National governments are infringing on citizens’ human rights by not doing enough to tackle climate change, the European Court of Human Rights has held in a landmark ruling that could have far-reaching consequences and influence climate policy across the continent.

In a highly-anticipated judgment, the Strasbourg court on Tuesday sided with a group of Swiss pensioners who brought a claim against their national government for its perceived failure to act sufficiently in reducing carbon emissions, claiming that existing climate policy was violating their human rights.

The members of the KlimaSeniorinnen group, supported by environmental campaign groups such as Greenpeace, argued that elderly citizens are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, citing the fact that excess deaths occur more regularly among the elderly during periods of extreme heat because they are less able to regulate their body temperature.

The group also claimed that heat waves impact the mental well-being of elderly citizens more because they are less able to go outside and withstand the heat, which they argue affects their quality of life.

The association relied on Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which protects the general right to life, and Article 8, which guarantees the right to private and family life.

Domestic governments are obliged to take “reasonable and appropriate measures” to secure these rights, steps members of the KlimaSeniorinnen group claimed the Swiss government had not taken.

The litigation had been appealed by the group up to the top human rights court in Europe after its claim was rejected first by the Federal Administrative Court in Switzerland and then by the Federal Supreme Court, the country’s highest ruling body.

The judgment is the third of three similar cases the court was asked to consider in respect to the correlation between climate change and human rights and sets a precedent that all national courts in Council of Europe member states will be required to adhere to.

Claire's Observations:  Folks, this is eco-fearmongering, writ large.  I am hoping and praying for this case to be adjudicated negatively, because any other outcome will, ultimately, affect the lives and pockets of all Americans.  And as to average temperatures in Switzerland in the summer?!? A simple Google search gives us the answer:  "The summer weather in Switzerland can range from warm and sunny to rainy and foggy on the same day—and often within hours. From June to August, average temperatures will climb from the low- to mid-60s up to the high 70s F. Heat waves are possible, and could drive temperatures up to the 90s at lower elevations.Nov 10, 2021"  And to the folks pursuing this lawsuit, when it gets into the 90s (only at lower elevations, and this is rare) stay inside, then enjoy the rest of your beautiful summer weather!!

Australia’s Supreme Court is set to rule this week on a case brought by a biological male, identifying as a woman, who is seeking full access to a woman-only app, and a written apology from the company for not allowing him to join.

Roxanne Tickle, a man who identifies as a woman, sued the app “Giggle for Girls” in December of 2022 for discrimination after he was not allowed to join the female-only networking app.

The respondent in the case is represented by Katherine Deves of Alexander Rashidi Lawyers. Deves stated that the landmark case forces the country’s Supreme Court to answer the question, “What is a woman?”

The Australian Supreme Court heard the case, Tickle v. Giggle, on April 9 and is expected to issue a ruling later this week.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) told teenagers at an eclipse-viewing event on Monday that the moon was made up of “gases” — and despite that, she wanted to be among the first who had a chance to live there.

Jackson Lee, 74, addressed a crowd of teenaged students outside of Houston’s Booker T. Washington High School — and she delivered a series of scientifically dubious comments ahead of the celestial phenomenon.

According to a new poll, Hispanic and Latino voters are increasingly turning on President Joe Biden in favor of the presumptive Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump.

At the same time, the poll shows that Latino voters still heavily identify with, and may be slightly trending toward the Democratic Party.

The Axios/Ipsos poll “of over 1,000 Latino/Hispanic Americans” was published Tuesday and “conducted in partnership with Noticias Telemundo” from March 22 to March 28.

The poll measured the change in Latino voters’ favorability ratings of Biden and Trump from December 2021 to March 2024.

It found that over this period of time, Biden’s average favorability rating among Latinos fell 12 points (from 53% to 41%), while Trump’s favorability rating among Latinos increased by eight points (from 24% to 32%).

In a stunning decision Tuesday, the Arizona Supreme Court upheld an 1864 pro-life law protecting almost all unborn children in the state.

However, many prominent Republicans in the state harshly rebuked the ruling.

The court ruled 4-2 Tuesday that the law which was passed when Arizona was still a U.S. territory is “now enforceable” and will be enacted in two weeks.

The over century-and-a-half-old law is set to replace the state’s existing pro-life law which only protects most unborn children after 15 weeks gestation.

Drone attacks on warships have been in the news a lot lately, ushering in what is arguably a new era of naval combat, one that even the most powerful navies in the world don't appear ready to fully confront on a grand scale.

In and around the Red Sea, the constant Houthi aerial drone attacks on ships, including U.S. and allied surface combatants, have made major headlines. Near Ukraine, we have seen repeated successful attacks on Russian warships via unmanned surface vessels. The use of relatively inexpensive unmanned systems in a maritime context is typically viewed through the lens of them being threats to warships. However, the potential for lower-end drones to be used to those same warships' advantages, both defensively and offensively, is arguably just as big of a deal.

Yet few are talking about it, especially when it comes to using crewed vessels rather than the possibility of uncrewed ones as hosts sometime in the future.

Violence continues to escalate on Russian borders. Invading troops keep carrying out air raids and land incursions, bringing terror to ordinary people on the border regions of Belgorod and Kursk. Not only this but recent reports also show that foreign soldiers are actively participating in these operations, there being therefore an international responsibility for the murder of Russian civilians on the borders.

The presence of foreign mercenaries in Kiev’s troops is nothing new. However, the Western media continues to prevent such information from reaching the public opinion, imposing censorship on reports made by journalists on the ground. However, censorship is not always enough to prevent information from going viral on social media. In recent days, some videos began to circulate on the internet showing that American soldiers are participating in the Ukrainian attacks on Belgorod.

In one of these videos, it is reported that an American citizen, believed to be the commander of the Ukrainian operation, was killed by Russian troops in Belgorod. The news shocked public opinion, causing Belgorod to remain among the trending topics on social networks such as X for some days. However, for those who know the reality of the frontlines at the borders, this information is not surprising.

Spoiler alert: we have another red flag in the treasury market.

The latest talk is to eliminate treasury holdings from the SLR (Supplemental Liquidity Ratio) calculation, which is used to determine how much banks need to set-aside to help “manage risk”.

Seen This Show Before

The Covid crisis brought about market chaos.  To manage the steep and fast decline, The Fed jumped into action and cut rates to zero and birthed QE infinity.  They also eliminated the banks’ reserve requirements.  The rule sounds just like it reads: banks no longer had to hold any reserves against deposit liabilities.  We already know there is nothing more permanent than a temporary government program, so this reckless policy still exists today.

We’ll remind our readers that we try to over-simply to make a point. The system and web of rules are extremely complex, especially when it comes to the plumbing of the treasury market.

Another handout occurred last year when we witnessed more bank failures than the 2008 GFC (Great Financial Crisis).  The big accommodative move to save the system was to allow banks to mark their (treasury) bond portfolio at “par” (100%), to avoid taking portfolio losses.  This was timely and convenient, as the TLT (Treasury Bond ETF) lost roughly 30% in 2022.  As a result of the 2022 bond market route (worst ever), the system is stuck with a pile of losses on the books.

Liquidity vs. Transparency

All these rule changes are meant to help “liquify” the system, thus reduce the odds of a systematic shock of sorts.  But these new rules come at the expense of transparency. We’re never quite sure who is holding what, thus we can lose track of where the land mines reside

Apparently, the Kiev regime is willing to sacrifice the lives of all Ukrainian citizens in order to continue fighting Russia. In a recent statement, the commander of the Ukrainian army stated that all the people of the country must be prepared to go to war, making it clear that no citizen will escape military mobilization policies.

In a social media post, the commander of Kiev’s ground forces, Aleksandr Pavlyuk, stated that all eligible Ukrainians will fight on the battlefield at some point, considering the country’s armed forces’ constant need to replace their losses on the front lines. He called on all Ukrainians to “put aside their emotions” and enlist as soon as possible in the defense forces to “protect the state.” More than that, he said fighting Russia is a “constitutional duty” of all Ukrainian citizens.

Back in October 2022, YouTube had nuked my main channel, TruthJihadRadio (which isbacked up at AltCensored). The only reasons they gave were vague statements about “medical misinformation” and “questioning the results of an American election.” (Those two topics, medicine and election controversies, constituted less than .1% of my content, and I did not push any particular viewpoints on those topics very hard.)

Since then, I have been using my backup channel, TruthJihad, for posting international TV interviews, mostly with Tehran-based Press TV and Ofogh TV. In those interviews I regularly express opposition to US foreign policy and Zionism, not necessarily in that order. The genocide of Gaza, of course, has been the topic du jour for the past six months.

I was very careful not to post my own podcasts on my sole remaining YouTube channel, since my guests and I occasionally express skepticism about COVID policies and elections. I assumed that if all I posted was professors and pundits discussing international politics on mainstream (foreign) TV, there is no way that YouTube would even give me any strikes, much less take down my channel.

I assumed wrong. Well, actually, I was right about not getting any strikes. Normally it is YouTube’s policy to semi-randomly assess strikes for “election skepticism” or “medical misinformation” or “hate speech.” They don’t take down a channel until it has been assessed three strikes. But this time I didn’t get any strikes, or any warnings of any kind whatsoever. Out of the blue, they just took down the channel.

Criminal probes into the financing of terrorist activities in Russia and abroad have been launched against several private companies, the country’s Investigative Committee announced on Tuesday. The list of suspects includes the Ukrainian industrial conglomerate Burisma Holdings, linked to a corruption scandal surrounding the Biden family that has been dragging on for years.

The criminal investigation stems from a complaint filed by a group of Russian MPs and public figures in theaftermath of the deadly Crocus City Hall attack outside Moscow last month. The original complaint identified the US and its allies as allegedly organizing a string of attacks on Russian soil.

Pakistan has started construction of an 80-kilometre section of a gas pipeline with Iran despite receiving sanction threats from the US. Working against US interests, though, the threat of sanctions only pushes Pakistan not only closer to Iran but also to China and Russia.

Construction for the pipeline from Gwadar in southwest Pakistan to a junction where it can join the Iranian gas pipeline finally started after years-long delays and Washington’s recent threat of sanctions.

“Authorities have commenced the work to begin the construction of the 80-kilometre section of the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline from Gwadar to a point where it can be connected with the Iranian section of the project,” GEO TV reported.

Citing a senior official of Pakistan’s Energy Ministry, the report added that “the Inter-State Gas Company (ISGS) has already issued tenders seeking the much-delayed re-validation of survey and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) by consultants. Once this process is completed, the authorities will commence the land acquisition process which will then be followed by the awarding of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract.”

Iran's foreign minister said on Monday that Washington military leaders gave Israel the "green light" to conduct a missile strike on its consulate building complex in Damascus last week that killed several of its top military officials, including two generals.

Hossein Amirabdollahian said, "Our response to the Zionist regime and its punishment is certain." He continued that "conveying the message of our country to the United States as a full-fledged support of the Zionist regime and direct response for its crimes and actions."

Addressing those warnings, in the US, National Security Council Strategic Communicators Coordinator John Kirby stated at a press conference on Monday that he couldn't touch on the specific intelligence matters but pointed out that "the Israeli government could count on the United States' support for any self-defense needs against threats directly by Iran to Israel, threats that Iran has made public."

As a possible military response by Tehran nears, Kirby also warned US troops across the Middle East, especially in Iraq and Syria, face mounting threats from drone and missile attacks.

The question on everyone's mind in the intel community is how Iran will respond. Tehran has many options, but which will it use?

Bloomberg report on Monday titled "Iran's Better, Stealthier Drones Are Remaking Global Warfare" reminded us how Iran's mastery of low-tech drone warfare poses a significant threat to US military bases and oil infrastructure in the Middle East.

Earlier this year, three American troops were killed, and more than three dozen were injured by an Iranian-designed kamikaze drone at the Tower 22 US military base in Jordan.

"The last two years have been a period of hyper-acceleration of new tactics and techniques for Iran's employment of drones," Matthew McInnis, a Pentagon intelligence officer, told Bloomberg.

In February, Iran's Aerospace Force Commander Brig. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh announced that Tehran-made stealth drones could target any moving vessel and critical infrastructure at great ranges.

Hajizadeh claimed that Iran is one of the world's leading powers in defense, including drone and missile technologies.

"We have now reached a point where the terrorist military of the United States openly admits that it is not seeking a conflict with the Islamic Republic because it is unable to resist the Iranian defense prowess," he said.

Iran's drones are becoming stealthier, and that has the US intel community up at night. Bloomberg pointed out, "The one that hit Tower 22 in January penetrated US defenses by shadowing an American drone that was landing there."

A spokesman for the US Department of Defense recently said Iran's procurement, development, and proliferation of drones are "an increasing threat to international peace and security." They noted that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin set up a panel of senior leaders last month to figure out "this urgent operational challenge."

Claire's Observations:  Sorry, folks, but I have to say the quiet part out loud, and with a bloody megaphone;  none of this crud would be happening right now, had Israel NOT bombed the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.  This was a completely calculated, albeit desperate move on the part of the Israeli military, to drag Iran into a wider, regional war, and the US with it.

(Sigh)  We absolutely need some "adults in the room", in Israel, Iran, and the US, to gently shake their leadership awake, having collectively gotten drunk on the power of their military prowess, and tell them, "Folks, cool your jets; it doesn't have to be like this!!

Unfortunately, we may well be "past the point of no return" in terms of these governments backing off, and giving a cease-fire in Gaza, and peace, a chance.  Netanyahu wants this war to never end to prevent his corruption trial from moving forward, and the Bidenistas understand that historically, this country has never voted out the party in power in the middle of a war.  And those are the reasons a larger regional war may now be inevitable.

The Department of Justice on Tuesday released a stunning report on the breathtaking scale of Covid-19 fraud perpetrated during the nearly three-years-long pandemic.

The Council of the Inspectors General, while making a renewed bid for more Congressional funding for the DOJ, highlighted numerous jaw-dropping examples of the rampant fraud that took place.

According to the previous federal government estimate from June 2023 cited in the latest report, more than $200 billion in fraud was committed due to Covid aid payments and related government programs.

However, the DOJ states that only $1.4 billion has been clawed back despite Congressional funding to investigate and litigate these crimes. It also notes that “more than 3,500 defendants” were charged with federal crimes and there were “more than 400 civil settlements and judgments.

A little over a month ago, a scandal erupted among the (relatively small( group of economists who keep a close eye on the monthly inflation data reported by the Biden Department of Labor, when they learned that there is an even smaller, and much more exclusive group of economists called "super users" who get preferential treatment from the BLS, including wink-wink-nudge-nudge explanations of where the data may diverge from expectations. That was the case for the January CPI when as Bloomberg first reported, the BLS sent an email to a group of data “super users”, which "explained suggested a surge in a measure of rental inflation — which left analysts puzzled — was caused by an adjustment to how subcomponents of the index are weighted":

Once it became public knowledge that there was a super secret group of preferential "accounts" receiving economic data, immediately following the Bloomberg report, a recipient of the email said that BLS Statistics "tried to retract it and that they were told to disregard its contents." Almost as if they were trying to hide it after the fact.

In retrospect, it appears the BLS really did have something to hide, because in a follow up from both the NYT and Bloomberg, we now learn that an economist from the Bureau of Labor Statistics was corresponding on data related the monthly CPI print with major firms like JPMorgan and BlackRock, in what Bloomberg said "raised questions about equitable access to economic information."

Extending on the report from February, records requested by Bloomberg revealed that the unnamed BLS economist answered numerous inquiries about details within the CPI in recent months, mostly related to computations in key categories within shelter as well as used cars, according to

The back and forth between the financial firms and the economist "who has been with the BLS for many years" was first reported by the New York Times;  as discussed previously, the government bureaucrat sent several emails to a broader group, which he called “my super users” in one of the emails obtained by Bloomberg. The BLS previously lied when it said it doesn’t maintain a list of “super users.

Claire's Observations:  This is completely typical of how the White House is being run in the Bidenista era of American politics; lie about something ; do something you are ethically absolutely not supposed to do,  then lie again once you've done it, once you've gotten caught.

You have to wonder, what the "quid pro quo" was, in terms of "contributions" or "perks" from these "super users".

Folks, this country absolutely deserves one hell of a lot better than this!!

A British energy company is to start drilling in the North Sea despite pressure on fossil fuel firms to cut back on oil and gas production. London-based EnQuest plans to bring two new oilfields onstream with the potential to extract 500 million barrels of crude in the coming decades.

It is expected plans for the sites neighbouring the Kraken oil and gas field will fuel the political battle over the future of the North Sea.

Labour has pledged to block new production over climate concerns but energy companies argue the party's plan risks cutting UK energy supplies before replacements can be developed.
