The Girl Scouts of the USA is set to offer a four-part “racial equity” training series to volunteers and parents focusing on “internalized racism” and “white supremacy culture.”

 One of New Jersey’s main teachers unions is calling for the end of the basic skills test for certifying teachers.

The former Minneapolis police officer who was convicted in the 2020 police-involved death of George Floyd has filed an appeal of his conviction, citing new evidence that the jury never saw.

Police officer Derek Chauvin, who was convicted in 2021, filed papers in court on Monday, saying that the evidence proves that he did not commit murder in Floyd’s death, the Associated Press reported.

In his filing, the former cop said he would never have agreed to plead guilty if he had known about the theories of a Kansas pathologist who says that Floyd’s physical condition was the principal cause of death, not the actions of the police.

Chauvin is asking the judge to throw out his conviction and order a new trial, or at the very least open a new evidentiary hearing to look at the evidence.

Special counsel David Weiss has convened a grand jury in Los Angeles and issued a subpoena to first brother James Biden as part of his investigation into first son Hunter Biden.

The Delaware US attorney will seek to introduce documents and possibly witness testimony in an investigation now focused on the 53-year-old Hunter’s alleged failure to pay taxes on money he earned from overseas ventures, CNN reported Thursday. 

It is unclear for which tax years Weiss’ team may consider bringing new charges against Hunter — or whether the special counsel is investigating other alleged crimes committed by President Biden’s surviving son.  

In June, Hunter agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges of failing to pay at least $100,000 on more than $1.5 million in earned income in both 2017 and 2018. 

The plea deal, which also required Hunter to enter a diversion program on a felony federal weapons charge, fell apart in a Delaware courtroom July 26 and he was subsequently charged with felony counts of making false statements in purchasing a firearm, making false statements related to information required to be kept by a federally licensed firearms dealer, and unlawfully possessing a firearm while addicted to a controlled substance. 

BBC World Service’s investigation unit, BBC Eye, has revealed that nearly 20,000 Ukrainian men have used various routes to flee their country to avoid being drafted, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The BBC Eye investigation, Ukraine’s Draft Dodgers, talks to some of the men who have escaped the war, as they explain their unique situations, their choices, and what they have gone through to get out of Ukraine and claim asylum in its neighbouring countries. BBC Eye’s covert reporting identifies smugglers whose paid services are advertised on a messaging app.

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Ukrainian men aged 18-60 were banned from leaving the country unless they had an exemption. But BBC Eye has established – by requesting from Romania, Moldova, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia data on illegal border crossings – that 19,740 men illegally crossed Ukraine’s border into these neighbouring countries between February 2022 and 31 August 2023.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, out of the 21,113 individuals who were caught trying to escape the country, the majority – 14,313 – were attempting to walk or swim across the border, and the remaining 6,800 tried to use fraudulently obtained official paperwork stating exemptions.

TV jurist and real-life judge Joe Brown explained during a podcast this week why he’s no longer a Democrat, decrying its massive shift to the far left and the party’s embrace of policies and stances he believes are outrageous, offensive, and highly dangerous to children.

A grassroots activist concerned about election fraud worked for Maricopa County Elections Department in signature verification for five weeks prior to the 2020 election. After she was fired for what she said she believes was asking too many questions, she continued to look into anomalies, such as signatures accepted on mail-in ballot affidavits that did not match the voters’ signatures on their voter registrations. The volunteer activist canvassed some of the homes with mismatching signatures after the 2020 general election looking for votes to cure on behalf of Trump Victory, a project of the Trump Campaign.

The volunteer discovered that many of them — which were generally modest homes in heavily Democratic areas — had exactly 25 people registered to vote at each address.

Shelby Busch, co-founder of We the People AZ Alliance, which has worked uncovering evidence of wrongdoing in the 2020 and 2022 elections, told The Arizona Sun Times, “Unfortunately, these stories are not isolated occurrences. We received similar reports all across the state of Arizona.”

Scientists at the company aim to rebuild the woolly mammoth genome using samples from unearthed specimens, filling in the gaps with DNA from modern Asian elephants. 

They then have to coax woolly mammoth embryos into surrogate elephants and find tribal and governmental partners willing to let the company release - or 're-wild' - woolly mammoths onto their land.

Roughly seven months after screwing over California homeowners with a 75% reduction in rates paid for energy fed back to the grid, the golden state is also screwing over apartment owners, farms, and schools, Bloomberg reports.

In a unanimous vote on Thursday by the California Public Utilities Commission on Thursday, with a 5-0 vote, those who wish to install solar power on schools, apartment buildings, and farms will also receive less credits for exporting power to the grid. This adds to the challenges the solar industry faces, which has already struggled with high-interest rates and sliding demand.

Under the new rules, the aforementioned categories, as well as commercial strips and other facilities where more than one electric meter is on the same site, will receive less money from utilities in exchange for excess solar produced.

"This (new rule) forces them to sell low and buy high," Bernadette Del Chiaro, executive director of the California Solar & Storage Association, told local paper CalMatters, warning, "No one is going to go solar under that setup."

Two days ago, JPMorgan’s head of energy strategy Christyan Malek warned that amid the recent plunge in oil prices, driven as much by shorting CTAs (who today are in full-blown short squeeze panic mode) as the BIden admin, the oil market was underestimating the chances of deeper supply cuts during this month's Nov 26 OPEC+ meeting.

“The market’s probably assuming very little chance of that happening, I’d say it’s much higher than that – not as a base case but as a scenario” Malek told Bloomberg in an interview, adding that deeper curbs would be "in order to get ahead of potential weakness in the first half of next year."

“We may need to see” a cut “given where the balances are, particularly given the demand trending.” And while “there’s a view that Saudi is tapped out", Malek said that he doesn't believe that: "I think there’s more flex if they wish to cut. We could see them do sizable cuts from here; having said that, I think it’s more likely they’ll want to socialize them among their OPEC peers – a collective cut rather than one on their own.”

A very short while ago, any US politician or media pundit publicly calling for peace negotiations in Ukraine with Russia's Putin was branded 'pro-Kremlin' and somehow compromised. For example, mainstream media has sought to isolate and cancel thinkers like John Mearsheimer for his realism toward Moscow and the conflict, and urging immediate ceasefire which would require territorial concessions from Kiev. The Government Accountability Office's (GAO) report, released Thursday, revealed that the U.S. Department of Education's handling of the initiative lacked critical measures to ascertain whether the recipients’ incomes justified the debt forgiveness.

Spanning from January to September, the watchdog's report specifically noted that the "increased flow of federal funds" for relief programs due to the COVID-19 pandemic increased the risk of fraud. This, the report stated, underscored the "imperative for federal agencies to manage fraud risks strategically."

The watchdog's report highlighted concerns over the Biden administration's failure to verify incomes for millions of borrowers before granting relief.

The above unverified footage, said to show the aftermath of what appears a large attack on a US base in northern Iraq, is widely circulating online Friday. It shows a huge black plume of smoke rising high above the base, as it appears either an aircraft or vehicle suffered direct hit. 

"Iraq’s al-Harir airbase hosting US and international forces was targeted with an armed drone, Iraqi Kurdistan’s counter-terrorism service said in a statement on Friday," regional sources are reporting. Iranian state sources have posted the video.

Semi-official Iranian news source Mehr writes, "The video shows the moments when the Iraqi Islamic Resistance launched a drone attack on the American terrorists' base at Harir Airport located in Erbil province."

The White House has long warned it will escalate attacks on "Iranian proxies" if such attacks continue. There has so far been three waves of US airstrikes against Iran-linked targets in eastern Syria, but this supposed "deterrent" has not proven effective in stopping missiles and drones sent by regional militias.

Citigroup (C.N) employees expect announcements about management changes and layoffs on Monday in the next phase of the bank’s sweeping reorganization, according to four people familiar with the situation.

Employees are awaiting more details about the scale of layoffs at the bank, which employs 240,000 people worldwide.

Citigroup declined to comment. The Financial Times reported the news earlier.

Last month, Citi announced plans to cut management layers from 13 to eight as part of its biggest overhaul in decades. In the two top layers of leadership, Citi reduced 15% of functional roles and eliminated 60 committees, it said in its third quarter earnings presentation.

Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake alleges in a brief recently filed in an appeals court that Maricopa County violated state law by falsely stating voting machines were certified prior to the 2022 gubernatorial election. 

The brief filed Tuesday by attorneys for Lake, who ran a unsuccessful bid last year for Arizona governor, alleges county officials cut the seals on hundreds of voting tabulators, took out memory cards and reformatted them and made sure the tabulators rejected votes on Election Day.

House Republicans have begun releasing thousands of hours of footage from inside the Capitol from Jan. 6, 2021, when a mob of Trump supporters stormed the building.

“This decision will provide millions of Americans, criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media an ability to see for themselves what happened that day, rather than having to rely upon the interpretation of a small group of government officials,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said in announcing the website, where videos will be posted throughout the weekend.

According to Johnson, faces of private citizens will be blurred on any unreleased tapes and about 5 percent of the footage from the day will be redacted for building security concerns.

The Israeli army released footage on October 22 of its Maglan commando unit deploying a new precision-guided 120mm mortar bomb called the Iron Sting, against Hamas in Gaza.

The bomb’s Haifa-based manufacturer, Elbit Systems, has been advertising its qualities on the public relations page of its website since March 2021, when it was integrated into the Israeli military.

United States officials have increasingly suggested that the Palestinian Authority (PA) should rule over Gaza after Israel achieves its objective of eliminating Hamas, the group that currently controls the territory.

But analysts warn that the proposal may be unrealistic and premature, as the Israel-Hamas war nears the start of its seventh week.
