"... What about the main thing in life, all its riddles? If you want, I'll spell it out for you right now. Do not pursue what is illusionary -property and position: all that is gained at the expense of your nerves decade after decade, and is confiscated in one fell night. Live with a steady superiority over life -don't be afraid of misfortune, and do not yearn for happiness; it is, after all, all the same: the bitter doesn't last forever, and the sweet never fills the cup to overflowing. It is enough if you don't freeze in the cold and if thirst and hunger don't claw at your insides. If your back isn't broken, if your feet can walk, if both arms can bend, if both eyes can see, if both ears hear, then whom should you envy? And why? Our envy of others devours us most of all. Rub your eyes and purify your heart -and prize above all else in the world those who love you and who wish you well. Do not hurt them or scold them, and never part from any of them in anger; after all, you simply do not know: it may be your last act before your arrest, and that will be how you are imprinted on their memory." -- Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Nasa finds monster black hole sucking up gas, dust and stars at centre of galaxy

A black hole is a region of space in which the gravitational pull is so powerful that nothing, including whole planets, can escape being sucked in if they come within its reach.
The galaxy in the photograph is spiral-shaped, like our Milky Way, and extends long arms of red stars into space. But Nasa said the black hole at the centre of the galaxy in which Earth is situated is tame by comparison to NGC-1097, with the mass of just a few million suns.

New research discovers link between smoking and brain damage

New research which suggests a direct link between smoking and brain damage will be published in the July issue of the Journal of Neurochemistry. Researchers, led by Debapriya Ghosh and Dr Anirban Basu from the Indian National Brain Research Center (NBRC), have found that a compound in tobacco provokes white blood cells in the central nervous system to attack healthy cells, leading to severe neurological damage.

Healthcare Is a Good, Not a Right

Political philosopher Richard Weaver famously and correctly stated that ideas have consequences. Take for example ideas about rights versus goods. Natural law states that people have rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A good is something you work for and earn. It might be a need, like food, but more “goods” seem to be becoming “rights” in our culture, and this has troubling consequences. It might seem harmless enough to decide that people have a right to things like education, employment, housing or healthcare. But if we look a little further into the consequences, we can see that the workings of the community and economy are thrown wildly off balance when people accept those ideas.

The Story of A Place Called Mouseland Video

It's the story of a place called Mouseland. Mouseland was a place where all the little mice lived and played, were born and died. And they lived much the same as you and I do.

They even had a Parliament. And every four years they had an election. Used to walk to the polls and cast their ballots. Some of them even got a ride to the polls. And got a ride for the next four years afterwards too. Just like you and me. And every time on election day all the little mice used to go to the ballot box and they used to elect a government. A government made up of big, fat, black cats.

Recession over, Bank of Canada says

The recession is over, the Bank of Canada said in its quarterly Monetary Policy Report released Thursday.

After shrinking since the last quarter of 2008, the Canadian economy will grow by an annualized rate of 1.3 per cent in the current quarter, the bank said.

Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney said Canada is on track for an economic recovery.

However, unemployment will continue to rise, he said.

UW Hospital says more than 50 patients may have been exposed to brain disorder

Some UW Hospital patients may have been exposed to a rare but deadly brain disorder.

UW Hospital officials have told 53 patients they have an extremely low risk of contracting a rare deadly brain disorder after being operated on with contaminated surgical instruments.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Two very important things to consider here:

1. Americans are still dying of Mad Cow disease.

2. Whoever was responsible for this catastrophic breakdown of sterilization protocol at this hospital should be fired, and never allowed to work in a medical establishment again.

U.S. admits it has no case against teen held at Guantanamo

The Justice Department conceded Friday that it lacks the evidence to hold a teenage Guantanamo detainee as an enemy combatant after a federal judge last week ruled that his confession was inadmissible.

n a hearing last week, U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle ruled that Mohammed Jawad's confession to Afghan officials was inadmissible because it had been extracted through torture. She also questioned whether the Justice Department had any evidence to proceed with a trial to determine whether he can be held as an enemy combatant.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is going to be one of those guys who will probably be condemned to indefinite detention, just due to embarrassment on the part of a government who called him guilty because of a confession coerced through torture.

No admission of of wrongdoing by this government, and this guy has done nothing wrong, but his backside will be a slammer somewhere for the rest of his life.

How American is this process of "justice"?!?

Christian Right Crusades for Israel

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, trying to garner support against the pressures of the Obama administration, spoke to the group on Wednesday via satellite after a conversation earlier in the day with leaders of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

He told the Christians for Israel, "For centuries, the relationship between Christians and Jews was marked by conflict rather than partnership and friendship. But this is changing…. Today millions of Christians stand with Israel because they stand for freedom; millions of Christians stand with Israel because they stand for truth; and millions of Christians stand with Israel because they want to see a genuine peace in the Holy Land.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Freedom"?!?!? "Truth"?!?!? I don't know what country about which Netanyahu is waxing poetic, but it is definitely not Israel.

And if Christian Zionists really knew what most Israelis thought about them, they would be shocked and chagrined.

The phrase by which Christians rooting for Israel, right or wrong, might be characterized by Israelis would probably be, at its kindest, "useful idiots".

All U.S. children should get seasonal flu shot: CDC

All U.S. children aged 6 months to 18 years should get a seasonal influenza vaccine every year, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As reported at:

"The U.S. government has contracts with several drug companies to develop and produce swine flu vaccines. At least two of those companies, Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline, are using an adjuvant in their H1N1 vaccines."

The adjuvant? Squalene."

The negative effects of squalene have been noted since 1987 in terms of causing severe autoimmune diseases.

As reported here:

"Squalene "contributed to the cascade of reactions called "Gulf War syndrome. (GIs developed) arthritis, fibromyalgia, lymphadenopathy, rashes, photosensitive rashes, malar rashes, chronic fatigue, chronic headaches, abnormal body hair loss, non-healing skin lesions, aphthous ulcers, dizziness, weakness, memory loss, seizures, mood changes, neuropsychiatric problems, anti-thyroid effects, anemia, elevated ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Raynaud's phenomenon, Sjorgren's syndrome, chronic diarrhea, night sweats and low-grade fever."

"Matsumoto's book includes numerous case studies of GIs afflicted with one or more of the above syndromes, their devastating effects, and the outlandish US government reaction - failing to acknowledge their existence or a connection between them and administered vaccines. Also denying the effects of other toxic Gulf theater exposures (like depleted uranium) as well as withholding meaningful treatments or protocols."

Russia warns Georgia: no rearming

US: We will not use sanctions against Israel

The US state department stressed on Friday that President Obama is not at all considering to impose economic sanctions on Israel when it fails to comply with US demands to end construction in settlements. The US is also not willing to consider mounting international pressure on Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No matter how many times Netanyahu's government spits in Obama's face and tells him it's raining on the settlement issue, Obama will not use the one weapon he could potentially use for some leverage: US aid, both financial and military, to Israel.

By having that statement made by a State Department Official, Obama has just conceded that no matter what Israel does to the Palestinians (murder, siege, burning their crops, or evicting them and building illegal settlements where Palestinians used to live), he is catastrophically impotent when it comes to being an honest broker for peace.

Continuity in Kyrgyzstan: The Same Old Imperial Game Goes On

But of course this is not a "challenge" at all. It's remarkably simple. The Waterloo allegory symbolizes a turning point in Obama’s struggle to impose government-run health care on Americans. The infamous Battle of Waterloo effectively ended Napoleon Bonaparte’s military career.

Napoleon believed in government "for" the people and rejected the concept of government "by" the people. His France was a police state with a vast network of secret police and spies. The police shut down plays containing any hint of disagreement or criticism of the government. The press was controlled by the state. It was impossible to express an opinion without Napoleon's approval. Sound vaguely familiar?

52 percent of U.S. soldiers wounded in Iraq, Afghanistan diagnosed with TBI

Some 52 percent of soldiers severely injured in Iraq and Afghanistan who have come to the U.S. Army's largest hospital for treatment have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries (TBI), an internal study has found.

The U.S. Department of Defense began conducting cognitive ability tests on all military personnel to be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan in November 2007. The servicemen and women who took the tests began returning from their combat tours early this year, allowing for greater chances of discovering a TBI and probably leading to the increased numbers of diagnosed cases.

From Iraq to Afghanistan, US Wars Not Going According to Plan

The growing opinion in Europe is that Afghanistan is the United States’ "new Vietnam." The truth is that it is worse than Vietnam.

In Vietnam, the United States had a clearly identified enemy, supported by a responsible Communist state in North Vietnam with its government in Hanoi. The U.S. had a theory about what it was doing: suppressing the insurrection in the South, and bombing North Vietnam until the government stopped the war. All of this was, in principle, possible.

However the U.S. acted on a nonsensical theory about the world "going Communist" if the U.S. didn’t win, just as today the U.S. has an even more nonsensical theory about radical Islam conquering Muslim Asia and all of Europe, and then attacking the U.S., if Washington fails.

US Escalates War Plans In Latin America

For over forty years Colombia, the last of Washington's remaining "death squad democracy" clients in the Western Hemisphere, has waged a relentless counterinsurgency war against the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC} and an equally ruthless campaign with its US-trained and -equipped military and allied paramilitary formations against trade union, peasant, indigenous and other organizations. An estimated 40,000 have been killed and 2 million displaced as a result of the fighting.

Pfizer to Pay Tens of Millions for Deaths of Nigerian Children in Drug Trial Experiment

The case began in 1996, when Pfizer needed a human trial to gain approval for its new antibiotic Trovan. When an epidemic of meningitis, cholera and measles broke out in Kano, Nigeria, the company quickly put together a research team and flew them to that country. Pfizer set up a tent right near the medical station where Doctors Without Borders were giving free treatments and recruited 200 children to participate in an unlicensed drug trial.

Parents say they were not told that proven medications were being distributed only yards away, that their children were being enrolled in a drug trial, or that animal studies had suggested that Trovan could cause liver and joint damage.

Ex-Lehman Trader Says Fuld Snubbed Warnings on Housing Bubble

“Mike said flatly that in his opinion the U.S. real-estate market was pumped up like an athlete on steroids,” says McDonald, a former Lehman vice president of distressed debt and convertible securities trading who says he was in the room that day.

This was not what Chief Executive Officer Richard S. Fuld Jr. wanted to hear. At the time, Lehman was still making a fortune by buying up mortgages, packaging them into collateralized debt obligations and selling them off. Yet Gelband was daring to broach an “unspoken question,” McDonald says: What if the property market crashes and we get stuck holding billions of dollars in securitizations we can’t sell?

Russia says it will take 'concrete steps' over any US attempt to rearm Georgia

Russia warned today it would not allow Georgia to rearm amid signs that the government in Tbilisi had actively sounded out the Obama administration about rebuilding the military during a visit by the vice-president, Joe Biden, on the eve of the anniversary of last year's war.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Do you want war with Russia?

Because war with Russia is what will happen when Israel starts a war between the US and Iran. And Israel doesn't care if the US and Russia get into a war with each other; indeed Israel would be perfectly happy to see the US and Russia destroy each other, leaving Israel and her nuclear weapons in control of the Middle East.

Either you will choose to fight against these tyrants now, or you will soon have no choice but to fight for them from now on.

New US narco-strategy may pay Afghan farmers to grow nothing

One short-term component of the not-yet-approved plan would go so far as to pay Afghan farmers to simply grow nothing while NATO forces work to pry the country’s economy off the opium trade, an unnamed source told the Times.

No cost-estimates for this proposed counter-narcotics welfare were produced by the unnamed official.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How does this get funded from a country on the brink of federal fiscal bankruptcy?

One has to wonder: if there had really been a will toward eradication, it would have happened by now.

Obama’s drug czar: Marijuana ‘has no medical benefit’

Even though Kerlikowske’s former city is famously tolerant of marijuana — which is less harmful and less addictive than America’s most popular, legal intoxicant, alcohol — that did not stop America’s new drug czar from demeaning the president’s position on medicinal use, telling a crowd in Fresno, California on Wednesday that marijuana is “dangerous” and “has no medical benefit,” according to The Fresno Bee.

He has no medical training and did not qualify his statements with any opinions from medical professionals.

The Serving Armies of The Standing Bankers.

Why then do seemingly intelligent people resist the obvious truth? Let’s give an example of a personality type. Let’s take a man who went to war in Vietnam or Iraq under the illusion that he was fulfilling some patriotic duty to a democratic country. We’ve since learned that the Vietnam War and the Iraq War, like nearly all wars, were the brain child of bankers who initiated them for profit. Let’s consider that the so-called democratic country is not, in fact, a democratic country but a serf nation in fealty to a collection of bankers called The Federal Reserve. All of the representatives of this serf nation are employed by the bank and serve at the pleasure of the bank. John Steinbeck illustrated the nature of the bank in his wonderful novel, “The Grapes of Wrath”.

New tool uses Facebook to improve Israel's image

The realization that young people are increasingly living life through their Facebook accounts recently gave birth to a new and potentially powerful tool in the fight for Israel's image. Observing this phenomenon, a group of 23 students from Jerusalem's Hebrew University came up with a small application which uses the Facebook "status line" to inform hundreds of thousands of users at any given moment about positive facts about Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And what if the users and creators of facebook need the status line for something else? Or does what they want simply not figure into this?

The arrogance displayed here; that Facebook exists for their personal benefit and use, is astounding, and lies right at the heart of why so many people are becoming angry with Israel.

Frankly, if my Facebook starts spouting Israeli propaganda at me, I will probably stop using it.

Cruel, but Necessary

With all the current rhetoric out of Washington regarding an Israeli settlement freeze in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, we wanted to gauge public opinion on the streets of Jerusalem on a sunny, Sunday afternoon last weekend. What we found was shocking but unsurprising. The ease with which most Americans and Israelis, young and old, spouted racist and uncompromising comments about Arabs, settlements and Israeli conduct was a raw manifestation of the barriers to the peace process.

U.S. stops giving militant death tolls in Afghanistan

U.S. military officials in Afghanistan have halted the practice of releasing the number of militants killed in fighting with American-led forces as part of an overall strategy shift that emphasizes concern for the local civilian population's well-being rather than hunting insurgent groups.

The change is part of the focus on making the Afghan population feel "safer" and comes as U.S. commanders are taking new steps to avoid civilian casualties.

The changes come as the Obama administration is adjusting the U.S. role in Afghanistan. A troop buildup is expected to boost the number of U.S. military personnel in the country to 68,000 by year's end.

Authorities arrest 44 in N.J. corruption case

A two-year corruption and international money-laundering investigation stretching from the New Jersey shore to Brooklyn to Israel and Switzerland culminated in charges against 44 people yesterday, including three New Jersey mayors, two state assemblymen, and five rabbis, authorities said.

Much of the cash came from Israel, where a man arrested as part of the inquiry yesterday said he obtained the money from a Swiss banker, prosecutors said. Another man in Brooklyn, Levy-Izhak Rosenbaum, was accused of enticing vulnerable people to give up a kidney for $10,000 and then selling the organ for $160,000.

I was never so much into giving Obama a “chance” and I think it’s way past time to call Obama and his supporters out, like we called Bush and his supporters out. Our Presidents are merely puppets for the Robber Class and Obama is no exception.

Besides foreign policy where he is a complete disaster, it appears Obama’s jobs program is little more than adding tens of thousands of troops to an already bloated military, instead of bringing troops home from anywhere. Billions will go to the money trap of the Pentagon to invest in recruiting, where the budgets of peace groups who do counter recruitment are tanking.

It may seem silly, but the singular fact about freedom is that having it means you have the God given right to ruin your own health without government saying you can’t, or standing in your way to get the medical care you need to fix your own mess. It's called Apophis. It's 390m wide. And it could hit Earth in 31 years' time

In Egyptian myth, Apophis was the ancient spirit of evil and destruction, a demon that was determined to plunge the world into eternal darkness.

A fitting name, astronomers reasoned, for a menace now hurtling towards Earth from outerspace. Scientists are monitoring the progress of a 390-metre wide asteroid discovered last year that is potentially on a collision course with the planet, and are imploring governments to decide on a strategy for dealing with it.

Nasa has estimated that an impact from Apophis, which has an outside chance of hitting the Earth in 2036, would release more than 100,000 times the energy released in the nuclear blast over Hiroshima.

Israel Kills Palestinian Boys, Steals Organs For Transplants

The Zionist state has tacitly admitted that doctors at the Israeli forensic institute at Abu Kabir had extracted the vital organs of three Palestinian teenage children killed by the Israeli Army nearly ten days ago.

Zionist Minister of Health Nessim Dahhan said in response to a question by Arab member of the Zionist Parliament 'Knesset', Ahmed Teibi, on Tuesday that he couldn't deny that organs of Palestinian youths and children killed by the Israeli forces were taken out for transplants or scientific research.

Israel has recently become something of a pariah in the transplant world. Without a strong culture of organ donation and under the pressure of angry transplant candidates, the Ministry of Health has refused to crack down on the country’s multi-million dollar business in transplant tourism that arranges junkets from dialysis clinics in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to medical centres in Europe and the United States.
“Why should we Israelis be made to travel to third world clinics to get the kidneys we need to survive from the bodies of peasants, soldiers, or guest workers who may be in worse physical shape than ourselves?” a 71-year-old “kidney buyer” from Tel Aviv asked me rhetorically. “Organs should be seen as a human, not as a national resource.”

Mohammad Srur, who was injured during a protest in Naalin in which two other Palestinian residents of the village were killed, testified before the Goldstone committee along with Jonathan Pollack of the Activists Against the Wall organization.

NJ official steps down amid corruption arrests

The mayors of three New Jersey cities, two state legislators and several rabbis were among more than 40 people arrested Thursday in a sweeping corruption investigation that began as a probe into an international money laundering ring that trafficked in goods as diverse as human organs and fake designer handbags.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the investigation initially focused, with the help of the cooperating witness, on the money laundering network that operated between Brooklyn, Deal, N.J. and Israel. The network is alleged to have laundered tens of millions of dollars through charities controlled by rabbis in New York and New Jersey.

Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said he has heard of the story but knows nothing of kidneys being sold by Israelis.

Webmaster's Commentary:

... which is a non-denial denial.

This is shaping up to be a modern-day horror story.

What are Obama’s investments in biotech companies apparently developing the “bird” and “swine” flu vaccine?

George W. Bush announced the International Partnership on Avian and Pandemic Influenza at the United Nations General Assembly on September 14, 2005, placing the US under UN and WHO law in the event of a pandemic “emergency”.

Earlier that year, in April, 2005, Barack Obama introduced the first comprehensive bill to deal with the bird flu threat, the Avian act. According to reports, Obama made significant investments in biotech companies involved in the development of bird and swine flu.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In theory, Obama's investments are in a blind trust and can be anywhere, but as we learned in the Clinton years, Presidents have a way of avoiding that blind trust requirement!

Dozens Arrested in New Jersey Corruption Probe

Weysan Dun, special agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Newark office, said more than 300 FBI and Internal Revenue Service agents began making arrests and executing search warrants at 6 a.m. Thursday. Those arrested in the corruption probe include Mayors Peter Cammarano III of Hoboken, Dennis Elwell of Secaucus and Anthony Suarez of Ridgefield, all Democrats; Leona Beldini, one of three deputy mayors of Jersey City, also a Democrat; and state Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt, a Republican.

The money-laundering portion of the investigation swept up several rabbis in New York and New Jersey, according to Ralph Marra Jr., acting U.S. attorney for New Jersey.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OKay, there is the confirmation that this case involves the black market sale of body parts.

Anyone missing any homeless people in those neighborhoods???

Credit Card Companies Placing Financial Landmines for American Consumers: How I lost my 4.99 Percent Fixed Rate and got it Back.

Americans have a love affair with credit cards. Many Americans have more credit cards in their wallets than they do dollar bills. When 8,000,000 credit cards were yanked from circulation many consumers realized that this was a new era of austerity.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It's weird. Some companies are yanking credit cards while at the same time we continue to be inundated with offers for new credit cards.

Total mindless chaos.

The new offers go into the shredder.

Global Warming or Global Cooling? A New Trend in Climate Alarmism

This is the new trend in climate alarmism. Previously the measure of global warming has always been air temperatures. But all the satellite data says air temperatures have been in a mild down trend starting 2002. The land thermometers preferred by the alarmists showed warming until 2006, but even they show a cooling trend developing since then.

'Hitler' gnome acquitted

A visitor to the gallery objected and lodged a complaint that Hoerl had violated German laws prohibiting the reproduction of Nazi symbols or slogans. News of the "Nazi gnome" promptly went around the world.

The prosecutors in Nuremberg said they would not put Hoerl on trial because he was obviously mocking the Nazis, not honouring them, and had made the gnomes as art. Gnomes used to be popular as garden decorations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One of the problems with these "visitors" is that they forget that they ARE just visitors and being allowed through the front door does not grant a right to decide for everyone else present what they should and should not see.

I had the same problem with my first mother-in-law, who would come over to visit my first wife and I then proceed to lecture us about how the place would look so much better with this or that artsy item placed just so and how certain items from my family really ought to go, etc. I finally told her to her face that she was a guest in my home, a welcome guest, but still a guest and that decisions on decor were reserved to my wife and myself. From the look of outrage on the mother-in-law's face you would have thought I just relieved myself on her coat; she was THAT sure that it was her right to go into other peoples' homes and offer her recommendations on how things should be. I guess that was part of that unshakable sense of entitlement and superiority that she was raised with.

Tech Gunman's Mental Records Found

The Virginia Tech gunman's missing mental-health records have been found at the home of a former university counseling official more than two years after the bloodbath — a discovery that angered victims' families struggling to understand how the killer fell through the cracks so disastrously.

The belated emergence of Seung-Hui Cho's file, a development disclosed in a memo obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press, represents another embarrassing lapse in the case and raises questions about how such potentially explosive evidence could be lost for so long.

Hundreds planning Temple Mount ascent

Hundreds of right-wing activists are intending to attempt to march up to the Temple Mount next Thursday morning, Tisha Be'Av, in protest of the US demand to cease construction in east Jerusalem.

He said flyers about the protest contained the message that "we'll let Barack Hussein Obama and Binyamin Netanyahu know that we're not moving from here," as well as the words: "Go to the Bible to find out to whom this land belongs!"

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is the potential, extreme danger represented by people who have little men in their heads, who talk only to them.

And please, President Obama: just stop writing the checks, if Israel will not budge on the illegal settlement issue.

The Israeli government has been spitting in your face and telling you it's raining, and that is something no US sitting President should endure...from anyone.
