A light at the end of the pro-Israel tunnel?

If Jeremy Corbyn wins leadership of the UK Labour Party foreign policy could take a turn for the better

Note how the UK Government will not lift a finger to break the crippling 8-year siege of Gaza or protect humanitarian flotillas from Israeli assault on the high seas, but would happily bomb the hell out of Libya, Syria or anywhere else the US/Israel axis points its finger.

British Royal Nazi Salute – a Sign of the Times

The British royal family is up in arms – excuse the pun – over old video footage that shows the young Queen Elizabeth giving a Heil Hitler salute. A photograph published on its front page by British tabloid newspaper The Sun has caused a storm of controversy, with the British monarchy denouncing it as an invasion of privacy. But the real significance is that the image shows how Western so-called democracies were – and still are – so close to embracing fascism.

There was a consensus among Britain’s ruling class during the 1930s that quietly but enthusiastically endorsed Hitler and fascism as a bulwark against democracy and socialism in particular.

ICC judges order new probe of Israeli massacre on Mavi Marmara

A panel of judges has ordered the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague to review her decision not to investigate Israel’s lethal attack on an aid flotilla to Gaza five years ago.

The judges said that Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda had made serious errors in an earlier decision not to pursue the case.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Fatou didn't make any mistakes. Israel made her an offer to drop the case and she accepted!

The Chattanooga Event Is a CIA/ISIS False Flag Operation

With regard to this event coinciding with Jade Helm, do you think this makes American soldiers, everywhere, more or less likely to carry out heinous acts against American citizens when ordered to do so, with regard to the Jade Helm drill?

People, in the name of self-preservation will do the unthinkable! I have just suggested one possible motive. And where we see ISIS involvement, the CIA is not far away. No doubt, some will say that the last statement is too conspiratorial. However, let me remind you that I have twice interviewed Scott Bennett and this operation has the CIA’s fingerprints all over it.

ISIS Is Funded By the CIA and Scott Bennett Can Can Prove It: ISIS is funded by the CIA, so says Scott Bennett who was a U.S. Army Special Operations Officer (11th Psychological Operations Battalion, Civil Affairs-Psychological Operations Command), and a global psychological warfare-counterterrorism analyst, formerly with defense contractor Booz Allen Hamilton.

Retired General: Drones Create More Terrorists Than They Kill, Iraq War Helped Create ISIS

Retired Army Gen. Mike Flynn, a top intelligence official in the post-9/11 wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, says in a forthcoming interview on Al Jazeera English that the drone war is creating more terrorists than it is killing. He also asserts that the U.S. invasion of Iraq helped create the Islamic State and that U.S. soldiers involved in torturing detainees need to be held legally accountable for their actions.

GAZA ~~ A WINDOW TO HELL

Spending the day of 17 August in Khuzaa was like peering through a window to hell. But what we witnessed in the landscape of apocalyptic oblivion paled in comparison to the experience described to me by two Palestine Red Crescent volunteers who had attempted to break through the Israeli military cordon during the siege of the town.

Twenty-five-year-old Ahmed Awad and 24-year-old Ala’a Alkusofi arrived at the edge of Khuzaa at a time when Red Cross ambulance crews refused to travel anywhere near the town. They said they had come to collect the body of a man whom soldiers had lashed to a tree by both arms and shot in the leg. When they arrived at the site, the soldiers ordered the driver of their ambulance, Muhammed Abadla, to exit the vehicle. When he obliged, they told him to walk five meters forward and switch on a flashlight. As soon as he flicked the light on, the soldiers shot him in the chest and killed him.

Norwegian trauma specialist accuses Israel of ‘violating international law’

A Norwegian trauma specialist and anaesthesiologist who has treated casualties in Gaza has accused Israel of “repetitious violations of international law”.

Dr Mads Gilbert has written two books about his experiences, including the recently published A Night in Gaza. He is giving a presentation in the O’Reilly Theatre in Dublin tonight.

Speaking to The Irish Times, he said he had noticed that with each of the four Israeli assaults on Gaza – in 2006, 2009, 2012 and last year – the intensity and level of brutality had increased.

ISRAELI SPECIAL FORCES ASSASSINATED SENIOR SYRIAN OFFICIAL

On Aug. 1, 2008, a small team of Israeli commandos entered the waters near Tartus, Syria, and shot and killed a Syrian general as he was holding a dinner party at his seaside weekend home. Muhammad Suleiman, a top aide to the Syrian president, was shot in the head and neck, and the Israeli military team escaped by sea. While Israel has never spoken about its involvement, secret U.S. intelligence files confirm that Israeli special operations forces assassinated the general while he vacationed at his luxury villa on the Syrian coast.

Israel’s involvement in Suleiman’s assassination raises questions about both the purpose of the killing, as well as whether Israel violated international law in conducting the operation.

Video debunks Israeli claim in teen’s killing

The Israeli army said Shomer and another soldier had opened fire when the vehicle was damaged, “and in response to the imminent danger”.
But a video distributed by the B’Tselem human rights group, with footage from a surveillance camera at an adjacent gas station, shows a person running towards a military jeep and throwing a stone at it.
The vehicle stops, and two men are seen getting out of it and running out of the frame in pursuit of the stone-thrower.
B’Tselem cited eyewitnesses as saying that Shomer shot Kasba “from a distance of some 10m” and then left the scene without getting medical aid for the teen, who eventually died.

One of the nation’s largest private prison operators is being sued for forcing immigrant detainees to work for a dollar a day, and in some cases even less than that. GEO Group Inc., which contracts with the government to imprison illegal immigrants awaiting deportation proceedings, has allegedly forced detainees held at its facility in Colorado to do maintenance work while paying them only $1 a day. The chores included cleaning toilets, showers, windows and floors; doing laundry, clerical and landscape work; operating the law library; plus preparing and serving meals for GEO law enforcement events, according to ThinkProgress.

Remembering Gaza’s victims

Documenting Israel’s military assault on Gaza last summer, I witnessed what can only be called atrocities: hospitals and morgues, overwhelmed by the constant flow of casualties; nights of terror under widespread and indiscriminate bombing; attacks on hospitals, ambulances and United Nations schools used as shelters; entire neighborhoods destroyed.

Of all the horrifying statistics, one is particularly shocking: 142 families lost three members or more in single Israeli strikes. I started the project #ObliteratedFamilies — now available for download and exhibitioning all over the world — to document such loss. It began as a project about the victims, but soon became also a project about the survivors. How can one cope with loss on this scale?

Webmaster's Commentary:

Now that a deal has been reached with Iran, Netanyahu has a real problem. The world's attention will shift back to Israel's war crimes, and Israel's nuclear weapons.

The Lincoln controversy…

As Thomas DiLorenzo and a number of non-court historians have conclusively established, Lincoln did not invade the Confederacy in order to free the slaves. The Emancipation Proclamation did not occur until 1863 when opposition in the North to the war was rising despite Lincoln’s police state measures to silence opponents and newspapers. The Emancipation Proclamation was a war measure issued under Lincoln’s war powers. The proclamation provided for the emancipated slaves to be enrolled in the Union army replenishing its losses. It was also hoped that the proclamation would spread slave revolts in the South while southern white men were away at war and draw soldiers away from the fronts in order to protect their women and children. The intent was to hasten the defeat of the South before political opposition to Lincoln in the North grew stronger.

The bin Laden death mythology

The White House’s story of how US special forces hunted down and assassinated arch terrorist Osama bin Laden in his secret lair in Pakistan is unraveling.

The official narrative of the bin Laden raid is that for over a decade, US intelligence hunted for the terror chief until a surveillance/torture-enabled breakthrough tracked him to a secret compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. On 1st May 2011, US Navy Seals entered the compound and assassinated him in a furious firefight.

The operation demonstrated how far the US military intelligence community had come since the days of 9/11, proving how its disparate agencies had now developed a tremendous capacity to share and process often obscure intelligence data, to guide precision covert counter-terror missions.

After killing bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader was buried at sea. When the raid was officially announced, Pakistan, a key US ally in the fight against al-Qaeda, was incensed at the US operation on its own soil.

Activists call on Oprah Winfrey to distance herself from Leviev over human rights abuses

To commemorate her magazine’s 15th anniversary, US megastar talk show host and social justice philanthropist Oprah Winfrey glammed out wearing pearl-shaped 69 carat Leviev diamond earrings on the cover of the May 2015 edition of O, the Oprah Magazine. Shortly thereafter the communications director at OWN, Chelsea Hettrick, told an Adalah-NY representative that Winfrey was reviewing the letter, and that her team would respond soon. They didn’t. Hettrick has since failed to reply to further calls and emails from Adalah-NY.

BEX ALERT ~~ ISRAELI ‘NON-VIOLENCE’ DOCUMENTED ON VIDEO

Contrary to Israeli claims that the Marianne was taken peacefully, this video shows that armed commandos used brutal violence against unarmed passengers aboard the Gaza-bound boat early on Monday.

According to the organizers of the flotilla, 14 of the 18 civilian passengers and crew remain in Israeli custody more than two days after they were violently abducted in international waters to prevent them breaking the Israeli-imposed siege on Gaza.

Palestinian citizen of Israel and member of the Israeli parliament Basel Ghattas, former Tunisian president Moncef Marzouki, Spanish European Parliament member Ana Miranda and Israeli journalist Ohad Hemo have been released.

The other passengers remain in detention at Givon prison in present-day Israel.

CRUELANDALL-TOO-USUAL

Warning: THIS VIDEO IS VERY, VERY GRAPHIC, AND VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED:

Jamie, whose mother was addicted to crack cocaine, was adopted when she was 3. At high school, she fell in with a wayward crowd and started drinking and smoking weed. Since she didn't always get along with her adoptive mom, she lived with a close family friend from her church whom she referred to as her sister. One fall day in 2011, they got into a bad fight over their living arrangements. The friend told police that Jamie threw a brick at her, hitting her in the chest, and then banged the brick so hard on the front door that she broke the glass mail chute. Jamie denies the assault—and the police report notes that the brick may not have hit her friend—but she admitted to officers that she was “mad” and “trying to get back in the house.” The Wayne County court gave her two concurrent six-month sentences, for assault and destruction of a building.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Welcome to the world of juvenile detention in the US, a broken system engineered to create a staggering rate of recidivism.

No child should ever be thrown away and forgotten, in a system which absolutely doesn't work.

Enlightened countries, like Sweden, are closing a number of their prisons, because they don't have enough prisoners to house. Also, the sole focus of incarceration in Sweden is rehabilitation, so that when the inmate is released, they will have job skills, and an ability to move forward with their lives.

There are a lot of Jamies in this country; kids who wind up with their lives ruined from one completely stupid mistake.

IF the USA could get men on the moon, this country do far better by its juvenile prisoners, if there is a will to do so.

COP WHO TORTURED HANDCUFFED MAN HAD PRIOR RECORD OF ATTACKING PEOPLE

In 2009 Colorado police officer Mark Magness broke an innocent man's arm during an illegal fireworks investigation. Magness pleaded guilty but the police department didn't fire him. Now that a video has been released that shows officer Magness horrifically torturing a handcuffed man who was also tied to a chair in December 2014, the department might be wondering if they made the wrong decision to keep Magness on the force.

The man, who is now fairly agitated after being assaulted while in handcuffs is thrown into the cell. He then makes a mistake and raises his open hand toward Magness.

At this point, Magness jumps on the man and begins pummeled him. Magness, knowing that his body camera is recording this abuse, continues to yell out, “Stop Resisting!” throughout the abuse in an attempt to justify his torturous ways.
It gets worse from there.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ah, but you see: THIS is the new normal for police departments in the US.

Training by the IDF makes American cops look at their fellow and sister citizens as though they were Palestinians.

This is how "to protect and serve" is interpreted now.

Calling the police, for ANY ISSUE, can now be hazardous to your health, or the health of your family and pets.

Please, just be smart and don't do it.

The Problem With Human Rights Organizations

When Israel is criticized about its rights-abusive policies in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the refrain most often heard among local politicians is that the government’s hasbara—the Israeli propaganda machine—is inadequate. The problem, in other words, is not what Israel actually does to the Palestinians, but rather the inability to get its positive message across to the international community. This is usually referred to as “rebranding Israel”. The underlying assumption here is that the merchandise is fine, and only the packaging needs to be replaced.

Millions of children face disease, malnutrition in war-torn Yemen: U.N.

Escalating violence in Yemen has devastated the country's health system and exposed millions of children to the threat of preventable diseases including measles, pneumonia and diarrhea, the United Nations children's agency UNICEF said on Tuesday.

Since fighting intensified in March, many hospitals and health centers have been unable to function properly and vaccination services have been disrupted, according to UNICEF.

Health centers lack the electricity and fuel needed to distribute vaccines and keep them cold, while the fear of conflict is deterring parents from taking their children to receive vaccinations, the U.N. agency said.

Israel deports former Tunisian president to France

Following Israel's hijacking of the Gaza-bound ship Marianne in international waters on Monday, Arab-Israeli Basel Ghattas MK has been released from custody and former Tunisian President Moncef Al-Marzouki has been deported to France, reported Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

Sixteen foreign nationals were on board the vessel, along with two Israelis, Ghattas and a television reporter. The MK could face a parliamentary hearing to see whether he should face sanctions or not. He revealed that MEP Ana Miranda was also deported along with Al-Marzouki.

According to Ghattas, the Israeli navy intercepted the Marianne at 2am local time and the crew turned the engines off, refusing to cooperate with the Israelis. By 7am, the navy was towing the ship towards Ashdod. "The Israelis confiscated all of the activists' personal belongings, including mobile phones and other equipment," he said. The deep racism of imperial intervention

Racism in western societies is often spoken of as something involving simple discrimination or prejudice. Yet the most profound racism has always been generated and sustained by imperialism, including colonial rule and, in the post-colonial era, imperial intervention.
Tim Anderson
Denying the very existence and integrity of other peoples requires ideologies of systematic exclusion and dehumanisation. That denial is implicit in every coup, proxy war or invasion, under whatever pretext, carried out either for 'regime change' or to divide and weaken those peoples not well embedded in the imperial orbit.

CIA photos of ‘black sites’ could complicate Guantanamo trials

Military prosecutors this year learned about a massive cache of CIA photographs of its former overseas “black sites” while reviewing material collected for the Senate investigation of the agency’s interrogation program, U.S. officials said.

The existence of the approximately 14,000 photographs will probably cause yet another delay in the military commissions at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as attorneys for the defendants demand that all the images be turned over and the government wades through the material to decide what it thinks is relevant to the proceedings.

Defense attorneys said they have not yet been informed about the photographs and said it is unacceptable that they should come to light now, more than three years after the arraignment of Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four other defendants accused of planning the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to those defending these men: a delay is what the CIA, White House, Pentagon, and State Department want!

And the reason I am certain of this is that, for some of these men, waterboarding was not the worst thing done to these men to get them to confess.

As reported in theguardian.com, on 1 August, 2005:

Benyam Mohammed travelled from London to Afghanistan in July 2001, but after September 11 he fled to Pakistan. He was arrested at Karachi airport on April 10 2002, and describes being flown by a US government plane to a prison in Morocco. These are extracts from his diary. They cut off my clothes with some kind of doctor's scalpel. I was naked. I tried to put on a brave face. But maybe I was going to be raped. Maybe they'd electrocute me. Maybe castrate me. They took the scalpel to my right chest. It was only a small cut. Maybe an inch. At first I just screamed ... I was just shocked, I wasn't expecting ... Then they cut my left chest. This time I didn't want to scream because I knew it was coming. One of them took my penis in his hand and began to make cuts. He did it once, and they stood still for maybe a minute, watching my reaction. I was in agony. They must have done this 20 to 30 times, in maybe two hours. There was blood all over. "I told you I was going to teach you who's the man," [one] eventually said. They cut all over my private parts. One of them said it would be better just to cut it off, as I would only breed terrorists. I asked for a doctor. Doctor No 1 carried a briefcase. "You're all right, aren't you? But I'm going to say a prayer for you." Doctor No 2 gave me an Alka-Seltzer for the pain. I told him about my penis. "I need to see it. How did this happen?" I told him. He looked like it was just another patient. "Put this cream on it two times a day. Morning and night." He gave me some kind of antibiotic. I was in Morocco for 18 months. Once they began this, they would do it to me about once a month. One time I asked a guard: "What's the point of this? I've got nothing I can say to them. I've told them everything I possibly could." "As far as I know, it's just to degrade you. So when you leave here, you'll have these scars and you'll never forget. So you'll always fear doing anything but what the US wants."

Folks, in the name of extracting confessions through torture for stuff people did not do, your government signed off on torture, and made it "acceptible" for inquisitors to do this, just as the Catholic church wrote off torture years ago, and made it acceptible for torturers in those times to torture people into confessing to things they didn't do.

This goes all the way up the food chain, and when President Obama made that obscene comment about "looking forward instead of looking backward" comment about the legal ramifications of torture, and that the unholy trinity of Bush, Rumsfeld, and Cheney would never be looking at prosecution for their crimes against humanity, you had to know that the fix was in.

The torture of Benyam Mohammed for crimes he did not commit is how the world now sees the United States of America; wicked, monstrous, vicious in its pursuit of money and resources for the money junkies, and with absolutely zero morality whatsoever.

Every time a US drone strike is called against some alleged bad guy who apparently cannot possibly be tried in a court of law (perhaps, there is no real evidence, other than the President having said, "he needs to be assassinated!") the collateral damage to the moral reputation of this country becomes highly severe.

This government kills innocent people, women, children, and the elderly medically infirm, with impunity, and wonders how and why people can become radicalized against this violence?!?

The drone strikes, coupled with the US government's support of countries where we maintain a cozy relationship with leadership which consistently brutalizes and suppresses its own people, are a radical recruiter's wet dream.

But I frankly do not believe that this has been lost on those in the bowels of power in DC. In fact, they are continuing the practice of drown strikes to create a permanent state of war in this world, where the true beneficial is the US's military industrial complex.

Gitmo Prisoner, Hunger-Striking for Nine Years, Cleared for Release

A U.S. government review board said Friday that Abdul Rahman Shalabi, a prisoner who has been on a nine-year hunger strike at the U.S. base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, has been cleared to return to his native Saudi Arabia.

Shalabi, one of the first prisoners brought to Guantánamo in January 2002, was never charged with a crime. The government said he had been a bodyguard for Osama bin Laden and had links to al Qaeda's external operations chief, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is facing trial by military commission at Guantánamo.

FLASHBACK - Israel, Genocide, and the ‘Logic’ of Zionism

History is full of ironies: World War I, marketed to Americans as a "war to end all wars," paved the way for an even more massive slaughter. The invasion and conquest of Iraq – which was supposed to augur what George W. Bush hailed as a "global democratic revolution" – instead ushered in a new era of chaos, bloodshed, and tyranny in the region. And in the year 2014, the state of Israel, founded in large part as a reaction to the Holocaust, has embarked on a policy of genocide in Gaza.

The Israelis and their international amen corner are increasingly open about this: a recent article in the Times of Israel – since taken down – was quite explicit in averring that Israel’s "right of self-defense" includes the option of wiping out the entire population of Gaza:

It is becoming more and more apparent that the Islamic State for Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), or “Daesh” as it is known in Arabic, or ISIS – the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham — preferred by Israel supporters because of the uncomforting similarity between “Israel” and “ISIL” – is part of another Central Intelligence Agency operation to artificially create a new “strategy of tensions” for the Eurasian and African land masses.

FRENCH SPIES SECRETLY ORGANIZED AND FUNDED THE LIBYAN REBELS, ACCORDING TO CONFIDENTIAL EMAILS TO HILLARY CLINTON

French spies secretly organized and funded the Libyan rebels who defeated Moammar Gadhafi, according to confidential emails to Hillary Clinton that were made public on June 22. According to one entry from March 22, 2011, “officers” with the General Directorate for External Security — the French intelligence service — “began a series of secret meetings” with Jalil and Gen. Abdul Fatah Younis in Benghazi in late February and gave them “money and guidance” to set up the council, whose formation was announced Feb. 27. The officers, “speaking under orders from [Sarkozy] promised that as soon as the [council] was organized France would recognize [it] as the new government of Libya.”

Today I Saw a Weeping Palestinian Man Holding a Plastic Bag of Meat: It Was His Son

I sense I’m breaking an unspoken rule with this letter, but I can’t keep quiet any more.

Today I saw a picture of a weeping Palestinian man holding a plastic carrier bag of meat. It was his son. He’d been shredded (the hospital’s word) by an Israeli missile attack – apparently using their fab new weapon, flechette bombs. You probably know what those are – hundreds of small steel darts packed around explosive which tear the flesh off humans. The boy was Mohammed Khalaf al-Nawasra. He was 4 years old.

I suddenly found myself thinking that it could have been one of my kids in that bag, and that thought upset me more than anything has for a long time.

Then I read that the UN had said that Israel might be guilty of war crimes in Gaza, and they wanted to launch a commission into that. America won’t sign up to it.

What is going on in America?

New evidence from 1967 war reveals Israeli atrocities

In the wake of the June 1967 war, the Israeli author Amos Oz, then a reserve soldier in the Israeli army, together with a friend collated interviews with Israeli soldiers who participated in the war and asked them about the emotions the fighting triggered in them. The interviews were published as a book titled Conversations with Soldiers, more popularly referred at the time by my generation as the ”shooting and crying” book.

The military censor (a function that still exists today, held recently by the present minister of culture, Miri Regev), erased 70 percent of the evidence since he claimed it would have harmed Israel’s international image.

THE UN’s BLURRED VISION

Israel systematically targeted Palestinian residential buildings and infrastructure without any apparent military justification. The horror of what Israel did, detailed in the 183-page report, cannot be adequately summarized here.

In total, 2,251 Palestinians were killed, including 1,462 Palestinian civilians, among them 551 children, the report states. More than 11,000 Palestinians, including 3,540 women and 3,436 children, were injured with almost 10 percent suffering permanent disabilities.

Six civilians died in Israel and more than 60 Israeli soldiers died in fighting with the Palestinian resistance.

But a key finding is that the mass destruction and killing inflicted by Israel, often amounting to war crimes, “may have constituted military tactics reflective of a broader policy, approved at least tacitly by decision-makers at the highest levels of the Government of Israel.”

'Anti-Israel mandate': UN human rights envoy blocked from entering Gaza

Israeli authorities have admitted they blocked a UN human rights envoy from entering the occupied Gaza area for a second year in a row, just as a UN report on last year’s Gaza war is about to be made public.

"We didn't allow this visit," said Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon, as cited by AFP. The visit by the UN special rapporteur on human rights, Makarim Wibisono, was due to take place last week.

However, according to Nahshon, the decision doesn’t go against Israel’s commitments to the UN. “Israel cooperates with all the international commissions and all rapporteurs, except when the mandate handed to them is anti-Israeli and Israel has no chance to make itself heard."

Senate votes to ban use of torture

The Senate on Tuesday overwhelmingly voted to ban the U.S. from ever again subjecting prisoners to waterboarding, “rectal feeding” and other brutal interrogation practices widely condemned as torture.

In a 78-21 vote, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle supported a new prohibition on "enhanced interrogation" practices and other novel detention methods.

“We must continue to insist that the methods we employ in this fight for peace and freedom must always, always, be as right and honorable as the goals and ideals we fight for,” said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), chairman of the Armed Services Committee and an author of the amendment.
“Our enemies act without conscience. We must not.”

CIA DIRECTOR BRENNAN DENOUNCED BY PROFS AT HIS ALMA MATER OVER TORTURE SCANDAL

A cohort of faculty at Fordham University dedicated to opposing torture have vehemently denounced CIA Director John Brennan for defending enhanced interrogation techniques used in the wake of Sept. 11 and have pledged to continue their criticisms of Brennan in the coming school year.

Brennan, an alumnus of Fordham who in 1977 earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at the private Jesuit university in New York, was also given an honorary degree by the college in 2012 when he was commencement speaker there.

At the time, his address received some protest, with one graduate launching a Change.org petition calling for Brennan’s removal as speaker, and roughly 10 to 15 audience members turning their backs to Brennan during his talk, according to the Fordham Ram campus newspaper.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Go.......FORDHAM!! At last, we have some people in academia beginning to oppose what has been going on for so many years in the Federal government.

He said that soldiers brutally attacked him and threw him on the floor before sending him back to jail without taking him to hospital.

John Oliver and Helen Mirren destroy Americans’ fairy-tale belief in torture with horrifying children’s tales

On HBO’s Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver took up the unpleasant, and unfortunately mostly ignored, topic of torture in America done under the auspices of the CIA.

Noting that the Senate Intelligence Committee released a 6,700-page investigation of torture, with a 500-page version available to the public, Oliver sought to explain that Americans need to read the available version because they have been “dangerously misinformed” about torture.

With a CBS poll showing the 69 percent of Americans believing that waterboarding is torture and 57 percent believing “aggressive” interrogation techniques help stop terrorist attacks, Oliver set out to point out that not only doesn’t torture work — it may make a comeback since it is only restricted by executive order, which can be tossed out by the next president.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When the US government tortures, or outsources torture, the following happens.

1. The world understands that those values of human decency, democracy, and human rights are only words, and not respected values by this country's government.
2. That every US politician who uses these words, and then backs torture, is a hypocrite of the highest order.
3. The use of torture by the US gives carte blanche to any world leader who doesn't much like us to do the same to American citizens or American military.

Please chew on this last one for awhile, particularly if you have friends or family serving in the US military.

CIA torture appears to have broken spy agency rule on human experimentation

CIA director George Tenet approved abusive interrogation techniques, including waterboarding, designed by CIA contractor psychologists. He further instructed the agency’s health personnel to oversee the brutal interrogations – the beginning of years of controversy, still ongoing, about US torture as a violation of medical ethics.

But the revelation of the guidelines has prompted critics of CIA torture to question how the agency could have ever implemented what it calls “enhanced interrogation techniques” – despite apparently having rules against “research on human subjects” without their informed consent.

“the Israeli electorate is still dominated by hyper-nationalist, in some cases proto-fascist, figures. It is no way inclined to make peace. It has given a clear mandate for policies … that will further deepen Israel’s colonial venture.”

The Israeli Wehrmacht on 11 June razed Palestinian-owned agricultural land in the village of Wadi Fuqeen, west of Bethlehem, to pave the way for an expansion of nearby Jewish squatter colonies, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reports.

The Case Against Re-Banning Torture Yet Again, Again

Senator McCain and friends have a new push on to once again ban torture (except for exceptions in the Army Field Manual) that is being presented as an effort to preempt future Republican presidents’ torturing. This reinforces two false beliefs. One is that torture is not ongoing today under President Peace Prize. The other is that torture wasn’t banned before George W. CHILD ABUSE ~~ WHAT THE UN REFUSES TO SEE

Israeli Military Torturing Palestinian Children ~viewer discretion~

THE UN WAS RIGHT! ISRAEL DOES NOT ABUSE CHILDREN, IT JUST MURDERS THEM!

Throughout its unglamorous history, the UN issued many scandalous reports and adopted many scandalous resolutions reflecting lack of justice and absence of moral honesty. This ever-existing symptom also reflected western hegemony over the international organization.

However, none of these reports and resolutions seems more scandalous than this week’s report which kept Israel off the List of Shame, which includes states and entities that abuse children.

This particular report is manifestly scandalous precisely because Israel is probably one of the most obscene abusers of children under the sun.

Indeed, there are a few countries in this world that can be compared to Israel in this respect.

Israel Seeks to Criminalize Criticism

As a consequence, Israel’s credibility with an increasing number of people in the West has eroded. This erosion led to a relatively short period of time in the early 2000s when the Zionists attempted to counter the situation by engaging with their critics in public debate. However, the majority of time they lost.

Israel’s barbarous behavior on the ground, combined with the fact that their historical version of events was shown to be full of holes, condemned them to an increasingly weak defensive position. This proved to be intolerable to the Zionists, so they withdrew from the debating field.

And, as they did, they began to level charges of anti-Semitism against their critics, even those who are Jewish. These accusations of the worst sort of racism have been with us ever since – which is really ironic because much of what Israel is being criticized for is its own racist, apartheid nature.
