"The problem is not the clown on the throne…he isn’t actually the problem and if he wasn’t there, some other psycho would be there. Which is why the crappy idea of statism is what has to go." -- Larken Rose
In the 1992 campaign, the always colorful James Carville hung a sign in Bill Clinton’s Little Rock headquarters with three key messages. And if “It’s the Economy, Stupid” became the iconic election-cycle takeaway, Carville’s third dictate bears a 30th anniversary reminder: “Don’t Forget Health Care.”
The Conference Board’s closely watched gauge of consumer sentiment released on August 30th found that consumer expectations for the next 6 months were 75.1. While the data showed month-over-month improvement, the index remained well below 80, suggesting as the Conference Board wrote last week that “a recession risk persists.”
Rising inflation has been at the heart of declining consumer expectations. Over the course of election-year 2022, it also has been a tactical focus for both political parties ranging from the Democratic push to pass the Inflation Reduction Act earlier this month to a flood of Republican advertisements in key swing districts blaming President Biden and Congressional leaders for fueling inflation.
If this political posturing is unsurprising, a surprising election-year consensus in both parties is: health care is only a modest concern for voters this fall. Nothing arguably tells that story more than the most recent CBS News survey. The nonpartisan poll conducted July 27-29 did not even ask voters about health care as a top issue. It was missing from the “most important issue facing the country” list altogether. But alas, as Carville admonished, “Don’t Forget Health Care.”
Declining health care affordability will be a defining political issue this decade. It is hiding in plain sight —and very few in Washington are positioning to solve it.
At ten past five in the morning on Election Day in 2021, retired construction company owner Warren Jenkins slid into his business-casual attire in a panic, knowing he had to get to the polling station in 20 minutes. He was the only Republican poll watcher at an important precinct.
Jenkin’s wife, prescient, pre-made lunch for her husband, who then arrived at the polls to begin his 15-hour shift—from 5:30 a.m. to about 9 p.m.—just in time.
As a volunteer poll watcher in Virginia, Jenkins would run back and forth between the outdoor ballot box and the in-door voting place, observe the conduct of the election, and report irregularities and violations of the Election Code, if any, to election officials.
For his entire life, Jenkins has been somewhat of a model American man: he served in the army, built houses, and loves spending his weekends at church and with family and friends—and wasn’t into politics, at all.
But as the battleground blaze simmered at the conclusion of the 2020 election lawsuits, Jenkins still had in his mind the lingering silhouette of Zuckerbucks (private funding in election administration that was allowed in 2020 and now banned in some states), whispers of faulty mail-in ballots, and alleged—later court-confirmed—election law-flaunting. He then thought he could do more for the country as an American.
President Trump on Friday evening spoke at a packed rally in Wilmington, North Carolina.
U.S. District Judge Raymond Dearie presides over his first public hearing since his appointment as special master to review documents seized last month by the FBI from former President Donald Trump's Florida home, at a courtroom in New York on Sept. 20, 2022. (Jane Rosenberg/Reuters)
The judge designated as the special master in former President Donald Trump’s records case has proposed that a government official swear that the government properly listed items taken from Trump’s home in August.
U.S. District Judge Raymond Dearie, the special master, also left open the possibility of recommending the government be ordered to return some of the seized materials.
Dearie outlined the plan on Sept. 22, following an order that blocks him and Trump’s lawyers from accessing materials with classified markings that were taken from Trump’s home in Palm Beach, Florida.
Dearie, a George W. Bush appointee, was chosen by Trump attorneys and Department of Justice (DOJ) lawyers and put into place by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee. Trump and the DOJ can object to components of the plan; Cannon would adjudicate any objections.
On Friday, a judge ruled that police officers who were fired for refusing to get vaccinated against the coronavirus must be reinstated.
After battering Puerto Rico earlier this week with torrential rain and strong winds, Hurricane Fiona is now a Category 3 storm barreling towards northeastern Canada. There's also a new tropical storm developing in the Caribbean and forecasted to become a threat to Southeast US next week.
As of Friday morning, Fiona's center was passing northwest of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph, the National Hurricane Center said. The storm was downgraded from a Category 4 hurricane.
Now Fiona sets sights on northeastern Canada, where hurricane warnings are in effect for Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, the Magdalen Islands, and the coast of Newfoundland.
A father of seven and pro-life warrior was arrested this morning in Pennsylvania by 25-30 FBI agents for protecting his son from crude actions reportedly made against his son by an abortion escort.
LifeSite reported today:
A well-known pro-life author, sidewalk counselor, and father of seven was the latest victim of a U.S. Department of Justice-sponsored SWAT raid and arrest — for supposed “FACE Act” violations — at his rural home as his children looked on “screaming.”
…Ryan-Marie, who is a homeschool mother, explained the SWAT team of 25 to 30 FBI agents swarmed their property with around 15 vehicles at 7:05 a.m. this morning. Having quickly surrounded the house with rifles in firing position, “they started pounding on the door and yelling for us to open it.”
Before opening the door, she explained, her husband tried to calm them, saying, “‘Please, I’m going to open the door, but, please, my children are in the home. I have seven babies in the house.’ But they just kept pounding and screaming,” she said.
When he opened the door, “they had big, huge rifles pointed at Mark and pointed at me and kind of pointed throughout the house,” Ryan-Marie described…
The FBI was there because of Mark’s work against abortion. Recently an abortion advocate and escort reportedly harassed his son at an abortion clinic and when Houck protected his son he was accused of harassing the escort.
Florida is preparing for the possibility of a major hurricane as Tropical Storm Ian edges closer to the state, causing Gov. Ron DeSantis to declare a state of emergency for 24 counties.
Tropical Storm Ian developed early on Friday. Official forecasts expect it to turn into a Category 3 hurricane by next Wednesday, which could mean Floridians will be slammed by winds up to 130 mph.
The track of the Tropical Storm is very similar to that of Hurricane Charley, which ravaged Florida in 2004, killing 15 people and causing more than $16 billion in damage.
A peaceful settlement of the dispute in the Taiwan Strait is incompatible with Taiwan's independence from China, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday.
"A peaceful settlement is incompatible with Taiwan's separatism and independence; the more unrestrained the actions to achieve the island's independence is, the less likely that there would be a peaceful solution," the Chinese Foreign Ministry quoted Wang as saying at the meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In order to protect peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, it is necessary to oppose and stop any actions aimed at achieving Taiwan's independence, Wang said.
The foreign minister noted that China and the US have common interests and profound differences, adding that both sides knew they were dealing with a country with a different political system, "which in no way prevented them from cooperating based on common interests and should not serve as a reason for opposing and confrontation between Beijing and Washington."
Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch has given a potential timeline for when the identity of the person or persons who leaked the ‘Roe’ preliminary draft opinion in May could be revealed.
In his first remarks since the leak of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Gorsuch said he hopes the investigation into the leak will soon be completed.
Gorsuch gave his views during a discussion with lawyers and judges in Colorado Springs Thursday at the 10th Circuit Judicial Conference. In June, the Supreme Court overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion in all states.
“The chief justice appointed an internal committee to oversee the investigation,” Gorsuch said. “That committee has been busy, and we’re looking forward to their report, I hope, soon.”
Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has given the ax to another state official.
Jose Angel Martinez, Miami-Dade County Commissioner-District 11, was terminated by the governor after he was arrested on August 11, “for felony charges of unlawful compensation for official behavior … and conspiracy to commit unlawful compensation,” second and third-degree felonies, the governor’s office said.
“Today, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 22-215 (Executive Order of Suspension), suspending Jose Angel Martinez from his position as County Commissioner for Miami-Dade County, District 11,” the governor’s office said on its website.
“On August 30, 2022, an Information was issued against Martinez for felony charges of unlawful compensation for official behavior, in violation of section 838. 016(1), Florida Statutes, and conspiracy to commit unlawful compensation, in violation of section 838.016 and section 777. 04(3), Florida Statutes. These violations constitute felonies in the second and third degree, and it is in the best interest of the residents of Miami-Dade County that Martinez be immediately suspended from the public office that he holds. The Governor will appoint a commissioner to fill the District 11 seat in the coming weeks,” it said.
Who needs aborted babies for organ and tissue harvesting when you can just create an unlimited amount of embryonic human life in a petri dish? This is what an Israeli firm called Renewal Bio is reportedly now doing.
Piggy-backing off a similar concept that was unveiled by a research team at the University of Cambridge, researchers at Renewal Bio say they are currently in the process of developing human embryos from stem cells using “artificial womb technology.”
According to reports, these stem cells already produce beating hearts, intestinal tracts, and even brains, meaning they are human. But they skip the process of having to go into a woman’s womb and tear an actual baby limb from limb in order to extract the desired body parts. (Related: Remember when the University of Pittsburgh was caught harvesting the organs of live babies?)
Renewal Bio says the goal of the project is to create a steady supply of human baby tissue for organ transplants and other “anti-aging procedures,” to quote CBN News.
Instead of requiring the natural combination of sperm, egg, and fertilization, the company’s stem cell technology allows babies to be created and assembled artificially outside the womb.
A man charged in the fatal hit-and-run of Pinellas County, Florida Deputy Michael Hartwick is in the US illegally, Fox 13 reported.
Last Thursday, Deputy Michael Hartwick was struck and killed by 32-year-old Juan Ariel Molina-Salles, an illegal alien from Honduras who used a fake ID and a fake name to get a construction job.
According to Fox 13, Molina-Salles entered the US illegally in October 2021 where he was turned around by border patrol and sent back to Mexico – BUT he was able to sneak back into the US because of Biden’s open borders and he eventually killed a deputy.
Hartwick’s dashcam shows him getting out of his cruiser shortly before Molina-Salles drove by in a front loader.

FBI Agents Accuse Biden of Pressuring FBI to Fabricate ‘Extremist’ and ‘White Supremacist’ Cases, by Matt Margolis, PJ Media, September 15, 2022
Current and former FBI agents have come forward saying the Biden administration is deliberately exaggerating the danger posed by white supremacists. They claimed that high-ranking FBI officials were pressuring field agents to fabricate domestic terrorism cases and label people as white supremacists in order to “meet internal metrics.”
“The demand for white supremacy” coming from FBI brass “vastly outstrips the supply of white supremacy,” one agent told the Washington Times. “We have more people assigned to investigate white supremacists than we can actually find.”
The FBI agent, who requested anonymity in order to discuss internal bureau politics, said that top officials in the FBI “have already determined that white supremacy is a problem” and established a policy to prioritize investigations into racially-motivated domestic extremism.
House minority leader Kevin McCarthy on Friday released the 2022 Republican Commitment to America.
The sex-trafficking investigation into Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, which Gaetz himself said was part of an extortion scheme organized by agents of the Israeli government, has reportedly fallen apart due to the two main witnesses against him getting exposed for having massive credibility issues.
From The Washington Post, "Career prosecutors recommend no charges for Gaetz in sex-trafficking probe":
Career prosecutors have recommended against charging Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) in a long-running sex-trafficking investigation — telling Justice Department superiors that a conviction is unlikely in part because of credibility questions with the two central witnesses, according to people familiar with the matter.
Senior department officials have not made a final decision on whether to charge Gaetz, but it is rare for such advice to be rejected, these people told The Washington Post, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the deliberations. They added that it is always possible additional evidence emerges that could alter prosecutors’ understanding of the case.
Because the Second Amendment isn’t the only red-headed stepchild of the Bill of Rights.
The Ninth Amendment, in today’s plain English, could be stated as:
The fact that some rights are specifically listed in the Constitution doesn’t mean that anything not listed is not a right, or that it’s a lesser right.
This was a valiant attempt at a “catch-all” Amendment, and it was needed, because the Tenth Amendment took the opposite approach for powers of the government:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

President Joe Biden’s midterm campaign message is that he is defending democracy from former president Donald Trump and his supporters. At Independence Hall, he says “MAGA forces” are a threat to the country. Among their sins is their promotion of “authoritarian leaders” and “[fanning] the flames of political violence that are threat to our personal rights [and] to the pursuit of justice.”
President Biden has overwhelming media support for this campaign, and it’s working; he and the Democrats are up in the polls and are almost sure to keep the Senate, if not the House. Even with the country arguably already in recession, the GOP is muffing it.
Still, one wonders what President Biden means when he says his opponents are “authoritarian.” What rights would he grant us? Do we still have free speech? At a recent summit, the President said that social media platforms must be “accountable for spreading hate and fueling violence.” We already know that the government, even under President Trump, has pressured media companies to ban people they don’t like. The Biden administration failed to launch a “Disinformation Panel” that would be run out the Department of Homeland Security, but it didn’t change its policies. It’s just less open about them. The federal government telling companies what speech they should ban is a perfect example of “authoritarianism.”
Unconfirmed reports coming from China have revealed shocking information regarding the South Asian country’s President Xi Jinping. Though the Chinese media has not confirmed the rumours, tweets by Chinese handles suggest that President Xi Jinping has been put under house arrest by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The development comes a day after Bloomberg reported that a Chinese court sentenced a former top security official to life in prison, completing a crackdown on the “political clique” he led against Xi Jinping just weeks before a crucial Communist Party reshuffle.
A former vice president for the EcoHealth Alliance, a major funder of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, claims that his organization "developed" SARS-CoV-2 through gain-of-function research that makes viruses more dangerous.
"The process of developing SARS-COV2 was also described in detail in the proposal submitted to, and ultimately funded by, the National Institutes of Health (HHS NIH), The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), by EcoHealth Alliance with the WIV and [University of North Carolina] listed as collaborators," according to the sworn declaration of Andrew Huff, who is represented by the attorney Thomas Renz.
The statement is included in a much larger packet dated Sept. 12 posted by Renz, who represents clients challenging COVID-19 mandates, apparently directed to Wisconsin GOP Sen. Ron Johnson, whose name is in the file name. The packet has irregular punctuation and capitalization throughout.
Webmaster addition: WW3 will not be a nuclear war. WW3 will be a biological war!
In recent days I have written several articles explaining that the upcoming November congressional election is likely to be either stolen like the 2020 presidential election or federalized so that the outcome is in Democrat hands. I have pointed to the Democrat Party, FBI, and whore media’s positioning of Trump as a national security threat who stole national security documents and left them scattered around on tables in his Mar-a-Lago home so Russian spies posing as domestic help could copy them. This narrative supports Biden’s recent speech in which he declared half of the US electorate to be threats to the United States.
Newsweek, in the distant past a news magazine but today a weapon against Trump, reports that a FBI official says Russian agents may have been on the scene to get the information.
Guess who the FBI official is. Peter Strzok, the disgraced FBI official who was fired for his participation in the FBI’s Russiagate plot against a sitting president of the United States. Emails between Strzok and his FBI lover underline their efforts to prevent Trump’s election and to unseat President Trump if he is elected president.
As readers know, I am convinced that Putin’s toleration of insults and provocations has had the effect of encouraging more and worse provocations and not, as he intended, to downplay conflict. As you also know, I am convinced that his “limited military operation” in Donbass designed to protect the Donbass Russians, formerly a part of Russia, from horrible abuse by Ukrainian forces and the neo-Nazi militias, was a mistake. It is a mistake because the West characterized a limited operation as an “invasion of Ukraine,” and used its slow progress as evidence of Russian failure. It is a mistake because the go-slow nature of the Russian offensive in order to minimize the impact on civilian lives and infrastructure gave the West plenty of time to convince itself to get more and more involved with diplomatic support, money, armaments and ammunition, training, and now with satellite information for targeting the Russian forces.
As I see it, Putin has been behaving as British Prime Minister Chamberlain is alleged to have behaved, thus encouraging more aggressive actions. Wanting peace at all costs brings war.
Vladimir Putin has announced that referenda will be held in four regions of the eastern part of Ukraine whose populations will now vote on whether to join the Russian Federation, much like the Crimea referendum of 2014 which resulted in Russia's annexation of that territory. Putin announced that 300,000 additional troops will be mobilized for the war to help facilitate this action, which is a major escalation in the conflict by any measure.
Putin also issued a stern nuclear warning that's being hysterically spun by empire managers as a shocking and unprecedentedly bellicose threat, but if you read what he actually said it's clear that he's really reminding the west of the same principles of Mutually Assured Destruction that have been in place for generations, and isn't expressing any position that western nuclear powers don't also hold:
The Joe Biden administration has sent several warnings to Russia via backchannels regarding the possible use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine, the Washington Post reports. The White House’s messages to Russia have been intentionally nondescript to foster uncertainty in Moscow about what the US would do if Russia deployed its ultimate weapon.
The White House has sent the message several times since the war in Ukraine started, according to the US officials who spoke with the Post. The White House’s communications with the Kremlin have been intentionally vague.
The Biden administration believes these nonspecific threats will deter Russia through "strategic ambiguity." "Strategic ambiguity" is an intentionally unclear policy that causes the enemy not to act out of fear it could cross a red line without knowing it.
For nearly 50 years, the US maintained a policy of "strategic ambiguity" toward Taiwan. By refusing to commit to defending the island, Washington has deterred Taipei from declaring independence. At the same time, suggesting it could defend Taiwan has deterred China from acting more aggressively against the island.
However, Biden has taken steps towards abandoning "strategic ambiguity" towards Taiwan. Since taking office, Biden has said he would go to war for Taipei four times.
A federal judge in Arizona has blocked a motion to quash a Congressional Subpoena requesting phone records by Plaintiffs Michael P. Ward and Kelli Ward, the State GOP Chairwoman.
The French political philosopher Pierre Manet once observed that “human beings are thinking animals who need tolerably accurate ideas and evaluations to orient themselves in the world.” He went on to note that “this is truer the more intellectually active and able the person concerned.”
With regard to the war in Ukraine, we might reasonably ask whether there exist any “tolerably accurate” evaluations – not only of the current situation on the ground, but of how we got to this point.
It may be only a slight exaggeration to say that the reporting and analysis about the war on offer from the most widely seen and read news outlets in the United States are about as diverse as those on offer in, say, North Korea.
