In early March, U.S. banks faced substantial unrealized losses, ominous figures hinting at potential disaster. At the end of 2022, these losses hit $1.7 trillion, nearly matching the total equity of U.S. banks, which stood at $2.1 trillion. Rising interest rates slashed the value of assets like U.S. Treasuries and mortgage-backed securities, mainstays in bank portfolios. What happened was a relentless rise in interest rates, causing fixed-income securities to plummet in value. Banks, heavily invested in government bonds and mortgage-backed securities, saw their holdings battered. Unrealized losses aren't immediate disasters, but they loom ominously. If market conditions worsen or banks sell assets at depressed prices, these paper losses could become crushing realized losses. Compounding this peril, nearly $7 trillion of U.S. bank deposits are uninsured by the FDIC. A panic-induced withdrawal spree by uninsured depositors could jeopardize hundreds of billions in deposits, pushing the banking system to the brink.

Joe Biden threatened to assault a reporter who called him out for his old age.

TIME Magazine interviewed Joe Biden at the White House on May 28. Of course, it was a softball interview.

At one point the interviewer asked Biden about his old age. Biden didn’t take it well. He threatened the reporter:

The last two years of Presidents, two-term President’s tenure are usually focused on foreign affairs. You are 81 years old, and would be 86 by the time you left office. Large majorities of Americans, including in the Democratic Party, tell pollsters they think you are too old to lead. Could you really do this job as an 85-year old man?

Biden: I can do it better than anybody you know. You’re looking at me, I can take you too.

Did you consider not running again because of your age?

Biden: No, I didn’t.

And what do you say to Americans who are worried about it?

Biden: Watch me. Look, name me a president that’s gotten as much done as I’ve gotten done in my first three and a half years. When all of you wrote in Time magazine I couldn’t get any of it done. When you told me there’s no pay, no way, no way he can get a trillion-plus dollar bill done in terms of, to deal with infrastructure, where there’s no way he gets $368 billion for dealing with the environment, where there’s no way I could get the, the, the legislation passed on.

Former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden by 12% in North Carolina among choices expected to be available Nov. 5. The latest poll produced results far different from any other in North Carolina to date.

Trump is favored by 44% of 600 likely voters in the poll conducted May 29-June 2, sandwiching both before and after he became a convicted felon Thursday in New York. North Star Opinion Research, sampling for AmericanGreatness.com and delivering a +/- 4% margin of error, said Biden was chosen by 32%, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 9%, Cornel West 3% and Jill Stein 2%. There were 8% undecided.

At Monday’s deadline, voter signature lists were filed by three groups with the state Board of Elections. Two represented Kennedy and West, and a third was by the Constitution Party. The filings, if signatures are verified, would allow the parties to slate candidates for any election race this fall, not just president.

The Biden administration announced an executive order Tuesday that it claims would shut down the US-Mexico border once illegal crossings hit 2,500 per day between points of entry for seven consecutive days — a “crackdown” that will still permit a minimum of 1.8 million new arrivals into America every year even if enforced properly.

The order, which is expected to take effect immediately, would lift border restrictions two weeks after the number of crossings averages 1,500 for seven days straight, senior administration officials said in a background call previewing President Biden’s 2 p.m. announcement.

The new restrictions include several exceptions, such as allowing migrants to cross the border who use the CBP One mobile application at a port of entry, as well as “unaccompanied children, victims of a severe form of trafficking, those who face an acute medical emergency or an imminent an extreme threat to life and safety and other non citizens who have a valid visa or some other lawful permission to enter the United States,” the officials said.

The ninnies of Bidenworld seem to not understand that by subjecting Mr. Trump to a kangaroo court they’ve made him the kind of outlaw that Americans revere above every other archetypal hero.

The endless but nonetheless hilarious humiliations just keep coming for Furiosa, AKA Mad Max with a Sexless Girlboss.

First, this $200 million act of stupidity that dropped a sexless girl into a Mad Max movie flopped on Memorial Day Weekend. Then Furiosa was responsible for driving the Memorial Day Weekend box office to a 26-year low. Then, without any new competition, Furiosa came in third place in week two behind two children’s movies — Garfield and If. Mad Max with a Sexless Girlboss is dying at the domestic box office (still hasn’t topped $50 million after two weekends), dying at the worldwide box office (only $114 million after two weekends), and now we’re told this bomb is killing off an entire movie theatre.

“Stephen Goddard, the manager of Emerald Cinema Complex in [Emerald, Queensland], sold just 222 tickets to” Furiosa during its opening week, the Daily Mail reported. He says that these “disastrous numbers could spell the end of his 20-year business.”

He explained that a movie people actually want to see “would usually sell 1050 tickets in a week,” so he “will probably shut down.”

Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, said in an interview that the U.S. government might be "less prepared" for 2024 election threats from bad actors.

“We may be less prepared 155 days out in 2024 than we were under President Trump (in 2020),” Warner said during an interview with the Associated Press on Monday.

According to the AP report, Warner cited "improved disinformation tactics by Russia and China, the rise of domestic candidates and groups who are themselves willing to spread disinformation, and the arrival of artificial intelligence programs that allow the rapid creation of images, audio and video difficult to tell from the real thing" as threats the U.S. might not be adequately prepared to combat.

Top-rated SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly went back and forth with host Dan Abrams on his NewsNation program late last week discussing Donald Trump’s conviction, with Abrams insisting that the guilty verdict was correct while Kelly argued that the former president did nothing wrong.

Abrams began the sparring conversation by stating, “There was definitely wrongdoing,” even though what transpired may have been considered legal.

“What was it?” Kelly asked.

“What was the wrongdoing? Alright, number one, it’s $130,000 to a porn star to keep her quiet, to try to protect your campaign. Can we at least agree that’s wrong?” Abrams replied.

“How was it wrong?” Kelly pressed. “I don’t know what kind of weird marriage these two have. Same as I didn’t know what kind of weird marriage Bill and Hillary Clinton had. So I don’t know what their covenant is in terms of what he’s allowed to do on the outside of his marriage.”

But Abrams responded by saying that this was not about the alleged sexual encounter between Trump and adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

“I’m not talking about the sex. I’m talking about the $130,000 to keep [Stormy Daniels] quiet to protect his campaign,” Abrams said.

But again, Kelly insisted the payoff wasn’t illegal, as the Southern District of New York, District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s predecessor, and the Federal Elections Commission all previously found.
