Iraq said not to favor U.S. firms to develop oil fields

Iran is pressuring Iraqi authorities to exclude U.S. oil majors from contracts to develop the country’s massive oil fields, sources at the Oil Ministry said.

The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the authorities currently favor Chinese and Russian companies to those of the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So this is the "victory" Sarah Palin declared we were close to in Iraq in her speech last night?

So in Palin's thought process (if one can characterize her as capable of such), the deaths of millions of Iraqis, and the death and maiming of thousands of US soldiers leads to the conclusion, favored by Iran, of Western companies not getting these oil development contracts, and this is how she defines "victory" in Iraq"???

Forgive me, but the logical mind reels here. If this is "victory" in Iraq, I would deeply appreciate her favoring the American public with her concept of "defeat" in Iraq.

Because with not getting these contracts, defeat of the entire military and political operation is just about what has happened, for all practical intents and purposes.

And the real winner in all of this?

Iran.
