An inquiry conducted by the Israeli military says two Palestinian detainees, who were abducted from Gaza and transferred to the Sde Teiman detention facility in Israel, were subjected to physical assault and subsequently succumbed to their injuries.

The military disclosed that the fatalities occurred in March due to the physical assault of the two by Israeli soldiers following their abduction, the Israeli daily Haaretz reported on Tuesday.

The detainees were handcuffed and kidnapped from the Khan Yunis area in southern Gaza, and were en route to the Sde Teiman detention facility, dubbed "Israel's Guantánamo Bay". However, upon arrival, it was discovered that they had died.

The two Palestinians were illegally apprehended by the Israeli military on suspicion of their affiliation with the Palestinian resistance.

Alastair Crooke has done something I’ve never seen him do—update his most recent writings and conversations with a new column less than 48 hours later. His two previous writings and chat with Judge Napolitano are here and here. Today he wrote again at Al-Mayadeen,Walking the Precipice,” which I see Larry Johnson has mirrored at his website, too. It’s not just a reassessment, although it is in part. Rather, it’s a reassessment based on new information that’s just come to light as you’ll discover. IMO, if you were concerned at the end of Crooke’s chat with the Judge, you’ll be even more concerned now. And yes, this discovery has preempted what I had further planned to provide today and will become part of my afternoon work. Will Russia and/or China make any outward reaction to the new information?

Diverse European voices are desperately warning that with the Ukraine project spiralling towards débacle, a humiliated West is left with little choice but to escalate drastically, and bring NATO -- in some form, whether limited or not -- into the fight.

The former British (Conservative) MP Andrew Bridgen states that this strategic shift (whose speed caught the Europeans unawares), is forcing Europe to face war with Russia.

In fact, Bridgen warns: ‘We (Britain), are ‘already at war’ with Russia. This is the real reason, he explains, why Rishi Sunak has called an early election -- he refuses to be a ‘war time president’.  He is effectively handing over ‘the baton’ to Keir Starmer (probably to fly away to California after 4 July -- voting day). “The Generals” have warned Sunak that the order ‘had come down’ for war with Russia. And Sunak does not wish to be part of it.

Whether Bridgen is right or not on the specifics, there is undoubtedly a chorus out there saying the same thing. Is this cacophony of sudden war warnings merely that which (Matt Taibbi calls) an example of the ‘Elephant Erasure Project’?  By which we are constantly being instructed not to see the elephants in the room.

A volcano in southwestern Iceland has erupted for the fifth time this year. It is Sundhnukagigar’s most powerful eruption since the volcanic system became active three years ago.

The fiery spectacle began shortly after the end of an eight-week-long eruption that occurred between Hagafell and Stora-Skogfell on the same Reykjanes peninsula.

The lava fountains reached 50 metres (164 feet) high and the length of the fissure was about 3.4km (2.1 miles), the Icelandic Meteorological Office said in a statement.

Flights continued as usual at the capital Reykjavik’s Keflavik airport, according to the airport’s website.

Windows Recall is Microsoft's latest attempt to persuade users that they really need to upgrade their hardware to take advantage of local AI magic. It stores a snapshot of the user's screen every few seconds and permits the user to use natural language queries to hunt back through their timeline.

The controversy surrounding the feature, which has been described in some quarters as a "privacy nightmare," has threatened to overshadow the hardware launched at the same time. According to Microsoft's system requirements, the feature requires 16 GB RAM and a Copilot+ PC, replete with NPU hardware.

However, according to an inveterate Windows tinkerer, those hardware requirements might be more like guidelines for the time being. Posting on Mastodon, a user with the handle Albacore wrote that they had managed to make Recall work on a "Snapdragon 7c+ Gen3, 3.4 GB of RAM, no NPU in sight."

PayPal will use data from billions of customer transactions to supercharge its nascent ad business.

And it sounds as though it'll work like this: PayPal will provide ways for businesses to advertise online – on websites and in apps – and use the information PayPal knows about people – their transactions, purchasing histories, etc – to target them specifically.

Ticketmaster is believed to have had its IT breached by cybercriminals who claim to have stolen 1.3TB of data on 560 million of the corporation's customers – and are now selling all that info for $500,000.

On Wednesday, Australia's Department of Home Affairs told The Register that government, at least, is "aware of a cyber incident impacting Ticketmaster," and that the "National Office of Cyber Security is engaging with Ticketmaster to understand the incident."

The records allegedly swiped from Ticketmaster include customers' names, email addresses, phone numbers, and physical addresses, as well as order info and credit card details — specifically, the last four digits of the cards plus names and expiration dates.

Israel's military on Wednesday launched a fresh attack on targets deep inside Syria, which reportedly left civilian casualties, according to state media.

State sources identified that it was a neighborhood that was struck, while the anti-Assad opposition outlet Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the Israeli strikes targeted "at least one military site... in the eastern countryside of Homs, causing plumes of smoke to rise."

Syrian government sources said the Israeli strike killed a girl and wounded ten civilians.
