, keep our sex lives private. We don't wave special flags. We don't demand a special month. We don't project our sexuality into the public schools. We don't demand special privileges like using the other bathroom. We just live our lives. NATO is a military alliance, not a social system.

Top Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, have repeatedly described Moscow’s ongoing military conflict with Kiev as a proxy war waged by NATO against Russia. Multiple Israeli media outlets are reporting on Hezbollah's military capabilities, following a series of top-tier attacks that targeted highly-prized Israeli surveillance and radar systems, while introducing new methods of engagement.

The Ynet news website said that Israeli officers serving on the northern front have issued a warning regarding the fact that Hezbollah can launch an attack on Israeli soldiers near the Palestinian-Lebanese border 30 seconds after locating them. The capability has been showcased in several videos published by the group's Military Media unit, where Hezbollah utilized either suicide drones, anti-tank guided missiles, or artillery weapons of various types to target Israeli groupings and individual soldiers.

Moreover, the military correspondent for the Israeli Army Radio said that Hezbollah has carried out a number of "high-quality attacks on more distant targets, using more advanced military weapons."
