Iowa prosecutors approve delay of Agriprocessors trial

Iowa prosecutors agreed Thursday to a delay in the state trial of Agriprocessors Inc. and its former leaders on child-labor charges.

The Postville meatpacker, its owner and former managers face thousands of charges that they used underage workers. The trial was to be April 20.

The holdup involves electronic records that federal agents seized when they raided the company last May. According to papers that prosecutors filed Thursday, federal investigators are still going over those records, which include internal company e-mails, and they have not turned them over to lawyers in the child-labor case.
