During the summer of protests that followed the Minneapolis police murder of George Floyd in May 2020, journalists and readers alike began taking a hard look at how much news reporting relied on police sources. In particular, the standard use of “police said” articles—where the main or only source of information came from law enforcement—was leading the media to publish information that was outright wrong.

In their first media statement on Floyd’s death, Minneapolis police claimed that officers had observed Floyd “suffering medical distress and called for an ambulance”; it was only when cellphone video emerged that it was reported that police were in fact kneeling on Floyd’s neck at the time (NBC News, 5/26/20).  To many, it was all too familiar a pattern: Five years earlier, the Baltimore Sun (4/24/15) had based its reporting on the police killing of Freddie Gray almost entirely on official police statements, downplaying eyewitness reports that officers had thrown Gray headfirst into a van shortly before he died of neck injuries.

“What the police tell you initially is a rumor,” Mel Reeves, an editor at the then-86-year-old African-American newspaper the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder told the Washington Post (6/30/20). “And a lot of the times it’s not accurate.” CNN (6/6/20), in a report on how camera footage often ended up disproving police claims, went further: “Videos from several recent incidents, and countless others from over the years, have shown what many Black Americans have long maintained: that police officers lie.”

Monica Lomax, a 59-year-old resident of Elkridge, Maryland, has been feeling the pinch of rising costs.

She’s had to tighten her budget, especially for groceries and clothing. Now, her shopping trips are primarily for essentials, a necessary adjustment in her life to manage the financial squeeze.

I was thinking about purchasing or downsizing into another home. But because the interest rates are still high, I’ve put that off,” she told The Epoch Times.

Many Americans like Ms. Lomax are putting off major life plans due to high inflation. Moving to a new home, buying new furniture, or booking a vacation now seem like distant dreams.

While some cling to the hope that things will eventually go back to normal, others fear that high inflation is here to stay.

Susan Garland, 47, from Elkridge, Maryland, believes inflation remains one of the top issues facing the country.

“We are definitely feeling it. We’re a two-person family. Our grocery bill is now over $100 a week,” she told The Epoch Times.

For more than 10 years, the Garlands’ grocery bills used to be roughly $70 per week—before high inflation hit, she noted. She and her husband have had to cut back on spending on everything, from vacations to eating out.

Her husband, plumber Michael Garland, 53, says homeowners are also reducing their spending on services, which has a direct impact on his income.

“If they can’t afford services, they won’t call me, which affects my job,” he said.

The annual inflation rate has significantly dropped from its peak of 9.1 percent in June 2022 to 3.4 percent in April this year. However, it’s still above the Federal Reserve’s 2 percent target rate. Some economists are cautioning that high inflation might be the new normal and are advising Americans to brace themselves for this reality.

Dipping Into Retirement

Adding to the financial woes, an increasing number of Americans are being forced to tap into their 401(k) savings early to cover emergencies and basic expenses.

Internal data from investment firm The Vanguard Group revealed that 3.6 percent of its participants made a “hardship withdrawal” last year, up from 2.8 percent in 2022.

This issue is particularly serious for retirees, as they face the risk of depleting their savings.

“While we are generally very frugal, it appears our efforts are not enough,” KT Hundsen from Minneapolis told The Epoch Times.

“I have noticed that my husband has cashed out several times, either bonds or stocks, in $10,000 amounts, to be able to pay our usual bills,” she said.

She and her husband are finding ways to reduce expenses by trimming their budget on clothing and furnishings, while also growing more plants and flowers from seeds in their garden.

We eat out once or twice a month with the grandkids, but instead of dinner, we go for breakfast, which is less costly,” she said.

Retirees rely on a fixed income from their pension plans or Social Security checks, and inflation is gradually depleting their investments and emergency reserves. In a recent report, Boston College projects that middle-income retirees will see a 14.2 percent decline in their financial wealth between 2021 and 2025 due to inflation.

Dennis O'Connor, an 84-year-old retiree from Temecula, Calif., says it’s harder for retirees to adjust their spending to cope with inflation.

“Personally, like most seniors, we have had to adjust not only our current spending but also our spending for a very unpredictable future,” Mr. O'Connor told The Epoch Times.

The Navy’s ongoing struggle to meet recruitment missions and the Marine Corps’ growing concerns over the shrinking pool of possible enlistees topped a Senate panel’s hearing on personnel issues facing the sea services last week.

The Navy predicts it will be 6,200 enlistees short of its 40,600 recruiting goal for Fiscal Year 2024, Vice Adm. Richard Cheeseman testified. Despite the likelihood of missing the goal, Cheeseman said the Navy is doing “significantly better than what we expected in the beginning of the fiscal year.” Earlier estimates by Navy civilian and uniform officials had the service missing mission by 6,700 enlistees.

“While I remain confident, I must acknowledge that these challenges exacerbate fleet manning shortages, putting additional stress on our force, which could negatively affect readiness and potentially impact future retention, in an environment where retention is ever important,” Cheeseman said in his written statement to the Senate Armed Services personnel subcommittee.

Richie Allen: They will say, where’s the proof and where’s the motivation? What do we have to gain by killing the Iranian president? What would they gain?

Kevin Barrett: Well, they’re extremely desperate right now. Their genocide in Gaza is getting them nowhere. They’ve fallen into a trap of their own making through the crazed rage that was their response to the very successful raid by Hamas on October 7th. And so they’ve been busily slaughtering women and children ever since, but they’re still losing the military fight. And the world has turned against them. Netanyahu in particular and his faction will only stay in power if they can keep this war getting bigger and bigger and bigger.

And Iran is their major adversary. They’ve been trying to drag the United States into an all-out war with Iran since 9/11, which was designed to take out seven countries in five years. And by far the most important was number seven, Iran. And they tried everything from stealing American nuclear weapons with the complicity of then Vice President Dick Cheney towards the end of the Bush-Cheney regime—They’ve tried everything in the book.

And now Netanyahu and his friends are going down. They need to turn this into World War III. They need to drag the U.S. into their war against Iran. And by murdering the Iranian president, they guarantee that Iran, once it determines that that’s what happened, is going to have to retaliate. And that, of course, could be spun as the provocation that leads to the war.

After two years of being on the receiving end of a weaponized global reserve currency, getting booted from SWIFT, countless (toothless) sanctions and watching some $350 billion of its assets be frozen and soon confiscated, Moscow has had enough, and over the weekend the FT reported that a St Petersburg court seized around €800 million worth of assets belonging to three western banks - Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank and UniCredit.

The seizure marks one of the largest moves against western lenders since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine prompted most international lenders to withdraw or wind down their businesses in Russia. It comes after the ECB told Eurozone lenders with operations in the country to speed up their exit plans.

According to court documents, the court seized €463 million-worth of assets belonging to Italy’s UniCredit, equivalent to about 4.5% of its assets in the country, according to the latest financial statement from the bank’s main Russian subsidiary.

Frozen assets include shares in subsidiaries of UniCredit in Russia as well as stocks and funds it owned, according to the court decision that was dated May 16 and was published in the Russian registrar on Friday.

The Slovak police are investigating a possible broader criminal conspiracy surrounding the May 15 attempted assassination of Prime Minister Robert Fico.

He was shot multiple times, and has survived his wounds, by what authorities initially said was a "lone-wolf" shooter who was immediately taken into custody. That official narrative appears to quickly be shifting, however.

Europe's most 'controversial' national leaders: Robert Fico and his ally and friend Viktor Orbán in Budapest.

The 71-year old attacker fired five shots while Fico greeted supporters in the street outside a government building, sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kalinak announced over the weekend of Fico, "He has emerged from the immediate threat to his life, but his condition remains serious and he requires intensive care."

"We can consider his condition stable with a positive prognosis," Kalinak said outside the hospital where the prime minister is expected to remain likely for an extended period of time. "We all feel a bit more relaxed now."

Concerning the shooter's motives, Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok has said in a fresh briefing that "the suspect was angered by the government’s Ukraine policy" and that he may not have been a lone wolf. According to Bloomberg:

On Sunday, authorities said that cooperation with domestic and foreign intelligence services had led to a broadening of the probe, to include a version in which a group - which wasn’t identified - may have been linked to the crime.

According to more details from Estok, "A potential broader assassination plot is supported by the fact that the assailant’s social media communications were erased by another person about two hours after the shooting."

The Interior Minister explained, "we added a version that it wasn’t only a lone-wolf attacker, but that the crime may have been conducted by a certain group of people."

There hasn't been an assassination attempt on a head of state in Europe for some two decades, international reports have underscored.

Fico had long been outspoken against deepening Western involvement in the Ukraine war, for which he's made many enemies and critics among Western allies, and of course within Ukraine itself.

For example, here's how CNN last October described his ascendancy to prime minister and leader of the small NATO member state... "A party headed by a pro-Kremlin figure came out top after securing more votes than expected in an election in Slovakia, official results show, in what could pose a challenge to NATO and EU unity on Ukraine."

While in the hospital fighting for his life, Fico's top officials have at times lashed out at Western media, telling reporters to 'reflect' on the way they cover the populist prime minister and his policies.

One does have to wonder;  a lot of things have been going rather badly for certain heads of state. recently.

Coincidence?!?  Possibly.  A real "force for assassination" of people who don't buy the "Great Reset" lie?  Also, possibly.

Another day, another indication of what a spectacular, snakebit clusterf**k the F-35 program is.

The latest blotter entry comes to us from the US Government Accounting Office (GAO), via a new report pointedly titled "F-35 Joint Strike Fighter: Program Continues to Encounter Production Issues and Modernization Delays."According to GAO, Lockheed Martin is running out of parking space for all the completed F-35s that the Pentagon refuses to accept.

These aren't one-by-one rejects. Last summer, the DOD put a complete freeze on accepting the stealth fighters until Lockheed fixed huge hardware and software problems associated with "Technology Refresh-3" (TR-3), a $1.8 billion package intended to expand the planes' capabilities.

Having prevented the UN Security Council from adopting Russia’s draft resolution, the West has confirmed its intention to continue militarizing space, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia said at a meeting of the Security Council.

Earlier, due to the position of Western countries, the UN Security Council did not adopt Russia's resolution on preventing an arms race in space. Russia, China, Algeria, Guyana, Ecuador, Mozambique, Sierra Leone voted in favor of the resolution. Switzerland abstained. The United States, France, Britain, Japan, Slovenia, the Republic of Korea, and Malta voted against.

Nebenzia pointed out how just in April, the US and its allies in the UNSC were fervently assuring everyone of their dedication to maintaining peace in space.

“Today, after they confirmed their real intentions to continue militarizing space and creating corresponding weapons, their attempts to justify their actions by the alleged non-consensual nature of our project look especially cynical and hypocritical,” Nebenzya said.

US lawmakers are weighing the option of imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court if it issues an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US House Speaker Mike Johnson said.

"In the absence of leadership from the White House, Congress is reviewing all options, including sanctions, to punish the ICC and ensure its leadership faces consequences if they proceed. If the ICC is allowed to threaten Israeli leaders, ours could be next," he said in a statement.

"The ICC has no authority over Israel or the United States, and today's baseless and illegitimate decision should face global condemnation," the statement went on to say.

Johnson also accused US President Joe Biden’s administration of helping the ICC by a campaign of pressure on Israel. The speaker said the ICC with its move is equating Israeli officials with Hamas.

"What's happening is not genocide," Biden, however, asserted.

After the capitulation of Kyiv, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky should be arrested and put on trial or liquidated as a terrorist. This was stated to TASS by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. “The further (after the capitulation of Ukraine - TASS) fate of Zelensky is not indifferent to us. He must be caught and put on trial for crimes against citizens of Russia and Ukrainians. If it is impossible to deliver such a criminal, the rules practiced for terrorists must be applied,” Medvedev emphasized. “This is exactly the fate that befell Zelensky’s spiritual teacher, Stepan Bandera,” he recalled.

For those who still don't get it--Medvedev IS NOT a "bad cop" in tandem with a "good cop" Putin. Medvedev is the SECOND in power in Russia's Security Council after Putin. Russia's Security Council is the MAIN strategic organ of Russia, a STAVKA of Supreme Command and State Defense Committee wrapped into one. New research suggests the human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) can trigger a rare autoimmune brain disorder that causes psychiatric or neurological symptoms following vaccination—and is easily mistaken as psychosis in its early stages.

A recently published study in Current Medicinal Chemistry identified a possible relationship between anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis and HPV vaccination.

Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis is an acute autoimmune disorder where the body creates antibodies against the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors in the brain. NMDA is a receptor of the amino acid glutamate. Glutamate is the most abundant excitatory neurotransmitter released by the brain’s nerve cells and plays a crucial role in learning and memory formation.

When the anti-NMDA antibodies attack the brain, they disrupt normal brain signaling, causing swelling—or encephalitis—and a host of neuropsychiatric symptoms such as hallucinations, cognitive disturbances, paranoia, aggression, epilepsy, movement disorder, impaired consciousness, and speech disorders. It’s these symptoms that often cause the condition to be misdiagnosed in its early stage as psychosis.

The Study

The paper’s author, Hsiuying Wang, is a professor of statistics at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. She looked at microRNA (miRNA) biomarkers to explore the relationship between anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis and vaccination.

Although vaccines, such as the HPV vaccine, do not directly induce autoimmune diseases, they can potentially induce an autoimmune response or worsen pre-existing autoimmune conditions in certain individuals,” Ms. Wang told The Epoch Times.

Ms. Wang performed a literature search and identified 16 microRNA (miRNA) biomarkers of HPV and studied biomarkers associated with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis. The analysis revealed at least four miRNA biomarkers that the two conditions commonly share.

According to The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, miRNAs regulate a range of developmental and physiological processes and are useful biomarkers for cancer and other diseases.

Using a phylogenetic tree, Ms. Wang then analyzed the relationship of the miRNA biomarkers associated with HPV and anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, as well as for other viruses related to anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis. A phylogenetic tree is a diagram that illustrates the evolutionary relationships between different organisms.

The study found a high degree of similarity between miRNA biomarkers associated with HPV and anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis or related vaccines when compared to overall miRNAs.

“While the direct causal connection between HPV and anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis is minimal, insights from the microRNA biomarker study underscore the importance of not overlooking the potential link between this condition and HPV vaccination,” Dr. Wang said.

“Therefore, in cases where individuals receiving the HPV vaccine develop psychiatric or neurological symptoms, a diagnosis of anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis should be considered after ruling out other complications,” she added.

Claire's Observations:  YIKES!!  Do moms and dads of young kids getting these shots, know about this?!?  and what about doctors and nurses "pushing" these shots, because there is some kind of "compensation" for so doing down the road?!? Do THEY know as well?!?

Because if parents do NOT know about this, they need to, with a HUGE warning label on the bottle, that this is possible, and why, with a signed consent by the parent, that they understand that this is a potential side-affect from the vaccine.

Were I a parent of a young child, I would walk away from any medical professional, "encouraging" me to have the shot given to my kid, when I knew the potential harm it could bring to them.

As the latest combat operations in the Kharkov oblast (region) unfold in a way that’s not exactly great for the Neo-Nazi junta, to put it mildly, its leadership is looking for someone to blame. The Kiev regime frontman Volodymyr Zelensky insists that it’s “the world’s fault” for the Russian military’s rapid advance. In an interview with ABC News, Zelensky argued that the delays in the so-called US “military aid” package resulted in a poor state of battle readiness of the Neo-Nazi junta forces, insisting they were not properly equipped to handle Moscow’s offensive operations. And indeed, the Kiev regime’s significant territorial losses resulted in the Russian military acquiring dominant elevated positions from which it could easily use its superior artillery to exercise near-total fire control over the entire northern Kharkov oblast and even beyond.

“Brigades are not totally equipped because of the package, which we waited through for eight months,” Zelensky told ABC News. When asked if he specifically blamed the United States, he said: “It’s the world’s fault. They gave the opportunity for Putin to occupy. But now the world can help.”

The plane crash that caused the death of Ebrahim Raisi, Iranian Head of State together with 8 other people, including Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, may have been an act of sabotage carried out by Israel against Iran.

Azerbaijan and Israel have been engaged in close cooperation since 1992.

Azerbaijan is one of the few Muslim-majority countries besides Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, Kosovo, Albania, Gulf countries and other former Soviet republics to develop bilateral strategic and economic relations with Israel.

In President Ilham Aliyev’s meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Aliyev praised the active role of the Jewish community living in Azerbaijan in the development of bilateral relations between the countries.

It is known that Israel maintains a strong military and intelligence presence in Baku. Technically, with the advanced technologies available to Israel and the knowledge of the destination and take-off locations of Raisi’s Iranian helicopter, it would not be difficult to geolocalise it even when flying beyond the border with Azerbaijan that is, in the place where the accident or attack occurred.

Where the so called ”incident” happened.

Benjamin Netanyahu and Yaya Sinwar, head of Hamas, could be wanted for war crimes and crimes against humanity and an international arrest warrant could soon hang on them from today. The International Criminal Court (ICC) will have to decide whether to accept the requests of chief prosecutor Karim Khan, who announced this today in an exclusive interview with CNN.

The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court wants to arrest Netanyahu

The International Criminal Court lacks jurisdiction over Israel and should not consider it equivalent with Hamas in any way, the White House and the State Department both said Monday.

ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant – as well as Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri, and Ismail Haniyeh – of “war crimes and crimes against humanity” in Gaza and Israel.

“The ICC prosecutor’s application for arrest warrants against Israeli leaders is outrageous,” US President Joe Biden said in a written statement. “And let me be clear: whatever this prosecutor might imply, there is no equivalence – none – between Israel and Hamas.  We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security.”

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s decision not to hold elections means his government has no legitimacy, according to Dmitry Medvedev, the head of Russia’s Security Council.

Zelensky’s five-year mandate expired on Tuesday but he has argued that the Ukrainian constitution does not allow him to call new presidential or parliamentary elections during martial law, which he declared in February 2022.

“All these manipulations with laws mean only one thing – the death of the failed state of Ukraine, its transformation into a classic failed state, to use American vocabulary,” Medvedev told TASS news agency on Monday.

The US and its allies have supported Zelensky’s efforts to stay in power because they feared “the shameful fall of his criminal regime,” Medvedev added.
