Planning Chaos in the Middle East: Destruction of Societies for Foreign Money Control

If one wonders how a desert-crawling line of Japanese open-back trucks gifted by the US filled with countless irregular fighters in plain view could ever have ever made it overnight to the point where Western military and political leaders are saying “the war against ISIL may be interminable”, one begins to see through the game. ISIL is a step up in the US-led control of the Middle East by terror, chaos and social devastation. “The Salvador option” was the first name for the post-war death squads in Iraq, but “Islamic State” stirs much more apocalyptic passions pro and con. Best of all, the ruling foreign war machines of the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia and NATO are now far better justified to “fight the barbaric terrorists”. Saudi Arabia with US support is now even projecting the “terrorist” and sectarian “Shiite” labels on the popular uprising of the poor in Yemen against a corrupt US-Saudi puppet government. One object alone is achieved. Peoples and resources of the region can be predated without sovereign social defences or unity of collective life purpose, the ultimate target of every US-led aggression. As long as all evils can be blamed on an ever-shifting Enemy, there is no overcoming recognition.

India freezes Greenpeace bank accounts

The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has frozen seven bank accounts belonging to Greenpeace environmental organisation, Hindu newspaper reported on Thursday.
The move follows a report published by the Indian intelligence service, which accuseed Greenpeace and a number of other non-governmental organizations of affecting the country's development, Hindu said.
The newspaper said that the Greenpeace Indian office would not be able to get financing from overseas, which totaled $1.7 million last year.
The Greenpeace office in New Delhi told TASS that the government had not yet officially informed them about the accounts' freezing.
The Indian government has earlier repeatedly banned local Greenpeace activists from leaving the country and refused to issue visas to its foreign representatives.
On March 4, the Indian government banned 69 NGOs financed from overseas, as, according to intelligence reports, in 2014 they received more than $1.6 billion used to destablise the situation in India.

Pakistan parliament opposed to involvement in Yemen war

Since Monday, the legislators have been discussing Riyadh’s request from Islamabad to contribute ships, aircraft, and troops to the warfare. In the face of the two countries’ strong alliance, the Pakistani parliament has overwhelmingly rejected the idea of military intervention in Yemen, with lawmakers saying they do not see the impoverished Arab Peninsula nation as a threat to the integrity of Saudi Arabia.

“The Yemen war is not our war...Our advice to the government is that the army should not go,” said opposition member of parliament Shireen Mazari on Wednesday, adding, “As Muslims, we are duty-bound to counter any threat to holy shrines but there is no such threat today.”

Opposition Senator Tahir Hussain Mashadi said the “aggressors” were the Saudis and the victims were the Yemenis. “Now the aggressors are asking another sovereign state, Pakistan, to come to provide military aid to Saudi Arabia.”

Pakistan court says former CIA station chief will face charges over drone strike

The former head of the CIA in Pakistan should be tried for murder and waging war against the country, a high court judge ruled on Tuesday.

Criminal charges against Jonathan Banks, the former CIA station chief in Islamabad, were ordered in relation to a December 2009 attack by a US drone which reportedly killed at least three people.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Islamabad high court also ruled charges should be brought against John A Rizzo, formerly the top CIA lawyer who gave the legal green light for drone strikes.

Banks’s name was first dragged into the public domain in 2010 when a tribesman called Karim Khan began legal action against the supposedly undercover spy chief over an attack by an unmanned aircraft on his home in North Waziristan which he said killed his brother and son.

The extraordinary unmasking of a sitting station chief forced Banks to quit his post and leave the country.

Monkeys 'hinder India internet drive'

The federal government has planned to lay 700,000 km (435,000 miles) of broadband cable to connect India's 250,000 village clusters within three years.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar claimed that recent accidents involving submarines were the result of not following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Mr. Parrikar was speaking to the press at the Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) after commemorating the undocking of the first of class submarine of Project 75, named Kalvari, the Tiger Shark. Over 32,000 arrested in anti-terror operations since Peshawar carnage

Pakistan's law enforcement agencies have arrested over 32,000 people on different charges in more than 28,000 anti-militant operations in the aftermath of the Peshawar school massacre, the government said on Saturday.

The arrests were made after the launch of the National Action Plan (NAP) in December which aims to rid the country of terrorism following Taliban's massacre at an army school in Peshawar in which 150 people, including 136 students were killed.

32,347 people were arrested on different charges in 28,826 anti-militants operations conducted across the country, the government said.

The Roots of Netanyahu’s Electoral Victory: Colonial Expansion and Fascist Ideology

In India banned arrests for comments on social networks

India's Supreme court overturned a law allowing police to arrest people for comments in social networks and other sites. This is reported by BBC News.
Previously, for posting videos, pictures, comments and sending messages that could appear to the authorities "offensive", users faced up to three years in prison.
Human rights activists believed that the law violates the principle of freedom of speech. The government, in turn, was active in his support.

India wants France to stick to the original terms of its deal to buy Rafale fighter jets, or it might call it off. If the manufacturers fail to comply, India may opt for the Russian designed Su-30 currently being produced domestically.

ISIL Pakistani operative admits to getting funding through US

The ISIL operative, identified as Yousaf al-Salafi, told Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies that he received funding through the US, the Express Tribune reported on Wednesday.

Salafi was taken into custody in December 2014, according to the paper, although other reports said he was arrested on January 22.

“During investigations, Yousaf al Salafi revealed that he was getting funding – routed through America – to run the organization in Pakistan and recruit young people to fight in Syria,” a source close to the investigations made the announcement.

Previously secret documents obtained by Der Speigel – including a ‘Kill List’ that included both Pakistani and Afghan targets – have raised new concerns about British complicity in the US’s covert drone war in Pakistan.

Over Kill: Aiming for Two Militant Leaders in Pakistan, U.S. Drone Pilots Killed 233 People, including 89 Children

The U.S. drone program in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Yemen is referred to as “targeted killing” of those deemed to be a danger to American interests. President Barack Obama even said in a speech on May 23, 2013, “[B]y narrowly targeting our action against those who want to kill us, and not the people they hide among, we are choosing the course of action least likely to result in the loss of innocent life.” Instead, the Central Intelligence Agency attacks are anything but targeted; hundreds often die in the multiple attempts to kill each individual.

A study (pdf) by Reprieve, a group that works against the death penalty and other government killing, showed that not only are many innocent lives lost in the attacks, but the actual targets are often missed. That can result in some being “killed” multiple times. Reprieve found 41 men whose deaths had been reported multiple times but remained alive while as many as 1,147 civilians in the kill zone died.

The question thinking Americans must ask right now is, how do alleged "radicals" become radicalized against the US and the West?!?

Is it because there is some degree of transparency in their government, and votes actually count during elections?

Is it because people can work for decent wages, and are able to take care of their families, which have the advantage of low-cost, world-class medical care and a competitive education which can give that country a real, tangible edge in future generations?

I would strongly suggest, not at all.

When people are trapped with a US-imposed tinpot dictator, who has some material or geostrategic advantage to offer, and understands that the US will provide any means necessary to suppress even peaceful protest, people get angry at the US.

The Kingdom of Bahrain is a perfect case in point. Bahrain, home to the US Navy's 5th fleet, is ruled by the Sunni Al-Khalifa monarchy, but the majority of Bahrain's people are Shiite Muslim.

When there were peaceful demonstrations a couple of years ago, where Bahrain's people were asking for a move toward a Constitutional monarchy, not only were they attacked, arrested,tortured, and jailed, after a kangaroo court hearing; the first responders who gave them medical aid were also attacked, arrested,tortured, and jailed after a kangaroo court hearing.

To say that the people of Bahrain are not particularly happy with their government, and profoundly unhappy with the US government for supporting it, is like saying the Titanic hit a little ice.

And IF a true revolution comes to this country which cannot be put down by either the Bahraini or Saudi military, I will be willing to bet you that executives of the US State Department, the Pentagon, Congress, and the White House will collectively have that glazed "deer in the headlights" look, claiming they never saw it coming.

President Kennedy said it best: "when peaceful revolution is impossible, violent revolution is inevitable."

As a Christian pacifist, I abhor violence, and would never advocate its use; I can understand, however, how violence becomes the ultimate, collective response to how people are brutally treated by a leadership more interested in US "foreign aid" ( read: bribery to keep the people "in their place"), and which generally never gets to the people who desperately need it, (as in the case with Yemen), than with improving the lot of their citizens. The citizens of Yemen are not happy, particularly in light of the fact that that US drone attacks are killing innocent men, women, children, and the medically fragile in their country.

These slaughtered innocents have names; they have families and friends who loved them.

And if some of these people were at the end of their collective rope, and became radicalized, it is the US foreign policy of supporting despots against their own people, while butchering the innocent, which has put them there. I cannot, morally, support a US foreign policy which does this.

And the most painful irony here, is that this is a foreign policy approach which is ultimately doomed to fail. You may want to ask the citizens of Cuba, Chile, or Iran about that, if you have the guts to do so.

To get what they want economically and geopolitically, the Chinese and Russian leadership are making deals; to get what the US government wants, it is waging wars, which appear to be on the verge of some massive and brutal escalation across the globe.

NSA monitoring situation: China training Pakistani troops along India border

The report, accessed by PTI, said these military manoeuvres were being conducted at forward defence locations of Pakistan which are usually manned by border guarding personnel– the Pakistan Rangers.

Preliminary inputs analysed by BSF also showed some Pakistan Army units have taken over paramilitary posts of Rangers opposite Sriganganagar sector.

BSF also found a handful of new observation towers have also been set up by Pakistan in recent past along Abohar and Gurdaspur sectors in Punjab.

The BSF intelligence reported that phone intercepts along the border indicate that Pakistan Army and Rangers are planning to deploy snipers and sharp shooters at strategic locations and posts to target Indian soldiers and assets.

Pakistan court issues arrest warrants for protest leaders Khan, Qadri

Pakistani opposition leaders reacted with outrage on Thursday after a court issued arrest warrants for a top politician and a firebrand cleric who led protests in the capital of Islamabad aiming to topple the government.

An anti-terrorism court issued the arrest warrants for opposition leader and former cricketer Imran Khan and cleric Tahir ul-Qadri late on Wednesday. The warrants accused their supporters of storming parliament and the state television building on Sept 1.

The warrants may provoke fresh unrest at a time when the country is struggling to rebuild its image.

Thousands of protesters led by Khan and Qadri demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over allegations of corruption and vote-rigging in the May 2013 polls.

2 Rebels, Civilian Killed in Indian Kashmir

Two suspected rebels and a civilian were killed in a fierce gunbattle in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir, an Indian security official said Friday.

Central Reserve Police Force Inspector General Nalin Prabhat said the clash began Thursday and raged all night. He said the civilian was hit in the crossfire and succumbed to his injuries.

However, local residents said civilians began throwing stones at the troops, who responded with shots, killing one of them. Resentment against Indian rule and the heavy presence of security troops runs deep in Indian-held Kashmir.

There was no independent confirmation of the incident and no immediate comment from the dozens of rebel groups fighting Indian rule.

Rebels have been battling Indian control since 1989. More than 68,000 people have been killed in the fighting and in a subsequent Indian military crackdown.

India sterilisation: Police arrest drug factory owners

Indian police have arrested the owners of two pharmaceutical factories as part of the investigation into the deaths of 15 women after sterilisation surgery.

The two men were held on charges of destroying evidence - which they deny.

The doctor who conducted the surgery has also been detained. He denies negligence, saying the medicine administered may have been faulty.

Their cause of death remains unclear. The surgeries were part of a state-run mass sterilisation campaign.

I was in one of the poorest parts of India, although there are other locations that are even more extreme. Suicide attack kills 45 on India-Pakistan border

A suicide bombing near the India-Pakistan border has killed at least 45 people, Pakistani police say. Women and children are amongst the dead following the blast, which took place near the Pakistani city of Lahore. The injury count is currently around 70.

"The death toll increased to 45," the provincial police chief in Lahore told Reuters.

A senior police official verified the claims that the blast at the Wagah crossing was a suicide attack. "According to initial information it was a suicide attack," Inspector General of Punjab Police, Mushtaq Sukhera, told local television channels. "When ... security was a bit relaxed, the suicide attacker blew himself up near a restaurant," he added.

A senior Pakistani Taliban commander has claimed responsibility for the attack. "We claim the Lahore suicide attack," senior commander Gilamn Mehsud said.

Turkey and China to mediate between Afghanistan and Pakistan

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong said on Sunday the cooperation among China, Afghanistan and Pakistan would benefit the region and emphasized that building mutual trust and friendly consultations between these countries should be encouraged to promote cooperation.

He made these remarks in his keynote address on the opening day of China-Afghanistan-Pakistan trilateral dialogue here.

A collective regional approach toward countering issues and meeting challenges was emphasized by diplomats, scholars and researchers at the dialogue.

Thanking Pakistan-China Institute Chairman Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed and German political foundation, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Pakistan, Resident Representative Ronny Heine for jointly organizing the two-day international conference, Ambassador Weidong said both Afghanistan and Pakistan were close neighbouring countries and were good neighbours to China.

Regional dialogue here, to heal some of the wounds, and ratchet down the tensions, is far preferable to the kind of outside intervention (including extrajudicial assassinations) the US military has been providing here, and may form the basis of real cooperation between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

India PM Orders ‘Heavy Losses’ in Pakistan

Firefights continued along the Line of Control between Indian and Pakistani Kashmir tonight, with Pakistan reporting 12 civilians slain in cross-border firing so far this month, and urging the United Nations to stop the growing clashes.

India’s Home Ministry reported the latest orders from Modi are “to ensure that Pakistan suffers deep and heavy losses” in the cross-border fighting, following up on Modi’s bragging about firing 1,000 mortars into Pakistani territory.

IF India's Prime Minister Modi actually made those remarks, he will go down as one of India's worst warmonger Prime Ministers in its history.

Because it is not only the Pakistani military which will be killed and maimed for life as this conflict continues; it will also be Pakistan's innocent civilians; children; women; and the medically fragile elderly, unable to escape the firefights.

IF EVER there was a time for the UN and Dr. Ban Ki-Moon to "grow some male attributes" regarding this situation, it is now.

Both countries need to agree to UN peacekeepers on their border, and to back away from escalation of the conflict.

Then, representatives of BOTH countries need to enter into serious, binding arbitration to prevent this from ever happening between them again.

Unfortunately, however, this is very unlikely to happen, even though it desperately needs to happen, to prevent a regional war.

And please remember: the US and India have a mutual defense pact with India, signed in 2005, and goes through December 31st, 2015.
In any major confrontation between India and Pakistan, the US military would have to get involved in India's behalf.

The big question is, what would China do, in a larger military confrontation between India and Pakistan, for Pakistan?!?

India PM: Time for Bullets, Not Talk With Pakistan

Civilians on both sides of the Kashmir Line of Control got a brief respite today from a solid week of cross-border fighting between Indian and Pakistan forces, but leaders on both sides indicate it is likely to remain brief indeed.

In a statement at Maharashtra, Indian Premier Narendra Modi lashed Congress for meaningless statements on the border clashes, saying it is “not the time for empty talk by them, but for bullets by our soldiers.”

Webmaster's Commentary: 

This is a singularly depressing statement for the Indian Prime Minister to have made, publicly, at this time.

I would encourage both sides to ratchet down the rhetoric, and negotiate in a meaningful, good-will atmosphere, to get the shootings and border violations to stop.

More dead and crippled innocents will be an horrific moral stain on the reputations of the leadership of both countries.

Fighting Intensifies on India-Pakistan Border

There have been more civilians killed in cross-border fighting between India and Pakistan in the disputed region of Kashmir.

Indian officials say at least two civilians were killed and 18 wounded Tuesday night in gunfire and mortar exchanges. Pakistani media report three deaths from Indian firing.

Nine people were killed Monday, marking the highest civilian death toll in the Kashmir conflict in more than a decade.

Thousands of civilians have been evacuated on both sides.

Indian Air Chief Marshal, Arup Raha, says India is seeking a quick resolution to bring the border flare-up to an end.

India, Pakistan exchange fire over Kashmir border for second day

Tens of thousands of villagers fled their homes in Kashmir on Monday, as Indian and Pakistani troops bombarded each other with gunfire and mortar shells over the border separating their portions of the disputed region. At least nine civilians were killed.

Indian officials said the flare-up left five villagers, including one child, dead and 35 injured on the Indian side of the border. The Pakistani army reported four civilians killed on its side, including two children, and three injured.

Monday’s violence — one of the worst violations of a 2003 cease-fire between India and Pakistan — followed several meetings between the commanders of the two countries’ border forces aimed at calming tensions. Two of the three wars between the nations have been fought over their competing claims to Kashmir, though the 2003 cease-fire has largely held despite small but regular skirmishes.

The top leadership of both countries need to check their collective testosterone at the door of a conference building, and have the door locked behind them, until an understanding is reached which prevents any more bloodshed from happening.

Hafiz Saeed dares US to take him out like Osama

Ahead of key vote, Pak's Gilani offers to resign

On what seems to be a an action packed day in Pakistan, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who offered to resign, hours after being served a contempt notice by the apex Court, is slated to face a confidence vote on Monday.

Today is the vote on a resolution that seeks endorsement and support for "efforts made by the political leadership for strengthening democracy" and calls for reposing "full confidence and trust" in the leadership.

The Supreme Court, meanwhile, has also ordered the PM to appear before the court for failing to pursue long running corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari and other officials.
