"Alone among all of Earth's life forms, humans alone perceive the absolute inevitability of their own mortality. For thousands of years, con artists have exploited that fear of the inevitable end of life, offering for sale various magical escapes from the grave, and all the acolytes have to do is surrender their money, their obedience, and their sanity." -- Michael Rivero
Democratic Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has been exploring opening taxpayer-funded, city-owned grocery stores in areas where businesses have already closed down due to rampant crime. The mayor is partnering with the Economic Security Project, an ideas advocacy organization that claims to build economic power for all Americans, to "brainstorm" the possibility of operating these local government-controlled groceries.

Antarctica sea ice is at a “mind-blowing” record low winter area of 17 million square kilometres, reports a three-person BBC “News Climate & Science and Data Journalism Team”, as lower levels than those recorded in the recent past provide the cue for yet more media climate hysteria. Of course, the BBC headline is clickbait nonsense, not least because it has been generally known in scientific circles that early NASA Nimbus satellites showed even lower winter levels around 15 million sq. kms in 1966. But the BBC story does provide an excellent example of how science is twisted to fit the political narrative supporting the collectivist Net Zero agenda.

A suspect was arrested on Monday in connection to the fatal shooting of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer over the weekend.
Kevin Salazar, 29, was detained in the morning following an hours-long standoff at the suspect’s residence in Palmdale, California, Sheriff Robert Luna announced in a press conference.
“We are extremely confident we have the right person in custody,” Luna said, adding that he did not believe there were any other suspects, though he noted that the investigation is ongoing ahead of an expected prosecution. A motive was not immediately known.
