EU ministers propose extra sanctions against Iran: diplomat

EU foreign ministers on Monday proposed new sanctions going further than UN restrictions, in a bid to pressure Iran over its nuclear programme.

The measures, which also cover the oil and gas industry, with transport and banking or insurance curbs, will now go forward to an EU summit in Brussels on Thursday for final approval.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, these EU sanctions are only a prelude to a military confrontation which will almost inevitably follow here.

Iran worked out a deal with Turkey and Brazil for the nuclear material swap; the only problem was that certain nations (read: the US and Israel) summarily rejected it because it was not the deal they wanted.
