GOP attacks on American voters turn desperate, ugly and dangerous

The GOP assault on American voters has hit full stride as the economy and John McCain tank in synch.

With just over three weeks until election day, the Republicans have mounted an all-out attack against newly registered voters and the organizations working to sign them up. As many as 75% of these new voters are expected to vote Democratic, but the attacks have also spread to long-established voters as well. Recent calculations show more than a million more newly registered Democrats in Ohio than Republicans.

ACORN Is Not the Nut Here

ACORN has been through some scandals of its own making, but it is currently all over the news because of a pair of absolutely fraudulent and nationally coordinated attacks.

One of these attacks involves accusations of voter fraud. But, of course, "voter fraud" almost doesn't exist, and federal prosecutors have lost their jobs because they couldn't find evidence of its existence to satisfy the Bush White House. In fact, the accusations against ACORN are not about voting, but about voter registration.

Perino Confirms White House Won’t Extend Jobless Benefits, Says People Should Just Find A Job

Snowballing sell-off spreads worldwide

Stock prices careened lower Friday Asia and Europe, extending a stampede of selling that began in on Wall Street a day earlier, deepening a global financial crisis that has defied all efforts to stop it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem is simple.

At a time when the US had record debts, the US Government gave generous tax credits to corporations to make it easier to move high-paying manufacturing jobs to other countries.

People who were making their mortgage payments suddenly found themselves forced to take lower-paying jobs. Payments started being missed.

THAT is the trigger for the collapse.

The US doesn't make anything any more. US Manufacturing, once the envy of the world, is at an all-time low. But rather than address the loss of manufacturing back in the 1980s when the problem was still solvable., the US Government went along with their rich corporate donors, allowing and even encouraging offshoring, and covered it all up with the "service economy" the laughable idea that we could make the nation prosperous by doing each others' laundry for a fee! Instead of making products to make money, we made money the product, and shook it back and forth in the vain hope that it would magically grow all by itself.

The End Of American Capitalism?

The worst financial crisis since the Great Depression is claiming another casualty: American-style capitalism.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Big Lie about capitalism is that everyone can be rich. That was never possible. Capitalism only works when there is an imposed wealth differential. Only a small percentage of people can be allowed to be rich. The vast majority are INTENTIONALLY kept poor to keep them working at the thousands of dull and dreary jobs our society requires. That is the real function of taxes. They are the impoverishment mechanism. Taxes are not collected to fund the government so much as to force you to keep working by preventing the accumulation of wealth within the lower and middle classes. This is why you see so much tax money wasted on foolish endeavors too numerous to elucidate here.

Well, the estimate from (as I recall) the International Monetary Fund is that the global total of derivative contracts outstanding is $1.125 quadrillion, whereas global GDP is about $50 trillion, although both numbers are so big that I couldn't make any sense of them even if I was sober, and being sloshed, I revert to more primitive responses, like screaming in fear and holing up behind the massive blast-proof door of the Mogambo Bunker Of Raging Panic (MBORP).

U.S. Weighs Backing Bank Debt

The U.S. is weighing two dramatic steps to repair ailing financial markets: guaranteeing billions of dollars in bank debt and temporarily insuring all U.S. bank deposits.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Years ago I predicted the day would come when Americans faced a simple choice between two alternatives. Either Americans would cut their losses, stop tossing good money after bad, and let the old regime collapse into the black hole of debt of its own making, or Americans would allow themselves to get sucked down into that abyss with the government.

Take a look at the above quote. Which alternative is happening right now?

Who will stop it?

What Letter Was McCain Referring to?

Both John McCain and Barack Obama took turns during the second presidential debate on Tuesday night claiming credit for having warned of an imminent economic crisis.

The entrance of the United States into the world war on April 6, 1917, was the greatest victory that the American plutocracy has won over the American democracy since the declaration of war with Spain in 1898. The American plutocracy urged the war; shouted for it; demanded it; insisted upon it, and finally got it.

The plutocracy welcomed the war not because it was a war, but because it meant a chance to get a stronger grip on the United States.

What lunacy infected you, the government, to give those tax breaks to corporations to help them move high paying jobs to other countries, without understanding that this affected the workers' ability to pay their mortgages and credit cards?

And now you, the government, the same people that failed to see the inherent conflict between encouraging more debt while getting rid of high paying jobs want to directly run the banks?

Webmaster's Commentary:

A lot of people are writing in asking why I always say it is the PPT when the DOW takes a sudden jump upwards. What else would you attribute this to? The companies being invested in did not suddenly become more profitable. The customers for those companies did not suddenly get cash to buy the products made by those companies. The whole theory behind the rate cut this morning is that Americans would gladly go back to their credit cards and start the holiday shopping season in exchange for the point drop, but this of course does not make sense. Americans do not want to borrow any more money; whet they want are the jobs, clients, and customers that will allow them to make the money to pay off their current debt load. So, As I predicted further down just before the opening bell, the market opened with a brief uptick, then started to slide down again. Now there is a sudden surge upward?

Remember that the GOP is stuck with the economy. Their concern, having failed to hold it all together until November, is to try to make things look as good as possible for the next three weeks. They are totally unconcerned with anything that happens after Nov 5th!

With the DOW as a political banner, gaming the system to drive it up becomes a political exercise. Don't fall for it.
