In support of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Resistance in the Gaza Strip, the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - Hezbollah, executed five operations against Israeli military sites in occupied northern territories.

At 4:00 PM (local time) Hezbollah announced that their fighters targeted a grouping of "enemy soldiers in the vicinity of the Jal al-Aallam" Israeli military site. It is worth noting that, the targeted site is located near the coast of occupied Palestine and is equipped with high-tech military-grade surveillance and spyware systems.

Later, at 4:43 PM (local time) the Lebanese Resistance conducted two simultaneous operations on the al-Marj military site and the "Ramim" Barracks.

In the al-Marj military site, Resistance fighters targeted a grouping of Israeli occupation soldiers in the vicinity of the site, which is located opposite the Lebanese town of Markaba, in southeastern Lebanon.

It is the fifty-sixth day since the Hamas attack on October 7 that resulted in the deaths of about 1,200 Israelis. The ensuing Israeli onslaught has by now killed over 15,000 Palestinians, including over 6,000 children. A negotiated temporary ceasefire, with extensions, has seen the exchange of several hostages between Israel and Hamas, freeing the initially agreed 150 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for 50 Israeli captives, with a few extensions raising those figures to 180 Palestinians and 105 Israelis (and other nationalities). The Israeli bombings have now resumed, with Israel now urging residents in the south of the strip to evacuate (earlier, residents in the north were urged to evacuate south).   

The mind is overwhelmed by the scale and the pace of the destruction in Gaza, the likes of which we have not witnessed at any point in recent memory. Many may justifiably be left wondering whether Israel has officially gone mad, or whether the indiscriminate devastation that is overwhelmingly slaughtering Palestinian civilians, by Israel’s own account, remains part of a calculated strategy. Paradoxically, the answer is yes to both: Israel has gone mad, and its madness is being rationally employed in the service of a well-worn military playbook. That playbook is called “the Dahiya Doctrine.”

At least 109 Palestinians have been killed since the conclusion of a week-long ceasefire, the Gaza Ministry of Health reported on Friday. Hundreds more have been wounded as Israel resumed its high-intensity bombardment of the enclave.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed it had struck more than 200 targets since the ceasefire expired at 7am local time on Friday, noting that the assault has resumed across ground, air, and sea on both north and south Gaza, including the cities of Khan Younis and Rafah. 

After releasing 110 hostages during the ceasefire, Hamas still holds 137 captives, Israeli government spokesperson Eylon Levy told reporters on Friday, promising to deliver “the mother of all thumpings” to the Palestinian militants for “failing to release all the kidnapped women.” The vast majority – 126 – are Israelis. 

Israeli spies are preparing to assassinate Hamas leaders living in Lebanon, Türkiye, and Qatar once the war with the militant group is over in Gaza, officials have told the Wall Street Journal. The operation was reportedly planned more than a month ago, but postponed so that hostage negotiations could take place.

The Israeli intelligence services began drawing up plans for the assassination campaign after Hamas’ October 7 attack on the Jewish state, the American newspaper reported on Thursday, citing anonymous officials. Some reportedly wanted to embark on the campaign immediately, but were ordered to wait so that negotiations to free the roughly 240 hostages held by Hamas could progress.

The killings have been authorized by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the officials said, adding that it is now a matter of when, not if, the campaign will begin.

The United States has delivered 100 units of 2,000-pound BLU-109 bunker buster bombs among thousands of other ammunition and weapons systems to Israel in the war against the Palestinian movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, US media reported on Friday.

Among the nearly 15,000 bombs and 57,000 artillery shells delivered to the Israeli military following Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, the United States has also transferred 100 BLU-109 bunker buster bombs, media reported, citing US officials.

The BLU-109 bomb, created to cause maximum damage, carries a 2,000-pound warhead capable of penetrating concrete shelters, it was reported. Israel could use such bunker buster bombs to penetrate Hamas’ vast network of underground tunnels and installations.

However, several security analysts have pointed out that the delivery of such bombs to Israel is inconsistent with the calls made by senior US officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, to protect civilians and minimize human loss of life.

The Biden administration needs an Israeli victory in Gaza in order to undermine BRICS and other economic integration initiatives led by Russia and China, veteran geopolitical analyst Pepe Escobar told the New Rules podcast.

“This is an American diversionist tactic to once again go against BRICS multipolarity, especially given the fact that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates now have a very graphic, tangible opportunity to link themselves to the birth of the new Eurasia when they become members of BRICS,” he said.

Escobar noted that during the G20 summit in New Delhi in September, the United States and Israel unveiled the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) initiative. House Republicans on Friday demanded all communications between Special Counsel Jack Smith and Merrick Garland’s DOJ about the decision to indict President Trump.

After becoming Director of the CIA (DCI) in 1997, George Tenet did what Louis Freeh had done after his appointment as FBI Director. He began to cultivate close personal relationships with the rulers of Saudi Arabia. Like Freeh, Tenet grew especially close to Prince Bandar, the Saudi ambassador to the United States. Bandar and Tenet often met at Bandar’s home near Washington, yet Tenet did not share information from those meetings with his own officers who were handling Saudi issues at the Agency. The CIA’s Saudi specialists only learned about Tenet’s dealings with the Saudi authorities inadvertently, through their Saudi contacts. It seems that Tenet was operating within a network that surpassed the interests of the American public. Therefore the unsolved crimes of 9/11, attributed largely to young men from Saudi Arabia, should be considered in light of Tenet’s actions.

As Deputy Director for the CIA, in 1996, Tenet had worked to install one of his closest friends and confidants, John Brennan, as CIA station chief in Saudi Arabia. Brennan is now the DCI, but in his previous role, Brennan often communicated directly with Tenet, avoiding the usual chain of command. At the time, as an apparent favor to the Saudis, CIA analysts were discouraged from questioning Saudi relationship to Arab extremists.

The unusual relationship that both George Tenet and Louis Freeh had with Saudi intelligence (and George H.W. Bush) recalls the private network that was created in the mid-1970s to accomplish covert actions though means of proxies. This private network included disgruntled CIA officers who had been fired by President Carter, as well as the group known as The Safari Club and the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI).

The White House has come under scrutiny for potential violations of the Hatch Act, a federal law designed to prevent federal employees from using their official positions to influence elections.

According to a letter shared by NBC News, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates were found to have acted “contrary” to the guidelines of the Hatch Act. This followed a warning issued to Jean-Pierre for using the term “MAGA” to negatively describe certain Republicans, which is considered a violation of the 1939 statute.

The Air Force said Friday it has decided to retire an F-35A stealth jet as it was seriously damaged by a bird strike in January 2022.

The Air Force said a comprehensive analysis with its U.S. manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, showed that the F-35A suffered damage in about 300 components, including the airframe, structure, engine and control and navigation system.

Considering the high costs and long period needed for repairs and other security concerns, the Air Force's review committee concluded that it is better to retire the aircraft than to fix it. The plan will be finalized with the defense ministry's approval.

Israel’s military has made no secret of the intensity of its bombardment of the Gaza Strip. In the early days of the offensive, the head of its air force spoke of relentless, “around the clock” airstrikes. His forces, he said, were only striking military targets, but he added: “We are not being surgical.”

There has, however, been relatively little attention paid to the methods used by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to select targets in Gaza, and to the role artificial intelligence has played in their bombing campaign.

As Israel resumes its offensive after a seven-day ceasefire, there are mounting concerns about the IDF’s targeting approach in a war against Hamas that, according to the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza, has so far killed more than 15,000 people in the territory.

The IDF has long burnished its reputation for technical prowess and has previously made bold but unverifiable claims about harnessing new technology. After the 11-day war in Gaza in May 2021, officials said Israel had fought its “first AI war” using machine learning and advanced computing.

Former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, who had been the Democrats’ star witness at the Jan. 6 congressional hearings, made substantial revisions to her statements and the information she had supplied in transcribed interviews with the U.S. House of Representatives reaching back to February 2022.

These revisions had been kept secret from the American public.

The 15-page errata sheet, which was recently discovered by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), contains substantial revisions to Hutchinson’s narrative of pivotal incidents surrounding the Capitol riot, Just the News reported.

These include, among other things, whether guns were present at the Washington D.C. rally preceding the riot on January 6, 2021, and her knowledge of a meeting where chants allegedly urging to “Hang Mike Pence” were allegedly uttered.

A digital signature indicating Hutchinson’s approval of the revisions was included on the errata sheet.

The GOP-controlled House on Thursday voted on a major issue involving migrants who are currently in the U.S. illegally amid a record surge following President Biden’s day-one reversals of his predecessor’s highly successful immigration and border enforcement policies.

Lawmakers passed a provision that bars the use of public land to temporarily house illegal migrants while they are applying for asylum, according to Colorado Newsline.

“The bill, H.R. 5283, passed with a majority of Republicans in support, 224–203,” the outlet reported, adding that the bill’s fate in the upper chamber is also certain, but not in a positive way for the GOP.

“It’s dead on arrival in the U.S. Senate, where Democrats hold a slim majority, and many Democrats criticized the bill as a messaging tactic for the 2024 elections, where hard-line immigration policies are the cornerstone of the GOP platform,” the outlet reported.

The inmate who stabbed former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in federal prison last week did so 22 times, with an improvised knife, according to recently filed criminal charges. He also admitted to corrections officers that he would have killed Chauvin had they not responded as quickly as they did.

The U.S. Attorney's Office identified the alleged perpetrator as 52-year-old John Turscak. He now faces charges of attempted murder, assault with intent to commit murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Chauvin was badly hurt after he was stabbed in a federal prison one week ago; the charging documents indicate the stabbing happened in the law library at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson, Arizona. Chauvin is currently serving his 22-year-old sentence there. The former police officer was convicted of killing George Floyd during an arrest in May 2020.
