'Broken promises' send Afghan fighters back into arms of Taleban

ALMOST a quarter of the low-ranking Taleban commanders lured out of the insurgency in southern Afghanistan have rejoined the fight because of broken government promises and paltry, sometimes non-existent, rewards, a scathing new report has claimed.

Apparently the "progress" made in Afghanistan consisted of buying off the enemy, then the checks bounced and things are worse!
