"There is a distinction between a 'debt discharged' and a debt 'paid'. When discharged, the debt still exists though divested of it's charter as a legal obligation during the operation of the discharge, something of the original vitality of the debt continues to exist, which may be transferred, even though the transferee takes it subject to it's disability incident to the discharge." --Stanek vs. White, 172 Minn.390, 215 N.W. 784

BREAKING: Reports Claim ISIS Just Captured al-Asad Air Base Where 300 U.S. Marines Could Be Trapped

This is a story with various reports flying from multiple directions and it’s hard to get a grasp on exactly what’s happening. What we know at the moment is that ISIS is claiming it has seized control of the al-Asad air base in the Ramadi area of Iraq. According to multiple twitter feeds the Iraqi army has lost contact with its people inside the base. From what we can tell the 300 Marines are on location to train Iraqi military.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And JUST in time to help Obama cram his AUMF through a resistant Congress! Frankly, I was expecting ISIS (nudge nudge wink wink) to blow up the Statue of Liberty or the already-cracked Washington Monument or the due-for-replacement Golden Gate Bridge, but this will do!

UPDATE: Latest reports is that ISIS (nudge nudge wink wink) has been driven back and the Marines are safe.

Cleared Londoner Shaker Aamer marks 13 years in Guantanamo without charge or trial

Saturday, February 14th, marks 13 years since the arrival of British resident Shaker Aamer at Guantanamo Bay, where he has been held without charge or trial ever since.

Mr Aamer, a father of four from London, has been cleared for release under both the Bush and Obama administrations, in a process which requires six government agencies to confirm that he poses no threat. However, he remains imprisoned in Guantanamo, despite repeated requests by the UK Government that he be returned to his family in South London.

The Beta Male – Societal Savior Or Repressed Masculinity?

Western civilization owes a great debt of gratitude to the beta male. Our society is dependent on betas to perform most of the grunt work that keeps the core foundations of society afloat, particularly in regards to infrastructure maintenance. Women (by and large) don’t touch the trade professions in any significant numbers. It’s just not in their biological or social imperative to do such jobs.

But here is an important question we must ask ourselves in 2015. What happens when the beta male has no motivation anymore? They are treated like bovine excrement when it comes to modern dating, marriage, the workforce, you name it. In fact, the only reason they consent to what they do is for certain incentives (adequate income, faithful wife etc), and those incentives just are not there anymore. No-fault divorce and under-employment are rampant, so things are definitely not looking good for men.

People Inflation – A Good Reason To Become ‘Generalists’

People inflation and technological upheaval are some of the primary culprits behind widespread unemployment. It’s time to become generalists again.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The money-junkies do not like generalists. Generalists have too many options. If they get pissed off at being poorly treated at one job they can go do another. Money-junkies prefer everyone to be limited in skills to one ability only, to be a fitted as a cog in a giant economic machine with no freedom to depart and go anywhere else.

Overflow funeral crowd mourns 3 Muslims killed in N.C.

The crowd of more than 5,000 mourners attending the funeral Thursday in Raleigh for three Muslims who were shot to death was so large the services had to be moved from a mosque to a nearby athletic field.

The service for Deah Shaddy Barakat, a 23-year-old dental student, his wife Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21, and her sister Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19, of Raleigh, began after midday Muslim prayers.

The three were killed at an apartment building in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Tuesday in what police say was an apparently long-simmering dispute over a parking space. Police are also investigating whether religious hatred was a factor in the shootings.

Jewish GOPers: Include Jews as threatened group in IS bill

Jewish Republicans want Jews added to a military force authorization bill as one of the minorities threatened by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), the sole Jewish Republican in Congress, told CNN on Thursday that in the wake of the apparent IS affiliation of a terrorist who last month attacked a kosher supermarket in Paris and killed four Jews — whom the terrorist said he targeted because they were Jewish — Jews should be added to the authorization for use of military force under consideration.

Backing his call was the Republican Jewish Coalition.

BBC Admits Peshawar Victim Photo is alleged Sandy Hook Victim Noah Pozner

Yesterday we had two reports about the photo of Noah Pozner, who was reportedly killed at Sandy Hook, being circulated as a victim in the recent Taliban attack in Pakistan. Though the American mainstream media is not covering the story, and seemingly not interested in doing so, the BBC did acknowledge the story with a brief footnote in an article about a child's bloody shoe (which has also been found to be misrepresentative of the attacks). The bloody shoe photo was taken at another place and time.

Here is what the BBC had to say about Noah Pozner's photo:

Meanwhile, another picture has been circulating online of victims of the Peshawar massacre – but the montage of images includes the photo of a young boy, Noah Pozner, who died in the Sandy Hook massacre in the United States in 2012.

Senator "Duped" Into Using Old Photos to Promote New War With Russia

The U.S. Economy Is Dead

For the past quarter century; the most effective “stimulus” for the U.S. economy has been a fall in gasoline prices. This is no great surprise, given that the United States had been the most gas-guzzling nation on the planet – and by a wide margin. But times have changed!

After Barack Obama publicly admitted that the U.S. government had ruthlessly manipulated oil prices lower, as “part of its strategy” of economic terrorism against Russia; global oil prices have been cut in half. The only other time that oil prices have fallen so far or so fast in the last quarter century was the brief/temporary collapse in prices which accompanied the Crash of ’08.

No Demand for Skilled Jobs: “Millions cannot find work because the jobs simply are not there”

As this article points out, the scheme announced by Obama to make community college free will not make America prosperous or fully employed. While have a well educated, skilled and knowledgeable populace is worthwhile, there is already a glut of over-educated degree holders – including many with master’s degrees and other specialized qualifications – who cannot find work in their field.

Why? Because the jobs just aren’t there. America doesn’t do much of anything anymore but consume. More and more skilled jobs are paying wages as low as fast food joints, and are so flooded with applications, that the job may as well not be there. There is too much demand by a workforce for work that isn’t there… so most have lowered their standards, and become adjusted to skating by with low wage, low skilled work when they have already over-achieved in the educational field. Student loans don’t get paid back this way, and the economy doesn’t bounce back either.

Poroshenko After Minsk Talks: Donbas Autonomy, Federalization Not an Option

Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has flatly rejected the idea of granting a broad autonomy to the eastern Donbas region, and of making Ukraine a federation.

The leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany met for 16 hours trying to thrash out a peace roadmap that would ease tensions in Ukraine’s war-torn east.

After the talks it was announced that before this year is out Ukraine would change its constitution to include a clause on decentralization and a special status for the Donbas region.

On Wednesday President Poroshenko said the proposed decentralization program his government was working on had absolutely nothing to do with making Ukraine a federative state.

Webmaster's Commentary:

ABSOFLIPPINGLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE!! This guy completely rejected the agreement he just signed.

Poroshenko has aptly demonstrated that he has no personal or professional credibility whatsoever.

I wonder how much the White House had to do with this turnabout, because they want, and need, a war with Russia; but then again, why should I be surprised if he got a phone call from Obama, threatening him with horrific consequences for going through with the deal?!

After all, there is no personal or professional credibility in the federal government either.

Obama’s Force Authorization is a Blank Check for War Worldwide

Even if our policies led to no boots on the ground, the unintended consequences of blowback and the enemy obtaining more American weapons will continue. The CIA has said that 20,000 foreigners are on their way to Iraq and Syria to join the ISIS. Our government has no more credibility in telling us the truth about the facts that require us to expand our military presence in this region than Brian Williams. Constant war propaganda has proven too often to be our nemesis in supporting constant war promoted by the neoconservatives and the military industrial complex.

It’s my opinion that giving additional authority to wage war in the Middle East is a serious mistake. Instead, the authority granted in 2001 and 2002 should be repealed. A simple and correct solution would be for our elected officials to follow the rules regarding war laid out in the Constitution.

Stopping a Smart TV From Eavesdropping On You Could Be a Felony

To make matters worse, high-level users who want to take their smart TVs apart to see how they work or to attempt to disable or modify the underlying software—for example, to disable the eavesdropping software, or make modifications to make captions easier to read for the visually impaired—could face felony charges under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. That’s because most smart TVs on the market have taken technological measures to prevent users from accessing or modifying firmware in order to prevent illegal copying and distribution of copyrighted material. But users could technically face felony charges for circumventing lockdown restrictions—even if the modifications they’re trying to make are legal under copyright law.

Lawyer moved Halliburton subsidiary bribes through secret Swiss HSBC accounts

A network of secretive banks and offshore tax havens was used to funnel $182 million in bribes to Nigerian officials in exchange for $6 billion in engineering and construction work for an international consortium of companies that included a then Halliburton subsidiary.

BEX ALERT - Cold Air Invasion Coming: What’s the Role of Warming?

The non-stop sucker punches of frigid air also brought to the forefront the idea that global warming could paradoxically be behind them, with Arctic sea ice melt forcing wild dives in the jet stream up in the atmosphere.

RCMP officers acted outside of the law when they conducted warrantless searches and seizures of firearms during the southern Alberta floods of 2013, according to an independent report.

ALL WARS ARE BANKERS' WARS!

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the Earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of a pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the fortunes like mine will disappear, and they ought to disappear, for this world would be a happier and better world to live in. But if you wish to remain slaves of the Bankers and pay for the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create deposits." -- Sir Josiah Stamp, President of the Bank of England in the 1920s, the second richest man in Britain

I know many people have a great deal of difficulty comprehending just how many wars are started for no other purpose than to force private central banks onto nations, so let me share a few examples, so that you understand why the US Government is mired in so many wars against so many foreign nations. There is ample precedent for this.

Russia the world’s last line of defence against Isramerica’s murderous grand design

The world is heading for war. The Isramerican empire is funneling tons of heavy weaponry into Ukraine to provoke Russia into launching a defensive attack, and then that response will be used to justify starting a major war. It is a waste of time trying to find any intelligent discussion in the mainstream corporate media of why the U.S. wants to provoke war with Russia. Its job is to cover up and falsify, not report.

UN: Proven Ties Between ISIS And Israel

In a new report from the UN, it is revealed that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) were maintaining regular contact with members of the so-called Islamic State since May of 2013. Initial reports from the IDF stated that this was only for medical care for civilians, but that story fell apart when the UN observers identified direct contact between IDF forces and ISIS soldiers, including giving medical care to ISIS fighters. Observations even included the transfer of two crates from the IDF to ISIS forces, the contents of which have not been confirmed at this time. Further the UN report identified what the Syrians label a crossing point of forces between Israel and ISIS, a point of concern brought before the UN Security Council. This report from the UN strengthens the claims by the Syrian regime that Israel is heavily involved in operations within the nation.

Israel backers celebrate death of Islamic State hostage Kayla Mueller

Hardline supporters of Israel are expressing joy over the death of 26-year-old humanitarian aid worker and sometime Palestine solidarity activist Kayla Mueller, who was killed while in captivity of Islamic State last week.

Islamic State (also variously abbreviated as IS, ISIS or ISIL) claimed that Mueller died in a Jordanian airstrike in Syria coordinated with the United States.

Although it has yet to verify the circumstances, the US government on Tuesday confirmed that Mueller was killed, prompting an outpouring of tributes from people around the world lauding her humanitarian activism.

But for Israel’s most hawkish supporters, Mueller’s solidarity work with Palestinians resisting Israeli occupation made her unworthy of sympathy and even deserving of death.

Obama confounds Congress with vague Islamic State war powers request

Confidently declaring that the Islamic State “is going to lose,” President Obama on Wednesday asked Congress for broad yet intentionally vague war powers as he laid the foundation for a three-year military campaign against the terrorist group that ultimately could involve U.S. ground troops.

By leaving a host of unanswered questions with its authorization for use of military force, called AUMF on Capitol Hill, the White House is placing a significant burden on congressional leaders who now must hammer out the details.

The Breaking HSBC Scandal Reveals UK Govt Is Chief Henchman Of The Mafia Banking System

An international collaboration of media outlets have leaked HSBC files which prove the Bank has actively sought to undermine domestic tax laws by hiding more than $100bn in Swiss bank accounts – but what is truly remarkable, it the complicity of the UK government in helping the 1% avoid paying their dues.

Sicilian mafia families have a position in their criminal organisation called the ‘consigliere’. A consigliere is an adviser or counselor to the boss, with the additional responsibility of representing the boss in important meetings both within the boss’s crime family and with other crime families. The consigliere is a close, trusted friend and confidant.

The relationship between the UK government, the HMRC and the banking sector appears to be one of consigliere – with the former providing advice and representation services for the latter, against the interests of the public.

David Cameron was accused of being 'up to his neck' in the Swiss bank account row today, after revelations that a string of Tory donors hoarded money in the country.

In a fiery Commons debate, the Prime Minister insisted 'no-one had done more' than the current government to crack down on tax avoidance.

Germany faces impossible choice as Greek austerity revolt spreads

The political centre across southern Europe is disintegrating. Establishment parties of centre-left and centre-right - La Casta, as they say in Spain - have successively immolated themselves enforcing EMU debt-deflation.
Spain's neo-Bolivarian Podemos party refuses to fade. It has endured crippling internal rifts. It has shrugged off hostile press coverage over financial ties to Venezuela. Nothing sticks.
The insurrectionists who came from nowhere last year - with Trotskyist roots and more radical views than those of Syriza in Greece - are pulling further ahead in the polls. The latest Metroscopia survey gave Podemos 28pc. The ruling conservatives have dropped to 21pc.
The once-great PSOE - Spanish Workers Socialist Party - has fallen to 18pc and risks fading away like the Dutch Labour Party, or the French Socialists, or Greece's Pasok. You can defend EMU policies, or you can defend your political base, but you cannot do both.

‘Politicians can't be trusted to clean up HSBC’: Govt revenue chiefs grilled over tax evasion scandal

Top UK tax officials were probed by MPs on Wednesday over the recent tax evasion scandal that has engulfed British banking giant HSBC. Labour MP Austin Mitchel said Britain’s tax avoidance industry has eclipsed its tax collection industry.

Amid global controversy over HSBC's alleged involvement in industrial scale tax evasion, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) was questioned by Britain’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

On Sunday, it emerged HSBC's Swiss private banking arm had aided royalty, criminals, terrorists, and drug dealers in dodging taxes.

A colossal cache of files leaked to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) shed light on the banking giant's clandestine practices between 2005 and 2007. During this period, HSBC's Swiss private banking arm controlled roughly $100 billion in assets.

Files disclosing the bank’s suspect actions were leaked to HMRC in 2010.

Restore the Bank of Canada

The Bank of Canada, unlike the Federal Reserve in the U.S., is wholly owned by the people of Canada. It was nationalized in 1938 and was used very successfully to fund infrastructure, social programs, education, etc, for the benefit of all Canadians. It was used to bring us out of the depression, funded WWII, to build highways such as the McDonald-Cartier freeway, public transportation systems, subway lines, airports, the St. Lawrence Seaway, our universal healthcare system and our Canada Pension Plan.

Unfortunately, since Canada adopted economist Milton Friedman’s theory of monetarism in 1974 this has not been the case and one can track the progression of the dismantling of Canada since then.

Obama says Putin must abandon 'KGB' mentality to end war in Ukraine

Russian president Vladimir Putin “has a foot very much in the Soviet past”, President Barack Obama said in a pointed interview published on Wednesday, while expressing hope that the Kremlin might still help defuse the crisis in Ukraine.

12 Worst Ideas Religion Has Unleashed on the World

Some of humanity’s technological innovations are things we would have been better off without: the medieval rack, the atomic bomb and powdered lead potions come to mind. Religions tend to invent ideas or concepts rather than technologies, but like every other creative human enterprise, they produce some really bad ones along with the good.

I’ve previously highlighted some of humanity’s best moral and spiritual concepts, our shared moral core. Here, by way of contrast, are some of the worst. These twelve dubious concepts promote conflict, cruelty, suffering and death rather than love and peace. To paraphrase Christopher Hitchens, they belong in the dustbin of history just as soon as we can get them there.

Obama slams Staples, corporations for Obamacare-tied cuts: ‘Shame on them’

President Obama didn’t take kindly to Staples executives who slashed worker hours due to what they said was the need to curtail expense related to Obamacare, saying such corporations can “well afford” to pay.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No, we CAN'T! American businesses were already hovering at the edge of collapse before ACA and the higher costs will and are driving many of them over that edge into bankruptcy and closure. Add the the fact that the Obamacare-compliant health insurance isn't worth the paper it is on which means Americans who have been forced to buy those policies are being driven into bankruptcy by the unpaid portions of their medical bills!

Washington DC and Wall Street are still laboring under the delusion that there is still vast amounts of wealth out here in the heartland and all they have to do is figure out how to scam it out of us all. But the well is dry, the barn is empty, the cookie jar has no more to give.

The U.S. Media and the 13-Year-Old Yemeni Boy Burned to Death Last Month by a U.S. Drone

The U.S. media just got done deluging the American public with mournful stories about the Jordanian soldier, Moaz al-Kasasbeh, making him a household name. As is often the case for victims of America’s adversaries, the victim is intensely humanized. The public learns all sorts of details about their lives, hears from their grieving family members, wallows in the tragedy of their death.

By stark contrast, I’d be willing to bet that the name “Mohammed Tuaiman al-Jahmi” is never uttered on mainstream American television. Most Americans, by design, will have no idea that their government just burned a 13-year-old boy to death and then claimed he was a Terrorist.

Obama Calls Putin to Threaten Him Over Ukraine ‘Aggression’

reparing to head to Belarus for ceasefire talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin had to take a call from President Obama, who threatened to impose “greater costs” on him over his “aggression” in the Ukraine.

Ukraine’s civil war is going increasingly poorly for the US-allied government, and the Obama administration seeks to blame Russia for the gains of the rebels, who are predominantly ethnic Russians.

Isis war to extend far beyond Iraq and Syria under Obama's proposed plan

Sources say White House plan will bless anti-Isis war for three years and ensure that Obama, like George W Bush, will hand over two wars to his successor.

Several congressional sources familiar with the outlines of the proposal, all of whom expected the White House to formally unveil it on Wednesday, told the Guardian the so-called Authorization to Use Military Force (AUMF) would bless the anti-Isis war for three years.

Congressional language to retroactively justify the six-month-old US war against Isis will not, they said, scrap the broad 9/11-era authorities against al-Qaida, as some congressional Democrats had proposed, meaning the two war authorizations will coexist.

Asked if the anti-Isis AUMF opens the US to a second worldwide war against a nebulous adversary, one congressional aide answered: “Absolutely.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The 3 year timeline in this authorization is a lousy "gift" with which to burden the coming administration, and seems to bring about the conditions leading to a perpetual state of war, something which appears to be what both parties want, in the names of those military industrial corporations which support, overtly, and covertly, both parties.
The establishment of perpetual war is a lousy principle from which create foreign policy, and really lousy for We the People.

JON STEWART ~~ ONE LAST DISS AGAINST NETANYAHU BEFORE THEY BOTH BECOME HISTORY

The controversy over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s invitation to speak to Congress, which Democrats see as a Republican ploy to undermine President Obama’s negotiations with Iran, is tragicomic. But the mess of behind the scenes bickering and childish insults are, improbably, threatening both US-Israeli relations and the very delicate international effort to resolve the Iranian nuclear crisis.

So naturally, Jon Stewart is the perfect person to take on this ridiculous mess, which he did during Thursday night’s episode of The Daily Show.

“One of our closest foreign allies is taking sides with Republicans against a Democratic president, which creates a major conundrum for Democrats,” Stewart said. “I’m reminded of a similar situation, faced by an Israeli king renowned for his wisdom.”

Russia and Egypt to establish 'free trade zone' and build nuclear reactor

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has hailed the economic and security relationship between Egypt and Russia, and announced the establishment of a “free trade zone” between Egypt and the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union.

He said it was important to “fight terrorism intellectually” and said there was a need to address the “social issues” that led to it.

Sisi also announced a strengthening of trade relations between the two countries, culminating in a preliminary agreement to create a Russian industrial zone in Egypt, near the Suez Canal. The pair also said that they would set up a nuclear power plant designed to “help Egypt reach its energy needs”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, it looks as though US and European sanctions against Russia's non-existent "aggression" against Ukraine is working beautifully; that is, if you define "beautifully" as pushing Russia economically, geopolitically, and militarily toward China and Eurasia!!

ARMED HOUTHI REBELS SEIZE U.S. EMBASSY VEHICLES AFTER AMBASSADOR, DIPLOMATS LEAVE COUNTRY - LOCAL MEMBERS OF EMBASSY STAFF

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Wrong Move: Adding Nuclear Weapons to the Russia-Ukraine Conflict

You may have missed it, but last month two key members of Congress asked the military to move additional U.S. nuclear weapons and dual-capable aircraft into Eastern Europe.

Reps. Mike Rogers, R-Ala., chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, and Mike Turner, R-Ohio, chairman of the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee, sent a joint letter to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Secretary of State John Kerry advocating the addition of new sites in Eastern Europe for the deployment of additional U.S. nuclear weapons and dual-capable aircraft.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Except for having swallowed the koolaid of Russia having annexed Crimea (which it did not; after the legitimate government in Ukraine was overthrown, Crimea voted to joint the Russian Federation), the argument about NOT adding any more nuclear capable missiles makes absolute and complete sense.

Such a move would be like setting a match to kerosene, geopolitically.

of course, this is precisely what these two Representatives, Roger and Turner want to see happen, in a move to further inflame Russia toward a "hot war" in Ukraine.

Our House of Cards — Paul Craig Roberts and Dave Kranzler

As we have reported on a number of occasions, whenever the price of gold in the futures market starts to rise, massive uncovered shorts are suddenly dumped on the market. As the shorts dramatically increase the supply of future contracts all at once, the supply overwhelms demand, and the price of gold is driven down despite the fact that the demand for gold in the physical market is strong. (Remember, the price of gold is determined in the futures market in which contracts are largely settled in cash and seldom in gold. The physical market is where gold bullion is purchased, not paper claims on gold for speculation.)

The Fraudulent Rise in UK Antisemitism

I have taken the figures from the table on page 42, pictured below. Note how the incidents are broken down into categories. The numbers of incidents are then totalled up arithmetically to produce the annual time series which formed the basis of evidence of a sharp rise in 2014. Let’s first say that there are some blindingly obvious issues with this methodology; for a start it equates an act of “extreme violence” with an act of “abusive behaviour”. That would mean that a year in which 500 Jews were brutally murdered but none insulted would be a “good year” for antisemitism compared to a year in which 1000 were insulted and none murdered. It’s a ridiculous methodology.

Conservatives Dance On Grave Of ISIL Hostage: 'Jew-Hating, Anti-Israel B**ch'

Not all conservatives used the death of American hostage Kayla Mueller to highlight the brutality of the Islamic State — some decided to focus their disgust on the 26-year-old's humanitarian work for Palestinians.

"No tears for the newly-departed Kayla Mueller, the ISIS hostage whose parents confirmed today that she is dead," conservative blogger Debbie Schlussel wrote on Tuesday, under the headline, "Kayla Mueller: Dead ISIS Hostage Was Jew-Hating, Anti-Israel Bitch."

"Mueller was a Jew-hating, anti-Israel piece of crap who worked with HAMAS and helped Palestinians harass Israeli soldiers and block them from doing their job of keeping Islamic terrorists out of Israel," she wrote.

Schlussel condemned Mueller's humanitarian work in the "so-called 'West Bank'" to prevent the demolition of "terrorists' 'houses.'"

Amazon Japan’s Child Porn Problem?

Amazon Japan, the Japanese arm of Amazon, the world’s largest online shopping website, is facing an investigation by the Japanese police on suspicion of aiding and abetting the sale of child pornography on its website—a problem that the company should have known about at least since 2009. In that year, as a member of the NGO Lighthouse (formerly known as Polaris Project Japan), we brought attention to the problem in petitions and emails to the company.

The issue is not about Amazon selling this trash itself, it’s about so-called third-party vendors who showcase the porn on Amazon’s site. But according to its critics, the net result is basically the same: Amazon’s accusers say it is facilitating the sexual exploitation of children.

Discontent with Washington, US states look to nullify federal laws

State legislatures in the US are considering more than 200 bills – from gun rights to marijuana accessibility – that would nullify or work around various federal laws and regulations crafted in Washington, according to a states’ rights advocacy group.

The Tenth Amendment Center told The Hill the 200-plus pieces of current legislation seeking to challenge or wrest control from the federal government mark a climate of both suspicion and empowerment. The center tracks and supports states’ rights initiatives across the country.

“People are becoming more and more concerned about the overreach of the federal government,” said the group’s spokesman, Mike Maharrey. “They feel the federal government is trying to do too much, it’s too big and it’s getting more and more in debt.”

Fed mobilizes against Rand Paul's audit legislation

“This is about interfering with the making of monetary policy. I respect the gentleman from Kentucky, but he’s wrong,” said Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President Richard Fisher on Fox Business Monday evening.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Under the Constitution, only the government has the authority to make monetary policy, not a privately-owned central bank. And because the Constitution does not authorize the delegation of transfer of such authority, it would require a Constitutional amendment to do so. The federal Reserve is hence unconstitutional and the deb owed by the American people to the private central bankers is null and void.

As devoted readers of Paul Krugman know well, there’s plenty of evidence from the last six years indicating that austerity, the idea that the government can best boost the economy by engaging in significant tax hikes as well as spending cuts, simply doesn’t work — at least not in today’s economic conditions. With the U.S. going through a period of significant GDP growth, a decrease in the unemployment rate and a falling deficit, it’s a lesson that holds less salience today than it did in years past. But in the eurozone economy, the application of “expansionary austerity” has been vigorous — and rather unsuccessful.

Employers can’t force measles vaccination

A boss who is worried about an outbreak of measles in the workplace needs to tread lightly.

Reports of a growing number of measles cases have employers wondering what they should be doing. But federal and state laws can limit their ability to require workers to be vaccinated. And it might be risky to even ask employees whether they have had a vaccination for measles or other diseases.

Ban racists from social media, anti-Semitism report says

The All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into anti-Semitism wants prosecutors to examine whether prevention orders like those used to restrict sex offenders' internet access could be used.

The cross-party group also highlighted the use of anti-Semitic terms online.

Last week, a Community Security Trust report said UK anti-Semitic incidents more than doubled to 1,168 in 2014.

Study: Chemotherapy-Treated Cancer Patients Die Sooner than No Treatment at All

If you get cancer, where will you turn for treatment?

Your options are Chemotherapy, which is refused by 75% of doctors, works only 2-3% of the time, and has been shown in a study to cause more cancer, or, you can utilize natural substances found in nature that science has shown are powerful Cancer Cures, with virtually no side effects.

Despite the horrid report card for chemotherapy treatment, people to this day continue to receive treatment, as doctors profit from each patient to whom they deal these toxic drugs.

Consider this article the final, crushing blow to chemotherapy and the cancer industry.
Science Shows the Untreated Live Longer

After studying the life span of cancer patients for 25 years, Professor of Medical Physics and Physiology at Berkeley, California, Dr. Hardin B. Jones delivered a report, sending shockwaves through an American Cancer Society Seminar in 1969.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We not only have a security industrial complex and a military industrial complex; the US has a medical industrial complex as well.

Please, as a consumer, educate yourself about nutrition, supplements, diet, and exercise.

If you do wind up having a health crisis, be the most informed healthcare client you can be; in this arena, knowledge is definitely power.

Australia discontinues water, electricity services for Aboriginals

The Australian government has decided to discontinue the provision of water and electricity supplies to up to 200 indigenous communities, saying it can no longer afford the basic services, delegating it to state governments.

The remote communities, located across the northern tip of Australia and the Kimberley in the country’s northwest, will be deprived of essential services with the decision by the federal government, Vice News agency reported on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Western Australia (WA) state government has said it cannot afford to cover the costs either, estimating that at least some of the 274 communities in the state - perhaps as many as 200 - will have to close.

WA Premier Colin Barnett has, however, announced that cutting water and electricity supplies does not mean the communities will have to close down.

“There is nothing to stop people going on to land,” Barnett said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sorry, Australian government; I have been to Sidney, and loved the city, and the people.

However, these decisions, at both territorial and national levels, reek of the stench of ethnic cleansing against Australia's First People: there is just no other way to say this politely.

Israelis Cry Foul on U.S. Cash Influencing Their Election

In a Tel Aviv storefront, 84-year-old volunteer Zelda Harris is working the phones for the V15 group trying to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. U.S. billionaire S. Daniel Abraham, founder of Slim-Fast Foods Co., is helping to fund the effort.

Across the country, men and women in red jumpsuits hand out free copies of Israel Hayom, a pro-Netanyahu daily. The paper is financed by American gambling tycoon Sheldon Adelson.

Critics are concerned that cash from overseas donors will affect next month’s vote. “I would like to see foreign money out of Israeli politics,” said Hebrew University of Jerusalem political science Professor Menachem Hofnung. “Legally, it would be very difficult to do” because “you can’t stop people from funding certain ideas,” he said.

The law prohibits foreigners and Israelis living overseas from donating directly to candidates’ campaigns in the general election.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh, PLEASE, like Israeli and AIPAC money do not skewer and twist American elections into a pro-Israel direction, even when what is right and good for Tel Aviv is NOT right and good for the American people?!!?

Someone please hand me a bucket: I think I am going to HURL copiously at this hypocrisy!!

Obama still argues that we can't have transparency or the terrorists will win

The Obama administration, self-described Most Transparent Administration in History™, is currently engaged in a multi-pronged legal battle to prevent an iota more transparency related to illegal torture. If there was any lingering hopes that the President might use the last two years of his final term in office to bring some accountability to the despicable actions of the CIA or the US military, it appears that he will instead continue to use the power of the office to fight to keep them hidden.

Later today, the government will showcase its latest suppression effort, as the Justice Department will urge a federal judge in New York to keep secret hundreds of photos of torture from Abu Ghraib prison from almost a decade ago. President Obama once promised to release the photos, only to reverse himself months after coming into office – and he’s since been fighting for years to keep them secret.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Imagine my (absence of) surprise here.

History will ultimately judge President Obama as one of the most profound disappointments of American leadership in the 21st century.

And despite his faux populist persona, he is no less a slave to the global corporate and banking institutions than are his Republican counterparts.

It doesn't matter any more which of the two parties gets elected nationally; what wins is more corporate wealth; more personal wealth inequality; and more wars.

USA TODAY JOINS FORCES WITH CHARLIE

Below is a cartoon, by Cameron Cardow of the Ottawa Citizen, that USA Today selected as its daily editorial cartoon for February 2. It’s not a terribly hard cartoon to parse: Islam is the modern equivalent of Nazism, and threatens a new Holocaust. The cartoon lists entities that have nothing in common with each other aside from their connection to Islam–political movements like Hezbollah and Hamas, who have been the targets of far more violence than they are responsible for, along with groups like ISIS and Boko Haram, terrorist groups whose victims are primarily Muslim. Hezbollah and ISIS are actually engaged in intense warfare with each other.

LOOK THROUGH THE EYES OF A PALESTINIAN TEEN

The short documentary “Khelil Helwa (Hebron is Beautiful)” follows a young boy from Hebron’s Tel Rumeida neighborhood as he goes about his daily life, uncovering the matrix of Israeli military control that defines every aspect of life in the occupied West Bank. For Palestinians, the footage may at first appear somewhat unremarkable, and the scenes of soldiers barking orders and even arresting the film’s 15-year-old star, Awni Abu Shamsiya, are heart-breakingly familiar. But for Israeli-American filmmaker Yuval Orr, it was the hope of showing the footage to Israeli audiences that motivated production.

‘CELEBRATING’ THE NEW YEAR OF TREES IN ISRAEL

This holiday has its origins not in the Bible, but rather in the Mishna, which was written in the early 3rd century CE. It is primarily an agricultural holiday, as evinced by its other name, New Year of Trees.

This holiday is celebrated in the midst of the rainy season (late January or early February). It was originally a holiday with halakhic (Jewish legal) significance, as it was used to mark the age of a tree for the purpose of harvesting and tithing its fruit – tithes that were given to the priests who served in the Temple and did not own any land.

Gen Allen: Iraq’s Anti-ISIS Ground Offensive to Begin Within Weeks

After several months of sort of spinning its wheels in the war against ISIS, retired Gen. John Allen, who’s become sort of the global ambassador to the war, says the Iraqi “ground offensive” will begin in a matter of weeks.

Gen. Allen, whose comments were made to Jordan’s state media, said the coalition intends to provide “major firepower” for the offensive, and that the goal is to “take back Iraq.”

The comments don’t go on to say exactly what this offensive will include, but they certainly give the impression of this being the “big one” which Iraq has been hoping for to try to retake Mosul.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Please take a look at the map on the right hand side of this article.

Mosul, once retaken, would be a perfect staging area for a ground invasion of Syria, under the pretext of "fighting Isis" there.

And General Allen, sir, I have a bone to pick with you: this story should have been in all American outlets, rather than Jordanian outlets, and the coming actions confirmed first.

Bring Back The Bradbury!

Webmaster's Commentary:

'Britain's temporary equivalent to Lincoln's Greenback and Jack Kennedy's Silver backed US Treasury Notes. These Bradbury Pounds were issued at the beginning of World War 1 to prevent a run on the banks and the request most ironically seemed to come from the banks themselves! These 'interest free' notes were issued as a form of 'national credit and were signed by John Bradbury, the then secretary to the Treasury, rather than the chief cashier of the 'Bank of England', Britain's private central bank (it certainly was back then prior to 1946).

They were soon withdrawn after the liquidity crisis was over as it limited the banks from making a healthy profit from the war.

Netanyahu rejects criticism: I am determined to address Congress

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that he is determined to address the U.S. Congress on Iran's nuclear program. Netanyahu rejected the criticism in the United States and Israel, saying that "while some are busy with protocol or politics, a bad deal with Iran is taking shape."

Speaking at a Likud election event, Netanyahu added that, as prime minister, it is his duty to do everything in his power to prevent a dangerous deal with Iran. "From the day Israel was established to this day, there have been essential differences between Israel and the U.S., and relations remained sound – this will be the case this time as well," he said.

"This is not a political issue or a party issue, neither here nor there. This is an existential issue, and I approach it with the fullest responsibility."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation from Netanyahu-ese into English:

"I will do my best to destroy any possibility of the P5+1 talks reaching a successful conclusion, and hijack US foreign policy on Iran...because I can!!"

And sir, forgive me, but talking about Iran as an alleged "existential threat" is morally disingenuous in the extreme.

Iran has not started a fight in over 200 years.

One certainly cannot say the same for the State of Israel, however.

And let just say, for the sake of argument, that Iran did develop a nuclear bomb. What would that mean for the State of Israel, which already has nuclear bombs?!?

It would mean, sir, that Israel could no longer attack Iran because it had a nuclear deterrent.THAT is what you are trying desperately to prevent.

The Iranian leadership is many things, but stupid is not one of them. They understand that should they attempt to attack Israel, the US and Israel would reduce Iran to smoldering green glass. So, the bottom line here is, they would not.

And just as do the Israelis, the Iranians love their children as well.

And am I not correct that Iran is home to one of the oldest continuing Jewish communities on the planet, who are so content with their lives in Iran that they are not too eager to "make aliyah" (immigrate to Israel)?!?

IF there were racial intolerance against the Jews of Iran, they would be moving as fast as they can from Iran, to find a new home in Israel, or somewhere else. But as you know, in the 1979 Iranian Constitution, Jews, Christians and Bahais were given the status of respected minority religions, and have a seat at the table in the Iranian Parliament.

Uh, sir, how many Palestinians are allowed to stand for election in the Knesset?!?!?
It is both a fair, and reasonable question, don't you think?!?

TSA Demands Internal Passport for Domestic Travel

Precedents exist for requiring citizens to produce special ID for domestic travel; they include Nazi Germany, apartheid South Africa and Russia (both Imperial and Soviet).

Over the Christmas season, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) quietly announced that America was walking down that path. By 2016, all domestic air travel will require either a traditional passport or a federally-compliant ID card called "Real ID." State driver's licenses will no longer allow Americans access to domestic flights, as they do now. Real ID will constitute an internal passport.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The courts have repeatedly ruled that travel is a Constitutional right that may not be infringed on. U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens in Saenz v. Roe, 526 U.S. 489 (1999) held that the United States Constitution protected three separate aspects of the right to travel among the states: the right to enter one state and leave another, the right to be treated as a welcome visitor rather than a hostile stranger (protected by the "privileges and immunities" clause in Article IV, § 2). Having to have an internal passport is being treated as a hostile stranger!
