CIA Insider Warns: "25-Year Great Depression is About to Strike America"

You will want to remember this date June 22, 2015.

According to one of the top minds in the U.S. Intelligence Community, that is when the United States will enter the darkest economic period in our nation's history.

And alarmingly, he and his colleagues believe the evidence they've uncovered proves this outcome is impossible to avoid.

In an exclusive interview with Money Morning, Jim Rickards, the CIA's Financial Threat and Asymmetric Warfare Advisor, has stepped forward to warn the American people that time is running out to prepare for this $100 trillion meltdown.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Yes this could be avoided. Shut down the private central banks, declare thew accumulated debt created by this Ponzi scheme system null and void, and the global economic problem will be solved!

Houston P.D. Orders All Officers Turn Off Body Cameras During Protest

“We’re going to go ahead and turn off the personal video devices going forward, so be sure all officers have them turned off when engaging the protesters.” The words cut through me and chilled my spine as I sat, helplessly handcuffed in the back of a Houston Police cruiser after being arrested in the midst of a protest.

As an activist who has been around the block a few times, I knew that little would endanger a crowd more than a crowd of officers who had just received an order from higher up to disable their own personal accountability.

IRS seizes woman’s entire bank account because she deposited money ‘suspiciously’

A woman’s entire bank account was seized by the Internal Revenue Service — without so much as a criminal charge — because the agency claimed she deposited money “suspiciously.”

This is the plight of Carole Hinders, who has been running a Mexican restaurant for the last four decades. Accepting cash only from customers at the restaurant, she makes frequent cash deposits to her checking account.

As part of the federal government’s dragnet surveillance of the civilian population, everyone’s banking activities are monitored for “red flag” activities. One of these is frequent cash deposits totaling less than $10,000. Using this vague criteria, Ms. Hinders was thought to fit the profile of a financial criminal.

Man charged with breaking a trooper’s fist with his face

A motorist was viciously beaten, tasered, and maced repeatedly, then charged with 24 separate crimes and maliciously prosecuted for every one of them. He was beaten four (4) times over the course of 11-hours, and not once had he acted maliciously. The incident stemmed from his driving while on an unusually high dosage of legally-prescribed bipolar medication and a subsequent fender bender. Dash-cam footage revealed the extraordinary exaggerations made about the case — 2 years after it took place.

Blackwater Lobbyist Will Manage House Intelligence Committee

After lobbyist-run SuperPACs and big money efforts dominated the last election, legislators are now appointing lobbyists to literally manage the day-to-day affairs of Congress. For the House Intelligence Committee, which oversees government intelligence operations and agencies, the changing of the guard means a lobbyist for Academi, the defense contractor formerly known as Blackwater, is now in charge.

Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA), the incoming chairman of the Intelligence Committee when the House reconvenes in January, announced that Jeff Shockey will be the new Staff Director of the committee. As a paid representative of Academi, Shockey and his firm have earned $80,000 this year peddling influence on behalf of Academi.

A Long Island, New York, mother of three has been awarded $1.12 million by a federal jury after she was falsely arrested while taking pictures at an Air National Guard base in the Hamptons, with a legally owned AR-15 rifle and ammunition in the trunk of her car.

Nancy Genovese, 58, said she was taking photos for a "Support Our Troops" website when she was detained and arrested by Suffolk County authorities, Britain's The Guardian newspaper reported.

How the CIA Launched the «Financial Pearl Harbor» Attacks on Russia and Venezuela

The net result of the CIA-inspired fracking operations, which the Saudis were warned not to pursue by petroleum engineers working for some foreign-based firms like Schlumberger, is that there will be an oil supply glut for the next 5 years. The glut will be followed by a reduction in Saudi oil production unless new oil fields are brought on line. There is now a major push by U.S. and Canadian oil companies to bring online the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the United States to offset the expected sharp rise in oil prices in four to five years. But with Canada suffering financially from the drop in oil revenues, the Keystone XL project is also on financially shaky ground.

While these events are usually extremely secretive, photographs of this particular Ball surfaced on the web. In short, it is a mix of an “Eyes Wide Shut”-style masked ball mixed with a Lady Gaga-style pop video. I’m not even kidding. Hillsborough officer bullied into signing doctored statement, inquest hears

A senior South Yorkshire police officer bullied a constable to sign a doctored statement about the Hillsborough disaster, the new inquest into the deaths of 96 people at the football ground has heard.

PC Michael Walpole told the inquest that he feared his job would be made “a misery” if he did not sign the amended statement, in which several of his original comments had been deleted, because he had seen other officers hounded out of the police in similar circumstances.

Walpole said that at the time he believed it was “out of order” for his statement to have been doctored, and he initially refused to sign it. He was then required to go to South Yorkshire police headquarters at Snig Hill in Sheffield to meet a chief inspector, Alan Foster, with two other constables, Peter Smith and Maxwell Groome, who were also refusing to sign their changed statements.

NSA Firefoxed: Mozilla team-up with Tor to improve internet privacy

The internet browser Mozilla is teaming up with Tor to give internet users greater security online. The new Polaris project is designed to combat internet censorship and make NSA like intrusion’s a thing of the past.

Edward Snowden’s revelations concerning the extent of the National Security Agency’s spying on the general public, hit computer and internet enthusiasts hard. A poll conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of the internet company Mozilla last month, found that three quarters of those surveyed feel that their personal information on the web is less secure than it was one year ago.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The comment in the article about the NSA not being able to find a TOR users identity is not entirely accurate. Recently it has come to light that if a user has the flash player installed on their computer, malicious code inside a flash object can detect the source IP of the request despite the onion network, which is why the current implementation of TOR recommends users not have the flash player installed. However I think that Mozilla and TOR will close that exploit (if they have not already done so).

As a general rule, everyone ought to be using anonymity tools and strong encryption, even if you do not really have anything to hide, to jam the NSA with added workload and confuse them as to who they should be looking at. For your local data protection or small-group communications, I strongly recommend investing the time to develop your own encryption methods using the code snippets in the NSA Challenge page as examples.

U.S. Declares (Currency) War On Russia

U.S. economic terrorism (i.e. the One Bank’s economic terrorism) has hit a new extreme this week. This crime syndicate has launched what can be termed nothing less than an all-out effort to destroy the economy of Russia.

Its modus operandi is, once again, currency manipulation. What is the quickest/easiest way to destroy an economy? Drive the value of its currency as close to zero as possible. The effect of such a manipulated “devaluation” is a massive explosion in inflation. And the effect of that is to make all Russians much poorer.

The economic destruction caused by this economic terrorism affects Russians, and the Russian economy on a percentage-for-percentage basis. Each percentage lower that the banksters drive the ruble with their criminal manipulation makes Russians, and the Russian economy 1% poorer.

Government Prosecutors Fear Liberty and Jury Nullification

I thought you’d be interested to know that the government has asked the judge to limit the defense by not allowing any of Ross’ political or philosophical beliefs to be introduced to the jury as they might influence the jury in his favor. The prosecution goes so far as to say that they fear that exposing the jury to his political thought could invite a jury nullification verdict.

The government obviously doesn’t want this trial to become about internet freedom, the drug war, or liberty. But these crucial issues are on trial along with Ross. This trial is poised to be the most important of 2015 in the fight for freedom. Obviously the government thinks so. They are doing their best to smear Ross and obstruct his defense.

Cops caught on film threatening weeping girlfriend of man they had just mistakenly shot dead in Walmart for holding a BB gun

Footage has emerged of police in Ohio aggressively questioning the girlfriend of a man who they had just shot dead for holding a BB gun in a Walmart store.

An officer from the Beavercreek department repeatedly demands to know where the slain John Crawford III, 22, got his 'gun' from in an interview with his weeping girlfriend, Tasha Thomas.

Thomas, who is not told until the end of the interview that her loved one has died, is clearly distressed by the line of question from the disbelieving officer, Rodney Curd, who repeatedly suggests she is lying.

The NSA wrote turkey-day talking points, because of course it did

Thanksgiving can be a touchy time for families with divergent politics. If not Obamacare, it's a good bet that somebody, somewhere was facing off with an aunt or uncle about the NSA.

Defenders of the spy agency might have found this set of talking points helpful. Distributed internally by the NSA the week before Thanksgiving and reported earlier today by Firedoglake, the two-pager — a literal set of bullet points — armed employees with verbal ammunition that they were encouraged to share "with family and close friends."

Boston Bombing: Feds Admit No Evidence Tsarnaev Brothers Involved in the Slayings

For nearly any crime requiring a “Whodunnit” answer in Boston around the time of the April 15, 2013, Marathon bombing, the authorities answered: The Tsarnaev brothers.

One egregious crime pinned on them was a grisly Sept. 11, 2011, triple murder in Waltham, Mass.

Now, prosecutors in the trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have delivered a shocking reversal. They admit to having no evidence that his dead brother, Tamerlan, was involved in the slayings.

That wasn’t the case right after the bombing: law enforcement fingered Tamerlan as the perpetrator, and suggested Dzokhar may have been involved. Much of the media has presented it as fact ever since.

This is a pattern we’ve seen since the bombing: The government feeds prejudicial information (usually anonymously) to the press, implying Tamerlan and Dzhokhar’s guilt, despite having flimsy or no evidence. In the most extreme example, prosecutors had to completely recant their accusation thatthe brothers robbed a 7-Eleven.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The FBI was trying to coerce Ibragim Todashev into saying that the Tsarnaev brothers were the killers in the triple murder, but apparently Ibragim resisted to the point where he was shot several times by one of the FBI agents, including a kill shot to the top of his head. The FBI agent has never been charged with the murder, carried out while trying to frame someone else for a murder.

How Congress Secretly Just Legitimized Questionable NSA Mass Surveillance Tool

We recently noted that, despite it passing overwhelmingly, Congress quietly deleted a key bit of NSA reform that would have blocked the agency from using backdoors for surveillance. But this week something even more nefarious happened, and it likely would have gone almost entirely unnoticed if Rep. Justin Amash's staffers hadn't caught the details of a new provision quietly slipped into the Intelligence Authorization Act, which effectively "legitimized" the way the NSA conducts most of its mass surveillance.

Congress approves plan to allow pension cuts

More than a million retired and current truck drivers, construction workers and other union workers could see their pension benefits cut now that Congress passed a proposal aimed at shoring up some of the nation's biggest pensions.

Tacked on as an amendment to the government's $1.1 trillion spending bill, the proposal was approved by the Senate late Saturday night.

While those sponsoring the pension proposal say it is "the only available option" to save failing multiemployer pension plans, other groups -- like the AARP and the Pension Rights Center -- are crying foul.

Months after the formation of new financial institutions like the $100 billion BRICS Bank and the China-led Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank, Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said Friday that the organization is ready to discuss IMF voting reforms without the United States to give BRICS and emerging countries greater voting power.

Lagarde said the IMF is disappointed with the US inaction to ratify the governance and quota reforms and will now move forward without Washington.

“The IMF’s membership has been calling on and was expecting the United States to approve the IMF’s 2010 Quota and Governance Reforms by year-end. Adoption of the reforms remains critical to strengthen the Fund’s credibility, legitimacy, and effectiveness, and to ensure it has sufficient permanent resources to meet its members’needs,” Lagarde said in a statement.

The Global Bankers’ Coup Coming to US with Bail-In Bill

On December 11, 2014, the US House passed a bill repealing the Dodd-Frank requirement that risky derivatives be pushed into big-bank subsidiaries, leaving our deposits and pensions exposed to massive derivatives losses. The bill was vigorously challenged by Senator Elizabeth Warren; but the tide turned when Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorganChase, stepped into the ring. Perhaps what prompted his intervention was the unanticipated $40 drop in the price of oil. As financial blogger Michael Snyder points out, that drop could trigger a derivatives payout that could bankrupt the biggest banks. And if the G20’s new “bail-in” rules are formalized, depositors and pensioners could be on the hook.

The vast majority of the U.S. Senate openly disagreed with Sen. Cruz’s attempt to enter opposition to President Obama’s executive order on immigration, on the grounds it is unconstitutional, in the omnibus spending bill for 2015.

US to give Israel $350mn for Iron Dome

The US Senate has approved a multi-billion-dollar military spending bill that includes $350 million for Israel’s Iron Dome missile system.

The Senate passed the bill on Friday by a 89-11 vote.

The bill was sent to the White House for President Barack Obama's signature.

The 2015 defense authorization bill also authorized $521.3 billion for Defense Department operations, and about $64 billion for overseas military operations.

The House of Representatives last week approved the National Defense Authorization Act by a 300-119 vote.

Five billion dollars are allocated for the fight against the ISIL terrorist group. The money should be spent for the training and arming of the so-called moderate rebels in Syria for two years and for the training and assisting of Iraqi and Kurdish forces.

Earlier this month, US Vice President Joe Biden announced that the Obama administration had provided Israel with more than $17 billion in military aid since 2008.

Outsourcing Atrocity: The School of the Americas and the C.O.I.N. Fundamentalists

Since its founding in 1946, the School of the Americas has trained tens of thousands of police and military personnel in Latin America and the Caribbean. Not by coincidence, its graduates were involved in some of the worst atrocities of the 20th century – from filling the ranks of Haiti’s brutal Tonton Macoutes to training the founders of Mexico’s paramilitary narco-cartel Los Zetas. It’s no exaggeration to say that the School of the Americas has painted an entire region in blood.

While the School left a permanent mark on countries throughout the hemisphere, the doctrine it expounded has also metastasized into an intellectual cancer infecting the way NATO countries in the post-Soviet era fight the Wars on Drugs and Terror. This is a story of studied incompetence, torture and murder. And judging by the militarized response of American police departments, from Occupy Wall Street to Ferguson, the trend isn't just going global: it's also coming home.

Obama under fire for castigating Bush-era torture program and claiming moral high ground all while his administration kills 'thousands of innocents' during droning of terrorism suspects

President Barack Obama is under fire this week for the way his White House has excoriated the previous administration for employing tactics it would categorize as torture all the while launching drone strikes on terrorism suspects abroad.

The enhanced interrogation techniques used by the CIA during the George W. Bush administration on 39 detainees resulted in just one death, Obama's critics have pointed out. Drone strikes conducted by the current occupant of the White House have killed more than 2,400 people.

After claiming all week that the release of a Senate Intelligence Committee report detailing the brutal tactics employed by the Bush administration to elicit information from terrorists was necessary in order for the U.S. to reassert it's 'moral authority,' the White House was forced on Friday to state on record that it doesn't believe its drone policy erodes the moral high ground on which it thinks it stands when it comes to human rights.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This man is seriously, and dangerously, out of touch with the carnage his drone strike policy has caused, and the damage it has done to world perception of American jurisprudence.

Torture is absolutely wrong, and the only people who defend it are sick, twisted pieces of work who probably belong in an institution.

But extrajudicial assassinations are completely contrary to both the spirit, and literal interpretations, of the Constitution, and Bill of Rights. They are un-American in the extreme, in a society where presumption of innocence is the basis upon which all suspected criminals are to be judged by a jury of their peers.

It is an interesting psychological insight into our President that this is his preferred method of killing people he deems "dangerous".

Defense Bill Passes, Giving Sacred Native American Sites To Mining Company

The U.S. Senate passed a measure authorizing the nation’s defense programs Friday, and along with it managed to give lands sacred to Native Americans to a foreign company that owns a uranium mine with Iran.

The $585 billion National Defense Authorization Act of 2015 is one of the must-pass pieces of legislation that Congress moves every year. But like they did in attaching extraneous riders to the must-pass government funding bill, lawmakers used the defense bill as a vehicle to pass a massive public lands package.

The bill sailed through on a vote of 89 to 11.

Many of the land measures were popular. But one, the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange and Conservation Act, had twice failed to win support in the House of Representatives, blocked both by conservationists and conservatives.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You've got to wonder how many members of the Senate own shares in this company. Oh, and about the country's "environmental record", if one can call it that?!?!

The following seems to be pretty damned representative of this:

Me’ekamui, the ‘Sacred Island’ of Bougainville is seen by its people as a natural, God-given inheritance to be willfully preserved from generation to generation. These indigenous people flourished here for thousands of years—thriving on the island’s rich resources of rain forested land and teeming rivers. Generations of Bougainvilleans built their culture into a productive self-sufficient economy. Since time immemorial, land on Bougainville has been owned on a clan basis, being passed down from mother to daughter. Land boundaries are well known, and have been respected for thousands of years. According to custom, clans hold the rights to the land, the sky above and the earth below. Disrespecting this longtime custom, corporate greed bloodied the heart and soul of Bougainville with the construction of the Panguana mine. Desperate Survival Once Rio Tinto set foot on their land in 1960, the villagers witnessed almost an immediate sense of loss. Their health, environmental resources and livelihood were forsaken for corporate gain. Almost immediately, the Bougainvilleans fell sick from exposure to the mine’s toxins, chemicals and air pollutants. Upper respiratory infections such as Asthma and TB became more common, and even killed people. Children became ill with coughs, colds and chronic ear infections. Many women even died giving birth, because of the lack of basic medicine and care. As Rio Tinto ravaged the island mining for copper, the company dumped waste rock and tailings, turning the river valleys into a virtual wasteland. Fish and whole forests died, depleting the villagers of their major food source, and eliminating their cash cropping systems. The villagers lost their property due to ongoing environmental contamination. Their water became non-potable, and they were forced to come up with other resources for survival. Unable to live this way, the people pleaded to Rio Tinto to give them control of their own land surrounding the mine. When Rio Tinto ignored their request, the Bougainvilleans united in the name of their culture and fought for their right to their inherent resources. The Bougainvilleans’ fight for their rights left many people dead and many more injured. Three entire principal villages were relocated, and many life-long inhabitants were forced to flee the island. - See more at: http://the-truth-reveal.blogspot.com/2007/09/rio-tinto-environmental-destruction.html#sthash.SNSrWetU.dpuf

And then, there's this lovely little story from Mongolia:

The Network is focusing support in Mongolia, where Rio Tinto has invested billions and mine workers are particularly vulnerable. The company has a US $6 billion investment in the vast Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold mine in the Gobi Desert. Workers there are represented by IndustriALL affiliate the Federation of Energy, Geology and Mining Workers’ Trade Unions of Mongolia (MEGM). Last year, Rio Tinto was condemned by the Supreme Court in Mongolia for wage discrimination against Mongolian nationals and unfair dismissal. The company also faced international criticism for sacking thousands of workers in the country without adequate consultation. ndustriALL assistant general secretary Kemal Özkan says that with the campaign, IndustriALL Global Union aims to build union power at Rio Tinto plants around the world, uniting workers in the struggle for decent work: “Rio Tinto has extensive experience in causing one conflict after another with trade unions, indigenous organizations, environmental groups and other key community stakeholders. Unions and civil society are coming together in an unprecedented way to push back against Rio Tinto for the benefit of workers, the environment and communities.” “For far too long, Rio Tinto has systematically put profits before people, sometimes with fatal consequences like the recent deaths at the Grasberg mine in Papua New Guinea. Workers are saying enough is enough,” says Kemal Özkan. The Network meeting follows a global day of protests on 7 October as as part of IndustriALL’s campaign to demand a new era at Rio Tinto.

More slow genocide for America's First Nations: more profit for a company whose "contributions", most likely, have lead to the electoral success of many of those senators voting for this rider.

Former Anderson cop sentenced – again – on rape charge

A former Anderson police officer who admitted raping a woman in his custody was sentenced Friday in Sacramento federal court to five years in prison, based on his guilty plea of violating the woman’s civil rights.

Bryan Robert Benson, 30, was originally charged in 2011 in Shasta Superior Court with rape and kidnapping, and would have faced life in prison had he been convicted. Instead, he was sentenced to 364 days in jail after pleading no contest to felony assault by a police officer and to soliciting a lewd act, a misdemeanor.

Shasta County prosecutors said at the time that the outcome was dictated by a loophole in the law that would have allowed Benson’s lawyers to argue the sex was consensual because the woman had not yet been booked into jail.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This loophole in California law should be fixed, and right the hell now.

Spain passes tough new 'anti-protest' law

Spain on Thursday finally passed its new controversial Citizen Security Law which opponents say will severely limit civil liberties in the country.

The unpopular law contains retains existing fines of up to €600,000 ($746,000) for unauthorized protests outside buildings "which provide basic services to the community", a definition that encompasses everything from hospitals to universities and the Spanish parliament.

The new law, which the government argues will ensure public security, also forbids the photographing or filming of police officers in situations where doing so could put them in danger. This could result in a fine of up to €30,000. Showing a "lack of respect" to those in uniform, meanwhile, could lead to a fine of €600.

The law has been dubbed the 'ley mordaza' or 'gag law' by opposition groups and the Spanish media, many of whom believe the law will curtail individual rights.

Congress Passes Temporary Tax Breaks for Big Business Now for 15 Years Straight

Last week, the House voted to extend special interest tax breaks, most of which expired at the end of last year. The 55 provisions included in this year's package are the legacy of the Bush-era tax cuts that began in 2001. But 15 years later, these temporary tax break meant to stimulate a slowing economy have mutated into a slew of provisions that mostly help corporations avoid taxes. According to the bipartisan nonprofit Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, these tax extenders have sapped the U.S. government of $44 billion in lost revenue over the past decade. And while some provisions do help individuals in the middle and lower classes, like tuition credits and deductions for teachers buying school supplies, three-quarters of that lost revenue has gone to big businesses.

The House narrowly approved a sweeping spending bill Thursday night despite deep misgivings among liberals and conservatives alike, sending the measure to the Senate as lawmakers averted a partial government shutdown.

"Misgivings." That is Congress' reaction to the provision in the bill that dump $300 trillion (with a 't') in derivatives exposure onto the taxpayers, and allow pension funds who have lost money to Wall Street's frauds to slash benefits to the retired workers that paid that money into the pension fund in the first place.

Pension plans to be looted nationwide as Congress okays institutional theft of funds

When societies approach collapse, coercion shifts to outright theft: Stealing money right out of your bank account, for example, like we recently witnessed in Cyprus. Government also routinely target pension funds and even private retirement accounts, attempting to keep itself afloat by any means necessary.

Just like clockwork, that looting of pension plans is now about to commence. "Congress could soon allow the benefits of current retirees to be cut as part of an agreement to address the fiscal distress confronting some of the nation's 1,400 multi-employer pension plans," writes Michael Fletcher of the Washington Post. [1] The Post continues:

"This proposal would devastate retirees and their surviving spouses," said Karen Friedman, executive vice president of the Pension Rights Center, a nonprofit group. "The proposal would also torpedo basic protections of the federal private pension law ... that states that once benefits are earned, they can't be cut back."

“Verschärfte Vernehmung” (Yes, that’s Nazi for ‘enhanced interrogation’)

After listening to CIA director John Brennan’s long-winded attempt at community relations today, only three words come to mind…

Ya vol Commandant!

And then maybe these two words, “Verschärfte Vernehmung”. As it happens, those two German words are straight out of the Gestapo’s own manual on torture. Translated from German to English, it means, ‘enhanced interrogation’ - you get that fancy term we keep hearing about this week, you know, that thing that’s ‘keeping America safe’.

Senator: Bush misled nation in run-up to Iraq war

The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee released new information on Thursday that he claims is evidence that the Bush administration misled the nation in the run-up to the war in Iraq.

In a speech on the Senate floor, retiring Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., outlined a 2003 CIA cable that warns George W. Bush administration officials against making references to claims that Mohammad Atta - the man who led the 9/11 hijackers - met with an Iraqi intelligence officer in the Czech Republic before the Sept. 11, 2011, attacks. Levin claims Bush officials used the unconfirmed meeting to link Iraq to 9/11 to justify the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

All wars are started with lies. The people of the initiating nation do not want to go to war, as it is dirty, hard, dangerous, and ill-paid. No ruler dares come out and say, "Attack this other land because I want them attacked." Nobody would listen, or would demand a just share of the loot. Thus, the leaders who out of their own greed and lust for conquest must deceive the populace into thinking war is their only option, with frauds such as the Gleiwitz incident, torpedoes in the Gulf of Tonkin, Spanish mines in Havana harbor, or 9-11.

New evidence Bush misled Americans into Iraq war – senator

The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee has released new information claiming the Bush administration misled the American people in the run-up to the war in Iraq.

Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) said on Thursday that a 2003 CIA cable warns the administration of former President George W. Bush against making reference to claims that Mohammad Atta – the leader of the 9/11 hijackers – had met with an Iraqi intelligence officer in the Czech Republic before the attacks.

Levin, who is retiring, maintains that Bush officials used the unconfirmed meeting to link Iraq to 9/11 and Al-Qaeda in order to justify the US invasion in Iraq.

CIA boss says 9/11 attacks justified CIA enhanced interrogations

CIA Director John Brennan recounted the horrors of the 9/11 attacks in defending his agency’s use of enhanced interrogations.

Mr. Brennan made the remarks in a rare press conference in the wake of a Senate report released earlier this week the outlined aggressive tactics used by CIA officers to extract information from suspected terrorists.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. Brennon

Do you remember the Israelis arrested after being seen celebrating the collapsing Trade Center buildings? Do you remember that 3 of them were identified as Mossad agents?

Do you remember that just before 9-11, a massive Israeli spy ring, the largest foreign spy ring in US history was uncovered? Do you remember how Carl Cameron's four-part FOX News story on that Israeli spy ring included a quote from a US Government official that there was evidence linking those arrested Israeli spies to 9-11, but that this evidence was classified by the US Government?

Do you remember the Israelis stopped in New York on 9-11 whose truck tested positive for explosives?
Israelis stopped on 911 in New York with trucks showing signs of explosives?

Do you remember that every airplane used on 9-11 departed from an airport gate whose security was managed by an Israeli company?

Do you remember how Netanyahu stated that 9-11 was good for Israel?

do you recall Israel's long history of false-flag operations such as the Lavon affair and the attack on the USS Liberty?

So before you go any further with this bovine excrement about how 9-11 justified the torture of Muslims, tell us all how many Israelis were tortured to find the truth about 9-11?

Congress Passes Bill Granting “Unlimited Access to Communications of Every American”

According to Congressman Justin Amash, Congress just passed a bill, (Dec 11th 2014) which grants the government and law enforcement “unlimited access to the communications of every American”.

When the Michigan lawmaker discovered that the Intelligence Authorization Act for FY 2015 had been amended with a provision that authorizes “the acquisition, retention, and dissemination” of all communications data from U.S. citizens, he desperately attempted to organize a roll call vote on the bill.

However, the legislation was passed yesterday 325-100 via a voice vote, a green light for what Amash describes as “one of the most egregious sections of law I’ve encountered during my time as a representative”.

The bill allows the private communications of Americans to be scooped up without a court order and then transferred to law enforcement for criminal investigations.

I am not a cryptographic expert, and only a moderately decent programmer, but I came up with six methods which defied decryption. The NSA would be well motivated to have broken my challenges in order to discourage people from starting to create their own codes. I, on the other hand, encourage people to create and use their own codes, both to defy the government's unconstitutional behavior, and to make it impossible for them to steal our business secrets, or nude pictures of our spouses or children. Inside the NSA encryption challenges are the code samples used to create the encryption methods, to use as a learning example.

FALSE FLAG WARNING - Chicago A Top Terror Target; Ominous Tweet Connects ISIS Threat In City

Over the past six years, Chicago has become a top potential target for international terrorists, a top security expert said Friday, making the posting of a veiled threat by Islamic radicals on Twitter a higher cause for concern.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Right now Washington DC is in a corner and desperate. The official confirmation of the use of torture on innocent victims has destroyed the moral authority of the United States. Foreign nations, who knew all along what was happening, but stayed silent for political reasons, are now free to vent their disdain openly.

DC needs a distraction. They need to refocus the public attention on war. They need, like Israel, to regain the victim status.

The defenders of the torture regime justify their actions on the basis of 9-11, and nothing would serve them better than a repeat right now in these last weeks before Christmas.

Hence, we are suddenly seeing all these stories about ISIS is already in America and ready to strike. FOX News ran a poll in which they reported 81% of Americans say ISIS will attack on US soil soon. No American actually knows what ISIS will do, outside of those US officials conducting this clandestine operation. But while prudent minds might balk at a new false-flag operation in a world where the public already distrusts the official story on anything, DC is desperate, and desperate animals take desperate chances!

Are Rush Limbaugh And Fox News Still Laughing About Torture?

Last spring, Palin appeared before an NRA convention crowd and laughed about how liberals supposedly coddle America's mortal adversaries. "Oh, but you can't offend them, can't make them feel uncomfortable, not even a smidgen," said Palin. "Well, if I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists," The NRA audience roared with approval, but even some conservative commentators who saw the tape of Palin's wisecrack took offense, upset that she had linked bodily torture with a Christian sacrament. ("It's disgusting.")

Palin, of course, hardly stands alone among conservative media commentators who have spent years not only downplaying the grievous practice of torture adopted by the Bush administration, but who have routinely made light of the cruel tactic previously banned by the United States.

Your Survival Depends On Taking Your Money Out of the Bank

Nearly every publication estimates the derivatives debt to be in the range of one quadrillion dollars to $1.5 quadrillion dollars. Conservative estimates tell us that this derivatives debt, that has been assumed by the governments of the world, is at least 16 times the entire value of the assets of Planet Earth. This generation cannot pay off this debt. Your children, grandchildren and even great-great-great-great-great grandchildren cannot pay off this debt. If the status quo were to remain in place this debt could not be paid off in the 25th century, the 30th century, nor the 50th century. My estimates place the interest on the debt to exceed the entire value of the world’s assets and the interest is increasing far faster than the governments of the world can service the debt. Who is the debt owed to? It is owed to the first movers, the owners of the central banking system.

Leadership courts centrist support for $1.1T spending bill as shutdown looms

Congressional leaders were trying to hold the center in the run-up to Thursday’s government shutdown deadline, with Senate Democrats and House Republicans pleading for their troops to back a $1.1 trillion spending bill that had those on both extremes of the ideological spectrum fuming.

House Republican leaders touted dents to the Internal Revenue Service budget and Environmental Protection Agency staffing levels, language that stalls some of President Obama’s plans to battle climate change, and the chance to fight the White House’s deportation amnesty next year as reasons to get behind the massive 1,600-page bill.

Webmaster's Commentary:

THIS IS A CALL TO KEYBOARDS FOR ALL RIVERO'S RANGERS!

Wherever you see any articles, posts, or blogs about raising the debt ceiling, please post the above graphic, or quote the following...

"The question Americans should be asking is not whether to raise the debt ceiling, but rather why the Federal Government, which is authorized by the Constitution to create and issue interest-free money, instead borrows that money at interest from a privately owned central bank, thereby plunging future generations into debt slavery to that bank? THAT is the real question Americans should be asking!"

This quote is already making the rounds but we need to put this in front of the eyes of every American that we can over the next week as Congress debates just how much further they will sell us all into the slavery of the private central bankers.

Illinois Passes Law Making it a Felony to Video Police

There's one way and one way only to stop police abuse: Criminally prosecute it, then allow civil penalties.

In a podcast today with Chris Martenson, Chris suggested civil penalties should come straight out of the police retirement fund, not taxpayer pockets.

But as with CIA torture, government does not really want to stop abuse, they want to stop reporting the abuse.

The great lie of our time

In all International Relations (IR) classrooms throughout the English-speaking world, something called the democratic peace theory is taught. The theory holds that countries are less likely to go to war if they are democracies, and that installing democratic regimes is therefore the path to peace and security in the world. Paradoxically, the theory is more often applied to justify wars than to end them.

Democratic peace theory is a large part of the underlying rhetoric behind the United States’ commitment to “democratization” in the world’s conflict zones, particularly the Middle East and the former Soviet Union. While the US supplies arms to dictatorships it falsely labels “democracies,” it works to overthrow governments that were actually democratically elected.

Congressional leaders hammer out deal to allow pension plans to cut retiree benefits

A measure that would for the first time allow the benefits of current retirees to be severely cut is set to be attached to a massive spending bill, part of an effort to save some of the nation’s most distressed pension plans.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These pension plans were put into distress when Wall Street's pet ratings agencies rated the mortgage-backed securities as "Triple A", making it legal for pension plans to invest in them. Then when the fraud collapsed in 2008, pensions were defunded. But nobody in either government of the corporate media had the gonads to point the finger of blame for the pensions problem where it belonged and instead blamed "greedy" workers and anyone who had the temerity to live to a ripe old age. So, together with the proposal to drop the derivatives losses onto the American people, this proposed bill is another example of Congress screwing ordinary Americans to pay for Wall Street's crimes!

When Police and Journalists Become “Media Partners”

Major news media consider the FSU shooting more or less a closed case. After all, journalists appear to have been spoon-fed a story that includes its own sort of “The End” moment. A madman with a gun showed up in a public place. Terrified witnesses were interviewed and their fearful testimony publicized. The shooter’s bizarre online statements were duly noted. Then, official pleas for “unity,” “strength,” and “healing” were unquestioningly parroted, and less than two days later the entire affair was capped off with a photo op candlelight vigil.

With the notion of a full scale, coordinated media production in mind, it should be unsurprising that law enforcement and news media now consider themselves to be “partners” in such a tragedy’s public presentation.

I once asked what the profile of a torturer is and the answer was, your next door neighbor if he is convinced you are a threat. That is probably true but the answer is incomplete. I think there are sadists out there who do wind up in the military. And, it is a tool of terror which makes many very hesitant to join the opposition. Today many aren’t opposing anything – they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Will Lawmakers Sneak a Gift to Wall Street into the Spending Bill?

Under cover of legislative chaos, lawmakers from both parties are working this week to preserve taxpayer-backing for some of Wall Street’s riskiest activities.

The deal taking shape would be slipped into the catch-all federal spending bill that is meant to finance the government in 2015, according to Capitol Hill sources who are not authorized to speak publicly. It would effectively repeal a plank of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law that would force big banks to conduct their most speculative derivatives trades in separately-capitalized subsidiaries, where they would be ineligible for federal deposit insurance, Federal Reserve assistance or other taxpayer-provided support.

The point of the law is to end the “heads I win, tails you lose,” game on Wall Street, in which the biggest banks keep the lavish winnings from their bets while pushing catastrophic losses onto the public, as happened in the financial crisis.

Former Rep. Joe Walsh applauds torture: Rectal feeding is ‘job description’ of an ‘American hero’

Radio host and former Republican Rep. Joe Walsh suggested on Wednesday that anyone who participated in torture techniques like rectal forced feedings or chaining prisoners naked to the floor were “American heroes.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to Joe Walsh: sir, your amazingly studied lack of understanding of what the use of torture does to the perception of what this country is, both at home and abroad, is, to put it mildly, stunning.

When America either tortures prisoners of war, or outsources it to some third world thugs, the following happens.

1. People understand that, at the top levels of US government, those very values that used to put us in a unique place as a people and a country, those values including human rights, human dignity, and decency are simply discarded.

2. That there are some really emotionally twisted pieces of work at the highest levels of US government, who get off on doing/watching this kind of torture being done. I would suspect, sir, that you may well be one of those people.

Humankind has known, from the time of the Catholic Inquisition, that torture only gets the tortured individual to say what the torturer wants them to stay in order to get the torture to stop.

One of the master interrogators of World War II was the German Hans Scharff. Instead of using torture, he used what information he could gather from the POW's backgrounds. as reported at worldwarhistoryonline:

Hanns Scharff (left) always made sure he knew about the personal circumstances of prisoners of war before interrogating them Much of the debate about the interrogation of suspected terrorists has been about whether the methods used, such as waterboarding, could be described as torture. Historian Julian Putkowski examines how a German Luftwaffe interrogator used persuasion rather than punishment to get prisoners of war to talk. During the latter part of World War II lots of allied fliers got shot down over Germany. Many of the survivors - or terrorfliegers as they were termed by the Nazis - got rounded up and were dispatched to Luftwaffe's interrogation unit at Dulag Luft POW Camp, near Oberursel. After being marched into the camp, they were placed in solitary confinement and in spite of the provisions of the Geneva Convention, they anticipated rough handling, possibly having their fingernails torn off by Nazi torturers. Aircrew who anticipated a Gestapo-style battering were in for a surprise when they encountered Obergefreiter Hanns Scharff, who had acquired fluent English when working as a businessman in pre-war South Africa. Although his inscrutability secured him the nick-name Stone Face, he was otherwise a genial fellow. He was a self-taught interrogator who used persuasion rather than punishment as a strategy for getting Allied prisoners of war to disclose more than the customary name, rank and number, permitted by the Geneva Convention. Scharff always began by doing his homework thoroughly. Before commencing an interrogation session, he checked all available data, generally acquainting himself with whatever was known about the pilot's service and personal circumstances. The Scharff method, if so it may be called, relied on the initial premise that it was better for a flier to co-operate with the Luftwaffe, instead of being regarded as a spy and handed over to the Gestapo. Even though there were a few prisoners who remained button-lipped, Scharff resolutely refused to descend to using physical coercion. Instead of using pliers to squeeze information out of prisoners, Scharff got what he and his superiors wanted by playing on a prisoner's sense of isolation and psychological insecurity. Carefully deploying what were sometimes meagre scraps of data, Scharff sought to create the illusion of total knowledge about a prisoner's activities. Misled into believing that the interrogator knew just about everything anyway, the latter could then be bamboozled into disclosing military secrets. Scharff appeared to reverse the overtly adversarial relationship between interrogator and prisoner by adopting a subtle, softly-softly approach.

3. And Joe, I would like to strongly caution you on your mindless cheerleading of CIA torture: when the US tortures, it gives some bad guys who don't necessarily like us very much carte blanche to torture both American military members, and American civilians. Did that notion ever cross your mind?!?

Thought not

Remember: Hitler praised the Gestapo and the SS as "heroes".

U.S. PROTESTERS DEMAND: END SECRECY, RELEASE THE TEXTS ON TRANS-PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP

Cassidy Regan, trade organizer for Popular Resistance, remarked that after public pressure the European Union recently agreed to release its negotiating proposals for the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership to the public. The EU wanted to release the full text of the agreement but was blocked by the United States.

“The trade agreements being drafted in secret threaten everything from worker rights and wages to public health and access to medicines. The negotiators keep texts hidden because these agreements aren’t made with the public in mind — instead, they serve to give transnational corporations further power to exploit people and the planet for the sake of profit. The unprecedented lack of transparency denies communities’ right to know policies that could impact so many aspects of our lives, for generations to come.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

FDR’s 1933 Gold Confiscation was a Bailout of the Federal Reserve Bank

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s 1933 executive order outlawing the private ownership of gold in the United States was arguably unconstitutional. But why did he do it ? Many historians and economists point to efforts to get the economy moving again as the reason, the theory being that people were hoarding gold and the velocity of money in circulation needed to be sped up.

But the real reason for the gold confiscation was a bailout of the privately-controlled Federal Reserve Bank. And the evidence has been printed right in front of our faces.

Fox melts down after torture report: ‘The United States of America is awesome, we are awesome!’

Fox News analysts, hosts and reporters on Tuesday wasted no time in blasting Democrats after Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) released a report condemning the CIA’s use of torture and other enhanced interrogation techniques.

Just moments after Feinstein announced on the floor of the Senate that the Intelligence Committee had made the long-delayed torture report public, Fox News National Security Analyst K.T. McFarland insisted that Democrats were going to “do harm” to the country by angering terrorists.

McFarland, who said that torture techniques were both legal and justified by the horrific terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, argued that Democrats were only releasing the report for political reasons.

U.S. Tortured and Killed Innocent People for the Specific Purpose of Producing False Propaganda

According to NBC News:

Much of the 9/11 Commission Report was based upon the testimony of people who were tortured

At least four of the people whose interrogation figured in the 9/11 Commission Report have claimed that they told interrogators information as a way to stop being “tortured.”

The 9/11 Commission itself doubted the accuracy of the torture confessions, and yet kept their doubts to themselves

BREAKING: Sheriff Joe Just Made His Move Against Obama

Just days before Thanksgiving, following months of threats and promises, President Barack Obama acted in a purely dictatorial manner to change immigration law and defer deportations for millions of illegal immigrants, effectively granting them amnesty.

OR DID HE?

IT'S RECENTLY COME TO LIGHT NO EXECUTIVE ORDER HAS EVER BEEN WRITTEN!

Arizona’s Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been one of the many voices warning about Obama’s actions.

Now he has now taken the huge step of filing a lawsuit against Obama to stop the government from implementing his unconstitutional plan to bestow amnesty on certain illegals.

Now that the lawsuit has been filed, WND is reporting on a motion filed seeking a preliminary hearing to request an injunction against Obama’s executive branch, and the agencies that make it up, to prevent them from further engaging in implementation of Obama’s unilateral changes to immigration law.

De-Manufacturing Consent- “State Kills with Impunity in the Land of the Free”

Did the Rodney King verdict in 1992 set the precedent for police today to get away with murder, even when caught on camera? Has recording technology and surveillance made things better or worse? Are there comparisons to be made between the state violence experienced in the United States and that in Mexico and other parts of the world, and what is to be gained from mass protest?

‘German govt acts like masters of the universe within the EU’

Despite the German economy facing a crisis it is still the strongest in Europe. That is why Germany keeps dictating the EU path and asserts itself as the dominant power within the Union, Ernst Wolff, journalist and author, told RT.

A French member of the European Parliament, Jean-Luc Melenchon, has advised German Chancellor Angela Merkel to “shut up.” This Sunday using his twitter feed the founder of a French left party and former education minister responded angrily to Merkel’s call for France to introduce more economic reform. He said she should concentrate on Germany’s own problems.

Obamacare Creates Boom for Federal Contractors

The new money is buying medical-record software, insurance websites, claims processing, data analysis, computer system overhauls, consumer education and consulting expertise to control costs and identify fraud.

True, it’s a fraction of the $200 billion-plus the Pentagon spent on planes, bombs and other purchases in fiscal 2014. But thanks largely to automatic cuts set in 2011, defense contracting has dipped by more than a third since 2008 despite continuing conflict in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

Alternative Media and the MH17 JIT Reversal

After weeks of protests and growing suspicion, Dutch authorities overseeing the investigation of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 have finally included Malaysia as a member of its Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

Malaysia had made it clear it was immensely displeased with its inexplicable exclusion from JIT formed after the downing of MH17 over eastern Ukraine. Including NATO members (Belgium and the Netherlands), a defacto NATO collaborator (Australia) and a potential culprit in the air disaster (Ukraine), Malaysia’s exclusion looked to be a part of an ongoing cover-up amid a larger attempt to use the disaster to frame Russia and advance NATO’s agenda in Eastern Europe.

What Bad, Shameful, Dirty Behavior is U.S. Judge Richard Posner Hiding? Demand to Know.

Like so many federal judges, Judge Posner recognizes rights only when they belong to agents of the state or the economic elite. When it’s ordinary citizens at issue, he snidely rejects any such protections. Of course, this is exactly backwards: those exercising public power (police officers) have a lower entitlement to privacy than private individuals. But power-servants like Judge Posner view only actors of the state and those who serve it (such as himself) as entitled to these prerogatives. That’s become the corrupt essence of the U.S. justice system, and it’s perfectly expressed by Judge Posner’s radically divergent views based on whose privacy is at stake.

Hawaii under martial law was like ‘military dictatorship’ (1941-1944)

Islanders suffered under nearly three years of martial law from 1941-1944; so oppressive that it was later described by a federal judge as a “military dictatorship.” All manner of civilian liberties were replaced by oppressive military orders enforced by American soldiers.

The dark period of Hawaiian history began on December 7, 1941, with the massive surprise attack of Japanese bombers on the U.S. Naval Base Pearl Harbor. The air raid successfully sunk or grounded 18 ships and killed 2,403 Americans.

As the smoke billowed from the harbor, Lieutenant General Walter Short met with Territorial Governor Joseph Poindexter to convince him to declare martial law. Being coerced through tactics discussed below, Gov. Poindexter reluctantly ceded power to the military — temporarily, or so he thought.

US cops could be in firing line ‘if system doesn't change’

If American police officers keep pushing the limits of their powers and there are no changes in the police system, people who are strongly frustrated will take their anger out on the authorities, Erik Nation, an American pastor, told RT.

The US has been inflamed, coast-to-coast, by recent protests against police brutality. Erik Nation, pastor of Zion Tabernacle the House of Prayers, thinks some things the police did were uncalled for and there will be repercussions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russia today correctly calls these protests against police brutality. Only in the US does the corporate media try to portray this as a racial issue.

Rothschild Bankers Lobby Congress To Force Taxpayers To Insure $TRILLIONS$ Of Fraudulent Bank Derivatives!!

As Michael Snyder notes, JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citibank, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, and plenty of others have manipulated the market with these derivative bets, and have at least $40 trillion in derivatives exposure. If Congress passes FDIC protection for these controversial and complex financial instruments, it could dwarf existing debt held by the federal government and cost taxpayers an absolutely insurmountable sum, all while letting the bankers walk away free, and with their other winnings in hand.

Taylor Twit and those Heroin Model Rock, Eyes of Darkness.

One of the things that comes into my mind with regularity and which always stuns me to some degree and which may be why it comes into my mind with regularity, is what the Supreme Court did with conferring personhood upon corporations. The job of the Supreme Court is to interpret and, I presume, also defend… The Constitution. Not in the wildest dreams of the architects of the Constitution, would there ever have been a consideration like this. The Constitution and Bill of Rights were created to protect against this very sort of thing. What they did is High Treason and a capital crime. US intelligence fears violence, deaths abroad after CIA torture report release

The US intelligence agencies predict that the publication of a Senate report on the use of torture on terror suspects by the CIA will cause “violence and deaths” abroad, with security beefed up at US foreign installations.

The 480-page report on Central Intelligence Agency’s interrogation techniques after 9/11 is to be to be released next week. The document is a summary of a larger 6,000-page study, which still remains classified.

The US intelligence agencies as well as foreign governments have said privately that the publication of the paper will be used by the extremists to promote deadly violence, Rep. Mike Rogers, a Michigan Republican, told CNN’s State of the Union program.

Rogers questioned the very need for the report to be released as the investigation of CIA torture by the Justice Department saw no criminal charges filed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF US alphabet soup "security" agencies were worried about the ultimately results of the torture report, perhaps they should have forbidden the us of torture against US-held prisoners of war from the beginning of the conflict.

We have known, from the time of the Catholic Inquisition, that torture rarely produces actionable intelligence, but gets the tortured to confess to ANYTHING in order to get the torture to stop, no matter how ridiculous the charges may be.

And I think the American people deserve to know just what their tax dollars bought, in terms of the lengths to which these torturers went, to inflict both the highest level of physical and emotional pain to those in their charge.

I will remind our readers (and if you have a weak stomach, you'd bloody better not read the remainder of this post) about what was done to one Binyam Mohamed, a British resident, held at Gitmo. As reported on February 9, 2009, at commondreams.org:

Last week, two British High Court judges ruled against releasing documents describing the treatment of Binyam Mohamed, a British resident who is currently being held at Guantanamo Bay. The judges said the Bush administration “had threatened to withhold intelligence cooperation with Britain if the information were made public.” But The Daily Telegraph reported over the weekend that the documents actually “contained details of how British intelligence officers supplied information to [Mohamed's] captors and contributed questions while he was brutally tortured.” In fact, it was British officials, not the Americans, who pressured Foreign Secretary David Miliband “to do nothing that would leave serving MI6 officers open to prosecution.” According to the Telegraph’s sources, the documents describe particularly gruesome interrogation tactics: The 25 lines edited out of the court papers contained details of how Mr Mohamed’s genitals were sliced with a scalpel and other torture methods so extreme that waterboarding, the controversial technique of simulated drowning, “is very far down the list of things they did,
the official said.

Folks, is this America a country you can respect, the land of the allegedly free, and the home of genital mutilation in order to achieve a confession?!?

IS THIS what it means to be an American, in the 21st century, that we have embraced a culture of torture against prisoners of war?

I sure as hell hope not: and if I sound angry, I am. An America that tortures prisoners of war to extract confessions is not the America in which I thought I lived, or believed in.

That America, with morals, and roots in fairness, democracy, and humanitarian values, appears to have gone the way of the dribble glass or the Whoopie cushion. This is made painfully apparent by our celebrity worship; our mindless consumerism; our economics; and these constant drives toward war as the only way to save a flailing economy, rather than let go of our debt-based system, always poised to make the bankers richer.

NATO Prepositions Weapons in Poland for Attack on Russia

The lengthiest excerpt from the article that’s online is at NATO’s own site, the PR delivered straight from the horses’ mouth, http://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/natosource/russia-fears-prompt-na..., which posting there is certainly validation that the article represents NATO’s position accurately, even if it does so in ‘appropriately’ vague terms. (Of course, that’s not “appropriate” for readers, but for NATO, which is the weapons-manufacturers’ trade-organization, that’s being served in this ‘news’ story.)

Webmaster's Commentary:

A NATO-led war against Russia would be utterly disastrous for the West; and if you have a difficult time of wrapping your head around that, just look at the incredible "victory" NATO has wrested from the rebels in Afghanistan, 13 years on. Their "contribution" to the US war effort here has been one very sick joke.

And please don't get me started on the aftermath of their "victory" in Libya, with the ouster of Gaddafi, which has only exacerbated the instability here, to the point where various African countries are tag-teaming their military to control the insurgents. The future of Libya is still very much up in the air.

To put it plainly, NATO and the US do not have the money, the troop strength, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a war with Russia; and this is what makes the military confrontation scenario so scary.

And in terms of Russia's manufacturing and purchasing of war equipment, although they are not spending as much as the US government, the Russians are getting a lot more bang for their buck than does the US.

A war against Russia would be the last, desperate act of a criminally insane Western leadership.

Secretive Pro-Corporate Trade Deal Could Endanger Health, Labor, Environment

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is being sold as the world’s biggest trade agreement, with the potential to affect hundreds of millions of Americans and Europeans. So why is it being negotiated in near-total secrecy?

The pact has European food, labor and other advocates up in arms. They say the deal, known by its TTIP acronym, benefits corporations at the expense of the public.

Among the more grave potential consequences: environmental damage, reduced financial regulation, and the placement of corporate rights above those of sovereign nations.

Amid all the hush-hush, one fact stands out: a big place at the negotiating table has been reserved for lobbyists who represent multinational corporations. This has allowed them to argue against including in the final treaty a number of consumer-friendly regulations and standards.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Should this agreement come to fruition, you can bet on two things happening: it will be terrific for multinationals, and completely lousy for We the People.

Senator Jay Rockefeller singlehandedly kills Freedom of Information Act reform

The House unanimously passed a bill that would bring much-needed improvements to the Freedom of Information Act; the Senate had bi-partisan support for it, too -- but outgoing Sen Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) singlehandedly killed the bill in a closed-door committee meeting.

For 509 other members of Congress, these concerns were not enough to halt progress of much-needed reforms. It’s not clear which provisions the Senator is referring to, or what experts across the federal government he is referring to, because this short statement, issued at 6:30 PM on Friday after a full day of advocates, journalists and citizens asking for an explanation, doesn’t explain.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What a lovely parting gift from Senator Rockefeller to the American people; absolutely no transparency from the government which ALLEGEDLY represents them.

Way to go there, Jay!
