Torrential rains across the United Arab Emirates prompted flight cancellations, forced schools to shut and brought traffic to a standstill.

The floods came after one of the worst storms in decades. The government had seeded clouds in the preceding days, though meteorologists said it was unlikely that had a significant impact on the rainfall. The UAE has been carrying out seeding operations since 2002 to address water security issues, even though the lack of drainage in many areas can trigger flooding.

This incredible facial hair not only won people's hearts but also secured his place in history as he held the record for the longest beard ever grown in France.

Legend has it that Lewis had been shaving since he was 12, but his razor blades could not keep up with his rapidly growing beard.

By the time he was 14, his beard had reached 50 centimeters (19.6 in) in length. From then on, it was just a matter of letting it grow to monstrous proportions.

His impressive beard made him a popular photographic model from the late 19th to the early 20th century.

During this time, dozens of different editions of postcards featuring him were published, immortalizing his unique appearance for future generations.

This unique photo collection includes a stunning array of vintage cameras, some of which were ingeniously hidden in everyday objects.

From a camera hidden in a matchbox to a camera disguised as a pocket watch for covert operations, these devices showcase simple old-fashioned designs, some dating back to the 1880s.

Some of these special cameras were made to look like books, cigarette packets, binoculars, radio players, and even a handgun.

One of the more interesting pieces is the Cigarette Camera, which was designed after World War II but never mass-produced.

Another fascinating discovery is the Lucky Strike spy camera, developed by Mast Development Corp. for the US Signal Corps between 1949 and 1950.

This camera was designed to fit inside the outer wrapper of a Lucky Strike cigarette packet.

Despite its small size, it was capable of taking 18 shots at 16 mm with different shutter speeds. However, it never came into widespread use and remained an obscure part of history.

As the United States expanded westward in the early 1800s, the trade in American bison fur, skin, and meat began to flourish across the Great Plains. By the 1860s, these iconic animals had roamed the plains for millennia, their herds numbering in the millions, a sight so awe-inspiring that it was dubbed "the thunder of the plains." For generations, they have been the lifeblood of Native American tribes, providing not only food and clothing but also shelter and spiritual significance. But the scenario began to change after the Civil War. The continued progress of the railroads brought with it a wave of new cities, bustling trains, and interconnected telegraph lines, ushering in an era of rapid change. This change spelled trouble for the bison, as European settlers, motivated by profit, destroyed the once abundant herds. By the 1880s, their numbers had dropped from nearly 30 million to just 325, a catastrophic decline.
