Oregon babysitter accused of beating toddler avoids charges

The idiot who did this confessed but in Oregon he can't be prosecuted because the baby can't talk yet. This SUCKS!

A babysitter accused of bruising a battered baby won’t face any charges — because the infant can’t speak up.

Even though Joshua Marbury’s 1-year-old son was covered in bruises and scars from the babysitter’s alleged beating, the accused abuser is protected by a 2012 Oregon Court of Appeals ruling that discourages prosecutors from filing charges since the tyke can’t talk.

Marbury was furious as the charges were dropped, after baby Jacob had suffered a severe smack that left a black eye, bruises and a stinging palm print on the child’s face.

Solitary Confinement Is Used To Break People — I Know Because I Endured It

Solitary confinement. Administrative segregation. Administrative detention. Restrictive housing. Temporary confinement. Protective custody. Appropriate placement. There are many names for solitary confinement. In the Illinois prisons where I was incarcerated, it was called “segregation,” but most of the women called it “seg” or “jail.” No matter the language, it is all solitary — and it is torture.

Pakistan summons US envoy over drone strike that ‘violated sovereignty’

Pakistan summoned US ambassador David Hale on Monday to express concern over the drone strike by American forces in Pakistani territory to kill Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour, which it said was a “violation of its sovereignty”.

According to a statement by the Foreign Office, special assistant to Prime Minister on foreign affairs Tariq Fatemi pointed out to the US envoy that the drone strike was a “violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and a breach of the UN’s Charter that guarantees the inviolability of the territorial integrity of its member states”.

Fatemi also emphasised that “such actions could adversely impact the ongoing efforts by the Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) for facilitating peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban”.

U.S. Holds the World Record of Killings of Innocent Civilians

A world-renowned Canadian philosopher argues that the United States holds the world record of illegal killings of unarmed civilians and extrajudicial detention and torturing of prisoners who are detained without trial.

Prof. John McMurtry says that the U.S. government is a gigantic mass-murdering machine which earns profit through waging wars, and is never held accountable over its unspeakable war crimes and crimes against humanity. He also believes that the U.S. has become a police state, which treats its citizens in the most derogatory manner.

Hey Kids! Try Collateral Damage at Home

The new collateral damage laws we've been living under for the past year have really been working out great, as far as I'm concerned. We don't let it get out of hand, though. Only property damage is excusable using bullshit medieval arguments about what we "really intended" and what we "merely knew was going to happen." Damage or death to people or animals is not included in the law.

I've heard tell, though, that there is another world somewhere in which, believe it or not, the exact opposite is true. In that world, if I were to damage someone's property and pull out a load of horse manure about "just intentions" or "proportional collateral damage," I'd be punished for the destruction I'd caused and possibly locked up for my delusional state of mind.

Extrajudicially Held Guantanamo Detainee to be Released

By Stephen Lendman

Guantanamo remains a black hole of US extrajudicial viciousness, hundreds of innocent men and boys (all Muslims, most sold for bounty) held lawlessly since January 2002 – denied due process and judicial fairness.

Obama’s pledge to close the prison camp before end of 2009 was willful deception. An executive order alone is needed, not congressional authorization as he maintains.

Today, 80 men remain indefinitely detained, most uncharged and untried – perhaps all innocent victims. Nine perished in captivity, murdered in cold blood. Over two dozen recommended for release remain imprisoned...

Webcast starts @ 10am EST today May 21: The Fabricated Global War on Terrorism, part of a series on the Deep State

Saturday, May 21st, 7:00-8:50 am PST * 10:00-11:50 am EST * 14:00-15:50 GMT
The Fabricated Global War on Terrorism
Speakers: Jim Fetzer, Michael Springmann, Gearóid Ó Colmáin

Following 9/11, right-wing neo-cons had carte blanche to wage a planned, calculated war on “terrorists” under the guise of protecting Americans from Islamic jihadis. This manufactured worldwide assault helped ensure perpetual war and a heightened security state in the US. When al Queda was no longer threatening enough, out of thin air comes ISIS, a newly-branded, revamped incarnation.

The yellow-journalism press rarely reports that ISIS was 100% planned, created and controlled by US/NATO/Israel/Turkey/Saudi forces. Publicly this newest bogeyman is reviled and used to whip up fear and bellicosity. Behind the scenes, ISIS is our shock troops, the go-to mercenaries to effect regime change in places like Libya and Syria, and ensure wavering countries like France tow the line.

BREAKTHROUGH! 9/11 truth sneaks past gatekeepers into Left Forum (May 21-22 Weekend)

Entire "Deep State" track to be simulcast and archived by NoLiesRadio.org

In a major breakthrough for the 9/11 truth movement, the biggest annual left-wing event in America has suddenly opened its doors to leading critics of the Official Conspiracy Theory (OCT) and other researchers into crimes of the Deep State.

I will give three presentations, beginning Saturday at noon Eastern with “Why Chomsky is Wrong About 9/11.”

Going to the Left Forum to criticize Chomsky is sort of like going to the Vatican to criticize the Pope. But the doctrine of Papal Infallibility does not apply to Chomsky, despite what some of his admirers seem to think. So I do not expect to be met by the left-wing version of the Spanish Inquisition. (Then again, NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition!)

Historical Amnesia And The Destruction Of The Senate Torture Report

Torture, War, Assassinations are Part of the “New Normal”: Bush-Obama Powers Will Pass to Next President

Remember when coups and assassinations were secretive, when presidents were obliged to go to Congress and tell lies and ask permission for wars, when torture, spying, and lawless imprisonment were illicit, when re-writing laws with signing statements and shutting down legal cases by yelling “state secrets!” was abusive, and when the idea of a president going through a list of men, women, and children on Tuesdays to pick whom to have murdered would have been deemed an outrage?

Webmaster's Commentary:

If this country's leadership ever had what could be characterised as a "moral center", it has been assassinated, courtesy of the last two administrations.

The only thing this country's leadership has, at the moment, is a "financial center", where wars are fought, not because of the US government being "on the right side of history", but how accessing resources around the world, to which American corporations have no moral right, justifies any wars this country's leadership might undertake.

It is a policy fraught with extraordinary hubris, and will ultimately bring the same result upon the US government as it did the Greek heroes of old; absolute, unmitigated disaster for this country.

The Ugly Consequences of the U.S. Military Having Immunity to Commit War Crimes in Afghanistan

Consistent with a longstanding pattern, the U.S. military, in lieu of accountability, is now doling out “condolence” payments of $6,000 to the families of those killed and $3,000 to the people wounded. But what is so remarkable about this latest case is that the U.S. military is dodging real consequences for a bloodbath it now admits to perpetrating (after originally changing its story at least four times, including an initial denial of culpability). What’s more, the Pentagon appears to be getting away with it, even though MSF has a high media profile, thanks to its prominent role as a western NGO. In November, MSF received considerable coverage for its harrowing report on the carnage inflicted by the U.S. military. “Patients burned in their beds, medical staff were decapitated and lost limbs, and others were shot by the circling AC-130 gunship while fleeing the burning building,” the medical charity documented.

American Public Is Not Entitled To See Full Senate Torture Report, Court Rules

An appeals court ruled on Friday that more than 6,000 pages of the so-called Senate torture report cannot be made public because they consist of congressional records that are not subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act, which only covers federal agencies.

Turkey Bombs Kurdish City Using Banned Phosphorous Munitions

The Turkish army used munitions containing phosphorus against the Kurdish-inhabited city of Nusaybin in the country’s south, a Kurdish source told Sputnik on Sunday.

"The Turkish army shelled a district of the Nusaybin city in southern Turkey using munitions which are likely to contain the banned substance of phosphorus," the source said.

Nusaybin is located in the Mardin province, where two Turkish servicemen were killed during a raid against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), outlawed in the country, earlier in the day.

White phosphorus munitions are used in smoke and incendiary munitions. White phosphorus is not specifically banned, but the 1983 UN Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons bans the use of incendiary weapons in indiscriminate attacks against civilians.

How Obama’s Lawyers “Legalized” the War on Terror

The legal architecture of Obama’s version of the “war on terror” is as resistant to adjudication as was Bush’s more ramshackle structure. How does a defendant prepare a defense when he is denied accusatory evidence on the grounds that it entails ‘state secrets?’ How does a defendant in a non-terrorist case protect himself from the prosecution’s exploitation of evidence obtained without a court warrant when its source is kept secret because it was the fall-out from a national security surveillance case? How does a plaintiff gain standing to bring suit when the courts agree with the Executive’s assertion that the individual in question must demonstrate having suffered personal damage? How does some American citizen on Obama’s ‘kill list’ appeal for redress when required to make a personal appearance in a United States court — transit to which might make him vulnerable to murder by American authorities.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The conclusion here is glaringly, and painfully, obvious; President Obama is just as much a criminal warmonger as was his predecessor, and no less accountable to the warlords of the military/industrial complex, to keep the madness of perpetual wars going.

Kennedy intended to pull the US out of Vietnam once he was reelected. He intended to break up the CIA “into one thousand pieces” and curtail the military-security complex that was exploiting the US budget... And that is why he was murdered. The evil that resides in Washington does not only kill foreign leaders who try to do the right thing, but also its own.

FLASHBACK - The role of the west in the Rwandan Genocide

In 1993 a peace-keeping mission in Somalia went horribly wrong. Many people were killed or injured. Wounded US soldiers were surrounded by jeering armed mobs.

This happened two days before the UN security council was due to decide whether or not to send peace-keepers to Rwanda. With the support of Russia and the UK, America insisted on only a small, cheap peace-keeping effort. It would be limited to Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali, and there would be no seizing of weapons - only observing.

For Rwandans, the timing could not have been worse…

FLASHBACK - The Armenian Genocide: 90 Years Later Turkey Continues to Deny the Extermination of a People

This week marks the 90th anniversary of the Armenian genocide when more than a million Armenians were exterminated by the Young Turk government through direct killing, starvation, torture, and forced death marches. Another million fled into permanent exile. Almost a century later, Turkey continues to deny the genocide. We speak with Colgate University professor Peter Balakian, author of "The Burning Tigris: The Armenian Genocide and America’s Response" and Zanku Armenian of the Armenian National Committee of America. 80 Countries Just Slammed the US Over Habit of Bombing Hospitals

By Claire Bernish

Saudi Arabia, the United States, and their allies have developed a nasty habit of “epidemic” proportions in various military theaters, particularly around the Middle East — bombing hospitals, healthcare facilities, and, in at least one instance, an ambulance. But despite countless pleas from humanitarian organization Médicins Sans Frontières (MSF, Doctors Without Borders), that bombing continues, so the United Nations was finally forced to issue its own resolution on the matter.

Resolution 2286, co-sponsored by 80 member nations, condemns attacks on medical personnel and facilities in conflict situations and demands “an end to impunity for those responsible and respect for international law on the part of all warring parties.”

Though it might seem superficially absurd to issue a condemnation for something so patently fundamental, evidence of its necessity remains unfortunately prevalent in headlines...

The Case Against Hillary Clinton

A proven catastrophe is far worse than a merely possible catastrophe; so, if Hillary Clinton turns out to be the Democratic nominee, I shall vote for Donald Trump, and then just hope that the worst things that he had said regarding public policy were lies, and that the best things that he had said regarding public policy reflected his actual beliefs.

Hillary offers not only her lies but something real (a record that’s highly relevant to the office she’s seeking) — and it’s repulsive. Trump, by contrast, offers no relevant track-record at all on public-policy matters. That’s not a virtue on his part, it’s a lack of the worst possible vice (a vile record of actual policies while in public office), for a potential U.S. President.

Given a choice between a proven psychopath, versus merely a possible (or even a likely) psychopath, I’ll definitely opt for the latter. It’s the only intelligent thing to do. Anything else would be suckerdom.

IS NATO’S ISLAMIC ANCHOR HEADED FOR A COUP?

Turkey’s increasingly dictatorial president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, scored yet another domestic victory Thursday, with the resignation of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, his former ally who nominally holds the reins of the country.

Erdogan is now free to push for a change in the constitution that would transfer more power to himself. But this act also highlights his growing political isolation, which many believe will spell the end his career — an outcome of great concern to the US and its European allies.

Western leaders desperately need Turkey to remain stable. As a key NATO ally in a volatile region — NATO’s second-largest army, in fact — and the country that is supposed to protect Europe from another flood of refugees, a lot is riding on Turkey’s stability. But the oppressed half of the country does not share the same sentiments, and talk of a possible coup against Erdogan is growing louder.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The big question is, how does the country's military feel about the country being turned into an absolute dictatorship, under Edrogan's watch?!?

I think that this is the most critical factor to the future of political movements in Turkey.

Federal Judge Rules Lawsuit Against Torture Program Psychologists Can Proceed

By Derrick Broze

A federal judge has ruled that two psychologists formerly contracted with the CIA can be sued for their role in designing and implementing the torture program.

In late April, Senior Judge Justin Quackenbush ruled against two Central Intelligence Agency contract psychologists, James Mitchell and John Bruce Jessen, as they attempted to dismiss a case brought against them on behalf of three victims of the torture program they helped created. Both men are former U.S. military psychologists who are seen as the “architects” of the CIA’s torture program...

America’s Legacy Will Be Its Downfall: Empire Always Comes Home

Op-Ed by Brandon Turbeville

As Western media outlets and the U.S. State Department attempt to gin up public sentiment surrounding alleged bombings of alleged hospitals that may or may not have even existed and that, even if they did, were nothing more than field hospitals for terrorists, the Syrian people are suffering under unimaginable conditions. These true victims, of course, are completely ignored by the same outlets that cry and pine over the deaths and setbacks of jihadists, rapists, torturers, and murderers.

Amidst the constant propaganda and dehumanizing method of reporting “news” in the West, both the humanity and the wishes of the Syrian people are lost completely...

A Tale Of Two Hospitals: Potentially Fabricated Bombing Incident VS Open Terrorist Targeting Of Facilities In Aleppo

According to Western governments and their media mouthpieces, Assad’s forces have targeted civilian hospitals in order to . . . well . . . no one knows why Assad’s forces would logically target civilian hospitals. Still, the Western harpies – both media and “human rights NGOs” – continue to hammer the unsubstantiated claims and misinformation at the tops of their lungs that the SAA is dropping bombs on civilian medical facilities...

4,609 Killed in Iraq During April

The United Nations issued its casualty report for April. The organization found that 741 Iraqis were killed and 1,374 were wounded last month. Of those fatalities, 410 belonged to civilians, while 331 of the dead were security personnel. Another 973 civilians and 401 security personnel were wounded. The U.N. does not tally casualties in Anbar due to the security situation; however, the Health Directorate in Anbar reported 27 civilians killed and 225 injured. These figures should be considered very conservative. The actual numbers of killed and injured are likely to be much higher.

Seymour Hersh Says Hillary Approved Sending Libya’s Sarin to Syrian Rebels

The great investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, in two previous articles in the London Review of Books («Whose Sarin?» and «The Red Line and the Rat Line») has reported that the Obama Administration falsely blamed the government of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad for the sarin gas attack that Obama was trying to use as an excuse to invade Syria; and Hersh pointed to a report from British intelligence saying that the sarin that was used didn’t come from Assad’s stockpiles. Hersh also said that a secret agreement in 2012 was reached between the Obama Administration and the leaders of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, to set up a sarin gas attack and blame it on Assad so that the US could invade and overthrow Assad. «By the terms of the agreement, funding came from Turkey, as well as Saudi Arabia and Qatar; the CIA, with the support of MI6, was responsible for getting arms from Gaddafi’s arsenals into Syria».

Webmaster's Commentary:

If, in fact, these charges are true, is this REALLY "the woman" you want to have in the White House as President?!?

The woman for whom money and power mean....EVERYTHING, and she will do or say ANYTHING to hang on to it if elected, no matter how badly it effected the American people?!?

The woman who has proven that she will do ANYTHING to "regime change" governments not to the US government's liking?!?

Please remember, if she is on the Democratic ticket in November, and steals the election, or gets voted in, she is a warmonger of the highest order, and has never seen a US military intervention she did not like.

Oh yes, and bet on this: the return of the military draft, for both young men and women.

I remember, in those days right after the false flag sarin attack in Syria, how intensely Obama and Kerry were arguing that the US military had no choice but to invade Syria, and regime-change the country.

And the man who became Syria's international saviour, Russia's Vladimir Putin, was, fortunately, able to talk some sense into the American government, and the US government blinked.

The wars which the US has started, and are festering and simmering, globally, like a bad, contagious infection, will continue apace under a second Clinton presidency; that's just the cold hard reality.

Exhibit One in Any Future American War Crimes Trial

These acts, in other words, are considered beyond the pale when Donald Trump suggests them, but here’s the strangeness of it all: what The Donald is only mouthing off about, a perfectly real American president (and vice president and secretary of defense, and so on) actually did. Among other things, under the euphemistic term “enhanced interrogation techniques,” they ordered the CIA to use classic torture practices including waterboarding (which, in blunter times, had been known as “the water torture”). They also let the U.S. military loose to torture and abuse prisoners in their custody. They green-lighted the CIA to kidnap terror suspects (who sometimes turned out to be perfectly innocent people) off the streets of cities around the world, as well as from the backlands of the planet, and transported them to the prisons of some of the worst torture regimes or to secret detention centers (“black sites”) the CIA was allowed to set up in compliant countries.

What it's like to be a 12-year-old Palestinian girl in Israeli jail

A day after her release, D. is already weary of the receptions and interviews, and of being the heroine of the hour. She replies to questions with the demonstrative reluctance of an adolescent whose parents are driving her nuts with their tiresome nagging. Her expression is one of weariness and revulsion, possibly tinged with sadness. Her face lights up for a second, however, when we ask whether she was happy to be released. No, she wasn’t happy, she tells us. She misses S.P., a boy from Kafr Aqab, a Palestinian suburb of Jerusalem. She saw him very briefly in the posta (slang for prisoners van) on one of her trips to court, and hasn’t stopped thinking about him since. Here are photos of him on Facebook. A small boy of 12, head shaven, handcuffed, in a military court. And here’s another image of him, from before he was arrested: a studio portrait in which he’s wearing a black shirt and red tie.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The jailing of children, then having them sentenced to prison terms, is "Business as usual" for Israeli police and judges.

But whether this little girl was actually carrying scissors when she was arrested is not the point.

She was allegedly asked if she planned to do harm to Israelis, and she was said to have confessed to her intent.

But I have to wonder if she was actually questioned in Arabic, which she understands, or Hebrew, which she does not understand, thought that such a confession would keep her out of jail.

But the point of incarcerating Palestinian children is to attempt to completely break their spirits, and teach them learned helplessness at the hands of the Israeli occupation; that is the real, and only, point of such incarceration.

Psychologist Whose Lawyers Say He Didn’t Design CIA Torture Program Wrote A Book Bragging That He Did

U.S. Military Investigates And Finds Itself Not Guilty Of War Crimes In Afghan Hospital Bombing

The Pentagon said on Friday that its attack on a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan, last October was not a war crime because the attack was not intentional. The military released a redacted 3,000-page internal investigation into the deadly bombing, which destroyed the only free trauma center of its kind in the country’s northern region and killed 42 patients, staffers and caretakers.

“The label ‘war crimes’ is typically reserved for intentional acts,” Gen. Joseph Votel, commander of U.S. Central Command, said on Friday. “The investigation found that the tragic incident resulted from a combination of unintentional human errors and equipment failures, and that none of the personnel knew that they were striking a medical facility.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is how completely morally bankrupt the US military has become, in its defense of the indefensible; and for Votel to state that military personnel didn't know they were repeatedly shelling a hospital, and blame this on botched technology coupled with battle fatigue, is a lousy excuse.

So why, really, did the US military shoot up this hospital, and assassinate both patients and medical professionals?!

Well, here's the deal, as reported in November of 2015, surprisingly, by CNN:

Last month's U.S. airstrike on a Doctors Without Borders medical compound in Afghanistan appeared precisely focused on the main hospital building, the charity said in its internal review of the strike released Thursday, noting that the building's GPS coordinates had been provided earlier to the military. The Taliban took Kunduz, Afghanistan's fifth-largest city, in late September, resulting in fierce fighting with Afghan forces. Did U.S. know airstrike target was a hospital? Did U.S. know airstrike target was a hospital? 02:05 As the fighting intensified, Doctors Without Borders said it reaffirmed the GPS coordinates of the main hospital and administration office building at its Kunduz center with the U.S. Defense Department, Afghan Interior and Defense ministries and the U.S. Army in Kabul in a September 29 email. "Confirmation of receipt was received from both U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Army representatives, both of whom assured us that the coordinates had been passed on to the appropriate parties. "Oral confirmation was received from the Afghan Ministry of Interior. MSF also shared the GPS coordinates with a U.N. intermediary who confirmed transmission directly to Operation Resolute Support," the charity said in its review. High-ranking Taliban at hospital? In the week leading up to the strike, Doctors Without Borders said, patients had shifted primarily from being with the Afghan government and police to injured Taliban combatants, and on September 30 around 65 of about 130 patients in the hospital were Taliban. These included two patients who appeared to be of higher rank. "This was assumed for multiple reasons: being brought in to the hospital by several combatants, and regular inquiries about their medical condition in order to accelerate treatment for rapid discharge," the charity said. The following day, a U.S. official in Washington asked the organization whether the Kunduz hospital or any other its locations had a large number of Taliban "holed up," the report said. The hospital confirmed the hospital was full of patients who included wounded Taliban. "MSF also expressed that we were very clear with both sides to the conflict about the need to respect medical structures as a condition to our ability to continue working. A U.N. civilian/military liaison advised MSF to remain within the GPS coordinates provided to all parties to the conflict as 'bombing is ongoing in Kunduz,' " the report said. Calm, quiet night Doctors With Borders staff confirmed it was quiet and calm at the Kunduz hospital the night of the airstrike. "No fighting was taking place around the hospital, no planes were heard overhead, no gunshots were reported, nor explosions in the vicinity of the hospital," the review said. The charity said the gates were shut and a coordinator conducting a nightly security round reported that the center "was calm, with no armed combatants present, nor any fighting on the hospital grounds or within the audible vicinity. All MSF guards were on duty and MSF was in complete control of the compound." Doctors Without Borders said Taliban and Afghan government forces had complied with a no weapons policy at the center and "medical staff were making the most of the quiet night to catch up on the backlog of pending surgeries."

So, it appears that the US military, having known and confirmed the GPS coordinates with MSF, made a decision, understanding that all patients, including the Taliban, were completely complying with the "no weapons" policy at the hospital, to assassinate as many Taliban as they could, and hey, if they blew away staff... hell, that was only collateral damage.

The grisly and brutal message was, that even in what should have been the sanctuary of a highly acclaimed charitable medical group, the Taliban could be picked off and murdered by US troops with impunity, and that was precisely what happened.

And General Votel, you should be bloody ashamed of yourself for signing off on this lame excuse for the attack; this is your professional equivalent to Colin Powell's "yellowcake uranium" moment in front of the UN regarding Iraq, which was yet another lie spun for the consumption of US citizens and the world at large to further the US government's agenda.

I would like to politely suggest that if I, as an ordinary American citizen, can research this to its ultimate, and most reasonable, conclusion, so can millions of other Americans.

Votel's narrative about the attack just doesn't hold water, plain and simple.

U.S. military used 'roof knock' tactic in Iraq to try to warn civilians before bombing

The United States borrowed an Israeli military tactic known as "roof knocking" to try to warn civilians before it dropped a bomb targeting Islamic State fighters in Iraq this month, but a woman was killed in the attack, a U.S. military official said on Tuesday.

The controversial tactic consists of firing a warning missile above or near an intended target, to give residents time to flee before the real strike.

The Israeli military used such "roof knocks" in the 2014 Gaza war, but a United Nations commission found in 2015 that the tactic was not effective, because it often caused confusion and did not give residents enough time to escape.

Psychologists Urged to Examine Complicity In Supporting Abusive Systems of Torture in US Criminal Justice System and Covert Government Programs

Sure, we lived through air raids, after war were looted by the the French occupational forces, family members were raped, and the American occupiers confiscated my family home, including furniture and all else and we heard of the horrors experienced by the people fleeing west before the Russians, but I NEVER had any idea just how bad things were for so many. I also never knew of the hate Eisenhower had for Germans. Never was aware that Hitler's Germany lived up to the GENEVA Convention with 90% POW camp survivors, whereas the Allies (including the USA) had 85% death in camps where Nazis were held (all Germans were dubbed Nazis)after 1945.

Then, the Morgenthau Plan, which was meant to permanently erase the Germsan nation and culture within 2 generations.

The Pentagon’s Twisted Potlatch

Among the Kwakiutl and several other indigenous cultures of the Pacific Northwest, the potlatch was a ritual of hospitality. The host would invite guests to a big feast and then distribute gifts. The distribution was a way of demonstrating the host’s status: the more significant the gifts, the more important the host. Think: swag bags for the pre-celebrity era.

Did Wall Street Journal ad denying Armenian Genocide cross the line?

The decision by the WSJ to run an advertisement denying the Armenian Genocide was a judgment call, but it certainly seems to be pushing the limits of free speech, political cartoonist Ted Rall told RT.

Just days before Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day on April 24, the WSJ courted controversy by publishing an advert by a Turkish group denying genocide occurred. Armenia claims over one and a half million Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire were killed by Turks in 1915. Turkey admits Armenians were mistreated but denies any genocide took place.

Why Is the Progressive Left Helping the Elite Elect Hillary?

Have you noticed that it is not only the presstitute media and the two establishment political parties that are beating up on Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump but also the progressive left? Sometimes the messages overlap so much that the progressive left sounds like the One Percent. But mainly the progressive left is down on Sanders because he is “not pure,” and they don’t like Trump because he hurts people’s feelings and doesn’t apologize.

This is astounding. Here we are faced with the corrupt media and the corrupt party establishments determined to put in the Oval Office a tried and proven agent of the One Percent, and the progressive left is beating up on the only two alternatives!

Pratap Chatterjee, Inside the Devastation of America's Drone Wars

In our part of the world, it’s not often that potential “collateral damage” speaks, but it happened last week. A Pakistani tribal leader, Malik Jalal, flew to England to plead in a newspaper piece he wrote and in media interviews to be taken off the Obama White House’s “kill list.” (“I am in England this week because I decided that if Westerners wanted to kill me without bothering to come to speak with me first, perhaps I should come to speak to them instead.”) Jalal, who lives in Pakistan’s tribal borderlands, is a local leader and part of a peace committee sanctioned by the Pakistani government that is trying to tamp down the violence in the region. He believes that he’s been targeted for assassination by Washington. (Four drone missiles, he claims, have just missed him or his car.) His family, he says, is traumatized by the drones.

Australia’s Manus Island Refugee Detention Camp

The refugee processing system is incarceration by another name, a replica of torment and brutality that many asylum seekers flee. A calculus is at play: braving the lethal seas in the hope of arriving in Australia, only to be rendered to foreign Pacific centres with the charming hotel credentials of Camp X-Ray in Guantanamo. The only difference lies in the fashion sense: an absence of colourful jumpsuits.

The offshore gulag that Australian policy makers insist on running has effectively enacted the greatest grotesquery of an imperial project, a modern anti-refugee manifestation of the White Man’s Burden. It has strong-armed weaker, poorer states into a policing enterprise. It has done so through buccaneering private security firms. It has corrupted local officials in the higher goal of Australian security while brutalising segments of the local population.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As reported in TIME magazine on line in March of 2014:

Canberra says it's a matter of security and deterring people smugglers, but detainees pay a heavy price RECOMMENDED FOR YOU Watch Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones Explain Why People Should Stop Asking About Jon Snow Watch Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones Explain Why People… U.K. Will Be 'Permanently Poorer' If It Leaves E.U., Says Treasury Secretary U.K. Will Be 'Permanently Poorer' If It Leaves E.U., Says… Donald Trump Still Way Ahead in New York Primary Race Donald Trump Still Way Ahead in New York Primary Race You Won't Believe What She Looks Like Now Promoted You Won't Believe What She Looks Like Now Recommended by In 1992, Australia introduced a mandatory detention policy for non-citizens entering the country without a valid visa. It was intended to be a risk-management tool, enabling the health and security status of refugees and illegal immigrants to be checked while preventing such arrivals from simply vanishing into the general population. While that sounds reasonable on paper, the reality is that there are today around 10,000 men, women and children detained indefinitely, without hope of release unless they agree to return to the countries they risked their lives to flee in the first place. Just under half that number are being held in squalid detention centers in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the South Pacific island of Nauru that are breeding grounds for rape, rioting, malaria and mental illness, and that bear the look and feel of concentration camps. “If a liberal democracy decides a group of people, depending on where they come from, can have their liberty placed in jeopardy without the ability to defend themselves, then the consequences are very dire – not only for that specific group but for everyone in that country that supposedly lives under the rule of law,” says David Mann, head of the legal team at Melbourne’s Refugee and Immigration Legal Center. “It casts a very dark shadow over Australia’s commitment to human rights and fundamental respect for human dignity.” The government’s view is that Australia’s security must come first. “Security assessments are an important part of ensuring the safety of Australians,” the Attorney-General’s office told TIME. The authorities also say that holding asylum-seekers in places like PNG deters people smuggling. “The Government’s offshore processing policy is designed to prevent people smugglers sending illegal boats to Australia, which over the last five years has resulted in the deaths of over 1,100 people at sea and more than 15,000 people in camps around the world being denied resettlement in Australia, as their places were taken by people who arrived illegally by boat,” a spokesperson for the Ministry for Immigration and Border Protection said. “These policies are proving to be highly effective, with 75 days having passed without a successful people smuggling venture to Australia.” Critics however point to the harsh and often dangerous conditions of the camps. Last month, at a detention center on PNG’s Manus Island, a 23-year-old Iranian national, Reza Barati, was found dead with a blunt force trauma to the head, and 76 others refugees were shot or otherwise wounded, after local security guards responded to a protest by the 1,100 predominantly Middle Eastern asylum seekers kept there. The bloodshed sparked hundreds of candlelight vigils across Australia, including a 4000-strong protest in front of Sydney’s Town Hall. Hunger strikes took place at a number of other detention centers, and widespread condemnations were made by respected figures such former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, who oversaw the successful integration of thousands of Vietnamese refugees fleeing war in the late 1970s. Numerous social media campaigns have also surfaced to vent disapproval, including the website sorryasylumseekers.com where Australians post selfies taken while bearing placards reading “Not in my name".

Australia, you are better than this!!

Trump: Classified Part of 9/11 Report Shows ‘Very Profound’ Saudi Role

What about Israel and the Bush administration Donald!

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The final chapter of the 9/11 report consisting of 28 pages reportedly claims that a Saudi diplomat at a consulate in the US state of California directly aided at least two of the 19 hijackers when they arrived in the United States.

“I think I know what it’s going to say,” Trump told Fox News. “It’s going to be very profound, having to do with Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabia’s role on the World Trade Center and the attack.”

Webmaster addition: This is an example of my concern that too much of Trump's world view comes from what he sees on TV. Trump is not yet the President, and cannot see classified documents.

OBAMA WENT FROM CONDEMNING SAUDIS FOR ABUSES TO ARMING THEM TO THE TEETH

In the 2002 speech against the Iraq War that helped propel him to the presidency, then-state Sen. Barack Obama denounced not just the looming invasion of Iraq, but also human rights abuses by our “so-called allies” in Saudi Arabia:
Let’s fight to make sure our so-called allies in the Middle East, the Saudis and the Egyptians, stop oppressing their own people, and suppressing dissent, and tolerating corruption and inequality, and mismanaging their economies so that their youth grow up without education, without prospects, without hope, the ready recruits of terrorist cells.
And he spoke out against the U.S.’s role as weapons supplier to the world:

Let’s fight to make sure … that the arms merchants in our own country stop feeding the countless wars that rage across the globe.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In the current bent of American geopolitics, money trumps any possibly of intelligent, and enlightened, foreign policy every time, and the country's president is the "house servant" to the military industrial complex.

Nothing demonstrates that more clearly than does the US government's relationship with Saudi Arabia, a country with a human rights record just to the right of that of Attila the Hun.

"Corporate money uber alles" is the clear winner here.

US War Crimes in Iraq

US War Crimes in Iraq: Fallujah Residents Starving, Murdered, Besieged by US Backed Government Forces and ISIS

It is hard to imagine that anything worse could befall Fallujah after the war crimes and criminal assaults by the US military in 2004. At the time, one correspondent wrote:“There has been nothing like the attack on Fallujah since the Nazi invasion and occupation of much of the European continent – the shelling and bombing of Warsaw in September 1939, the terror bombing of Rotterdam in May 1940.” (1)

Seventy percent of houses and shops were reported destroyed, with those still standing damaged. Iraqi doctor, Ali Fadhil, described a city:

“ … completely devastated, destruction everywhere. It looked like a city of ghosts. Fallujah used to be a modern city, now there was nothing. We spent the day going through the rubble that had been the centre of the city; I didn’t see a single building that was functioning.”(City of Ghosts, The Guardian, January 11, 2005.)

Nicholas J. Davies, author of “Blood on our Hands – the American Invasion and Destruction of Iraq”, has written:

“The Fallujah Compensation Committee reported in March 2005 that the assault destroyed 36,000 homes, 9,000 shops, 65 mosques, 60 schools, both train stations, one of the two bridges, two power stations, three water treatment plants and the city’s entire sanitation and telephone systems.”

Craig Murray: The Telegram Criticising Bush That Got Me Sacked (as a British diplomat)

As this blog is now read daily by tens of thousands of people who had not heard of me before, some idea of where I come from might be in order. After a diplomatic career of rapid promotion (senior civil service age 36, my first Ambassadorship in Uzbekistan age 42) my opposition to Bush/Blair’s immoral and counter-productive foreign policy got me sacked.

This telegram (diplomatic communications are called that; cable in the USA) I am with retrospect very proud to have sent. To have made at the time the observation that the Bush/Blair policy of invasion, oppression and torture would not suppress fundamentalism, but would create it, was prescient. I should say I understood very well I would be sacked. Some things are worth being sacked for.

She urged her husband to bomb Yugoslavia. She pushed for “regime change” in Syria. She oversaw the coup that overthrew the democratically elected president of Honduras. She brought neoconservative Victoria Nuland, who arranged the coup that overthrew the democratically elected president of Ukraine, into the State Department. Hillary has called President Vladimir Putin of Russia the “new Hitler.” Hillary as president guarantees war and more war.

Let’s face it: in times of war, the Constitution tends to take a beating. CRIMINAL: DETAILS EMERGE OF WASHINGTON’S ‘FAST & FURIOUS’ ARMS TRAFFICKING IN SYRIA

No doubt about it. In comparison to Washington’s other weapons trafficking exploits, like Operation Fast & Furious, this one is even more reckless, dangerous, totally unethical – and completely illegal. Back in 2011, President Obama green-lighted one of the CIA’s worst ever operations – one which resulted in a five year-long flood of weapons, ammunition – right into the hands of ‘moderate’ terrorist fighters running wild in Syria. In total, hundreds of millions in US taxpayer funds have been spent on arming terrorists in Syria. This is no accident.

So obvious is this fact, that the Western media itself admits it, but simply dismisses the obvious and deeper implications such facts pose by claiming it is merely systemic incompetence. SAVE OUR CHILDREN BY SUPPORTING BDS

In the past few months, especially since the beginning of the current wave of Palestinian resistance against Israel’s enduring brutal military occupation, about six months ago, the Israeli army and other security forces adopted a decidedly murderous policy against Palestinians, especially children.

A shoot-to-kill policy was adopted by the Israeli political and military leadership, apparently for the purpose of terrorizing and “deterring” the Palestinian populace. Consequently, dozens of young Palestinians were needlessly murdered on the streets of the West Bank on the pretext that some of the victims may have put the life of Israeli soldiers at risk.

In some incidents, soldiers fired additional bullets at the heads of the already completely “neutralized” Victims.

In the Israeli army lexicon, this is done for the purpose of verifying their death.

REMEMBERING THE TERROR THAT LED TO JEWISH STATEHOOD

Palestinians on Saturday marked the 68th anniversary of the massacre of more than 100 Palestinians civilians carried out by Zionist paramilitary groups in the village of Deir Yassin in 1948 prior to the establishment of Israel.

Deir Yassin has long been a symbol of Israeli violence for Palestinians because of the particularly gruesome nature of the slaughter, which targeted men, women, children, and the elderly in the small village west of Jerusalem.

The number of victims is generally believed to be around 107, though figures given at the time reached up to 254, out of a village that numbered around 600 at the time.

The Deir Yassin massacre was led by the Irgun group, whose head was future Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, with support from other paramilitary groups Haganah and Lehi whose primary aim was to push Palestinians out through force.

Craig Murray: Two Smooth Faces of Evil

Many of you will recognise one of the faces in this photograph, Mark Regev. He is Israel’s new Ambassador to London and of course was the Israeli government spokesman who justified the massacre of more than 600 women and children in Gaza, and the murder of peace activists aboard the Mavi Marmara.

The other face of evil is Simon McDonald, head of the UK Diplomatic Service. You probably now think I am indulging in hyperbole. But no, I am not.

Simon McDonald was the Foreign Secretary Jack Straw’s Private Secretary at the time of the implementation of the British government’s extraordinary rendition and intelligence from torture programmes. When I became the only member of the UK’s senior civil service to make formal objection to these programmes, it was Simon McDonald who managed Jack Straw’s response in continuing to use torture.

'I was struck with multiple blows': inside the secret violence of Homan Square

Internal documents from the Chicago police department show that officers used physical force on at least 14 men already in custody at the warehouse known as Homan Square.

Police used punches, knee strikes, elbow strikes, slaps, wrist twists, baton blows and Tasers at Homan Square, according to documents released to the Guardian in the course of its transparency lawsuit about the warehouse. The new information contradicts an official denial about treatment of prisoners at the facility.

The injured men are among at least 7,351 people – more than 6,000 of them black – who, police documents show, have been detained and interrogated at Homan Square without a public notice of their whereabouts or access to an attorney.

Netanyahu to Kerry: Declare Israel doesn’t commit extrajudicial killings

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly asked John Kerry to publicly state that Israel does not carry out extrajudicial killings, after a group of U.S. lawmakers asked the secretary of state to investigate such claims.

Meanwhile, Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., the lead lawmaker making the request, rebuked Netanyahu for his initial response to the revelation of the letter, saying the Israeli leader misunderstood the relevant law, which requires defunding military units underwritten by U.S. government funds should they be found in violation of U.S. human rights norms.

Ghosts of the Past: The Story of Red Army Captives in Poland

While the Polish government is preparing to demolish 500 monuments devoted to the memory of Soviet soldiers who died liberating Poland from the Nazi invaders, another disturbing historic episode comes to mind – the story of tens of thousands of Soviet prisoners of war tormented in Polish captivity back in the 1920s.

An Open Letter to President Barack Obama

This despair has hung over our heads for at least the past 10 years, the result of Israel’s harsh collective punishment of the 1.9 million human beings who struggle to survive in Gaza. Half of them are children younger than your Sasha and Malia; many are babies, like mine, held in their parents’ arms.

United States Of Torture: When It Comes To “Enhanced Interrogation,” Americans Agree With Donald Trump

As far as we know — which often isn’t much when issues of national security are involved — the U.S. government stopped waterboarding suspected terrorists around 10 years ago.

And as the current administration is quick to remind people, one of the first things Barack Obama did after being sworn in as president was issue an executive orderbanning so-called enhanced interrogation techniques.

The Wounded Phoenix of Palmyra

As DGAM explains to visitors, while ISIS terrorists target treasures and encourage looting and illicit trafficking to fund their operations, claiming that they consider that statues are idols against their ideologies and, consequently, they do not trade with them. But part of the reality is that ISIS could not find many of the artifacts given that DGAM with the help of the local population had already evacuated them.

Prisoners of War

The Continental Congress ultimately accepted responsibility for the administration of prisoners of war, but gave broad authority on the matter to the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, General George Washington.

Washington took an active role in the prisoner situation and was a constant advocate for the fair treatment of prisoners.

With few facilities to accommodate large numbers of prisoners, both the Americans and the British participated in prisoner exchange. Though Washington was actively involved in these matters, he appointed commissaries to handle the day-to-day details.

What motivates US policy toward Israel?  An Analysis  by Lawrence Davidson

Israeli journalist Gideon Levy tells us that “American liberals should know … that they are supporting the first sign of fascism in Israel. I don't call it yet fascism, but [the] first signs [are] very clear. … And America keeps financing it. This should be known and should be recognized by any American, mainly the liberals, who care where their taxpayer money goes, and so much of it.

CIA Caught Taking Naked Photos of Detainees BEFORE Torturing Them to Prove They Weren’t Tortured

By Claire Bernish

A new report from the Guardian says the “CIA took naked photographs of people it sent to its foreign partners for torture.”

These detainees had been part of the CIA’s covert practice of “extraordinary renditions” — the “U.S. government’s global kidnap and secret detention” program. Because the CIA operated the program to avoid scrutiny, exactly how many detainees have been “rendered” remains unclear — as is how many of them were photographed naked by the agency.

Insiders with knowledge of the photographs say the purpose of the pictures was to act as a buffer against potential political and legal fallout from torture perpetrated by the U.S. and its allies. CIA officials claim such documentation would provide evidence of humane treatment while prisoners were in the agency’s custody...

These people tortured to obtain false information to go to war on a lie in Iraq. Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush, Gonzales, Tenet, Hayden and all the other torturers should be in jail.

Cheney turned to torture for the purpose of selling the Iraq war, not preventing another 9/11
The report found that Maj. Paul Burney, a United States Army psychiatrist assigned to interrogations in Guantánamo Bay that summer of 2002, told Army investigators of another White House imperative: “A large part of the time we were focused on trying to establish a link between Al Qaeda and Iraq and we were not being successful.” As higher-ups got more “frustrated” at the inability to prove this connection, the major said, “there was more and more pressure to resort to measures” that might produce that intelligence.

Human Experimentation Rampant In The United States

In an article in the New Republic in December, 1998, former UNSCOM leader Scott Ritter decried Iraq’s chemical and biological weapons experiments on human subjects. Wrote Ritter,

We had received credible intelligence that 95 political prisoners had been transferred from the Abu Ghraib Prison to a site in western Iraq, where they had been subjected to lethal testing under the supervision of a special unit from the Military Industrial Commission, under Saddam’s personal authority.

The stance of the United States and her allies has always been that such experiments bear the watermark of a brutal dictatorship and are never engaged in by the free world.

Criticism of IDF ‘outrageous’ – Netanyahu after soldier finishes off wounded Palestinian stabber

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken out against any criticism of the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), despite the outrage over footage that emerged of an IDF soldier seemingly executing a prone and wounded Palestinian attacker.

“The soldiers of the IDF, our children, maintain high ethical values while courageously fighting against bloodthirsty murderers under difficult operational conditions. We must all support the IDF Chief-of-Staff, the IDF, and our soldiers, who safeguard our security,” Netanyahu said, as quoted by AP.

Israelis rally around soldier filmed executing injured Palestinian

A new video shows an Israeli soldier shaking hands with a settler leader just after the soldier was filmed apparently executing an injured Palestinian in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.

The video has emerged as Israelis, including top leaders, are rallying around the accused killer.

Abd al-Fattah Yusri al-Sharif was shot dead along with Ramzi Aziz al-Qasrawi, both of them 21 years old, after allegedly stabbing and moderately wounding a soldier in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood of Hebron’s Old City on Thursday.

The slaying of al-Sharif, who was lying on the ground incapacitated but moving his head before he was shot, was caught on video.

The new video shows the shooter “shaking hands with far-right activist Baruch Marzel” while al-Sharif’s body is removed from the scene, according to Haaretz.

The US-born Marzel, a former leader of the violent group Kach, is notorious for fomenting attacks on Palestinians.
