A federal judge in Texas has ruled that an 1868 ban on at-home distilling is unconstitutional.

U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman, in his ruling on Wednesday, sided with the Hobby Distillers Association's lawyers that the 156-year-old ban exceeded Congress's taxing power and violated the U.S. Constitution's Commerce Clause. The Hobby Distillers Association is a group that advocates legalizing a person's production of spirits such as whiskey and bourbon for their personal consumption.

"Indeed, the Constitution is written to prevent societal amnesia of the defined limits it places on this government of and by the people," Pittman wrote. "That is where the judiciary must declare when its coequal branches overstep their Constitutional authority. Congress has done so here."

Campaigners have uncovered worrying teaching materials for the Pentagon's 160 military schools that many service members may see as unpatriotic and even scary.

Training manuals for its 8,000 teachers advise that Thanksgiving feasts have no historical basis and that America was founded on land 'stolen' from natives.

Though uncontroversial for some, Adam Andrzejewski, who uncovered the documents via public records requests, calls it a 'perverse' way to teach kids of service members.

His revelations come as Republicans and Democrats clash in the Senate over LGBTQ+ troops and other controversies in the $886 billion defense bill.

Andrzejewski, head of the conservative watchdog OpenTheBooks.com, described a 'secret push within the Pentagon's K-12 public schools to institute radical ideologies' in classrooms.

The Daily Wire's Jordan Peterson on Friday threw a fit on Twitter demanding mass censorship of all anonymous accounts after someone used AI to make fun of him.

Peterson tagged Elon Musk with an AI image someone made of him looking like a rat and demanded he hold them "accountable."

The post Peterson whined about to Musk for portraying him as a rat was swiftly censored for violating "X's rules against Hateful Conduct."

"This all started because YOU called ME a rat," Nick Fuentes responded. "But now that your insult is being thrown back at you, you demand the unmasking of anonymous to ensure 'accountability' -- which really means chilling free speech under threat of retaliation. You are a shameless hypocrite and a fraud."

When you're President of the United States, you can lose a vote, you can lose popular support, and you can lose a round of golf. But you're never, ever supposed to lose the biscuit.

That's what they call the card the president is meant to keep close at hand, bearing the codes that he has to have in order to launch a nuclear attack. And for several months during the Clinton administration, a former top military officer says they lost the biscuit.

A federal appeals court panel ruled 2-1 on Friday that Tennessee does not unconstitutionally discriminate against transgender people by not allowing them to change the sex designation on their birth certificates.

“There is no fundamental right to a birth certificate recording gender identity instead of biological sex,” 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Jeffrey Sutton wrote for the majority in the decision upholding a 2023 district court ruling. The plaintiffs could not show that Tennessee’s policy was created out of animus against transgender people as it has been in place for more than half a century and “long predates medical diagnoses of gender dysphoria,” Sutton wrote.

The Biden Administration has been trying for the past couple of years to get people to adopt technology that is not fully ready for the purposes they intend it to be for.

States are beginning to rebel at this notion of replacing every car on the road with an electric one.

Virginia is one of the states that has the sense to see that this is something that at this point, as I said earlier, is nothing more than a good idea.

Bottom line, you as a caretaker gotta PROVE you're acting as the parents would. It's always best to get the parents "orders" on 'how ' they prefer discipline be handled. Ever hear of the Babysitters act? in 'loco parentis' IN LOCO PARENTIS: DEFINITION, APPLICATION, AND IMPLICATION In loco parenti's connotes a relation with which few, if any, persons have not had some contact; yet these words are foreign to the vocabulary of many. In loco parentis has been defined as follows: "In the place of a parent; instead of a parent, charged factitiously with a parent's rights, duties, and responsibilities."1 Whether the relation, in loco parentis, exists depends on the facts of each individual situation.2 If such a relation exists, the rights, duties, and liabilities of the person standing "in the place of a parent" are the same as those of a lawful parent. The assumption of the relation is a question of intention and not of chance. Once established, the relationship is presumed to to continue, and the one claiming discontinuance has the burden of so proving.

President Joe Biden's latest effort to soothe panicked House Democrats Friday fell flat after he showed up late to a zoom meeting, skeptics couldn't ask questions, and one zoom attendee promptly came out against him.

The calamity came as Biden met with members of a progressive BOLD PAC associated with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, as he leads on key constituencies even as dozens of members of his own party call for him to go.

The zoom session came hours after Biden's press conference where he calmed some Democrats by fielding questions at length with his future on the line, but also botched Kamala Harris' name by calling her 'Vice President Trump.'

Biden was an hour late to an event that was 'tightly controlled,' NOTUS reported in a blow-by-blow of the bizarre session, following reports that Biden's cabinet meetings are also highly scripted. (Biden once again called from a prepared list of reporters at his press conference.

On the inaugural episode of "Blaze News Tonight," co-hosts Jill Savage and Blaze News editor in chief Matthew Peterson chatted with Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts about Project 2025 and the left's gross mischaracterization of it in a tired attempt to frighten Americans out of voting for Republicans.

As questions continue to swirl about Joe Biden's cognitive abilities and his overall fitness for office, Democrats have seemingly attempted to distract voters from the chaos in their own house by frequently casting the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 as a threat to democracy. As part of that effort, they have also attempted to tie Project 2025 to former President Donald Trump, who has no official association with it.

This week, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation that alters how election recounts are conducted in the state. The new laws prohibit county canvassers from investigating allegations of fraud.

The text of Senate Bill 603 changes provisions around election recounts, and it states that a recount will not be an “investigation or an audit of the conduct of an election” and will not determine “the qualifications of electors participating in an election or the manner in which ballots are applied for or issued to electors.”

A California U.S. Army veteran serving an 18-month prison sentence for obstructing Congress on Jan. 6, 2021, was ordered released July 12 under the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the most commonly charged Jan. 6 felony and its maximum 20-year prison term.

Jorge Aaron Riley, 46, of Sacramento, will be released “forthwith” from the federal lockup in Lompoc, California, under an order issued July 12 by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta in Washington, D.C. Mehta granted Riley's request for bail pending resolution of a motion to vacate the sentence.

Riley’s release is the latest fallout from the Supreme Court’s ruling in the landmark case Fischer v. United States. In a 6-3 opinion on June 28, the high court said the U.S. Department of Justice could only use the felony obstructing charge if it could prove defendants impaired the use of documents, objects, or “other things” used during counting of Electoral College votes at the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6.

Grocery inflation is slowing, and the companies that make the food are starting to sweat.

As part of their quarterly earnings reports Thursday, snack powerhouses PepsiCo and Conagra Brands reported lower revenue and unit sales, pointing to cost-conscious consumers pushing back on prices. And government data reflects the trend: the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that food prices rose only slightly last month.

“We’re seeing consumers be very price sensitive,” said Bobby Gibbs, a partner in the retail and consumer goods division of the marketing consulting firm Oliver Wyman. “Consumers are cherry picking promotional prices more and retailers are putting out more promotional pricing than they have in the last few years.”

In the past three years China has accelerated export agreements and industrial operations in Africa, becoming the continent's largest bilateral trade partner. Given Africa's complete lack of development and GDP, the Asian rush to cement economic ties might seem strange. However, I would argue that China is adapting to events that haven't quite happened yet. I'm referring to a major global shift away from interdependent markets (i.e. traditional globalism) into a chaotic period of trade protectionism. I'm talking about the end of the current model of export-based nations supplying goods to the west in exchange for advantageous trade deficits and access to dollars. This will be the era of what I would call the “Great Resource Grab.”

Elon Musk posted on Friday in response to accusations from the European Commission, saying that the EU body offered X an illegal secret deal promising not to fine the company if it censored speech on the platform. A report from the Commission accused X of deceiving users with "verified accounts” that have the “Blue checkmark," a change that took place when Musk bought up the platform. It also took issue with public data on the platform not being shared with “researchers."

In response to the report from the Commission, Musk posted, "The European Commission offered X an illegal secret deal: if we quietly censored speech without telling anyone, they would not fine us. The other platforms accepted that deal. X did not."

Raheem Kassam, Editor-in-Chief of The National Pulse, believes Joe Biden’s death could prove to be the ‘October Surprise’ in the U.S. election, even if the so-called “Clinton diaspora” has to “make it happen.”

Citing an Axios report that quotes a Bill Clinton administration official as saying the “Clinton diaspora is freaking the hell out” about Biden’s reelection prospects, Kassam referred his social media followers to a podcast from Thursday where he raised the possibility of the 81-year-old dying.

“You had a snap election in the UK, and you had a snap election in France,” Kassam said on the podcast. “There’s a globalist theme for 2024. I just would not be surprised—do not put it past them—to watch Joe Biden die on his feet in front of the American public. Maybe not literally, but literally to pass away, a week, two weeks, three weeks before an election, and then, boom, it’s a snap election, it’s a snap candidate.”

In these circumstances, Kassam said, the Democrats could strongly benefit from a “sympathy vote.”
