Specifically, over 160 monitors from the Arab League – comprised of both allies and mortal enemies of Syria – toured Syria and published a report on January 27th showing that the situation has been mischaracterized.
Initially, the report noted general cooperation by the Syrian government.

WASHINGTON — A feared wave of homegrown terrorism by radicalized Muslim Americans has not materialized, with plots and arrests dropping sharply over the two years since an unusual peak in 2009, according to a new study by a North Carolina research group.

But read the final paragraphs of the Reuters article, where the perception is shifted to that of Iran striking US bases and the US having to fire back in "self defence".

We were able to locate the UPI story on another website (dated February 3, 2012), which says that Monsanto is leaving Britain due to opposition against GMO crops and that it is selling off its crop-breeding centers in France, Germany and the Czech Republic.
The UPI story may have been based on an article published by the Daily Mail in 2003 that states only the GMO wheat growing operations would be closing in the UK, France, Germany and the Czech Republic, citing government research about contamination concerns. As NaturalNews reported, the Daily Mail was actually displaying the published date as February 2, 2012:

Of course, the 2003 blackout was not caused by a cyber attack, but a cyber attack makes a great cover story for a national power grid that has decayed to the point of collapse, along with nuclear reactors that have reached the end of their useful lives and are also facing "involuntary shutdowns" (as just happened in San Onofre). Or, a cyber blackout may be the much-ballyhooed false-flag attack to be blamed on Iran. If Israel's Stuxnet virus made it all the way to Fukushima then it is a given it is all over the United States by now. So, yank the power, blame Iran for it, keep the power off so that the bloggers cannot call attention to the obvious falsehoods being shouted through the battery operated radios and TVs, and kick off the next war for Israel that way!

In response to the original complaints, the BBC executive argued (pdf)
that BBC Radio 1Xtra and the BBC as a whole had a duty to be impartial. In this instance, the production team felt that Mic Righteous was expressing a political viewpoint which, if it had been aired in isolation, would have compromised impartiality.

A flyer designed by the FBI and the Department of Justice to promote suspicious activity reporting in internet cafes lists basic tools used for online privacy as potential signs of terrorist activity. The document, part of a program called “Communities Against Terrorism”, lists the use of “anonymizers, portals, or other means to shield IP address” as a sign that a person could be engaged in or supporting terrorist activity. The use of encryption is also listed as a suspicious activity along with steganography, the practice of using “software to hide encrypted data in digital photos” or other media.

What would Iran hope to gain by an attack on the US? Iran is smart enough to know that the American people are weary of war and know that stories of Iran's nuclear threat are no more real than the stories of Iraq's nuclear threat. All an attack would do is anger the American people against Iran and Iran knows better than to do that. So any attack that happens will be a false-flag attack, staged by the US or Israel to be blamed on Iran, similar to when Israel attacked the USS Liberty and initially tried to blame Egypt for it.

Like millions of others, my wife and I have been enjoying the PBS Masterpiece series, "Downton Abbey."
Set in an English Manor House during World War One, the costume drama depicts the prevalent attitude to the war: that a man's virility and honor are measured by his willingness to sacrifice his life for his country.
There is no questioning the necessity of this war, or that it may be a sinister ruse.
In fact, the only character who is cynical about the war is the villain, Thomas, who engineers a minor injury to escape service.
Twitter just announced that it has set up the ability to block content on a country specific basis (e.g., if Germany demanded some content be taken down, Twitter can now just have that content blocked in Germany). I know some people saw this and got upset about "censorship!" but looking at the details, it actually looks like Twitter is doing a smart thing here. You could argue that the proper response would be to stand up to local governments and say, "sorry, we don't block anything" -- and I'd actually have sympathy with that response. But the truth is that if a government is demanding censorship, then Twitter is likely going to have to comply or face complete blocking.
The information in the report comes from interrogations of 4000 arrested Taliban fighters and terrorists. It states that the fighters are often hiding out in areas where NATO soldiers are stationed. As soon as they leave, the Taliban take over, assisted by the Afghan army and police.
According to the report the Taliban are convinced that after the departure of the US-led international force in Afghanistan they will come back to power again.

According to the NATO report the influence of the Taliban grows in areas when soldiers of the NATO peacekeeping force ISAF leave. Then, Afghan security forces make no effort to stop the Taliban. In some cases, the Taliban have the active support of the Afghan army and police, the report said.
