Must Read: Fed Employees Rollout A Bold Idea To Trap The Entire Country’s Wealth

A major financial news source just published shocking details about a research report by two employees at the Federal Reserve Bank. The 36-page report applauds the use of “capital controls” in global markets.

If you’re unfamiliar with the term “capital controls,” it’s probably because we tend to avoid them in the United States in favor of a free market economy.

Capital controls are simply laws that regulate and restrict what you are allowed to do with your money by regulating the flow of cash in and out of a national economy. The laws define such things as where you can invest your cash and how you can allocate your assets.

If you take a look around the globe, you’ll see several recent example—almost always from countries experiencing a currency crisis

American Oligarchs – Their Money, Our Votes

Contrary to Professor Robert Reich, America is already an Oligarchy and is moving fast toward Monarchy. The shameful and degrading events in Last Vegas last week, is an insult to every American voter and to America. One would think that in “democratic America” potential political candidates would go directly to the people, to their constituents to seek their input and to sound off their ideas and chances for winning elections, not go to Las Vegas and kneel before someone like Sheldon Adelson, the King of American politics. Criminalizing Criticism of Israel in Canada

It's evident that the pro-Israel lobby has been active in mobilizing politicians in the "friendly capitals" of Washington, Ottawa, and Canberra for many years. he Obama regime has issued simultaneous threats to the enemy it is making out of Russia and to its European NATO allies on which Washington is relying to support sanctions on Russia. This cannot end well.

Why Are Americans Paying to Be Searched, Spied On, Shot At and Robbed Blind by the Government?

The State Department wants $400,000 to purchase a fiberglass sculpture of a camel looking at a needle for its new embassy in Pakistan. They’ve already spent their allotted $630,000 to increase the number of “likes” and fans on their Facebook and Twitter pages. The NATO ambassador for the U.S. needs $700,000 for landscaping and gardening, the National Science Foundation would like $700,000 to put on a theatrical production about climate change, and the Senate staffers need $1.9 million for lifestyle coaching. Also, Yale University researchers could really use $384,000 so they can study the odd cork-screw shape of a duck’s penis.

I promise this is no belated April Fools’ joke. These are actual line items paid for by American taxpayers.

Post-Constitutional America, Where Innocence is a Poor Defense

Rahinah Ibrahim is a slight Malaysian woman who attended Stanford University on a U.S. student visa, majoring in architecture. She was not a political person. Despite this, as part of a post-9/11 sweep directed against Muslims, she was investigated by the FBI. In 2004, while she was still in the U.S. but unbeknownst to her, the FBI sent her name to the no-fly list.

Ibrahim was no threat to anyone, innocent of everything, and ended up on that list only due to a government mistake. Nonetheless, she was not allowed to reenter the U.S. to finish her studies or even attend her trial and speak in her own defense. Her life was derailed by the tangle of national security bureaucracy and pointless “anti-terror” measures that have come to define post-Constitutional America. Here's what happened, and why it may matter to you.

No longer rights that are inviolate

The case was decided March 28, 2014. The US Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the Bill of Rights is no longer made up of “Declaratory and Restrictive Clauses.” They are judicially now perceived as “privileges.” A “privilege” can be revoked for the slightest of legislative causes, but a “Right” is “Forever Inviolate” … We the People no longer have that.

Obama’s Hegelian Deception: NSA ‘Overhaul’ Forces Telecoms to Collect More Data

In the new American Stasi States, it’s been imperative for White House technocrats to ‘never let a good crisis go to waste’. Instead of repealing the unconstitutional Patriot Acts (these legally enable illegal gov’t practices), the public outrage over the NSA’s rape of 4th Amendment privacy rights has been used by President Barack Obama to order the seizure of even more of our metadata.

Even better now, instead of the NSA collecting and storing up to 30% of our phone records and communications, Obama has ordered that US telecoms firms store ALL of our data, and will come calling when they want it. Very clever.

In other words, the whole operation has just gone “more corporate” now. More fascist.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Common sense dictates that one avoids all phone calls and all internet communication for anything sensitive or delicate: that is simply reality for Americans at this point.

Obama, the Sauds, and Bottomless Hypocrisy

Based on the given pretexts the Western World has used to justify a belligerent foreign policy toward other nations, it would appear that Saudi Arabia is a suitable candidate to likewise be subjected to sanctions, internal political meddling, and open calls for regime change. Yet for some reason, it most certainly is not. Instead, it is clearly protected by media self-censorship and diplomatic double standards across the West.

While the US recently closed Syria’s embassy in Washington and ordered Syrian diplomats out of the country claiming, “it is unacceptable for individuals appointed by that regime to conduct diplomatic or consular operations in the United States,” the US gladly continues its close relationship with Saudi Arabia. This is even after revelations have come to light that the Saudis have been funding and arming terrorists listed as such by the very US State Department that shuttered the Syrian embassy in D.C.

Free Thinking Is Now Considered A Mental Illness

The Soviet Union used new mental illness for political repression.

People who didn’t accept the beliefs of the Communist Party developed a new type of schizophrenia.

They suffered from the delusion of believing communism was wrong. They were isolated, forcefully medicated, and put through repressive “therapy” to bring them back to sanity.

Now thanks to thought policing by the American Psychiatric Association the latest addition of the DSM-IV(Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) is setting up the dominoes for arbitrary diagnosis of any dissenting individuals.

Listed as new mental illnesses are above-average creativity and cynicism. The manual goes on to identify a mental illness called “oppositional defiant disorder” or ODD.

Obama boasts 10 million Americans signed up for Obamacare – after Medicaid and PRISON INMATES are FORCED TO JOIN

Three million lower-income Americans have enrolled in the Medicaid program for the poor so far during the rollout of U.S. President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law, the administration announced on Friday.

That brings the number of people who have signed up for both public and private health coverage to 10 million since the October 1 launch of Affordable Care Act.

Massive theater, smoke and mirrors desperately invoked to portray Obamacare as a success

The Obama administration and its friends in the press and public policy sector have gone all in to declare the President's signature piece of legislation, the Affordable Care Act, a "success" now that 7 million people have allegedly signed up for coverage under the law's exchanges.

Sony Demands Removal of Open-Source Indie Short ‘Sintel’ From YouTube

Sony Pictures has demanded the removal of the CGI short film Sintel from YouTube due to a claim of copyright infringement. One small problem: they don’t actually own anything in the film.

Sintel, a film by Colin Levy which has been featured before on Cartoon Brew, was created by the Blender Foundation, the non-profit organization which promotes the free, open source 3D software Blender. The crowdfunded short was made using entirely original materials, and was licensed as Creative Commons Attribution 3.0, which means that anyone can freely share the movie.

The removal of the film is most likely the result of a faulty DMCA take-down request, but it speaks to a bigger and more troubling issue: corporations today have unprecedented control to wipe independent creators off the Internet.

Presidential Rule by Deception: Obama, the Master Con-Man

Petras pulled no punches saying “(i)n an electoral system, run by and for a corporate oligarchy, deception and demagoguery are essential elements – entertaining the people while working for the wealthy.”

Every US president does it. All congressional leaders. It’s “de rigueur” to pretend to be “everyman.” It persists while committing “war crimes worthy of prosecution.”

It’s play-acting. It’s duplicity. Obama is the “master of deceit.” He lacks an honest bone in his body.

He condemns torture while practicing it. He denounces Wall Street excess while supporting it. He wages one war after another while promising peace.

He backs Palestinian rights while trashing them. He supports the worst of Zionist militancy. He ignores institutionalized Israeli racism.

Tucson cop who randomly slammed woman to the ground not so tough after receiving threats

The Tucson police officer who was caught on video brutally pummeling a female student as she walked innocuously near the campus of the University of Arizona has been identified as Joel Mann, according to local ABC affiliate KGUN.

Tucson’s police department has reassigned Mann after a large number of anonymous threats were made against him, reports the Daily Mail.

All told, about 50 police officers showed up in riot gear Saturday night. Numerous bystanders say the officers began to act with great hostility toward people in the vast crowd—essentially starting the riot they were sent to prevent.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That the officer was not summarily sacked for his behaviour against this woman betrays a really insidious, dark collective mindset at the heart of police administration in this city. I wonder: did they take training from the IDF? I note that there are two schools in Tucson which teach this technique, called "Krav Maga". Unfortuntely, the more American police train with the IDF, or former IDF, more and more innocent Americans are treated just like the IDF treats the Palestinians.

Too often, around this country, the phrase "to protect and serve", which used to define American policing, has been replaced by a brutal philosophy of "to maim and kill with impunity".

High School Student Arrested For Telling Principal He's "Disappointed" In Him

In Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana students staged a sit-in over the school's failure to acknowledge a student's suicide. Of note is the fact the principle responds to their protest by saying he's "in charge" and ordering everyone to get out their IDs, basically acting like a two-bit thug cop. After one student makes a snarky comment that he's "disappointed" in the principle, he then orders the student be arrested, to which the lackey cops present immediately oblige.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These kids were obviously in emotional pain at the death of one of their classmates.

An open invitation to group counseling, for those who asked for it (WITH parental permission) right after this suicide happened would have been the right way for the administration to handle it; saying nothing, and doing nothing, was a pretty lousy response, and drove these kids to feeling that they had to do something, even if that something was a disruption to their day.

Mass Incarceration and Capitalism

With no public acknowledgement of the irony the U.S., the ‘land of the free,’ has both the highest incarceration rate in the world and the largest overall prison population. The dominant public perception appears to rest at the local level: the state has the right to prohibit socially destructive acts; people commit socially destructive acts and they are put in prison. Left largely unconsidered is the nature of the democratic capitalist state that claims this right to incarcerate. American history places it squarely in the service of economic interests. The country was founded on genocide and slavery.

The estimate, released by the Chicago-based Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, reflects enrollment activity among 35 Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in 47 of the 50 states, including plans sold by WellPoint Inc, from October 1 through February 1.

That data could help shed light on the integrity of administration figures that show 7.1 million people have signed up for private health insurance under President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare reform law.

The Coming Obamacare Shock for 170 Million Americans

Barack Obama declared victory this week as the deadline to avoid the penalty for the individual mandate to carry health insurance passed on Monday. “The Affordable Care Act is here to stay,” the President insisted as he announced that 7.1 million people had enrolled in private insurance through Obamacare. “The debate over repealing this law is over.”

Consider that presidential wish casting in a midterm cycle in which Democrats will have to constantly defend their support for the unpopular law. As Jimmy Fallon pointed out later the same evening, the numbers were neither impressive nor reliable. “It’s amazing what you can achieve when you make something mandatory,” Fallon told his laughing audience, “fine people if they don’t do it — and keep extending the deadline for months.”

There’s a Reason They are Called “Courts….”

In our post- 911 America, it is becoming increasingly clear that the rule of law only applies at the discretion of the monarch. And that would be the judge sitting in that particular court.

Unlike removing a President, it is nearly impossible to remove a judge. Lifetime appointments in many cases coupled with laws prohibiting suing a judge (even for “malicious and corrupt practices”) have given the judiciary a nearly godly form of immunity.

A recent attempt in one of these courts….well, you can’t really call them courts of law at this juncture, so let’s call them courts of judicial privilege….to recuse the sitting probate judge in San Bernardino County could be seen as an example of the futility of exerting the rule of law today.

HHS Started People’s Obamacare Applications For Them Ahead Of Deadline

Before the Obamacare enrollment deadline the people at the Department of Health and Human Services took it upon themselves to obtain individuals’ personal information and start their applications for insurance. Then they mailed the individuals letters informing them that their applications were pending and to go to healthcare.gov to confirm the information and complete the process. The Shark Tank reports that this was happening in Florida, but you have to wonder if other states were also sending personal data to HHS to help them get these applications started.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So HHS was starting enrollments for people then sending letters to get them to click "confirm" on healthcare.gov to get the numbers up to Obama's 7 million at the end.

Mass surveillance is the new norm. Big Brother is watching you and listening to you always. With the help of microscopic cameras and wireless concealable microphones and precise location tracking devices, he is keeping his tabs on you twenty-four hours a day.

He is randomly searching you on trains. He is groping you at airports. He is flagging you down in remote country locations and ordering you to open the trunk of your car so that he can inspect it for drugs, stolen children, and human heads in plastic bags. If you’re a woman, he can taser you and rape you and then put you in handcuffs for resisting arrest.

Orwell never imagined it could be quite so bad.

CPS Harrasses Mother For Legal Hemp Seed Oil Usage & Medical Cannabis Activism

Meet Renee Petro. She is the mother of Branden Petro, aka Branden The Brave, a young boy who suffers from FIRES, or Febrile Infection Related Epilepsy Syndrome. It is a form of epilepsy that takes place in kids 3-15 years old. Branden was eight when he got FIRES. The seizures caused by FIRES are destructive, and cause damage to various parts of the brain. As if that were not enough to deal with, Renee has had CPS called on her recently for giving her child 100% totally legal hemp seed oil, and being a vocal activist for medical cannabis here in Florida. She has not done anything wrong, yet this is the harassment she has to deal with. Still through all of this she is like a fierce lioness protecting her cubs that will not stop until she changes the law in order to save her son.

Anyone can make a mistake. The best solution is to acknowledge it, make amends if needed, and move forward, striving to learn from the experience. Far too many entities opt instead for bluster, obfuscation and intimidation, rather than deal with the consequences of their screwup. Cross of Iron Speech

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

This world in arms in not spending money alone.

It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities.

It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population.

It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals.

It is some 50 miles of concrete highway.

We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat.

We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people.

This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking.

This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.

Police cadets in New Mexico trained to have “warrior mentality” and to use more deadly force

The face of evil IMHO! This is why all the police murders of Americans by APD!

The director said he'd rather burn his curriculum than disclose it to the media. NEW MEXICO — All new police cadets will be trained to use more deadly force — not less — thanks to a new curriculum by director of the state’s Law Enforcement Academy. Cadets are being trained by the former Army Colonel to have a “warrior mentality” with a strong emphasis on “Officer Survival.” The cadet program, which has also been shortened by six full weeks, leaves cadets more paranoid and more prone to use deadly force, critics say.

Jack Jones, a retired Army colonel, was granted sole authority by the LEA over the training curriculum given to all of New Mexico’s new recruits. He says the old model was too restrictive with the use of deadly force.

“Evil has come to the state of New Mexico. Evil has come to the Southwest. Evil has come to the United States,” Jones said to the Santa Fe New Mexican.

U.S. Marshals Shoot Unarmed Man in Albuquerque, Seize Cell Phone Cameras from Witnesses

As Albuquerque residents take to the streets to protest against the ongoing slayings of citizens by their local police department, federal agents got into the act by opening fire on an unarmed man Tuesday morning, then seizing cameras from witnesses.

But more citizens with cameras arrived on the scene as a group of U.S. Marshals stood around the victim, Gilberto Angelo Serrano, proving unafraid to voice their displeasure at the trigger-happy culture that apparently has seeped into all levels of law enforcement in Albuquerque.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem for New Mexico residents isn't just Albuquerque: it is happening throughout the state, and for the following reason. As reported in Freedom Outpost, the police siege in New Mexico can be laid at the foot of one man, the developer of police training for that state: Jack Jones.

Incidents have occurred with enough frequency in the state to trigger a Department of Justice investigation that launched in 2012 and is still ongoing. The state's police forces have become infamous for shooting at minivans full of kids and for their penchant for Roswellian anal-probing of supsects. Yet, the man who designs the training programs for the state's police departments doesn't see a problem. In fact, he has instituted a curriculum that puts LESS restraint on officers in deciding when to use deadly force. Jack Jones is the director of the Law Enforcement Academy. The New Mexican reports that he has been granted full control over the design of the basic training program: In September, the state's eight-member Law Enforcement Academy Board, which is appointed by the governor and chaired by the attorney general, voted unanimously to change the New Mexico Administrative Code to give complete control over the curriculum to Jones. Greg Williams, an Albuquerque attorney and president-elect of the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government, said before the board voted on the change, it had a process that included public involvement. "What they did was to change the process so that the public could not be involved," he said.

Here is another article, reported this February from Blacklistednews.com:

All new police cadets will be trained to use more deadly force, thanks to a new curriculum by director of the state’s Law Enforcement Academy. That training emphasis will take place in a cadet program that has been shortened by six full weeks. Officer Elias Montoya opens fire on the minivan filled with a woman and 5 children suspected of speeding. (Source: New Mexico State Police) When journalists filed an official request for a copy the academy’s new curriculum, Jones refused, saying it would give criminals an edge. “I’ll burn them before you get them,” he told The New Mexican. His new training program, which began January 20th, has also been shortened from 22 weeks down to 16 weeks, leaving many questioning what skills are being dropped from the curriculum while more deadly force is being added. The decision to train cadets to shoot at fleeing vehicles comes at a sensitive time for New Mexicans. In October of last year, a New Mexico State Trooper opened fire on a minivan containing a mother and 5 children that was fleeing a traffic stop. A month later, a New Mexico State Police officer shot a female driver in the back of the head for trying to evade a traffic stop. These officers were trained under the old standards that were too “restrictive” for the modern cop. Should New Mexicans expect a rise in deadly shootings from the students of Col. Jones?

IF this unhinged police activity persists, the state of New Mexico needs to immediately change its motto to "New Mexico: the land of disenchantment!"

I would strongly caution ANY thinking person NOT to visit the state while this man is still in offce, and for the people with the capability to migrate do so, before they find that it is a loved one or family member who has been shot and killed or maimed for life for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

APD Ad Absurdum

Albuquerque has been in the news a lot this weekend, and the focus of these news stories has almost always been wrong. Almost all these stories seem to be about how the latest protests here on Sunday, March 30, over the Albuquerque Police Department's latest killings got way out of hand, or turned into riots, and none of them seem to be at all interested in anything other than the official stories fed by official channels to the media.

In the Prime Minister’s view, any profound criticism of Israeli policies and governance can only be a product of antisemitic hatred, spewed forth by people who are simply looking for further ways of victimizing Jews. Canadian Jews could be counted among those victimized in this manner, for those who do not actually hold Israeli citizenship are all potentially Israeli nationals, under Israel’s Law of Return.

We will most likely never know what prompted one officer to shout "Do it" to his colleague. The homeless man reportedly had a knife, but he was also slinging his bag on his shoulder and moving away.

The distance between the man and the cops totally precluded him stabbing them with anything less than a lance many yards long.

Why Did Officers Have to Shoot this Teen Nine Times?

Aren't the cops supposed to protect and serve?

Two Clinton, Oklahoma parents called police back in December 2013 because they were worried their 18-year-old son, diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder, might harm himself.

Apparently he did not have to harm himself. Moments after police entered the house, they shot the boy dead.

The New Nihilism

A new nihilism is starting to appear in the United States. Like the Lost Generation, this malaise proceeds from multiple sources.

First and foremost is the reality of ongoing wars, inevitably leading to a new global war, started with the very weapons that ended the last global war. Having been raised with decades of dire warnings about how nuclear weapons can end the world amid cold-war exhortations to build personal fallout shelters, it should not come as a surprise that most people equate the current military buildup as a prelude to that much predicted end of the world. This is not metaphor; the kids with those brass keys in the silos can really do it. Who wants to work hard to build a future that might vanish in a flash of white light?

Why Wasn’t the NSA Spying on Bloomberg Chat Rooms Where Unprecedented Market Rigging Was Taking Place?

In recent months we’ve learned that the National Security Agency (NSA) has been spying on tens of millions of law-abiding citizens’ emails and telephone calls placed through companies like Google, Yahoo, Verizon, AT&T and Sprint Nextel. What the NSA does not appear to have been spying on are the Bloomberg chat rooms where real financial frauds involving potentially trillions of dollars in trades have been occurring for years.

Now, the ultimate embarrassment has occurred for those sleuths at the NSA. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that investigators probing a new line of market manipulation, rigged foreign currency trading, have found that potential lawbreakers were so cavalier about their conduct that they used chat names such as “The Bandits’ Club” and “The Cartel.”

How the FBI Goes After Activists

The FBI first became interested in Tom and his fellow travelers on the eve of the 2008 Republican National Convention in Saint Paul, Minnesota, when the bureau that purports to keep America safe sent an undercover agent who went by the name “Karen Sullivan” to infiltrate the Twin Cities Anti-War Committee, one of the most prominent groups organizing protests outside the convention. The agent couldn’t uncover any wrongdoing whatsoever, but soon she made her way to another left-wing organization in the Midwest, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), a group that includes Tom and a number of other activists who received subpoenas.

Her cover was fashioned to appeal to the bleeding-heart leftists she sought to entrap and imprison—“Karen’s” identity was practically a caricature of a socialist activist.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, FBI, here's the deal with me: I advocate peace and good faith negotiation, and never violence. I am a woman of both faith (a Methodist, to be precise) and logic. I am an equal opportunity smiter of BOTH political parties when they are not working for the good of the American people (which is generally most of the time), and someone who believes in providing both kids and adults with an education in logic and critical thinking, love, and non-judgement.

In Thailand, A New Kind of Protest

Protesters put down placards and pick up pragmatism as they begin solving the problems created and/or neglected by the regime they oppose.

Tony Cartalucci
Activist Post

Since late October, 2013, protesters across Thailand have taken to the streets, occupied rally sites, seized government buildings and made their grievances known to the world. They stand in opposition of the regime of Thaksin Shinawatra - a Wall Street-backed billionaire autocrat, convicted criminal, accused mass murderer, and fugitive who is openly running the country from abroad via his nepotist appointed proxy, his sister, Yingluck Shinawatra.

Not entirely unlike other protests seen unfolding around the world, large mobilizations have periodically flooded the streets of Thailand's capital city of Bangkok, at times attracting over a million protesters.

Arizona Republicans try to pump $1 mil into private prison for non-existent inmates

Private prison company GEO Group coaxed around $1 million out of Arizona Republicans, despite assertions by the state Department of Corrections that the money is not needed based on the state’s contract with GEO Group.

The last-minute funding attempt came late Friday, when Arizona House Appropriations Chairman John Kavanagh (R) added $900,000 into a budget proposal after GEO Group lobbyists convinced him that the company was not seeing enough profit from emergency inmate beds it supplies Arizona’s prisons in Phoenix and Florence.

Albuquerque security forces use tear gas on raging protesters after fatal police shooting

Albuquerque police have violently cracked down on protesters, using tear gas and arresting several demonstrators, after over nine hours of unrest. Hundreds expressed their anger over last week's police shooting that saw a homeless man killed.

At the beginning of the rally, protesters asked police to take responsibility for their actions.

“The police serve us, they do not kill us,” one protester told the local KRQE media outlet, while one of the demonstrators held a sign that read, "APD: Dressed To Kill."

Another activist, Alexander Siderits, 23, told AP he was participating because he was "fed up" with how police treat citizens.

"It has reached a boiling point, and people just can't take it anymore," he stressed.

Greenwald goads NSA over ‘staged leaks’

Reeling from the leak of classified data, NSA officials have anticipated future leaks by sometimes announcing them to the media preemptively, a minimization tactic according to one of the journalists still holding the intel agency’s documents.

Glenn Greenwald, formerly of The Guardian and now of First Look Media, penned a column Monday criticizing both US National Security Agency brass and what he sees as complicit reporters for their role in repeating unverified claims about the intelligence agency.

The outspoken columnist ripped outgoing NSA Director General Keith Alexander, who will be replaced at the top of the agency soon, for trying to prey on the public’s emotions.

Jonathan Pollard:

Jonathan Pollard: Why Israel wants him free, why the U.S. doesn’t, and what might happen next

Why Israel wants him free
To his supporters in Israel and those elsewhere, there are a number of key factors in the case that support releasing Pollard. For one thing, while Pollard has admitted he handed over a huge amount of documents to Israel, he has argued that he did it out of an idealistic loyalty to Israel (an American ally, of course), not malice, and that the information was about Arab states, Pakistan, and the Soviet Union, not the United States.
Why the U.S. doesn't want him free
Many in the U.S. intelligence community feel strongly that Pollard should not be released: In 1998 George J. Tenet, then director of the CIA, apparently scuppered a deal with Israel on Pollard by threatening to resign if the spy went free.
There have been a number of arguments that Pollard's spying was actually far more damaging than others care to admit. For example, in 1999 Seymour Hersh wrote an article for the New Yorker that argued Pollard's information may have ended up with Soviet Union. Hersh spoke to experts who said that the information was used:
... in exchange for continued Soviet permission for Jews to emigrate to Israel. Other officials go further, and say that there was reason to believe that secret information was exchanged for Jews working in highly sensitive positions in the Soviet Union. A significant percentage of Pollard’s documents, including some that described the techniques the American Navy used to track Soviet submarines around the world, was of practical importance to the Soviet Union.
What's happening now (and what might happen next)
Over the past few years the Israeli campaign to release Pollard has grown momentum, with Netanyahu expressing official support, a number of petitions, and protests outside the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv. President Obama has so far refused to contemplate releasing Pollard and has refused to grant him leave for family emergencies.
The biggest factor now, however, is the Middle East peace process which Secretary of State John F. Kerry launched eight months ago. The hope appears to be that if the United States agreed to released Pollard, Israel might agree to release some of a large number of Palestinian prisoners or impose a moratorium on new building in disputed territories, key sticking points for the Palestinian negotiators.

Will Obamacare End Family Farming?

"Health care has always been more expensive in far-flung communities, where actuarial insurance data show fewer doctors, specialists and hospitals, as well as older residents in need of more health care services. But the rural-urban cost divide has been exacerbated by the Affordable Care Act.

“We’ve gone from letting the insurance companies use a pre-existing medical condition to jack up rates to having a pre-existing zip code being the reason health insurance is unaffordable,” Fales said. “It’s just wrong.”

Geography is one of only three determinants insurance companies are allowed to use to set premiums under the federal health care law, along with age and tobacco use. Insurance officials say they need such controls to remain viable."

If you value organic food, you'd better learn to grow it and have a second job to pay your Obamacare tax.

Justice Cap Makes Your Face Invisible to Cameras

They look like your average ball cap, except for the fact that they’ve got a strip of high-powered LEDs on the visor. And it’s this strip of LEDs that makes all the difference, as they virtually black out your face from digital cameras and facial recognition systems. They work best in low-level lighting environments, such as when you’re in a club or outdoors when it’s dark out. That said, they won’t do much for you in broad daylight, although they may still conceal part of your face.

Exclusive: NSA infiltrated RSA security more deeply than thought - study

Security industry pioneer RSA adopted not just one but two encryption tools developed by the U.S. National Security Agency, greatly increasing the spy agency's ability to eavesdrop on some Internet communications, according to a team of academic researchers.

Reuters reported in December that the NSA had paid RSA $10 million to make a now-discredited cryptography system the default in software used by a wide range of Internet and computer security programs. The system, called Dual Elliptic Curve, was a random number generator, but it had a deliberate flaw - or "back door" - that allowed the NSA to crack the encryption.

A group of professors from Johns Hopkins, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Illinois and elsewhere now say they have discovered that a second NSA tool exacerbated the RSA software's vulnerability.

SWAT Targets Family for Drinking Tea

In 21st-century America, the most innocent of activities could have a SWAT team busting down your door. Reason profiles the Harte family, who were the victims of a SWAT home invasion after police raided their garbage cans (h/t Ben Domench). An unreliable field test falsely identified Addie Harte’s trashed teabags as marijuana, and SWAT leapt into action. The Hartes didn’t just suffer the trauma of the raid—they had to spend $25,000 just to find out why they were targeted.

House GOP investigators say regulators twice declined to probe faulty GM vehicles

Congressional investigators said Sunday that federal regulators had declined on two separate occasions to open formal probes into complaints about an ignition switch defect in certain General Motors cars.

The finding was announced in a memo prepared by staffers on the House Energy and Commerce Committee as part of a continuing investigation into events surrounding GM's eventual recall of 2.6 million small cars due to the defect, which has been linked to 13 deaths in traffic accidents. The investigators also determined that GM rejected a proposed fix for the problem in 2005 due to both the length of time needed for repair and the costs involved.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This seems to be a pattern in the US Government. They are always ready to harass ordinary people for the slightest crime, even the imagined crime of taking pictures of the police in public. But the agencies watching major corporations look the other way. SEC ignored Bernie Madoff for 12 years. MMS ignored the fact that the manual blowout preventer on the Deepwater Horizon was four years overdue for maintenance. There is yet to be a single arrest related to the 2008 mortgage-backed securities fraud.

Protesters storm Albuquerque police HQ as Anonymous targets department over killing of homeless man by 'cold blooded' officers that was caught on video

What started as a peaceful protest against the Albuquerque Police Department quickly turned violent by nightfall with officers in riot gear breaking out the tear gas.

At least 500 people gathered on the steps of the Albuquerque Police department on Sunday to condemn the recent police killing of 38-year-old James Boyd. Earlier this week hacktivist group Anonymous posted a video online calling for locals to occupy police headquarters and take a stand against Boyd's 'cold blooded' murder.

'Let them know that your city is not a place for war games against the homeless and the less fortunate,' the group said in the video.

A British Jew warns US Jewish orgs to heed rapidly-shifting world opinion

We received the note below from a British Jew. I then had a conversation on the phone with him and he said he felt the urgent responsibility to communicate the world’s opinion of Israel to American Jews before public opinion in the U.S. shifts dramatically, led by the BDS movement. I’m honoring his wish to remain anonymous.

How do you describe the feeling that your life has been a lie? I think that the reason Jews are so reluctant to acknowledge what is clearly in front of them, is that shifting from ‘Israel is never wrong’ to ‘we have created a monster’ is such a terrifying realisation, self delusion is the easier path.

Mayor responds to Sunday protest

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – APD and city officials stressed the same message all day Sunday – that they hoped for a peaceful ending to the protest.
The mayor spoke about this late Sunday night.
With the protest and the marches going on for most of the day and into the evening, how the city responded was a big deal.

SickOfTheStupid • 3 hours ago

The decision to roll out a riot squad armed with baseball bats when there was no need followed by a grotesque and vulgar excessive display of force is going to come back and bite the mayor and his minions in the assp.
Yesterday APD and the Mayor made a choice they chose to take a peaceful protest and instigate a riot.

Well I am sure the mental midgets at city hall think its over and they made it through it , little do they know , Sunday was just a warm up for whats to come.
