‘First they came for my legally elected President….. then they came for my Freedom Of Speech…..’

Oct 03 16:31

Big speeches with grand accompanying events marking an ‘umpteenth’ rekindling of the strangest and longest peace process have been Middle East fixtures for decades, as have the inevitable follow-up periods of analyses and projections.

No matter where the leaders in question stood on the scale of left to right, or to which party they belonged, little new ever emerged; peace talks had fallen into a vicious cycle of deja vu.

Not this time, however.

Let’s Kill Everyone Israel Doesn’t Like

Wissam Yazbak, at rest in a Nazareth cemetery, cannot tell the story of what happened to him nearly three years ago, on the night of 8 October 2000. That evening a mob of several hundred Israeli Jews from the neighbouring town of Nazareth Ilit marched on the eastern quarter of Nazareth, many armed with guns and chanting “Death to the Arabs”. As the mob attacked the first Arab homes, Nazareth’s mosques called on local residents to defend their town.

Thimerosal, organic mercury, swine flu and you.

Thimerosal is nearly 50% mercury. Now, there is mercury and then there is mercury. Organic mercury – that contained in Thimerosal – is more dangerous than inorganic mercury, as it tends to hang around in the body longer. How dangerous is it?

According to one report, “In 1977, a Russian study found that adults exposed to ethylmercury, the form of mercury in thimerosal, suffered brain damage years later. Studies on thimerosal poisoning also describe tubular necrosis and nervous system injury, including obtundation, coma and death."

Israeli minister Ehud Barak faces war crimes arrest threat during UK visit

Israel received an uncomfortable reminder of international anger over the Gaza war today when lawyers representing 16 Palestinians asked a London court to issue an arrest warrant for its defence minister, Ehud Barak, who is visiting Britain.

After a day of delays and legal wrangling the bid failed on the grounds that Barak enjoyed diplomatic immunity from prosecution. But the episode triggered a brief storm that is likely to give Israeli officials second thoughts about the risk of prosecution in foreign courts.

Report Says Iran Has Data to Make a Nuclear Bomb

Senior staff members of the United Nations nuclear agency have concluded in a confidential analysis that Iran has acquired “sufficient information to be able to design and produce a workable” atom bomb.

The report by experts in the International Atomic Energy Agency stresses in its introduction that its conclusions are tentative and subject to further confirmation of the evidence, which it says came from intelligence agencies and its own investigations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Notice that this is not sourced at all, in terms of naming who actually wrote this report.

Secondly, every IAEA report on the Iranian power plant states that no nuclear material has gone missing, nor has the level of enrichment gone anywhere beyond that which is needed to fuel power a power plant. The level for weapons-grade enrichment is far higher than that.

It is obvious that some folks in certain capitals of the world are very upset that it appears that Iran and the West may be on a a course toward a restructuring of Iran's nuclear enrichment program where Iran gets its the enrichment it needs, and the West can breathe easy about Iran's nuclear ambitions.

My goodness, now; just who would be profoundly unhappy over this?!?

Chemo Does Not Cure: Often It Inflicts Damage and Spreads Cancer

The following report presented at the 27th Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium illustrates how chemo actually spreads cancer cells, as well as points out how little we are being told about the dangers of chemo:

"German investigators from Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena, have shown that taxol (the "gold standard of chemo") causes a massive release of cells into circulation.

"Such a release of cancer cells would result in extensive metastasis months or even years later, long after the chemo would be suspected as the cause of the spread of the cancer. This little known horror of conventional cancer treatment needs to be spread far and wide, but it is not even listed in the side effects of taxol."

Netanyahu Warns UN Against Accepting Goldstone Report

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu issued a last-gasp warning on Thursday to the 47 countries of the United Nations Human Rights Council, currently convening in Geneva. The Council is expected to vote on Friday whether to endorse and pass the Goldstone report on to the U.N. General Assembly.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu: this condemnation for what Israel did during "Operation Cast Lead" should be reverberating from the rooftops of governmental buildings around the world, as a clear statement that no country is above responsibility for war crimes they have committed.

And that statement about "Israel launched the offensive after Gaza terrorists rained down thousands of rockets on Israeli towns and cities, killing over 20 people and making havoc of routine life in Israel’s western Negev": while deploring any loss of life, as reported in:

"wo human rights organizations have issued formal reports this week, presenting extensive evidence of misconduct on the part of both the Israeli military and the Israeli government at large, in the lead-up to, execution, and aftermath of Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip from December 2008 to January 2009. The 22-day long military offensive, purportedly sparked by a breach of an Israel-Hamas ceasefire in November 2008, commenced with aerial attacks on 26 December and expanded into ground operations eight days later, claiming the lives of an estimated 1,400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis."

Nato commander warns of conflict with Russia in Arctic Circle

Competition for resources in the Arctic Circle could provoke conflict between Russia and Nato, a newly appointed commander at the alliance warned yesterday.

Russia has recently been aggressive in its pursuit of claims to parts of the region and in February sent a submarine to the floor of the sea symbolically to plant a Russian flag. Admiral James Stavridis said that military activity and trade routes would also be potential sources of competition around the polar cap.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Cooperation and trade trumps military confrontation every time.

NATO's inviting Russia to become a full NATO member would be a very logical thing to do, and would mean that the world would, perhaps, be just a little more secure if that were to happen.

U.S. Pharmaceutical Factories Dumping Huge Quantities of Drugs Into Public Sewers, Rivers and Waterways

In one study, conducted by scientists at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), researchers tested the water entering two water treatment plants down the sewer line of several pharmaceutical factories, as well as at other plants not receiving sewage from drug plants. Researchers discovered drugs at "much higher detection frequencies and concentrations" at the plants receiving effluent from pharmaceutical factories. Drugs detected included opiates, a barbiturate and a tranquilizer.

For instance, this very day, the representatives of Russia, Germany, China, France, Britain, and for the first time, the United States, will be sitting down with Iran's representative in Geneva for what's billed as an historic exchange. On the table -- and in global headlines -- will be the Iranian nuclear program, a previously secret Iranian nuclear site, Iranian medium-range missile tests, sanctions of various sorts, the possibility of future attacks on that country's nuclear establishment, and so on. What won't be in the headlines, or the accompanying reams of analysis, is the approximately 15% of the world's natural gas deposits Iran controls.

US: Over a quarter million jobs lost in September

The US unemployment rate reached 9.8 percent and the economy lost 263,000 jobs in September, according to figures released Friday by the Labor Department. The latest figures undermine claims of an imminent economic recovery and point to the likelihood that the US economy will remain mired in recession for the foreseeable future.

Big Brother continues to spy on American public

There are efforts to make the government accountable to the people once again. A bill is targeting a 2008 law — Obama voted for it — which gave immunity from prosecution to telecommunications companies that participated in President Bush’s warrantless surveillance program.

As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama said he would take a close look at the law.

But when we see statements from the administration like Weich’s, we recognize the kind of thinking that got this abuse-codifying law repeatedly reauthorized in the past.

It is with bitter disappointment that we realize President Obama is happy with that status quo. Those of us who voted for him, after all, bought into his message of “change.

Webmaster's Commentary:

From a standpoint of protecting Americans' civil liberties, Obama's administration morphed (with terrifying speed) from "hope and change" to "despair and outrage".

Oct 03 08:54

The Recovery That Isn’t

For those market boosters who are prattling on about the possibility of a “jobless recovery,” I offer an invitation to join me for a breakfast of “fat-free bacon,” “eggless omelets,” and “no-carb bread.” As unappetizing as such a meal may sound, it would nevertheless offer more substance than the oxymoronic concept of an economic resurgence without job creation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The way that the US has gotten itself out of a depression, historically, has been through a war.

That is why you are hearing sabre rattling in the halls of power in this country aimed at Iran, Somalia, Yemen, etc., because many of those people in power see no other way out.

Cutting taxes across the board would do wonders for this economy, but - of course - that would be logical.

Requiring the US government to not spend more of our tax dollars than it actually takes in - and not drowning in debt which We the People may never be able to repay - would also do wonders for this economy. But again, that would be logical.

And this is why you see members of congress itching for some war, any war, to distract the American people from the wreckage they have made of this economy and get the economy humming again.

But they have forgotten one crucial fact here: the US has lost its ability to manufacture, as most companies have offshored this function to cheaper places on the planet to get products made.

And without that manufacturing base, we are going to have an horrendously hard time finishing what we started, if there is another large-scale war.

DHS Doles Out Fed Cash to Deploy Military LRADs in U.S. Cities

The LRAD devices used against protesters and the residents of Pittsburgh last month were a beta test for things to come. As reported by the Washington Times on October 1, the Department of Homeland Security is doling out federal money to get police departments around the country stocked up on the LRAD weapons.

According to San Diego-based American Technology Corp., the company that makes the devices, LRADs are not weapons. American Technology insists LRADs are to be used in order to “influence the behavior and gain compliance” from people.

In other words, as was the case in Pittsburgh, LRADs will be used prevent people from engaging in the First Amendment and the right to peacefully assembly and protest government policies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You have to wonder what US police departments are so terrified of that they believe they will soon be deploying these weapons against their own people across this country.

If The Russians Did This To Us, We’d Kill ‘Em

In the last thirty years we've entirely restructured the economy so that the super-wealthy have become obscenely-super-wealthy, and the middle class are lucky to have stood still, and haven't really even managed that. If one examines the destination of the considerable GDP growth that America has sustained over the last three decades, it's gone entirely to the richest of Americans. The middle class has actually lost ground. That's an astonishing fact, but think about it: Despite robust economic growth, workers today actually make less than they did back in the 1970s.

Gates Expected to Back Afghan Escalation

Gen. McChrystal is reportedly seeking up to 45,000 additional troops for a long term continuation of the already eight year long war in Afghanistan. McChrystal has cautioned that the war will likely be lost if he isn’t given the troops.

President Obama has been delaying his decision on the request, and some of his top advisers, including long time war enthusiast Joe Biden, have suggested that throwing tens of thousands of additional ground troops at the war isn’t necessarily the wisest strategy, and are hoping instead to scale back their goals.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Just precisely how this administration is defining "victory" in Afghanistan?

Those knuckleheads in the Bush administration who thought that a military option was "cheaper" than negotiating with the Taliban for the oil pipelines with which to control Eurasian oil forgot that it was the US which had trained and armed the Taliban against the old Soviet Union, whose army ultimately had to retreat.

Now, in a grimly ironic turn of events, those lessons of the past we taught the Taliban are being refined and used with horrendously lethal effect against our young men and women in uniform here.

As reported in:

"Embedded in General Stanley McChrystal's classified assessment of the war in Afghanistan is his conclusion that a successful counterinsurgency strategy will require 500,000 troops over five years."

One has to wonder just where those 500,000 troops will come from without a draft, and where the money will come from to hire contract mercenaries to fill the gap, without a draft.

But one thing is painfully obvious here: the only people who are "winning" right now in Afghanistan are the private defense contractors and the drug lords.

FBI Director: Al Qaeda-Linked Somali Group Could Attack U.S

During a hearing on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, FBI Director Robert Mueller was asked if members of al-Shabaab, which translates as "mujahideen youth," would send American recruits back to the U.S. to launch attacks.

"I would think that we have seen some information that the leaders would like to undertake operations outside of Somalia," Mueller told the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

Mueller said he is "absolutely" concerned that Americans who traveled to Somalia to train as terrorists would have U.S. legal status and would therefore be able to return to the United States and carry out attacks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, the bovine excrement meter just sucked a valve on this one.

Number one, who in their right minds (other than very brave aid organization workers, hired mercenaries, or covert American troops) are travelling to Somalia right now?

That number has to be staggeringly small, and quite easy to track.

And second, on that statement by Mueller, "I would think that we have seen some information that the leaders would like to undertake operations outside of Somalia,"is something that loses all credibility upon examination.

The phrase"...would like" doesn't address how the devil funding for such an operation or the logistics necessary to make something like this happen.

This is just another "booga booga" to attempt to keep the American people distracted from what is happening in their own country, courtesy of a government which can't fix the economic problems it has created, and is drowning in a sea of debt We the People can never repay.

Obama agrees to cover up Israel's nukes: report

In a meeting with, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu obtained President Obama's guarantee that the White House would continue a 4-decade-old secret deal to allow Israel keep a nuclear arsenal without opening it to international inspections, The Washington Times reported on Friday quoting officials familiar with the matter.

"The president gave Israel an NPT treaty get out of jail free card," said a Senate staffer speaking on the condition of anonymity. "What this means is that the president gave commitments that politically he had no choice but to give regarding Israel's nuclear program."

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a critically important move, because it absolutely pulls the rug out from any possible true non-proliferation in the Middle East.

You cannot talk about non-proliferation with a straight face while Israel maintains a sizable nuclear arsenal.

And secondly, this "dispensation" by Obama, and other presidents before him, is illegal, according to the statutes of the Symington Amendment, which states in no uncertain terms that the US shall provide no aid to countries which develop nuclear weapons, and refuse to sign the NPT.

Israel has nuclear weapons; there is nothing "alleged" about it, and there is no ambiguity. As reported in

"Israel's prime minister, Ehud Olmert, was yesterday trying to fend off accusations of ineptitude and calls for his resignation after he accidentally acknowledged for the first time that Israel had nuclear weapons.

"After decades in which Israel has stuck to a doctrine of nuclear ambiguity, Mr Olmert let slip during an interview in Germany that Israel did indeed have weapons of mass destruction."

'He told Germany's Sat.1 channel on Monday evening: "Iran, openly, explicitly and publicly, threatens to wipe Israel off the map. Can you say that this is the same level, when they are aspiring to have nuclear weapons, as America, France, Israel and Russia?" '

So there you have it, right out of the mouth of Israel's former Prime Minister.

Even former President Jimmy Carter has confirmed this, as reported in:

"Israel has 150 nuclear weapons in its arsenal, former President Jimmy Carter said yesterday, while arguing that the US should talk directly to Iran to persuade it to drop its nuclear ambitions."

So the bottom line here is that Obama continues to lie about the absolute reality of Israel's nuclear arsenal so that US checks and military aid keep flowing to Israel

...while US infrastructure crumbles, and homeless Vets sleep on our streets.

Consumer bankruptcies topped one million for the first nine months of this year, the highest point since the system was overhauled in 2005.

The number of personal bankruptcy filings for the nine months rose to 1,046,449 as of Sept. 30, the American Bankruptcy Institute, an organization made up of attorneys, accountants and other bankruptcy professionals, said Friday, using data from the National Bankruptcy Research Center. The Polanski Hypocrisy

Reading the petition, you could be forgiven for thinking that the dispute was over some obscure diplomatic codicil. Its principal focus is on the mechanics of the arrest, namely Switzerland's detention of Mr. Polanski on a U.S. request as he was traveling to the Zurich Film Festival. It cites Switzerland's status as a "neutral country" and the "extraterritorial nature" of film festivals. The substance of his guilty plea and the circumstances of the crime receive only glancing mention, in a single line: "His arrest follows an American arrest warrant dating from 1978 against the filmmaker, in a case of morals."

One would never know that those easily brushed off "morals"—rape and pedophilia—have actually been a central concern of some of the petition's signatories.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In their rush to defend Polanski, these film luminaries may bring the wrath of the public down on all of the entertainment industry.

Of course the upside is that most of these people defending Polanski's drugging and rape of a 13 year old girl are the same ones who bad-mouthed Charlie Sheen, Rosie O'Donnell, Willie Nelson, Sean Penn, and Marion Cotillard for daring to question the official version of history. As the "Romans" fall, perhaps these icons of honesty in government will attain the honors they so richly deserve.

Shalom Kital, an aide to defence minister Ehud Barak, said today that Israel will not release a share of the radio spectrum that has long been sought by the Palestinian Authority to enable the launch of a second mobile telecommunications company unless the PA drops its efforts to put Israeli soldiers and officers in the dock over the Israeli operation.

Are New Vaccines Laced With Birth-Control Drugs?

The Known Facts

Here are the known facts concerning the tetanus vaccination campaigns in Mexico and the Philippines:

* Only women are vaccinated, and only the women between the ages of 15 and 45. (In Nicaragua the age range was 12-49.) But aren't men at least as likely as young women to come into contact with tetanus? And what of the children? Why are they excluded?

* Human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) hormone has been found in the vaccines. It does not belong there -- in the parlance of the O.J. Simpson murder trial, the vaccine has been "contaminated."

The Strange Death of Terry Yeakey (Oklahoma city bombing case)

It is important to note how, exactly, Yeakey is supposed to have killed himself. He was said to have slit his wrists and neck, causing him to nearly bleed to death in his car, and then miraculously climbed over a barbed wire fence. He then was purported to have walked over a miles distance, through a nearby field, eventually shooting himself in the side of the head at an unusual angle. Startlingly, no weapon was found at the scene of the body, no investigation was conducted, no fingerprints taken, and no interviews with family members or friends were had to try and determine why Yeakey would have been suicidal, or if he had, in fact, been suicidal at all. Instead, the conclusion that Yeakey’s death was a suicide was reached immediately, without an autopsy. Yeakey had witnessed things during his response to the bombing which did not agree with the ‘official version’ of events touted by the national media and law enforcement at that time. Yeakey was in the process of collecting evidence which supported and documented the inconsistencies he witnessed the morning of the bombing at the scene itself.

Philippines declares state of calamity, awaits new typhoon

Authorities in the Philippines have put the nation under a "state of calamity" as millions of people prepare for the arrival of a super typhoon.

With gusts of 230 kilometres an hour, Typhoon Parma is steadily approaching the main Philippines island of Luzon and is expected to make landfall some time this morning.

Philippines President Gloria Arroyo made the declaration as she ordered tens of thousands of people to be evacuated from areas in the storm's predicted path.

The Philippines was already in mourning after 300 people were killed in a typhoon last week.

'Planned recession' could avoid catastrophic climate change

Britain will have to stop building airports, switch to electric cars and shut down coal-fired power stations as part of a 'planned recession' to avoid dangerous climate change.

At the moment the UK is committed to cutting greenhouse gases by a third by 2020.

However a new report from the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research said these targets are inadequate to keep global warming below two degrees C above pre-industrial levels.

The report says the only way to avoid going beyond the dangerous tipping point is to double the target to 70 per cent by 2020.

This would mean reducing the size of the economy through a "planned recession".

Would the last person out of the country please turn off the lights.

Israeli PM Netanyahu’s speech at the UN is a major insight into the Israeli’s mentality, psyche and logic....
Israelis love their Shoa, for the Shoa is no doubt their best selling Hasbara (propaganda) product. It somehow allows them to kill en masse and to do it indistinguishably while insisting that it is they who happen to be the victims...
Roosevelt and Churchill seem to be his (Netanyahu´s) moral entitlement. In fact these statements are enough to make it clear to every reasonable human being that Israel is a genocidal entity that is capable of bringing our civilisation to a devastating end.

Abbas helps Israel bury its crimes in Gaza

Just when it seemed that the Ramallah Palestinian Authority (PA) and its leader Mahmoud Abbas could not sink any lower in their complicity with Israel's occupation of the West Bank and the murderous blockade of Gaza, Ramallah has dealt a further stunning blow to the Palestinian people.

The Abbas delegation to the United Nations in Geneva (officially representing the moribund Palestine Liberation Organization) abandoned a resolution requesting the Human Rights Council to forward Judge Richard Goldstone's report on war crimes in Gaza to the UN Security Council for further action. Although the PA acted under US pressure, there are strong indications that the commercial interests of Palestinian and Gulf businessmen closely linked to Abbas also played a part.

Twenty years later, the country faced massive depression. The money supply shrank, as banks closed their doors and gold fled to Europe. Dollars at that time had to be 40 percent backed by gold, so for every dollar's worth of gold that left the country, 2.5 dollars in credit money also disappeared. To prevent this alarming deflationary spiral from collapsing the money supply completely, in 1933 President Franklin Roosevelt took the dollar off the gold standard. Today the Federal Reserve still operates on the "fractional reserve" system, but its "reserves" consist of nothing but government bonds (I.O.U.s or debts). The government issues bonds, the Federal Reserve issues Federal Reserve Notes, and they basically swap stacks, leaving the government in debt to a private banking corporation for money the government could have issued itself, debt-free.

Odierno: May not be possible to declare victory in Iraq

It isn't clear whether the United States will ever be able to declare victory in Iraq, the top U.S. commander there said Thursday.

We were told we invaded Iraq to punish Saddam for 9-11. But since he had nothing to do with it, that is no longer possible.

We were told we invaded Iraq to punish Saddam for having banned weapons of mass destruction. But since he had none, that is no longer possible.

We were told we invaded Iraq to punish Saddam for aiding Al Qaeda. But since the link between Saddam and Al Qaeda rested solely on a confession extracted under torture, there is in fact no way to accomplish that either.

In short, because every publicly given reason for the war in Iraq was a lie, victory in the political and historical sense is impossible.

We cannot win, we can only endure, at continuing loss of American lives.

Jewish founders of Secular Turkey

One of the most significant developments in recent Middle East affairs is the close relationship which now exists between
Turkey and Israel in military, political, economic and intelligence matters. This change in the power structure is usually
attributable to the old Arab maxim “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Since both Turkey and Israel count Syria and
Iraq as their strongest threats, the close ties between Turkey and Israel are quite logical.

However, there is good evidence of a less widely known but absolutely fascinating story behind this relationship. Turkey,
which has a population almost exclusively Muslim, has a government which by law is committed to being totally secular.

The Greco-Roman Polanski Method.

I’ve seen the world that Polanski moves in over here. I’ve been to St. Tropez and other places. I’ve seen the enormous yachts and the glitterati glittering about. I’ve never seen people take themselves so seriously. They love their importance among their fellows and, like in Hollywood, they scheme together. They look for the angles. They set out after each others husbands and wives. Scammers move among them like barracuda around a reef. When you don’t want anything from anybody you see things that others can’t see because their vision is compromised by their desires.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The part that angers me about the Polanski story is the obvious double-standard being applied here. He raped a 13-year old girl.

I find it amazing that Hollywood continues to presume to lecture the rest of us who we are supposed to hate and who we are supposed to let slide. Yes, I recall how Polanski lost his pregnant wife. That does not justify his treatment of Samantha. And the fact that he can buy Samantha off means that other girls will be "rape raped" by other villains in the firm belief that all women have a price.

Nobody should make excuses for that, and frankly I have lost all respect and admiration for Whoopi following her defense of the indefensible. She's just another Hollywood sycophant sucking up to the ins while sneering at the outs. I used to really like her work, especially the early stuff that showed life's real pain. But Hollywood Squares must have deranged her.

Other winners honoured yesterday at Harvard University's Sanders Theater included scientists who found that empty beer bottles are much better weapons in a bar brawl than full bottles; researchers who used bacteria in panda poo to reduce kitchen waste; and in homage to the worldwide financial meltdown, the executives of four Icelandic banks who contributed to the island nation's economic collapse.

Recording error adds to state’s budget shortfall

HONOLULU (AP) - The state is in worse financial shape than previously thought.

Gov. Linda Lingle said Wednesday that a recently discovered recording error means the state has an additional budget shortfall on top of a previously identified $884 million shortfall over two years.

''With the recent discovery of the recording error, we have an additional $36.8 million shortfall, and the need for immediate solutions to close the budget gap becomes more urgent than ever,'' Lingle said.

True general fund revenues for the fiscal year that ended June 30 were discovered to be $44 million below the amount reported by the state's Financial and Accounting Management Information System, and a similar overstatement of $800,000 also occurred in the previous fiscal year, she said.
