Human Rights Watch alert over Yemen 'climate of fear'

The Yemeni government has created a "climate of fear" in the south of the country and has unlawfully killed civilians, campaigners say.

New York-based Human Rights Watch has released a report accusing the government of human rights abuses against a secessionist movement there.

"Yemenis have to learn a lesson from what had happened in Iraq and Somalia," Mr Saleh said in May this year.

Remember; this is the same government (that of "President for Life" Ali Abdullah Selah, that the US is supporting with US airstrikes against the rebels, and "advisors" being dispatched to train the Yemen military.

President Saleh's threat to his countryman about having to "...to learn a lesson from what had happened in Iraq and Somalia" has come true, thanks to US intervention in this country.
