"I offered my opponents a deal: "if they stop telling lies about me, I will stop telling the truth about them"." -- Adlai Stevenson, campaign speech, 1952

It became an important trading post for the Romans and eventually became the largest city in all of Europe with a population of 200,000 people during the 1300s. They lost some numbers during the Black Plague and several wars, but today, more than two million people call the City of Lights home.
