The insurgent right-wing party won 14 per cent of the votes but gained just five MPs, due to the even spread of its support. Meanwhile, the Conservatives won just 19 per cent but gained 121 seats under the first-past-the-post voting system. While Labour’s average votes per seat won was 23,600, Reform’s average was 820,745 per seat, the number-crunching shows. And Reform was second in 98 constituencies, meaning that if enough voters had switched from the winning party, it could have leapfrogged the Tories to become the official opposition based on Thursday’s results. In order to overtake the Conservatives, Reform would have needed 672,947 votes in the seats where they came second, The Telegraph calculated. It would have required just 336,474 people to switch from the winning party to Reform, less than 1 per cent of the total electorate, to make Mr Farage leader of the opposition.

A Labour cabinet minister has ruled out the introduction of digital ID cards after Tony Blair called for their use to help control migration. Business secretary Jonathan Reynolds initially said the government would be “looking at all sorts of things” and he did not want to pre-empt that work. But in an interview nearly two hours later he said: "I can rule out ID cards for you. That’s not something which is part of our plans."

After Joe Biden failed the 2024 CNN Presidential debate on the most basic cognitive level, his closest allies and donors finally began to show disappointment in their “champion of democracy.” That disappointment has spread among Democrat voters, with a third of the voting bloc now suggesting that Biden be replaced with a younger, more competent nominee.

Reporters were kicked out of a Biden campaign stop in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on Sunday where they were forced to film Biden through the storefront window of a coffees shop while Biden spoke–not with voters–but with fellow elected Democrat officials Governor Josh Shapiro and Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams. Unlike President Trump when he makes similar appearances, Biden was not mobbed by supporters at Denim Coffee (which may explain why the press was kicked out.)

Several sources, including family members and people who work in politics, say that First Lady Jill Biden is doing a lot to help President Joe Biden, her husband, stay in the race, even though worries are growing.

According to the New York Post, Jill Biden’s ex-husband Bill Stevenson said that she is “not the same person” he married in 1970 and that she kept her “struggling” current husband on the campaign road because “she wants to be president now.”

“The Dr. Jill Biden who I’ve seen on TV in the last five years is not the same person I married or that I recognize in any way. She’s matriculated into a completely different woman,” Stevenson told The Post.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker told America last week on a CNN interview that President Biden has “…done a lot to revive American manufacturing. In my state, you know, we’ve seen jobs and companies coming back to the United States and to Illinois.”

But the governor’s comment about Illinois is simply not true – not when you measure it by the number of Illinoisans who are actually employed. Fewer people are on Illinois’ employment rolls today than when Gov. Pritzker took office.*

Back then, in 2019, Illinois employed 6,273,060 workers, according to the BLS’ Local Area Unemployment Statistics Program. Based on the latest numbers, only 6,193,823 are employed today. That’s a loss of 80,000 working Illinoisans during the governor’s tenure.

It’s also the nation’s 3rd-worst performance over that 5-year span. Only California and New York suffered bigger losses in employment than Illinois did.

In contrast, many states’ employment rolls boomed over the same period. The number of Texans employed is up by over 1.3 million people since January 2019. Florida employment is up by over 900,000.

An examination of Harris’ time as vice president doesn’t yield the most promising results for what she could accomplish as commander-in-chief. While utterly failing to address the border crisis — where she was assigned to spearhead that effort — her ability to speak confidence into her role as a public servant is possibly worse.

Flashback to July 2021. In an interview with BET News for their special, “State of Our Union: Vice President Kamala Harris,” she was asked about voter ID laws.

Harris expressed disapproval with ID laws that may require a photocopy because rural Americans might not have access to a Kinkos or OfficeMax to do so.

Webmaster addition: I live in rural Indiana. I have an HP document machine that prints, scans, copies, and faxes.
