U.S. Rep. Paul Gillmor, who was found dead in his apartment in suburban Washington earlier this week, died of blunt head and neck trauma consistent with a fall down stairs, according to a medical examiner's report released Friday.
The death was certified as an accident, said Lucy Caldwell, a spokeswoman for the Virginia Department of Health, which includes the state's medical examiner's office.
In hindsight, and in light of how Eliot Spitzer was taken down by the financial houses, this may not have been an accident. Paul Gillmor served on the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Sponsored Enterprises
Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit.
