THE BATTLE FOR PALMYRA: WHAT REALLY HAPPENED ACCORDING TO OUR MILITARY SOURCES

Even nominally friendly sites like NSNBC are misreporting events in this historically important town in the far east of Homs Governorate. Many sites are simply making the fatuous statement that the entire city of Palmyra has been overrun by ISIS fanatics and that includes Alalam and Al-Mayaadeen. Interesting to note that neither news source has anyone on the ground there to report directly.

U.S. Intelligence Predicted: U.S. Support For Rebels in Syria Would Lead To Fall of Ramadi

Thanks to Brad Hoff for pointing in the comments here to the Defense Intelligence Agency reports from August and October 2012 about the war on Syria. The DIA was the one U.S. intelligence agency that got the Iraq WMD case right but its appraisals, for example that the famous "aluminum tubes" were ordered by Iraq to build mortar tubes, were suppressed by the Bush administration. The now published heavily redacted DIA reports were released after Freedom Of Information Act litigation by the conservative Judicial Watch.

Iraqi forces fled Ramadi without a fight

Iraqi security forces fled Ramadi without putting up a fight, despite holding as much as a 10-to-1 advantage over Islamic State militants, according to two senior U.S. defense officials.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss key details of the battle, said the primary blame in Ramadi rested with Iraqi security forces.

Jeb Bush, James Baker, and the Pro-Israel Mega-Donors

What is the issue, that gets little attention in the mainstream, is that the presidential candidates find it necessary to pay obeisance to ultra-powerful individuals who represent the interests of Israel, not the United States.

What exists now is a “passionate attachment” to a foreign country on steroids that undercuts American security.

For while the mainstream media is analyzing in microscopic detail Jeb’s stumbling over his Iraq war response, it naturally ignores that third rail in contemporary American politics, the power of the Israel lobby.

What the Fall of Ramadi Means

The Middle East is becoming a basket of failed states. And as we look around that region, every country is looking out for No. 1.

The Turks looked the other way as volunteers entered Syria to join ISIS. The Turks then let Kurds cross into Syria to keep ISIS out of Kobane. Now, according to Assad, the Turks are aiding al-Qaida (the Nusra Front) in establishing its own caliphate in Idlib. The Saudis and Gulf Arabs also, says Assad, aided the Nusra Front in taking Idlib.

And what of us?

Considering the millions of dead, wounded, uprooted, homeless, sick and suffering, American-born and native-born, have our wars and bombings in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen been, on balance, more a blessing than a curse to the people we went to help?

Before we plunge back into these Middle East wars from which, at long last, we have begun to extricate ourselves, we ought to recall the words of that anonymous U.S. officer in Vietnam:

Webmaster's Commentary:

I agree with a lot Pat Buchanan says, but he leaves out a couple of critical factors here.

Number one, the US government did not invade and occupy Iraq, and the other countries he names, in order to 'help them'; we invaded Iraq for the oil, and to make absolutely certain that the oil was sold only in US dollars.

The US government invaded Libya to create regime change, and destroy the gold dinar, which Qaddafi was about to inaugurate.

The US government invaded Afghanistan for its curse of geographic significance, for the pipelines, and to control opium production.

The US government is backing Saudi intervention in Yemen, because by supporting Al Hadi, and with the Yemenite people having absolutely no say in their government's affairs, we created a failed state.

The US government is attempting to create regime change in Syria to further
isolate the current Iranian regime.

And one final thing about Iraq: anyone remember Muktada Al Sadr, the Iranian cleric, who stated that if US troops stayed one date beyond the SOFA agreement, that they would be considered fair game for his Mahdi army?!?

As reported in the longwarjournal.org, 3 May, 2015:

Radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al Sadr threatened to attack US personnel inside Iraq and beyond if the US House of Representatives passed a bill that would have recognized Kurdistan and Sunnis in western Iraq as their own independent countries. Sadr, whose Iranian-backed militia battled US and Coalition troops in Baghdad and central and southern Iraq during the occupation of Iraq, released a statement on his website on April 29 calling for attacks on US interests if Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act for 2016. The statement was translated on the Facebook page Shiʿa Jihadica: Clericalism, Militias, and Messianism.

I would strongly suggest that going back into any of these countries is one heck of a double-plus ungood thing for the US government to do.

The American people are war-weary, and war-skeptical at this point, and most generally, don't believe ANYTHING coming out of DC these days because of all the lies.

Russia, Iraq to conduct regular military cooperation talks at expert level — Kremlin

Russia and Iraq will maintain regular expert-level dialogue on military-technical cooperation, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday. He said this issue was discussed at a meeting of President Vladimir Putin with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Thursday.
"They held a discussion on the subject of military-technical cooperation. The dialogue will continue at a regular expert level," said the Kremlin official.
According to him, the meeting also focused on the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. "There is the potential for cooperation in this sphere," Peskov said.
The presidential press secretary generally assessed the conversation as substantive. "The sides touched upon issues of economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector, the activity there [in Iraq] of Russian companies, which, despite all the difficulties, are ready to expand their presence [in Iraq]," the Kremlin spokesman said.

OBAMA’S STRATEGIC SHIFT

President Obama has belatedly detected the looming catastrophe in Syria and Iraq as Sunni terrorists gain ground. He also grasps the need for Russian and Iranian help. But his administration remains infested with neocons and liberal war hawks who could sabotage the needed deals, reports Robert Parry.

t’s finally dawning on President Barack Obama the grave dangers that have been created for the American Republic by decades of neoconservative dominance of U.S. foreign policy, but his moves in response to this dire threat remain hesitant and indecisive.

The only game-saving play open to Obama now – in response to recent Saudi-backed escalation of Sunni extremism in Syria and Iraq as well the new right-wing racist government in Israel – may be to forge an alliance with Iran and Russia as a counterforce in the Middle East that could save Syria’s relatively secular regime and reverse gains by the Islamic State inside Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to believe that the above is possible. But unfortunately, this President is way too hubristic and narcissistic to make the necessary changes to bring about a possible lasting peace.

I frankly think Obama is trying, by deploying ISIS, to get Americans to go along with a 3rd invasion of Iraq; an overthrow of Al-Assad in Damascus; and a re-invasion of Libya.

A short memo, based on a statement of the character Tony Soprano, to President Obama: FURGETTABOUTIT!!! There will be no support for US troops on the ground, and the equipment you are sending to Iraq is absolutely no good without skilled operators to make them do what they are supposed to do.

Hope – versus Neoliberalism – an Ode to Solidarity

The new apparent Hope – is it what my friend Finian Cunningham says – the first ‘eye blinking’ by Washington facing Russia?

We are so thirsty for hope, hope for another, more just, more equitable world, we see hope in the first ‘blinking of an eye’. Hope is good. Hope is the basis for action. And action must be the consequence of hope – hope that not all is lost. Action to break that impasse of neoliberal all-engulfing greed must be simple. We have become strangers to ourselves. We must return to our roots, recognizing where and why we failed to diagnose the beast. Our awakened, re-kindled sense of consciousness may lead us to what we have lost – our inherent sense of solidarity.

Let’s hope together for that to happen – to happen soon, for the suffering is too great to endure much longer. We, the 99.99 % have it in our power to stop this misery and save our planet.

William Kristol: We were right to fight in Iraq

We were right to invade Iraq in 2003 to remove Saddam Hussein, and to complete the job we should have finished in 1991.

Even with the absence of caches of weapons of mass destruction, and the mistakes we made in failing to send enough troops at first and to provide security from the beginning for the Iraqi people, we were right to persevere through several difficult years. We were able to bring the war to a reasonably successful conclusion in 2008.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So according to Kristol, the US killed a lot of people, bombed Iraq into rubble, utterly failed to accomplish the stated goals for the war because the nuclear weapons did not actually exist, leaving Iraq in utter chaos, but it was still a success?

I wonder what Kristol thinks is a failure?

PENTAGON SENDING 2,000 ANTI-TANK WEAPONS TO IRAQ

The US-Islamic State Dance: One Step Forward and Two Steps Back – By Design

That said, there exists too much overwhelming evidence to prove that the Islamic State is the US Empire’s latest creation of a designated enemy to propagate unending global war and destruction in all resource rich regions on earth. Reagan and Bush senior used Osama’s al Qaeda machine beginning in the early 1980’s as Washington’s proxy war mercenaries on the ground against the Soviet Empire that led eventually to its demise within the decade. Then in the 90’s al Qaeda was used to help “balkanize” Yugoslavia into 13 obliterated, ineffectual little pieces carved up and served as Empire bases against resurrected cold war enemy Russia as well as the Middle East. Then came the pivotal role of Osama’s 19 box-cutters - 15 of whom were Saudi Arabian - used as inside job 9/11 stooges, close to half of whom have since surfaced alive and well on the planet. Only the 3000 Americans murdered and sacrificed that fateful day by the neocons Bush and Cheney et al with Israeli-Saudi help remain dead. The extensively long history of the United States government covertly utilizing al Qaeda/ISIS/Islamic State as America’s oft-repeated actual ally in its fabricated bogus “war on terror” is nothing but a diabolically driven hoax on this planet. The Islamic State is the fake US enemy deployed by the DC crime cabal as its Empire paid-for-hire tool.

FLASHBACK - The Lie Factory

Kwiatkowski, 43, a now-retired Air Force officer who served in the Pentagon's Near East and South Asia (NESA) unit in the year before the invasion of Iraq, observed how the Pentagon's Iraq war-planning unit manufactured scare stories about Iraq's weapons and ties to terrorists. "It wasn't intelligence‚ -- it was propaganda," she says. "They'd take a little bit of intelligence, cherry-pick it, make it sound much more exciting, usually by taking it out of context, often by juxtaposition of two pieces of information that don't belong together." It was by turning such bogus intelligence into talking points for U.S. officials‚ -- including ominous lines in speeches by President Bush and Vice President Cheney, along with Secretary of State Colin Powell's testimony at the U.N. Security Council last February‚ -- that the administration pushed American public opinion into supporting an unnecessary war.

Pretty much everybody in American politics now agrees that the Iraq War was not a great idea. The source of disagreement has moved, instead, to a different question: Was it a failure, or a crime? FLASHBACK - THE LIE OF THE (LAST) CENTURY

There is nothing new in a government lying to their people to start a war. Indeed because most people prefer living in peace to bloody and horrific death in war, any government that desires to initiate a war usually lies to their people to create the illusion that support for the war is the only possible choice they can make.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With all of America now aware that the US Government lied to them about the use of torture it is time to remind Americans of the other lies told by the US Government, including the lies used to trick us into war with Iraq. Today the politicians and media are trying to re-wriote the history of the 2003 Iraq invasion, claiming it was all "bad intelligence" and an innocent mistake. BULL BISCUITS!

US Reaffirms Support for Iraqi Offensive to Retake Ramadi

U.S. President Barack Obama reaffirmed his government's support for Iraq's prime minister and the decision to plan an operation to retake control of Ramadi, as Iraqi forces and Shi'ite militias gathered outside the western city.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With the majority of US politicians now admitting that the 2003 invasion of Iraq was a mistake and that Saddam did not have nuclear weapons, why are we compounding the mistake even further by continuing to pour more weapons into that beleaguered nation, leading to more bloodshed? Two wrongs do not make a right. The current US puppet regime should not be there in Baghdad at all. It is time to let the people of Iraq have their nation back and stop wasting any more time and money on this debacle!

Iraqi Troops Abandon US-Made Tanks, Artillery to ISIS in Ramadi Loss

When ISIS took the Iraqi city of Mosul last year, they seized an army’s worth of US-made weaponry and vehicles. The US air war against ISIS over the last nine months has centered in great measure on destroying that gear, while ferrying new gear to the Iraqi military.

Then Ramadi fell over the weekend, and it’s Mosul all over again. Despite the US downplaying the significance of the loss, the Pentagon is confirming that half a dozen tanks and significant artillery and armored vehicles, along with other gear, were abandoned by Iraqi troops fleeing the Anbar capital.

ABOUT THOSE U.S. TROOPS WHO DIED IN RAMADI

I can’t help but wonder how the family of Michael A. Monsoor is reacting to ISIS’s recent conquest of Ramadi in Iraq. Monsoor was awarded the Medal of Honor for actions taken during the 2006 Battle of Ramadi, when U.S. forces fought insurgents for control of the city. The medal was awarded posthumously.

Monsoor wasn’t the only U.S. soldier who died in Ramadi. According to the Wikipedia page “Battle of Ramadi (2006),” more than 80 U.S. soldiers were killed and more than 200 were injured.

My hunch is that at least some of the family members of all those dead Americans are thinking to themselves, “Okay, ISIS now controls Ramadi. But at least my loved one died so that Americans can be free.”

Of course, that’s easier than thinking that they died for nothing. But the fact is that they did die for nothing. Just look at Ramadi today for proof. Indeed, just look at Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Wars fought overseas are NOT fought "to keep Americans free"; they are fought for control of resources major American corporations wish to claim, and to which they have no moral right whatsoever.
As the lyrics from a new song I have just shipped off to my soloist, state:

"War's never fought for the reasons you're given,
Those in power keep feeding you lies
And the reasons you're made to keep fighting and killing
should come as no big surprise
War's not about freedom, or courage or honor,
or preserving the American way;
It's all about money, control greed and power,
And making those who resist go away....
And making those who resist go away..."

The US government, with its preemptive war against Iraq, caused the situation which gave rise to Isis (IF, in fact, Isis is not a US tool, just as was Al Quaeda, to scare the stuffing out of Americans, and scare them out of thinking.) The corporate presstitutes are bemoaning Iraq's coming complete demise, if the US doesn't go in a 3rd time, militarily.

Folks, just say no, peacefully, to this government on a third invasion of Iraq; they cannot get anything straight, and will most likely botch things up more than they already are botched in this country. It is your children who will fight, get maimed for life, or die, in the name of corporate profits.

And no kid should get maimed or die for that; EVER!!

Lindsey Graham: Iraq Was Not A Mistake; Obama, Not Bush, To Blame For Current Mess In Iraq and Syria

In an interview on CNN Monday afternoon, soon-to-be presidential candidate Senator Lindsey Graham told Wolf Blitzer he believed the Iraq War was not a mistake. Graham also said President Obama is to blame for the current mess in Iraq and Syria, not former President George W. Bush.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We The People were told that the invasion of Iraq was about 9-11, Iraq's support for Al Qaeda, and because Iraq had nuclear weapons.

But ...

We have President Bush on video tape admitting Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11. The claim that Iraq was supporting Al Qaeda came from a single discredited source, and as a secular government, Iraq was a target of Al Qaeda, which promoted theocratic rule. And finally, as we all know now, there were no nuclear weapons.

So by what delusional twisted sense of logic does Graham insist the Iraq war was not a mistake ... unless there was another reason for the war we are not being told, like Israel wanted it!

The U.S. is at last facing the neocon captivity

The best thing about this political moment in the U.S. (if not for the good people of Iraq) is that the rise of ISIS and the Republican candidates’ embrace of the Iraq war is posing that deep and permanent question to the American public, Why did we invade Iraq?

Last night Chris Matthews asked that question again and David Corn said it was about the neoconservative desire to protect Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Wars are never fought for just one reason. The US was opposed to Iraq's selling their oil for the Euro. But there is no question that Israel wanted to smash a regional power that threatened their dominance, and absent that support and the copious amounts of fake evidence about Saddam's nuclear weapons, the US might have sought a peaceful resolution to the economic problems.

Decades of letting neocons dictate a hawkish foreign policy have put the American Republic in profound danger, just as presidents from George Washington to Dwight Eisenhower predicted, warnings that Americans must finally take to heart...

We may lament our poverty of leadership, but there are ways to make it function. “Princes,” since long before Machiavelli have always used advisers; some even listened to them. Forget What We Know Now: We Knew Then the Iraq War Was a Joke

One of the first "gotcha" moments of the 2016 presidential race came about as follows: Reporters following Jeb Bush on a pre-announcement campaign tour smartly decided to badger him about his position on the Iraq invasion. "Knowing what he knows now," they asked, would he have done the same thing as his brother?

Jeb's answer was characteristically Bushian: yes, no, and maybe. Bush III somehow hadn't prepared for the one question he was most absolutely certain to face the moment he decided take a step in the direction of the White House.

It was a little bit like invading a country and having no plan at all for what you do after you seize the capital. In other words, the kind of thing that should disqualify a person not just from the presidency, but maybe also from having a driver's license. George W. specialized in these jaw-dropping oversights, and it seems his brother might have a similar talent.

New documentaries probe elaborate cons behind the war on terror ‘mirage’

Before the screening of War of Lies, the film’s German director, Matthias Bittner, was called to the stage and introduced. He said very little, mainly cryptically that “in Germany this film will never be broadcast in a festival – even a student festival – or in a cinema.”

Someone in the audience asked: “Why?”

Bittner didn’t answer. Instead, he shrugged his shoulders and quickly left the stage, pointedly looking at the audience, as if to say: “You decide – after you see the film.”

What the audience saw is that War of Lies exposes, from the inside, that the war on Iraq was based on lies, and that the German security forces were instrumentally involved. From this the audience could infer that this politically embarrassing fact is the reason the German establishment will do all it can to squelch the film.

FLASHBACK - THE LIE OF THE (LAST) CENTURY

It is inescapable historical reality that leaders of nations will lie to their people to trick them into wars they otherwise would have refused. It is not "conspiracy theory" to suggest that leaders of nations lie to trick their people into wars. It is undeniable fact.

This brings us to the present case.

Did the government of the United States lie to the American people, more to the point, did President Bush and his Neocon associates lie to Congress, to initiate a war of conquest in Iraq?

This question has been given currency by a memo leaked from inside the British Government which clearly indicates a decision to go to war followed by the "fixing" of information around that policy. This is, as they say, a smoking gun.

But the fact is that long before this memo surfaced, it had become obvious that the US Government, aided by that of Great Britain, was lying to create the public support for a war in Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The corporate media is parroting the "bad intelligence" excuse for what is now acknowledged to have been a disastrous decision to go into Iraq. But there was no bad intelligence. The real goal of the war was to end Iraq's selling of their oil for the Euro and the claims about nuclear weapons was the lie told to you to trick you into sending your children to be killed and crippled for the US dollar's continuing hegemony!

US Blinks in Face-Off with Russia

After staring Russia in the face for the best part of a year, the poker-faced Americans finally realized they are holding a bunch of worthless cards. And the Americans blinked.

Last week started with US Secretary of State John Kerry coming to Russia to lay a wreath for the millions of Soviet soldiers who gave their lives in the historic defeat of Nazi Germany. Then the week ended with Kerry’s deputy at the State Department, Victoria Nuland, flying to Moscow to meet Russian officials to discuss implementation of the Minsk ceasefire in Ukraine.

That’s what you might call «America blinking first» in its high-stakes and reckless face-off with Russia over the Ukraine crisis.

Prepare for the Battle of Baghdad: ISIS hold victory parade after taking key city of Ramadi just 60 miles from capital in an orgy of violence and beheadings

ISIS could march on the Iraqi capital Baghdad within the next month after capturing the nearby city of Ramadi - where it has already carried out beheadings and a twisted victory parade - experts have said.

Mutilated bodies scatter the streets of the 'Gateway of Baghdad', where Islamic State slaughtered around 500 and forced over 8,000 to flee their homes over the last few days.

Now ISIS has released images of militants celebrating, children wielding automatic weapons and a fleet of pick-up trucks carrying its jubilant fighters through the blood-stained streets of Ramadi.

There are numerous reports from Ramadi, Iraq that US troops have fled from the nearby Habbiniyya Base east of the city.

Islamic State killed hundreds as it took Iraq's Ramadi

Islamic State militants likely killed up to 500 Iraqi civilians and soldiers and forced 8,000 people to flee from their homes as they captured the Iraqi city of Ramadi, a provincial official said Monday, while the extremists went door-to-door looking for policemen and pro-government tribesmen.

Is Washington Coming To Its Senses? — Paul Craig Roberts

There is much speculation about US Secretary of State John Kerry’s rush visit to Russia in the wake of Russia’s successful Victory Day celebration on May 9. On May 11, Kerry, who was snubbing Russia on the 9th, was on his way to Russia, and Putin consented to see him on May 12.

As time passes we will find out why Kerry was snubbing Putin on May 9 and 3 days later was criticizing Washington’s puppet regime in Ukraine. For what is known at this time, a possible explanation is that Washington is coming to its senses.

Far from admitting defeat, Benjamin Netanyahu is planning to sabotage the agreement between Washington and Teheran which is to be signed the 30th June 2015. His idea is to continue the work already accomplished by the Islamic Emirate in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen, by applying the Wright plan and creating an independent pseudo-Kurdistan straddling Iraq and Syria.

BEX Alert!!! - "Jeb Bush Reverses on Iraq: 'I Would Not Have' Invaded"

After days of refusing to say whether, with the benefit of hindsight, he would have ordered an invasion of Iraq in 2003, Jeb Bush relented Thursday and said he would not have done so.

"If we're all supposed to answer hypothetical questions, knowing what we know now, what would you have done?" Bush said with a twinge of annoyance while campaigning in Arizona. "I would have not engaged. I would not have gone into Iraq."

Kasich says U.S. shouldn’t have attacked Iraq

Dealing with a question that tripped up Jeb Bush, Gov. John Kasich says the U.S. never should have gone to war with Iraq, knowing what we know now.

“There’s a lot of people who lost limbs and lives over there, OK?” the governor told The Dispatch this week. “But if the question is, if there were not weapons of mass destruction should we have gone, the answer would’ve been no.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The 2003 invasion of Iraq was never about weapons of mass destruction. The 2003 invasion of Iraq was about Iraq starting to sell their oil for Euros instead of dollars in 2002. Since the end of WW2 the United States has dominated the global financial system, first through Bretton-Woods and more recently with the petrodollar. Iraq's selling oil for the Euro threatened the dollar's hegemony, and that was th real reason for the invasion, to install a puppet regime in Iraq that would put Iraq's oil on the world market, but only for US dollars. That was also the reason for the invasion of Libya, following Gaddafi's establishment of the Gold Dinar and his announcement that Libya's oil was for sale only for the Gold Dinar.

Media obfuscation and the Khadr controversy

The story of Omar Khadr unveils the sickening depravity of the Western/Zionist/Neocon warmongers and their bought-and-paid-for presstitutes.

For just shy of a decade, the Americans tortured the Canadian-born Khadr in the Guantanamo Bay concentration camp before relinquishing him to Canada where he has been held in Canadian jails since 2012.

Upon his release on bail on May 7, Canadian neocons began screeching from the hilltops about the ‘travesty’ of temporarily freeing a ‘convicted terrorist.’ Meanwhile, the neo-liberal crypto-militarists who occupy Canada’s mainstream media engaged in stereotypical faux debates consisting of highly constrained babble about the ‘rights and wrongs’ of the treatment of Khadr by the Canadian and American governments.

The issue is never framed properly and is in fact intentionally obfuscated.

Scale of UK attacks on Islamic State in Iraq revealed

British aircraft and unmanned drones have attacked Islamic State targets in Iraq with more than 200 bombs and missiles in military operations that have been largely ignored, a Guardian analysis has shown.

The air strikes, which began in the autumn, have been undertaken by the RAF’s oldest bombers – Tornado GR4s and its newest weapon – the remotely piloted Reaper.

Tornados have dropped at least 87 Paveway IV bombs and fired at least 47 Brimstone missiles. Reapers have fired more than 80 Hellfire missiles.

PMO enlists soldiers as propaganda tools: Toronto Star Editorial

Stephen Harper’s surprise trip to visit battle zones in Iraq and Kuwait last weekend held all the promise of a touchdown to boost the prime minister’s goal of appearing tough on terror and supportive of our troops.

70 years since the great Victory! 70 years since Soviet people saved the world by smashing Nazism.

Obama's latest scam: The splitting of Iraq

A bill that could divide Iraq into three separate entities has passed the US House Armed Services Committee by a vote of 60 to 2. The controversial draft bill will now be debated in the US House of Representatives where it will be voted on sometime in late May. If approved, President Barack Obama will be free to sidestep Iraq’s central government in Baghdad and provide arms and assistance directly to Sunnis and the Kurds that are fighting ISIS. This, in turn, will lead to the de facto partitioning of the battered country into three parts; Kurdistan, Shiastan, and Sunnistan.

Putin Aide Says Israel is Training ISIS

A senior aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Israel's Mossad of training Islamic State (aka ISIS) terrorists operating in Iraq and Syria, Iran's Press TV reports.

Prokhanov said ISIS is a byproduct of US policies in the Middle East.

"ISIS is a tool at the hands of the United States. They tell the Europeans that if we (the Americans) do not intervene, ISIS will cause you harm," he said. In fact, however, he added, Iran and Russia are the main targets of ISIS terror.

Chaos – not Victory – is Empire’s Name of the Game

“Once again a country “liberated” by the West is sinking deeper and deeper into chaos.”

This could be anyone of the countries in conflict, where Washington and its Western and Middle Eastern stooges sow war – eternal chaos, misery, death – and submission.

This is precisely the point: The Washington / NATO strategy is not to ‘win’ a war or conflict, but to create ongoing – endless chaos. That’s the way (i) to control people, nations and their resources; (ii) to assure the west is in continuous need for military – troops and equipment – remember more than 50% of the US GDP depends on the military industrial complex, related industries and services; and (iii) finally, a country in disarray or chaos, is broke and needs money – money with hardship conditions, ‘austerity’ money from the notorious IMF, World Bank and other associated nefarious ‘development institutions’ and money lenders; money that equals enslavement, especially with corrupt leaders that do not care for their people.

Planning Chaos in the Middle East: Destruction of Societies for Foreign Money Control

If one wonders how a desert-crawling line of Japanese open-back trucks gifted by the US filled with countless irregular fighters in plain view could ever have ever made it overnight to the point where Western military and political leaders are saying “the war against ISIL may be interminable”, one begins to see through the game. ISIL is a construction financed and trained by covert US and oil-king allies that ruins every place it enters, like Syria once the regime began to win the civil war. Al-Nusra/Al Qaeda was not enough. ISIL is a step up in the US-led control of the Middle East by terror, chaos and social devastation. “The Salvador option” was the first name for the post-war death squads in Iraq, but “Islamic State” stirs much more apocalyptic passions pro and con. Best of all, the ruling foreign war machines of the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia and NATO are now far better justified to “fight the barbaric terrorists”. Saudi Arabia with US support is now even projecting the “terrorist” and sectarian “Shiite” labels on the popular uprising of the poor in Yemen against a corrupt US-Saudi puppet government. One object alone is achieved. Peoples and resources of the region can be predated without sovereign social defences or unity of collective life purpose, the ultimate target of every US-led aggression. As long as all evils can be blamed on an ever-shifting Enemy, there is no overcoming recognition.

OBAMA BLOCKS IRAQI NUN FROM DESCRIBING CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION

A leading conservative is asking why the Obama State Department is barring a persecuted Iraqi nun from entry into the United States to share her message about the brutal treatment of Christians in her country.

Nina Shea of the Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom, writes in a National Review op-ed that Sister Diana Momeka is “an internationally respected and leading representative of the Nineveh Christians who have been killed and deported by ISIS.”

Yet this nun is being “barred from coming to Washington to testify about this catastrophe?”

Sister Diana was the only Christian in the delegation and the only member blocked from the trip, the Washington Times reported, leading some of her American supporters to question why she was singled out.

Shea, in her op-ed titled “With Malice Toward Nun,” exposed the real reason why Obama denied the visa for Sister Diana.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The persecution of Christians and other minority religions in the Middle East now is an established fact. That Obama wants it ignored is not going to make it go away spontaneously.

The Day After Damascus Falls

The Saudi-Israeli alliance has gone on the offensive, ramping up a “regime change” war in Syria and, in effect, promoting a military victory for Al-Qaeda or its spinoff, the Islamic State. But the consequences of that victory could toll the final bell for the American Republic, writes Robert Parry.

If Syrian President Bashar al-Assad meets the same fate as Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi or Iraq’s Saddam Hussein, much of Official Washington would rush out to some chic watering hole to celebrate – one more “bad guy” down, one more “regime change” notch on the belt. But the day after Damascus falls could mark the beginning of the end for the American Republic.

Is Merkel a CIA Asset ?

Is Merkel an asset for American intelligence, serving the geopolitical interests of Washington rather than the good of her own nation, or the wider good of Europe?

The claims that Merkel’s government knew about German state intelligence spying on behalf of the Americans against the country’s own industrial interests raise disturbing questions about the integrity of German government leaders.

The apparent betrayal of German national interests by Chancellor Angela Merkel is not only evident over the recent industrial spying scandal on behalf of America, the slavish pursuit by Merkel of Washington’s anti-Russian policy over Ukraine — in contradistinction to her country’s national interests — also cogently suggests that the chancellor is serving a foreign master.

4,811 Killed in Iraq during April

At least 4,811 people were killed in Iraq during April, and 1,358 were wounded. Of those 168 were killed in the last day or so. Meanwhile, the U.S. and Iraq are at odds over the arming of Sunnis and Kurds. All this comes as the European Union publicly acknowledges that the situation in Iraq is just getting worse.

According to the figures compiled on Antiwar.com during April, 1,631 civilians and security personnel were killed in Iraq during the month. The number of wounded civilians and security personnel reached 1,077 in the news reports used to compile these figures. At least 3,180 militants were reported killed as well, and another 281 militants were injured. The totals are 4,811 were killed and 1,358 were wounded. These should be considered low estimates.

Many Iraqis consider a proposed U.S. plan to directly arm Sunnis and Kurds a plot to split up the country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Splitting up the country, along ethnic lines, is something which think tanks in the US and Israel have recommended, because Iraq as a whole would be far more weakened, and easily swayed by outside influence, with such a split.

But it is obvious that US foreign policy here has been a catastrophic, epic fail for the Iraqi people.

Iraq turmoil today a consequence of 2003 invasion – ex-UN chief Annan

The fragile state Iraq is now in is directly linked to the US-led invasion of 2003, which happened without a US Security Council mandate, Kofi Annan, who was UN Secretary General between 1997 and 2006, told RT.

“You cannot disassociate the situation in Iraq today from the US intervention of 2003. Because not only did the intervention take place, but they dismantled the Iraqi Army, which was the tool of Saddam to maintain law and order,” Annan said in Oksana Boyko’s Worlds Apart show.

“The civil service, the Baathist Party were all [dismantled]. So the structures and state institutions vanished overnight, creating a very serious vacuum, which has led to where we are today. So I don't think anybody can argue with that. The link is clear,” he added.

Splitting Iraq: US Military Bill Would Redefine Kurds, Sunni Militias as Separate Country

In an attempt to limit the prospects for overseas meddling, US law requires foreign military aid to be delivered direct to host countries, as opposed to just any old armed faction the US wants to throw weapons at.

That might seem like a straightforward rule, but House Republicans are seeing a pretty straightforward way to circumvent it, announcing their intention to declare Iraqi Kurdistan, as well as some Iraqi Sunni Arab militias, as “countries” of their own for the sake of aid shipments.

The worse kept secret is the joint plans of Israel and their American stooges for a sneak attack on Iran. Since the deadly weapon facilities could not be found in Iraq, maybe they will be found in Iran? In the UK there is still no rush, it seems, to deliver law or justice to the situation after 100 years of betrayal.

Britain’s ferocious warmongering in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, and efforts to destabilize Syria, caused havoc in those countries and earned us a reputation for human misery making. This week our misbegotten chickens came home to roost in an unbearably distressing way as desperate refugee-migrants drowned at sea hundreds at a time.

Galeano Died — Revolution Goes On!

In Latin America, Eduardo Galeano was revered as a giant of letters, as a symbol of rebellion, of revolution, and of the fight for justice.

“Utopia is on the horizon,” Galeano once wrote. “I move two steps closer; it moves two steps further away. I walk another ten steps and the horizon runs ten steps further away. As much as I may walk, I’ll never reach it. So what’s the point of utopia? The point is this: to keep walking.”

Galeano told me that he was in love with two ladies, both splendid, both fragile, both tremendously desirable. One was called Utopia, the other, Reality.

Both are dangerous to the masters of the world, to Empire, because one gathers dreams, including dreams for a better world, while the other one bravely tells the truth.

Will Washington Kill Us All? — Paul Craig Roberts

The demonization of Russia and its leader by the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, Fox News, and the rest of the American Propaganda Ministry, by almost the entirety of the House and Senate, and by the White House makes reducing the threat of nuclear war impossible.

How much confidence do you have in Washington? How many times has Washington–especially the crazed neocons–been wrong?

Did you know that Washington keeps 450 nuclear ICBMs on “hair-trigger alert”? Washington thinks that this makes us “safe.” The reasoning, if it can be called reason, is that by being able to launch in a few minutes, no one will try to attack the US with nuclear weapons. US missiles are able to get on their way before the enemy’s missiles can reach the US to destroy ours.

If this makes you feel safe, you need to read Eric Schlosser’s book, Command and Control.

Iraqi Volunteers Find Israeli Weapons in ISIL Position. ISIL Supported by Saudi Arabia and Israel

According to Al-Mayadeen television, the Iraqi volunteer forces found Israeli-made weapons in an ISIL position in al-Karmah city in Anbar province.

The ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently control shrinking swathes of Syria and Iraq. They have threatened all communities, including Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Ezadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.

Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.

The ISIL has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.

Ex-CIA chief will be sentenced for leaking military secrets

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former CIA Director David Petraeus, whose career was destroyed by an extramarital affair with his biographer, was expected to be sentenced Thursday in federal court in Charlotte for giving her classified material while she was working on the book.

Petraeus will appear at the sentencing, which comes two months after he agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor count of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material.

The plea agreement carries a possible sentence of up to a year in prison. In court papers, prosecutors recommended two years of probation and a $40,000 fine. But the judge is not bound by that and could still impose a prison sentence.

The agreement was filed in Charlotte, where Paula Broadwell, the general's biographer and former lover, lives with her husband and children.

Time to Wake up to some Realities on the Iran Deal

Too many cooks spoil the broth, and that appears to be precisely what the Senate had in mind.

Evidently Obama has concluded that a veto-proof majority in both Houses stood behind the Foreign Relations Committee bill, and reluctantly conceded. But that wrests control of the process out of the hands of the Administration. The Iran deal may have died this afternoon.

To make sense of the events that have led to the current negotiations over Iran’s so-called nuclear ambitions, certain elemental realities should be highlighted:

Flashback - Abu Musab al-Zarqawi: The Dead Voice of "al Qaeda" in Iraq

"The Zarqawi PSYOP program is the most successful information campaign to date." -- Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, in an internal 2004 memo praising the propaganda campaign to hype the threat of Iraq's "terrorist mastermind" Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

I'm frankly amazed this Washington Post story from Monday hasn't gotten more play.

What it exposes is that Bush administration never stopped lying to the American people about the threats faced in Iraq. Just as it did with WMD before the war, the administration hyped the threat posed by Zarqawi during the occupation -- this time to make it seem as though Iraq were a vital part of the battle with Al Qaeda.

Iran urges India, China & Russia to counter NATO missile system

Iran has announced its readiness to cooperate with Russia, China and India on the issue of NATO’s missile shield and related threats from the military bloc, the head of its defense ministry said in Moscow.

“I’d like to support the idea of developing multifaceted defense cooperation between China, Iran, India and Russia to counter NATO eastwards expansion and installing a missile shield in Europe,” Hossein Dehghan said on Thursday, at an international security conference in Moscow.

Hours later Dehghan was cited by RIA Novosti as saying that Russia, China and Iran may hold tri-party defense talks.

“We discussed certain aspects of regional security. It was proposed to hold a trilateral meeting of Russia, Iran and China,” Dehghan said after meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu.

Conference on the Israel Lobby—Press Blackout at the Press Club

So, where were the reporters of the mainstream media? Where was C-SPAN during a week when Congress was on a holiday and their cameras were not preoccupied by Capitol Hill activities—its foremost priority? Apparently, the American people were only to see and hear the extreme views of AIPAC that do not even command the support of a majority of American Jews who do favor a two-state solution, along with a majority of Arab-Americans.

Organized by the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, which was launched about thirty years ago by a British Army Officer who served in World War II and two retired U.S. Ambassadors to countries in the Middle East (wrmea.org), the day-long program at the prestigious National Press Club should have been intriguing to reporters. After all, are they not interested in important, taboo-challenging presentations on a critical dimension of U.S. foreign and military policy?

After Rescuing Ukraine, US Taxpayers To Bail Out Iraq Next

Having generously (if not obliviously) stepped up to the plate to bail out Ukraine (with open-ended bond guarantees), US taxpayers are opening their wallets again - this time for Iraq. As Reuters reports, cheap oil has ravage Iraq's state finances just as the government faces rising military spending from the war it is waging against ISIS; and so it has decided to issue $5 billion in international bonds. However, Iraq is considering other ways to cover its budget deficit, including asking the IMF (i.e. US taxpayers) for relief funding and also requesting the controversial U.S. Export-Import Bank (US Taxpayers) finance the purchase of 10 planes from Boeing Co, which cost the government $500 million.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Fighting the Battle Against Mainstream Media Disinformation is Fighting Against War

The US has been waging war with its allies in Syria and Iraq for a while now. Yemen has also become a battle field, where war for democracy is being waged by… monarchies. Mahdi Nazemroaya highlights the irony of the situation:

“The House of Saud and a military coalition that consists mostly of anachronistic monarchies are claiming to bomb Yemen as a means of saving the Yemenite people and their transition to democracy. The irony should not be lost on observers that recognize that the Saudi-led coalition — consisting of the Kingdom of Morocco, UAE, Kuwait, Kingdom of Bahrain, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Sudan, and Saudi Arabia itself — is comprised of an unhealthy mixture of backward family dictatorships and corrupt governments that essentially are the antithesis of democracy.” (The War on Yemen: Where Oil and Geopolitics Mix)

Russia bashers eat crow as Putin wins Time Magazine poll

Vladimir Putin steals the show in TIME 100 reader’s poll

Western media did their best to hide Putin’s stratospheric popularity in their assigned propaganda task of demonizing Russia and Putin over the Ukrainian Western coup , replacing the Iran nuclear weapons threat hoax with the new Russian Bear threat one.

The biggest threat to our national security comes from treasonous cliques within our own ranks and their recent marriage over that last decade into the international corporate crime syndicates.

We are not really biased here at VT. It is just a simple observation to us… it is Putin and Lavrov all the way. No one can touch them and they own this piece of history, something that the spinmeisters cannot lay a glove on.

TIME Magazine Invaded by Kremlin Troll Army

Western media campaign to demonize Putin has failed to convince its target audience. The Western public are not buying the hysterical political agenda.
The iconic current affairs TIME magazine follows this week’s news that Russian President Vladimir Putin came top of the TIME 100 readers’ poll.

Western publics have now alternative media sources, ranging from foreign-based professional news services to a plethora of Western-based internet sites. The alternative scope is often critical of Western government policies and capable of ably exposing ulterior, hidden political agenda. In other words, the alternative news sources are often doing the proper job of journalism that is neglected by Western mainstream media who seem to be preoccupied with advancing the political objectives of their governments – no matter how unethical those objectives are.

The few prophetic voices we have, like Gideon Levy, will continue to remind us of the false prophets who have led us into the darkness.

As part of his mission, Levy came to Washington last week to speak at the National Press Club.

Levy came to Washington with the simple message that change in the situation between Israel and it neighbors will have to come from the U.S. He feels that Israel is a “lost case”. Change will not come from an Israeli society which “has surrounded itself with shields, with walls, not just physical walls but also mental walls.”

He sees three principles which allow “Israelis to live easily with the brutal tyranny that is the occupation”.

Hillary Clinton – the ‘Liberal’ Puppet for War

Hillary Clinton this week launched her bid for the US presidential elections in 2016.

Clinton’s Republican rivals or would-be rivals immediately fired the brickbats, accusing the 67-year-old former First Lady of being a «Washington insider» and the «embodiment of all that is wrong» in US politics.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is lambasted by Republicans as a «liberal».

Whether described as «liberal», «conservative» or «hawk» – all American presidential candidates are the same in practice. Puppets for sale.

The unintended irony of Clinton’s Republican detractors, who include rabid rightwing Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, as well as the maverick Senator Rand Paul, is that every single one of them will have to spend similar amounts of cash in their anticipated presidential campaigns.

Bomb Iran? Not now: bomb Yemen

“Operation Decisive Storm” – yet another Pentagon-style illegal war – has already plunged Yemen into the twin plagues of civil war and humanitarian disaster.

So what we have is the ‘Empire of Chaos’ ‘leading from behind’ in the war on Yemen and also de facto ‘leading from behind’ in the fight against ISIS/ISIL/Daesh; the ones doing the heavy lifting are Iraqi militias supported by Tehran. The hidden agenda is always – what else –chaos; be it across “Syraq” or inside Yemen. With an extra bonus; while Washington is engaged on striking a nuclear deal with Tehran, it also turbo-charges an alliance against Tehran using the House of Saud.

How the GOP Became the Israel Party

Bill Kristol and John McCain have replaced Robert Novak and Pat Buchanan in Republican foreign policy influence.

When the unexpectedly detailed P5+1 framework agreement with Iran was announced last Thursday, Illinois Republican Mark Kirk made a bizarre comment. “We all know” said the senator, that this is going to end with “a mushroom cloud somewhere near Tehran”—a result of Israel having to go to war to “clean up the mess” made by American and European negotiators. A few days earlier John McCain had expressed the wish that Israel “go rogue” and attack Iran in order to upend the Iran negotiations.

Emails reveal US officials undermining Blackwater case

The FBI agents have found out that senior officials in the US Justice Department intentionally attempted to undermine the case of Blackwater security guards’ fatal shooting of Iraqi civilians in 2007, internal emails revealed.

The FBI has planned to charge the American contractors with crimes, including weapons charges, manslaughter and attempted manslaughter that could send them to prison for the rest of their lives.

Several emails, obtained by the New York Times, however, revealed that the department’s senior officials were against the move and sought to drop some of the charges in an effort to lighten the sentences.

In September 2007, Blackwater security guards opened fire on unarmed Iraqi people near a bustling traffic circle with machine guns and grenade into Baghdad’s crowded Nisour Square, killing at least 17 people and wounding several others.

Partner or Pariah? Kerry Calls Lavrov for Help

Naming and shaming over the Iranian nuclear debacle will call out who just is the real pariah and who is the real partner to world peace.

Reading the Western news media is like swimming in a goldfish bowl. News one day gives way to some other transient story the next, and so on and on. With the result that if one were to rely on the Western media for understanding on any particular issue, there is faint chance of proper assimilation. This is because there is typically negligible context, perspective or continuity – as well as, of course, misleading spin and outright disinformation.

To illustrate: one of the most bizarre – unwittingly bizarre – recent news reports was how US Secretary of State John Kerry made an urgent call to Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov. Kerry reportedly needed Lavrov for help in clinching a breakthrough in the deadlocked nuclear negotiations with Iran.

Iran – The Story behind the Story

Allowing a country like Iran destroying the US hegemon’s power base by taking a sovereign decision to abandon the dollar for oil and gas trading – no way.

It would have meant the end of the dollar as the world’s chief reserve currency, and giving up the instrument of coercing the world into accepting Washington’s dictate, the tool that serves to dish out sanctions left and right – no way!

Washington’s seemingly blind and preposterous arrogance drives the closest allies into the ‘adversary’s camp. The FED (Federal Reserve Bank) announced on 2 April 2015 that it fined the German Commerz bank with 1.7 billion US dollars for dealing with Cuba, Sudan and Iran – Washington sanctioned countries.

When even the staunchest stooges of empire seek alliances in the East, the writing is on the wall, that the economic winds are shifting, that a tectonic sea-change is in the offing and that the Iran nuclear deal, one way or another, doesn’t really matter in the foreseeable future.

Yemen is the latest casualty of a neoconservative strategy commissioned by the US Army to ‘capitalise on Sunni-Shia conflict’ in the Middle East - the goal is nothing short of ‘Western dominance’

The war on Yemen appears to have been choreographed, by encouraging the Houthis to oust the former regime, with the express intention of creating conflict. It is a pattern which repeats time and time again, most recently with the creation and support of Islamic State (IS, ISIL, ISIS) by Israel, US and their allies including Saudi Arabia. The outcome will, yet again, be chaos and mayhem.

Between 2009 and 2013, including when Mrs. Clinton was secretary of state, the Clinton Foundation received at least $8.6 million from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, based in Kiev, Ukraine.

In 2008, Mr. Pinchuk made a five-year, $29 million commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative, a wing of the foundation that coordinates charitable projects and funding for them but doesn’t handle the money. The pledge was to fund a program to train future Ukrainian leaders and professionals “to modernize Ukraine,” according to the Clinton Foundation.

It said that if Mr. Pinchuk was lobbying the State Department about Ukraine, “this cannot be seen as anything but a good thing.”

The duplicitous and misleading title of the project establishing Israel's (City of London's) empire that used American post 9/11 (inside job) concocted anti-Muslim enmity, its resources, its military, economic, and political might that will become the dominant political power of the planet long after the United States has been destroyed and left held responsible for the horrors visited on the world via the so-called "war on terror".

Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich: Iran Nuclear Deal Differences

U.S and Tehran disagree over Sanctions lift.

Tehran accuses the U.S. of spinning the nuclear deal.

Iran was never in violation of the NPT.

Most importantly, we must think about (upholding) the International treaties.

International treaties are being held hostage by the west.

There has been a lot of interference inside Iran by Washington. The nuclear issue is just an excuse to undermine the Islamic Republic and has very little to do with anything else.

Russia is opposed to snap back inspections and phased out sanctions.

Russia is a UN Security Council member and is present in the negotiations.

Devil is in Western Interpretation of Iran Nuclear Deal

A closer look at the details of the so-called framework accord to emerge from Lausanne shows that Iran falls short on both counts of sanctions removal and nuclear rights.

After investing so much political capital in achieving a nuclear deal, it is understandable that all sides of the stand-off would claim the Lausanne accord arrived at this week to be an “achievement”.

However, a closer look at the details of the so-called framework accord to emerge from Lausanne shows that Iran falls short on both counts of sanctions removal and nuclear rights.

Imperialist fantasies: UK policy and the bloody legacy of Iraq

For better or worse, Iraq will always be seen as Tony Blair's war – or rather, as George Bush junior finishing the job his father started and for which Blair willingly supplied British arms, troops and money (all £8.4 billion of it). The Labour Party is still on some level labouring under the shadow of the Iraq war, which may partially explain Ed Miliband's blocking of all military intervention in Syria (though the Labour leader did support the NATO-led strategy to remove Gaddafi in Libya and, more recently, has backed limited airstrikes on ISIS targets in Iraq).

The hidden hand behind the Islamic State militants? Saddam Hussein’s.

On Easter no less! He's back!

“A lot of people think of the Islamic State as a terrorist group, and it’s not useful,” Hassan said. “It is a terrorist group, but it is more than that. It is a homegrown Iraqi insurgency, and it is organic to Iraq.”

Yemen – the Big Picture

As usual, western media are deliberately confusing in communicating on the latest Mid-East conflict which eventually led to the recent atrocious bombing of Yemen by the US-directed Saudi alliance, including Qatar and other Gulf monarchies. They are proxies, to be sure, for their Washington masters. My heart is bleeding for Yemen, a country of warm and generous people I got to know well, working with them in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Yemen, like Ukraine, is just another square on the geopolitical chess board which the exceptional nation aims to dominate.

It is certainly true, where ever the US and its NATO cronies put their heavy boots, they create lasting misery and chaos

The Crimes the New York Times Believes Should Go Unpunished

The New York Times recently published an editorial lamenting the "shameful impunity of the Islamic State" and encouraging the United Nations Security Council to refer the group's crimes to the International Criminal Court (I.C.C.). The editorial, titled "The Crimes of Terrorists" (4/2/2015), should more accurately be titled "The Crimes of the U.S. and Its Allies Should Go Unpunished."

Sociopath Karl Rove unapologetic over genocidal Iraq war

The former Bush administration Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove has said that he has no regrets about the genocidal war in Iraq which cost the lives of more than a million Iraqis and thousands of American soldiers.

Raimondo: The Iran Deal

It’s a good one – but can it survive the US Congress?

Israel has been threatening to attack Iran unilaterally for years, including during these negotiations, and they are not above launching a provocation – one that will ignite a conflict that would envelope the entire Middle East and much of the world.

As I said in my last column, the US Congress is the catch, the fly in the ointment that could nix this deal and lead us down the path to another war in the Middle East. Nothing has been signed. What we have is a framework, one that will lead to a fuller agreement in June – if Congress doesn’t step in and stop it.

University wimps buckle under Zionist pressure to kill ground-breaking conference

Southampton University, after giving permission to hold a ground-breaking academic conference on International Law and the State of Israel, has been bullied into cancelling.

“The University claims that it does not have enough resources to mitigate the risks despite a clear statement from the Police confirming that they are able to deal with the protest and ensure the security of the event...."

The university must fulfill its legal obligation to protect free speech and academic discussion...

The Global siege on Israel: a report from the World Social Forum

The closing of this multi-billion-dollar company can be one of the greatest BDS victories yet.

In June, 2010, when Israeli forces attacked unarmed aid ships of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, killing ten passengers (including one who died this year from injuries), dockworkers around the world refused to unload or load Israeli ships or cargo.

Based on the results in the US, we believe that if ten ports worldwide are closed to Zim, the company’s losses may cause it to close its doors. If Zim and the state of Israel are worried that this movement may become infectious, we can all be proud to spread the virus.

Menendez is Israel lobby’s asset in US Senate

The Senate panel is scheduled to vote on April 14 on the legislation he co-authored with Corker demanding congressional review of an Iran agreement.

Israel lobby influences “the United States’ foreign policy by intervention with certain of their assets within the Senate,”

Harris said if you look at the people who are opposed to normalizing relationships with Iran and lifting the sanctions against the Islamic Republic, “you’ll find that among the biggest campaign contributors are usually AIPAC and other assets that Israel lobby dictates and controls.”

Shattered — Nothing is Right in the Middle East

The West worked very hard to turn the Middle East into what it is now. It took centuries to transfigure this culturally deep and great part of the world into the horror show. But it is done!

There is nothing, absolutely nothing right in the Middle East these days. There seems to be no hope left, and no fervor. All that was pure was dragged through filth. All that was great here was stolen or smashed by the outsiders. Enthusiasm had been ridiculed, then drowned, or burned to ashes, or shattered by tanks and missiles.

Asked by Veteran to Apologize for Horrors of Iraq War, Karl Rove Says No

Karl Rove may be a lot of things, but being sorry for the 2003 invasion of Iraq is not one of them.

A 32-year-old Iraq war veteran confronted Rove at the University of Connecticut this week, calling on the former senior advisor to President George W. Bush to apologize for the horrors of that war and its lingering effects both at home and abroad.

Karl Rove tells Iraq veteran: ‘Sorry for what you went through,’ but I won’t apologize for the war

An Iraq war veteran confronted former White House adviser Karl Rove during a speaking engagement on Tuesday and demanded he apologize for the war, the Hartford Courant reported.

“I have taken responsibility for my actions and dealt with my demons while advocating for a peaceful resolution of a war that was an act of aggression with no clear goal,” said the former soldier, who identified himself as Ryan Henowitz. “Can you take responsibility and apologize for your decision in sending a generation to lose their humanity and deal with the horrors of war, which you have never had the courage to face? Will you apologize to the millions of fathers and mothers who lost their children on both sides of this useless war?”

Webmaster's Commentary:

What an incredible piece of work this man is, absolutely, and contemptuously refusing to take responsibility for being one of the architects of a war which was, ultimately, all about Iraq's oil, and selling it only in US dollars!!

He and the rest of that unholy, sociopathic quintet, Bush, Rusmfeld, Rice, Cheney, should be shunned for the rest of their miserable lives for lying us into a war which absolutely shattered Iraq, and devolved into a horrific civil war between religious factions, which continues to this day.

But of course, their good buddies, companies like Haliburton, etc., made out like bandits, charging the US government exorbitant amounts of money for shoddy work that many times dissolved shortly after it had been built, and creating burn pits which they assured soldiers attending those pits that there were no safety issues. Many of these men and women are now in the grip of severe, life threatening health issues, and yet the US military will not acknowledge that the problems exist.

But hey, Turdblossom; (that isn't my creation; that was George Bush's nickname for him!!) Not one of the companies making huge war bucks off the Iraq war gave a damn about how many people got killed or maimed for life, as long as the money poured in.

You may have had a conscience at one point, but I would suggest you had it surgically removed, when you realized what an obstacle it is to making money.

And by the way, that last sentence quoted above is a complete and outright lie: " We should be proud of what we were able to do in Iraq and we should be sorry that we left them alone, because when we left them, things deteriorated.”

Does Rove think, for one moment, that Americans have forgotten Muktada Al Sadr, the Shiite Iranian cleric, who founded the Mahdi Army, and threatened that if all Americans were not out of Iraq by December 31, 2011, all American military and civilian contractors would be fair game?!?

It is apparent that the US military took this guy, and his military resources , at their word, and left Iraq.

Clueless In The Middle East

"The Iran that we're currently crippling with sanctions and periodically threatening to bomb is now our...I don't wanna say ally," Stewart said. "Battle buddy?"

At the same time, America supported a coalition led by Saudi Arabia striking Iranian-backed fighters in another Middle Eastern nation, Yemen.

"Holy shit!" Stewart said. "It took decades of destablizing conflict, but we finally figured out how to wage a proxy war against ourselves."

Yemen Echoes of 1930s Aggression and Descent into Barbarism

The latest Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen, overseen by Washington, has been condemned by Iran, Russia and China.

Both the Arab League and the United Nations have fully transformed themselves into the ill-fated League of Nations that more than 70 years ago disgraced itself into oblivion when it failed to condemn foreign aggressions that eventually led to the cataclysm of World War Two.

As delegates gathered in Egypt’s resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh for the Arab League last weekend, nearly half of its member states were at the same time openly engaged in an aerial blitz on one of the League’s weakest countries – Yemen.

In Yemen, and Middle East, U.S. Needs to Learn When to Quit

Author’s note: The New York Times’ Room For Debate poses the question “Is Yemen America’s fight?” and asks whether the United States should be involved in regional efforts to fight the Houthis in Yemen.

Here’s my short essay on why the US has no business being there – and why Washington needs to rein in the Saudis before they embroil us all in an even bigger mess.

At the rate the Saudis are escalating, any full-on war in Yemen will cripple the entire Arabian Peninsula, and that would be a disaster for all key U.S. policy interests in the region.
