10 reasons why the DHS shutdown is the best thing that will never happen

Alissa Kokkins

With the House set to debate a Department of Homeland Security funding bill to avert the looming DHS shutdown today, mainstream media is doing its usual thing with the DHS narrative. Story after story about the DHS shutdown from mainstream media is angled with doom and drama. Gasp! If DHS shuts down, whatever shall we do? Who is to blame? Democrats or Republicans? As usual, the most important point is being overlooked by MSM:

A DHS shutdown would be fucking awesome!...

Exxon Mobil Settles $9 Billion New Jersey Environmental Case for $250 Million

A long-fought legal battle to recover $8.9 billion in damages from Exxon Mobil Corporation for the contamination and loss of use of more than 1,500 acres of wetlands, marshes, meadows and waters in northern New Jersey has been quietly settled by the state for around $250 million.

The lawsuits, filed by the State Department of Environmental Protection in 2004, had been litigated by the administrations of four New Jersey governors, finally advancing last year to trial. By then, Exxon’s liability was no longer in dispute; the only issue was how much it would pay in damages.

The stakes were high, given the enormous cost the state’s experts had placed on restoring and replacing the resources damaged by decades of oil refining and other petrochemical operations, as well as of the public’s loss of use of the land.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder who, and for how much, got the damages reduced so incredibly, given the damage done.

The American government; the best government money can buy, ever!!!

Berkeley Bans Police Drones, Taking Other Steps to Demilitarize Cops

Josh Paniagua
Activist Post

On Tuesday morning, I woke up to news of a Berkeley City Council meeting that would pass or reject a 2-year moratorium on the use of drones by the city happening later in the afternoon. By the evening, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that City Council had indeed passed a one-year ban on police drones and referred recommendations on remodeling community-police relations to the city manager.

During the 1-year suspension, City Council has pledged to work toward developing appropriate policies regarding city use of unmanned aircraft. While this may come as good news to some, vice chair of Berkeley’s Peace and Justice Commission Robert Meola was a bit disappointed...

Hillary Clinton Exposed Part 2 – Clinton Foundation Took Millions From Countries That Also Fund ISIS

The Gulf monarchs didn’t attain absolute power by being teddy bears. They are devious, ruthless experts in playing one side against the other. Incredibly, many of these same countries allowing funds to flow to ISIS were simultaneously padding the coffers of the Clinton Foundation, while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State. The Washington Post reports:

The Clinton Foundation accepted millions of dollars from seven foreign governments during Hillary Rodham Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state, including one donation that violated its ethics agreement with the Obama administration, foundation officials disclosed Wednesday.

Most of the contributions were possible because of exceptions written into the foundation’s 2008 agreement, which included limits on foreign-government donations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Hey, what a relief to know that Hillary Clinton CAN be held accountable; at least, to the highest foreign bidder!! :-)

Liquidation looms for insurance cooperative

An insurance cooperative created to provide health care in Iowa and Nebraska will be formally liquidated this weekend.

Iowa Insurance Commissioner Nick Gerhart said Thursday that a Polk County judge has agreed to approve the liquidation plan, which will be finalized on Saturday night.

CoOportunity is a federally funded nonprofit established to provide health care in Iowa and Nebraska. Gerhart took the cooperative over after he determined the nonprofit’s claims would exceed its available cash.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We will see more of these. The more-costly Obamacare policies come with sky-high deductibles, which means they don't really pay that much for your health care. The costs that used to be covered by the major health insurance companies that wrote the ACA are now being shifted onto supplemental insurance programs, which are then driven into bankruptcy.

Thank you, Obamacare!

The Death of Diana (audio of interview with author John Morgan)

The show begins with a look at the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, in Paris, which provides the standard "mainstream media" account of the accident and its circumstances. It follows with an extensive interview with John Morgan, who is the world's leading expert on her death, which makes clear that this was not an automobile accident but a cleverly-planned assassination. John Morgan reveals that the crash in the tunnel appears to have been orchestrated by MI6 on the orders of senior British Royals. Princess Diana survived the crash but was brutally murdered by deliberate mistreatment in the ambulance by people who were supposed to be saving her. His book, How They Murdered Princess Diana, shows that the 2007-8 London inquest into the deaths – headed by Lord Justice Scott Baker – was one of the most inept and corrupt inquests in the history of the British judicial system.

Israel’s opposition leader, Isaac Herzog, has called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cancel his planned speech to the US Congress early next month, warning that the move would do “strategic damage” to the relations between Tel Aviv and Washington.

Israel attorney general orders probe on Netanyahu

The Israeli attorney general has ordered a preliminary investigation into alleged financial misconduct at the private home and state residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The evidence collected from Netanyahu’s official Jerusalem al-Quds residence and his private home, and the testimonies of a former employee at the residence contributed to the decision, the office of Yehuda Weinstein said in a statement on Thursday.

The attorney general’s office “believes that the variety of affairs justifies a probe, at the end of which it will be decided whether to launch a criminal investigation,” the statement added.

The attorney’s office reviewed “a number of cases in which evidence has been collected and raised suspicions that actions constituting criminal offenses took place,” according to the statement.

Ron Paul: Internet, RIP?

Today the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), a non-elected federal government agency, voted three-to-two to reclassify broadband Internet as a common carrier service under Title II of the Communications Act. While the neoconservatives were preoccupied for a decade with their wars in the Middle East, creating a US Africa Command, organizing color revolutions, exiting disarmament treaties, surrounding Russia with military bases, and “pivoting to Asia” to surround China with new air and naval bases, Vladimir Putin led Russia back to economic and military competence and successfully asserted an independent Russian foreign policy.

When Russian diplomacy blocked Washington’s planned invasion of Syria and Washington’s planned bombing of Iran, the neoconservatives realized that they had failed the “first objective” of the Wolfowitz Doctrine and had allowed “the re-emergence of a new rival . . . on the territory of the former Soviet Union” with the power to block unilateral action by Washington.

“None of the Above”: Senator Wants Message of No Confidence on the Ballot

Mac Slavo
SHTFplan.com

Trapped inside the two-party beast, where saying “no” to one candidate has often meant voting for the “lesser of two evils” can be downright disillusioning, particularly for those who feel the system is broken beyond all repair.

Sending a firm message of “no confidence” might do more good for the country than continuing to hand power to slick, PR-driven politicians who have continued to betray voter promises and sell out the country to corporate and special interests.

Well, now one state senator has introduced a bill to do just that:

A recent proposal by State Senator Branden Petersen (R-MN) would place “None of the Above” as an option in elections. Under Petersen’s plan (which would be binding in all but presidential contests), if such option were to receive the most votes in a November election, a special election would be held with new candidates in February. Any candidates who had been listed on the prior ballot would be excluded.

Which 2016 GOP candidate is most gung-ho for war?

A battle to watch: Which 2016 GOP candidate is most gung-ho for war?
Republican voters are hearing the war drums, and are beginning to nod their heads in time to the rhythm. We are now likely to enter a cycle in which more hawkish voters lead the GOP candidates to become more hawkish in order to appeal to them, which will in turn encourage the voters to become even more hawkish because they’ll be taking their cues from the things they hear from their party leaders, and around the cycle will go.

COMER UPDATE - Federal Court of Appeal Decision — January 26, 2015

Since the Federal Court of Appeal fully upheld the decision of Justice Russell dated April 24, 2014, Justice Russell’s decision stands. I refer everyone to my summary of that decision on COMER’s website.

What that means is that we are entitled to proceed with our action, subject to me drafting and filing an amended Statement of Claim with the Federal Court, which will be done shortly.

In short, and in summary, the decision of the Federal Court of Appeal is a victory for COMER to proceed. (While the government can seek leave of the Federal Court of Appeal’s decision to the Supreme Court of Canada, to date no such indication has been conveyed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

For those just finding out about COMER (which Canada has been trying to block and ban from both corporate and independent media) , the Bank of Canada is supposed to provide interest-free loans to the Canadian governments for infrastructure development. But starting in the 1970s, the Canadian government started getting their loans from privately owned banks, and forcing Canadian taxpayers to pay the interest! The COMER lawsuit seeks to force the Canadian government to avail itself of the interest-free loans mandated by the charter for the Bank of Canada, and so far the courts have agreed that COMER is correct.

The Canadian government has banned this subject from the Canadian corporate media, and emails from Canada report that links to stories about COMER are blocked inside Canada as well. This is to keep the Canadian people from finding out about this scandal as they would likely ask why the Canadian government would do such a thing, and so far the only answer seems to be, "We decided to loot the taxpayers and give it to the private banks because the private bankers write really generous campaign donation checks every election!"

Needless to say, this would not sit very well with the already over-taxed Canadian people!

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has made a name for himself when it comes to supporting yet more wars abroad, including events in Libya, Syria and now Ukraine. But more often than not, such warmongering has come back to bite Britain.

The real reason Diana tapes were shelved: Director claims BBC axed 'dynamite' footage amid fears of upsetting monarchy - despite spending £500,000 on programme

The BBC allegedly wasted £500,000 on a documentary featuring 'dynamite' interviews with Princess Diana - but later shelved it because it did not want to upset the monarchy, it has been claimed.

According to the director behind a controversial documentary about the Princess of Wales, the BBC went on to give a misleading account of why the programme was not broadcast.

The Corporation said at the time that Diana: Her Story, Her Words, due to be broadcast on the tenth anniversary of her death, did not sufficiently add to the story of Diana's life.

But, in another controversial documentary being aired tonight, it is claimed the BBC stopped its broadcast amid fears it would upset the Royal Family close to Prince's Charles 60th birthday.

HSBC chiefs say sorry to MPs – but it may be too little too late

In an attempt to demonstrate at least some humility for a scandal that has ravaged the bank’s international image, chief executive Stuart Gulliver and chairman Douglas Flint repeated apologies for the bank’s conduct – but with rather less qualification than on previous occasions – as they appeared before the Treasury Select Committee.

With the authorities in Belgium, France and the US preparing prosecutions, however, many may feel those apologies do not go far enough.’

Open Letter to Congressman on Hypocrisy of Supporting Israel

So at the end of the day, Congressman, who will play a more decisive roll in your motivation and decision making, George Washington or Benjamin Netanyahu? Please heed the advice of our most important President and build a coalition that will focus on limiting our foreign influences and strengthening our core people and values, or we just may find ourselves beholden to Israel.

Why Does Maryland Have the Most Millionaires Per Capita? The Answer Might Make You Angry

The fat cats in Washington D.C. are living the high life, and they are doing it at your expense. Over the past decade, there has been one area of the country which has experienced a massive economic boom. Thanks to wildly out of control government spending, the Washington D.C. region is absolutely swimming in cash. In fact, at this point the state of Maryland has the most millionaires per capita in the entire nation and it isn’t even close. If you have never lived there, it is hard to describe what the D.C. area is like. Every weekday morning, hordes of lawyers, lobbyists and government bureaucrats descend upon D.C. from the surrounding suburbs. And at the end of the day, the process goes in reverse. Everyone is just trying to get their piece of the pie, and it is a pie that just keeps on growing as government salaries, government contracts and government giveaways just get larger and larger. Of course our founders never intended for this to happen.

For Propaganda & ‘Democracy Promotion’: State Dept Seeks Budget to Counter RT

Not everyone agrees that American claims on the nature of the global media war are factually correct. Executive Director of the Ron Paul Institute, Daniel McAdams, is one dissenting voice.

“I think the problem the US has is they have an unlimited advertising budget, but the product they’re selling is not very attractive overseas. People are tired of US interventionism; they’re tired of US exceptionalism; they’re tired of the US bombing their country – if you’re a Somalian, you don’t care about listening to a radio broadcast from the US, you just wish the US would stop bombing you,” McAdams believes.

Internet Freedom to Disappear on Thursday

The first thing will be changing the classification of the internet from an “information services” industry to a “telecommunications” industry, thus allowing the onerous – some call them draconian – rules now to apply to the internet, thus turning it essentially into a utility: bland, beige, quiescent, orderly, stagnant, inefficient, and expensive.

Washington Has Resurrected the Threat of Nuclear War

Foreign Affairs is the publication of the elitist Council on Foreign Relations, a collection of former and current government officials, academics, and corporate and financial executives who regard themselves as the custodian and formulator of US foreign policy. The publication of the council carries the heavy weight of authority. One doesn’t expect to find humor in it, but I found myself roaring with laughter while reading an article in the February 5 online issue by Alexander J. Motyl, “Goodbye, Putin: Why the President’s Days Are Numbered.”

Forced Blood Draws, DNA Collection and Biometric Scans: What Country Is This?

Our freedoms—especially the Fourth Amendment—are being choked out by a prevailing view among government bureaucrats that they have the right to search, seize, strip, scan, spy on, probe, pat down, taser, and arrest any individual at any time and for the slightest provocation.

Forced cavity searches, forced colonoscopies, forced blood draws, forced breath-alcohol tests, forced DNA extractions, forced eye scans, forced inclusion in biometric databases—these are just a few ways in which Americans are being forced to accept that we have no control over what happens to our bodies during an encounter with government officials.

Janet Yellen Is Freaking Out About ‘Audit The Fed’ – Here Are 100 Reasons Why She Should Be

Janet Yellen is very alarmed that some members of Congress want to conduct a comprehensive audit of the Federal Reserve for the first time since it was created. If the Fed is doing everything correctly, why should Yellen be alarmed? What does she have to hide? During testimony before Congress on Tuesday, she made “central bank independence” sound like it was the holy grail. Even though every other government function is debated politically in this country, Yellen insists that what the Federal Reserve does is “too important” to be influenced by the American people. Does any other government agency ever dare to make that claim? But of course, the Federal Reserve is not a government agency. It is a private banking cartel that has far more power over our money and our economy than anyone else does. And later on in this article I am going to share with you dozens of reasons why Congress should shut it down.

Kerry rebukes Netanyahu over Iran ‘deal’

US Secretary of State John Kerry has criticized officials who are speaking against a potential nuclear agreement with Iran, saying they don’t “know what the deal is” amid the ongoing talks over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.
