Precious Metals &  Financial Market News: Protect Yourself By Staying Informed
Iran's nuclear program remains unchanged, a government spokesman said Saturday, indicating that Tehran has no plans to meet a key Western demand that it stop enriching uranium.

Gholam Hossein Elham's insistence that Iran would not change the central part of its controversial program came a day after Iran sent the European Union its response to an international proposal to curb its program in exchange for economic incentives. The content of the response has not been made public.

As a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (which Israel, by the way, is not), Iran is fully within its rights to enrich uranium to the limits required for building a power station.

The level of uranium enrichment for this kind of work is at 3% enrichment.

According the laws of physics and nuclear energy, you absolutely cannot create a nuclear bomb with uranium enrichment of 3%. This is the point this article appears to have deliberately omitted.

Hackers have been busy attacking the servers of What Really Happened non stop for the past two weeks... Today they succeeded in shutting them down completely. Being a holiday weekend, they are having difficulty getting technicians to rectify the situation....

Obviously, we are back up and running (and already the hack attacks are resuming).

I want to make a point here.

All this crap the US Government is saying about ow it needs to read our emails to find the terrorists is nonsense. Real terrorists (not the Mossad phonies running around playing at being Al Qaeda) may safely be presumed to use the same methods hackers use. So, if the US Government cannot find and stop the hackers, they cannot find and stop real terrorists. If the US Government cannot read the hackers' emails in order to arrest then, then the US Government cannot read the terrorists' emails to find and arrest them.

The continuing presence of the hacker problem is proof that the US Government is totally impotent to deal with a real terror threat on the internet. They can't do it. Their cyber-dicks are limp.

So, all this monitoring of the emails of ordinary citizens is a total waste of time and tax money.

Let us hope that the Israeli High Court understands that the entire world will be watching this decision very closely.

Bush administration officials knew that a Texas oil company with close ties to President Bush was planning to sign an oil deal with the regional Kurdistan government that ran counter to American policy and undercut Iraq's central government, a Congressional committee has concluded.

The Kurdistan deal, by ceding responsibility for writing contracts directly to a regional government, infuriated Iraqi officials. But State Department officials did nothing to discourage the deal and in some cases appeared to welcome it, the documents show.

"Assaad said he was working on the Saturday before Easter 1991, just after the Persian Gulf War had ended, when he discovered an eight-page poem in his mailbox. The poem, which became a court exhibit, is 47 stanzas - 235 lines in all, many of them lewd, mocking Assaad. The poem also refers to another creation of the scientists who wrote it - a rubber camel outfitted with all manner of sexually explicit appendages.

"The poem reads: 'In [Assaad's] honor we created this beast; it represents life lower than yeast.' The camel, it notes, each week will be given 'to who did the least.'

"The poem also doubles as an ode to each of the participants who adorned the camel, who number at least six and referred to themselves as 'the camel club.' Two - Dr. Philip M. Zack and Dr. Marian K. According to a front-page article in today's New York Times, they have been knowingly and intentionally using torture techniques employed by the Chinese communists on American soldiers during the Korean War on detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

It's fairly obvious that [military] strikes won't solve the problem, will create additional problems, would lead to a wider threat against American and other interests, and would lead to a war with no obvious end. Unfortunately, ust because a military attack against Iran is one of the most insane things that Israel and/or the US might do is no guarantee that the knuckleheads in Washington and Tel Aviv won't move forward with it.

This week's warnings from US President George W. Bush and Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of America's Joint Chiefs of Staff, against an IDF strike on Iran are a sign that Washington is concerned that Jerusalem may indeed attack the Islamic Republic, Israeli government officials said Thursday.

Congress bypassed the normal appropriation process on June 26 when it approved a $170 million raise in military aid to Israel, as part of a larger supplemental spending bill. The increase contrasts with the standstill in budgeting for almost all other government programs. Due to fighting between Democrats and Republicans over the federal budget, most government spending will be held in what is known as a "continuous resolution," which maintains all spending at the same level as in the previous fiscal year and allows no raise in government spending.

Aid to Israel would normally be covered by this resolution, but legislators made the aid into an amendment to special legislation covering funding for the military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to an official in the Washington pro-Israel community, the only other instance in which aid to Israel went through this channel was after the first Gulf War, 16 years ago.

We may have just missed a false-flag "terror" attack by "Al Qaeda" (nudge nudge wink wink).

The news story at the time was that the rocket was probably a "hobby" rocket. Well, being a rocket hobbiest myself, this story never made sense. Hobby rockets are too small to be seen by a passenger jet. Amateur rocket enthusiasts have special areas set aside by the FAA to conduct flights, and more to the point, most hobby rocket engines have very short burn times, which means a hobby rocket reaching the altitude of the passenger jet would no longer be trailing a white trail. Certainly hobby or model rockets won't go "20 miles" up as the pilot described.

The fact that investigation has "gone cold" since the FAA and the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force took charge signals a cover-up of some kind.

The only reason Bush characterizes these people as "dangerous" is that they will spill the beans on the torture which has been going on at Guantanamo on a consistent basis ever since they were arrested.

Leaders of the Colombian FARC rebel movement were paid millions of dollars to free Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt and 14 other hostages, Swiss radio said on Friday, quoting 'a reliable source'.

The 15 hostages released on Wednesday by the Colombian army 'were in reality ransomed for a high price, and the whole operation afterwards was a set-up,' the radio's French-language channel said.

Saying the United States, which had three of its citizens among those freed, was behind the deal, it put the price of the ransom at some $20 million.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said she's ``proud'' of the U.S. decision to wage the Iraq war and insisted that the world is not more dangerous than it was when George W. Bush took office.

If Secretary Rice claims that she is "proud" of the US decision to invade Iraq, she must, logically be "proud" of the following:

1. Over a million Iraqis dead, and millions displaced.

2. The use of depleted uranium which has sickened and killed thousands of Iraqis, our own troops, and their families.

3. The legitimization of torture as a standard technique of American interrogation at home and abroad.

4. The complete destruction of the Iraqi infrastructure, including hospitals and schools.

5. The subjugation of Iraq as a US vassal from which large American companies will profit greatly from upcoming contracts.

6. The fact that this country was whipped into a war frenzy on an absolute pack of lies that Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

Yes, Secretary Rice, as one of Bush's sociopathic inner circle who feels no shame or blame for the consequences of their actions, has much to feel "proud" about this 4th of July holiday.

Adolf Hitler Speech on May 4 1941 Berlin Reichstag Germany...

Category: HIDDEN HISTORY

Hitler's presentation of "They are out to get us" to scare the Germans into following him into Poland sounds remarkably like Bush's "Weapons of mass destruction" claim used to scare Americans into following him into Iraq.

Those were the days - up to a few days ago, actually - when the fateful words "war" and "oil" would never have been aligned in the same sentence anywhere in US corporate media; the days when former defense secretary and Pentagon supremo Donald Rumsfeld insisted Iraq had "literally nothing to do with oil".

But now the US and European Big Oil majors that controlled the Iraqi oil industry up to the 1972 nationalization - today represented by Exxon Mobil, Shell, BP, Total and Chevron - seem to be back with a vengeance. Thus the New York Times, for instance, can redeem itself from printing Ahmad Chalabi-fed weapons-of-mass-destruction nonsense on its front page for months and actually engage in news that's fit to print.

Hagin, a former aide to President George H.W. Bush and a former vice president at Chiquita Brands International, said he will depart the week of July 20 for a job that will have him splitting time among Chicago, Washington and his beloved Cincinnati.

There's not really that much time left for the current administration to be in office, so the timing feels more than a little odd.

One has to wonder what this man may know, and why his departure date is toward the end of this month, rather than at the end of Bush's term in office.

Iran is likely to launch ballistic missiles against Israel and the United States and the NATO alliance should prepare for it, was the warning issued earlier this week by Admiral James Winnefeld, commander of the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean.

Admiral Winnefeld describes the possibility of an offensive barrage of ballistic missiles fired from Iran against Israel as being "by far the most likely employment of ballistic missiles in the world today, and it demands our immediate attention in the event of a need for a U.S. or NATO response."

So now we know how Israel is going to attempt to trick the world: stage a false flag attack against an Israeli asset, blame Iran, and we're off and running.

And a small memo to Admiral Winnefeld: Israel has nukes, and a very thoroughly capable military.

Why would Iran do the most stupid possible thing it could by attacking Israel, knowing the kind of US and Israeli retaliation such an action would bring to bear?

And the logical answer is, they wouldn't attack Israel, for just this reason.

Biofuels have forced global food prices up by 75% - far more than previously estimated - according to a confidential World Bank report obtained by the Guardian.

The figure emphatically contradicts the US government's claims that plant-derived fuels contribute less than 3% to food-price rises. It will add to pressure on governments in Washington and across Europe, which have turned to plant-derived fuels to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and reduce their dependence on imported oil.

Senior development sources believe the report, completed in April, has not been published to avoid embarrassing President George Bush.

This report, which everyone in the US and the world should be reading, "...has not been published to avoid embarrassing President George Bush"?

These policies favoring biofuel production are causing people to die.

The World Bank should be less concerned with "embarrassing Bush" than they should be with telling the truth straight up, period, end of discussion.

Connie Heermann, a teacher for 27 years, sought permission to introduce the book to her students last autumn after attending a training workshop held by the Freedom Writers Foundation. "If you read the whole book you will see how these inner-city students grow and change and become articulate, compassionate, educated young people who want to do something good in their lives despite the environment in which they were raised," she told the Guardian. "I thought my students would very much relate to those kids."

Teachers' union officials say that a single board member objected to swearing in the book.

Category: DICTATORSHIP

One has to wonder if it was the swearing the board member really object to - or whether it was the clear message of the book that kid could turn their lives around, and take charge of their own destinies.

There are some in academia, unfortunately, who can't stand it when kids don't live down to their expectations.

Many years ago, a classic sociological experiment was done in New York, where a group of kids was randomly divided into two groups.

One teacher was told that her kids were discipline problems, unruly, would probably drop out, etc.And guess what?

Those kids absolutely lived up to - or down from - the expectations of their teachers.

The real obscenity here is not the swearing, but the refusal by the board to give this teacher permission to use a very powerful tool to help these kids excel.

Can Israel start an attack on Iran all on its lonely?

Probably, yes.

But can it finish such an attack without the help of US air power?

Probably not.

And remember: Bush has promised that the US will support Israel military, no matter who starts the shooting.

It looks as though Israel's plan is to start an attack, and expect that the US will finish it for Israel.

I'd love to believe that there are some in congress, the military, and the executive who would be willing to throw cold water on such foolishness, but unfortunately, considering the stranglehold Israel has over this government, that's not about to happen.

The assault of IPS Gaza correspondent Mohammed Omer has left Israeli security personnel with a lot of explaining to do. And they are not doing a very good job of it.

What made Omer a particular embarrassment to Israel's slick PR machine was the media attention, both domestic and international, the issue attracted. The Guardian and Independent in London were among several media publications that reported at length the treatment Omer had been given.

"At several properties, there were a significant number of fully built homes sitting vacant along with a large number of additional homes still under construction," Sandler O'Neill & Partners analyst Aaron Deer wrote today after touring developments in Corona and Ontario. "At one master plan community, the entire development appeared to be vacant -- with the exception of crews working on new construction, it was a ghost town."

Median home prices in both communities have dropped sharply over the last year, declining 33.6% in Corona and 30.3% in Ontario, according to DataQuick Information Systems. In Corona, the median sales price fell nearly $200,000 from May 2007 to May 2008, dropping from $565,000 to $375,000.

More than four million truck drivers have gone on strike in India to protest against a sharp increase in fuel prices. The drivers are angry that the Indian government raised the cost of fuel almost 10 percent last month, the second price rise this year. They are also protesting against the tolls they have to pay on Indian motorways and say they will boycott them for as long as is necessary.

A prolonged strike could lead to considerable shortages of food and other goods throughout the country, as well as seriously damaging economic output.

Viacom wants the data to prove that infringing material is more popular than user-created videos, which could be used to increase Google's liability if it is found guilty of contributory infringement.

It amounted to a reiteration of a promised buildup of U.S. troops in Afghanistan by Bush. He said coalition forces have doubled in size over two years, and pledged that the twin strategy of fighting extremists and supporting Afghanistan's civil development "is going to work."

So how does Bush intend to fill the gap between the current troop strength and what is really needed?

The straight answer is, he can't because we just don't have the military resources.
