Iceland's Bardabunga Volcano Puts on Breathtaking Lava Display

The Bardabunga volcano in Iceland continues to put on quite a show, with lava pouring out of a gash, or fissure, in the ground.

The latest fissure eruption, which began on Sunday, could go on for weeks, if not longer. It may also lead to a greater hazard — an explosive eruption that sends large clouds of ash into the air and melts glacial ice, causing flooding.

Busybody Nation

If anyone above a kindergarten pay-grade has figured out America’s vital interest in the Ukraine, it has not been reported — or even leaked from the foundering vessel that is the US State Department. In fact, when you consider the results, it’s hard to understand the rationale behind any recent US foreign policy endeavor. Mr. Putin of Russia summed it up last week, saying, “Anything the US touches turns to Libya or Iraq.” Vlad has a point there, and what he left off the list, of course, was Ukraine, which entered the zone of failing states a few months ago when the US lubricated the overthrow of its previously-elected government.

NATO Membership For Ukraine – Another Move On The Grand Chessboard

As the geopolitical tug of war continues to take place over the ravaged country of Ukraine, both sides of the conflict – NATO and Russia – have begun taking steps toward a more solidified structure of alliances that will no doubt have massive reverberations across the world and possibly lead to direct confrontation between nuclear powers.

Indeed, as further evidence that the Western NATO bloc desires an ultimate conflict with Russia and the BRICS powers, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has indicated that Ukraine is firmly on the path to become an eventual member of the NATO alliance.

Simultaneously, West Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniyuk submitted a bill to the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada that would cancel Ukraine’s “non-aligned” status and restart Ukraine’s official attempt to become a member of NATO.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Yatseniyuk and Poroshenko have an industrial-strength problem here, and that is one of timing.

The next NATO General Assembly happens this Thursday and Friday in Cardiff, Wales, and NATO has not indicated that it will be adding new members at this time. They may have an emergency consultation after that to bring Ukraine in, but NATO leadership understands that Ukraine has really nothing to give NATO, save for a potential military confrontation with Russia, and because of the effect of existing sanctions against Russia (which may result in a potential turn off of gas which Europe desperately needs), may be very hesitant to accept Ukraine as a member.

Ukraine is dead broke, and in arrears on its payment to GAZPROM, the Russian energy company from which it gets the majority of its energy.

Ukraine may well balkanize, due to its financial problems, long before NATO deliberations on its membership have come to fruition, at which time the issue will become moot, and such a balkanization will put Russia in the ascendency once again.

EU chief rules out miliatry action over Ukraine

There can be no military solution to the Ukraine crisis, only a political one, Federica Mogherini, the European Union's new head of foreign policy, has insisted.

In her first interview since being appointed at the weekend, Ms Mogherini, soon to step down as Italy's foreign minister, said: "It's in the interests of Ukraine, Europe and Russia that the crisis should have a political, not a military solution."

Bloomberg Primes the Pump of the Deflationary Dialectic

Bloomberg offers two editorials on Europe that tell us economic growth is not going well. The one above speaks to the issue of Mario Draghi's lack of courage in terms of implementing a program of aggressive money printing.

The other one, which we excerpt below, is a kind of call to arms by Bloomberg itself – via its editorial staff – demanding that Europe's leaders scrap the fiscal pact negotiated in 2012 that mandates certain austerity measures.

Taken together, they seem to be indicating a certain level of distress, and yet there are other ways to regard this double-barreled explosion of concern over the EU's still-eroding economic condition.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, let's make things worse with a pointless sanctions war with Russia!

Anthony Lawson : The Crocodile Tears of the Press Corps Crying: Freedom!

As we approach the 13th anniversary of the events that changed the world, forever, if seems appropriate to list some examples of what the mainstream media—with all of its freedoms intact, at least in those days—totally ignored or dismissed as being wild conspiracy theories. I’m talking about the most obvious anomalies regarding the attacks of September 11th, 2001. Even after the 9/11 Commission Report was released, how many so-called journalists questioned these anomalies? So I am going to redress that, in retrospect, with a short sample of some of the headlines that never saw the light of day, but should have.

Considering the enormity of the events and the fact that Benjamin Netanyahu went on record on the day, stating: “It’s very good. Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy....” Why was this headline not seen anywhere?

The 9/11 Triple Cross

Three major thesis are in competition concerning the culprit of the 9/11 attacks:

1. Islam Job: the official conclusion of the 9/11 Commission, blaming Muslim terrorists in general, and Osama bin Laden in particular;
2. Inside Job: the dominant thesis within the so-called 9/11 Truth movement, which accuses the American government, or a faction within the American Deep State;
3. Mossad Job: the rising alternative thesis within the community of truth seekers, which claim that the masterminds were a Zionist network close to the Israeli Likud.

French President Says "There Is Risk Of War" As Europe Plans Additional Russia Sanctions

For months Europe had thought that mere verbal (and hollow) threats, populist posturing and propaganda would be enough to force Russia's Putin to back off and withdraw from the endless Ukraine escalation, into a Kremlin cocoon with his tail between his legs. What they didn't anticipate was that Putin would in no way back down (as that would be seen as defeat and weakness by his numerous internal foes), nor would have have to: with Russia providing a third of European gas and with winter approaching, Russia had all the trumps cards from day one.

EU leaders deliver sanctions ultimatum to Russia over Ukraine

European Union leaders have given Russia a week to reverse course in Ukraine or face a new round of sanctions as Kiev warns it is on the brink of full-scale war with Moscow.

Fears are growing that the confrontation on the EU's eastern borders could engulf the whole continent after Russia sent troops to back a new offensive by pro-Kremlin rebels in south-east Ukraine.

The EU president, Herman Van Rompuy, said the 28 leaders meeting in Brussels had agreed to take "further significant steps" if Moscow did not back down.

NATO plans to dispatch 10,000 troops to eastern Ukraine

NATO is reportedly planning to send an expeditionary force composed of 10,000 troops from seven different member states to Ukraine amid rising tensions with Russia over the conflict in Eastern European country.

The creation of the force will be led by Britain and involve contributions from Denmark, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway, and the Netherlands, media outlets reported on Saturday.

Canada is also interested in joining the plan, but it is not known what its final decision will be.

Although no formal announcement has been made yet, British Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to declare the force formation at the upcoming NATO summit in Wales on September 4.

Facts withheld regarding the MH17 Malaysian airlines crash. Dutch Government Refuses to Release Black Box Recordings

On Aug. 11, the Dutch Safety Board announced that a preliminary report would be published in a week with the first factual finding of the ongoing investigation into the flight that departed from Amsterdam and crashed in Ukraine. The Netherlands was given custody of the flight data recorder, or black box recordings, from the crash.

As of Aug. 25, the Dutch government has refused to release the recordings. This, of course, immediately raises suspicions that the Kiev junta forces were responsible for the crash.

Russia demands publication of recordings from downed flight MH17

The data from the black boxes should be published, says Russia's deputy defence minister, saying the 'Boeing catastrophe throws up more and more questions'

Russia is demanding to know why international investigators have yet to publish the black box data from a Malaysian airliner that was shot down over eastern Ukraine in July, a deputy defence minister said in an interview published on Saturday.

Moscow blames Ukraine for the disaster, in which all 298 passengers and crew were killed. In a version of events widely believed in the West, Ukraine says the Boeing 777 was shot down by pro-Russian separatists with a surface-to-air missile.

Activists gather for week-long protests against NATO

As world leaders prepare to attend the NATO Summit in Newport next week, campaigners are mobilising for a week of protest and debate to challenge this ‘interventionist, expansionist, military club.’

A mass demonstration against NATO will take place in Newport tomorrow (Saturday 30 August), while a Counter-Summit will be held on Sunday 31 August at Cardiff County Hall, and on Monday 1 September in Newport.

Webmaster's Commentary:

NATO has simply become a ossified war machine on steroids.

And not a particularly effective one at that, if you look at the condition of the occupation of Afghanistan, where there is absolutely no military metric by which the occupation can be judged as a "success".

Miko Peled # Zionism Must Go #Free Palestine, End the Occupation

Miko Peled talks of Changing the Conversation on Palestine.

"Connecting Gaza back to Palestine"

He began by saying: “To understand what happened in Gaza recently, you must go back to Balfour and to 1947”

“It is impossible to talk about Gaza, without talking about 1947 and 1948 and so on…”

He notes an attempt is being made to isolate Gaza from the rest of Palestine. Which is what Israel, the U.S. and the Europeans have been doing. By isolating it, they are stopping the solution.

Palestine is not Gaza and the West Bank. Palestine is the Galilee, it is Jerusalem, it is Jaffa and it is Haifa, it is the entire country, he notes.

The Peace talks and all these so-called efforts is an attempt to bring the Palestinians to surrender. But, the Palestinians will not surrender. And Hamas will not go away.

Hamas is an resistance organization. It was established as a result of a brutal Oppression and Occupation.

Has Ukraine Shot Itself In The Foot With Gas Pipeline Deal?

Last week, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yatsenyuk pushed a bill through the Verkhovna Rada that would see his country’s gas transportation system sold off to a group of international investors. The provisions of the law would permit the transit of natural gas to be blocked. This decision may hurt the fragile industrial recovery in Germany and finish off Ukraine’s potential as a gas transit route to Europe.

Europe closer to deflation as investors wait for ECB move

Europe edged closer towards the deflation abyss on Friday as the inflation rate across the single-currency bloc fell to a five-year low of just 0.3 per cent.

The latest decline — driven by falling food and energy prices — comes as the region attempts to shake off economic stagnation, and fuels calls for European Central Bank president Mario Draghi to launch a large-scale money-printing programme.

Draghi said last week the option was on the table to kick-start growth, but Germany signalled opposition to such a move today as finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble warned the ECB “doesn’t have the instruments” to fight deflation. A sanctions war with Russia is meanwhile threatening economic prospects.

Mainstream media steps up anti-Russia propaganda on Ukraine

With regard to the goings-on in Ukraine, I have heard quite a few European and American voices piping in, saying that, yes, Washington and Kiev are fabricating an entirely fictional version of events for propaganda purposes, but then so are the Russians. They appear to assume that if their corporate media is infested with mendacious, incompetent buffoons who are only too happy to repeat the party line, then the Russians must be same or worse.

The reality is quite different. While there is a virtual news blackout with regard to Ukraine in the West, with little being shown beyond pictures of talking heads in Washington and Kiev, the media coverage in Russia is relentless, with daily bulletins describing troop movements, up-to-date maps of the conflict zones, and lots of eye-witness testimony, commentary and analysis.

EU Sanctions Boomerang – Poor leadership once again

What I am beginning to see now, which I had missed earlier, was an unofficial roll-out of the “economic war” version of that same preemptive strike policy. Some elites in a boardroom somewhere decided that we had the same right to attack countries that we felt could be an economic threat in the future, that it would be cheaper and safer to attack them now. Since we had already given ourselves permission to attack militarily, the elites also assumed the right to conduct first-strike economic wars and to use the military in whatever capacity needed.

One of the clues that woke me up to this was the obvious US play to steer Europe away from Russian energy supplies and replacing them with pipe-lined resources from the Persian Gulf. Hence, there was a need to take Syria out to eliminate the Russian base there, and control the pipeline territory to the Eastern Mediterranean. Over 170,000 Syrians have been murdered in the process.

The OSCE was told there was no Russian presence spotted across the Ukraine border, refuting Thursday's claims that a full-scale invasion was underway. Both the Ukrainian monitoring team head and Russia's representative have given a firm 'no.'

The chorus of allegations about Russia's military invasion of Ukraine had President Poroshenko calling for an emergency meeting of the country’s security and defense council, while Prime Minister Yatsenyuk on Thursday called for a Russian asset freeze.

No actual evidence has been given either by either foreign governments or the media, apart from claims that photographs exist that someone had "seen."

Washington Sabotages Russian/Ukrainian Summit

On Monday, Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko met in Minsk. It was their first official bilateral meeting. They discussed relevant geopolitical issues. Key is resolving Southeastern Ukraine’s ongoing conflict.
Putin urges doing it peacefully. Poroshenko’s continues war without mercy. He deplores democracy. He wants freedom fighting self-defense forces crushed. He wants unchallenged hardline rule.
He lied saying his visit was “to stop the bloodshed and to start the process of finding a political compromise. The interests of the people of Donbass should and will be taken into account.”
His actions speak louder than words. Peace is an executive decision away. He can make it by calling off his dogs. He can choose diplomacy over confrontation. He can order a ceasefire. He can do so straightaway. He can meet face-to-face with Southeastern Ukrainian leaders. He can respect their democratic credentials. He can listen to their demands.

The demand conveyed in the above box is plastered on top of the most non-Christian web site on the internet: CUFI, Christians United for Israel. Would that it would read: Christians United for Isolation of Israel, then it would offer a Christian message of a peaceful means to stop genocide in Palestine. The very thought that an organization could call itself Christian and demand that Christians support the wanton slaughter of children and mothers and fathers caught like animals in a cage and mercilessly shot to death borders on the actions of human madness. What ministers of god would dare such mendacity in Christ’s name? How abhorrent.

Kiev Forces Defeated in East Ukraine. Could Obama’s Legacy Be Destroyed by His Ukraine Policy?

The Ukrainian Government that the Obama Administration installed after Obama’s successful coup d’etat in Ukraine is now crashing and burning in the process of the newly installed Government’s ethnic-cleansing program to get rid of the people in Ukraine’s southeast, the area of Ukraine that had voted overwhelmingly for the President whom the Obama Administration (the State Department and the CIA) had overthrown in February.

The residents there rejected this new Government; this new Government is trying to exterminate them; and the local rebel-fighters against that are winning, and are decimating thousands of troops who were sent in to kill them and their families, and are shooting down many of the bombers that have been sent in to bomb them.

Ukraine Accuses Russia Of Imminent Gas Cut-Off, Russia Denies, Germans Anxious

So much for the Russia-Ukraine talks bringing the two sides together as even Germany's Steinmeier could only say it's "hard to say if breakthrough made." Shortly after talks ended, Ukrainian Premier Yatsenyuk stated unequivocally that "we know about the plans of Russia to cut off transit even in European Union member countries," followed by some notably heavy-on-the-war-rhetoric comments. NATO chief eyes more bases in E. Europe to confront Russia

Under the pretext of an 'overt' Russian threat, NATO is pushing for a ‘readiness action plan’ that will bring the Cold War military bloc closer to Russian borders than ever - even despite objections from some NATO members.

NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said the 28-nation military bloc, which meets next week in Cardiff, Wales, would attempt to overcome internal opposition and agree to the deployment of military bases near the Russian border.

Amid the ongoing Ukrainian conflict, which is fracturing the country along east-west ideological lines, NATO is preparing to install for the first time military “reception facilities” in Eastern European countries, including Poland and the three Baltic countries: Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to NATO Secretary General Rasmussen: the title of this article should have read: "NATO chief eyes more bases in E. Europe to PROVOKE Russia."

Sir, I would very much like to remind you that so far, Russia has done absolutely nothing wrong.

The legitimate, elected government of Ukraine was overthrown in a US/EU/ECB-sponsored putsch earlier this year, so the Poroshenko could be "installed" as its President.

At that point, Crimea, which has long been a part of Russia, before Kruschiev, an ethnic Ukrainian, annexed it, asked to become part of the Russian Federation. And in what was characterized as a "free and fair election", complete with observers, the Crimean people chose to become a part of the Russian Federation.

And is not "the right to peaceful self-determiniation" one of the underpinnings of the UN Charter?!?

Secretary Fasmussen, Russia is not the aggressor here; NATO, the US, and the West, are the aggressors here.

What I am seeing, Secretary General Rasmussen, is a prelude to a war between Russia, and Europe, NATO, and the US.

This is absolutely the antithesis of what should be happening here, where Russia and NATO should be working collaboratively to establish a broader basis for peace, humanitarian operations, and a more sane world.

Kim Howells, former foreign office minister, fears that home grown Islamic State terrorists could be planning to attack.

More than 9,000 officers from across the UK have been drafted in to police event and traffic disruptions are likely.

The total cost for security is not yet known and is expected to be published after the summit by the Government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ultimately, after we turned around and got back home, I had to call our director, and explain that I was unable to get to church because of all the guys carry rifles, and he was quite understanding.

It felt rather as though the Constitution and Bill of Rights had been suspended on Oahu for that day, and I found myself very, very angry.

CIA acted to shape Portugal's post-revolutionary political scene

The US State Department approved its first clandestine operational plan for Portugal on 27th September 1974 with the stated aim of “avoiding the communists taking power” according to documents publicly released on their 40th anniversary.

This is the first time ever that there has been formal acknowledgement of such actions decided upon by the 40 Committee that oversaw all such operations including those run by the CIA.

However, there is unlikely to be any major local fallout from the revelations as the Portuguese politicians, parties and organisations involved in such operations are not only not named, with any reference from the now declassified version deleted but also only ever described vaguely.

The timing of 27th September proves significant as this was on the eve of the coup by the Movimento das Forças Armadas (MFA), a left-leaning faction of the armed forces, that brought down the government on 30th September.

The Netherlands, the world's second-largest exporter of agricultural products, sells hundreds of millions of euros worth of vegetables, fruit and food products to Russia every year.

The Dutch statistics office has estimated the country's agriculture sector will suffer about 300 million euros ($395.5 million) in lost business this year, with Russia accounting for about 10 percent of Dutch exports of vegetables, fruit and meat.

NATO Debates Directing Missile Shield against Russia

With fears of Moscow growing after its intervention in Ukraine, NATO member states in Eastern Europe would like NATO to direct a planned missile-defense system against Russia as well. The calls have divided the military alliance.

Finland: NATO Military Aid to Kiev ‘Not Possible’

"Of course it’s not possible. Not from NATO because NATO only provides military assistance to its members, and that’s well known. And the EU doesn’t have the capacity to provide this kind of support," he believes, RT reported.

Stubb was commenting on a request voiced Sunday by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin, who said Kiev would welcome military aid from NATO and the EU in an interview.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Finnish Prime Minister may well be in for a grand surprise at the next NATO summit in Wales on the 4th and 5th of next month; I wouldn't be at all surprised if the issue of bringing Ukraine into NATO is not fast-tracked at that time, because Ukraine is absolutely falling apart, financially and militarily.

Without NATO intervention, and soon, the Ukraine may well not be able to survive.

EU Advisors Advocate use of Military Against Strikes and Protests

Experts at a European Union (EU) think-tank are demanding that the EU prepare to put down strikes and protests with military force. Due to the deepening social inequality in a globalised economy and growing military conflicts within the EU’s borders, such outbursts will inevitably increase.

In the study by the European Union Institute for Security Studies, the authors bluntly state that in the face of these developments, the army will have to be used increasingly for policing duties to protect the rich from the anger of the poor.

The book appeared a year after the near-collapse of the global financial system in 2008, entitled “Perspectives for European Defence 2020.” It makes clear that academics and politicians are very aware of the revolutionary implications of the crisis. They are working through scenarios that would allow the opposition of the vast majority of the population to social attacks to be suppressed.

"Anti-Putin" Alliance Fraying: Germany, Slovakia, Greece, Czech Republic Urge End To Russian Sanctions

Last week Germany reported that in the second quarter, its GDP declined by 0.2%, worse than Wall Street consensus. This happened a few shorts days after Italy reported a second consecutive decline in its own GDP, becoming the first Europen country to enter a triple-dip recession. What's worse, Europe's slowdown took place before the brunt of Russian sanctions hit. Surely in the third quarter the GDP of Germany, a nation whose exports accounts for 41% of GDP, will be even worse, with whisper numbers of -1% being thrown casually around, but one thing is certain: Europe is about to enter its third recession since the Lehman collapse just as we forecast at the end of 2013, a "triple-dip" which may become an outright depression unless Draghi injects a few trillion in credit money (which will do nothing but delay the inevitable and make it that much worse once the can can no longer be kicked), and unless normal trade ties with Russia are restored.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In another time, this might have slowed the march to war between Russia and the US; unfortunately, however, too many corporations have too much invested in such a war to back off now.

I am fully expecting a false flag event, to be blamed on Russia, as the trigger here, because nothing else appears to be working.

However, I would like to politely point out that the US military doesn't have the money, the manufacturing, or the troop strength to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war with Russia, which is what makes the military scenario so scarily dangerous.

How long it will take for the US government to turn such a war nuclear, I cannot foretell; but I would imagine it would be when they realize they can not potentially win this any other way.

Spanish public debt tops one trillion euros

Spain’s public debt has topped one trillion euros ($1.3 trillion) for the first time, the central bank announced Thursday, despite years of government-imposed austerity.

The nation’s accumulated public debt mushroomed to 1.007 trillion euros at the end of June from 996 billion euros a month earlier, the Bank of Spain said in a report.

Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s government has struggled to contain annual deficits by raising taxes, freezing public salaries and curbing spending on services such as education and health care despite angry street protests.

Though the annual deficits are on the decline, they continue to push up the sovereign debt of the eurozone’s fourth-largest economy. The public debt figure includes the cost of a 41-billion-euro banking rescue in 2012 financed by Spain’s eurozone partners.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem with such a Ponzie scheme is that it cannot remain stable forever, and there will be a hard and fast point when their economy (and ours) will collapse.

Ukraine Passes Russian Sanctions Law: Gas Transit Halt Seems Imminent

The Ukrainian parliament approved a law on Thursday to impose sanctions on Russian companies and individuals "for financing terrorism." As Reuters reports, Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk told parliament that "by approving the law on sanctions, we showed that the country is able to protect itself." The first 'threat' though - that European energy companies would have to agree major contract revisions when purchasing Russian natural gas, potentially disrupting supplies in the coming winter months - seems suicidal... and EU leaders are not happy.

Putin Says The Petrodollar Must Die, "The Dollar Monopoly In Energy Trade Is Damaging Russia's Economy"

On one hand, despite initial weakness following Europe's triple-dip red alert, futures declined only to surge higher after some headline or another out of Russia was again spun to suggest imminent Ukraine de-escalation (something which Russia whose only interest is to keep crude prices high, has absolutely zero interest in), perpetuating a rumor which was set off by a Russian media outlet tweet last week that has sent S&P futures over 50 higher in less than a week on... nothing.

On the other, Putin just said the following, which no matter how one spins it, shows precisely how Russia is inclined vis-a-vis future (un-de-counter) escalations.

PUTIN SAYS RUSSIA SHOULD AIM TO SELL OIL AND GAS FOR ROUBLES GLOBALLY, AS DOLLAR MONOPOLY IN ENERGY TRADE IS DAMAGING ECONOMY

Webmaster's Commentary:

NATO sees “high probability” of Russian invasion in east Ukraine

NATO said on Monday there was a “high probability” that Russia could launch an invasion of eastern Ukraine under the guise of a humanitarian operation, but a defiant President Vladimir Putin said Moscow was sending an aid convoy into the country.

With Ukraine reporting Russia has massed 45,000 troops on its border, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso also warned Putin against any military intervention in the country.

The past week has seen increasingly urgent warnings from Kiev and Western countries that Putin appeared to be planning an invasion.

Western countries said Putin – who has whipped up the passions of Russians with a relentless nationalist campaign in state-controlled media since annexing Ukraine’s Crimea peninsula in March – could invade to head off a humiliating rebel defeat.

Webmaster's Commentary:

For the Zillionth time: Russia did not annex Crimea; after the legitimate government in Kiev was overthrown in a putsch, the Crimean government, through a free and fair referendum of its people, chose to join the Russian Federation: Crimea was not annexed, and Russia has done absolutely nothing wrong here.

And why is NATO that concerned about Ukraine, when Ukraine is not even a NATO member?!? That may change in September, because on September 4th and 5th, NATO holds its next summit in Wales, but as of 12 August, 2014, Ukraine is not a NATO member.

But other than accusations, NATO has absolutely no credible evidence that Russia would even begin to invade Ukraine; and why in heaven's name would Putin do this?!? There is absolutely zero strategic benefit to Russia's invading Ukraine.

But right now, with the fog of war so thoroughly saturating the geopolitical atmosphere now, it is clear that the US government wants a war against Russia, to prevent the collapse of the the US dollar (or have a war to blame it on, when the dollar collapses), and the economic ascendance of both the Russian ruble, and the Chinese yuan.

Were I a betting person, I would not bet against the US creating some kind of false flag event, to be blamed on the Russian government as a "justification" for war against it.

Perhaps a false flag attack in Ukraine may be considered the best and fastest impetus to having Ukraine join NATO as quickly as humanly possible.

Bildt troubled by Russian food sanctions

Putin is aiming the sanctions at those who imposed sanctions against Russia, namely the 28 EU members, plus Norway, the US, Canada and Australia. The sanctions are against such food items as meat, fish, poultry, dairy, fruit and vegetables.

Putin's decision surprised many because, according to the newspaper European Voice, almost 40 percent of Russia's food imports come from EU countries.

UK Parliamentary Defense Committee demands NATO Prepare for Confrontation with Russia

The UK’s parliamentary Defence Committee has demanded that Western military powers strengthen NATO to prepare for confrontation with Russia.

The report by the cross-party group of Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat MPs complains that the “NATO alliance has not considered Russia as an adversary or a potential territorial threat to its Member States for twenty years” and has now only been “forced to do so as a result of Russia’s recent actions” in eastern Ukraine.

In the interim, NATO alliance has been weakened as member states have cut their defence budgets leaving it “ill-prepared” to face up to Russian “aggression” and potentially lacking the “collective political will to take concerted action…”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but has the UK's Parliamentary Defense Committee gone collectively barking mad, or are they suffering from SMD (Selective Memory Disorder)?!?

Let's take a look at the timeline here.

1. Ukraine's duly elected government was sacked in a putsch, and a Western/European/Central European Bank-enabled junta was installed.

2. Without a duly elected government in Kiev, Crimea had a free and fair referendum enabling to become attached to the Russia Federation.
Please remember: Russia did not ANNEX Crimea: the people of Crimea voted to rejoin Russia, a country to which it had always been attached until the mid-50s when it was annexed to Ukraine by Nikita Khrushchev.
3. Russia has done absolutely nothing wrong in this case; it cannot possibly be seen as the aggressor. There is no gathering of troops or equipment on the Ukrainian/Russian border, and OCSE officials are saying that there are no violations of the border from the Russian side.
4. The Western-backed Poroschenko, however, has been lobbing bombs on areas of Eastern Ukraine, and killing civilians. This is a war crime. He refuses to negotiate, or even hear their grievances. His military also has been lobbbing bombs into Russian territory.

The only "threats" Russia (and ultimately, China) present is economic. This is about preventing more trade the the ruble and the yuan, period, end of discussion.

A shooting war against Russia would be absolute, utter madness.

And if you want any evidence of "how well" NATO is doing militarily, all you have to do is look at their performance in Afghanistan, over the last 13 years and counting, and that should give you a clue as to how well they would do against Russia, which is to say, terribly badly.

Putin Explains That Russian Sovereignty Under Attack By The Global Elite

Any nation that is part of an alliance gives up part of its sovereignty. This does not always meet the national interests of a given country, but this is their sovereign decision. We expect our national legal interests to be respected, while any controversies that always exist, to be resolved only through diplomatic efforts, by means of negotiations. Nobody should interfere in our internal affairs.

However, ever more frequently today we hear of ultimatums and sanctions. The very notion of state sovereignty is being washed out. Undesirable regimes, countries that conduct an independent policy or that simply stand in the way of somebody’s interests get destabilised. Tools used for this purpose are the so-called colour revolutions, or, in simple terms – takeovers instigated and financed from the outside.

Killing Russian Journalists in Ukraine is Organized Effort – Willy Wimmer

There is fear spreading through Europe of the specter of war, fuelled by aggressive war propaganda by the West in their attempt to demonize Russia. In Germany, for the first time, people do not trust their mass media. All over Europe appearing strange fascist parties. The blind drive by the US in pursuit of their geopolitical objectives in Europe and in Ukraine has placed the entire European continent in an unstable and extremely dangerous position.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is a good reason for the US to focus their war-making efforts on Europe. During WW2, the United States was the only industrialized nation to escape bombing. For twenty years after WW2, the rest of the world had to come to the United States to purchase the machine tools to rebuild their own industry, and of course, during that time, consumers in other countries had to buy industrially-produced goods from the United States as well. Together with the Breton-Woods agreement forcing the use of the dollar for all global trade, the United States made out like a bandit economically. But over the last 30 years, manufacturing in the United States has declined. At the end of WW2 there were thirty American companies manufacturing TV sets. Today there are none. Asian electronics rule the world. Asian and European cars outclass those produced in America.

The goal for the US Government in WW3 is not only to force the world back to the US dollar but to trigger wars in industrial regions that compete with US industries, to smash them and force the world back into a period of dependence on American manufacturing.

In order for a new wave of sanctions to pass, all 28 EU members must unanimously vote in favor. EU ministers plan to discuss new sanctions against Russia at their summit in Brussels on Wednesday, July 16. Even if only one country vetoed, sanctions would not be imposed. With heavyweights like France and Germany opposed to more sanctions the measure will likely again be stalled, the source said.

NATO estimates Russia has 10,000-12,000 troops near Ukraine border

Russia has been building up its forces again along the Ukrainian border and now has an estimated 10,000-12,000 troops in the area, a NATO military officer said on Monday.

Russia withdrew most of the 40,000 troops it had close to the border earlier this year, reducing them to fewer than 1,000 by mid-June. But since then, it has been building up its forces again, the officer said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF, in fact, this report is accurate, why was the person giving this information hiding behind the cloak of anonymity?!?

So far, NATO has been absolutely incapable of coming up with credible information as to what the Russian troop strength is on their side of the Ukrainian border.

Portugal Contagion Spreads: Espirito Santo To Default On Portugal Telecom Loan, Business Lending Drops Most On Record

Despite reassurances from US asset-gatherers and TV 'personalities' that Portugal must be fixed (because US equities are up), it is anything but. Today's triple whammy from the 'recovered' Portugal starts with Banco Espirito Santo bonds and stocks hitting new record lows (down over 10% more on the day). The contagion has rippled across to Rioforte, which controls Grupo Espirito Santo's non-financial arm - and is likely to default on a EUR 847 million payment to Portugal Telecom. And just to add further salt to that wound, Portuguese business lending in May collapsed at a record pace (down 8.23%). But apart from that, yeash Portugal is all fixed and their sovereign bonds are worth every penny...

The Real Purpose Of The IMF

The International Monetary Fund was set up in 1945, describing itself as an “organization of 188 countries, working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.”

This all sounds very laudable, but in reality the IMF has a very different purpose from that which is stated. If you look at the history of the IMF’s intervention in countries around the world you will see a trail of disaster and looting that repeats time and time again wherever they go.

Robbing Peter

On 16th March 2013, the banks of Cyprus, with the approval of the Cyprus Government, the European Commission, the European Central Bank, and the International Monetary Fund, confiscated private savings of accounts exceeding €100,000.

At the time, there were two readings of the unanimous approval by four bodies. As the confiscation was presented to the public, the unanimous approval implied that the confiscation was above board. To those who looked a bit deeper, however, the unanimous approval meant that, not only had the four bodies clearly been working on the plan for some time, behind closed doors, but it also demonstrated that all four bodies colluded to steal a significant amount of privately owned money.

Bulgaria's Central Bank Revokes License of Corporate Commercial Bank

The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) is to suspend the license of troubled Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB) and to nationalize its subsidiary, Credit Agricole Bulgaria.

BNB is also to transfer citizens' and companies' assets held in KTB into Credit Agricole Bulgaria, where money from Bulgaria's Deposit Insurance Fund (DIF), which protects personal and corporate deposits up to EUR 100 000.

At the same time, some BGN 3.5 B (EUR 1.75 B) seem to be "missing" from the bank, public broadcaster BNR quoted the central bank's Governor Ivan Iskrov as saying.

It is the 3.5-billion-worth gap that changed BNB's "initial plans" to help KTB to recuperate after stepping into its management to avoid a further crisis, he explained.

Germany clears path for EU to directly fund ailing banks

he EU’s bailout fund has moved closer to being able to directly pump money into troubled banks after the German government introduced a bill allowing direct bank recapitalisation.

The German government has introduced a bill allowing the EU’s bailout fund to directly fund struggling banks

The draft law will now require approval in the Bundestag, but is planned to enter into force in November.

“This is an important step to stabilise our financial sector … and to increase further the trust in our common European currency,” said finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble on Wednesday (9 July).

He added that the law would help “rule out the risk that the taxpayer would have to accept liability, as in the financial crisis”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question has to be asked: how many EU banks are in deep financial trouble, and by how much?!?

Germany Blesses “Bail-In” Deposit Confiscation Plan For Failing EU Banks

One year earlier than required, the German government approved plans to force creditors into propping up struggling banks across Europe. As WSJ reports, Germany “leads the way” in Europe by implementing European rules quickly and “creates instruments that allow the winding-down of big systemically relevant institutions without putting the financial stability at risk.” What this means is that taxpayers (theoretically) will not be on the hook (though in reality we are sure the mutually assured destruction defense will be played – especially if Deutsche runs into problems) but as German authorities explain, “This ensures that in times of crisis mainly owners and creditors will contribute to solving the crisis, and not taxpayers.” As a gentle reminder – creditors includes depositors… remember Cyprus?

NATO Chief Warns of Duplicity by Putin on Ukraine

The secretary general of the NATO alliance warned on Tuesday that Russia was playing a “double game” in Ukraine, issuing conciliatory public statements while massing its forces along the border and smuggling arms and equipment to separatists inside eastern Ukraine.

“There’s no doubt that Russia is heavily engaged in destabilizing eastern Ukraine, and they continue their activities,” said the secretary general, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, in an interview shortly after meeting with President Obama at the White House.

Speaking in unusually blunt terms, Mr. Rasmussen, whose term ends in October, warned the West not to be fooled by moderate statements by President Vladimir V. Putin, who he said was trying to fend off another round of economic sanctions.

“Don’t make any mistake, it’s pure tactics,” Mr. Rasmussen said. “He keeps open the option to intervene if necessary.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Having absolutely zero credible evidence to support his claims doesn't seem to bother this guy at all.

And he appears to be blissfully in the throes of SMD (selective memory disorder), as he appears to not at all remember that the duly elected government of Ukraine was thrown out via a Western/US/EU putsch, and Poroshenko was installed as President.

When that happened, the Crimean Parliament decided to have a referendum (considered free and fair by international observers, BTW) through which they decided to rejoin Russia.

They had always been a part of Russia, historically, until the 50s, when Nikita Khrushchev, himself an ethnic Ukrainian by birth, annexed Crimea to be part of Ukraine.

Russia did absolutely nothing wrong here.

But Poroshenko has been playing picador against Russia, just as hard and fast as he dares, and it is obvious that he is goading Russia almost to its breaking point.

So far, Putin has been very reserved in his response.

However, there may be a day coming when Putin will feel he has no other response than a military one against Ukraine, which will pit the US/Europe/NATO/Ukraine against Russia.

I would like to politely point out to those precious few adults in the bowels of power in Europe, NATO, and the US that this combination does not have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia. Moreover, instead of spending globs of money on programs that promise much, but don't deliver (let's say,as in the case of the F-35), Russia has spent more wisely on its weapons systems.

I can almost smell the fog of war coming to this region; a bitter, acrid, foul smell of discharged weapons, co-mingled with that of blood, ultimately shed for which pretty little printed piece of paper becomes the world's primary fiat currency.

Currency Wars - Europe Seeks Alternative To 'Dollar Imperialism'

Today in Brussels the French Finance Minister, Michel Sapin, will start a debate with his EU counterparts on how the European Union can reduce its dependency on the U.S. dollar. Should the discussion find traction it may contribute to the ongoing monumental shift in global monetary economics with the gradual decline of the dollar as the global reserve currency.

Mr Sapin said in an interview with The Financial Times, “We [Europeans] are selling to ourselves in dollars, for instance when we sell planes. Is that necessary? I don’t think so. I think a rebalancing is possible and necessary, not just regarding the euro but also for the big currencies of the emerging countries, which account for more and more of global trade.”

The U.S. dollar has enjoyed reserve currency status for most of the past 70 years. This status confers enormous power to the dollar and allows the U.S. government to fund its trade deficits at very low cost.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Today's meeting could put the US dollar into an industrial-strength world of hurt.

The DOW and NASDAC appear to be on a strong downward spiral at this point in the morning.

Austria audits off-shore gold reserves

After growing public pressure among Austrians who have been sceptical about the continued existence of their country's gold reserves at the London bank, Austrian National Bank governor Ewald Nowotny confirmed at the end of May that an audit would take place.

"I acknowledge the request. Any grocery store is obliged to do inventory once a year. It is the only way of getting rid of these unreasonable allegations,” said Nowotny.

The web site Goldreporter.de states that Austria officially owns 280 metric tonnes of gold, of which 17 percent are kept in the country. Of the remainder, some 150 tonnes are believed to be stored in London.

In recent years, a rising number of sceptics have expressed concern about the continued existence of European gold deposits, especially those belonging to Germany that were being held by the US Federal Reserve.

NATO chief to move forces from U.S. to Europe to respond to Russia in Ukraine

NATO’s top military commander said Monday that American troops from the United States will be dispatched to Europe starting in October to help respond to Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Air Force Gen. Philip M. Breedlove, supreme allied commander of the Western military alliance, said the U.S.-based troops will buttress American forces that have already been moved in recent months from Germany, Italy and elsewhere in Europe for stepped-up ground and air patrols in the three Baltic countries of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, plus Poland and Romania.

“It’s a very momentous time in Europe, probably the most since the end of the Cold War, especially because of the recent changes wrought by Russia,” Breedlove told reporters at the Pentagon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to General Breedlove; sir, forgive me, but are you suffering from SMD? (Selective Memory Disorder)?

IF so, I am very sorry to hear it, but permit me, please, to lay down a little timeline for you.

On February 22nd, the duly elected President of Ukraine, Viktor Yankovych, was thrown out of office in a western/US sponsored putsch.

On the 6th of March, 20134, the Crimean Parliament requested to become part of the Russian Federation, and that was confirmed by a vote in what observers characterized as a clear and fair election. And sir, it is obvious that, as in the Sam Cooke song that starts, "don't know much about history...", you do not have a clue as to the history of this region. It was annexed by Khrushchev, himself an ethnic Ukrainian in the mid-50s, but always had strong historical ties to Russia before that. This was a choice made by the people of Crimea: Russia did not "annex" this territory.

3. In May of 2014, Petro Poroshenko, a pro-European, pro-ECB supported was elected President of Ukraine. He continues to slaughter his own people as I type this in Eastern Ukraine, and will not negotiate with any of the groups looking for more autonomy. The picture to the right of this article documents just how wonderfully this is going for the innocent people whose homes have been bombed to smithereens by Poroshenko's "scorched earth" policy. General, please take a good, hard look at this woman, probably in her late 50s or early 60s; she will never, ever get her life back, ever again, for the rest of her lifetime. This is Poroshenko's doing.

Russia has done absolutely nothing which at all deserves to be demonized, when it is the US and the West which supported the coup which drove the last duly elected president of Ukraine and replaced him with "one of their own."

And lastly, sir, please be aware; in the age of a 24/7 news cycle, in the new era of the bloggers, the "big lie" technique no longer works; one can time the destruction of such a lie with a stop watch these days.

So please, stop lying to the American people and the world about who started this mess, and about unprovable numbers of Russian forces allegedly massing on their side of the Russian/Ukrainian border, particularly when Putin has invited OCSE observers to watch what is happening from the Russian side.

Sorry sir; this dodo-bird is pure lead, in terms of completely non-factual, and will not fly.

The European Union prepares the ‘solidarity clause’ framework for military use against citizens

The use of the “European Gendarmerie Force” (EUROGENDFOR) is made ??possible by the “solidarity clause” as Heise reported. At the unit, headquartered in Vicenza, Italy, all EU Member States are involved, the Gendarmerien, so police forces with military status are used. One of the founding countries of the EUROGENDFOR include Portugal, Spain, Italy, France and the Netherlands. We provide our services to the police unit of the EU, NATO or the UN.

“The ‘solidarity clause’ is redundant, since the EU already has mechanisms for mutual assistance in case of disasters. Secondly, the clause amplifies the course to a militarization of domestic politics, since upon request military can be used in another Member State.

Mini Tax Havens: How Europe’s 1% Gets To Pay Only 1%

Something completely out of the ordinary happened in Spain this week: a politician resigned. His name is Willy Meyer and he was, until Wednesday morning at least, a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and European Parliamentary leader for Spain’s ostensibly far-left party “Izquierda Union.”

The reason for Meyer’s resignation is that he was caught funneling his parliamentary pension contributions into an EU-sponsored investment fund commonly referred to as a SICAV (standing for Société d’Investissement à Capital Variable) – an investment vehicle that Meyer’s own party has long pledged to ban.

Watch Out for that Banana Peel

Recently, the EU announced that it is looking into legislation to allow the savings of EU citizens to "be used to fund long-term investments to boost the economy and help plug the gap left by banks since the financial crisis."

Sounds reasonable enough. But why would legislation be needed? It's perfectly legal for people to invest their savings in such ventures now, should they choose to do so.

Let's see what else the EU have to say: They are considering a law "to mobilize more personal pension savings for long-term financing." Mobilise? An odd term to use when discussing privately held savings. It could mean "encourage investment," or it could just as easily mean "confiscate." The former might be okay, but the latter would clearly not.

EU Gives Russia Three Days to De-Escalate Ukraine Crisis, Threatens Sanctions

The European Council on Friday said it would give Moscow three days to de-escalate the situation in Ukraine, or it will impose new sanctions against Russia, according to a statement published Friday.

The European Council also set conditions for the de-escalation.

"The European Council expects that by Monday 30 June the following steps will be taken: Agreement on a verification mechanism, monitored by the OSCE, for the ceasefire and for the effective control of the border; return to the Ukrainian authorities of the three border checkpoints (Izvarino, Dolzhanskiy, Krasnopartizansk); release of hostages including all of the OSCE observers; launch of substantial negotiations on the implementation of President [Petro] Poroshenko's peace plan," the statement reads.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russia cannot de-escalate the situation, because it is not involved in the situation between Ukraine and Eastern Ukraine in the first place!

The US and the EU escalated the situation by overthowing the legally elected President in Ukraine and replacing him in a political putsch.

And President Poroshenko, "the chocolate king"?

Please.

This guy is so crooked that he has to screw his socks on in the morning.

It appears to me that the logical conclusion to all of this will be a shooting war between the US, EU, and NATO on one side, and Russia (and perhaps China) on the other. Unfortunately, I see this situation escalating rapidly.

Yesterday, Moody's cut Russia's outlook to "negative", and economic sanctions have cut Russia's access to global financial capital, which may prove a strain on the country's economy.

And this will most probably go nuclear very quickly, because the EU/NATO/US alliance doesn't have the money, the manufacturing, or the troop strength to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia.

Bank Runs in Bulgaria

Now we have bank runs in Bulgaria. The entire fabric is coming undone and this is part of the fuel that sends everything into chaos and the risk of war as tensions rise and people blame someone else be it rich, foreigners, bankers, or corporations. This is the time where clear reasonable thinking and solutions become impossible.

The IMF is now urging the ECB to start buying government bonds of the member states. They have no solutions but the same old bad of tricks. There is nobody even capable of thinking out of the box in a position of power. EU wants stronger military industry

The European Commission on Tuesday (24 June) laid out plans on how to boost the EU’s military and defence industries.

It wants to create a single market on defence, make it more profitable, and intensify and merge research with the civil sector.

Antonio Tajani, the EU industry commissioner, said greater defence collaboration is needed between member states to enable the EU to “adequately face its security challenges”.

Tajani described the plan in terms of helping the EU pull itself out of the economic crisis.

“It is vital that the European defence industry remains a world-leading centre for manufacturing and innovation, creating highly qualified jobs and growth,” he said in a statement.

The commission says budget cuts, the crisis, and a fragmented internal market are threats to the industry and the EU’s overall defence capabilities.

It notes the sector in 2012 employed 400,000 people and generated a €96 billion turnover.

Import the law: EU to send Kosovo-style mission to Ukraine

“A political decision has been taken today to send a two-year mission. It will be created immediately and deployed in a short time,” Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius told journalists on Monday on the sideline of an EU ministerial meeting in Luxemburg.

The minister didn’t offer any detail on the number of European specialists to be sent to Ukraine or the scope of their authority.

The EU has experience with sending its officials to have an input on governance practices and reforms in places like Somalia, Congo or Mali. The biggest is the EULEX Kosovo mission, which is second only to Brussels in the number of EU civil servants serving in one place.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, the EU... is going to do to Ukraine what they have done in Kosovo?!?

Let's look at those results, shall we, as reported at refworld.org, and originally published by Human Rights Watch:

Human rights protection remains weak in Kosovo. Despite reforms, the justice system continues to have a large backlog. Ethnic minority communities, Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptians in particular, continue to suffer discrimination. Journalists and human rights defenders were subjected to threats and attacks during 2013. Justice system reform enacted in January restructured the courts in an attempt to address the years-long case backlog. A new criminal code also entered into force in January, without three contested provisions deemed to restrict media freedom. In the first nine months, EULEX judges handed down five war crimes judgments, reaching acquittals in all but one case. The September acquittal of Fatmir Limaj and nine others in a case concerning the 1998 mass murder of Serb and Albanian civilians in Klecka by Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) forces illustrates weaknesses in Kosovo's witness protection program and challenges to prosecute crimes committed during and after the war. Testimony from a key witness, found dead in a park in Germany in December 2012, in what police called a suicide, was first ruled inadmissible and then, in the retrial, contradictory and unreliable. In June, three men were sentenced to six, four, and three years respectively for beating and torturing Kosovo Albanian civilians illegally detained in the KLA Llapashtica detention center between 1998 and 1999. In October, the EULEX special prosecutor charged 15 people with war crimes against civilians and prisoners in 1998 at a KLA detention center in Likovac. Hundreds of cases are pending before the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office, the War Crimes Investigative Unit of the Kosovo Police, and EULEX. At time of writing, 13 arrest warrants were outstanding concerning Serbs who are believed to reside outside Kosovo. EULEX continues to investigate 94 war crimes cases from the 1998-1999 Kosovo war, including massacres in Meja, Dubrava, and Krusha thought to involve more than 1,000 victims. At the end of August, the Human Rights Review Panel (HRRP), an independent body set up in 2009 to review allegations of human rights violations by EULEX staff, handed down 15 decisions, finding violations in 5 cases. In the case concerning attacks by Kosovo Police and ethnic Albanians against Serbs during the 2012 Vidovdan Serbian religious holiday, the HRRP found that EULEX had failed to allocate adequate resources to provide protection or to conduct an effective investigation into allegations of human rights abuse. Freedom of Media Journalists continue to face a hostile environment. In May, a gas bomb was thrown into the house of the editor-in-chief of Radio Television of Kosovo, the public service broadcaster, causing damage but no injuries. Kosovo authorities condemned the attack and police were investigating. At time of writing, no arrests had been made. In June, a mixed panel of Kosovo and EULEX judges acquitted former Mayor of Skenderaj Sami Lushtaku; the former owner of Infopress, Rexhep Hoti; its former editor-in-chief, Avni Azemi; and two other journalists of threats against Jeta Xharra, the director of BIRN, a regional news group. The court held that the 12 news items where Infopress referred to Xharra as "a Serbian spy," and "embassy slut," in response to a BIRN TV program dealing with alleged mismanagement in Skenderaj where Lushtaku was mayor at the time, did not pose a threat to Xharra.

Cameron faces defeat in bid to thwart Juncker European presidency

David Cameron is to demand that fellow EU leaders explain their decision to back Jean-Claude Juncker as the next European Commission president this week after they appeared to give up on finding an alternative.

Downing Street made clear last night that the prime minister, angry at attempts to push a decision through in the face of UK opposition, will force an unprecedented vote at an EU summit on Friday and ask heads of government to explain why they are not willing to consider other names.

Establishment is Afraid of End The Fed Movement in Germany

Webmaster's Commentary:

Check out 4:40 where they report that the German media is declaring anyone opposed to private central banking is an anti-Semite! This is a repeat of an editorial we saw here in the US a few weeks back that claimed a desire to live free of debt was anti-Semitism, and a very angry email I received that "reminded" me that the Talmud says Hod gave the Jews all the money on Earth and the Goyim may only borrow it at interest!

IMF ready to ask ECB to begin quantitative easing

The managing director of the International Monetary Fund is expected to launch an appeal to the European Central Bank on Thursday, urging it to deal with deflationary risks by beginning a form of quantitative easing, the Financial Times newspaper reported.

That would include large purchases of sovereign bonds to stimulate growth, the newspaper said Wednesday, citing a draft of a statement from the IMF based on its annual evaluation of the eurozone’s economic health.

Russia can switch to payments with India, China in national currencies crushing dollar amid sanctions - experts

The European economy, experts point out, still remains in the grip of a crisis, while China, for example, is prosperous. The West, including the US, has begun to curtail the profitable relations with Russia on the background of Ukrainian problems, which has nothing to do with the East. And business always develops in the environment of stability and mutual interest. It is reasonable that at present the Russian economy – that is investments, exports, imports and technology – is speeding up its advance in the eastern direction, President of the Centre of Strategic Communications Dmitry Abzalov says. Instead of America and Europe, our target is South-East Asia now.

Europe Bracing Itself for Worst-Case Gas Scenario

In the wake of Russia's decision to switch Ukraine to prepayment for gas starting Monday, the European Union is planning a new round of negotiations as the danger of supply disruptions to Europe heightens.

European officials say, however, that the bloc is currently far better prepared to cope with shortages than it was back in 2009, when a dispute between Ukraine and Russia disrupted gas supplies to Europe.

"Much has changed [since 2009]. We did a lot to improve the security of gas supplies. There are interconnections between member states; we have more reverse flow options. It is easier to help each other if necessary," European Commission spokeswoman Sabine Berger said.

Europe on average depends on Russia to supply a third of its gas, half of which goes through Ukraine, so only 15 percent of EU supplies are endangered.

Protests banned as 120 snipers line up to protect Spanish crown

As Prince Felipe gets ready to be crowned the new King of Spain, two demonstrations and two concentrations planned for Thursday have been banned, thousands of extra police officers brought in and 120 snipers prepped to protect the ceremonial event.

It seems Spanish authorities are a tad nervous of demonstrations against the monarchy Thursday, when the new King Felipe VI is set to be crowned.

Having declared it illegal to hold any form of anti-monarchy protest or demonstration, the government will be deploying more than 6,700 police and civil guard officers in and around the area during the proceedings. They even had to import around 4,000 officers from around Spain to swell the ranks including the said 120 snipers.

President Barack Obama’s pledge of providing $1 billion to boost the US military presence in Eastern Europe is an “unnecessary and provocative action,” an American political commentator says.

EU presidential hopeful blind drunk on Europhilia?

The European Parliament is having a hissy fit about the new president of the European Commission. That job is currently held by Jose Manuel Barroso, the one-time Maoist who had a brief stint as Portuguese prime minister, delivering precisely none of the reforms the nation needed before its spectacular economic failure required a bailout. However, by that stage Barroso was one of the presidential crew on a handy US$30,000 per month. Provided he never says a bad word against the EU so long as he lives, he stands to get a rich pension too. Not bad for a career overseeing failure.

‘Pastafarians’ fail to win official religious recognition in Austria

Pastafarianism, a movement set up partly to ridicule organised religion, has failed to win official recognition from Austria's religious authority.

The Kultusamt authority ruled Wednesday that the "Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster" was not a proper "Church" because it is not a Christian religious community.

The organisation was founded in the United States to poke fun at religious dogma and to campaign against the teaching of creationism in schools, and now has chapters in several other countries.

US quietly sending in elite military units to train former Soviet bloc states amid annexation of Crimea

As the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) refocuses on its eastern borders after Russia’s annexation of Crimea, the US is quietly deploying more troops to train special forces in former Soviet bloc states anxious about Moscow’s intentions.

Major exercises began last month in Poland, Slovakia and the Baltic states of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia involving several hundred personnel from US special forces, the US European Command (Eucom) said.

Long-term plans include further training drills that will consistently keep about 100 US elite troops on the ground at any one time in Nato states close to Russia, with teams working in several countries, US officials said.

The events in eastern Ukraine, where Russian-speaking insurgents using sophisticated weapons threaten to split the country, have put the whole former Soviet bloc region on alert and eager for Nato reassurance.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, for the umpteenth time: Russia did not annex Crimea; Crimea voted to rejoin to Russia, in what was characterized by international observers, as a a free and fair election. They did this after the legitimately elected government of Ukraine was thrown out by a Western-sponsored putsch.

The word "annexation" is disingenuous in the extreme here.

What NATO and the West are attempting to do is to provoke Russia militarily, in order to start a hot war, not a cold war, against it. The reasons are to insure the supremacy of the US petrodollar (which is already crumbling against a reasonably mre stable ruble and yuan).

I would like to politely point out that when it has come to Afghanistan, the US and NATO have been impotent to stop the violence, and Afghanistan is a very poorly developed country, and that war has been 13 years in duration.

What deeply concerns me about the "thinking" generating these actions is that neither the US nor NATO have the capability of insuring a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia; and that is where the military scenario gets scarily dangerous.

I would very strongly caution the leadership in both NATO and DC to be very, very careful about what they wish for as an outcome here; the unintended consequences could be both horrific...and impossible to correct.

GMO floodgate to open? EU ministers back deal to let nations decide fate of crops

European Union governments have decided to let member states go their own way when it comes to genetically modified organisms (GMOs), allowing EU nations to either ban the crops or grow them as they see fit. The move ends years of legislative deadlock.

Russia launches Baltic drills alongside NATO Saber Strike war games

Tanks, troops, jets: NATO countries launch full-scale war games in Baltic

The latest statements from the US European Command (EUCOM) once again prove that Washington is using the crisis in Ukraine to revitalize the NATO alliance and bolster its military presence in Europe in order to tie it to the US.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, Russia's President Putin is about 12 chess-games ahead of the thinking of the Obama administration on this.

Russia doesn't need to do anything militarily to destroy the US.

All that has to happen is for Russia, China, and the BRIC nations to simultaneously drop the dollar for any of their business transactions, and the big, fat, sucking sound you would be hearing would be that of the American economy going right down the proverbial tubes.

And any thinking in DC that we could win a conventional war against Russia (which is what the US government appears to want to provoke by its actions), needs to be met with some very grave assessments of precisely where the US military is in this part of the 21st century. And the cold, hard reality here is, the US doesn't have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia; and this is what makes the military scenario here so scarily dangerous.

Defying Russian warnings, Moldova and Georgia head for EU pact

Undeterred by the conflict triggered by Ukraine’s swing towards Europe, the former Soviet republics of Moldova and Georgia will sign a trade and political pact with the European Union this month with Russia warning both countries against the move.

The two small countries – Moldova has a population of just over 3.5 million and Georgia 4.5 million – see the signing of an association agreement as the crucial step towards mainstream Europe, leading to eventual membership of the powerful EU trading bloc.

But, as has been shown by their regional neighbour Ukraine, Russia sees their westward move further away from Moscow’s sphere of influence as a geo-political setback that could threaten its markets too.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, guys: let's get this straight: Russia did not annex Crimea. Crimea requested to be reunited with Russia when the duly elected Ukrainian government was thrown out in a putsch, and this was done in a referendum which was considered free and fair: Russia did absolutely nothing wrong here.

And a short memo to whoever characterized Russia in this manner with this article: the big lie no longer works. Just please ask Colin Powell about Saddam's "weapons of mass destruction."

WEBMASTER ADDITION: Only days ago it was reported that the US sent "foreign aid" to (meaning a bribe to the leaders of) Moldova ($8 million) and Georgia ($5 million).

NATO using Ukraine to syphon more money from EU

In the end of the day, it’s all business.

NATO’s Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen wants European leaders to spend more on defense, but Germany, France and the UK are keeping their grip tight, Deutsche Welle reads.

“We live in a different world than we did less than a month ago,” Fogh Rasmussen told a Brookings Institution forum in March.

“Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine is in blatant breach of its international commitments and it is a violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This is a wakeup call for the Euro-Atlantic community, for NATO, and for all those committed to a Europe whole, free and at peace.”

What he wanted was to make the NATO member states reconsider their defense budgets, as there have been gloomy warnings that the Alliance is unprepared for Russian ‘aggression’.

Webmaster's Commentary:

At the end of the day, this looks like a NATO shake-down of Europe for more money.

And that concept of "Russian aggression"?!?!?

Please, give me a break!!

Ukraine was taken over by an illegal putsch against the legally elected government; yes, a government so collectively crooked, that it had to screw its socks on in the morning, BUT legally elected.

Crimea, a traditionally Russian-centric area which had been taken over by Ukraine under the time of Khrushchev, had what was considered by all observers, a free and fair election, in order to realign with Russia.

Russia did nothing wrong: the people of Crimea exercised peaceful self-determination in this election.

You cannot have this both ways. Isn't peaceful self-determination supposed to be a value that we are supposed to respect and applaud?!?

I mean, I am just asking, folks!!!!

Stockman - The Military Industrial Complex & Total Collapse

Eric King: "If the fighting continues in Ukraine, is it just going to continue to be a stalemate over there?"

Stockman: "It could well devolve into a full-fledged civil war, and that would be really unfortunate for the people. ... That is the result of the constitutional and political crisis that was provoked last November and December, not by Putin and the Russians, but by the (U.S.) State Department and the CIA and the so-called non-governmental organizations that are swarming all over eastern Europe trying to stir up trouble. It’s an indication that what I call the military-industrial complex, this warfare state with all the spy agencies and this massive war machine that we have, is a dangerous thing to keep in being. We don’t need it. It should be demobilized. It should be dramatically reduced so that the people who operate it aren’t tempted to start stirring up trouble."

More jets and warships: US increasing military presence in Black Sea

Following President Obama’s commitment of $1 billion to expand NATO’s role in Eastern Europe, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced on Thursday that the United States will be bolstering its presence in the Black Sea region.

Hagel is currently swinging through Romania, a NATO member that has urged the US to increase its presence in Eastern Europe in the wake of the Ukraine conflict and Russia’s accession of Crimea. Since then, the country has been a part of joint military exercises with American forces and has promised to increase its own defense spending.

While the plan earned the praise of Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, Russia criticized NATO for boosting its presence near its borders and argued the group is also responsible for unrest in Ukraine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Bruschko is absolutely correct here; and it appears that the US and NATO want to goad Russia into making the first move.

Putin is waaay to smart to do this, but don't discount the possibility of a NATO/US false flag to be blamed on Russia as the "excuse" to kick off the war here.

NATO’s Military Encirclement of Russia: Obama escalates NATO Confrontation with Russia

President Barack Obama unveiled in Poland Tuesday a new $1 billion initiative aimed at ratcheting up NATO’s military encirclement of Russia and preparing for a direct armed conflict between the two nuclear-armed powers.

In other words, the Obama administration is embarking on a reckless drive to encircle and militarily intimidate Russia and China simultaneously.

Speaking in Warsaw’s Belweder Palace Tuesday, Obama also said that the $1 billion program would be used by the US to “preposition more equipment in Europe” in preparation for military conflict.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Obama's threats of NATO military conflict against Russia has his resources, in terms of troop strength, manufacturing, and money, writing checks he cannot cash.

The last thing the US needs right now is a war with either Russia and/or China; unfortunately, this Administration has this country running, at warp speed, to war with both countries.

Putin and Xi-Ping understand, however, that there is a way to avoid this war, and crash the US economy: and that would be for the BRIC nations do a full dropping of any of their dollar holdings, and not doing any transactions using the US dollar at all.

ECB cuts deposit rate below zero in historic move

The European Central Bank lowered its deposit rate to -0.10% as the continent battles deflation after many failed monetary policy attempts.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When you have money in a bank savings account, and the interest paid on that account is lower than the rate of inflation, you are losing real value and purchasing power even if the balance seems to be growing. Many people are seduced by the growing numbers and keep their money in that savings account even though they are suffering real economic losses.

Now things have changed. The longer you keep your money in those European savings accounts, the smaller the balance will be. The EU will likely impose capital controls to prevent bank runs as savers close their accounts and convert the funds into physical silver and gold.

The reason there are so many "failed monetary policy attempts" is that nobody wants to acknowledge the deep dark secret of private central banking. Which is that when you allow a privately-owned central bank to issue all of the public currency as a loan at interest, the debt grows faster than the available money supply. More money is owed to that privately-owned central bank than actually exists. This is a deliberately designed system to trap a nation and its people in unpayable debt, to enslave them to the will of the bankers, and over time, through the process of defaults, transfer the hard assets of the nation and the people into the pockets of the bankers through "Austerity" and "privatization." And all the bankers needed to pull off this scam was paper, ink, and typing numbers into a computer keyboard! But no government dares admit to their people that the banking system they are forced to use is a deliberate tool of enslavement. So they attempt "policies" to make it look like they are trying to fix the problem, but without addressing the root cause.

Britain offers tanks and 1,000 troops for Nato show of strength against Putin

Britain has offered NATO an armoured battle group including up to 25 tanks to join exercises in Poland as a show of force against Vladimir Putin.

The deployment would see as many as 1,000 British soldiers join Nato forces for war games across the border from Ukraine later this year.

The offer was disclosed as David Cameron prepares to meet the Russian president on Thursday and wrangling over the Ukraine crisis seems certain to dominate world leaders’ visits to the D-Day anniversary events.

The diplomatic storm over Ukraine continued as Barack Obama condemned Moscow’s “dark tactics”, while Mr Putin hit back against American aggression.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These "war games" by NATO appear to be the prelude to a shooting war against Russia.

Just because a war against Russia would be the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly wrong thing to do to in response to Putin's accepting Crimea's request to align with Russia after the Ukrainian putsch, is absolutely no guarantee that NATO, Europe, and the US won't do it.

NATO, the US, and the West, is encircling Russia in a geopolitical/military vice-grip. And if, once there are US and NATO troops on the ground in Ukraine (and I wouldn't bet against it even right right now), Moscow may feel compelled to respond militarily in kind.

It would not take much to get the fires of war stoked here; one tiny miscommunication; one tiny misperception, and things could escalate completely out of control.

I would like to hope that the adults in the room in Europe, the US, and NATO think very soberly about what their next move should be.
