Government Stops Glenn Greenwald from Publishing His Big Snowden Revelation … But Others Will Release ALL of the Snowden Documents to Prevent a War

A month ago, Glenn Greenwald announced that he was going to publish his biggest story yet: the names of those the NSA has been spying on.

Earlier today, Greenwald tweeted that he would finally publish the story tonight at midnight.

8 hours later, he tweeted:

After 3 months working on our story, USG [the United States government] today suddenly began making new last-minute claims which we intend to investigate before publishing

Many responded that it’s a trap, and that the government is dishonestly and illegally censoring Greewald.

At the same time, Cryptome announced that all of the Snowden documents will be released in July … supposedly in order to avert a war.

“July is when war begins unless headed off by Snowden full release of crippling intel. After war begins not a chance of release,” Cryptome tweeted on its official feed. “Warmongerers are on a rampage. So, yes, citizens holding Snowden docs will do the right thing,” it said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The wait on the release of these documents is making me very nervous.

Cornered animals - and governments - are both very dangerous.

And if in fact the US government has a good sense of precisely what is in these documents, what will prevent them from going to war sooner than the July 18th-21st window?!?!?

The short answer, unfortunately, is...not much.

Conviction in "Cannibal Cop" Case Overturned

A federal judge overturned the 2013 conviction of a former NYPD police officer who was accused in a gruesome plot to kidnap women, cook them and dine on their “girl meat,” and he was set to be released Tuesday.

The kidnapping conspiracy conviction against Gilberto Valle was rejected by Manhattan Federal District Court judge Paul G. Gardephe, who said there was not enough evidence to support it, according to the New York Times. Valle faced a sentence of up to life in prison for that conviction.

PayPal freezes out NSA-proof, encrypted ProtonMail

PayPal has restricted payments to and from ProtonMail, a Swiss-based email service offering full end-to-end encryption, “pending further review.” When pressed, PayPal questioned the legality of the anti-snooping service.

ProtonMail announced the payment freeze in a statement Tuesday, saying PayPal had made no attempt to contact them before shutting them out.

“When we pressed the PayPal representative on the phone for further details, he questioned whether ProtonMail is legal and if we have government approval to encrypt emails, the statement read.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We don't need government permission to encrypt our emails or data. The Fourth Amendment gives us that right.

The European Union prepares the ‘solidarity clause’ framework for military use against citizens

The use of the “European Gendarmerie Force” (EUROGENDFOR) is made ??possible by the “solidarity clause” as Heise reported. At the unit, headquartered in Vicenza, Italy, all EU Member States are involved, the Gendarmerien, so police forces with military status are used. One of the founding countries of the EUROGENDFOR include Portugal, Spain, Italy, France and the Netherlands. We provide our services to the police unit of the EU, NATO or the UN.

“The ‘solidarity clause’ is redundant, since the EU already has mechanisms for mutual assistance in case of disasters. Secondly, the clause amplifies the course to a militarization of domestic politics, since upon request military can be used in another Member State.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If I were a citizen of any EU country where these laws apply, I would be contemplating a very quick migration elsewhere, particularly if I had children and skills.

Dictatorship arrives softly, generally in small, stealthy increments, before you even know it is there. And by the time you realize what has happened, it is too late to change things, or to run.

U.S. Relies On Law from Governments Which Don’t Even HAVE a Constitution to Justify Assassination of U.S. Citizens By Drone

The Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says:

No person shall … be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law ….

So how did the legal memorandum “justifying” assassination of U.S. citizens by drone try to sidestep the Fifth Amendment?

It relied on reasoning from two countries that don’t have any constitution.

The New York Times reports:

One might have expected a thoughtful memo that carefully weighed the pros and cons and discussed how such a strike accords with international and Constitutional law.

Instead, the memo turns out to be a slapdash pastiche of legal theories — some based on obscure interpretations of British and Israeli law — that was clearly tailored to the desired result. Perhaps the administration held out so long to avoid exposing the thin foundation on which it based such a momentous decision.

Neither England nor Israel have a constitution.

11 Shocking Facts About America's Militarized Police Forces

In June, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) brought more attention to police militarization when it issued a comprehensive, nearly 100-page (appendix and endnotes included) report titled, “War Comes Home: The Excessive Militarization of American Policing.” Based on public records requests to more than 260 law enforcement agencies in 26 states, the ACLU concluded that “American policing has become excessively militarized through the use of weapons and tactics designed for the battlefield” and that this militarization “unfairly impacts people of color and undermines individual liberties, and it has been allowed to happen in the absence of any meaningful public discussion.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

We are very lucky here in Hawaii that we do not have a lot of this kind of behaviour on the part of the police; not that it absolutely doesn't happen, but it is far rarer than for people on the mainland.

But the other aspect of the militarization of the police this article doesn't address is the training of the US police by Israel's IDF, which makes US police view American citizens very much the way the IDF views - and treats - Palestinians.

Watch Out for that Banana Peel

Recently, the EU announced that it is looking into legislation to allow the savings of EU citizens to "be used to fund long-term investments to boost the economy and help plug the gap left by banks since the financial crisis."

Sounds reasonable enough. But why would legislation be needed? It's perfectly legal for people to invest their savings in such ventures now, should they choose to do so.

Let's see what else the EU have to say: They are considering a law "to mobilize more personal pension savings for long-term financing." Mobilise? An odd term to use when discussing privately held savings. It could mean "encourage investment," or it could just as easily mean "confiscate." The former might be okay, but the latter would clearly not.

This man claims Microsoft stole his greatest idea — & Android users are still paying for it 18 years later

“It was like the Wild West,” Morris told me. Amidst all the competition and innovation in the 1990s, lines of ethics and justice were blurred. “I didn’t think they’d actually get a patent on it, because for a patent you need something novel,” Morris said, “and we’d been selling it already for well over a year.”

U.S. Patent 6,101,510 makes absolutely no mention of V_Graph or its browser extension. According to Section 101 of the U.S. Patent Act, an invention is patentable if it is new, useful, and non-obvious. According to Morris, Microsoft’s patent meets only one of those requirements. Since V_Graph had sold the technology a year prior, it’s nothing new. Since the technology itself is simply the combination of a browser and a software component, it’s nothing non-obvious. Yet, since millions of Android users are forking over licensing fees to Microsoft, it’s clearly useful.

The Death of Independence

July 4th has been the national birth date since the inception of the country. Americans want to celebrate past glories because there are few reasons to believe that the current government or society is worthy of rejoicing. Deifying the Founding Fathers and their wisdom usually is rooted upon the construction of a constitution based on separations of powers and shared authorities with individual states. Lost in this commemoration is the concept of true and lasting independence.

ALL WARS ARE BANKERS' WARS! UPDATED!

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the Earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of a pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the fortunes like mine will disappear, and they ought to disappear, for this world would be a happier and better world to live in. But if you wish to remain slaves of the Bankers and pay for the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create deposits." -- Sir Josiah Stamp, President of the Bank of England in the 1920s, the second richest man in Britain

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am helping Zane collect material for an updated version of the video for "All Wars are Bankers' Wars" and decided to add them to the original article as illustrations.

At present, this article and video are being chased around the net by an obvious team of paid propagandists attacking everything in it, denouncing it all as "fake" and "conspiracy", that I am a "commie kook", and how Private Central Bankers are a beacon unto the world, the salvation of us all, yadda yadda yadda from which I deduce that the schemers behind Private Central Banking are getting very worried indeed that the people of planet Earth are onto their little centuries old scam!

Martin Armstrong Warns Civil Unrest Is Rising Everywhere: "This Won't End Pretty"

The greatest problem we have is misinformation. People simply do not comprehend why and how the economic policies of the post-war era are imploding. This whole agenda of socialism has sold a Utopian idea that the State is there for the people yet it is run by lawyers following their own self-interest. The pensions created for those in government drive the cost of government up exponentially with time. The political forces blame the rich and this merely creates a class warfare with no resolution for the future. Even confiscating all the wealth of the so-called rich will not sustain the system. Consequently, we just have to crash and burn and start all over again.

Obama ignores Boehner’s lawsuit threat: ‘I’ll keep taking actions on my own’

Seemingly unfazed by the threat of a lawsuit, President Obama on Saturday vowed to press on and use executive actions wherever and whenever possible.

In his weekly address, the president didn’t directly address House Speaker John A. Boehner’s announcement earlier this week that he’ll sue Mr. Obama for supposed abuses of executive authority.

Webmaster's Commentary:

For a guy who claims to have been a professor of Constitutional law, Obama has it flat out wrong. Under the Constitution, the President's job is to carry out the will of the Congress. The Executive Order is merely the formal device by which the President executes the will of the Congress, and Presidential Executive Orders are binding only on the federal Government itself, not the people of the United States. Executive orders created out of the President's own mind are invalid, null, and void.

‘Sneak & peek’ warrants allow police to secretly enter homes without notice

A little-known police tactic allows cops to covertly enter private residences, perform searches, seize property, and then leave quietly without notifying the homeowner. These searches, affectionately known as “sneak and peek” warrants, have been performed at a rapidly rising rate since 9/11.
Covert Tactics

Sneak and Peek warrants in actuality a more extreme version of the over-used “no-knock” raids that we cover so often. After seeking out a judge’s authorization, police are allowed to secretly break into private property without first announcing themselves or presenting the subject of the search with a signed warrant. Using this variety of warrant, officers intentionally wait until the subject is not present. The operations are performed covertly, and with the intention of masking the fact that any police activity took place.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ever noticed that since 9/11, police departments across the country have backslid to an unofficial Code Napoleon view of American law, in which the suspect is considered guilty until they are proven innocent?!?

This is absolutely the polar opposite of what the Constitution and Bill of Rights are allegedly supposed to afford American citizens!

U.S. Says It Spied on 89,000 Targets Last Year, But the Number Is Deceptive

About 89,000 foreigners or organizations were targeted for spying under a U.S. surveillance order last year, according to a new transparency report. The report was released for the first time Friday by the Office of the Director of Intelligence, upon order of the president, in the wake of surveillance leaks by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

But the report, which covers only surveillance orders issued in 2013, doesn’t tell the whole story about how many individuals the spying targeted or how many Americans were caught in the surveillance that targeted foreigners. Civil liberties groups say the real number is likely “orders of magnitude” larger than this.

“Even if it was an honest definition of ‘target’—that is, an individual instead of a group—that also is not encompassing those who are ancillary to a target and are caught up in the dragnet,” says Kurt Opsahl, deputy general counsel of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Now, let me see: who is the US government going to consider "foreign nationals" with whom we are in regular contact?!?

Oh, I know: many of the sisters and one priest at the Catholic church which coordinates with my Methodist church to create a food distribution program, both for state-declared food insecure kids and insecure adults and family, are from India!!

And even though these beautiful souls work tirelessly to create a little better quality of life for those less fortunate, and do their best to do the work followers of Christ believe that they should do, I would not bet against these people surveilled, simply because they ARE from a foreign country.

And here is where the surveillance program, in and of itself, becomes... like a metastasizing cancer, completely out of control.

These people are pacifists, who would never, EVER advocate harm to ANYONE. To be surveilling them would be an amazingly stupid waste of taxpayer money, and personnel.

But again, given the paranoia of the current government, I wouldn't put odds against them being surveilled.

Predictive Policing Is Not Like 'Minority Report' — It's Worse

The defenders and promulgators of data-driven, predictive policing — which is meant to anticipate crimes before they happen — face a PR problem: reassuring the public against fears that such methods are ushering in a totalitarian future reminiscent of the science-fiction film Minority Report.

Concerns about preemptive crime fighting through data hoarding and analysis are hard to assuage, however, because they are perfectly valid.

Fisa court grants extension of licence for bulk collection of US phone records

US intelligence agencies have made a fifth attempt to extend their bulk collection of American telephone records – more than a year after the controversial practice was first revealed by National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Despite repeated calls from Congress and President Obama for the mass gathering of private US phone records to be banned, a court has approved the request in secret, allowing the NSA to continue collecting metadata until 12 September 2014.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"FISA" stands for "Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act", emphasis on the word "Foreign." The FISA court does not actually have legal authority to authorize spying on American citizens inside the United States because such warrantless spying violates the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution. Any claims that FISA can authorize spying on Americans inside the United States is a pure bluff to trick people into thinking that this is all somehow legal, when clearly it is not.

The United States of Cruelty

My husband's nephew, the one they were looking for, wasn't there. He doesn't even live in that house. After breaking down the door, throwing my husband to the ground, and screaming at my children, the officers - armed with M16s - filed through the house like they were playing war. They searched for drugs and never found any. I heard my baby wailing and asked one of the officers to let me hold him. He screamed at me to sit down and shut up and blocked my view, so I couldn't see my son. I could see a singed crib. And I could see a pool of blood. The officers yelled at me to calm down and told me my son was fine, that he'd just lost a tooth.

House passes bill to weaken Dodd-Frank and help Wall Street, Koch brothers

The House of Representatives voted Tuesday to water down key parts of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act, weakening the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s power to regulate derivatives. The resulting bill helps big banks and the Koch brothers.

The bill reauthorizes the CFTC’s mandate, which expired in October 2013, for five years. It would also reverse the commission’s tough rules on U.S. businesses' swaps with counter-parties abroad, requiring it to draw up a new regime together with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Critics contend that the loosening of regulations could weaken market stability, Reuters reported.

“The purpose of this bill is to remove barriers to business growth that have been imposed by over-reaching and burdensome regulations,” Rep. Michael Grimm (R-NY) said, according to HedgeCo.net.

IRS’s Lerner sought tax audit of Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley over his wife’s free meal

Lois G. Lerner, the woman at the center of the Internal Revenue Service’s tea party targeting scandal, tried to get her agency to conduct an audit involving a sitting U.S. senator, according to emails released Wednesday by the House Ways and Means Committee.

Ms. Lerner suggested that the IRS look into whether it was wrong for a group to pay for Sen. Chuck Grassley’s wife to attend an event where he was slated to speak. Her suggestion was shot down by another IRS employee who said the arrangement appeared to be legal.

But the email chain, which was turned over to Congress as part of its investigation, raises more questions about Ms. Lerner.

“At every turn, Lerner was using the IRS as a tool for political purposes in defiance of taxpayer rights,” said Rep. Dave Camp, Michigan Republican and chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.

Cancel Detroit’s debt!

While tens of thousands of retired workers in Detroit spent an anxious Christmas worrying about the fate of their hard-earned pensions, they were greeted with the news that a deal had been reached to pay Bank of America-Merrill Lynch and Swiss bank UBS $165 million. If approved, as expected, by the bankruptcy court, Detroit will pay the money to the banks to “unwind” a complex financial scheme that has already drained hundreds of millions of dollars from the city.

The US bankruptcy judge and the news media have presented the deal as an example of “equal sacrifice” because the original agreement signed by Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr would have given the banks $230 million. The truth is, not a penny should be paid to the Wall Street speculators whose semi-legal, if not outright criminal, activities are largely responsible for the crisis of the city.

Why the USA and England Had to Start World War Two

Why the USA and England Had to Start World War Two
Why? Basically because their gangster overlords, the sleazy criminals that slither around the banks in Wall Street and the City of London financial district told them to get the war on.

The banksters were deathly afraid that Hitler's resuscitation of Germany's economy, which had been on life support and falling fast, but got turned around in a matter of years into what got called an economic miracle would start spreading to other nations, many of whom were being destroyed from within by the perverted banksters choke-hold on those nations.

They knew that if Hitler's plan started catching on elsewhere, their centuries old con of debt based currency would no longer be needed or used and that would put the fiat banks out of business, not only seriously impacting their very lucrative incomes, but worse, strip away all their power.

That could not be allowed to happen.

Supreme Court bans warrantless cell phone searches, updates privacy laws

The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that police cannot go snooping through people’s cell phones without a warrant, in a unanimous decision that amounts to a major statement in favor of privacy rights.

Police agencies had argued that searching through the data on cell phones was no different than asking someone to turn out his pockets, but the justices rejected that, saying a cell phone is more fundamental.

Feds Threatening ‘Third Wounded Knee’ with Eminent Domain Land Grab on Sioux Indian Reservation

The Oglala Sioux and Lakota Sioux of the reservation have been told by the Federal Government that the National Parks Service will be taking land that comprises the South Unit of the Badlands National Park as a new ‘Tribal National Park’, only the wording in the bill clearly indicates that it will be a federally managed national park under the Department of Interior, giving mere lip service to its tribal title. The Congressional bill has already been written, and if passed through Congress, both tribal members and non tribal members will be stripped of their deeded land – at a price set by the federal government. If owners do not accept Washington’s offer (expected to be a meager one), the land can be acquired at no cost because the measure has waives all appraisal rights and stipulates that Washington can simply take Indian land by force under ‘eminent domain’.

Sacramento Sheriff Confronted Over Stingray Surveillance

Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones became visibly irate this week after being questioned over his department’s secret use of the cell-phone tracking technology known as Stingray.

According to reports from ABC News 10, the department obtained the Stingray, a small device that collects countless cell users data by mimicking a cell tower, several years ago without informing the public, local judges or prosecutors.

Scott, who has reportedly failed to provide any substantial information to media and civil liberties groups, became outraged as one reporter began questioning his department’s lack of transparency.

“Are you proud of disrupting an academy graduation?” Scott says before storming off camera. “We’ve dealt with your incessant badgering of our department over these issues.”

Climate change policy could boost global GDP $2.6tn – World Bank

Astute climate policies have the potential to add $2.6 trillion to global output each year, if governments continue making ‘climate-smart’ decisions, according to a new World Bank report released on Tuesday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What they are saying here is that by forcing people to spend money on things they do not really want or even need, like carbon credits, the economy will be "stimulated", which means more money will be squeezed out of the pockets of ordinary citizens and into the pockets of the money-junkies. This is why we still hear about human-caused global warming despite several record-setting winters in a row and the fact that all of the scare-mongering predictions made by the carbonazis (Al Gore predicted the arctic would be ice-free this summer as one example) have never materialized.

Woman Says DHS Forced Her to Strip Naked at Gunpoint During Terrifying Dawn Raid

According to Edwards’ boyfriend, one of the agents then proceeded to ogle his naked girlfriend up and down like a piece of candy.

“They spent about 2 hours trashing my house, even smashing clear glass shower doors and a vintage statue,” writes Edwards on her YouTube channel. “My boyfriend, who is asthmatic, started having trouble breathing due to the lingering smoke created by the flash bang grenade.”

After trashing her home for two hours, Edwards said the SWAT team eventually handed her a warrant signed by Jonathan Goodman, a federal magistrate judge for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, which authorized the agents to search for computers and electronics, although Edwards claims police seemed uninterested in the couple’s electronics and did not seize any items despite raising the suspicion of child pornography.

Gov’t Seizes Control of All Your Financial Accounts

Everyone knows that the United States has gone bankrupt. As the U.S. government and the Fed poured trillions of dollars of YOUR money into the banks and markets after the 2008 economic collapse, this unprecedented level of money-printing is catapulting the U.S. debt to $28 trillion by 2018. But now, the U.S. government and the Fed are completely out of ammo. They desperately need money to maintain their own power, and taxes are no longer enough. So in order to keep the Ponzi scheme going, the U.S. government has made several highly controversial moves to be in position to seize control of all your financial accounts. And it’s becoming clearer by the day, if you want to protect your savings and wealth from government confiscation, you only have ONE choice.

U.S. Archivist David Ferriero: the IRS “did not follow the law”

Rep. Trey Gowdy hammered IRS Commissioner John Koskinen when he said that he found the IRS of no wrong doing. Gowdy pressed Koskinen on how he knows there was no criminal wrongdoing when he hasn’t looked at criminal statutes.

Gowdy blasted Koskinen and shouted, “You don’t have any idea of criminal wrongdoing or not!”

Gowdy, a former persecutor, told Koskinen that there is a “negative inference” because of the inability of the IRS to retrieve the Lerner emails that the IRS claim were destroyed.

It turns out though the IRS did break the law according to U.S. Archivist David Ferriero.

According to FreeBeacon.com, U.S. Archivist David Ferriero of the National Archives and Records Administration told Rep. Tim Walberg (R., Mich.) that the IRS “did not follow the law” when they failed to notify his administration that they had lost Lois Lerner’s email records.

City attorney: Detroiters should 'stand up and say no' to EM process

“This process is so tremendously flawed,” Smith said. “It goes against everything we’ve been taught about having a voice. It goes against everything I fight for.”

Utah’s Stewart sponsors bill to ban federal SWAT teams

Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, introduced legislation on Monday that would prohibit non-law enforcement agencies in the federal government from buying high-power firearms or weaponry as part of a response to the April standoff between the Bureau of Land Management and rancher Cliven Bundy.

Stewart says there’s no reason for regulatory agencies to have paramilitary units like the ones present when the BLM, under a court order, attempted to round up cattle on federal lands. The BLM eventually gave up after facing an armed response by Bundy supporters.

So That’s Why They Kept the Drone Kill Memo Secret

In the end, the memo admits that calling something a war isn’t good enough; the targeted victim has to have been an imminent threat to the United States. But who gets to decide whether he or she was that? Why, whoever does the killing of course. And what happens if nobody ever even makes an unsupported assertion to that effect? Nothing, of course.

This is not the rule of law. This is savage brute force in minimal disguise. I don’t want to see any more of these memos. I want to see the video footage of the drone murders on a television. I want to see law professors and revolving-door State Department / human rights group hacks argue that dead children fall under the public authority justification.

US police departments are increasingly militarised, finds report

Suddenly there was a loud bang and several strangers dressed in black burst into the room. A blinding flash burst out with a deafening roar from the direction of the cot. Amid the confusion, Phonesavanh could see her husband pinned down and handcuffed under one of the men in black, and while her son was being held by another. Everyone was yelling, screaming, crying. “I kept asking the officers to let me have my baby, but they said shut up and sit down,” she said.

As the pandemonium died down, it became clear that the strangers in black were a Swat team of police officers from the local Habersham County force – they had raided the house on the incorrect assumption that occupants were involved in drugs. It also became clear to Phonesavanh that something had happened to Bou Bou and that the officers had taken him away.

THE SONASOFT SAGA - THE IRS HAS A CONTRACT WITH A COMPANY THAT BACKS UP ALL OF THEIR EMAILS!

John Koskinen's testimony before the House Ways & Means Committee basically came down to "The Dog Ate My Emails", infuriating when you consider that the IRS demands all Americans keep all financial records for up to 7 years for possible review by the IRS, while the IRS was free to dispose of embarrassing and criminal evidence at their discretion. Worse, apparently emboldened by Attorney General Eric Holser's steadfast refusal to allow the Department of Justice to open a criminal investigation into the IRS' actions (possibly to to the DOJ's own complicity in siccing the FBI on Obama's enemies), Koskinin refused to even apologize for the lost emails, barely able to keep the smirk off of his face!

Webmaster's Commentary:

The story is going viral across the net today. By tomorrow the corporate media will have to cover it. IRS CANCELLED Contract with Email-Storage Firm Weeks After Lerner’s Computer Crash

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) cancelled its longtime relationship with an email-storage contractor just weeks after ex-IRS official Lois Lerner’s computer crashed and shortly before other IRS officials’ computers allegedly crashed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

BUMP TO THE TOP.

If the IRS canceled the contact AFTER the Lois Lerner's email was lost, why didn't the IRS request those emails be restored BEFORE they ended the contract?

And given that they had lost emails prior to ending the Contract with Sonasoft, who did the IRS shift the contract to maintain compliance with email archiving laws to? Did the IRS just decide to stop complying with those laws and "hope for the best" with their demonstrably faulty email system?

US Funds "Terror Studies" to Dissect and Neutralize Social Movements

Since the meltdown of 2008, U.S. universities have collaborated with the Pentagon to study dynamics of social movements, worldwide. The goal of “terrorism studies” is “to find possible vectors of resistance, which are to be identified and eradicated, like a disease.” The Minerva Initiative, like NSA spying, sees the entire planet as “enemy territory.”

The U.S. Department of Defense is immersed in studies about...people like you. The Pentagon wants to know why folks who don’t themselves engage in violence to overthrow the prevailing order become, what the military calls, “supporters of political violence.” And by that they mean, everyone who opposes U.S military policy in the world, or the repressive policies of U.S. allies and proxies, or who opposes the racially repressive U.S. criminal justice system, or who wants to push the One Percent off their economic and political pedestals so they can’t lord it over the rest of us. (I’m sure you recognize yourself somewhere in that list.)

Webmaster's Commentary:

As a Christian Pacifist who never advocates violence, abhors the use of war as a means to settle geopolitical disputes, but does advocate logic, reason, and compassion in both this country's domestic and foreign policies, how in heaven's name could I possibly be characterized as a threat?!?

Am I "dissatisfied" with the status quo in this country? You can bet on that. But would I ever indulge in violence to change it?

The short answer is, never.

But the late President Kennedy said it best: "when peaceful revolution is impossible, violent revolution is inevitable".

IF the Minerva Research Initiative wants to do something constructive, it has to figure out how money is available to all strata of society, and not just to the money junkies.

The list has 312,555 properties that have been turned over to the state between July 2013 and May. There are more than $650 million in assets.

UPDATE 2: I tried FAXing to Darrell Issa's district office. That connection also failed.

UPDATE 3: I tried using the web form over at the Committee On Oversight & Government Reform to send them the info on Sonasoft. That too will not function, simply responding with "An error occurred" when clicking the submit button.

This cannot just be coincidence.

UPDATE 5: I went to an office supply store and FAXed the original article to Darrell Issa's Washington DC and district offices. Unlike my home, (where the FAX machine is only three months old) the FAXes from the office store went through without any problems at all. Here are the reports.

Sonasoft Software Licenses and Software Maintenance Support

Synopsis:
Added: Sep 12, 2008 1:01 pm
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) intends to award a sole source purchase order to Sonasoft Corporation, for the purchase of the software licenses related to Exchange Disaster Recovery capabilities. These items and services have been determined to meet the definition of commercial items in accordance with Part 2.101 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation.

The IRS has a need for the following items:

CLIN 0001 – Sonasafe Application, Item Number SC, Quantity 4

CLIN 0002 – Exchange Standby License, Item Number SC-B, Quantity 4

CLIN 0003 – Exchange Agent, Item Number SE, Quantity 8

CLIN 0004 – Exchange Standby Agent, Item Number SE-S, Quantity 8

Webmaster's Commentary:

This page at fbo.gov shows the renewal of services and licenses from Sonasoft for the IRS. Note that some of the products interface with Microsoft Exchange Server. This means that Lois Lerner's (and the other six IRS officials) emails did not reside solely on her local hard drive, but were archived by the built-in system of exchange as well as the added products from Sonasoft.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) said it can't provide emails sent between 2009 and 2011 that were requested by congressional investigators because of hard drive crashes.

The agency said that emails stored on dead drives were lost forever because its email backup tapes were recycled every six months, and employees were responsible for keeping their own long-term archives.

The IRS had a contract with email backup service vendor Sonasoft starting in 2005, according to FedSpending.org, which lists the contract as being for "automatic data processing services." Sonasoft's motto is "email archiving done right," and the company lists the IRS as a customer.

Keeping a Lid on "it"

Crooks don't lack guts they lack morals. This brings us to the definition of morals.

I think my morals are good morals. They are most aptly defined in the U.S. Bill of Rights backed up by the Declaration of Independence.

Only fools and the Jews of World War Two era give up their guns and get sent to camps by people with the guts to (unjustly) use their own guns to subdue the cowed and cowardly masses.

How did the masses get so cowardly?

They were and are presently being taught to be cowards by the mainstream media and forces that dictate the effluence of "our" government.

The fact is that "our" governments job is to protect the rights of EVERY CITIZEN REGARDLESS OF ANYTHING. The definition of "RIGHTS" is spelled out in the Bill of Rights.

Simple.

My enemies are simply those who choose to be enemies of the Bill of Rights.

Argentina says next bond payment 'impossible', default looms

Argentina threatened to default on its debt on Wednesday when the government called it "impossible" to pay bond service due on June 30, citing a U.S. court decision earlier in the day that increased pressure on the economically ailing country.

Buenos Aires is locked in a 12-year legal fight with creditors who refused to participate in two restructurings that followed Argentina's 2002 default on $100 billion in bonds.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I wonder how many people bought credit default swaps on Argentina's debt?

What Argentina ought to be doing is looking for acts of economic sabotage by US intelligence agencies intended to prevent them from being able to repay their loans, to keep them under control and seize their real assets. This was a very common trick of the US in South America all during the 1970s and 1980s. It would work like this. Loan a country so many millions of dollars to develop their coffee industry, then introduce a parasite that wrecked the coffee plants so the loans could not be repaid, then demand political and economic concessions, and transfer of public assets into private hands.

If Argentina could document just one such incidence of sabotage, then they could declare the whole debt fraudulent.

Protests banned as 120 snipers line up to protect Spanish crown

As Prince Felipe gets ready to be crowned the new King of Spain, two demonstrations and two concentrations planned for Thursday have been banned, thousands of extra police officers brought in and 120 snipers prepped to protect the ceremonial event.

It seems Spanish authorities are a tad nervous of demonstrations against the monarchy Thursday, when the new King Felipe VI is set to be crowned.

Having declared it illegal to hold any form of anti-monarchy protest or demonstration, the government will be deploying more than 6,700 police and civil guard officers in and around the area during the proceedings. Military Blimps Will Float In Aberdeen, Tracking Potential Threats

Soon, Maryland will be the home to a couple of new landmarks. Actually, sky-marks.

As Mike Schuh reports, two large blimps will soon rise over Harford County and stay put.

Radar blimps like these have been used on the battlefield to track the enemy, and in the Caribbean to intercept drug runners.

Testing in Utah is complete. Now they’re being packed up and sent to Maryland.

“There is some equipment already on grounds, yes,” said Kelly Luster, a spokesman for Aberdeen Proving Ground.

What will they be looking for? Anti-ship cruise missiles, unmanned aircraft and swarming boats.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh, REALLY?!?

In and around Aberdeen Maryland?!?!?

I would rather suggest that these blimps are being used to "condition" Americans to the presence of surveillance in the skies, and that in the future, blimps and/or drones will be outfitted with cameras, and various kinds of arms, both less than lethal - and lethal.

This drone shoots crowds with pepper spray paintballs: Skunk Riot Control Copter will be deployed to South African mines

Crowds of protesters could soon come under attack from riot control drones outfitted with paintball guns, strobe lights, and speakers. The Skunk Riot Control Copter, built by South African company Desert Wolf, has a suite of cameras and four paintball guns strapped to its chassis to help its operators monitor and control unruly crowds. The guns can fire ammunition from four different hoppers, meaning the drone operators can shoot protesters with dye markers, solid plastic pellets, or small capsules of pepper spray.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Watch for major corporations in the US with labor issues buy up these drones like crazy.

Because if President Obama believes that he has the legal right to kill anyone anywhere, without due process, it will be no leap of logic for him to endorse corporate extrajudicial maimings and killings.

And that horrific thumpa-thumpa-thumpa sound you are hearing is that of the late Nelson Mandela, turning over in his grave at warp speed. This was not the kind of "freedom" he envisioned for the people of South Africa.

Ex-Goldman director goes to prison, still owes $13.9 million fine

Former Goldman Sachs Group Inc (GS.N) director Rajat Gupta on Tuesday began serving his two-year prison term for insider trading, and lost his challenge to a $13.9 million civil penalty and permanent ban from acting as a public company officer.

Gupta, 65, reported to FMC Devens, a medical facility and satellite camp in Ayer, Massachusetts about 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Boston, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons said.

Court Rejects Request That Secret NSA Evidence Used Against Terrorism Suspect Be Shared With Suspect's Lawyers

We've been following the case of Adel Daoud, an American citizen charged with terrorism. He's one of the many, many folks that was arrested following one of the FBI's infamous home grown plots (i.e. he was never actually involved in any terrorism, as all of his "co-conspirators" were actually FBI agents or informants, and there was never any actual threat or chance that he'd pull off an actual terrorist attack). Back during the (pre-Snowden) debates on renewing Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act, Senator Dianne Feinstein used Daoud's case as a specific example of when the program had been useful in stopping terrorism.

Is 22 June 2014 about to be “a date that will live in infamy”?

Barack Obama (2008) has stated, “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that is just as powerful, just as strong, [and] just as well-funded.”

Think about it: a “national security force” that is “just as powerful, just as strong, [and] just as well-funded” as our military! If that is not the description of a massive national military/police force to dominate and control the United States of America, what else could it be?

And the main stream media lets it pass without comment.

South Dakota has Raked in $100 Million in Homeland Security Grants Despite No Known Terrorist Threats…Ever

South Dakota, which has only 800,000 residents, has received $100 million in grants from the Department of Homeland Security since 2003. This largesse has been bestowed on a state with no known terrorist threats, now or ever.

Money has gone towards purchasing firefighting equipment and police surveillance technology, as well as software to protect against cyber attacks, and more.

Some of it was even spent to prepare for roadside bombs—the kind deployed against American soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq that have never been used in South Dakota or any other U.S. state.

The only potential threats facing South Dakota, according to a state strategic plan, come from white supremacist groups and environmentalists opposed to uranium mining and the Keystone XL pipeline.

Webmaster's Commentary:

SOUTH DAKOTA?!?!?

Are you flipping kidding me?!?

And when, please God, did responsible, peaceful environmental protestors become a "threat"?

But folks, South Dakota is simply the tip of the iceberg here, in terms of the complete militarization of all local and state police.

Against what threat, please?!?

This surely means that something wicked this way comes.

Do not become violent, because a violent rebellion is precisely what these police have been trained to put down with extreme prejudice (just killing people where they stand).

Protect yourself; plan; prepare. This is the "holy Trinity" for keeping yourselves and those you love as safe and comfortable as possible if there is a period of extreme societal disruption, for whatever reason.

How The Cops Watch Your Tweets In Real-Time

A look at the BlueJay interface shows it to be a fairly basic tool, but one that gets its power from full access to the Twitter “firehose” of all tweets.

The main BlueJay interface, which is accessed through a Web browser.

BlueJay partners with firehose providers and touts this fact in its marketing copy: “BlueJay captures tweets from the entire Twitter stream, unlike all other products on the market that only get a fraction of the tweets that are being posted.” BlueJay is meant only for local monitoring of tweets, but this also keeps the price in reach of local police departments—$150 a month.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is simple: never, ever say anything on line or with your cell that you wouldn't want God and everyone to be listening to.

But this could be a very powerful took against people who are simply peace advocates, like myself or Mike, or who otherwise think for themselves.

At 65, I describe myself as a Christian pacifist, who never advocates violence, but wants to see those people in power (particularly here in the US) behaving like adults, and find other means, rather than war, through which to see their geopolitical objectives achieved, if they are for the good of We the People.

Unfortunately, most legislation coming out of both Congress and local governments are good for the corporations in this country which fund election cycles.

Intelligent bad guys may be tweeting, or communicating otherwise, but if they are smart, their equipment is already grade-A encrypted.

FLASHBACK - Court OKs Barring High IQs for Cops

A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York upheld a lower court’s decision that the city did not discriminate against Robert Jordan because the same standards were applied to everyone who took the test.

“This kind of puts an official face on discrimination in America against people of a certain class,” Jordan said today from his Waterford home. “I maintain you have no more control over your basic intelligence than your eye color or your gender or anything else.”

FLASHBACK - How Covert Agents Infiltrate the Internet to Manipulate, Deceive, and Destroy Reputations

Among the core self-identified purposes of JTRIG are two tactics: (1) to inject all sorts of false material onto the internet in order to destroy the reputation of its targets; and (2) to use social sciences and other techniques to manipulate online discourse and activism to generate outcomes it considers desirable. To see how extremist these programs are, just consider the tactics they boast of using to achieve those ends: “false flag operations” (posting material to the internet and falsely attributing it to someone else), fake victim blog posts (pretending to be a victim of the individual whose reputation they want to destroy), and posting “negative information” on various forums.

William Astore, Drafted by the National Security State

In the military, especially in basic training, you have no privacy. The government owns you. You’re “government issue,” just another G.I., a number on a dogtag that has your blood type and religion in case you need a transfusion or last rites. You get used to it. That sacrifice of individual privacy and personal autonomy is the price you pay for joining the military.

Unlike the recruiting poster of old, Uncle Sam doesn’t want you anymore -- he already has you. You’ve been drafted into the American national security state. That much is evident from Edward Snowden’s revelations. Your email? It can be read. Your phone calls? Metadata about them is being gathered. Your smartphone? It’s a perfect tracking device if the government needs to find you. Your computer? Hackable and trackable. Your server? It’s at their service, not yours.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Of course, the government's treating us like they own us and forcing us to do what they want is a violation of the Thirteenth Amendment.

To defeat encryption, feds deploy the subpoena

It's not shadowy spies or engineers from the National Security Agency secretly reading the hundreds of tips about government fraud that the Project on Government Oversight (POGO) has received in less than a month.

Instead, it's lawyers from the President Barack Obama administration employing the power of the administrative subpoena in a bid to siphon data from POGO's encrypted submission portal. POGO's site encourages whistleblowers to use Tor as the gateway and has garnered more than 700 tips about abuse and mismanagement at the US Veterans Administration after less than a month of operation.

"If they are successful, that defeats the purpose of trying to improve our online security with encryption," Joe Newman, the project's communications director, said in a telephone interview.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Basically, this is a confession that the NSA really cannot beat strong encryption unless they have a back door. See Rivero challenges the NSA!

Meanwhile, subpoenas, like warrants, are issued for probable cause. There must be an accusation of a crime so that subpoenas are not just used for a fishing expedition. Were our Supreme Court not compromised (as Chief Justice Roberts demonstrated with his sudden reversal on Obamacare) these subpoenas could be quashed, as there is no evidence or a crime or a legal foundation for them to exist. Reporting government mismanagement is not a crime. Indeed it is the very reason the First Amendment was created, to protect those who point out the faults of the government.

Jun 15 07:59

Now thought crime is terror in U.S.?

The Justice Department is resurrecting a program designed to thwart domestic threats to the United States, and Attorney General Eric Holder says those threats include individuals the government deems anti-government or racially prejudiced.

The Domestic Terrorism Executive Committee was created in the wake of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing but was scrapped soon after the 2001 terrorist attacks as intelligence and law enforcement officials shifted their focus to threats from outside the country. The committee will be comprised of figures from the FBI, the National Security Division of the Justice Department and the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee.

In his statement announcing the return of the committee, Holder said he remains concerned about the specter of attacks prompted by Islamic extremists, but he said this committee will be tasked with identifying other threats.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Something tells me the "Racial prejudice" is for decoration only and not really a priority for the jackboots.

But let us stipulate that racial prejudice is really a priority with these people, in which case I would recommend they start with the very obvious racial prejudice displayed by "God's chosen people" against every other human being on the planet!

Reality Check: Guns Sales Up, Crimes Committed With Guns Down

Earlier this week, Michael Bloomberg's new anti-gun Everytown released a bogus report claiming since Newtown in December 2013, 74 school shootings have taken place. The report was so bogus, even CNN went out of the way, twice, to correct the record. More from Ed Morrissey:

For the second time in two days, CNN went out of its way to debunk the Michael Bloomberg/Barack Obama claim that mass shootings have become epidemic and a “new normal” in American society. The day after CNN debunked the Bloomberg-funded Everytown claim that there were 74 Newtown-style mass shootings since Sandy Hook, Jake Tapper interviewed Northeastern University criminology professor James Alan Fox to look at the data rather than the anecdotes. Over a 40-year period, Fox concluded, mass shootings have remained flat — even while the population of the country has grown significantly over the same period.

The roots of Eric Cantor’s defeat

The charge might surprise some on Capitol Hill, who view Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, as far more eager to negotiate with the enemy than his No. 2. Yet many on the right, in Washington and the Old Dominion, also see Cantor as a squish — a supporter of immigration reform who voted to raise the federal debt ceiling in 2011 and pass the TARP bank bailout in 2008, the measure that helped spark the entire tea party movement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

FOX News is reporting that Cantor's defeat will revive the debate over raising the debt ceiling for the Federal Government. This IS an issue all Americans need to pay attention to as we head into the November elections. But all Americans need to understand that the visible debate is a smokescreen for the real question every American needs to be asking right now.

Pentagon preparing for mass civil breakdown

Last year, the DoD's Minerva Initiative funded a project to determine 'Who Does Not Become a Terrorist, and Why?' which, however, conflates peaceful activists with "supporters of political violence" who are different from terrorists only in that they do not embark on "armed militancy" themselves. The project explicitly sets out to study non-violent activists:

I contacted the project's principal investigator, Prof Maria Rasmussen of the US Naval Postgraduate School, asking why non-violent activists working for NGOs should be equated to supporters of political violence – and which "parties and NGOs" were being investigated – but received no response.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, Pentagon, let me break this down for you, gently, in small bites, so you are able to "intellectually digest" what I am telling you.

I am a Christian pacifist who would never, ever advocate violence, period, end of discussion.

How in the name of heaven you could possibly equate me with any kind of violent "terrorist", because I logically point out flaws, short-sightedness, and illogic in governmental policies, betrays a slippery slope toward a very unsound place of paranoia.

Senior NSA Executive: NSA Started Spying On Journalists in 2002 … In Order to Make Sure They Didn’t Report On Mass Surveillance

You may have heard about the government’s spying on the Associated Press. And high-level NSA whistleblower Bill Binney told Washington’s Blog that the government also spied on Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter James Risen, and chief Fox News Washington correspondent James Rosen.

But Senior NSA executive Thomas Drake tells Washington’s Blog that the spying on reporters started 12 years ago – in 2002 – and has been fairly systematic.

Are the Police Becoming a Domestic Military?

What do you get when you combine post-war military surplus equipment with US domestic law enforcement agencies?

I don’t know. And I’m not sure I want to.

The sheer volume of equipment coming into the country (see the wave-making New York Times article “War Gear Flows to Police Departments”) makes it look like we’re building another branch of the military—but what for? Different people have different answers, but they’ve all got one thing in common: Fear.

The rise in mass shootings has some members of the law enforcement community calling the escalation an exercise in preparedness. Some cite the threat of domestic terrorism, invoking the specter of the Boston Marathon bombings as proof enough. Other responses are simply brain-searing, like this one from the Morgan County Sherriff’s department, featured in the New York Times:

“In the Indianapolis suburbs, officers said they needed a mine-resistant vehicle to protect against a possible attack by veterans returning from war.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

There has been a war against the American people - and American families - for quite some time now. This hyper-militarization of the police is a final phase in the process.

The US government is expecting unrest, both from the poorest segments of our communities, when food and money run out, and other individuals who have simply had enough of miserably ill-conceived foreign and domestic policies.

Please, no matter how much you get ticked off, do not indulge in violence: that is precisely the battle the government is prepared to put down, and mercilessly, in a homicidal rage.

Just please, be prepared. Have long-term storable food and water; extra meds for your family and your pets; have a plan, in case you need to bug out, in terms of how to reconnect with family and friends; keep no more money in your bank account than you absolutely need to pay your bills; and make sure you have some gold and silver, purchased in small, untraceable amounts. Learn which of your neighbors can be counted upon to work with you, and barter with you, if times get very rough.

A Disappeared Book on Wall Street History Provides a Dead Serious Warning

In 2011, Darcy Flynn, an SEC lawyer, told Congressional investigators and the SEC Inspector General that for at least 18 years, the SEC had been shredding documents and emails related to its investigations — documents that it was required under law to keep. Flynn explained to investigators that by purging these files, it impaired the SEC’s ability to see the connections between related frauds on Wall Street.

In 2010, we reported at CounterPunch that not only was it next to impossible to find on line the original text of the historic Glass-Steagall Act which had protected the U.S. economy from the ravages of Wall Street’s recklessness for seven decades until its repeal in 1999, but the National Archives wanted to charge me $1505 to obtain a copy of this public legislation. After much sleuthing, we obtained a copy from the St. Louis Fed and made it available to the Internet Archive which has kindly kept it alive on its web site.

Their chief concern seems to be how much knowledge the public has about the Stingray – the controversial surveillance device has rankled civil liberties advocates, particularly the American Civil Liberties Union, for its ability to mimic a cell phone tower, thereby attracting pings from an overwhelming majority of the phones in the area and giving police a clear notion of where an individual is.

Obama praises ‘very severe’ gun confiscation program of Australia

President Barack Obama said in a recent address that he’s become ‘frustrated’ with America’s lack of movement toward civilian disarmament. As police in the USA become increasingly militarized (with Obama’s help), the president is using crime as an emotional tool to soften Americans toward gun control. Surrounded by heavily armed body guards, Obama said on June 10th:

Couple of decades ago, Australia had a mass shooting, similar to Columbine or Newtown. And Australia just said, well, that’s it, we’re not doing, we’re not seeing that again, and basically imposed very severe, tough gun laws, and they haven’t had a mass shooting since.

Our levels of gun violence are off the charts. There’s no advanced, developed country that would put up with this.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to President Obama; this is a lousy attempt at misdirection, sir. In virtually all of these cases, the perps were either on - or weaning themselves away from - SSRI medications.

OF course, that is something you, or members of Congress, don't want to touch with a ten foot pole, because of how "generous" big pharma is to those support the industry, and allow the creation of medications which can cripple - and literally, kill - people who are taking them, and others as well.

And as to the statement that "There’s no advanced, developed country that would put up with this." Sir, forgive me,what were you thinking when you made that statement?!?!? Did your alleged fact checkers blink and miss the Swiss example, or did you just not know?!?

Gun politics in Switzerland are unique in Europe. The vast majority of men between the ages of 20 and 30 are conscripted into the militia and undergo military training, including weapons training. The personal weapons of the militia are kept at home as part of the military obligations; Switzerland thus has one of the highest gun ownership rates in the world.[1] In recent times a minority of political opposition has expressed a desire for tighter gun regulations.[2] A referendum in February 2011 rejected stricter gun control.[3]

Mother of seven found dead in jail cell serving time for children’s truancy

Eileen DiNino, a 55-year-old mother of seven from Reading, Pennsylvania, was found dead in her cell on Saturday. She was in the midst of a 48-hour jail sentence that was meant to erase her $2,000 debt, which had built up since 1999 by her sons' truancy from a vocational school, according to the Associated Press.

Police said the cause of death has yet to be determined, but the tragedy has already infuriated much of the community and the judge who sent DiNino to the Berks County jail.

“Did something happen? Was she scared to death?” said District Judge Dean Patton, who told reporters that he has been unable to sleep in the wake of her death yet had no other option under the law than to impose the sentence.

FLASHBACK - THE LIE OF THE (LAST) CENTURY

There is nothing new in a government lying to their people to start a war. Indeed because most people prefer living in peace to bloody and horrific death in war, any government that desires to initiate a war usually lies to their people to create the illusion that support for the war is the only possible choice they can make.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I wrote this article way back when the US Government was still trying to justify the invasion and conquest of Iraq by claiming that Saddam Hussein had nuclear weapons. It is a detailed breakdown of all of the obvious lies, frauds, and falsehoods used to trick Americans into supporting that war. The real agenda, long hidden, was to punish Iraq for daring to sell their oil for the Euro and to install a puppet regime that would enforce the sale of Iraq's oil for the US dollar.

So, as Obama cranks up the drones and sends the troops back into Iraq for "Invasion: The sequel - This time we'll get it RIGHT!", expect a second helping of highly odoriferous bovine excrement served to you by the US corporate media.

"He gets up to the front and they say there's not enough in his account, so they take his food, and in front of him, throw it away," Jimmie Keys, the boy's father, told Komo News.

White House: Obama Prepared To Act ‘Unilaterally’ Again Using ‘Executive Authority’ On Guns

President Barack Obama is looking for new ways to act “administratively, unilaterally using his executive authority” to enact new gun control legislation, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said during a press conference Tuesday.

The official was responding to a journalist’s questions about the President’s reaction to news of a shooting that occurred at an Oregon high school. Two people were killed, including the shooter.

While the President is looking for ways to implement his gun control agenda unilaterally, Earnest stressed that the Administration would also like to see legislative action to increase gun control.

“The President’s goal is to look for opportunities to act administratively, unilaterally using his executive authority to try to make our communities safer,” Earnest said. “We’re always looking for those opportunities. But none of those opportunities when they present themselves is going to be an acceptable substitute for robust legislative action.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: this is not about safety, in any way, shape, or form: this gun grab, should President Obama get away with it, is prelude to a gold grab, to rob every individual holding gold or other precious metal, and turn it over to a morally, and fiscally bankrupt administration, in exchange for prettily printed pieces of paper, worth absolutely nothing.

Senate’s Latest NDAA Draft Further Tramples Americans’ Rights

The Senate’s draft of the National Defense Authorization Act for 2015 was written behind closed doors and kept secret for around 11 days, but the text of the bill was publicly released last week.

In response, Chris Anders, senior legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union’s Washington Legislative Office, wrote a blog post for the ACLU chronicling his concerns about the annual defense policy bill.

“Top senators thought you wouldn’t notice,” wrote Anders, but the 2015 NDAA includes provisions that “paves the way for Guantánamo-style indefinite detention being brought to the United States itself.”

He also encouraged the public to not only read the text of the 784-page bill, but to contact their lawmakers and encourage them to vote against the legislation that he says allows for the use of military force to detain Americans indefinitely — even if U.S. involvement in a combat situation were to end.

Vaccines: Child consent agenda pushes forward

Two U.S. states already have laws allowing children to consent to vaccines -- CA and NC -- and this could become a trend around the country, as more state legislatures, TX and NY to be specific, have introduced similar bills. Now, New York legislators are revising their prior attempt with House Bill A497, which would allow children to consent to vaccination -- a procedure that comes with a risk of permanent disability and death (Google the "National Vaccine Injury and Compensation Program") -- for sexually transmitted diseases.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This article errs in stating "a law is not officially 'unconstitutional' until a court says so." The United States Supreme Court ruled in Marbury vs Madison that laws repugnant to the Constitution are automatically NULL AND VOID. This reserves to We The People the right to decide if a law is unconstitutional, and under the United States Supreme Court decision in John Bad Elk vs United States, to resist illegal actions by the government up to and including the use of lethal force.

The war on drugs has become the war on the American people

“On July 29, 2008, my family and I were terrorized by an errant Prince George’s County SWAT team. This unit forced entry into my home without a proper warrant, executed our beloved black Labradors, Payton and Chase, and bound and interrogated my mother-in-law and me for hours, as they ransacked our belongings . . . As I was forced to kneel, bound at gunpoint on my living room floor, I recall thinking that there had been a terrible mistake. However, as I have learned more, I have to understand that what my family and I experienced is part of a growing and troubling trend where law enforcement is relying on SWAT teams to perform duties once handled by ordinary police officers.”—Maryland Mayor Cheye Calvo in testimony before the Maryland Senate

Can banks create money out of thin air?

• This article explains how the majority of money in the modern economy is created by commercial banks making loans.

• Money creation in practice differs from some popular conceptions — banks do not act simply as intermediaries, lending out deposits that savers place with them, and nor do they “multiply up” central bank money to create new loans and deposits.

• The amount of money created in the economy ultimately depends on the monetary policy of the central bank. In normal times, this is carried out by setting interest rates. The central bank can also affect the amount of money directly through purchasing assets or “quantitative easing”.

The authors of the Bank of England report remind us that, these days, most settlement of financial transactions involves changing the amounts in personal deposit accounts held in banks. Against popular belief, and textbook economics, these deposits definitely do not fund bank lending.

An Oregon high school was on lockdown Tuesday, after several shots were reportedly fired in the building.

Authorities descended on Reynolds High School in Troutdale — just northeast of Portland — after calls of an active shooter, KPTV reported.

Phony scandal? IRS information on tax exempt groups sent to FBI

With most of the nation's news media covering what President Barack Obama and his minions like to call the latest phony scandal -- namely the prisoner swap which entailed trading five top Taliban terrorists for one suspected deserter -- the American people probably missed the latest revelation on Monday involving Obama's IRS "phony scandal," according to documents from a Beltway watchdog group.

After the U.S. Justice Department in June turned over an IRS database to the House Oversight Committee in their response to a subpoena issued by the committee's chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., the Justice Department now says it was informed by Internal Revenue Service officials that the database contains confidential, legally protected information on taxpayers that shouldn't have been submitted to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the first place, according to Judicial Watch.

Supreme Court Justices Quietly Rewrite Opinions after they have been Published

Justices on the U.S. Supreme Court have left other judges and legal scholars guessing about their rulings, which are something of a work in progress at the time decisions are announced. It turns out that the mere announcement of a result doesn’t mean all the “i’s” have been dotted and “t’s” crossed, or that all the legal reasoning is set in stone.

Instead, justices often continue to edit their rulings long after cases have been decided, and in some instances, they’ve made “truly substantive changes in factual statements and legal reasoning,” according to Richard J. Lazarus, a Harvard law professor who has studied the court’s habit of revising its decisions.

The American Legions Leadership Allegiance to Israel

Immediately following Israel’s attack on America’s premier spy ship as it navigated in International waters on 8 June 1967, the American Legion Membership passed a strong resolution on the incident.

Resolution #508 condemned Israeli actions as an “apparently deliberate attack.”

Resolution #508 called on the U.S. government to “conduct a complete and thorough investigation of this incident” and to demand full payment from the Israeli government for compensation to the families, crew, and to the United States for the damage to the ship.
“After the resolution was passed, there were complaints from the Jewish War Veterans of America and some Jewish members of the American Legion, and the resolution was allowed to die without action. The American Legion member who proposed the resolution stated later that the lack of follow through was due to pressure by pro-Israel organizations.”

FLASHBACK - Gunned Down in Vegas: What Really Happened to Erik Scott?

Erik Scott was a West Point graduate, Army veteran, MBA graduate of Duke University, and a medical sales rep for Boston Scientific. He was gunned down by three Las Vegas police officers after they responded to a 911 call by Costco store employees reporting a man with a gun, possibly on narcotics, behaving erratically.

Scott was 38 years old, shopping with his girlfriend for items they needed as they moved in together. Unfortunately, those are the only details of the story on which anyone agrees.

To hear the side of the story presented by Scott’s family, friends, and some eyewitnesses, Erik Scott’s death was the result of ignorance and embellishment on the part of the Costco staff, and a combative, deterministic mindset from responding officers.

‘Anti-homeless spikes’ outside London flats spark outrage on Twitter

Metal spikes many believe have been installed to deter homeless people from sleeping in an alcove outside a block of flats in London have sparked outrage on Twitter, after pictures of the building went viral.

Mr Horton told The Telegraph he believed the studs have been put in place to prevent homeless people from sleeping there.

“I can’t say for certain but it certainly looked like they were placed there to deter homeless people. It’s dreadful.”

Obama security team ponders black ops mission to kill Taliban 5 in Qatar

A former U.S. intelligence official, who worked on covert operations throughout the Middle East and Latin America, claims the scuttlebutt among Beltway security experts is that there may be an a abrupt end to the freedom of the Taliban terrorists released from Guantanamo Bay's detention center, he intimated on Sunday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Bergdahl scandal has become a litany of one failed decision after another. First there was the plan to offset the VA scandal by bringing home an American hero. Only that did not work out because the hero turned out to be a deserted and defector. This put the focus on the five Taliban who were released, which, although they may well have been among the 1/3 of Guantanamo detainees already cleared for release by the military tribunal, have been promoted as "really bad guys" in the media. So now the response by the White House is to renege on the release by sending on the drones to kill these five guys and a hundred innocent bystanders, and the White House apparently seems to think this will make the scandal go away!

I Owe My Soul

Let's put the song aside for the moment and have a look at a concept that has been bandied about by the European Central Bank (ECB) for a while now. Since the collapse of the central banks would doom the world (their claim, not mine), it is essential that the banks be saved no matter what else must be sacrificed. Efforts to "save" the situation have been implemented through quantitative easing (QE) and the setting and continuation of low interest rates.

Unfortunately, in spite of record profits by banks and staggering bonuses handed out to senior bank executives, somehow the QE and low interest rates have not created the prosperity desired. The economy is still in the tank. What to do?

A solution being considered is to create "negative interest rates." Sounds logical, doesn't it? If low interest rates have kept the economy from crashing but haven't fixed it, surely, negative interest rates can only be more positive.

Department of Homeland Security Brands ThisCantBeHappening! a ‘Threat’

ThisCantBeHappening! has just learned that our little news organization was listed, in an alert fired off to all 78 Fusion Centers by Kelly Wilson, Director of the Washington DC Fusion Center’s Regional Threat and Assessment Center, as a potential threat.

The stated role of the Fusion Centers, which were created (and lavishly funded) in the wake of 9-11, was to link federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in order to better detect and combat terrorists inside the US. So what about this threat posed by ThisCantBeHappening!, though? Well, as Threat Assessment Director Wilson explains in her alert, the threat is that TCBH! published an article suggesting that the Fusion Centers played a central role in orchestrating the attacks on Occupy Movement actions in cities all across the US.

The other Cold War that no one talks about

As usual, the biggest story in America is suppression of news. There has never been a time when the media has taken such an aggressive position, not even after 9/11. It’s more than Ukraine or Syria. The US has not only outraged Russia and China but other nations that were once afraid of the US are now ready to hit back. The simplest way to go after the US is to release classified intelligence showing the US as an aggressor nation or worse, a dupe, violent, dangerous and uncaring.

We forget what it was like, the carefully orchestrated orgy of hate after the nuclear demolition of the WTC and the missile attack on the Pentagon. This is one of many shameful moments in American history, where a nation abandoned common sense and backed a gang of traitors whose common purpose, all can see now, was and is the destruction of the United States and “her freedoms.”

Game Changer: FDA Rules No Wooden Boards in Cheese Aging

A sense of disbelief and distress is quickly rippling through the U.S. artisan cheese community, as the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) this week announced it will not permit American cheesemakers to age cheese on wooden boards.

Recently, the FDA inspected several New York state cheesemakers and cited them for using wooden surfaces to age their cheeses. The New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets' Division of Milk Control and Dairy Services, which (like most every state in the U.S., including Wisconsin), has allowed this practice, reached out to FDA for clarification on the issue. A response was provided by Monica Metz, Branch Chief of FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition's (CFSAN) Dairy and Egg Branch.

In the response, Metz stated that the use of wood for cheese ripening or aging is considered an unsanitary practice by FDA, and a violation of FDA's current Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations.

Email Self-Defense

Bulk surveillance violates our fundamental rights and makes free speech risky. This guide will teach you a basic surveillance self-defense skill: email encryption. Once you've finished, you'll be able to send and receive emails that are coded to make sure that a surveillance agent or thief can't intercept your email and read it.

Even if you have nothing to hide, using encryption helps protect the privacy of people you communicate with, and makes life difficult for bulk surveillance systems. If you do have something important to hide, you're in good company; these are the same tools that Edward Snowden used to share his famous secrets about the NSA.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Everyone should get into the habit of developing and using strong encryption, if for no other reason than the NSA doesn't know who they should be paying attention to. Business owners especially should be using strong encryption because the US Government has a long track record of stealing business secrets for their own personal gain.

The New McCarthyism

Once again vast sums of money are being spent on a war, this time a hot one and getting hotter. Once again parties with a vested interest are out to smear and destroy anyone who dares ask if the wars are worth the sacrifice of our young people (not to mention the money), indeed if there really is any point at all to the wars aside from justifying the flow of money to defense contractors.

But the Soviet Union has gone out of business. The word "communist" doesn't carry the same psychological impact it used to, so the war hawk smear squad has come up with a new one, "Anti-Semite." Like "Communist", "Anti-Semite" is used to ruin the lives of people who have not actually done anything wrong other than to challenge the war profiteers. It is a new word for an old trick, and I am amazed that they are still playing the same old game, but I guess the FBI can always find some dumb-assed idiot to fall for it and do their dirty work of wrecking a career for them.
