U.S. denounces Israeli ban on Palestinian contact

Washington on Wednesday denounced an order from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to limit his cabinet's contacts with their Palestinian counterparts as "unfortunate," Agence France-Presse reported.

"We are certainly aware of the announcement. We regard it as unfortunate," AFP quoted State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki as saying, as her boss John Kerry met with Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, Al Arabiya reported.

Netanyahu ordered ministers to limit contact with their Palestinian counterparts in response to "the Palestinian violation of their commitments under peace talks," an Israeli official told AFP.

But Psaki shot back: "We believe that cooperation between Israel and the Palestinian Authority has provided benefits to both sides."

Americans Still Blind to Israel’s Domination of Palestine

When Stephen Colbert looks at people he doesn't see skin color. He treats everyone equally because everyone is equally white to him. In the same way, Joseph Kahn, foreign editor of the New York Times, sees no difference between Israelis and Palestinians. When it comes to covering the U.S. - supervised talks between the two neighbors, the Times treats both sides with scrupulously fair equality, Kahn insists.

Of course Colbert's "color blindness" is a joke, meant to remind us that it's absurd to treat the historically powerful and powerless as if they were equal. But when the Times' editor insists on his even-handedness he is apparently dead serious.

US Restricting Travelers Taking International Flights

Jeff Berwick
Activist Post

The US government is using the Malaysian Airlines flight 370 to tackle the "widespread lack of passport screening in all countries." The US is stepping up their processes. Already each passport of incoming visitors to the US is screened through multiple databases. After flight 370 disappeared, the US has started this process for all outgoing passengers.

"Coupled with this information and the new abilities to act on that information definitely makes air travel a lot safer," according to one government official.

The nightmares that await hundreds of travelers in-and-out of the US are palpable for those paying attention. For nearly any random reason an individual can be denied his or her right to travel by the US bureaucracy, and it happens way more than you think...

100 Facts About The Moral Collapse Of America That Are Almost Too Crazy To Believe

The collection of facts and statistics that you are about to read is highly controversial. A lot of people are going to be greatly upset by it. Why? Because they don’t like to be confronted with the truth about America.

Most people tend to believe that we can “fix this country” by getting the right politicians into power or by implementing certain economic or social reforms. But the reality of the matter is that our problems go far deeper than that.

Flashback: Half of children taking Tamiflu have side-effects

More than half the children in England taking the swine flu drug Tamiflu suffer side-effects such as nausea, insomnia and nightmares, researchers have found.

Two studies from the Health Protection Agency (HPA) show a high proportion of schoolchildren reporting problems after taking the antiviral drug.

Data was gathered from children at three schools in London and one in the south-west of England who were given Tamiflu to try and stop them developing swine flu after classmates became infected.

Tamiflu: Millions wasted on flu drug, claims major report

Hundreds of millions of pounds may have been wasted on a drug for flu that works no better than paracetamol, a landmark analysis has said.

The UK has spent £473m on Tamiflu, which is stockpiled by governments globally to prepare for flu pandemics.

The Cochrane Collaboration claimed the drug did not prevent the spread of flu or reduce dangerous complications, and only slightly helped symptoms.

Apr 10 05:30

What the Tamiflu saga tells us about drug trials and big pharma

Today we found out that Tamiflu doesn't work so well after all. Roche, the drug company behind it, withheld vital information on its clinical trials for half a decade, but the Cochrane Collaboration, a global not-for-profit organisation of 14,000 academics, finally obtained all the information. Putting the evidence together, it has found that Tamiflu has little or no impact on complications of flu infection, such as pneumonia.

That is a scandal because the UK government spent £0.5bn stockpiling this drug in the hope that it would help prevent serious side-effects from flu infection. But the bigger scandal is that Roche broke no law by withholding vital information on how well its drug works. In fact, the methods and results of clinical trials on the drugs we use today are still routinely and legally being withheld from doctors, researchers and patients.

Is the US or the World Coming to an End? — Paul Craig Roberts

2014 is shaping up as a year of reckoning for the United States.

Two pressures are building on the US dollar. One pressure comes from the Federal Reserve’s declining ability to rig the price of gold as Western gold supplies shrivel and market knowledge of the Fed’s illegal price rigging spreads. The evidence of massive amounts of naked shorts being dumped into the paper gold futures market at times of day when trading is thin is unequivocal. It has become obvious that the price of gold is being rigged in the futures market in order to protect the dollar’s value from QE.

The other pressure arises from the Obama regime’s foolish threats of sanctions on Russia. Other countries are no longer willing to tolerate Washington’s abuse of the world dollar standard. Washington uses the dollar-based international payments system to inflict damage on the economies of countries that resist Washington’s political hegemony.

The Great American Grocery Hoax

There is a big secret out there in the grocery store aisles that no one wants you to know. There is a hoax of monumental proportions that is being perpetrated on the American public.

Before I tell you what it is, let me remind you of some things that you already know.

It's no secret at all that the American economy is in dire straits. Unemployment has skyrocketed and today's dollars buy a lot less than the dollars of just a few years ago. Even the most thrifty shopper will pay substantially more for a cart full of groceries. To make matters worse, our country's main food-producing areas have been devastated by droughts, and you can expect that prices will only go up from here.

So people work for slave wages, if they can find work at all, then go to the grocery store and buy what they can afford. And that is where the secret comes in.

Why Meat Prices Are Going To Continue Soaring For The Foreseeable Future

The average price of USDAchoice-grade beef has soared to $5.28 a pound, and the average price of a pound of bacon has skyrocketed to $5.46. Unfortunately for those that like to eat meat, this is just the beginning of the price increases. Due to an absolutely crippling drought that won’t let go of the western half of the country, the total size of the U.S. cattle herd has shrunk for seven years in a row, and it is now the smallest that is has been since 1951. But back in 1951, we had less than half the number of mouths to feed. And a devastating pig virus that has never been seen in the United States before has already killed up to 6 million pigs in this country and continues to spread like wildfire. What all of this means is that the supply of meat is going to be tight for the foreseeable future even as demand for meat continues to go up.

UN finding on climate change is just a bunch of hot air, new report claims

A new report from the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), written by an international collection of scientists and published by the conservative Heartland Institute, claims just that, declaring that humanity's impact on climate is not causing substantial harm to the Earth.

“All across the planet, the historical increase in the atmosphere’s CO2 concentration has stimulated vegetative productivity,” reads a portion of the 1,063-page report, called “Climate Change Reconsidered II: Biological Impacts.” “This observed stimulation, or greening of the Earth, has occurred in spite of many real and imagined assaults on Earth’s vegetation, including fires, disease, pest outbreaks, deforestation and climatic change.”

This practice could permit unauthorized changes to weapons drawings.” Questioned about undocumented changes to a particular weapon drawing, “officials were unable to explain why changes were made, but told us that they ‘assumed’ the changes were needed.”

It is hoped the Harris Hawk, with a wingspan of 120 centimetres, will scare off predators looking to make a quick meal of a holy dove.

White House Lies to EU about US Gas Supply

The White House and State Department have engaged in brazen lying to EU governments regarding the ability of the US to supply more than enough natural gas to replace Russian gas deliveries. Recent statements by US President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry are so patently false that it betrays an incredible desperation in Washington over the situation in Ukraine versus Moscow. Or it suggests that Washington is so out of touch with any factual reality she simply doesn’t care what she says. Either way, it suggests an unreliable diplomatic partner for the EU.

Why do prominent scientists and a Star Trek star appear in unscientific ‘documentary’?

The yet-to-be-released film, The Principle, is narrated by Kate Mulgrew, who once played Capt. Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager and recently starred in Orange is the New Black. Her voice opens the film’s trailer, saying “Everything we think we know about our universe is wrong.”

The movie also includes cameos by noted scientists Michio Kaku, Lawrence Krauss and Max Tegmark.

The film was produced by radical Christian and Holocaust denier Robert Sungenis. He appears in the trailer to argue that NASA has deleted internet records to hide evidence of an earth-centred galaxy.

After a torrent of bad press earlier this week, Mulgrew took to Facebook to explain her side of the story.

Continental Drift

The opening to Tolstoy’s great novel of love and tragedy could be a metaphor for Europe today, where “unhappy families” of Catalans, Scots, Belgiums, Ukrainians, and Italians contemplate divorcing the countries they are currently a part of. And in a case where reality mirrors fiction, they are each unhappy in their own way.

While the U.S. and its allies may rail against the recent referendum in the Crimea that broke the peninsula free of Ukraine, Scots will consider a very similar one on Sept. 18, and Catalans would very much like to do the same. So would residents of South Tyrol, and Flemish speakers in northern Belgium.

In search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, two new signals buoy hope

Searchers picked up fresh signals that officials hope came from locator beacons attached to the so-called black boxes in the tail of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared more than a month ago while carrying 239 people from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

The Australian ship Ocean Shield had first picked up two sets of underwater pulses Saturday. It heard nothing more until Tuesday, when it reacquired the signals twice. The four signals were within 17 miles of one another.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These signals are very faint, just above the background noise. They are detected by instruments since the official frequency for aircraft locator pingers is 37.5 KHz, although the signals they are getting are down around 33 KHz. These are well above the range of human hearing and speech.

But dolphins hear and emit sounds that go all the way up to 50 KHz. I hate to throw cold water on the valiant efforts of the searchers, but they may be chasing flipper.

From SSRIstories above - List of school shootings known to be linked to SSRIs Eric Harris age 17 (first on Zoloft then Luvox) and Dylan Klebold aged 18 (Colombine school shooting in Littleton, Colorado), killed 12 students and 1 teacher, and wounded 23 others, before killing themselves. Klebold's medical records have never been made available to the public.

Jeff Weise, age 16, had been prescribed 60 mg/day of Prozac (three times the average starting dose for adults!) when he shot his grandfather, his grandfather's girlfriend and many fellow students at Red Lake, Minnesota. He then shot himself. 10 dead, 12 wounded.

Cory Baadsgaard, age 16, Wahluke (Washington state) High School, was on Paxil (which caused him to have hallucinations) when he took a rifle to his high school and held 23 classmates hostage. He has no memory of the event.

The History and Science of Color Revolutions Part 3

Brandon Turbeville

In my last article regarding the history and science of color revolutions, I attempted to demonstrate how the science of using mass movements of “swarming adolescents” to destabilize national governments and implement regime change is actually a well-established instrument of imperialist desires. In addition, the previous article also demonstrated the methodology of this type of attack in terms of the means of deployment and necessary components of the color revolution.

US sees sharpest health insurance premium increases in years

Americans have recently been hit with some of the largest premium increases in years, according to a Morgan Stanley survey of insurance brokers.

The investment bank’s April survey of 148 brokers found that this quarter, the average premium increase for customers renewing an insurance plan is 12 percent in the small group market and 11 percent in the individual market, according to Forbes’ Scott Gottlieb.

The hikes — the largest in the past three years, according to Morgan Stanley’s quarterly reports — are “largely due to changes under the [Affordable Care Act],” analysts concluded. Rates have been growing increasingly fast throughout all of 2013, after a period of drops in 2012.

The House Ways and Means Committee voted 23 to 14 today to refer former IRS official Lois Lerner to Attorney General Eric Holder for possible criminal prosecution. The vote broke along party lines.

What I think happened in Benghazi

So here is what I think was going on.

Polls in September 2012 showed the Presidential race neck and neck. Many media outlets were openly predicting a Romney victory. Obama had failed to garner public approval over the killing of a man claimed (but never proven) to be Osama bin Laden, mostly because of the manner in which the body was disposed of and the obvious faked photos leaked onto the internet.

Obama needed a publicity stunt.

A small team of "Al Qaeda" terrorists, or someone playing at being Al Qaeda terrorists, were supposed to enter the Consulate and take the Ambassador and his staff hostage. Obama would let the drama build for a few days, allowing the media to hype the story, then send in the SEAL teams to "rescue" the hostages, then campaign on how he did not let the situation turn into a repeat of the Iranian hostage crisis, which would have dovetailed with the Iran bashing (and Argo).

Webmaster's Commentary:

The corporate media is reporting that there may be a new Congressional Select Committee to investigate Benghazi, which is government-speak for one more tax-funded attempt to polish the official lies.

It is our obligation. Nowhere is it written that the ger has to love us.

Lies, Exploitation And The Australian Media's Pursuit Of Schapelle Corby

Whilst there are many innocent people in prisons across the world, Schapelle Corby’s imprisonment was not only unjust, it was both corrupt and political.

Her own government, the Australian government, had known since July 2005 that she was entirely innocent. It had known that the marijuana, which had been found in her bag on arrival in Bali, had been placed by corrupt staff across Australian airports. It had known that airport security was shambolic, and that the Australian Federal Police (AFP) were involved in the syndication of drugs.

Rather than manage the implications of this situation, ministers chose to sacrifice an innocent life. They wilfully suppressed the life critical evidence, they blocked essential revenue for Schapelle Corby’s legal appeals, and they led the Australian media into a campaign of abuse, fabrication, and vitriol.

US Plays Up Iran ‘Breakout Capability’ at Nuclear Talks

A new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 means a new round of “problems” for the US to present with Iran’s civilian nuclear program, and indeed with Iran in general.

Secretary of State John Kerry laid out the “breakout capability” of Iran’s civilian enrichment program, the assumption that Iran could theoretically whip together a nuclear weapon in short order if it chose to do so.

Kerry presented it as a “public domain” fact that Iran could create enough fissile material for a weapon in two months, though officials have gone anywhere from 3-4 months and a matter of days in different speeches throughout the years.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Whenever Secretary Kerry represents something as "fact", as he did when he claimed that Al-Assad gassed his own supporters right at the moment when UN observers hit the ground in Syria last summer, I get very nervous.

When it comes to Syria, the US government is acting like a dysfunctional person in a relationship who cannot admit that they have been wrong, and have grievously mistreated the partner in the relationship, and apologize; instead, they do everything humanly possible to force their partner to withdraw from the relationship first.

That is precisely what the US government is doing to Iran right now, and Iran absolutely doesn't deserve this treatment.

The US wants Iran to walk out of these talks, then will blame Iran for having done so.

To the Iranian negotiators: the American people do not want war against Iran, Syria, Russia, or any other "usual suspects" the US government keeps dangling in front of us for our supposed daily "15 minutes of hate".

The American people want peace; they cannot, at this moment in time, trust the current administration to provide it, and are very angry that it appears that this country is teetering on the brink of generating yet another world war, which is always profitable for the banking class, but pretty lousy for average citizens.

Please understand that.

At this moment, the American people are no longer represented by any branch of American government; it is only the large corporations; the military industrial complex; and the security industrial complex which are represented in the halls of Congress, and this is a pretty rotten situation for any American who cares deeply (and peacefully) about the state of their government, and the future of this planet.

Iraq to Exclude Major Sunni Cities From Vote, Citing al-Qaeda

The last national election in Iraq saw a surprise victory for Iraqiya, a party with strong Sunni support which was eventually cut out of power when Prime Minister Maliki reneged on a power-sharing deal. They dominated in the Anbar Province.

This year isn’t looking nearly so promising. The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has announced that a large portion of the Anbar Province, including the major cities of Ramadi and Fallujah, won’t be voting at all on April 29.

Fallujah remains under the control of al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) as does a lot of Anbar, and IHEC insists that there is no way they can organize the vote when there is an ongoing military offensive in the cities.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So THIS is the "...legacy of democracy" the US brought to Iraq?!?

Someone, hand me a bucket, please: I think I am going to become physically ill.

Unless the Sunnis of Iraq feel like they are being truly represented in their country's government, we most likely will see a civil war that will engulf the country with flames and blood, far worse than the world has ever seen before here.

Nuke talks collapsing as US opposes Iran’s pick for UN envoy

Washington and Tehran are again at odds after the United States Senate voted this week to ban the Iranian diplomat nominated to serve as his country’s ambassador to the United Nations from entering the US.

The Senate overwhelmingly agreed on Monday this week that Iran’s pick for UN envoy, Hamid Aboutalebi, shouldn’t be allowed to step foot in the US due to his alleged role in the 1979 hostage crisis at the American Embassy in Tehran. Aboutalebi denies being directly involved in the stand-off, during which 52 Americans were held hostage amidst high tensions between nations for 444 days.

Nevertheless, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) had no problem convincing his colleagues on Capitol Hill to speak up against what he called a “deliberate and unambiguous insult to the United States” courtesy of Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having an industrial strength palm-to-forehead moment, at velocity, upon reading this.

And I have a short memo for Senator Ted Cruz, who one cannot possibly characterize as over-versed in world history.

Sir, the reason the Iranians were so angry at the US was the US's destabilization of Iran's democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh in 1953, and his replacement by the US puppet, the Shah of Iran. Please, sir: do look this up. It is a fact of history, and I understand you can read, when you want to.

Please also remember, sir, your own party's dealings with the Iranian government which culminated in the "October Surprise", when these hostages were released, just in time for the US Presidential elections. How convenient for your party.

And has anyone from the US government actually TALKED with this guy, to find out where his heart and soul are in 2014? What did he do AFTER the Iranian revolution?!? He turns 57 this year, and it is noted in his bio on Wickipedia:

Aboutalebi was previously ambassador of Iran to Australia, the European Union, Belgium, Italy and also political director general to Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[2] Professional Background Aboutalebi obtained his Ph.D. in historical sociology from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 1999, after having completed master's degrees in sociology (from Sorbonne Nouvelle University, Paris) and in the history of Islamic civilization and culture (from Tehran University). Aboutalebi also earned his bachelor's degree in sociology from Tehran University.[3]

And another little factoid, Senator Cruz:

Aboutalebi said he did not participate in the takeover of the US embassy, but was brought in to translate and negotiate following the occupation.[10][11] Aboutalebi was a student and member of the Muslim Student Followers of the Imam's Line, comprising students from several major science and technology universities of Tehran, which occupied the U.S. embassy in Tehran.[11] Ebrahim Asgharzadeh, a member of the core group who organized and led the embassy takeover, told BBC Persian that Aboutalebi's involvement was peripheral. "Calling him a hostage-taker is simply wrong," Asgharzadeh said.

So, Senator Cruz, the reality of this situation was that he was a translator because of his excellent grasp of English: not a hostage taker.

And the other reality of this situation, Senator Cruz, is that what the US did in 1953 by arranging for regime change, and deposing the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh, replacing him with the Shah, was "... a deliberate and unambiguous insult" to the Iranian people."

This opposition to Iran's ambassador is a transparent attempt to derail the Iranian nuclear deal, in order to justify invasion.

Recent protests in eastern Ukraine were triggered by Kiev’s attempt to violate the linguistic rights of Russian speakers, Dennis John Kucinich, a former US Representative from Ohio and a two-time presidential candidate, told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

“Everyone knows the junta in Kiev was installed by a coup and that you have nationalists, neo-Nazis who came to power as a result of that coup. One of the first things that happened was an attack on linguistic rights,” Kucinich said.

“And this of course created a backlash. You know, when you have a country where so many people have Russian as their first language, this was something that threw a lot of fear into people,” the former US Representative said.

Syrian Rebels Have US-Made Anti-Tank Missiles

US military intervention in the Syrian Civil War has mostly taken the form of small arms and equipment for various rebel factions, but looks to be picking up the pace dramatically, as new videos come out showing US-made BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missiles in rebel hands.

Two different rebel factions, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and a faction allied with the Islamic Front are claiming to have the weapons, though the US is still not officially confirming they were the direct suppliers.

In recent weeks the reports have said the US was less and less concerned about the shipments, preferring to see the civil war escalate at any cost, and apparently willing to deal with the inevitable backlash when the weapons start showing up in al-Qaeda’s hands.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And I would like to ask the geniuses in DC just what happens if Al-Assad stands for re-election, and gets overwhelmingly re-elected in what is characterized by outside observers as a universally "free and fair" election?!?!?

Should this happen, and it well may, you can count American foreign policy on this accusation of "al-Assad torturing his own people" to be well and truly flushed.

Arming these rebels is only going to add to the misery of the Syrian people, because any doctrinal difference between the rebels and the people of this country are viewed by these rebels as an act of war.

Lastly, if the US government thinks that a non-Al-Assad government in Syria is going to be Western-centric and compliant to all of the US's demands (such as potentially staging an attack against Iran from Syria), it had damned well better think again!!!

NATO to triple Baltic air patrol from next month

NATO will triple its usual number of fighter jets patrolling over the Baltics next month to beef up its eastern European defenses due to tension with Russia over Ukraine, a NATO military official said on Tuesday.

Four NATO fighters are usually based in the Baltics but the United States, which currently has responsibility for patrolling the skies there, increased that to 10 F-15s to reassure those states following Russia's occupation of Ukraine's Crimea region.

The number of fighters assigned to the Baltic "air policing" mission is now set to increase further to 12, three times the normal complement, when the next four-month period starts in May, the NATO military official said.

The strengthening of air patrols over the Baltics is part of a plan of air, land and sea reinforcements for central and eastern European allies that NATO's top military commander, U.S. Air Force General Philip Breedlove, is drawing up by April 15.

US missile cruiser Donald Cook heading for Black Sea

USS Donald Cook, a missile cruiser, is due to begin a “tour of duty” in the Black Sea water area within the next few days, Bulgarian mass media said Tuesday, according tot Itar-Tass. Sources at the Bulgarian Defense Ministry said that US naval forces and their allies will have war games at sea. Also, the Donald Cook will whole call into a number of ports along coast, including some ports in Bulgaria. In addition to this, some 175 US marines will be deployed at the Romanian coast.

Derek Chollet, the US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs who is a principal advisor to the secretary on security strategy and policy issues, told a group of Congressmen earlier Tuesday that one more US ship would be dispatched to the Black Sea in addition to the destroyer Truxton, which is already there.

Unfortunately, just because a military confrontation with Russia would be the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly wrong decision the US government and military could possibly make is utterly no guarantee that these entities won't make that decision.

Insurance watchdog's independent office scrapped

New Brunswick’s consumer advocate for insurance will not be renewed when his term is up this year and the independent watchdog’s office will be permanently scrapped at the end of 2014.

Ronald Godin, who was appointed as the province’s first consumer advocate for insurance in 2004, said he was told in a phone call two weeks ago that his term would not be renewed.

He said he had expected that he may not have another term in the oversight position.

“But the surprise was that the office will be closing at the end of my term and the employees will be released by that date, Dec. 31, 2014,” he said.

U.S. Corporations Now Hold Over $2 Trillion In Untaxed Profits Overseas: Study

Foreign profits held overseas by U.S. corporations to avoid taxes at home nearly doubled from 2008 to 2013 to top $2.1 trillion, said a private research firm's report, prompting a call for reform by the Senate's top tax law writer.

"The new numbers ... certainly highlight what is one of the key challenges for tax reform. I do think there need to be some reforms in this area," Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden told reporters on Tuesday on Capitol Hill.

Under U.S. law, corporations do not have to pay income tax on most of their overseas profits until they are brought into the United States. These earnings can be held offshore for years if they are classified as indefinitely invested abroad.

Research firm Audit Analytics said in a report issued last week that the total of such earnings was up 93 percent from 2008 to 2013, citing federal financial filings for companies listed in the Russell 1000 index of U.S. corporations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ukraine chaos - blame the West

The plan to move NATO's borders eastwards preceded the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact and the promises that the western alliance would not shift beyond Germany. Look what happened. The plan to move NATO's borders to Russia's western frontier preceded the current troubles in Ukraine.

Another feather in the cap of a failed foreign policy based upon intrusion, arrogance and snatching resources, placing a geo-intrusive foot on the geopolitical map, controlling trade flows and creating markets for the banking, energy, drugs and arms lobbies. Where NATO moves, the lobbies follow behind.

Netanyahu Orders Israeli Ministers To Stop Meeting Palestinian Counterparts

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his ministers Wednesday to cut off contact with their Palestinian counterparts, an official said, the latest in a series of troubles plaguing floundering U.S.-brokered peace talks.

The move is retaliation for a Palestinian bid to join United Nations agencies, which the official said was a violation of the Palestinians' commitment in the peace talks. The Palestinians dismissed the Israeli move, saying both sides rarely meet now as it is.

Abbas signed letters of accession for 15 international conventions after Israel last week failed to release the fourth group of prisoners and renewed a push to build homes in an Israeli settlement in east Jerusalem — the area of the holy city sought by the Palestinians for their future capital. Israel then called off the final prisoner release.

Webmaster's Commentary:

SOMEWHERE in Netanyahu's CV is a PH.D in "blame the victims"; and I say this because this is the card he plays over and over again, as though he has zero other options.

Netanyahu, by refusing to release the last batch of political prisoners, coupled with massive building of Israeli-only housing in both East Jerusalem and the West bank, gave the Palestinians absolutely nowhere to go but to the UN to follow their quest for statehood. Then he blamed them for taking the only course open to them.

Netanyahu needs to understand that the next generation of Palestinians will not be as patient as has "the old guard", represented by Abbas and Erekat. As things deteriorate for the Palestinians, they may well be far more militant, and far better trained in insurgency than were their parents and grandparents.

They will not take the wretchedly apartheid attitudes of Israelis lightly. And when you have a "moral rock star" like the retired Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa (who has lived through apartheid) stating that Israel is truly an apartheid society, you can pretty much bet that this guy is telling the truth.

Netanyahu has squandered an historic opportunity to create peace and justice here, with his bombastic, hubristic, bellicose rhetoric, and it is a profound mystery to me why any Israelis support him at all at this moment in their history.

A thriving Israel, complemented by a thriving Palestine, would do much to really ratchet down the tensions in the region; but Netanyahu appears to want to do just the polar opposite.

Threatening attacks against Syria and Iran, then potentially actually carrying them out, cannot possibly lead to peace, and will put the Israeli people in greater jeopardy of finding themselves attacked, and mercilessly, by other nations in the region and beyond.

I do not want to see this happen.

Major security alert over ‘heartbleed’ eavesdropping bug that could have infected TWO THIRDS of sites

A major online security alert has been issued after experts found a bug in one of the web's most common security systems.

Called the 'heartbleed' bug, it allows hackers to eavesdrop on supposedly secure communications.

The vulnerability was found by Google researchers in the OpenSSL cryptographic library, which is believed to be used in some way by roughly two-thirds of all websites on the Internet and is part of the most common server software in use.

“Freedom of the Press” and “The Shield Law”: “Protecting the Public” from Independent Alternatives to the Mainstream Media

Yet in this current bill, not only can the government continue to engage in the above behavior, but they are also defining who is and who is not a journalist. Initially, the bill defined a journalist as “a person who has a ‘primary intent to investigate events and procure material’ in order to inform the public by regularly gathering information through interviews and observations” and added the stipulation that “The person also must intend to report on the news at the start of obtaining any protected information and must plan to publish that news.”[9] This seems to be rather fine as it would include mainstream and independent journalists. However, the situation became problematic when in September 2013, an amendment to the bill was proposed that- let’s just say- ‘more clearly’ defined who and who was not a journalist.

5 Recent Underreported Environmental Disasters

Pollution has long been an accepted cost of cheap energy production, particularly in states desperate for jobs. Big Energy is a powerful presence in Washington, working hard to block and gut environmental regulation and to defang the agencies tasked with protecting the country's natural resources. Weak or outdated laws governing toxic chemicals, and the absence of standardized oversight, tracking mechanisms or meaningful punishment for oil spills and leaks gives industry the leeway to keep polluting.

In the last twelve months, a rash of devastating oil, coal ash and chemical incidents have highlighted how extreme environmental degradation is now standard practice. Here are some of the worst.

Nat Geo: Gulf Oil Spill "Not Over": Dolphins, Turtles Dying in Record Numbers

—More than 900 bottlenose dolphins have been found dead or stranded in the oil spill area since April 2010. If you stretched the corpses lengthwise, that's 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) of dead dolphins, Inkley said. Scientists know that is more than in previous years because they've been recording deaths and strandings in the Gulf for a decade.

Ongoing research also shows that dolphins swimming in oiled areas are underweight, anemic, and showing signs of liver and lung diseases. (Related: "U.S. Dolphin Deaths Rise to 300; Cause Still a Mystery.")

A top predator like the dolphin falling ill is a sign that species further down the food chain are also having trouble, Inkley said.

US could ‘re-examine’ its military presence in Europe

Russia‘s takeover of Crimea could prompt a review the US military presence in Europe, which has declined steadily since the end of the Cold War, a senior Pentagon official said today.

“While we do not seek confrontation with Russia, its actions in Europe and Eurasia may require the United States to re-examine our force posture in Europe and our requirement for future deployments, exercises, and training in the region,” said Assistant Secretary of Defense Derek Chollet.

Some 67,000 US military members are currently stationed on the European continent, mainly in Germany (40,000), Italy (11,000) and Britain (9,500).

When the Soviet Union fell in late 1991, the total presence stood at 285,000.

Chollet, testifying before the House Armed Services Committee, did not specify what such a re-examination could entail at a time when the Pentagon faces budget cuts and is seeking to redeploy part of its resources to the Asia Pacific region as part of a so-called pivot strategy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Deep in the bowels of Congressional committees, there lurks one bill, submitted by Representative Charlie Rangel of New York, to reinstate the draft, and this time, for both our young men and women.

Congressman Charles B. Rangel introduced legislation on Friday that would reintroduce the draft and would require all women to register for the Selective Service.

His reasoning for this is disingenuous in the extreme, and he has made the statement that "Reinstating the draft and requiring women to register for the Selective Service would compel the American public to have a stake in the wars we fight as a nation. We must question why and how we go to war, and who decides to send our men and women into harm's way."

OF course, a new draft will not do that because all wars are economic, and are engineered to have all countries go into debt to pay for, and finance their war efforts, which will take decades to pay back to the banks.
No war is "the people's war": they are all bankers' wars, for profit.

But should there be something really ugly, anywhere in the world which targets American assets of any kind, I would not bet against the passage of this bill, perhaps as early as before the end of this year.

Retail Apocalypse? Major Chains Closing Hundreds Of Stores

Hundreds of stores across the nation are closing as some of America’s most famous retailers struggle to stay in business.

The country is facing what CNBC has labeled a tsunami of store closings and blogger Michael Snyder has called a retail apocalypse.

Major retailers are posed to close 300 stores in the United States this year and that is only the beginning, CNBC reported. Up to half of the retail stores in the United States could disappear in the next 10 years, analyst Michael Burden told CNBC.

Police killings in America

Hardly a week goes by without a video emerging of another wanton killing by police somewhere in the country. The so-called “justice” system in America is notorious for its brutal treatment of workers and youth who get caught up in its web.

Despite having only five percent of the world’s population, the United States holds one quarter of the world’s prison inmates. Some 2.2 million Americans are in prison, and 4.8 million are on probation or parole. The US is one of a handful of developed countries that carries out the barbaric practice of capital punishment.

Capitalist rule in America has always been carried out by violent means, but the presence of police, armed guards and the military in daily life has grown rapidly in the aftermath of the financial crash of 2008. Its growth has paralleled a further increase in already staggering levels of social inequality.

Holder did not specifically address Poe’s question but reveled some details of the use of drones in the Justice department.

“Within the Department, the only component that uses these vehicles at this point is the FBI,” Holder explained. “The ATF in the process of working through to see if they want to make use of them.”

Holder added that the Inspector General had recommended that the Justice Department come up with a policy to regulate the use of drones for domestic surveillance.

NATO Members Conduct False Flag Terror In Attempt to Whip Up War

Pulitzer-prize winning investigative reporter Seymour Hersh (who uncovered the Iraq prison torture scandal and the Mai Lai massacre in Vietnam) says that high-level American sources tell him that the Turkish government carried out the chemical weapons attacks blamed on the Syrian government.

Indeed, it’s long been known that sarin was coming through Turkey.

Turkey is a member of NATO. So we’re really talking about a NATO member launching a false flag attack against a non-NATO member, and then blaming it on the victim.

Indeed, a new tape recording of top Turkish officials planning a false flag attack to be blamed on Syria as a causus belli was just leaked a couple of weeks ago, and confirmed by Turkey as being authentic.

In other words, since the last big Turkish false flag didn’t succeed in launching war against Syria, they’re going to try again.

This is not the first false flag by NATO members.

Webmaster's Commentary:

BBC noted yesterday that next week, there would be "crunch talks" between Ukraine, Russia, the US, and NATO regarding the Ukraine.

40 Central Banks Are Betting This Will Be The Next Reserve Currency

The US dollar remains in charge (for now)...but
The US dollar is still the world's most widely held reserve currency, accounting for nearly 33 per cent of global foreign exchange holdings at the end of last year, according to IMF data. That ratio has been declining since 2000, when 55 per cent of the world's reserves were denominated in US dollars.

The IMF does not disclose the percentage of reserves held in yuan, but the emerging market countries' share of reserves in "other currencies" has increased by almost 400 per cent since 2003, while that of developed nations grew 200 per cent, according to IMF data.

As SCMP goes on to note, the rising popularity of the yuan among central bankers is probably mainly due to Beijing's extremely favourable treatment of them as it has sought to encourage investment in the yuan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If the US petrodollar collapses, it will be completely the fault of the US Federal Reserve and the US government, due to horrific mismanagement.
