The Yin and Yang of Growth and Power

The world has become an amalgamation of centralized blocks of power on the one hand, and a move away from these blocks on the other. The latter happens for good reason. Not that any such reason should be required. The plain and basic human right to, and desire for, freedom and self-governance should be enough. It isn’t, though, as we shall find out soon enough.

The centralized blocks have been able to gather far too much power, politically, socially and militarily, all concentrated in the hands of far too few people. And because we are who we are as a species, once you arrive at that sort of power concentration, it is inevitable that the people who go look for it, and obtain it, are the last ones who should have it. That is, from the point of view of all the rest of us.

It takes a certain mindset to want so much power over others, and if you don’t end up with outright psychopaths holding the reins, you’ll get something very close to it. Nevertheless, on the other hand, the process of increasingly concentrated powers is a natural one.

Probing SITE Intelligence Group

James F. Tracy

Since mid-August 2014 major news organizations have conveyed videos allegedly found online by the SITE Intelligence Group. Unsurprisingly the same media have failed to closely interrogate what the private company actually is and whether the material it promotes should be accepted as genuine.

The Search for International Terrorist Entities Intelligence Group was co-founded by Rita Katz in 2001. Katz is an Iraqi-born Jew. Her father, an Israeli spy, was executed by Iraqis as a result of his intelligence activities...

MIT Scientist Exposes Consequence of Monsanto’s Glyphosate & Aluminum Cocktail

By 2025, half the kids born in the U.S. will be diagnosed with autism, according to Dr. Stephanie Seneff, Senior Research Scientist at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. She, like many others says autism isn’t just genetic – it is almost surely due to environmental factors. Just a couple of those factors are Monsanto’s RoundUp (glyphosate) and heavy exposure to a cocktail of heavy metals, including aluminum.

Coalition of Civil Liberty Advocates and Intelligence Community Whistleblowers Oppose USA Freedom Act

A joint letter released by the coalition outlines numerous concerns with the legislation, including ambiguous language that is open to abuse, the failure to include provisions specifically protecting the rights of Americans, and the reauthorization of key sections of the USA PATRIOT Act relating to intelligence gathering.

“As long as S. 2685 contains ambiguous language that can be abused by the Intelligence Community and lacks language that clearly protects innocent Americans, we believe that focusing on USA PATRIOT Act reauthorization next year, remedies in the courts, aggressive confirmation hearings for personnel, and defunding of Intelligence Agencies are more constructive paths forward.”

Any day now the White House and Sen. Charles Schumer (D., N.Y.) will attempt to raise taxes on business, while making the U.S. tax code even more complex. Way to go, Washington.

Americans Trust the Government Less and Less

Overall, “trust in the three branches of the federal government is collectively lower than at any point in the last two decades,” with those who place a fair amount or great deal of trust in Congress down to 28 percent. At 43 percent, trust in the executive branch has dropped to its lowest point since Watergate. Only the court system fares relatively well, with 61 percent saying they trust the judicial branch.

Obama's Perpetual Drone War

President Barack Obama escalated the drone war he has conducted for the past five and a half years by declaring his intention to "degrade and ultimately destroy" the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, or ISIL. Since August 8, Obama has mounted at least 154 airstrikes in Iraq.

He will send 475 additional US troops, increasing the total number in Iraq to about 1,600. Obama announced he would conduct "a systematic campaign of airstrikes" in Iraq, and possibly in Syria.

How Cops Became Robbers

The government does not have to charge you with a crime, let alone convict you, to take your property. Our Nation Depends on Restoring Product Liability

Sadly, we have seen a trend in recent decades for the government to protect corporations against the people, rather than protecting the people against corporations. Harper Gov't 'Conceded to China' under Pressure: Treaty Expert

Van Harten said FIPA is practically a one-way deal in favour of China, and Ottawa needs to acknowledge the non-reciprocal aspects of the deal and explain why they would ratify it two years after it was first signed.

"It seems to me the federal government has conceded to China under pressure to give them this treaty," said Van Harten. "My guess is this is the price China has demanded to open its purse strings for investing in the resource sector in Canada."

He said China had ratified the deal right away and seemed to be getting antsy Canada had taken so long, even speculating the recent detentions of two Canadian coffee-shop owners in the country on accusations of spying may have been part of Beijing's pressure.

The U.S. National Debt Has Grown By More Than A Trillion Dollars In The Last 12 Months

The idea that the Obama administration has the budget deficit under control is a complete and total lie. According to the U.S. Treasury, the federal government has officially run a deficit of 589 billion dollars for the first 11 months of fiscal year 2014. But this number is just for public consumption and it relies on accounting tricks which massively understate how much debt is actually being accumulated. If you want to know what the real budget deficit is, all you have to do is go to a U.S. Treasury website which calculates the U.S. national debt to the penny. On September 30th, 2013 the U.S. national debt was sitting at$16,738,183,526,697.32. As I write this, the U.S. national debt is sitting at $17,742,108,970,073.37. That means that the U.S. national debt has actually grown by more than a trillion dollars in less than 12 months. We continue to wildly run up debt as if there is no tomorrow, and by doing so we are destroying the future of this nation.

As a result of the disaster, Oyster production in Louisiana, which typically accounts for one third of all oyster production nationwide, dropped by half in 2010. Experts are still probing potential problems with crabs and shrimps as well. Last week, Federal judge Carl Barbier ruled that oil giant BP acted with “gross negligence” during the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster.

Judges, Vulture Capitalists Pick the Bones of Argentina

America’s legal war with Argentina has continued to rage ever since an American judge, Thomas Griesa, ordered Argentina to either pay all of its creditors from its 2001 financial collapse or pay none—regardless of the law governing its debt obligations.

In June, Argentina deposited $539 million with the Bank of New York Mellon (BNY Mellon) to pay interest on its several classes of bonds governed by both United States and Argentine law. These bonds were issued both in settlement for Argentina’s defaulted debt and as new debt since Argentina emerged from effective bankruptcy 13 years ago.

$6 billion Gaza reconstruction aid will be ‘made in Israel’

As the world gears up to finance Gaza's $6bn reconstruction after Operation Protective Edge, an EU source has revealed that Israel will earn billions of euros by making sure that all the steel, concrete and other materials and other aid are sourced in Israel and benefit Israeli companies.

No formal Israeli ban prevents the import of reconstruction materials that were not made in Israel, but EU sources speaking on condition of anonymity say that in practice, Israeli security demands present them with a fait accompli.

The Extravagant Hypocrisy of Obama’s Foreign Policy Mandarins

James F. Tracy
Activist Post

Foreign policy analysts gathered before journalists at the Center for American Progress on September 12 in an event titled, “Combating the Islamic State.” The occasion was held to unveil the analysts’ co-authored report, “Supporting the Syrian Opposition: Lessons from the Field in the Fight Against ISIS and Assad.”

The document’s overall thesis is that US resources must be directed at correcting the “humanitarian situation” (p. 11) in Syria by concentrating on “the defeat of ISIS” with “the removal of Assad” as “a more long term U.S. objective” (p. 3).

A cunning piece of propaganda, the paper’s faulty reasoning is exceeded only by its blatant manipulation of recent history, both of which serve to support the larger geopolitical objective of replacing the moderate, democratically-elected Bashar Al Assad government with an entity more responsive to Western decrees...

Listening to Lavrov giving up on the West

Again, the prevailing sense is one of disgust, bewilderment, and fatigue. Though somebody as diplomatic as Lavrov will never say the, the general reaction is clearly "you guys are both hopeless and in decline; we don't need, you, goodbye". This is said without anger, mostly with sadness, really.

I don't think that Russian diplomats will make a big anti-western statement at the UN or anywhere else. The opposite of love is not hatred, but indifference. And Russian officials will continue to speak of "our partners" or even "our friends", but while this nice sounding rhetoric will continue, relations with the West will gradually cease to be a priority for the Russian diplomacy, business community and even general public. In fact, Russia is already building a multi-polar world and if the West wants no part of it - tough. The Russians know that the West cannot prevent the emergence of this new world, and they don't really care if they refuse accept this reality or play by the new rules.

ASCE Journals refuse to correct fraudulent paper they published on WTC collapses

(ASCE: American Society of Civil Engineers)

By Tony Szamboti and Richard Johns

In January 2011 one of the ASCE Journals (the Journal of Engineering Mechanics) published a paper by Jia-Liang Le and Zdenek Bazant entitled “Why the Observed Motion History of the World Trade Center Towers is Smooth”. This paper attempted to calculate the velocity loss of the falling upper section of WTC 1, when it landed on the first intact story, and claimed that this ‘jolt’ (loss of velocity) would be too small to observe. This conclusion is unsound, as it is based on assumptions about the tower that conflict with information provided in the NIST reports on 9/11 and contains internal contradictions and inconsistencies . A Discussion paper pointing out these problems was submitted to the same journal in May 2011, but after keeping the paper in review for 27 months the journal’s editors finally declined it in August 2013 on the grounds that it is “out of scope” for the journal. The following is a summary of the events surrounding these papers.

Who’s Paying the Pro-War Pundits?

If you read enough news and watch enough cable television about the threat of the Islamic State, the radical Sunni Muslim militia group better known simply as ISIS, you will inevitably encounter a parade of retired generals demanding an increased US military presence in the region. They will say that our government should deploy, as retired General Anthony Zinni demanded, up to 10,000 American boots on the ground to battle ISIS. Or as in retired General Jack Keane’s case, they will make more vague demands, such as for “offensive” air strikes and the deployment of more military advisers to the region.

But what you won’t learn from media coverage of ISIS is that many of these former Pentagon officials have skin in the game as paid directors and advisers to some of the largest military contractors in the world.

5 Examples Show That The CDC Is Corrupt And Dangerous

Over the years, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has repeatedly deceived and lied to the public, yet they continue to state that their mission is to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S.

They boldly announce on their website that the “CDC increases the health security of our nation. As the nation’s health protection agency, CDC saves lives and protects people from health threats. To accomplish our mission, CDC conducts critical science and provides health information that protects our nation against expensive and dangerous health threats, and responds when these arise,” and yet there is more and more evidence to suggest that their so called ‘scientific evidence’ has been skewed and deliberately tampered with to gain the desired results...

Autopsy: Inmate died from heat, meds in NYC cell

The death of a mentally ill, homeless former Marine in a 101-degree New York City jail cell was caused by hyperthermia due to environmental exposure to heat, according to a spokeswoman for the medical examiner, who ruled the February death an accident on Friday. Antipsychotic medication therapy for treatment of schizo-affective disorder contributed to the death of Jerome Murdough, 56, in a mental observation unit on Rikers Island, said spokeswoman Julie Bolcer.

Military Source: Troops On The Ground In Syria 'Absolutely Crucial' To Defeat ISIS

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post

As the threat of nuclear war hangs over the world as a result of NATO meddling in Ukraine, Russia has once again warned Washington against military aggression. This time, however, the warning comes in the context of the Syrian crisis where the United States and NATO are considering “targeted airstrikes” against what it claims would be ISIS fighters but what would actually be, almost assuredly, the forces of the secular Syrian government...

Even 6th-graders can see the paralles between Hitler and Bush

Bringing Nazi comparisons into discussions is usually reserved for internet arguments, not middle school classrooms. But one US teacher may have missed that lesson when she assigned her sixth graders homework comparing Adolf Hitler and George W. Bush.

The students of McKinley Tech Middle School in Washington, DC were working on a unit about war and peace this week, when, as if proving the Godwin's law, the unnamed teacher handed out a worksheet that related to two of their readings.

Incident at Oglala: The Leonard Peltier Story — FULL MOVIE

On June 26, 1975, during a period of high tensions on the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota, two FBI agents were killed in a shootout with a group of Indians. Although several men were charged with killing the agents, only one, Leonard Peltier, was found guilty. This film describes the events surrounding the shootout and suggests that Peltier was unjustly convicted.

Why New York is crumbling

New York is spending less than a third of what is needed to keep these systems in adequate repair. Local governments should be spending $3.9 billion a year. In 2012 they spent only $1.2 billion. Half of the roads are in only fair or poor condition, and a third of the bridges are deficient.

FLASHBACK - FBI Asks Clinton Not to Release Leonard Peltier, As His Supporters Fight for Executive Clemency

FBI Director Louis Freeh yesterday urged President Clinton not to commute the life sentence of Leonard Peltier, the Native American activist who has served almost 24 years in prison. Peltier was convicted of killing two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota in 1975, a crime he has always said he did not commit. In a show of support for Freeh, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Representative Henry Hyde, a Republican of Illinois, has released a letter to Clinton and Attorney General Janet Reno also opposing clemency. On Friday, actors, musicians and activists are uniting to renew calls for clemency for one of America’s most well-known and longest-incarcerated prisoners: Leonard Peltier. The Native American activist and former member of the American Indian Movement was convicted of abetting the killing of two FBI agents during a shootout on South Dakota’s Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1975. Peltier has long maintained his innocence. Amnesty International considers him a political prisoner who was not granted a fair trial

Snouts still in the trough: Five years after expenses scandal, MPs claim more than ever - and record number employ relatives

MPs are pocketing even more expenses than they were before the 2009 scandal – with many putting family members on the payroll, figures showed yesterday.

Taxpayers last year funded a record £103million of allowances. In 2008 – the year before the expenses scandal broke – the figure was £102million.

Part of the increase is down to a rise in the number of MPs employing relatives and business associates on the public payroll. Some 168 parliamentarians – more than a quarter – listed wives, children and even parents on their expenses returns last year, costing taxpayers more than £4million. This is up 8 per cent on the 155 who did so the year before.

Native American Activist and Member of the American Indian Movement: Leonard Peltier Case

Leonard Peltier (born September 12, 1944) is a Native American activist and member of the American Indian Movement (AIM). In 1977 he was convicted and sentenced to two consecutive terms of life imprisonment for first degree murder in the shooting of two Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents during a 1975 conflict on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Peltier's indictment and conviction is the subject of the 1992 documentary Incident at Oglala, a film directed by Michael Apted. Peltier has been identified as a political prisoner by certain activist groups. Amnesty International placed his case under the "Unfair Trials" category of its Annual Report: USA 2010, citing concerns with the fairness of the proceedings. His murder conviction has survived appeals in various courts over the years.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Actual examination of the facts reveals that the FBI coerced witnesses and fabricated evidence to frame Leonard Peltier in a pattern all too recognizable to anyone who has studied the crimes of COINTELPRO or the framing of James Earl Ray for the assassination of Martin Luther King. The available evidence from "Incident at Oglala" ( which is sadly no longer available in its entirety on the net) plus statements made by others at the scene suggest that the two FBI agents were accidentally shot by one of their own as they lay in ambush for members of AIM. The back story to the incident involves a faction fight between political corruption that was trying to allow corporate exploitation of resources in the reservation versus the residents who wanted to live their lives in the traditional way. The Val Kilmer film, "Thunderheart" is loosely based on these events, although the movie has a much happier ending than the real story.

TODAY IS LEONARD PELTIER'S BIRTHDAY AND WE WISH HIM MANY HAPPY RETURNS AND AN EVENTUAL REDRESS ON THE INJUSTICE OF HIS IMPRISONMENT.

Strategy Revealed: Make Syria "Look Like a Nail"

The Obama speech is done. Those hypnotized by his lies ponder his message. The U.S. has the "authority" to attack ISIS/ISIL. The U.S. will enter the sovereign nation of Syria without permission because apparently it doesn't need permission.

Obama in his usual deceptive talk, had the usual smirk on his face as he narrates his role in the now well established global empire of oppression, the U.S. empire. The new world order is here. Spread the word.

The mass psychopathy is at an all time high, only this time there is no one to stop this violent empire. Is there anyone out there who can play moral police and help turn this thing around? If so, now is the time to act...

The Lone Gladio Released! (first work of fiction by Sibel Edmonds shows workings of the deep state)

The Lone Gladio, a new novel by Sibel Edmonds, has been released today, September 11th, 2014. This is a work of fiction, something Ms. Edmonds chose to do as a calculated sidestepping of the legal red tape and threats from the government, which she experienced first hand with her first book, a non-fiction memoir called Classified Woman. Edmonds writing is brilliantly sophisticated, while simply satisfying. She's learned how to utilize some literary devices so well that she won't seem like a first time novelist.

Through her composite characters and events in this new book, we begin to see much deeper into the world of the deep state. While some of the characters are an easy peg, if you're trying to list all of the characters next to their analogous real-life inspiration, you'll find it impossible. But if that's what we have to sacrifice in order to learn about what's really been going on with our politicians, our corrupt and corporate controlled shell of a federal government. You won't find yourself that far away from some of the places Ms. Edmonds took you with Classified Woman. Then, suddenly, you'll find yourself travelling all over the globe, watching operations unfold, full of dangerous killers, blackmail, a plethora of spies, and some very sickening politicians.

University board formally rejects Salaita appointment

The University of Illinois board of trustees formally voted not to hire controversial professor Steven Salaita, whose anti-Israel tweets spurred university administrators to revoke the offer of a faculty position.

By an 8-1 vote on Thursday, the trustees voted to reject the faculty recommendation that Salaita be appointed to a tenured position with the American Indian Studies program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

The vote supported the recommendation of the university’s president and chancellor, who had previously announced that they would not submit Salaita’s appointment to the board, but who then changed course and asked for a vote to reject.

According to a report by the Chicago Tribune, the board’s action in rejecting a faculty appointment was rare and possibly unprecedented.

"...In Minnesota alone, according to the Post's analysis, the feds confiscated $12.3 million since 2001, of which $9.1 million went back to the state. A portion was distributed to local agencies that assisted in the forfeitures. The big winners were the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Police (138 seizures, $897K), the Hennepin County Sheriff (126 seizures, $798K), Saint Paul Police (96 seizures, $455K), Bloomington Police (35 seizures, $449K), Minneapolis Police (46 seizures, $400K) and the Ramsey County Sheriff (19 seizures, $342K)..."

Civil asset forfeitures more than double under Obama

An ongoing investigative series by the Post sheds light on a law enforcement practice known as civil asset forfeiture, in which officials can seize cash or goods from a person suspected of a crime, even if no charges are ever brought against that person. Since 2001, police have seized $2.5 billion in cash from people who were never charged with a crime.

The chart above plots the inflation-adjusted dollar value of all Department of Justice asset forfeitures from 1989-2013. It includes both civil asset forfeitures, like the ones discussed in the Post's investigative series, and criminal asset forfeitures, which occur when police seize property from defendants formally accused of a crime.

Illegals in the wind as DMV worker gets off easy in bribery case

Nearly a year after a Virginia DMV worker and two others were convicted of selling drivers licenses to illegal immigrants, the 100-plus buyers remain at large. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will say only the investigation “is ongoing.” DMV spokeswoman Pam Goheen said, “It is my understanding that the licenses had ‘limited duration validity’ and have expired.”

A vote-watch organization says the official answers don’t inspire confidence. “The expiration date on the licenses means (the authorities) probably know who these people are. It still begs the question of how many illegals are registered to vote and have voted,” said Reagan George, president of the Virginia Voters Alliance.

Company executives believed the government's demand for data was "unconstitutional and overbroad" and fought it in court.
