The Value of Noam Chomsky

At 86, Noam Chomsky is getting old. He remains indefatigable, keeping up a schedule that would exhaust a man half his age, but, unless he is indeed a demi-god, we can assume that the end is nigh. The tragic day cannot be more than a few years away, if that.

Secret Pentagon Report Reveals US “Created” ISIS As A “Tool” To Overthrow Syria’s President Assad

From the first sudden, and quite dramatic, appearance of the fanatical Islamic group known as ISIS which was largely unheard of until a year ago, on the world’s stage and which promptly replaced the worn out and tired al Qaeda as the world’s terrorist bogeyman, we suggested that the “straight to beheading YouTube clip” purpose behind the Saudi Arabia-funded Islamic State was a simple one: use the Jihadists as the vehicle of choice to achieve a political goal: depose of Syria’s president Assad, who for years has stood in the way of a critical Qatari natural gas pipeline, one which could dethrone Russia as Europe’s dominant – and belligerent – source of energy, reaching an interim climax with the unsuccessful Mediterranean Sea military build up of 2013, which nearly resulted in quasi-world war.

Jeb Bush, James Baker, and the Pro-Israel Mega-Donors

What is the issue, that gets little attention in the mainstream, is that the presidential candidates find it necessary to pay obeisance to ultra-powerful individuals who represent the interests of Israel, not the United States.

What exists now is a “passionate attachment” to a foreign country on steroids that undercuts American security.

For while the mainstream media is analyzing in microscopic detail Jeb’s stumbling over his Iraq war response, it naturally ignores that third rail in contemporary American politics, the power of the Israel lobby.

‘Stalking’ of pro-vaccine lobbyists prompts warning from doctors’ group

The California Medical Association has sent a letter warning a California Chiropractic Association official who they say encouraged opponents of a mandatory vaccination bill to stalk lobbyists advocating for the legislation.

The emotional debate over Senate Bill 277, which would make vaccinations compulsory for California schoolchildren and passed the Senate last week, has taken a personal turn in recent weeks. Lobbyists championing the bill on behalf of the California Medical Association and the California Academy of Family Physicians have attracted the attention of bill opponents, who have begun sharing information on the lobbyists and disseminating photos of their locations on social media.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If Brian Stenzler actually created and disseminated this video, advocating for stalking if lobbyists, it was the absolutely wrong thing to do, and he should apologize.

And where is this video, please?!?

What I think may be going on here is that the public is very angry with a legislation bought and paid for by the medical-industrial complex. This story is trying to elicit sympathy for the fact that pro-vaccine doctors and lobbyists are feeling "threatened" by email threats and stalking.

And IF anti-vaxxers are actually doing this, CEASE AND DESIST IMMEDIATELY!! You are giving the California legislature, the medical industrial complex, and the lobbyists precisely what they want.

Fight this legally, in the courts, all the way up to the Supreme Court, if necessary. Then kick all of those in the California Legislature out for supporting this legislation, during the next election. But stalking and threatening is only make you get kookified by the media.

I am not anti-vaccine, but people have to do the due diligence, particularly when vaccinating children. I have a friend who owns a hair styling salon, and has two kids in public school. Their vaccinations are all up to date, but she refused to have them given the multiple vaccinations. Yes, it means more jabs for the kid, but it may be ultimately more safe for the child as well; just something to think about.

Hope – versus Neoliberalism – an Ode to Solidarity

The new apparent Hope – is it what my friend Finian Cunningham says – the first ‘eye blinking’ by Washington facing Russia?

We are so thirsty for hope, hope for another, more just, more equitable world, we see hope in the first ‘blinking of an eye’. Hope is good. Hope is the basis for action. And action must be the consequence of hope – hope that not all is lost. Action to break that impasse of neoliberal all-engulfing greed must be simple. We have become strangers to ourselves. We must return to our roots, recognizing where and why we failed to diagnose the beast. Our awakened, re-kindled sense of consciousness may lead us to what we have lost – our inherent sense of solidarity.

Let’s hope together for that to happen – to happen soon, for the suffering is too great to endure much longer. We, the 99.99 % have it in our power to stop this misery and save our planet.

Greek health workers, journalists, pensioners strike against austerity

Thousands of doctors, nurses and ambulance staff from Greece’s state-run hospitals and health centres began a 24-hour strike Wednesday.

The Federation of Public Hospital Employees (POEDIN) called the strike to protest the gutting of health care since the onset of mass austerity in 2010. Among the demands of the workers are the employment of more staff and the payment of unpaid wages. POEDIN said Greece’s national health service was “out of control due to underfunding and understaffing.”

Fight for Your Freedom Before Its Gone

Negative interest rates will only work if the people cannot remove their funds in the form of cash. Once cash is removed from the system then “money” is captured within the banking system and they can charge whatever negative interest rates, service charges and fees that they desire. The only thing that will hold them back at all is competition within the banking community and that is disappearing fast with all the mergers and mega-banks.

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS: TYRANNY OF THE MIND

In a letter to Dr. Benjamin Rush, dated September 23, 1800, Thomas Jefferson wrote, “I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” By any definition that Jefferson could have envisioned, today’s political correctness can only be regarded as “tyranny over the mind of man.” Forget freedom of association, freedom of expression, freedom of speech, or freedom of privacy, political correctness demands that we don’t even have freedom of thought or opinion.

If one does not have the freedom to live in good conscience with his own sense of morality, he or she is indeed the most enslaved of creatures. Listen to Jefferson again, “To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”

What In The World Is Happening In Macedonia?

By Brandon Turbeville

In May 2015, protests began erupting in Skopje, Macedonia against the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and his government. The protests, led by Zoran Zaev, were allegedly in response to the massive spying and surveillance of Macedonian officials and other individuals as well as an alleged cover-up of a killing of a young man by police in 2011. The protests were largely focused on the issue of government corruption, with tens of thousands of people in the streets of Skopje, demanding the Prime Minister’s resignation as well as that of other members of his government.

A major protest occurred on May 5 and several other anti-government protests have taken place since then. While some protests have remained peaceful, there has been widespread violence from other demonstrations. On the May 5 protest alone, violent clashes took place between protesters and police with injuries taking place on both sides...

IT’S OFFICIAL, POLICE LIVES MATTER, MORE: OBAMA SIGNS “BLUE ALERT” BILL FOR COPS WHO MAY BE IN TROUBLE

This week, President Obama signed a bill that will create a national alert system for the capture of anyone who hurts or makes a threat against a police officer. The new bill further solidifies the fact that the lives of police officers are seen as more valuable than that of the average citizen.

The new bill would create a system that would be comparable to the Amber Alerts used to find abducted children, but would likely be taken far more seriously.

George Soros, NATO, US Color Revolution Machine Behind Unrest in Macedonia

By Brandon Turbeville

With tensions heating up between the United States and Russia over a number of issues - Ukraine, BRICS, sanctions, and NATO encirclement to name a few - the West continues its move in toward Russia's borders. The latest target in the Anglo-American destabilization campaign has now come forward - Macedonia.

In the attempt to destroy the elected government of Macedonia, George Soros, NATO, and the Western Color Revolution apparatus have all come together to ensure that the will of the Macedonian people is denied as is the will of populations in all Western-style democracies.

As informed observers might well suspect, any color revolution taking place in Eastern Europe will involve the heavy hand of George Soros...

Look Homeward, Hegemon Part 1: Cold War 2.0 Abroad, Cold Civil War Between the U.S. Government and Its People At Home

To summarize the domestic and international situation — not only is the U.S. government waging a new Cold War abroad with Russia and China, but there’s abundant evidence it’s also entering a ‘cold war’ with large parts of the American population. As during the first Cold War, with the rise of what President Dwight Eisenhower called ‘the military industrial complex’,27 the external ‘Cold War 2.0’ is supplementing the post-9/11 ‘War on Terror’ as a driver of enhanced government power at home. Consider:

1) The U.S. is in a second Cold War with Russia and China it initiated in Syria, Ukraine and now with the ‘pivot to Asia’, in order to defend the dollar’s world reserve currency status.......

Laugh of the day: Feds Admit "Government must obey the law. No one is above the law."

In celebration of the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend, the U.S. Federal government has reminded the public of their rights under the U.S. Constitution. Top among the gems is this one: What is the “rule of law”?
• Everyone must follow the law.
• Leaders must obey the law.
• Government must obey the law.
• No one is above the law.
The audio of these Q & A's are provided by the U.S. federal government, available in CD and MP3 form. The computer lady voice makes it sound even more quaint, don't you think? She could almost be a libertarian.

Time for FIFA to show Israel the red card

The truth must be told from the outset: I hope Israel is suspended from FIFA.

A soccer ban doesn’t kill anyone. A boycott spills no blood. It is a legitimate weapon to establish justice and apply international law. Israel supported and supports boycotts, and encourages them: against Hamas, against Gaza, and, of course, against Iran. It even joined the boycott against South Africa, albeit in spite of itself. Now its turn has come.

What’s it coming to?
When kings and presidents say they’re right

And the whole damn world just stays quiet
And the whole damn world bows to might is right

What’s it coming to?
What’s it coming to?
When they’re killing children every day
And the whole world looks away

And the whole world looks away
And the whole world looks away

Maybe It's Time To Just Cuss Them Out (Really Fed-Up Driver unleases tirade at Rogue DHS agemt)

What do you do with a lawless, criminal rogue government with no chance of reform? Maybe it boils down to just cussing them out.
U.S. v Martinez-Fuerte states: "We have held that checkpoint searches are constitutional only if justified by consent or probable cause to search... And our holding today is limited to the type of stops described in this opinion. Any further detention... must be based on consent or probable cause."
Despite this, rogue Department of Homeland Security agents continue to ignore the law, the Constitution, and U.S. Supreme Court rulings. In a recorded exchange at the notorious Laredo, TX warrantless checkpoint yesterday, this prompted a fed-up driver to unleash a profanity-laced tirade against the obnoxious agent, demanding the officer's supervisor. Losing the American Republic

Decades of letting neocons dictate a hawkish foreign policy have put the American Republic in profound danger, just as presidents from George Washington to Dwight Eisenhower predicted, warnings that Americans must finally take to heart...

We may lament our poverty of leadership, but there are ways to make it function. “Princes,” since long before Machiavelli have always used advisers; some even listened to them. Feeling Trapped in a Dead-End System? Cartoonist Stephanie McMillan's Affirmations Encourage Resistance

Activists and organizers for social change undoubtedly experience periods of burnout. Working long hours – typically without pay and little appreciation – on campaigns, issues and causes where victories are few and far between can be demoralizing. Some activists get so frustrated with the perceived lack of results from their hard work, the divisions within the Left and the rampant apathy among the general public that they give up entirely and retreat from activism.

US Blinks in Face-Off with Russia

After staring Russia in the face for the best part of a year, the poker-faced Americans finally realized they are holding a bunch of worthless cards. And the Americans blinked.

Last week started with US Secretary of State John Kerry coming to Russia to lay a wreath for the millions of Soviet soldiers who gave their lives in the historic defeat of Nazi Germany. Then the week ended with Kerry’s deputy at the State Department, Victoria Nuland, flying to Moscow to meet Russian officials to discuss implementation of the Minsk ceasefire in Ukraine.

That’s what you might call «America blinking first» in its high-stakes and reckless face-off with Russia over the Ukraine crisis.

Is Washington Coming To Its Senses? — Paul Craig Roberts

There is much speculation about US Secretary of State John Kerry’s rush visit to Russia in the wake of Russia’s successful Victory Day celebration on May 9. On May 11, Kerry, who was snubbing Russia on the 9th, was on his way to Russia, and Putin consented to see him on May 12.

As time passes we will find out why Kerry was snubbing Putin on May 9 and 3 days later was criticizing Washington’s puppet regime in Ukraine. For what is known at this time, a possible explanation is that Washington is coming to its senses.

Conservatives have 'zero tolerance' for protest of Israeli apartheid? Protest must be powerful!

The CBC's recent revelation that Conservative Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney has called for "zero tolerance" of criticism of Israel and that Canadian hate laws could be applied to those campaigning for BDS -- Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions -- against Israel is repugnant enough. But the truly disturbing irony in this outrageous declaration is that the more extreme the Israeli government becomes, the more illegal settlements it builds, the more explicit its open contempt for world opinion and the more outrageous Netanyahu's statements, the stronger is the support from the Harper government. It raises the question: is there any action, including the actual expulsion of Palestinians from Israel and the Occupied Territories that Harper would not support?

The Coming Dissolution of Great Britain

I have spent most of my working life writing about countries where communal or nationalist differences determine and, on occasion, convulse the political landscape. My first experience of this was at Queen’s University Belfast, where I was writing a PhD on the Irish Home Rulers in Ulster pre-Irish independence, during the worst years of the troubles in Northern Ireland between 1972 and 1975. I moved on to Lebanon at the beginning of the civil war, and later reported on the Soviet Union before and after it broke up. I first went to Iraq in 1977 and over the following decades have watched it torn apart by communal conflicts stoked by foreign intervention.

The Hegelian Dialectic is a philosophical approach that in principle explains how human beings progress toward a better and more egalitarian condition but in practice provides the power elite with a strategy for controlling society.

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (August 27, 1770 -- November 14, 1831) was among the most consequential philosophers of the Age of Enlightenment. His was heavily influenced by Plato, whose social ideal was rule by an elite composed of philosopher-kings. Though Hegel may not have intended to provide a Platonic methodology for the modern-day control of the many by the few, that is how his insights have been used.

The Military & the Militia

A standing army has always been used by despots to enforce their rule and to keep their people under subjection. Its existence was therefore considered a great threat to peace and stability in a republic and a danger to the rights of the nation. Since every aspect of government was designed to prevent the rise of tyranny, strict limits and control over the military were considered absolutely necessary. It was essential that the military be subordinate to civilian control.

In the Belly of the Chemical Beast: Hawaiian Activists Confront Syngenta on Its Home Turf

I first met Malia Chun in late 2013, in front of her home on the Hawaiian island of Kaua'i, where she pointed between the houses across the street to a nearby field where the agrichemical giant Syngenta tests and produces genetically engineered corn treated with a considerable amount of pesticide.

I met up with Chun again a year and a half later, this time in Syngenta's front yard in Basel, Switzerland. After a short ride through winding, medieval streets on the city's famously punctual public transit, we took pictures outside the tall office building that serves as Syngenta's global headquarters, where a security guard told us we had no chance of getting inside without an employee escort. Unimpressed, Chun asked two university students sitting nearby if they were familiar with Syngenta. The students said they knew that Syngenta sold pesticides, and that a few weeks ago, demonstrators had hung a sign from the building in protest of chemicals thought to harm bees.

Media obfuscation and the Khadr controversy

The story of Omar Khadr unveils the sickening depravity of the Western/Zionist/Neocon warmongers and their bought-and-paid-for presstitutes.

Upon his release on bail on May 7, Canadian neocons began screeching from the hilltops about the ‘travesty’ of temporarily freeing a ‘convicted terrorist.’ Meanwhile, the neo-liberal crypto-militarists who occupy Canada’s mainstream media engaged in stereotypical faux debates consisting of highly constrained babble about the ‘rights and wrongs’ of the treatment of Khadr by the Canadian and American governments.

The Prison Gates Swing Open for US Peace Activists

Kathy Kelly is just out of prison, where she’d been sent for nonviolently opposing drone murders.

An appeals court has just overturned convictions for Megan Rice, Michael Walli and Gregory Boertje-Obed, imprisoned for entering and protesting a nuclear weapons site at Oak Ridge, Tenn., three years ago. Resentencing on lesser charges, and quite possibly immediate release, is expected.

Amazingly, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 that the government failed to prove that the activists intended to “injure the national defense.” (Maybe Venezuela, accused by President Obama of being a threat to the same, should appeal to the Sixth Circuit!)

US fall from virtuous republic to tragic-comic empire described perfectly by Roman historians

*hyperlinks live at source*

The ancient Greek historian, Polybius, celebrated the Roman republic of ~ 150 BC under its constitution with balance of powers among the Senate, two elected consuls, and the general citizens:

“Such being the power that each part has of hampering the others or co-operating with them, their union is adequate to all emergencies, so that it is impossible to find a better political system than this.” - The Histories, Book VI, Section V: On the Roman Constitution at its Prime

Americans and people around the world were equally proud of the United States Constitution as “impossible to find a better political system than this.”

About 100 years after Polybius’ account, Rome’s republic had descended into oligarchic competition for power. Contemporary to Julius Caesar, the Roman historian and government insider Sallust blasted the decline of virtue in government:

Illegitimate Government: News Blackout on London Protest

The almost total blackout on broadcast media of the police attack on the popular protest by thousands outside Downing Street – with 30 injured and 17 arrests – is in stark contrast to the wall to wall coverage of the staged fake “riot” in Glasgow in which 6 people were slightly rude to Jim Murphy with no arrests and no injuries.

The Baltimore Uprising and the U.S. Government's Record on Human Rights

On Friday, Baltimore state's attorney Marilyn Mosby declared that six police officers will face criminal charges including second degree heart murder, manslaughter, assault and false imprisonment for their role in the arrest and homicide of 25-year-old African American Freddie Gray. While this is welcome and encouraging news for those seeking justice for Gray and his family, past experience demonstrates the odds the accused criminals will be convicted are miniscule. Regardless, it is not enough to treat the Freddie Gray incident as merely a violation of domestic law.

It’s Official: Police Were Ordered To Stand Down And Let The Baltimore Riots Rage Out Of Control

We now have official confirmation that the rioting in Baltimore on Monday was purposely allowed to spiral out of control. Up until now, there had been some unconfirmed reports that police in Baltimore had been ordered to “stand down” during the riots, but nobody had been willing to come forward and go on the record. Now that has all changed. Michael Lewis is the Sheriff of Wicomico County, Maryland and what he has to say is absolutely jaw dropping. When he saw what was happening in Baltimore, he gathered up some of his fellow officers and drove down to the city to help. But when he got there, he says that all of the police were being ordered not to take any action and to let the rioters destroy property. Lewis made this astounding claim during a discussion on a Baltimore radio station…

New Example of the Pentagon, DEA and Private Companies Conspiring to Beat Encryption, Track Everything You Do

Yet another report has surfaced describing how tools created by the companies selling software that can damage and hack into people’s computers are being deployed by U.S. security services. While the coverage surrounding this story focuses primarily on federal agencies it’s important to step back for a moment and view the big picture. In particular, looking at who builds, operates, and profits from mass surveillance technology offers insight into the nature of the global panopticon.

Individual power in a decaying world

“Solutions to private problems and public problems require the ability to think things through, logically, and to reject what is unworkable or biased—but above and beyond that, a person needs to be able to imagine solutions that haven’t been tried before. He can’t keep asking other people to invent solutions for him. This is the hardest lesson. The habit of demanding that others come up with answers, that others find a way out of the tunnel—this habit is based on the assumption that one’s own power of imagination is grossly limited, which is a lie. You might say it is the central lie.”

Today’s Victory Day celebrations in Moscow mark a turning point in Russian history

Today is truly a historical day. For the first time ever the West has boycotted the Victory Day Parade in Moscow and, also for the first time ever, Chinese forces have marched on the Beautiful Square (“Red” square is a mistranslation – the “Red Square” ought be called the “Beautiful Square”) with the Russians. I believe that this is a profoundly symbolic shift and one which makes perfectly good sense.

Some advice for Pamela Geller

So, Pam, please change your ways. They are more than just hateful, bitter, and despicable. They're simply not working. If you insist on persisting in your current methods, I don't see bright days ahead. If your stubbornness gets the best of you, you might end up unemployed. But don't worry. There are other ways to survive. I'm sure Terry will have a spot for you in Florida. He could always use help on the fryer.

V-DAY: Russia’s Perpetual Fight Against Fascism

70 years since the great Victory! 70 years since Soviet people saved the world by smashing Nazism.

All accords with Russia were broken, whenever it suited invaders. The Scandinavians wiped out countless Russian lives, and so did the Germans, French, Poles, Brits, North Americans and Czechs, to name just a few. Russians never really ‘punished’ anybody, in the Protestant, Anglo-Saxon way. Punishment is mainly puritan, Protestant rubbish; the Russian way of thinking is too quixotic for that.

The West lied to Lenin, to Stalin, to Khrushchev and finally to Gorbachev. The West has been lying to Putin and about Putin.

Human Terrain System

The Human Terrain System (HTS) is a United States Army, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) support program employing personnel from the social science disciplines – such as anthropology, sociology, political science, regional studies and linguistics – to provide military commanders and staff with an understanding of the local population (i.e. the "human terrain") in the regions in which they are deployed

A Brief Overview Of ABI And Human Domain Analytics

In Iraq, the Intelligence Community was tasked with finding terrorists and insurgents bent on harming US Forces and their interests. These terrorists or insurgents rarely performed activities that were dissimilar from non-terrorists (especially in the planning phases). In terms of Iraqi mysteries, the questions were “Will something happen?” and “How can we predict it and prevent it?” Analysts began to develop techniques to address these mysteries using any means at their disposal to aggregate these activities, assess transactions, and develop networks of interest.

Thinking Differently: Unlocking the Human Domain in Support of the 21st Century Intelligence Mission

People are the currency of the human domain; their visible behaviors and symbols are one of the only ways to really discern their thoughts and motivations. Add in the cultural complexity of differing worldviews, beliefs and values that play on those thoughts and motivations and the domain becomes even less certain to decode. Factor in that U.S. military and civilian personnel directly, and indirectly, influence the course of interactions and behavior in the domain and the human domain becomes incredibly layered and dense, where meaning and purpose is difficult to extract and effort and skill necessary for success within the domain difficult to master.

Peace Lessons: How to Reduce Violence

Critical of an education system that is ‘primarily geared toward developing self-interested business managers and a compliant labor force – hence the emphasis on grades and punctuality’ and which affirms militarism and warfare, while ignoring the history of nonviolence and teaching students the skills necessary to tackle, peacefully, the violence prevalent in their own lives and the world at large, Braatz carefully explains how we might employ nonviolence, including at the international level, ‘to resolve conflicts without causing harm’.
