WHAT REALLY HAPPENED | The History The US Government HOPES You Never Learn!

My apologies for the confusion. I had been given to understand my radio show would be live today, then off Christmas and Friday, but apparently the majority of the other GCN hosts wanted today off as well, and so we are doing replays until the end of the week.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said 'Stop! don't do it!' 'Why shouldn't I?' he said. I said, 'Well, there's so much to live for!' He said, 'Like what?' I said, 'Well...are you religious or atheist?' He said, 'Religious.' I said, 'Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?' He said, 'Christian.' I said, 'Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?' He said, 'Protestant.' I said, 'Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?' He said, 'Baptist!' I said, 'Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist church of god or Baptist church of the lord?' He said, 'Baptist church of god!' I said, 'Me too! Are you original Baptist church of god, or are you reformed Baptist church of god?' He said, 'Reformed Baptist church of god!' I said, 'Me too! Are you reformed Baptist church of god, reformation of 1879, or reformed Baptist church of god, reformation of 1915?' He said, 'Reformed Baptist church of god, reformation of 1915!' I said, 'Die, heretic scum,' and pushed him off." -- Emo Phillips

Time Is Running Out

The bailout package that is about to be rammed down Congress' throat is not just economically foolish. It is downright sinister. It makes a mockery of our Constitution, which our leaders should never again bother pretending is still in effect. It promises the American people a never-ending nightmare of ever-greater debt liabilities they will have to shoulder. Two weeks ago, financial analyst Jim Rogers said the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made America more communist than China! "This is welfare for the rich," he said. "This is socialism for the rich.

WASHINGTON - Key Republicans and Democrats reported agreement in principle Thursday on a $700 billion bailout of the financial industry and said they would present it to the Bush administration in hopes of a vote within days.

Emerging from a two-hour negotiating session, Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., the Banking Committee chairman said, “We are very confident that we can act expeditiously.”

Treasury Pulled the Number Out of Thin Air

You know the $700 billion price tag of the proposed bailout? Treasury pulled that number out of thin air.

As Forbes writes:

In fact, some of the most basic details, including the $700 billion figure Treasury would use to buy up bad debt, are fuzzy.

"It's not based on any particular data point," a Treasury spokeswoman told Forbes.com Tuesday. "We just wanted to choose a really large number."

Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has shed light on his views about the Holocaust in an interview with CNN's Larry King Live.

In a recorded Tuesday interview with the renowned TV host, President Ahmadinejad said that Zionism blocks research on the Holocaust.

“They (Zionists) don't allow anyone to freely discuss the historical events that happened. They just say this is our account of history, this is what happened and everybody else must just accept it,” said Ahmadinejad.

Wall Streets Trillion Dollar Swindle

"The system is at the breaking point, and despite Wall Street's elation from the proposed $1 trillion dollar bailout to remove toxic mortgage-backed debt from banks balance sheets, the market is still correcting in what has become a vicious downward cycle. Palestine: From bad to wretched

The World Bank made no secret of the fact that Israeli restrictions are largely to blame, as poverty rates in the Gaza Strip have soared to 79.4% and in the West Bank to 45.7%. It concluded that "with a growing population and a shrinking economy, real per capita GDP is now 30% below its height in 1999 ... With due regard to Israel's security concerns, there is consensus on the paralytic effect of the current physical obstacles placed on the Palestinian economy."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel keeps talking about wanting peace, but what they really want is territory. Unless viable boundaries for a Palestinian state are established soon, Palestinians will have a state barely the size of a postage stamp.

The Iraq war could cost US its financial system

The US has shot its financial bolt in Iraq, which may cost the country its financial system. It quite simply no longer has the money to stop a run on banks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If Bush wants to talk candidly about his "legacy" to this country and the world, this is a big part of that legacy.

Somehow, the words "colossal, consistent disasters on Bush's watch" seem very mild compared to the actual carnage - at every level - in which this administration has indulged.

Fiat Government By Presidential Proclamation

Democracy is a time-consuming affair because the governed need to be involved in every major decision; this was designed to take place in open hearings throughout the congress, with input being filtered from the pubic through their 'representatives. Not any longer! Since we became a fascist police state, all of that has become passé.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We know when Bush is lying; he opens his mouth and he speaks.

This bill, if passed, will demonstrate very clearly to even the most foggy-headed of voters that congress no longer represents the will of their constituents. They are simply assets of the corporations which have acquired them.

At approximately seven to nine thousand dollars per taxpayers (perhaps much more - we still have no idea of the full extent of the damage), this bill will privatize the profits for the very rich, but socialize the debt and deficit the middle class and the poor.

This is not the workings of a truly democratic republic; These are the workings of a fascist state.

Peres: U.S. has no choice but to save world from Ahmadinejad

The United States has no choice but to save the world by stopping Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President Shimon Peres told Israel Radio on Thursday.

The president said Ahmadinejad was a passing phenomenon who will disappear "like a gust of wind," Israel Radio reported. Peres added that Ahmadinejad's statements against Israel and the West only serve to unite the entire world against Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Shimon Peres: YES, thank you very much, the US does have a choice to not attack Iran in Israel's behalf.

This country has bleed money and blood to "neutralize" your former enemy Iraq, which you - and this administration - assured the world had "weapons of mass destruction ", which they absolutely did not.

The American taxpayer is very tired of financially supporting these wars without end, which never appear to result in peace, but simply more carnage. We have had enough.

And we shall look with great suspicion at any attempt to stage a "false flag" operation to dupe this country's leadership into a war against Iran in the waning days of this administration. Don't even think about going there.

So, President Peres, if you think that Ahmedinejad and the country's (peaceful) nuclear power program are existential threats to the existence of Israel, go ahead, bombs away.

But this is your fight, not ours.

And by the way; have you had a chat with Medvedev and/or Putin recently about just what they intend to do if one of their largest trading partners gets hit militarily by anyone?!?

That would probably be a really good conference call to make right the heck about now, if Israel intends on executing a unilateral strike against Iran

Vulture Investors Making Plans to Snag Weak Banks on the Cheap

As they try to make sense of how a government bailout would play, vulture investors are combing through balance sheets of possible targets that could run into trouble if banks start calling back loans to businesses and the economy worsens.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In other words, it's already KNOWN that the bailout is going to make matters worse, the "gamblers" are all lined up to try the newest game in town once the losses from the last trip to the casino get dumped on the taxpayers.

Behind this is another reality. As the assets come through the bailout plan, those with any worth or chance of return will get snapped up at firesale prices while those left in the hands of the taxpayers will be the dregs of the dregs, again putting the lie to the claim that somehow the taxpayers will make a profit out of this $700 billion (and counting) ripoff down the road.

US Navy reinforces presence in Afghanistan

ON BOARD OF THE USS RONALD REAGAN, GULF OF OMAN // The US military has begun reinforcing its presence in Afghanistan weeks ahead of an expected troop build-up amid reassurances that efforts to avoid civilian casualties will be redoubled.

This month, George W Bush, the US president, said he would be sending an additional 4,500 soldiers to Afghanistan while pulling 8,000 US troops from Iraq as a result of the security gains there.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Take a good look at a map.

Whatever these naval planes are doing, we're talking about a millions of dollars' worth of jet fuel to fly whatever missions are being flown into Afghanistan.

Note, also, how close the Gulf of Oman is to Iran.

One has to wonder, with the US economy in such a mess, just how desperate this US administration is to start a war - any war - in order to deflect from the worsening economy.

The Creation of the Second Great Depression by Ron Paul

The claim that the market caused all this is so staggeringly foolish that only politicians and the media could pretend to believe it. But that has become the conventional wisdom, with the desired result that those responsible for the credit bubble and its predictable consequences – predictable, that is, to those who understand sound, Austrian economics – are being let off the hook. Is a U.S.-Approved Coup Under Way in Bolivia?

On Monday, Sept. 15, Bolivian President Evo Morales arrived in Santiago, Chile for an emergency meeting of Latin American leaders that convened to seek a resolution to the recent conflict in Bolivia. Upon his arrival, Morales said, "I have come here to explain to the presidents of South America the civic coup d'etat by governors in some Bolivian states in recent days.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As reported on 13 September 08 in Global Research (http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=10187)

"He (Goldberg) presented his credentials before President Evo Morales on October 13, 2006; but three months before his arrival in Bolivia, when he was still in Pristina fulfilling his role as head of the US mission in Kosovo, it was already being said that the new US ambassador designated by George Bush for this Andean country, Philip Goldberg, would come to take part in the separatist process that was being cultivated in the background to pierce the Bolivian regime.

On July 13, 2006, the journalist for El Deber of Santa Cruz, Leopoldo Vegas, published a report indicating that "in the view of three political scientists interviewed after learning about the White House's decision, the experience acquired by Goldberg in eastern Europe which produced ethnic conflict after the separation of the former Yugoslavia can be used in Bolivia, using as an opportunity the changes that the government itself is trying to introduce."

Credit Is Flowing, Sky Is Not Falling, Don’t Panic

Although certain financial institutions are undeniably in deep trouble—difficulties of their own making, we might add—the problems in particular financial circles should be kept in perspective. Note especially that credit markets in general have NOT ceased to operate. Moreover, lenders are extending credit in historically great amounts.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is plenty of credit. What we NEED are the return of the high-paying jobs we used to have to make the payments on our debt. Not only does the bailout not address this necessity, but sucking another trillion out of the private sector will put added downward pressure on wages and salaries. Even as Wall Street has an stockgasm in anticipation of unimpeded access to our wallets, unemployment has hit a 7-year high in the United States.

US finds emboldened Russia holding the cards

The U.S. has found an emboldened Russia wielding enormous leverage at a critical stage in disputes over the Iranian and North Korean nuclear programs, a once-promising partnership with Moscow in doubt.

After a month of bitter exchanges over Russia's war with Georgia, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice came face-to-face Wednesday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and discovered Moscow's cooperation on Iran and North Korea may no longer be a sure thing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The fact that Secretary Rice would find a hardening of Russia's positions on North Korea and Iran surprising just boggles the mind.

That she could possibly think, as a rational human being, that Russia would embrace the US views on these issues after the US raked Russia over the coals for their response to the colossally stupid Georgian invasion of South Ossetia, defies imagination.

And of course, this article never mentions that Russia's invasion of Georgia was in response to Georgia's invasion of South Ossetia.

Since the market is presently inactive – indeed "frozen" – and since the US firms active in trading mortgage backed assets are failing, the real possibility exist to simply take over and assume control of operations in exchange for infusion of equity for these firms which will make available the illiquid MBA's for control and disposition by Paulson under the plan now being created.

Iraq has been ranked by Transparency International(TI) as one of the world's most corrupt countries, just above Somalia as the "least clean" state.

The index is based on perceptions of public sector corruption in 180 countries and territories.

The high levels of corruption amount to a humanitarian disaster said Huguette Labelle, chair of the watchdog.

At the bottom of the transparency table, along with Somalia and Iraq, are Burma, Haiti, Afghanistan and Sudan.

McCain Campaign Running Alaska While Palin Campaigns

The McCain campaign is speaking for the Alaska state government these days, especially when it wants to ensure that nothing embarrassing about Gov. Sarah Palin emerges before Election Day.

They have clamped down on information flowing out of state government, especially when it comes to the so-called Troopergate investigation. The inquiry centers on whether Palin abused her power by firing the public safety commissioner after he refused to fire her ex-brother-in-law, a state trooper. The McCain group even attached a "truth squad" moniker to Troopergate news conferences this week.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The McCain campaign must be terrified that something unsavory is about to drop before the election, if they're handling her communications this way.

What are they so afraid the American people might learn about Palin, and her decision-making processes?

FLASHBACK - Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime

Even though predatory lending was becoming a national problem, the Bush administration looked the other way and did nothing to protect American homeowners. In fact, the government chose instead to align itself with the banks that were victimizing consumers.

Shortly after Eliot Spitzer wrote this article, his career was destroyed in the media with the exposure of his connections to the Emperor's Club VIP. Even at the time, it was obvious that a double standard was in play, because the same media that continued to downplay sexual misadventures of government elites (including the Deborah Palfrey clint list) made a point of plastering Eliot's face all over the place.

Bush to address nation tonight on economy woes

Webmaster's Commentary:

I can tell you already what Bush is going to say.

They cannot get the votes in Congress to vote through this bailout package. So Bush is going to try to persuade you what a really neat-o keen idea this is to give $700 billion (minimum) of YOUR money to Paulson to hand out to Wall Street any way he sees fit.

Bush is going to talk about sacrifice (yours) to save the investors in the banks (his family and cronies) and how this is all good for America. He may even be desperate enough to flog 9-11 one more time and claim its really the terrorists who have tried to bankrupt the nation.

Then Bush is going to ask that Americans call their Congressmen to urge a yes vote on the bailout.

FOLLOWING THAT, THE FAKE PHONE BANKS RUN BY PUBLIC RELATIONS FIRMS WILL GO INTO OPERATION TO FLOOD CONGRESSIONAL OFFICES WITH PHONE CALLS AND FAXES IN SUPPORT OF THE BAILOUT. And the only thing that will stop this swindle from working is for YOU to keep calling, FAXing, and visiting your congresscritters' offices over and over and over again.

Let the House of Cards Tumble!

Question: What should you do when your good friend parties too hard one night, downs more alcohol than is thought humanly possible, generally makes a reckless ass of himself in his inebriation, and wakes up the following morning with a hellish hangover and confused guilt over what transpired before?

Solution: you let them sit it out and suffer.

I ghost-wrote letters to the editor for the McCain campaign

The assignment is simple: We are going to write letters to the editor and we are allowed to make up whatever we want -- as long as it adds to the campaign. After today we are supposed to use our free moments at home to create a flow of fictional fan mail for McCain. "Your letters," says Phil Tuchman, "will be sent to our campaign offices in battle states. Ohio. Pennsylvania. Virginia. New Hampshire. There we'll place them in local newspapers."

FLASHBACK - Officials Reject More Oversight of Hedge Funds

The Bush administration said Thursday that there was no need for greater government oversight of the rapidly growing hedge fund industry and other private investment groups to protect the nation’s financial system.

Instead, the administration, in an agreement it reached with the independent regulatory agencies, announced that investors, hedge fund companies and their lenders could adequately take care of themselves by adhering to a set of nonbinding principles.

URGENT! Worst piece of legislation ever -- contact your representatives

The $700B bailout of Wall Street crooks is the biggest legislative scam ever, and it is being perpetrated by Wall Street and the Fed. Listen folks, THIS IS THE BIGGEST SINGLE MONEY GRAB OF OUR MONEY EVER -AND- THE BIGGEST POWER GRAB BY THE FED, THE TREASURY, AND WALL STREET!! They are using scare tactics to push this through without discussion, the same as they did with the Patriot Act.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Call or visit your congresscritters DIRECTLY. Don;t use one of the many websites that have popped up in the last 48 hours that promise to express your displeasure with the click of a mouse button. Most of these are FAKE, created by public relations firms working for Wall Street. Their purpose is to conceal your anger from Congress and your messages will go no further than the web page itself.

Go to congress.org, get the phone number or address of your congresscritter and go pound on the walls to let them know how angry you are, and more to the point, how much more angry you will BE if the bailout passes!

Tell them you are voting against all incumbents if the bailout passes. Tell then you don't care if they personally vote for or against it. If Bush can wipe out an entire country for the crimes of "Al Qaeda" then it is reasonable for We The People to wipe out all of Congress for the crimes of the greedy bastards.

Some bankers would lose jobs. They’re not in any tremendous danger in most cases, and there simply isn’t a financial crisis on their end."

Commentary: Bailouts will lead to rough economic ride

For years they thought the economy was booming, growth was up, job numbers and productivity were increasing. Yet now we find ourselves in what is shaping up to be one of the most severe economic downturns since the Great Depression.

Unfortunately, the government's preferred solution to the crisis is the very thing that got us into this mess in the first place: government intervention.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US Government CREATED this mess by borrowing heavily, then giving tax credits to corporations to make it easier to ship high paying manufacturing jobs overseas. Maybe it was intentional. Maybe they are just that stupid. Either way, it is time for the tar and feathers.

Homeschooling Banned in California as State Turns Parents Into Criminals for Teaching Their Own Children

The court overturned a lower court's finding that homeschooling did not constitute a violation of child welfare laws.

Israel slams 'absurd' Iran bid for Security Council seat

Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said on Wednesday that giving Iran a seat on the UN Security Council would be "absurd" given the insecurity its policies have caused.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You mean like invading its neighbors? No, wait, Iran doesn't do that; Israel does. Okay, building nuclear weapons in secret. No, hang on, Iran isn't doing that either; Israel is, at Dimona. Okay, then how about how Iran treats it minorities? No, that doesn't work, Jews are treated so well in Iran they refuse to move to Israel, while Israel treats the Palestinians pretty much the way the Nazis treated everyone else.

Just what policies make it absurd for Iran to be in the UN? as opposed to those of Israel?

JFK tried to strip the Federal Reserve Bank of its power to loan money to the government at interest

U.S. Troops In Homeland “Crowd Control” Patrols From October 1st

U.S. troops returning from duty in Iraq will be carrying out homeland patrols in America from October 1st in complete violation of Posse Comitatus for the purposes of helping with “civil unrest and crowd control” - which could include dealing with unruly Americans after a complete economic collapse.

Online critics take aim at $700 billion financial bailout proposal

The online skepticism--or, in some cases, outright condemnation--seems to be mirrored on Capitol Hill.

Shooting in FInland - blame the guns and the internet?

Gun ownership in Finland is among the highest in the world, but crime rates are low.

Today Finland is questioning both its gun laws and its policing of the internet.

'The Web cannot be held responsible for this, but you can certainly ask how much the Web feeds the dark side of human nature,' the paper said in an editorial.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is no "but." Crime rates are low BECAUSE there are so many guns in the hands of law abiding citizens. Switzerland is the same way. Studies in the United States confirm the same thing here.

Only organized crime and dictators want to take guns away from the ordinary people.

As for the shooting in Finland, rather than blame the guns and punish the entire population for the crimes of one man, dare we ask how this guy could show symptoms of mental problems for 6 years and nobody thought to intervene?
