“When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society, over the course of time they create for themselves a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it." -- Frédéric Bastiat, French economist

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has revealed an offer to Joe Biden that he believes would shake up the 2024 election and help one of them defeat Donald Trump.

The nephew of former President John F. Kennedy and the son of former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy has kept running as a third-party candidate after losing to Biden in the Democrat primary.

Recent polls show him garnering nine percent of the vote as an independent in a multi-way race with Biden, Trump and other candidates.

In an interview with Dr. Phil on Wednesday, the longtime activist and environmental lawyer said he has offered Biden a deal that would prevent him from being a 'spoiler' candidate and would help defeat Trump.

'We will co-fund a poll together, the two of us in October, and whomever is least likely to beat Donald Trump will withdraw,' he said.

Denmark is set to impose a new tax on farmers over greenhouse gases produced by their livestock, Taxation Minister Jeppe Bruus has announced. The toll on cow, pig, and sheep emissions will be implemented starting in 2030, according to the minister.

The new tax is expected to greatly contribute to the country’s goal of reducing emissions by 70% from 1990 levels by the end of the decade, as well as ultimately attaining carbon neutrality, Bruus explained.

“We will take a big step closer in becoming climate neutral in 2045,” the minister stated, praising the measure as a way for Denmark to become “the first country in the world to introduce a real CO2 tax on agriculture.”

Webmaster addition: The tricky part will be fitting those meters to the cows' rear-ends!

Charles Schwab economists are pointing out that current market conditions are becoming more similar to 2021, the year before the most recent time stocks soured.

The bank's investment analysts warned of the problems caused by the growing disconnect between individual stocks doing badly and indexes such as the S&P 500 going gangbusters.

'If we continue to see more weakness in the former and strength in the latter, it will start to eerily mimic 2021's dynamic,' wrote Liz Ann Sonders, who's been Charles Schwab's chief investment strategist for 24 years, in a June 24 market commentary.

Surging tech stocks have taken both the S&P and the Nasdaq to record heights, but as Sonders points out, most companies in these two indexes don't reflect the out-of-this-world performance of a firm like Nvidia, which recently became the world's most valuable company.

Sunny Verghese, CEO of Olam Agri, a Singapore-based agricultural trading firm, spoke at the Redburn Atlantic and Rothschild consumer conference last week, warned the audience that the world is heading towards a period of "food wars" as geopolitical wildfires spread across the globe.

"We have fought many wars over oil. We will fight bigger wars over food and water," Verghese said, quoted by the Financial Times, adding that food protectionism has forced some governments to boost domestic food supplies, exacerbating food inflation.

He pointed out that a surge in non-tariff trade barriers in 2022 in response to the war in Ukraine—1,266 from 154 countries by his count—had sparked "an exaggerated demand-supply imbalance."

Food prices have soared in recent years, whether due to adverse weather conditions (sparked by El Nino) or the war in Ukraine. These prices are likely to remain elevated for years to come.

Verghese said wealthier countries have been building surpluses of strategic commodities due to global uncertainty, which has helped push food prices higher.

"India, China, everybody has got buffer stocks," he said, adding, "That is only exacerbating the global problem."

The latest data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations shows that global food prices are beginning to rise once again and remain well above pre-Covid levels.

A new swing state poll released Wednesday shows that more of the nation's most influential voters trust former President Donald Trump in handling threats to democracy than President Joe Biden.

In a survey produced by The Washington Post and the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University, 38 percent of so-called 'deciders' in six swing states say Trump is a better steward for democracy.

That's in comparison to 29 percent of 'deciders' who say the same thing of Biden, who has centered his campaign around characterizing Trump as an authoritarian threat.

Pollsters interviewed voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin - six states that Biden won over Trump in 2020 - and then pinpointed what demographic groups would most likely determine the outcome in 2024.

  • On June 18, France announced the sale of 36 Caesar self-propelled howitzers to Armenia, leading to harsh criticism from Azerbaijan and Russia, highlighting the rising tensions in the Caucasus.
  • Azerbaijani and Russian officials have labeled the arms sale as provocative, with fears of sparking a potential Third Karabakh War as regional hostilities persist.
  • The transaction underscores the ongoing diplomatic feud between France and Azerbaijan, with France showing firm support for Armenia's military strengthening and territorial integrity.

A cold conflict is escalating between France and Azerbaijan. And the latest twist in the tit-for-tat spat is heightening the prospect of renewed conflict in the Caucasus.

Authored by Paul Sperry via RealClearInvestigations.com,

Just before Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton faced off in their second presidential debate, then-National Intelligence Director James Clapper met in the White House with a small group of advisers to President Obama to hatch a plan to put out a first-of-its-kind intelligence report warning the voting public that "the Russian government" was interfering in the election by allegedly breaching the Clinton campaign’s email system.

On Oct. 7, 2016 – just two days before the presidential debate between Trump and Clinton – Clapper issued the unprecedented intelligence advisory with Obama’s personal blessing. It seemed to lend credence to what the Clinton camp was telling the media — that Trump was working with Russian President Vladimir Putin through a secret back channel to steal the election. Sure enough, the Democratic nominee pounced on it to smear Trump at the debate.

In a startling revelation from Zillow, the typical salary required to own a home in the United States has skyrocketed to $106,500—a staggering 80% increase from the $59,000 needed just four years ago. This rapid rise in homeownership costs is symptomatic of a broader economic malaise gripping American consumers, even those in traditionally comfortable income brackets. A recent survey by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia underscores the growing financial anxiety among U.S. consumers. More than a third of respondents expressed concern about making ends meet in the next six months, a significant increase from the previous year's 28.7%. This apprehension is not limited to low-income earners; even those making $100,000 or more annually are feeling the pinch.
