Whatever strategy President Barack Obama lays out Wednesday to combat the Islamic State is sure to rely heavily on buy-in from rival Muslim powerhouses Saudi Arabia and Iran – one a Sunni Muslim kingdom with its own grim penchant for beheadings and the other a Shiite pariah state that’s executed thousands of dissidents.

Though hardly ideal, these partners are vital to any serious effort to weaken the Islamic State, according to foreign policy analysts who are tracking the U.S. response. Depending on hardline Islamist theocracies to help in the fight against an even more militant, self-proclaimed caliphate is among the many uncomfortable scenarios Obama must accept if he’s serious about wading deeper into Middle Eastern wars.

Oh my, yet another "Laptop of Death" (Reg. trademark The White House). The first Laptop of Death back in 2007 supposedly proved Iran was building a nuclear weapon, but experts concluded the documents on it were hoaxes created by someone with no real knowledge of nuclear technology and that laptop was ultimately traced back to Israel, not Iran.

But government follows the old adage that if at first you don't succeed, lie, lie again!

So here we have "Laptop of Death: The Sequel!"

Now, setting aside the past history of these laptops being hoaxes, stop and think for a moment. If you had documents that were that important and incriminating, would you leave them on a laptop or put them on a flash drive on your personal keychain, just so that you could not lose them?

Would you not keep such documents encrypted to prevent prying eyes in a situation where you know your operation has likely been infiltrated by foreign spies? Over at my website, we issued no less than 6 code challenges to the NSA over the last year, none of which were broken, proving that anyone with a little programming experience can invent new methods of encryption that the NSA cannot break. Do you really believe that anyone really planning terror leaves their plans in clear text on a laptop just waiting to be found? Now after Gaddafi was overthrown, the Libyan armories were looted, and massive quantities of weapons were sent by the Libyan rebels to Syria. The weapons, which included anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles were smuggled into Syria through Turkey, a NATO ally. The times of London reported on the arrival of the shipment on September 14th, 2012. (Secondary confirmation in this NYT article) This was just three days after Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed by the attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi. Chris Stevens had served as the U.S. government's liaison to the Libyan rebels since April of 2011.

Obama ready to strike at Islamic State militants in Syria, he tells policy experts

President Obama is prepared to use U.S. military airstrikes in Syria as part of an expanded campaign to defeat the Islamic State and does not believe he needs formal congressional approval to take that action, according to people who have spoken with the president in recent days.

The goal is war with Syria. That was the goal last year with the lie about Assad gassing his own Alawite supporters with Sarin gas right in front of the UN chemical weapons inspectors last year and it remains the goal today with the US-created ISIS and the staged beheading videos.

Under the Constitution, Obama does not have the authority to arbitrarily bomb Syria, especially since Assad does not want him there.

Obama does not have ther authority to bomb Syria under international law. U.N. Charter, Article 2 , paragraph 4, “ “All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.”

If there was ever a time to invoke the 25th Amendment, today is the day!

Obama’s ISIS War: Profit for Military Contractors

“The military task has, in fact, been outsourced in Iraq,” analyst Steven Schooner, a professor at George Washington University Law School, told the Journal.

The Pentagon has converted Iraq with its violent sectarian rivalries into a lucrative business opportunity for a burgeoning mercenary and contractor industry that has blossomed in the wake of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Obama’s ISIS war arrives at an opportune time for contractors. From 2008 to 2013, according to data provided to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the five largest U.S. defense contractors have experienced a 14 percent drop in employees. Lockheed Martin Corporation, the biggest defense contractor in the world, cut its workforce by 20 percent, International Business Times reported in August. The ISIS war now gearing up will undoubtedly restore lost revenue and provide for lost jobs.

American Imperialism and the Rise of Islamic Extremism in Syria and Iraq

While the ostensible target of the expanded war drive in the Middle East is now ISIS, behind the scenes the American ruling class is seeking to utilize the crisis surrounding ISIS to rejuvenate the “war on terror” and prepare action against the Assad government—to finish what it started. Assad has traditionally been a close ally of both Iran and Russia, the latter a target of an escalating war drive set off by the right-wing US and German backed coup in Ukraine.

ISIS is not, as the American government and mainstream media insist, an inexplicable “evil” force or a “cancer.” The success of ISIS and other Islamic extremist groups in Syria and Iraq is very much a product of American foreign policy in the Middle East.

And he has already telegraphed that it will be a long war. Long wars mean very expensive wars. He says it will be a three-year campaign. US Officials: New War on ISIS Will Take Years

Even though US officials still don’t really have an idea of how they will actually defeat ISIS, they do seem to at least agree that wiping the group out in both Iraq and Syria is going to take a very long time.

President Obama had qualified the war as not a question of “weeks” early on, though officials are now saying that it’s going to be more like years, and likely not just a couple of those.

The Pentagon planners are envisioning a “minimum” commitment of 36 months, which in keeping with their usual grossly optimistic estimates, could mean far, far longer.

‘Property of US Govt’: Islamic State jihadists armed with US military weapons

Islamic State fighters appear to be using captured US military issue arms and weapons supplied to moderate rebels in Syria by Saudi Arabia, according to a report published on Monday.

The study by the London-based small-arms research organisation Conflict Armament Research documented weapons seized by Kurdish forces from militants in Iraq and Syria over a 10-day period in July.

The report said the jihadists disposed of “significant quantities” of US-made small arms including M16 assault rifles and included photos showing the markings “Property of US Govt”.

US forms ten-nation coalition to escalate war in Iraq, Syria

US officials announced Friday that a "core coalition" of 10 countries, nine NATO members plus Australia, had agreed on a joint program of action against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the fundamentalist group whose forces now control much of eastern Syria and western and northern Iraq.

US Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel met on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Wales with their counterparts from Australia, Britain, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Turkey.

According to Reuters, Kerry explained the program for fighting ISIS as follows: "We need to attack them in ways that prevent them from taking over territory, to bolster the Iraqi security forces and others in the region who are prepared to take them on, without committing troops of our own."

Kerry later reiterated the last point, saying, "Obviously, I think that's a red line for everybody here: no boots on the ground."

Obama strategy to beat Islamic State likely to draw U.S. into years of conflict

The U.S.-led international strategy to combat the Islamic State that President Barack Obama sketched out Friday is likely to require years of thorny diplomacy and deeper U.S. military involvement in conflicts that he’s struggled to avoid.

Obama’s remarks at the end of a NATO summit in Wales offered the administration’s most in-depth explanation to date of how it plans to fight the Islamic State, the transnational extremist group that has seized control of an area as large as Jordan straddling the dividing line between Syria and Iraq.

The nascent strategy calls for working with European and Arab allies to confront the group not only in Iraq, where the U.S. is conducting airstrikes to assist government-aligned fighters, but also in Syria, where the United States has failed to fulfill its years-long promise to help build a moderate rebel force.

Webmaster's Commentary: 

Let me tell you precisely what this drive is to "sell" the American people on a new invasion of Iraq, and Syria, and possibly, Libya.

This is not about "protecting American freedom and democracy" (what paltry bits of it are left to the American people, after the passage of the Homeland Security Act, the Patriot Act, and the NDAA).

This is about making sure that all the oil developed and sold in the region is only sold to those entities the US wishes to sell to, and only in the US dollar.

Although the guy got a lot wrong, Carl Marx was absolutely correct, when he stated, "All wars are economic". War is about obtaining geopolitical objective byS other means than negotiations.

The innumerable deaths, the maimings and tearing apart of innocent families, and the destruction of homes, schools, and infrastructure, means nothing, and have utterly no moral repercussions, to those who believe that war is the only way to ensure the economic viability of the US dollar.

IF the US government had spent just a fraction of the money they have spent on the wars toward a sustainable renewable energy which can drive a tank, or power a plane, none of these catastophes like the war in Iraq; the war in Afghanistan; and the war against Libya, would never, ever have become necessary.

So what is the US government's answer to these absolutely, catastrophically failed wars?!?

MORE WAR.

So, again, the price in blood and money of these endeavors, is all about private profit for US and multinational corporations.

That is why countless of our finest military personnel will wind up dead, or maimed for life: private corporate profit, period, end of discussion.

And of course, bankers love war, because all sides come to them for the loans at interest,with which to support these wars.

We are headed toward absolute disaster, by continuing these failed national policies.

But of course, the people creating these wars do not care: they have their bunkers, and it won't be their kids, getting killed and maimed for life.

And even if the draft comes back in this country (and remember: Charlie Rangel, last year, introduced draft legislation which will be coming for BOTH your sons and your daughters), the elite always, somehow, find a way out for their kids.

House Leader: Congress Could Force War on ISIS to Escalate

Hawkishness toward ISIS has become fashionable these days among US politicians, and even the ever-escalating war against ISIS in Iraq, and talks of expanding it into Syria, aren’t nearly enough for many Congressmen’s tastes.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R – CA), the House Majority Leader, pushed for a bigger war, and sooner, insisting in a new interview that “if the president won’t act, I think we have to take some action to move forward.”

Four different House committees are expected to hold hearings next week on ISIS, and Rep. McCarthy insisted that they needed to come up with a “concise foreign policy doctrine” for the war.

Memo to Representative McCarthy: it is easy for those of you in the bowels of power to talk about going to war, when it is not your sons or daughters who will be killed, or maimed for life, in a military action which is only, and solely, about the protection of private, corporate profit.

But this time, sir, Americans will not be so willing to ride the war train, because they know that the ultimate objective is NOT about preserving our "freedoms" or "democracy", but about whose currency is the reserve currency of the world.

The last 3 military misadventures undertaken by the US military have concluded in catastrophic disaster; Iraq is a mess; Libya is about to be overtaken by a caliphate; and Afghanistan is a brutal and bloody war of attrition, 13 years on, in which the US and NATO forces are losing spectacularly.

It appears that the American political class are pathologically incapable of resolving their differences with countries around the world, other than overthrowing regimes, and replacing them with tin-pot dictators, which ultimately get overthrown by the people of those countries, so losing those countries yet again.

United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power says the United States is concerned that the most dangerous terrorist groups could get a hold of chemical weapons if Syria is hiding any stockpiles.

We know of course that Syria has disposed of all its chemical weapons and that these were destroyed under the eyes of the OPCW. But Iraq had also disposed of all its WMD and that it has none left was in fact one reason why it could be and was easily attacked.

So is Obama is doubling down (again) on Syria? Hoping that the mystical "Free Syrian Army" (Jihadis in disguise) heavily supports by the U.S. will fight the Islamic State and the Syrian government?

Webmaster's Commentary: 

This is NOT about our safety and security; a new war in the Middle East is NOT about protecting our "freedoms" (such paltry ones as we may have left, after the passage of the Homeland Security Act; the Patriot Act; and the NDAA).

This is solely about money; which country's currency is accepted to pay for the oil in the region, and who has access to the oil.

I do not want to see one more of our military get killed or maimed for life in the pursuit of private profit, and I would like to hope that no thinking person out there would want to see this happening either.

We have had the chance to observe just how "wonderfully" the American interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya have gone; one would imagine that with that kind of a dreadful track record, the US government would be not inclined to try this again.

But here they are, desperate for yet another war, courtesy of a rapidly declining dollar and the wish to misdirect the American people from the true reasons for their economic misery.

Americans must join together, peacefully, and say, one massive NO to this rush for another war in the Middle East.

I am, frankly, very concerned about some kind of hideous false flag, courtesy, of this government on the anniversary of 9/11, to attempt to get the American people behind this coming war.

But I would strongly caution this government that the American people are hesitant in the extreme to believe anything this government tells them, because if a proven pattern of governmental lies, which has destroyed its credibility completely.

Cameron seems to be considering breaking International law, not once but twice.

First he is considering arming the Kurds in Iraq without the permission from the Iraqi Government. Perhaps he thinks there really is a Kurdistan.

ISIS, ISIL or IS is armed, funded and trained by the USA. Their objective in Iraq is to totally destabalise the nation and weakening it by splitting it into three, part Kurd, part Iraqi and the remainder an Islamic Caliphate.

Secondly he’s openly suggesting that the UK should bomb parts of Syria without the permission of the Syrian Government , not any different in the slightest with Blair’s illegal invasion of Iraq. Cameron declares the Assad Government to be illegitimate.

That being the case in his mind, means that not a country in the world is safe from invasion or attack, Cameron can simply declare the Government to be illegitimate.

ISIL completely fabricated enemy by US: Former CIA contractor

Former CIA contractor Steven Kelley says that the ISIL terrorist group is a completely fabricated enemy created and funded by the United States.

“This is a completely fabricated enemy,” he said in a phone interview with Press TV from Anaheim, California on Thursday.

Ahmad Fawzi, a spokesman for peace envoy Kofi Annan, reported the arrival and said the U.N. is already asking members to contribute 200 to 250 soldiers to monitor a cease-fire that officials hope would start April 10.

Annan has asked the Norwegian major-general, Robert Mood, to begin discussing with the Syrian authorities “the eventual deployment of this U.N. supervision and monitoring mission,” Fawzi said.

Such a contingent would first have to be authorized by the 15-nation Security Council.

Webmaster's Commentary: 

I frankly wouldn't hold my breath that magically, just because of a date on a calendar, that the "rebel forces" (read: hired mercs) will lay down their weapons, and sing "Kumbyah", along with Syrian forces.

My suspicion is that Annan pushed al-Assad for this deadline for cessation of hostilities because such a deadline is not achievable.

And what happens, then, on the 11th of April, if there has been no substantive cease-fire? And what world player will be willing, if not eager, to act, even without a UN mandate?

Were I a betting woman, I would not bet against some kind of "shadow NATO engagement" to bring about regime change, but the kind of involvement which couldn't quite be pinned directly on NATO by a very angered China and Russia, which would, reasonably, see such an action as an "end-run" against the UN, and done without any UN mandate whatever.

US: UN Must Act Against Syria After April 10 Deadline

A new UN Security Council resolution reiterating their approval of the Kofi Annan ceasefire deal in Syria and urging both sides to stop fighting by April 10 has been stalled on specific wording, with the US seemingly trying to work the resolution into some sort of mandate.

US Ambassador Susan Rice insisted that the United Nations has to act “urgently and seriously” against Syria once the April 10 deadline the Annan government agreed upon passes, assuming there is no halt to operations.
