Fuel tanker runs aground in Northwest Passage

A fuel tanker carrying nine million litres of diesel fuel has run aground in the Northwest Passage, the Canadian Coast Guard confirmed Thursday.

The tanker, which is owned by Woodward's Oil Ltd., ran aground on a sandbar Wednesday southwest of the western Nunavut community of Gjoa Haven.
