Academics have suggested that Apple's Wi-Fi Positioning System (WPS) can be abused to create a global privacy nightmare.

In a paper titled, "Surveilling the Masses with Wi-Fi-Based Positioning Systems," Erik Rye, a PhD student at the University of Maryland (UMD) in the US, and Dave Levin, associate professor at UMD, describe how the design of Apple's WPS facilitates mass surveillance, even of those not using Apple devices.

"This work identifies the potential for harm to befall owners of Wi-Fi APs (access points), particularly those among vulnerable and sensitive populations, that can be tracked using WPSes," the authors explain in their paper [PDF]. "The threat applies even to users that do not own devices for which the WPSes are designed – individuals who own no Apple products, for instance, can have their AP in Apple’s WPS merely by having Apple devices come within Wi-Fi transmission range."

In the nearly seven months he has been in office, President Milei has enacted major economic reforms and a downsizing of government.

Other recent “positive indicators” indicate the Milei administration are prioritizing defense relations with the United States over China, said Leland Lazarus, the associate director for national security at Florida International University’s Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy.

“The fact is that in just six months, he’s already visited the U.S. multiple times. He’s met with Secretary Blinken, he’s been to the White House … all that is like absolute music to General Richardson’s ears. To Biden’s ears,” Mr. Lazarus told The Epoch Times.

Ms. Richardson traveled to Argentina in April, on a visit that included the donation of a Hercules C-130H transport aircraft to the Argentinian Air Force and a tour of a naval facility in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, the extreme tip of the country.

“We are committed to working closely with Argentina so that our collaborative security efforts benefit our citizens, our countries and our hemisphere in lasting and positive ways,” Ms. Richardson said in a statement at the time.

In Ushuaia, Ms. Richardson met with local military personnel to discuss their role in “safeguarding shipping routes vital to global trade.”

In an Argentinian Ministry of Defense release, President Milei confirmed that Ms. Richardson also checked on the progress of an “integrated naval base” at the Ushuaia naval facility.

Argentine officials stated that they also discussed “legislative modernization in defense matters.”

Under the previous administration, China had been given preferential treatment.

In June 2023, Tierra del Fuego Gov. Gustavo Melella gave China the go-ahead to build a “multi-purpose” port facility near the Strait of Magellan.

The project was promptly met with legislative backlash as three national deputies and members of the Civic Coalition filed an official complaint against the governor’s provincial decree to build a port with Beijing. The same group further accused Mr. Melella of violating Argentina’s national security.

No public records show the project has since moved forward.

Shift in Relations

Mr. Lazarus said Argentina’s desire for deeper security cooperation with Western partners was also evident in April when Argentina’s Minister of Defense, Luis Petri, signed a historic purchase agreement for 24 F-16 fighter jets from Denmark.

Today we are completing the most important military aeronautical acquisition since 1983,” Mr. Petri said in an official press release.

“Thanks to this investment in defense, I can proudly say that we are beginning to recover our aerial sovereignty and that our entire society is better protected against all those threats that put us to the test.

President Joe Biden is at risk of not appearing on Ohio's ballot this November.

On Tuesday, Ohio Attorney General Frank LaRose (R) warned that Joe Biden is currently on track to miss the state's filing deadline to appear as a candidate.

Ohio requires that parties certify their presidential candidates at least 90 days before Election Day. The Democratic Party won't certify Biden until its national convention in Chicago, which is scheduled for Aug. 19, just 75 days before the election.

LaRose says Democrats have yet to offer a solution that fits with existing law.

A recent poll showed that independent candidates appear to be hurting President Joe Biden and boosting former President Donald Trump when on the ballot in four critical battleground states.

Trump's leads grow against Biden among likely voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan and North Carolina when Robert F. Kennedy Jr., independent Cornel West and Green Party candidate Jill Stein are on the ballot, according to The Cook Political Report/BSG/GS Strategy Group survey.

With Kennedy and the other third-party candidates included in the poll, Trump's margins grew from one to four points in Arizona; from two to three points in Michigan; from three to four points in Georgia and from seven to eight points in North Carolina.

A coalition of loyal Nikki Haley supporters quietly met with Biden campaign representatives on Wednesday night, just hours after the former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations declared her support for Donald Trump in the upcoming November election.

The Daily Beast has the latest on the underreported pilgrimage and what it means for both sides:

In the previously unreported meeting, a Biden campaign representative listened to the concerns of top Haley supporters from various states as part of Bidenworld's ongoing outreach to win over Haley voters.

“The fact they actually sent someone last night to speak to a small group … I think that's a good signal that they're aware there are huge numbers of Haley voters out there,” Robert Schwartz, founder of the Haley Voters For Biden PAC, told The Daily Beast. Schwartz said the meeting was highly encouraging, and likened it to other listening sessions the Biden campaign has done with the pro-Palestinian uncommitted vote.

The Biden campaign did not immediately return a request for comment on the meeting.

Hunter Biden is running short on both time and money when it comes to his looming federal trial for allegedly lying about his drug use when he purchased a revolver from a Delaware gun store in 2018. U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika has scheduled the trial to start on June 3rd, while POLITICO has reported that Biden's financial lifeline is tapped out and unable (or unwilling) to advance him any more money to pay for his legal bills.

For the moment, at least, Biden's legal team remains intact, and on Monday they launched a long-shot bid to delay his trial or have his charges thrown out altogether.

Haley says she will vote for Trump, calls Biden ‘a catastrophe.' In her speech, Nikki Haley came to the defense of Israel and criticized Biden's recent decision to pause certain heavy bombs from Israel amid its ongoing conflict in Gaza as a “foolish” decision.

She added that this decision is “dragging out a war, emboldening terrorists, and making other wars more likely.”

Haley also cast the disastrous Biden 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan as a catalyst for an emboldened Iran and Russia. However, the ex-UN ambassador said the former president “has not been perfect,” either.

When she announced over two months ago that she was ending her presidential bid, Haley declined to endorse Trump, saying he must work to “earn the votes of those in our party and beyond who did not support him.”

In yet another scandal involving the conservative Supreme Court judge, Democrats released a damning photograph of Justice Samuel Alito reading the Constitution.

After releasing the photo, Democrats argued that Justice Alito had clearly been radicalized and could not be trusted to make impartial rulings on the constitutionality of any case due to the fact that he had read the Constitution in the past.

"This is shameful behavior unbecoming of any Supreme Court judge," argued Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. "To think that we have had a dangerous extremist sitting on our highest court this whole time is terrifying. Can you believe it? A Supreme Court justice engaging in troubling activities like reading the U.S. Constitution, a well-known white supremacist document often cited by white supremacists? This scandal will shake our judicial branch to its core."

Tucker Carlson has come in for a lot of criticism in recent months, but he managed to hit the nail on the head about guns and gun rights at a recent event. A clip below shows Carlson saying he carries a gun “all the time.” His answer was succinct when asked if he was carrying at that moment. “Yes, always.”

So Carlson practices concealed carry on a regular basis. Bravo.

Then he continued, “I always have. Not simply for protection, but because it's a statement of autonomy. I am an adult man. I am not a slave. My job is to protect myself and my family. And that is a symbolic statement of that.”

Webmaster addition: Given how many people hate him, it is a wise precaution!

Lawyers and bankers are drawing up documents for a new international system that will be phased in starting this autumn and going into 2025. This work is necessary because, if the details are not worked out properly, huge problems will emerge as things snowball into massive world changes. This fine-tuning requires time. What needs to be made clear though is that this is not going to be a transfer of power from one secret group to another, The new system will be handed over to the people so that “the meek shall inherit the earth.”

In the meantime, the Satanic “rules-based world order” will continue to implode. This means were are going to experience a lot of turbulence as the last of the Satanists struggle desperately to keep control of the planet and avoid war crimes tribunals.

The latest sign of this was the murder of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions. Multiple Israeli accounts & other well-known accounts now report it was an assassination done by Israeli Mossad.

The B-21 Raider, the US Air Force's latest stealth bomber, was unveiled in December 2022 and is currently undergoing testing at Edwards Air Force Base in California. This cutting-edge aircraft is poised to gradually replace the B-1 and B-2 bombers in the second half of the decade, solidifying its position as the backbone of America's stealth bomber fleet.

On Wednesday, the USAF released new stunning images of the B-21.

Since the stealth bomber debuted, there has only been a handful of images released and or taken by the public:

The B-21 is USAF's first strategic bomber in over three decades and is expected to enter service in the mid-2020s with a production goal of 100 aircraft.

America is gearing up for conflict as the world fractures into a multipolar state.

One passenger died and dozens were injured when an SIA flight heading to Singapore from London’s Heathrow Airport encountered severe turbulence.

In a Facebook post on May 21, Singapore Airlines (SIA) said the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft experienced “sudden extreme turbulence” over the Irrawaddy Basin about 10 hours after departing from London.

The pilot declared a medical emergency and landed at Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport at 3.45pm (4.45pm Singapore time).

The airline said 18 passengers have been hospitalised, with another 12 receiving treatment for their injuries in hospitals. The remaining passengers and crew were examined and treated at the airport, it added.

Webmaster addition: Given the track record of the Boeing (or should that be Boing) 777, it may not have been turbulence.

Authored by James Gorrie via The Epoch Times,

The cybersecurity wars between communist China and the West are raging, yet few people realize what’s really going on. That’s now changing.

The Chinese regime’s ability to launch successful cyberattacks against American and British defenses is higher than it has ever been. New attack tactics, techniques, and protocols (TTPs) developed by the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) cyber division are threatening the integrity and functionality of Western nations’ military communications, operations, and other critical systems.

(L to R) MP Tim Loughton, Sir Iain Duncan Smith, and MP Stewart McDonald during a press conference at the Centre for Social Justice in central London on March 25, 2024. The Chinese regime is believed to have targeted a group of senior MPs and peers with a fresh series of cyberattacks aimed at undermining UK democracy. (Jordan Pettitt/PA Wire)

That may be why the United States and the UK are now publicly speaking about these critical threats, warning the Chinese and other national threat actors with which they coordinate to cease these provocative attacks. To that point, American, British, and European officials have warned that the Chinese regime’s cyberattacks are both coercive and destabilizing. As an indication of just how serious those threats are, the UK summoned the Chinese ambassador as a formal response to the regime’s increasing cyber threats to the UK.

UK: Defending Against China’s Cyberattacks Is ‘Top Priority’

To underscore their concern, Anne Keast-Butler, director of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), the UK’s top-tier surveillance agency, said at a security conference in England’s city of Birmingham that responding to China’s cyber activities was “a top priority” for GCHQ. This isn’t the first time the UK government has had to confront Beijing about its illegal and threatening activities in cyberspace, but of late, it’s become a much bigger problem.

Since 2010, the majority of China’s cross-border payments, like those of many countries, had been settled in U.S. dollars (USD). As of the first quarter of 2023, that’s no longer the case.

As Visual Capitalist's Julian Wendling shows in the grrahic below, from the Hinrich Foundation, the Chinese renminbi (RMB) is growing in popularity in payments both domestically and globally.

The De-Dollarization of China’s Cross-Border Transactions

This analysis uses Bloomberg data on the share of China’s payments and receipts in RMB, USD, and other currencies from 2010 to 2024.

In the first few months of 2010, settlements in local currency accounted for less than 1.0% of China’s cross-border payments, compared to approximately 83.0% in USD.

China has since closed that gap. In March 2023, the share of the RMB in China’s settlements surpassed the USD for the first time.

Since then, the de-dollarization in Chinese international settlements has continued.

As of March 2024, over half (52.9%) of Chinese payments were settled in RMB while 42.8% were settled in USD. This is double the share from five years previous. According to Goldman Sachs, foreigners’ increased willingness to trade assets denominated in RMB significantly contributed to de-dollarization in favor of China’s currency. Also, early last year, Brazil and Argentina announced that they would begin allowing trade settlements in RMB.

Most Popular Currencies in Foreign Exchange (FX) Transactions

Globally, analysis from the Bank for International Settlements reveals that, in 2022, the USD remained the most-used currency for FX settlements. The euro and the Japanese yen came in second and third, respectively.

The Chinese renminbi, though accounting for a relatively small share of FX transactions, gained the most ground over the last decade. Meanwhile, the euro and the yen saw decreases in use.

The Future of De-Dollarization

If the RMB’s global rise continues, the stranglehold of the USD on international trade could diminish over time.

The impacts of declining dollar dominance are complex and uncertain, but they could range from the underperformance of U.S. financial assets to diminished power of Western sanctions.

However, though the prevalence of RMB in international payments could rise, a complete de-dollarization of the world economy in the near- or medium-term is unlikely. China’s strict capital controls that limit the availability of RMB outside the country, and the nation’s sputtering economic growth, are key reasons contributing to this.

Israeli forces have launched fresh massacres in separate regions in the blockaded Gaza Strip, killing at least 62 Palestinians in a single day.

According to medical sources, at least 138 others were also injured who were taken to hospital.

They said the figure is the number of Palestinian fatalities and casualties who were rushed to hospitals, adding that hundreds of victims still lie under the rubble and in the streets, while rescue and civil defense teams remain unable to reach them.

Among the fatalities were at least six Palestinians who were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential house in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. Six others were also wounded and taken to hospital.

Israeli forces also shot dead a mother and her daughter as they were fleeing Gaza's Sabra neighborhood in the center of the Gaza Strip.

More than a dozen students have been arrested at Oxford University after British police cracked down a pro-Palestine protest.

A group of students, members of Oxford Action for Palestine, launched a peaceful sit-in on Thursday morning in the Wellington Square office building to demand the administration to agree for negotiation.

However, the group said that instead of engaging in a dialogue with them, the university placed the building under lockdown and called the police.

"When informed of the threat of arrest, the students willingly stood up and voluntarily offered to vacate the premises," it said in a statement

"In an escalatory move, all students were arrested and their phones were confiscated, taking away their ability to record or film from inside."

Iran has put on display 162 Achaemenid-era clay tablets that were repatriated from the US last year following a judicial saga.

The tablets, inscribed in Elamite and Aramaic languages, were showcased during a ceremony at the National Museum of Iran on Saturday, on the occasion of International Museum Day.

They are among the 3,506 clay tablets that were brought back home by Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi after he attended the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2023.

Speaking during Saturday’s ceremony, Director of the National Museum of Iran Jebrael Nokandeh said the artifacts, which date back to the reign of Darius the Great (522-486 BC), provide "valuable information about administrative and social structures” of the Achaemenid Empire.

Lebanon's Hezbollah and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq have conducted separate operations against Israeli military positions in the 1948 occupied territories in support of Palestinians amid the genocidal war on Gaza.

Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television reported that Hezbollah fighters launched a volley of shells at three buildings housing Israeli troops in the Even Menachem moshav in the Western Galilee and the projectiles struck the designated targets precisely.

The Lebanese resistance group also targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the occupied territories, opposite the southern Lebanese village of Yaroun, with several missiles.

A leading British think-tank has defended its decision to invite a far-right Ukrainian party founder to speak at an event in London this week. Ukrainian politician Andriy Parubiy, who set up a political party that attracted neo-Nazi sympathisers, was set to attend a public briefing at the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi) this Friday. He was set to discuss Ukraine’s attempts to counter separatist and Russian attacks.

Mr Parubiy sparked controversy after he co-founded the far-right Socio-National Party of Ukraine in 1991, which was later renamed Svoboda. The party, which described itself as an “enemy of communism”, was modelled on Hitler’s fascist ideology and restricted membership to ethnic Ukrainians.

Mr Parubiy went onto head up the National Security and Defence Council. He is currently the First Deputy Speaker at the Ukrainian parliament.
