Hillary Clinton’s BlackBerry

Hillary Clinton doesn’t like to answer tough questions. In fact, she doesn’t like to be questioned at all about anything. For many years a compliant news media has allowed her to escape scrutiny. But times are changing.

‘Liar, Dishonest’ Most Used to Describe Hillary

The most frequent words that come to mind when Americans think about Hillary Clinton are “liar” and “dishonest.” That’s according to a new national poll from Quinnipiac that asked more than 1500 registered voters to say the “first word” that comes to mind when they hear the Democratic presidential frontrunner’s name.

Black, Gay Reporter Murders Straight, White Journalists on LIVE TV… Mainstream Media Blames the Gun

Williams’ violence is part of a larger trend, not of black men killing white people (that still happens disproportionately, but the numbers are down), but of black men using supposed American racism as a rationale for violence more generally, and of gay people using supposed American homophobia as a rationale for violation of others’ rights.

Why did Obama nationalize the U.S. food supply with executive order 13603?

It’s not clear what enforcement mechanisms would be employed by the administration should the president declare a national emergency and order stockpiled food confiscated, but such a scenario is unsettling on many levels. Not only would families be disrupted and immediately dependent upon federal, state and local agencies for subsidence, but there very likely would be violence directed toward any government agency or military unit instructed to confiscate private food stores.

Lies You Will Hear As The Economic Collapse Progresses

It is undeniable; the final collapse triggers are upon us, triggers alternative economists have been warning about since the initial implosion of 2008. In the years since the derivatives disaster, there has been no end to the absurd and ludicrous propaganda coming out of mainstream financial outlets and as the situation in markets becomes worse, the propaganda will only increase. This might seem counter-intuitive to many. You would think that the more obvious the economic collapse becomes, the more alternative analysts will be vindicated and the more awake and aware the average person will be. Not necessarily…

There are still people warning us of sleepwalking into a Stasi or “1984” society. They missed the boat by a long shot: we are already far, far past the point of Stasi or “1984”. The apparatus that governments have built to trace, track, and record citizens is the stuff of nightmares.

Responsibility to Destroy” (R2D): Total War in Yemen, Humanitarian Catastrophe, Ignored by Western Media

After NATO’s attempt to invoke the “responsibility to protect” (R2P) as justification for the destruction of Libya, it became clear that NATO was merely hiding behind the principles of humanitarian concern, not upholding them. And while it may be difficult to believe, there are still those across the Western media and policy think-tanks attempting to use R2P to justify further military aggression against nations like Syria.

However, R2P is conveniently absent amid what little talk of Yemen that does take place in the Western media. US-backed blockades and months of aerial bombardments have tipped Yemen toward a humanitarian catastrophe. Not only does both the UN and the West fail to demand an end to the bombings and blockades, the West has continued to underwrite Saudi Arabia and the UAE’s military adventure in Yemen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

All I can think of, upon reading this article, is the old Pogo cartoon, with the caption: "I have met the enemy and he...is us!"

It is high time the American people collectively awoke up from their slumber, to understand, and realize the significance of the reality, that in global geopolitics, the US government is no longer "the good guy" anymore.

The pain the leadership of this country has inflicted for decades upon the rest of the world, for private profit, has been, and continues to be, monumental, and so morally wrong that I don't know where to begin.

But there's an interesting Biblical saying; "That which you sew, you shall also reap". This country's leadership has been sewing wars, repression, and the deaths of hapless thousands of innocents who never did a thing to hurt this country.

One doesn't have to be Fellini to figure out what the ultimate repercussions may well be of these policies, and how they may affect each and everyone of us in this country.

Who rules America?

In defense of his violations of the Constitution, which he is his sworn to defend, Obama insists that Congress has been consulted and has given its approval. That is true. He also points accurately to the sanction provided by the courts.
Yet everyone knows that the American people have never been consulted and have been lied to and kept in the dark about the destruction of their democratic rights. Even the term “bourgeois democracy” becomes something of a misnomer for a political system in which the threadbare trappings of popular sovereignty are so wholly contradicted by the realities of political life.

Webmaster's Commentary:

But if there is one small stray ray of sunshine is, that people are tuning out to the mass media, because they have tired of being lied to, so consistently and flagrantly.

They are reading blogs like this one, and understand that they have the logical abilities to think critically for themselves, and come to their own conclusions.

The Fourth Estate's "feet of clay", in terms of their ability to hold and mold public opinion to support the Government's narrative, is crumbling, and fast.

Centcom Defends Skewing ISIS War Intel

While most of the Pentagon is going out of its way to avoid comment on yesterday’s revelation of an ongoing inspectors general investigation into deliberate “skewing” of intelligence assessments on the ISIS war by Centcom, the Central Command itself is defiant, insisting that it acted entirely appropriately in its reports.

In their new statement, Centcom insisted that just because they sought “feedback” from sources like the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) didn’t mean they had to include their comments in the final assessment sent on to policy makers, and that they, as the “primary agency” in the war, get to decide what does or doesn’t get sent on.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Lying to both one's peers and the American public, is now the "new normal" for the Federal Government, which is why thinking Americans don't believe anything the Federal Government says anymore.

ISIS appears to have been concocted and protected by the very US government which condemns its acts today, and appears to be yet another "manufactured excuse" for again putting US troops in harm's way on the ground in Iraq, Libya, and ultimately Syria.

And this is the same US government, claiming that yet another incursion into these countries will be "successful this time"?!?

I am looking at the epic fail which was the invasion and occupation of Iraq; I am looking at the epic, on-going fail which is Afghanistan; and the epic fail of the invasion of Libya, and the extrajudicial assassination of its President, Ghadaffi, which has left the country in chaos; I am looking at the on-going epic fail of the US government-enabled Saudi invasion of Yemen. I am looking at a potential US ground invasion of Syria to oust Al-Assad, which may well invite war with Russia.

And the only logical explanation for the collective war madness which has engulfed the US Federal Government is that they want some war - any war - upon which to blame a coming national economic catastrophe of unimaginable proportions.

As to US government appears to be comprised of people who, collectively, can never take responsibility for anything they have done, this seems an absolutely reasonable scenario, no matter how much hurt they cause to the people of this country, and beyond, in their war lust.

NORTH DAKOTA BECOMES FIRST STATE TO LEGALIZE DRONES WEAPONIZED WITH TASERS, TEAR GAS, RUBBER BULLETS & SOUND CANONS

t is now legal for law enforcement in North Dakota to fly drones armed with everything from Tasers to tear gas thanks to a last-minute push by a pro-police lobbyist.

With all the concern over the militarization of police in the past year, no one noticed that the state became the first in the union to allow police to equip drones with “less than lethal” weapons. House Bill 1328 wasn’t drafted that way, but then a lobbyist representing law enforcement—tight with a booming drone industry—got his hands on it.

– From the Daily Beast article: First State Legalizes Taser Drones for Cops, Thanks to a Lobbyist

You could see the writing on the walls years ago. In an increasingly authoritarian, lawless, surveillance state like America, it was always inevitable that drones would be weaponized. In North Dakota, this is now a reality.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have frequently speculated that if President Obama sees utterly no legal hurdle to extrajudicial assassinations of "people who need killin' " overseas, how far a leap would it be to order extrajudicial assassinations here at home?!?

Unfortunately, it is not that great a leap, seeing how Obama loves to have his way via Executive Order, and accomplish his agenda without any Congressional oversight whatsoever.

And to all North Dakotans, I have one four-letter response to this travesty; move.

Move to another state which has not yet been collectively made mad by the evil genius of this technology, and the promise of suppression, cruelty and death it holds.

FEDS GO DOOR-TO-DOOR TO INFORM GUN OWNERS RIGHTS NOT ABSOLUTE

By criminalizing individuals 2nd Amendment right to defend themselves, government exempts itself from its own rules and faces no repercussions.

This is certainly the case in victim disarmament areas like school zones where only magical costumes and shinny badges grant one the legal right to carry a firearm – consequently making schools a prime target for mass shootings.

Government revels in the idea of asserting itself over the population – so it is no surprise that a joint initiative launched in New Orleans is doing just that as the ATF, New Orleans Police Department and the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office go door-to-door across the metro area informing gun owners that they have no rights in school zones.

“Federal law makes it an offense to possess a firearm within a 1,000 feet of a school,” U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite, who joined in the ridiculous display of hubris, said. “So we wanted to get the word out to the community about this work.”

ON THE TAKE: PRIVATE PRISON FIRMS ARE BUYING ACCESS TO PUBLIC OFFICIALS AT LAVISH CONFERENCES

The prison industry in the United States has grown so large that there are no less than seven professional associations for people who work at prisons and jails. The industry conferences held by these associations provide a perfect venue for private corrections companies to influence government officials with little public oversight, according to a recent report by the watchdog group In The Public Interest(ITPI).

The biggest names in the prison business spend millions of dollars sponsoring these conferences and wooing prison officials with free massages, awards ceremonies, luxury dinner cruises and plenty of corporate schwag. Over the past week, one of the most prominent associations, the American Correctional Association (ACA), held its summer conference in Indianapolis, where major sponsors included private prison companies Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), GEO Group and food services giant Aramark.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These private prisons are gulags of the worst order, and by the time an inmate has served his time (if he hasn't died of complications of untreated medical issues), chances are that he emerges from these prisons far worse off than he was when he came in, and will re-offend shortly, which is music to the ears of private prison owners.

Oh, and by the way; any attempts at rehabilitation are few and far between.

Sweden is closing many of its prisons, because they don't have enough prisoners to fill them.

And why?!?

Because the full focus of prison in Sweden is rehabilitation, to the point where those serving their time become fully integrated into society once they have served their time.

Another Edition of Police State or Back to the Middle Ages

In the recent years, a trend towards a narrowing of the sphere of individual freedoms has been observed throughout the world. At the same time, we see the expansion of sovereign freedoms — the sphere where government allows itself to interfere with a citizen's private life. Despite a widely declared commitment to the liberal values and multiple attempts of Western countries to force "authoritarian" rulers to respect human rights using various types of sanctions, the modern liberal state has so far failed in clearing itself of charges of regular violations of human rights and double standards. The problem is that rationality as a key liberal principle may be directed not only towards freedom and progress but also towards control for the sake of progress and, in the worst case, control for the sake of control. As a result, instead of liberal, creative and unfettered individuals we may obtain a sort of "ant colony state" — a community of inert, disengaged and totally controlled masses.

Man Has No Regrets After Arrest For Tampering With Long Island Red-Light Cameras

A 42-year-old Centereach man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he tampered with red-light cameras in Ronkonkoma, pointing them upwards so that they would not capture violators, but Stephen Ruth certainly isn’t apologizing.

Mystery Surrounding the Malaysian Airlines MH17 Crash: US Attempts to Frame Russia

The Insidious Relationship between The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Big Pharma

I’ve been writing and speaking about dangerous medical drugs for almost 30 years, and I haven’t seen any limits placed on the basic FDA-Pharma partnership. This isn’t case of seeing a) government or b) corporations as the basic criminal. They’re both criminals, in collaboration with each other.

In a half-sane society, the big drug companies would have been prosecuted to the sky long ago. Their charters to do business in any state would have been revoked. Their CEOs, executives, and scientists would have been put behind bars for life. Even a limited federal government would have done that.

Here is where I’m in accord with Libertarians: people have the right and the freedom to refuse medication, under any circumstances, even where the experts claim death will be the inevitable outcome. And people have the right to ingest any compounds they decide might help them.

Never Forget: The Central Banks Have Engineered This Collapse

snip: It is the central banks that have created this mess, and what’s more they have created this mess in the full knowledge that their actions would lead to disaster. And now, one can be sure, the same central bankers and their political puppet mouthpieces will use this crisis to continue the construction of the “New World Order” that they called for in the wake of the 2008 collapse.

Anyone who can’t see the endgame now–global government by the bankers, of the bankers and for the bankers–is either blind or willfully ignorant.

Never Forget: The Central Banks Have Engineered This Collapse

OK, enough sarcasm. Readers of this column will know by now that the phoney baloney stock markets, manipulated as they are from top to bottom and juiced as they are on the Fed’s QE heroin, are no longer reflective of economic reality. The only question is how far this particular dead cat market will bounce, and whether it will be helped along with more heroin from the Fed.

But there is already one vitally important take away from these events that the independent media must articulate now, before it’s too late. Namely: This crisis was engineered by the central banks. It is their fault.

Let me repeat that again in case you missed it: This crisis was engineered by the central banks.

Saudi Arabia Beheads Nearly Twice As Many People As ISIS So Far This Year

In January, a Muslim woman from Myanmar screamed “I did not kill” and pled with her attackers for mercy, but they showed none. In the center of an intersection, she was publicly beheaded in front of spectators, her death caught covertly on video.

It’s the kind of horrifying tableau that has become almost commonplace in Western media, as it plays out each time ISIS claims its latest victims. But this woman, Laila Bint Abdul Muttalib Basim, wasn’t a victim of ISIS, but one of 110 prisoners executed by Saudi Arabia so far this year. In fact, this U.S. ally has beheaded almost twice as many prisoners as ISIS in 2015 and may be on pace to achieve a record-breaking number of executions.

Iran’s PressTV reported on Basim’s death along with several others, both foreigners and Saudi nationals, in July:

“Basim then screamed as a sword-wielding man struck her neck. Second and third blows completed the beheading and authorities swiftly removed her body from the road.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

When human rights gets in the way of "doing business", the US government has a very ugly, and consistent, habit of turning a blind eye, as they have with Saudi Arabia.

New Defense Department Manual Allows Journalists To Be Held As 'Unprivileged Belligerents'

New Defense Department guidelines allow commanders to punish journalists and treat them as "unprivileged belligerents" if they believe journalists are sympathizing or cooperating with the enemy.

The Law of War manual, updated to apply for the first time to all branches of the military, contains a vaguely worded provision that military commanders could interpret broadly, experts in military law and journalism say. Commanders could ask journalists to leave military bases or detain journalists for any number of perceived offenses.

"In general, journalists are civilians," the 1,180 page manual says, but it adds that "journalists may be members of the armed forces, persons authorized to accompany the armed forces, or unprivileged belligerents."

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is so anti-First Amendment, and such a sickeningly "slippery slope" when it comes to persecuting reporters for perhaps telling the truth, rather than providing a cover for recruiting "militants", I hardly know where to begin, and I hope that it gets challenged, and immediately, all the bloody way up to the Supreme Court.

And to anyone in the DOD who might not know; I am a Methodist and Christian pacifist. That means that I never, EVER advocate violence; I advocate logic and and thoughtful response to resolving a problem.

So then, if I calmly point out a moment in the thinking of this government that is illogical, and both ham-fistedly and pig-headedly wrong, in terms of this government actually doing right by the people it allegedly represents, does that make me a "terrorist"?!?

Apparently, according to the DOD, the answer is yes.

Welcome to 21st century Amerika, my friends, where logic and truth ....have become criminalized.

At 66, I do not recognise the United States of America anymore, and that is a very painful realization for someone who very much cares about her country.

TPP sceptics won't halt deal - Groser

Trade Minister says 'extreme claims' by ideological opponents wide of the mark.

Trade Minister Tim Groser has lashed out at public opposition to the Trans Pacific Partnership, saying he won't let "anti-trade forces" stand in the way of the contentious deal.

Speaking to Southeast Asian and New Zealand entrepreneurs at a summit in Kuala Lumpur, he said resistance to the TPP was deeply ideological and extreme claims were being made, including that it would lead to the end of democracy.

"I mean, really?" Groser said. "It is a mixture of a set of deeply ideological opponents to the use of markets ... [who] focus on trade liberalisation to express a deeply ideological view that is the antithesis of all countries' practical experience over the last 40 years."

Thousands of people took part in anti-TPP demonstrations across New Zealand this month.

Group sparks country's biggest rates rebellion

Note: I kept emailing the Council to show me the legality of the rates but was always sent a BS reply. They knew that the rates were not legal at the time. 'Secret court' provision alarms Law Society

A late change to health and safety legislation will allow use of so-called "secret courts" - and that should concern New Zealanders, the Law Society says.

A last-minute addition to the controversial health and safety reforms currently progressing through Parliament has alarmed the Law Society.

The changes would allow court hearings to be held in secret, in order to protect national security. The Crown could introduce secret evidence, which would not be seen by the defendant or their legal team.

The Law Society said the provisions would allow a person to be tried and convicted of a criminal offence without seeing all the evidence against them, and without the right to be present during all proceedings.

It has written to Workplace Relations and Safety Minister Michael Woodhouse to protest that the provisions should not have been inserted at such a late stage.

FLASHBACK 2005 - 'The Chosen': Getting In

A few years ago, I wrote a book about the rise of a new educated class, the people with 60's values and 90's money who go to Starbucks, shop at Whole Foods and drive Volvos. A woman came up to me after one of my book talks and said, "You realize what you're talking about is the Jews taking over America."

My eyes bugged out, but then I realized that she was Jewish and she knew I was, too, and between us we could acknowledge there's a lot of truth in that statement. For the Jews were the vanguard of a social movement that over the course of the 20th century transformed the American university system and the nature of the American elite.

Police brutality against blacks a result of Israeli training: Analyst

US police treat African Americans the way Israel oppresses Palestinians as American law enforcement officers receive training in Israel, says an analyst.

More than a thousand African-American activists have expressed solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and announced that they would join the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) global campaign against Israel.

In a recent letter, they “reaffirmed solidarity with the Palestinian struggle and commitment to the liberation of Palestine’s land and people,” Russia Today reported.

“Israel’s widespread use of detention and imprisonment against Palestinians evokes the mass incarceration of Black people in the US, including the political imprisonment of our own revolutionaries,” the letter reads.

Senior civil rights activists, such as scholars Cornel West and Angela Davis, and Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, signed the document.

UK surveillance “worse than 1984,” says new UN privacy chief

The newly appointed UN special rapporteur on privacy, Joseph Cannataci, has called the UK's oversight of surveillance "a rather bad joke at its citizens’ expense," and said that the situation regarding privacy is "worse" than anything George Orwell imagined in his novel 1984. Speaking to The Guardian, Cannataci said: "at least Winston [a character in Orwell's 1984] was able to go out in the countryside and go under a tree and expect there wouldn’t be any screen, as it was called. Whereas today there are many parts of the English countryside where there are more cameras than George Orwell could ever have imagined. So the situation in some cases is far worse already."

Cannataci is also concerned about the routine surveillance carried out by Internet companies as a key part of their business model. "They just went out and created a model where people’s data has become the new currency," he said.

Banksterism 101: Banks Get Credit for Helping the Poor — By Financing Their Evictions?

In 1977, Congress wanted to make sure commercial banks fulfilled their commitment to serve all communities in America, regardless of income level. “A public charter conveys numerous economic benefits,” said William Proxmire, then head of the Senate Banking Committee, “and in return it is legitimate for public policy and regulatory practice to require some public purpose.” Under the Community Reinvestment Act, banks are periodically examined for how well they provide lending and investment to low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods where they take deposits. Since its enactment, 97 percent of all banks examined have received a “Satisfactory” or “Outstanding” grade, according to the Congressional Research Service.

More than Forty Percent of American Children Are Living in Poverty

A January 2015 report from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health reveals that forty four percent of children (those under 18) are living in de facto poverty. The Federal Government issues an artificially low annual official poverty level that radically understates the real level of US poverty. For 2015 the official level of poverty for a family of four, for example, is roughly an income $24,000 a year or less. This is for a family with 2 adults and 2 children.

The government likes to make a distinction between “poor” and “low income” but this is just a semantic game to try and hide the true level of economic deprivation Washington is willing to inflict on millions of children in order to avoid comprehensive welfare reform and realistic taxation polices directed at Wall Street and the 1 percent.

The Neoconservative Empire Returns

Everyone knows the basics of the dispute over the nuclear deal with Iran. In no time at all, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leaped directly into the American political arena to take potshots at that agreement in a way that, had any other world leader acted similarly, would have been denounced across the political spectrum. And he did so backed not only by his own party and government but by established opinion makers in Israel, all of whom are deeply convinced that the deal is neither reasonable nor in Israel’s best interests.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A war against Iran will most likely invite a war with Russia, coming to Iran's aid militarily.

The US military does not have the money, the troop strength, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome in a war against Russia, and that is what makes a war against Iran so scarily dangerous.

There are times when the interests of Israel and the US do align; the issue of the treaty with Iran is not one of those times.

And of course, the Israeli government wants the US to fight this war for them; that means it will be Americans in our military who will fight, die, and get maimed for life in a war to protect Israel's best interests.

Is this the highest and best use of US the US military?!? Absolutely not.

Hundreds of migrants cross border unhindered from Greece into Macedonia - video

Hundreds of migrants cross from Greece into Macedonia on Sunday after Macedonian security forces appeared to abandon a bid to seal the border, following days of confrontation. Large groups of migrants can be seen walking across the border to Gevgelija train stations where they wait to board trains northwards to Serbia. Macedonia had declared a state of emergency on Thursday and sealed its southern frontier, using riot police and tear gas in an attempt to drive back crowds, but the police lines were overwhelmed on Saturday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Guardian gives absolutely zero context is to why this is happening.

I watched some clips of what what going on in Macedonia on Al-Jazeera television on Saturday.

Most of these people are war-displaced Syrians, desperately trying to get into Europe to achieve some kind of refugee status.

The Macedonian police were beating men with clubs, and throwing flash-bang grenades at the feet of mothers with toddlers in their arms.

The US government, redoubling its efforts to oust Bashir Al-Assad, is specifically responsible for this massive human tidal wave of misery, but will, of course, do absolutely nothing to help these people.

They are, to this government, simply "collateral damage",because they did not have the collective good taste to die outright in their country of origin.

Just looking at the faces of those parents, kids and toddlers, with all the trauma they have had to endure, nearly made me cry, and I think it would have done the same for all decent people of conscience.

This is a pogrom against people of the Middle East and Africa, because they have the nerve to be living on resources - or near potential pipeline routes - the US government wants for itself, and to insure that payments for those resources are only doe with US dollars.

DHS KEPT SECRET THE RELEASE OF VIOLENT CRIMINAL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

Obama administration officials only began notifying local law enforcement officials of the release of violent criminal illegal immigrants within the last two weeks, according to Arizona law enforcement officials, who say they have for years been kept in the dark about the release of illegal immigrants back into local towns.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had been keeping secret its release of illegal immigrants with violent criminal records from local law enforcement for at least two years, denying for a time that this was taking place, law enforcement officials disclosed to the Washington Free Beacon.

The public disclosure of this practice, in which Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) frees criminal illegal immigrants back into U.S. communities, came to light earlier this week, when Arizona law enforcement was made aware that three illegal aliens with violent criminal records had been released back onto the streets.

TPP Stumbles, Puts Sovereignty at Grave Risk

A funny thing happened on the way to global governance. Just when the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) was supposed to move one step closer to world corporatocracy, it stumbled over nationalism and fell. It may soon rise up again—all too soon—but the world’s plutocrats took a pace backward in failing to reach agreement on the final text of the proposed “free trade” treaty at the end of July in Lahaina, Hawaii.

The TPP is meant to bind irrevocably the 11 largest non-United States economies around the Pacific rim, except China, to U.S. hegemony. But despite super secrecy and some 650 U.S. government shills for Big Business—plus 150 reporters and hundreds of lobbyists euphemistically called “stakeholders”—the internationalists were unable to leap key hurdles in their race to control mankind.

We Are All Terror Suspects Under the FBI’s Communities Against Terrorism Program

“Using cash for large transactions” is another no, no. But my credit card was stolen the other day at the restaurant and so now I pay in cash. I hope that has not been made illegal by Congress. But if I purchase a home entertainment system, etc., for cash, am I to be reported to the FBI for such a large transaction by the young person behind the cash register who wants to prove he or she is a loyal citizen?

Always paying in cash at an internet café is clear evidence of a suspected terrorist, we are told. Especially if you are a Comcast or AOL subscriber or believe in privacy and do not allow anyone to look over your shoulder to read what you have on your screen. And do not read the New York Times on line there because you can be reported for focusing too much on terrorist attacks. So what if the Times reports such things almost daily worldwide? The police have nothing more important to do than check out what you are reading in the paper, according to the FBI.

We can also mention that there were no torpedoes in the Gulf of Tonkin, there was no Spanish mine in Havana harbor, Pearl Harbor was NOT a surprise, the Lusitania WAS carrying weapons, or any of the other hundred lies used to sell wars to those who bleed for them.

Blighted houses still mar New Orleans a decade after Katrina

From the hardscrabble Lower Ninth Ward to middle-class Gentilly, thousands of abandoned homes still litter neighborhoods in New Orleans, a glaring reminder of the mass exodus of residents that followed Hurricane Katrina in 2005.A decade after the storm triggered flooding that damaged 70 percent of the city's housing stock, the most-blighted streets in town are still lined with boarded-up houses that pose safety hazards to residents who have repaired and rebuilt homes nearby. In the Lower Ninth Ward in particular, a 10-minute drive from the jazz clubs and bar of New Orleans' historic downtown, large swaths of vacant houses and overgrown lots shelter rodents and snakes amid pockets of recovery where entire blocks of dwellings have been renovated.

Residents complain the areas are not safe for children to play and that abandoned housing invites the illegal drug trade and other criminal activity, hampering further recovery.

Flashback: U.S. Bishops condemned U.S. Government, G.W. Bush & Vaccine Makers for "use of tissue from induced abortions for vaccine development & research"

Yes, Planned Parenthood IS Awful, But Why Isn't Everyone Up In Arms About Dead Babies in Vaccines? A few years ago the U.S. Conference of Catholic admonished the U.S. Government, G.W. Bush & Vaccine Makers for "use of tissue from induced abortions for vaccine development & research." The official statement remains on their website to this day.

The whole country, in particular the right wing, is currently obsessed with the scandal of Planned Parenthood brazenly selling aborted baby parts. And while that is indeed an evil and horrific scandal, it has been going on for years, and there's many equally evil things that the U.S. government and vaccine manufacturers are doing.

Nebraska Teachers Sign Pledge Promising To Propagandize Students

Hastings School District in Nebraska recently caught the attention of the ACLU by forcing teachers to sign a pledge promising to propagandize children with nationalistic propaganda.
The pledge demanded that teachers mold students to have “love and devotion” for the U.S. government, giving a glimpse into the true motive of government education.

The issue was quickly noticed by the ACLU, which deemed the policy unconstitutional and demanded the school district stop forcing the teachers to make such a promise.
“You need to know that the statute is a dead letter law which has been clearly overruled by the highest court in the land. Attempting to enforce the state statute is unconstitutional and will expose the school district to liability to a civil rights lawsuit,” the ACLU said in a statement last week.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to wonder; in the state of Nebraska, does molding kids to have "...love and devotion for the US government..." mean never have any disagreements with the policy of that government, even when those policies are pig-headedly, ham-fistedly not in the best interests of the American people?!?

Is that "love and devotion" supposed to be complete and unquestioning, even when the wars in which our American kids fight, die, or come home maimed for life, are ultimately for private profit, as we well know they are?!?

It would appear here that the state of Nebraska is trying to inculcate blind obedience to the State, to the complete disfavor of logical, critical thinking.

Were I a parent in Nebraska, understanding this, I would be hauling my kid out of the public school there so fast that the principal's head would be spinning around faster than did Linda Blair's in "The Exorcist".

WATCH: Philly cop threatens to impound man’s car unless he buys tickets to police fundraiser

A Philadelphia police officer was relegated to desk duty after getting caught on video threatening to impound a man’s car unless he bought tickets to a department fundraiser.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Chief Charles Ramsey ordered that Officer Matthew Zagursky’s gun be taken away from him after seeing footage of Zagursky’s actions during a traffic stop.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So this is how Philadelphia cops interpret the phrase, "to protect and serve".

The Plague of American Authoritarianism

sound familiar? snip: societies that idealized war, soldiers, nationalism, militarism, political certainty, fallen warriors, racial cleansing, and a dogmatic allegiance to the homeland. Education and the media were the propaganda tools of authoritarianism, merging fascist and religious symbols with the language of God, family, and country, and were integral to promoting servility and conformity among the populace.

UNITED STATES JUST PASSED UP OLD SOVIET UNION GULAGS FOR LARGEST PRISON SYSTEM

For decades, the Soviet Gulags under Joseph Stalin had been considered some of the worst prisons in all of history. But now things have changed.

The United States has far exceeded the horrific tolls of the gulags. In the Soviet example, there were more than 18 million victims during the gulags’ use over four decades.

Around a million people died in the gulags over the years.

Now, as of 2009, the United States tolls soar higher than 7 million in prison, on probation or in some way caught up in the American prison system.

On the surface that might sound like a lot less than the gulag total above. But when you factor in all who have been put through the US prison system, we find a total that is higher than 19 million. That’s more than the 18 million locked up in the gulag system over those forty years.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The American prison system is an absolute, complete, total failure, and if you don't believe me, take a look at the recidivism rate.

As reported at http://www.nij.gov/topics/corrections/recidivism/pages/welcome.aspx:

National Statistics on Recidivism Bureau of Justice Statistics studies have found high rates of recidivism among released prisoners. One study tracked 404,638 prisoners in 30 states after their release from prison in 2005.[1] The researchers found that: Within three years of release, about two-thirds (67.8 percent) of released prisoners were rearrested. Within five years of release, about three-quarters (76.6 percent) of released prisoners were rearrested. Of those prisoners who were rearrested, more than half (56.7 percent) were arrested by the end of the first year. Property offenders were the most likely to be rearrested, with 82.1 percent of released property offenders arrested for a new crime compared with 76.9 percent of drug offenders, 73.6 percent of public order offenders and 71.3 percent of violent offenders.

IF the American prison system worked, these numbers would not be anywhere near as high.

And it galls me for all the money spent here, the outcome is so absurdly lousy.

In Sweden, they are closing their prisons, because they don't have enough prisoners to fill them. And why?!? Because the entire focus of incarceration is rehabilitation, period, end of discussion. The Swedish model looks to encourage family involvement, so that when a prisoner has served his or her time, they can re-integrate with society, and become productive again.

But particularly with the private prisons, low recidivism rates hurts their bottom line, so when prisoners are released, they are generally worse off, emotionally, physically, and mentally, that they are most probably going to offend again.

This is so morally wrong, both for society and the individual prisoners, that I hardly know where to begin.

OPERATION CHOKE POINT: THE GOVERNMENT’S COVERT WAR ON SMALL BUSINESS

Banks are sending notices of account closure out to small businesses across the country, to clients they’ve done business with for years, even decades. The reason? They often don’t provide one.
But a growing number of business owners believe they know why they’re being cut off from the financial system. It’s Operation Choke Point, ostensibly an attempt to crack down on fraudulent businesses, but in reality a dragnet that has ensnared innocent entrepreneurs unfairly classified as “high-risk” players.

TPP requires major sales effort to gain acceptance

New Zealanders are so deeply polarised on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) that even if a good deal is finally negotiated it will take a major sales job on the Government's behalf so it's not viewed as a con job by many Kiwis.

This polarisation - which would be apparent to the Government's pollsters - may have been behind why John Key and Tim Groser stepped up the rhetoric on the pact this week.

Key used a sympathetic audience at Amcham's 50th anniversary celebrations in Auckland to stake out New Zealand's position on TPP and try to take the sting out of some of the wilder accusations which have gained currency in the absence of in-depth briefing from the Government side.

Crippling court costs force poverty-stricken people to 'plead guilty to crimes they didn't commit'

Poverty-stricken people are being encouraged to plead guilty to crimes they did not commit out of fear they will face crippling costs imposed by new financial penalties, leading lawyers, magistrates and campaigners have warned.

Legal experts have called for an urgent review of the criminal courts charge, which has been compared to “18th-century” forms of justice after being implemented earlier this year.

The new levy was introduced by the former Justice Secretary, Chris Grayling, to make criminals pay for the upkeep of the courts. Because the charge can be up to 10 times higher if someone is found guilty after pleading innocence, critics say it is undermining the justice system by encouraging impoverished defendants to plead guilty even if they have done nothing wrong.

Windows 10 is spying on almost everything you do – here’s how to opt out

Windows 10 is amazing. Windows 10 is fantastic. Windows 10 is glorious. Windows 10 is faster, smoother and more user-friendly than any Windows operating system that has come before it. Windows 10 is everything Windows 8 should have been, addressing nearly all of the major problems users had with Microsoft’s previous-generation platform in one fell swoop.

But there’s something you should know: As you read this article from your newly upgraded PC, Windows 10 is also spying on nearly everything you do.

About-Face: Autopsy Shows Police Shot St. Louis Teen in the Back

A young black man, who was killed by police in St. Louis this week, died from a gunshot to the back, according to the results of an autopsy.

An autopsy of 18-year-old Mansur Ball-Bey, who was killed by St. Louis policemen on Wednesday, has revealed that he died from a single wound in the back, media reports quoted police officials as saying.
It was earlier reported that St. Louis police officers killed the 18-year-old while conducting a search on his home.

Police claimed that two suspects had been attempting to flee, when the young man pointed a gun at officers and refused to drop it, prompting them to shoot and kill him. The other man remains on the run.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to conclude that there is no credibility or accountability in any office of government, including that of state or city police.

Can the States seize control of federal lands?

The term “Sagebrush Rebellion” is again showing up in newspapers across the American west as states seek more control over federal lands within their own boundaries. As with the original Sagebrush Rebellion of the 1970s and 1980s, several western states, where the federal government owns well over one-third of land within the states, have begun to look to more local control of lands as an answer to federal indifference, mismanagement, and outright hostility. In at least one case — Utah — the state has initiated a lawsuit in an effort to wrest more control of lands out of federal hands.

House lawsuit against Obama is turning into a real problem for the president

unprecedented House lawsuit against President Obama that was once derided as a certain loser looks stronger now and may soon deliver an early legal round to Republican lawmakers complaining of executive branch overreach.

A federal judge is expected to decide shortly whether to dismiss the suit, but thanks to an amended complaint and a recent Supreme Court ruling, the Republican-backed case has a much better chance of proceeding, attorneys agree.

At issue is whether the House may sue in court to defend its constitutionally granted "power of the purse" if the president spends money that was not appropriated by Congress.

The lawsuit alleges that Obama's top aides quietly claimed the power to spend $178 billion over the next decade to reimburse health insurers for covering the cost of co-payments for low-income people who buy subsidized insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Webmaster's Commentary:

All financial bills are supposed to originate in the House of Representatives, period, end of discussion.

And Secretary Burwell; monies given to health insurers to compensate for fees under Obamacare are now "..akin to entitlements, so there was no need to seek additional approval from Congress"?!?

THAT is completely hubristic in the extreme, and I hope the lawsuit is successful against this administration on that reason alone.

WHAT DROUGHT? NESTLE PAYS ONLY $524 TO EXTRACT 27,000,000 GALLONS OF CALIFORNIA DRINKING WATER

Nestle has found itself more and more frequently in the glare of the California drought-shame spotlight than it would arguably care to be — though not frequently enough, apparently, for the megacorporation to have spontaneously sprouted a conscience. Drought-shaming worked sufficiently enough for Starbucks to stop bottling water in the now-arid state entirely, uprooting its operations all the way to Pennsylvania. But Nestle simply shrugged off public outrage and then upped the ante by increasing its draw from natural springs — most notoriously in the San Bernardino National Forest — with an absurdlyexpired permit.

‘You hate America': Cenk Uygur rips Kansas Repubs who fired woman for not going to church

Young Turks host Cenk Uygur blasted Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach (R) and his office on Thursday for allegedly firing a woman for not attending a church.

“You love religion so much you want even more restriction — you want everybody to follow whatever religion the people believe in. You got Iran, you got Saudi Arabia. You got choices, man,” Uygur said. “One of your choices is not Kansas, in the United States of America. Here, we do not do religious tests for office. You know who decided that? Our founding fathers, when they put it in the Constitution. If you don’t like it, get the f*ck out of the country. Leave. Go home right now, wherever that is for you. America’s not home for you. You hate America.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

To the best of my knowledge and belief, this firing was completely illegal on Constitutional grounds.

This woman has one hell of a lawsuit here, and I hope that she will find a pro bono attorney who will point out, in the lawsuit, that Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach has absolutely no right to attempt to force someone into a house of worship.

It is hubris, above and beyond the pale, that Kobach believed he personally had the right to force this decision on this woman.

And I say this as a Methodist Christian: faith should never be forced on anyone, like a mandatory vaccine; it should be an invitation, and solely on the basis of the willingness of the individual find a spiritual resonance with a faith community.

Location, Sensors, Voice, Photos?! Spotify Just Got Real Creepy With The Data It Collects On You

Music streaming market leader Spotify has decided that it wants to know a lot more about you. It wants to be able to access the sensor information on your phone so it can determine whether you’re walking, running or standing still. It wants to know your GPS coordinates, grab photos from your phone and look through your contacts too. And it may share that information with its partners, so a whole load of companies could know exactly where you are and what you’re up to.

This has all been made apparent by a rather significant update to the Spotify privacy policy, pushed out to users today. Upon opening the Spotify app up this morning, your reporter was greeted with a request to agree to the new conditions. A quick comparison with the previous privacy policy using the Wayback Machine showed some major changes had been made. I’m now considering whether the £10 I pay for a premium membership is worth it, given the amount of privacy I’d be giving away by consenting.

FBI HAD 12-PAGE FILE ON GEORGE CARLIN BECAUSE HE MADE JOKES ABOUT GOVERNMENT

Comedian George Carlin is known as one of the most controversial and outspoken entertainers of his time and, as far as the government is concerned, he could have possibly been a terrorist.

He went into great detail about corruption in government and business.

During the 1978 Supreme Court case, FCC v Pacifica Foundation, the government cited Carlin’s work as an example of profanity. They used his “Seven Dirty Words” segment to show the type of language that was being used in records and broadcasts. However, the government’s interest in his work did not stop there.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, let me get this straight. People who are funny, and tell the truth about this government in a funny way, have been designated "terrorists" by the American government since 1969?!?

Carlin was far more than just a comedian; he, in many ways, was a prophet, and looking at the complete dysfunction of US Federal government , he was absolutely right on so many levels.

New Mexico: Joyriding Traffic Cop Held Liable For Fatality

snip: The three-judge panel found his arbitrary actions involved a constitutional violation — the deprivation of life — under the color of law. “He used his official squad car and activated its emergency lights and proceeded to speed through surface city streets at more than 60 miles per hour over 8.8 miles through eleven city intersections and at least one red light — all for his personal pleasure, on no governmental business of any kind,” Judge Neil M. Gorsuch wrote for the court. “What’s more, the New Mexico statute empowering police officers to speed and run red lights when pursuing a lawbreaker expressly states that it does not insulate an officer ‘from the consequences of his reckless disregard for the safety of others.'”
