Early on, the Syriza leadership, headed by Alexis Tsipras, adopted several strategic positions with fatal consequences – in terms of implementing their electoral promises to raise living standards, end vassalage to the ‘Troika’ and pursue an independent foreign policy.

Six Nigerian Central Bankers Arrested In Currency Rigging "Mega Scam"

According to Bloomberg, six Nigerian central bankers were charged with fraud in an 8 billion naira ($40.2 million with an m, not a b, not a tr) currency "scam." South Sudan expels UN humanitarian coordinator

South Sudan has decided to expel the world body's top humanitarian official based in the conflict-torn nation, according to the UN, which called on the government to immediately reverse its decision.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the move by the Juba government to expel the UK's Toby Lanzer, deputy head of the UN Mission in South Sudan as well as its humanitarian coordinator, the UN said in a statement.

"The secretary-general calls on the government of South Sudan to reverse its decision immediately," the statement said.

Such Golden Silences and bypassing of inconvenient sources is incompatible with honest journalism but is standard operating procedure in mainstream journalism, with variations mainly in severity and depth of burial of the awkward facts. These latter are often not completely hidden but put so deep in an article and in such cautious or qualifying language as to be effectively buried or suppressed.

Libya is on the verge of economic collapse as rival factions haggle over a political settlement, the United Nations special envoy said on Thursday.

Bernardino Leon, who has been trying for months to broker an agreement on a national unity government for Libya, said the United Nations was preparing a new draft of a possible political agreement which it hoped to give to the feuding parties in the first week of June.

Two governments, one in the east, the other in Tripoli, are fighting for control of the North African state four years after leader Muammar Gaddafi was ousted.

Leon said that in the last round of talks in Morocco, the rival groups had agreed on 80 percent of an accord and negotiators were working on the remaining 20 percent, which was the most difficult part.

Spain Makes US Rapid Force at Moron Base Permanent

The Spanish government approved an accord Friday permanently granting the U.S. military a presence at a southwestern base as a center for a rapid reaction force to deal with crises in Africa and elsewhere.

The deal approved by Spain's Cabinet allows for the U.S. to station up to 3,000 troops at the Moron air base, up from a current 850. The number of aircraft deployed can be increased from 14 to 40.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is to visit Madrid on Sunday and Monday to sign the agreement. Kerry will meet with King Felipe, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia Margallo during his stay.

Under a 1988 bilateral agreement, accords permitting U.S. presence at the base have been renewed annually. The new agreement needs to be approved by Spain's Parliament.

Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria said the rapid reaction force was aimed at contributing to stability in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

EU Steps Up Police and Military Operations against Refugees after Special Summit

Following an official moment of silence “in remembrance of the dead in the Mediterranean,” the leaders of the EU member states reached an agreement on the “ten point plan on migration” that the foreign and interior ministers had prepared on Monday. Its chief aims are to escalate police and military operations against refugees while laying the foundations for a massive military intervention in Africa.

The strategy of the EU is murderous in two respects. After the European powers, in league with Washington’s war policy in Africa and the Middle East, destroyed entire societies, they made the conscious decision to let refugees drown to keep them out of Europe.

The war against refugees will now be intensified. The European elite has responded to the chaos in Africa, which they themselves created, and the mass deaths in the Mediterranean exclusively with police and military means. This underscores the reactionary character of the EU and its institutions.

Europe and the US have created the conditions in Africa where dangerous, life-threatening immigration may be the only way out; and yet, these Africans have no way out, courtesy of the EU's response.

Of course, there is one other way of curbing the African population rather than immigration: the forced sterilization of African women via vaccine jabs, as has happened with women in Kenya As reported at, 16 April 2015:

I am almost willing to bet that in other countries in Africa, which contain a great embarrassment of riches the US and Europe are working to rapidly exploit, this has been, or will be, tried.

However, that being said, is painfully obvious that to come to this decision at the EU, every single contributor to this policy has had their conscience surgically removed.

Since the beginning of the year, at least 1,700 people attempting to immigrate to Europe have died in transit, 50 times the number for the same period last year.
