Mexico's election is now the bloodiest in its modern history after a candidate running for local office in central Puebla state was murdered on Friday at a political rally, taking the number of assassinated candidates to 37 ahead of Sunday's vote.

Jorge Huerta Cabrera, a candidate who was running for a council seat in the town of Izucar de Matamoros, was gunned down in the attack, according to the state prosecutor's office.

The killing takes the number of assassinated candidates in the 2024 election season to 37, one more than during the 2021 midterm election when 36 candidates were killed, according to data from security consultancy Integralia.

A pair of allegedly racist squatters who went years without paying their mortgage — then cried poverty and refused to leave their Long Island home when it was auctioned off — paid $700,000 cash for a new Florida abode, records reveal.

Barry and Barbara Pollack, both 72, plunked down the cash for a two-bedroom, two-bath spread in an over-55 community in Boynton Beach in January, property records show.

The 1,782-square-foot home includes a two-car garage, walk-in closets, new porcelain tile floors and a new washer dryer, according to the listing on Zillow.

The House Judiciary Committee is requesting Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg testify in a hearing about the weaponization of the federal government in the wake of former President Donald Trump’s guilty verdict.

Trump was convicted Thursday in a Manhattan criminal court of 34 felony charges in a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election by paying for the silence of a porn actor who claimed they had an affair. The trial and subsequent conviction marked the first time a former U.S. president has been tried or convicted in a criminal case.

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, the chairman of the committee, requested Bragg and Matthew Colangelo, senior counsel to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, testify on June 13 in a hearing before a select subcommittee on the weaponization of government.

People often ask us to “Never Forget” September 11th while at the same time turning a blind eye to the actual facts about those crimes. One such fact is that we were given a string of false, contradictory official accounts for the failure of the national air defense systems that day and the last one given is the most unbelievable.

The ever-changing accounts for the failure to intercept any of the four hijacked planes began two days after the attacks. That first account was provided in an official hearing to confirm General Richard Myers as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS). Myers testified that no fighter jets were scrambled to intercept any of the hijacked flights until after the Pentagon was hit. Although Myers did not sound terribly confident in his knowledge, people thought he should have been, considering that more than 48 hours had passed and he had been serving as acting CJCS during the attacks.

A second, contradictory story was given five days later, when the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) provided a partial timeline of the notifications it had received from the Federal Aviation Administration and the responses that followed. The timeline showed that NORAD was notified about the hijacking of Flight 175 at 8:43 am, a full 20 minutes before it impacted the south tower of the WTC. Moreover, F-15 interceptor jets from Otis Air Force Base were said to be airborne by 8:52, having been scrambled in response to the first hijacking.

First a string of NATO nations supplied Ukraine with weapons to defend itself, both before and after its war with Russia had commenced. Then one after another they each signaled their approval for Ukraine to use these weapons for strikes on Russian territory.

It’s no coincidence that Britain, Sweden, France, Germany and now the U.S. have all signaled their approval for Ukraine to use weapons they supplied for strikes on Russia itself.

Apart from using Ukraine as a proxy in a war against Russia, by arming and supplying it they are also pushing Russia into a corner where, if it wants to end the conflict it will have little option but striking NATO itself.

If it weren’t for support from the western military alliance, Ukraine would have come to terms with Russia long ago.

Ukraine’s armed forces lost more than 35,000 servicemen and over 290 tanks in May this year, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said.

“The Russian Armed Forces are systematically depleting the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In May, the enemy suffered losses of more than 35,000 troops and 2,700 units of various weapons. Among them were 290 tanks and armored combat vehicles, including four Abrams, seven Leopards, and 12 Bradleys. In addition, 11 planes and four helicopters were shot down, while 730 field artillery and multiple rocket launchers were destroyed,” Belousov said at a meeting of the CSTO Council of Defense Ministers in Almaty on Friday.

According to him, “deprived of the opportunity to seize the initiative on the battlefield, the Kiev regime continues to demonstrate to its Western sponsors its ability to damage the Russian Federation by hitting civilian infrastructure.”

The Egyptian populace's anger could soon boil over if the Abdel Fattah Al Sisi government doesn't form a tougher response to Israel's offensive in Rafah. Israeli forces now have direct control of the about nine-mile Gaza-Egypt border, and this led to a flare-up in tensions as on Monday a rare shootout between IDF and Egyptian border troops resulted in two Egyptian soldiers killed.

The 45-year long peace treaty between the two Mideast neighbors is under severe threat. This is not necessarily due to any willingness of President Sisi to start open hostilities with Israel, but more based on the reality and dynamics of the Islamic and ultra-conservative identity of the majority of the Egyptian population (the Arab North African country has 110+ million people).

There are widespread reports that the slain Egyptian border guards were not given a proper military funeral...

The Justice Department has agreed to settle long-running litigation stemming from a decision in 2017 to release to the media text messages between two former FBI employees involved in the probe of alleged ties between Russia and Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

In a notice filed with two federal judges in Washington on Tuesday, the Justice Department said it had reached settlements of legal claims that fired FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI attorney Lisa Page brought in 2019 alleging that the disclosure violated their privacy.

The terms of the settlements were not disclosed in the notice, which said Strzok’s claims that his firing violated his First Amendment and due process rights are not resolved by the agreement. That litigation, alleging that the FBI caved to political pressure from Trump to fire Strzok just before he was eligible for full retirement pay, is ongoing.

A host of major GOP donors pledged millions of dollars in support for former President Donald Trump after he was found guilty Thursday on all 34 counts in his Manhattan business records trial.

Many conservative donors already viewed the New York case as less about justice than political by design, echoing the Republican presidential candidate’s view Democrats want to discredit and weaken him ahead of the Nov. 5 election against Democratic President Joe Biden.

Reuters reports those donors are more than happy to put their money where their beliefs are and offer financial support to Trump ahead of his resumption of time on the 2024 campaign trail.

The outlet pointed to mega donors including casino billionaire Miriam Adelson and hotelier Robert Bigelow as having lined up behind Trump, with their donations set to bolster a wave of pro-Trump ads, door-knocking, and phone banking in battleground states.

Iran has strongly condemned new EU sanctions against some of the country's officials and entities, stressing that the Islamic Republic reserves the right to respond.

The EU on Friday levied fresh sanctions on a number of Iranian individuals and entities, accusing them of transferring drones and missiles to Russia and undermining peace and security West Asia.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan'ani on Saturday shot back, slamming the European Union’s double standards in dealing with Israel's months-long crimes in the Gaza Strip.

“The European Union, which has been passive and ineffective in dealing with the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and Palestine for the past months and has been criticized by Europe’s public opinion as well as people all over the world, once again instead of focusing on the war crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and punishing and banning this criminal regime, has put on its list of sanctions some leading and influential Iranian officials and institutions in the fight against terrorism and ensuring lasting security in the region,” he said.

CNN's prime-time viewership among the key 25-54 age demographic dipped during the week of May 13-19 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. to its smallest audience since 1991, with just 83,000 tuning in, according to Nielsen.

Fox News garnered 186,000 viewers in the key demographic during that time span and MSNBC had 111,000, according to data. Much of cable news was dominated by coverage of former President Donald Trump's legal expense trial.

While CNN showed significant growth in its daytime hours, up about 44 % year over year, its total prime-time audience was almost quadrupled by Fox News — 518,000 total average viewers to 2 million for Fox.

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign announced on Friday that it had raised nearly $53 million in the 24 hours after Trump’s conviction by a New York jury.

Jurors in Trump’s business records trial found the former president guilty on all 34 counts related to payments made to adult entertainment star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election.

“In the 24 hours since Crooked Joe Biden and his New York henchmen got their sham trial verdict, the Trump Campaign has raised $52.8 million through the online digital fundraising platform,” the Trump campaign wrote. “THAT’S MORE THAN $2 MILLION PER HOUR!”

The Trump campaign added that over “one third” of these donations were from new donors.

Authored by Steve Watson via modernity.news,

Reuters has published an article claiming that Trump supporters have called for “riots and violent retribution” after the GOP nominee was convicted in the New York Trial Thursday.

Here’s a screenshot of the article (in case they change it):

Reuters says that it has conducted a “review of comments on three Trump-aligned websites: the former president’s own Truth Social platform, Patriots.Win and the Gateway Pundit.”

The piece continues, “Some called for attacks on jurors, the execution of the judge, Justice Juan Merchan, or outright civil war and armed insurrection.”

The article then quoted one comment that stated “Someone in NY with nothing to lose needs to take care of Merchan,” referring to the judge, and adding “Hopefully he gets met with illegals with a machete.”

The piece quotes another comment on Gateway Pundit, that states “Time to start capping some leftys. This cannot be fixed by voting.”

The article quotes several more comments calling for violence, but admits that some have since been removed.

Reuters also charges that since the 2020 election Trump “loyalists have responded with a campaign of threats and intimidation targeting judges and court officials.”

The article also quotes Jacob Ware, a research fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, who has recently published a book on “far right terrorism.”

Ware charges that Trump has an “ironclad ability to mobilize more extreme supporters to action, both at the ballot box and through violence.”

Until and unless he accepts the process, the extremist reaction to his legal troubles will be militant,” Ware added.

This all comes after Joe Biden labelled violent BLM protests “peaceful” and contrasted them to January 6th protesters “storming” the capitol.

Claire's Observations:  to Steve Hasker, and the rest of the Reuters Executive Team; many of us, who support Trump over Biden, in the 2024 election, are absolutely NOT violent, nor would ever condone or support violence

So let me introduce myself:  I am Claire Rivero, a Christian Pacifist Activist, and wife of Michael Rivero, a conservative Peace Activist, with a deep sense of morality and a blog a number of people read regularly, because Mike has this annoying habit of "getting things right the first time."

I NEVER advocate violence, and if you have ever taken a moment to read any of my previous posts which I highly doubt, you will understand that this is an absolute for me.

Right now, I strongly suspect that the Bidenistas are planning some kind of horrific mob riot or riots, to blame on Trump supporters, in order to suspend the Constitution and Bill of Rights and "postpone the November election "indefinitely.", if they believe that they cannot "steal it" outright.

The track record of this Administration is dismal beyond belief, by every metric; the stagnant economy, coupled with the horrific US Federal deficit; a completely broken Southern border; the pressure  for DEI, which is destroying formerly respected institutions like the UCLA Medical center and colleges; and these endless wars, which the US government is supporting fervently in Gaza and Ukraine, which are absolutely of no benefit whatsoever for We the People.

Many of us fully recognise the presence of "Lawfare" in this  attempt to get Trump out of the race, by any means necessary, other than assassination.

Unfortunately for those who "conjured" this case, it has boomeranged in their faces, sort of like a bad trick cigar.  After the conviction, Trump's numbers started to soar, as did contributions to his campaign. I would not bet against an emergency session of the Supreme Court on this issue, as happened with Gore Vs/Bush, in THAT election "debacle", even though this case was prosecuted at the New York State level.

What I will be asking for, in that session of my worship service tomorrow where our Pastor asks for "joys and concerns", I will ask my congregation to be very spiritually aware of what they wish for, as the outcome of this verdict, and reach out, with love and compassion to those who think differently from themselves.

One of the things I have always admired about this country, as a  US citizen, is our ability to reach out, bridge our differences, and get some amazing things done, in spite of those differences.  I am seriously praying, that now can be one of those times.

A massive fire broke out at Farina Farms Inc. in Marion County, Illinois, on Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of millions of chickens.

The farm is one of the largest free-range egg facilities in the country.

The fire, which began around 6:30 p.m. along Highway 37, quickly escalated into a 5-alarm fire, requiring the intervention of at least 20 different fire departments from surrounding areas, according to WAND TV.

Described as “humongous” by Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps, the fire engulfed multiple buildings spanning 200-300 yards in length.

The smoke was so dense that it was visible on FOX 2’s Power Doppler radar, reaching altitudes between 13,000 and 15,000 feet and could be seen for miles around, WGN9 reported.

“The fire at the Chicken Farm south of Farina is so hot it is actually producing a rare type of cloud over it. It’s called a “pyrocumulus cloud.” They form over large fires (typically wildfires) due to the intense, upward vertical motion of air cooling and condensing as it moves higher into the sky,” Meteorologist Jacob Dickey wrote on Facebook.
