How would America and Americans react if we were under a foreign military occupation. Them saying it was the will of their god to do it would hardly find an accepting ear. Oh "god" told you to kill my children and demolish my house, oh well in that case it's oK.... Not going to happen.

Civilian houses and medical centres targeted by Israeli air-strikes

Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have been ongoing through the night, with civilian houses and medical centres being targeted by Israeli air-strikes.

Last night thousands of Palestinian residents of Gaza were subjected to calls from the Israeli Ministry of Defence saying that "any house that has guns or weapons will be targeted next without further warning or any announcement"

Webmaster's Commentary:

The IMD's announcement about "any house that has guns or weapons will be targeted next without further warning or any announcement" can be translated as follows;

"No matter if your house has guns or not, it has become fair game for complete destruction, as well as the destruction of any and all inhabitants".

Israeli troops near Gaza, airstrikes continue

Israeli warplanes pressing one of Israel's deadliest assaults ever on Palestinian militants dropped bombs and missiles on a top security installation, smuggling tunnels and dozens of other targets across Hamas-ruled Gaza on Sunday.

Israel called up 6,500 reserve soldiers and moved tanks, infantry and armored units to the Gaza border for a possible ground invasion. Some 280 Palestinians died in the first 24 hours of the campaign against Gaza rocket squads.

Northcom Combat Team Conducts “Humanitarian Support” Exercise in Maryland

On October 1, 2008, the U.S. Army announced its 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team will be under the day-to-day control of the Northern Command, ostensibly “on call” to respond to emergencies and disasters. The recent exercise staged out of the Naval Support facility located at Indian Head, Maryland, is likely only the first of many such exercises that will receive media coverage in order to acclimate the American people to the high profile presence of soldiers on the streets under the control of Northcom.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Humanitarian support", my astrolabe!

Leni Riefenstahl would have been ecstatic over this kind of propaganda.

As reported here, 8 Sept, 2008:

The 1st BCT’s soldiers also will learn how to use “the first ever nonlethal package that the Army has fielded,” 1st BCT commander Col. Roger Cloutier said, referring to crowd and traffic control equipment and nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals without killing them.

“It’s a new modular package of nonlethal capabilities that they’re fielding. They’ve been using pieces of it in Iraq, but this is the first time that these modules were consolidated and this package fielded, and because of this mission we’re undertaking we were the first to get it.”

The package includes equipment to stand up a hasty road block; spike strips for slowing, stopping or controlling traffic; shields and batons; and, beanbag bullets.

“I was the first guy in the brigade to get Tasered,” said Cloutier, describing the experience as “your worst muscle cramp ever — times 10 throughout your whole body.
I’m not a small guy, I weigh 230 pounds ... it put me on my knees in seconds.”

OK, don't you think it's time to deal with the truth about what this program is really designed to do?!?

So please, let's get our heads collectively out of that small, moist, enclosed, and unpleasant place where they've been hiding, and acknowledge that a program teaching soldiers crowd control by encouraging them to taser each other is not the kind of program about protecting We the People; it is about protecting the government and corporations from We the People.>

Analysis: The Hamas army

"Hamas has learned a lot from Hizbullah and has adopted many of the Lebanese group's tactics which were used successfully against the IDF in the Second Lebanon War," one IDF official said.

Across Mideast, thousands protest Israeli assault

Crowds of thousands swept into the streets of cities around the Middle East on Sunday to denounce Israel's air assault on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

From Lebanon to Iran, Israel's adversaries used the weekend assault to marshal crowds into the streets for noisy demonstrations. And among regional allies there was also discontent: The prime minister of Turkey, one of the few Muslim countries to have relations with Israel, called the air assault a "crime against humanity."

More than 230 Palestinians were killed and several hundred others injured Saturday when Israeli warplanes and combat helicopters carried out massive aerial bombing attacks targeting numerous police and security-related buildings throughout the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian officials and spokespersons in both Gaza and the West Bank used epithets such “carnage,” “massacres,” and “war of extermination” to describe the deadly Israeli raids.

The intensity of the bombing, say Gaza citizens, were unprecedented in living memory.

Israel to mount emergency international PR effort in wake of Gaza campaign

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Saturday instructed the Foreign Ministry to take emergency measures to adapt Israel's international public relations to the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip.

Livni instructed senior ministry officials to open an aggressive and diplomatic international public relations campaign, in order to gain greater international support for Israel Defense Forces operations in the Gaza Strip.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to hope that every single one of Israel's foreign ministers on this "charm offensive to defend slaughter" have their diplomatic credentials revoked by the countries with which Israel up to now had relations, en masse, and sent back to Israel in abject disgrace.

I then hope that these countries will make it clear to Israel there there will be no more Israeli governmental representation in their country unless and until they stop this slaughter.

Madoff probe focuses on tax havens

The scandal took a chilling turn last week when Rene-Thierry Magon de la Villehuchet, the co-founder of a firm that lost millions investing with Madoff, was found dead in his New York apartment. Access International Advisors - Magon de La Villehuchet's firm - is understood to have lost $1.5bn in the Madoff affair.

On the same day a New York judge ruled that Madoff's investors would receive no more than $100,000 in cash compensation, no matter how much they lost. The ruling was included in a series of court orders made on 23 December by US bankruptcy judge Burton Lifland.

For the biggest losers in the Madoff scandal, the compensation is a drop in the ocean. Fairfield Greenwich, the investment firm run by Madoff chum Walter Noel, lost $7.5bn in the fraud while womenswear magnate and Madoff mentor Carl Shapiro lost $545m of his personal fortune. Claims for compensation will be restricted to those investors who can prove they sent money to Madoff in the 12 months prior to his arrest on 11 December.

Sanders/Austin Fitts: The Negative Return Economy

Officially, American capitalism is characterised by democracy, opportunity, self-improvement, open and free markets, and constructive regulation for the public good, in short, happiness. Under this construct America has never fought a war of aggression and harbours no designs to do so. Its leaders have the nation’s interests at heart, and its politicians listen to their constituencies. The truth is different. Why the United States is so widely misunderstood is due in part to a controlled educational system and media.

Hollywood's nicer Nazi

This World War II thriller isn't meant to amuse, of course. But what can the viewer do? Confronted by the piratical-looking Cruise, waxing faux-Teutonic, one is simply overcome by involuntary hysteria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This "critic" trashes Valkyrie.

Now, I wasn't planning to see this film myself, as I am sick to death of Hitler and Nazis being shoved at me regular as clockwork by Hollywood, but in reading this "critique" it is obvious that the issue here is not the film and its merits, but rather a knee-jerk reaction to portraying any Nazi as a normal decent human being struggling with a bad government, something that modern-day Americans can certainly relate to. It is the same reaction we saw to the recent exhibition of photographs showing the Germans under Hitler enjoying Christmas. How DARE anyone show the Nazis as anything other than the monsters they have been declared to be. The world can never be allowed to see the Nazis as human beings, crammed into uniforms by an evil leader and sent off on a war of conquest with lies and deceptions. The world can never be allowed to seer that many Germans, including officers, did not agree with and support Hitler.

Hollywood provides a never-ending stream of films about Nazis as monsters. But every time there is a film to show that the German people were not totally supportive of Hitler, it gets panned. Some never get made. Some years back there was a film project about the Order of the White Rose, the group of heroic university students who, in the pre-internet days, printed pamphlets about what Hitler was really up to and threw them from rooftops in the cities to spread the word, until they were caught and executed by Hitler. That film was immediately dropped because of course we can never show the Nazi Germany as other than a nation of total monsters. Certainly we can never show the Germans as nearly identical to Americans in that they both struggle against wars of conquest sold with lies.

After all, if the German people of the 1930s and 1940s are just plain folk, and who did not like Hitler, then the legal case to make the Germans of today pay millions to the Israelis of today begins to unravel. And if we do not have the specter of perfect monsters haunting 20th century Germany, then the monsters living in 21st century Israel lose their political cover!

Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza Strip Imperil Obama's Peace Chances

Israel has been warning for weeks that it would not tolerate regular rocket attacks launched from Hamas-controlled territory in the Gaza Strip, and it has been laying the groundwork for a new offensive with the collapse this month of a shaky six-month cease-fire. Still, the ferocity and scope of yesterday's Israeli attacks, which killed at least 225, appeared to stun Western governments and analysts. Arab countries condemned Israel, and Saudi Arabia urged the United States to intervene to stop the attacks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Western governments and analysts, had they been reading this site once in a while, would not have been "stunned" at all about either the timing, or the ferocity, of this assault.

They would have understood completely that the desired outcomes of the Israeli siege of Gazan Palestinians, through malnutrition and disease, was simply to "soften them up" for "the kill" of an Israeli military assault.

This is obvious as to hardly be worth repeating, except some people didn't get it the first time they saw this phrase here. It was more than a metaphor: it was a truism about what the Israeli government wanted to accomplish.

They would have understood that Israel would do this kind of action right before Obama's inauguration to completely destroy any possibility of a viable peace deal going forward.

What Israel really wants is territory, not peace, and territory by any means necessary; if it really had wanted peace, it could have accomplished that a long time ago.

US holds Hamas 'responsible' for Gaza violence: Rice

The United States holds Hamas "responsible" for the renewal of deadly violence in Gaza after the Islamist group broke its ceasefire with Israel, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Saturday.

An earlier version of Rice's statement was recalled by the State Department and replaced with a slightly adjusted version that expressed Washington's concern about the violence and added an appeal to safeguard innocent lives.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Secretary Rice: Israel broke the cease-fire on 5 November of this year.

The only reason you added that little bit of palaver in your statement about "appeal to safeguard innocent lives" was simply a sop to Israel's infuriated Arab neighbors, upon whom the US depends for oil.

Were there no US dependence on Arab countries for oil, that little bit about "humanitarian concern" would never have appeared in this statement at all.

The US government absolutely doesn't care about how many kids, women, the medically infirm, and the elderly Israel kills, as long as this conflict doesn't spread regionally. That is the only "containment" issue they care about.

Hundreds killed in a series of bloody IOF air raids on Gaza

Israeli warplanes on Saturday launched a series of bloody air raids on the Gaza Strip that left at least 120 people killed and 200 others wounded.

They said that IOF F-16s raided residential neighborhoods in north, central and south of the Gaza Strip, noting that the raids coincided with the students' return to their homes from school.

Jewish, Eastern Europe, Israel, and a sudden operational shut down? WMR found an interesting link: Chais donated to an entity called the Washington Institute in McLean, Virginia, which also received funding from the Monterey Fund of Brooklyn, NY, which lists its address as BEAR STEARNS & CO., 1 METROTECH CENTERN 9TH FL., BROOKLYN, NY 11201-3831. Chais was active in marshaling support for Israel among 18-25 year old Jews in the former Soviet Union (also recruitment for Israeli syndicate and Mossad activities, perhaps?) and fighting pro-Palestinian and pro-Iranian attitudes on U.S. college campuses. In other words, Chais was engaged in blatant political activities disguised as 501(c)3 "educational purposes." Recipients of Chais funds also attacked former President Jimmy Carter, as well as Professors Mearsheimer and Walt over their book "The Israel Lobby." There is a Chais Family Auditorium at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya, Israel.

Herzliya, north of Tel Aviv, is the headquarters for the Mossad. The Madoff Ponzi scheme is smelling a lot more than rotten gefilte fish.

While the scope of civilian casualties in today’s attacks is not yet clear, it is unmistakable that Israel carried out these attacks with F16 fighter jets and missiles provided by the taxpayers of this country. From 2001-2006, the United States transferred to Israel more than $200 million worth of spare parts to fly its fleet of F16’s. In July 2008, the United States gave Israel 186 million gallons of JP-8 aviation jet fuel. The war in Gaza, the bloodshed, killing, destruction and suffering on both sides of the border are the vicious folly of a bankrupt government. At least 140 Palestinians killed in Israeli air raids on the Gaza Strip

IMEMC correspondent in Gaza Rami Al-Meghari says, it appears the Israeli air strike targeted the Palestinian Police headquarters in the central Gaza Strip and a small police outpost nearby.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Again, here is the problem. Israel is not attacking missile launchers. It is attacking the civil infrastructure of a government elected by the Palestinian people. The selection of targets is what gives away that the real agenda is to wreck Gaza rather than to stop the Qassams.

If Israel really wanted the Qassams to stop, they would give the Gazan police the equipment and supplies to hunt down the people shooting the rockets. Instead the Israelis are doing everything they can to make sure the Gazan police are unable to do anything at all. One has to wonder why that is?

Two possibilities:

(1.) The optimistic one is that Barack Obama will be honor his campaign rhetoric and be a champion of the people who elected him. However, to do this, he will have to stay very independent from his DLC right wing and recycled Clinton corporate appointments to date.

(2.) The sadly more realistic scenario is that his appointments to date are an appetizer of the meal to come. In short, we have been snookered again and we're back to the square one of a puppet government of astronomically rich elites.

The Gleiwitz incident

The Gleiwitz incident, sometimes incorrectly referred to as Operation Canned Goods, was a staged attack on 31 August 1939 against the German radio station Sender Gleiwitz in Gleiwitz, Upper Silesia, Germany (since 1945: Gliwice, Poland) on the eve of World War II in Europe.

This provocation was one of several actions in Operation Himmler, a Nazi Germany SS project to create the appearance of Polish aggression against Germany, which would be used to justify the subsequent invasion of Poland.

Al-Qaida, literally "the database", was originally the computer file of the thousands of mujahideen who were recruited and trained with help from the CIA to defeat the Russians.

Former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski told the Senate that the war on terror is "a mythical historical narrative".

Will the U.S Breakup?

Maybe in the short-run. But I believe that - especially now that the illusions that we're in an endless boom economy and that the U.S. is a true democracy following the wishes of its people have started to pop (see this and this) - within the next decade, America will break up, like the Soviet Union.

Why did it take so long for a far-fetched Holocaust memoir to be debunked?

In 2002, I published a book about a man who called himself Binjamin Wilkomirski, the author of Fragments, an acclaimed but, it turned out, bogus Holocaust memoir. Wilkomirski—his actual name was Bruno Doessekker—used my own family history (my great-grandmother was a Wilkomirski) to concoct a Jewish identity for himself.

Multipliers and the Mystery of the Magic Money

The uncontrolled creation of money causes a quick decrease in the value of currency and very rapid hyperinflation (in annual price increases of hundreds or thousands of percent), which can destroy an economy. The United States central bank--the Federal Reserve--can protect against such a calamity by controlling the supply of money. One technique the Federal Reserve uses for controlling how fast (or how slow) the money supply can grow is through a reserve requirement for bank deposits.

Colombia sees 8 million bag global coffee deficit in 09

Global coffee demand should hold through the economic crisis and forecasts show a deficit of 8 million sacks next year, the head of Colombia's National Federation of Coffee Growers told Reuters late Monday.

Gabriel Silva said Colombia, the world's No. 3 coffee producer and a top supplier of high-quality arabica beans, should produce between 11.8 million to 12 million 60-kg bags this year but more in 2009 thanks to rejuvenated coffee crops.

Shuttered bakery reopens, rehires workers

An Ohio bakery shut down in October is bustling again, with 60 eager employees who had expected a Christmas on the unemployment rolls.

Some 300 workers lost their jobs when the Archway cookie factory in Ashland, Ohio, was suddenly closed by the private equity firm that owned it. The workers also were left without benefits like health insurance.

But then Lance Inc., a Charlotte, North Carolina-based snack food company, purchased Archway at a bankruptcy auction. And last week 60 workers were asked to return immediately, with perhaps more coming back in the months ahead.

Hallelujah, Allahu Akbar and Merry Christmas

I watched as suspect after suspect in the case was released, but Mohammad and an Iraqi man were put on trial. I felt at that point there was no hope, though I was still certain of his innocence. A man who knows his wife is in custody and his baby boy with social services can be persuaded to say all kinds of things even without "enhanced interrogation techniques." But not this time. When I heard the news of Bernard Madoff’s arrest, I breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank God, I dodged that bullet” was my first thought. For sure, there was no gloating on my part. Crisis widens appeal of Islamic finance

France is becoming the latest country to woo Islamic banks, which avoided much of the damage from the subprime mortgage crisis by following strict principles laid out in the Quran — as the global financial crisis broadens the appeal of Islamic finance.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Western bankers have made themselves demigods with a combination of usury and legalized state-sanctioned counterfeiting. They attack anyone who represents any threat ot their enslavement of others, whether it is the Islamic system of lending or the re-introduction of fixed worth monetary systems.

And, contrary to the popular myth promulgated by the "Clash of Civilization" aficionados, the prohibition against usury (compound interest) is not confined to the Quran, but is found in the Bible itself. The following are taken from the King James version of the Bible (and I'll bet your pastors never read these to you from the pulpit!)

25 " If you lend money to any of My people who are poor among you, you shall not be like a moneylender to him; you shall not charge him interest.

26 "If you ever take your neighbor's garment as a pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun goes down.

27 "For that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What will he sleep in? And it will be that when he cries to Me, I will hear, for I am gracious. (Exodus 22:25-27)

36 'Take no usury or interest from him; but fear your God, that your brother may live with you.

37 'You shall not lend him your money for usury, nor lend him your food at a profit. (Leviticus 25:36-37)

19 " You shall not charge interest to your brother -- interest on money or food or anything that is lent out at interest.
(Deuteronomy 23:20)

10 Woe is me, my mother, That you have borne me, A man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent for interest, Nor have men lent to me for interest. Every one of them curses me. (Jeremiah 15:10)

7 If he has not oppressed anyone, But has restored to the debtor his pledge; Has robbed no one by violence, But has given his bread to the hungry And covered the naked with clothing;

8 If he has not exacted usury Nor taken any increase, But has withdrawn his hand from iniquity And executed true judgment between man and man;

9 If he has walked in My statutes And kept My judgments faithfully -- He is just; He shall surely live!" Says the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 18:7-9)

13 If he has exacted usury Or taken increase -- Shall he then live? He shall not live! If he has done any of these abominations, He shall surely die; His blood shall be upon him. (Ezekiel 18:13)

17 Who has withdrawn his hand from the poor And not received usury or increase, But has executed My judgments And walked in My statutes -- He shall not die for the iniquity of his father; He shall surely live! (Ezekiel 18:17)

12 "In you they take bribes to shed blood; you take usury and increase; you have made profit from your neighbors by extortion, and have forgotten Me," says the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 22:12)

FLASHBACK: India sets Dec 26 deadline for Pakistan

Islamabad has been denying that they were from Pakistan.

The US made clear to Pakistan that Islamabad will have to deliver on India's demands or else Washington will not be able to stand in New Delhi's way, it said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IN other words, not being able to sell Iran, the new war will be in Pakistan, blocking off China's access to middle east oil. China, for that very reason, has just signed a defense pact with Pakistan, so a US war with Pakistan brings on the next World War.

Another aspect is that both Pakistan and India actually have nuclear weapons and delivery systems. an attack by India must start with a massive bombing mission against the locations of all of Pakistan's nuclear weapons. No doubt Pakistan has been dispersing those launchers and warheads, but also no doubt their forces are totally penetrated by US and Indian intelligence, or India would not be so cocky. But if Pakistan can hide a single warhead and launcher where India and the US do not know where it is, then the invasion is off. Otherwise the mushrooms will start blooming.

Gaza bracing for Israeli military strike

"I will not hesitate to use Israel's strength to strike at Hamas and Islamic Jihad," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in an interview with Al-Arabiya television on Thursday, adding ominously: "We have very great and destructive strength which we do not wish to use."

"I think of the tens of thousands of children and innocents who will be in danger as a result of Hamas's actions," he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

For Olmert to use that phrase in a public statement probably means that the IDF will be going for a "kill them all, God will find His own" approach to the oncoming military assault on Gaza.

Pakistan moves troops toward Indian border

Two intelligence officials said the army's 14th Division was being redeployed to Kasur and Sialkot, close to the Indian border. They said some 20,000 troops were on the move. Earlier Friday, a security official said that all troop leave had been canceled.

An Associated Press reporter in Dera Ismail Khan, a district that borders the Afghan-frontier province of South Waziristan, said he saw around 40 trucks loaded with soldiers heading away from the Afghan border.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Today was the deadline India gave Pakistan to give a clear signal that it is going to crack down on "non-state operatives" within its borders, and turn over suspects India had demanded from them.

This troop Pakistani troop movement doesn't augur well for efforts toward peace in the region, and really puts a hefty crimp on US and NATO activities in the border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

For Obama, huge challenges vs. big assets

Barack Obama will inherit two wars and the worst economic conditions in three generations when he takes the oath of office on Jan. 20. Ironically, that challenge might be a blessing for the president-elect — unemployment is so high and consumer confidence so low that even modest improvements will let him claim progress.
