To infinity and beyond?

A NASA spacecraft has beamed a near-infrared laser nearly 10 million miles into space breaking new ground for the agency.

The laser, which is encoded with test data, was fired from NASA’s Psyche spacecraft and then sent back to Hale Telescope at Caltech’s Palomar Observatory in San Diego County, California, the agency said. 

The test data was transmitted about 40 times farther than the distance between the moon and the earth, which NASA says is about 238,900 miles. The SpaceX Starship, for context, traveled around 93 miles into space last week.

INL is located in Idaho Falls, a community of about 67,000 residents in the eastern part of the state. It has more than 5,000 employees and works on researching nuclear reactors and sustainable energy projects for the federal government.

Local media initially did not name the suspected hackers, but a group calling itself SiegedSec eventually took responsibility, posting some of the purloined information on social media.

“We’re willing to make a deal with INL. If they research creating irl catgirls we will take down this post,” SiegedSec wrote in a message announcing the leak on Monday.

A catgirl is a type of character seen in some Japanese anime and manga, usually a human girl with cat ears, tail, or other characteristics. “IRL” stands for “in real life.” SiegedSec described itself as a group of gay “furry” hackers, referring to a fetish involving anthropomorphic animals.

Hundreds of people in rural Kentucky were asked to leave their homes on the eve of Thanksgiving after a train derailed, causing molten sulfur to catch fire and release dangerous fumes.

At least 16 of the 40 coaches on the train came off the rails near Livingston, home to 200 people, 60 miles south of Lexington.

The accident happened around 2:30pm, and Andy Beshear, the governor of Kentucky, declared a state of emergency.

Local officials are encouraging those in the town of Livingston to evacuate, he said.

'By issuing a state of emergency, we are ensuring that every state resource is available to help keep our families safe,' said Beshear.

The manifesto of Louisville bank shooter Connor Sturgeon, 25, has been released by authorities. It reveals that he planned to kill "rich white people" to teach them a lesson about lax gun policies.

Law enforcement uncovered a series of journal entries written by Sturgeon dating up to a week before the April 10 massacre at Old National Bank. Sturgeon, who previously worked at the bank, gunned down and killed four of his former colleagues, and one police officer, and injured nine others before being killed during a police shootout.

The first journal entry is dated April 3 which discusses Sturgeon, who had a history of suicidal ideation and mental health issues, viewing his life as meaningless and the need to make an impact or affect change. He lists off issues that had been impacting him such as inflation, climate disaster, gun access, lack of mental health care, and politicians with no interest in helping people, according to police documents.

The House Ethics Committee on Wednesday voted against opening an investigation into Democrat Rep. Jamaal Bowman for pulling the fire alarm.

There is no DOJ charge for “obstructing an official proceeding” for Bowman or investigation from House Ethics.

Bowman was only hit with one misdemeanor and he struck a deal with Democrat DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb to have the charges expunged.

But the House Ethics Committee will not investigate.  The committee is led by Republicans.

India is one of the last true friends of Israel.

Ostensibly, this is because of various economic deals they have, but the reality is that they have these deals because India feels close to Israel in that they are anti-Muslim, with the Pakistan situation and all that.

As economic indicators signal a slowdown and companies prepare to cut back amid diminishing business activity, the prospect of a similar raise to the previous year dims for many workers.
