Auschwitz guard, now 93, charged with 300,000 counts of accessory to murder

German prosecutors have charged a 93-year-old man with 300,000 counts of accessory to murder for his service as a Nazi SS guard at Auschwitz. Oskar Groening of Hannover, Germany, has acknowledged that he was a guard at Auschwitz but said he did not personally commit any of the atrocities, The Associated Press reported Monday.

He was a guard at the concentration camp in May-June 1944. Some 425,000 Hungarian Jews came to Auschwitz during that time; about 300,000 died in its gas chambers.

Groening, who reportedly is in good health, is one of about 30 former Auschwitz guards who German federal investigators recommended to state prosecutors to file charges against following the conviction of John Demjanjuk, who died while his case was under appeal.

Some 20 Auschwitz victims and their families are co-plaintiffs in the case against Groening, according to AP.

Merkel Says No Shift After German Anti-Euro Party Surges

Chancellor Angela Merkel said an electoral surge by Germany’s anti-euro party won’t dictate her policies after it advanced in a region mostly dominated by her Christian Democrats since the Berlin Wall fell 25 years ago.

Alternative for Germany swept into two eastern state parliaments yesterday, championing positions from breaking up the euro area to promoting three-child families and fighting crime on Germany’s eastern border. The party, known by the initials AfD in German, took 12.2 percent in Brandenburg and 10.6 percent in Thuringia after winning its first state seats in Saxony last month.

Five German Telecom Companies Hacked by The NSA and The GCHQ

We knew already that Germany was a prime target for electronic espionage orchestrated by the American National Security Agency (NSA) and its British equivalent, the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ). According to the German Magazine, Der Spiegel, based on documents provided by Edward Snowden, 500 million communications (telephone, email, SMS) were being intercepted every month before the scandal broke out.

However, a new investigation published on Saturday, September 13, by the German magazine, seems to provide additional details on the technicalities of the espionage which was, apparently, organized with the complicity of the German secret services. Der Spiegel ensures that the NSA and the GCHQ have clandestine access to the networks of at least five German companies: Deutsche Telekom, Netcologne, Stellar, and Cetel IABG. These companies, in fact, operate much of the German telecommunications infrastructure.

Listening to Lavrov giving up on the West

Again, the prevailing sense is one of disgust, bewilderment, and fatigue. Though somebody as diplomatic as Lavrov will never say the, the general reaction is clearly "you guys are both hopeless and in decline; we don't need, you, goodbye". This is said without anger, mostly with sadness, really.

I don't think that Russian diplomats will make a big anti-western statement at the UN or anywhere else. The opposite of love is not hatred, but indifference. And Russian officials will continue to speak of "our partners" or even "our friends", but while this nice sounding rhetoric will continue, relations with the West will gradually cease to be a priority for the Russian diplomacy, business community and even general public. In fact, Russia is already building a multi-polar world and if the West wants no part of it - tough. The Russians know that the West cannot prevent the emergence of this new world, and they don't really care if they refuse accept this reality or play by the new rules.

U.S. Fear/War Mongers Win This Round

The fear/war mongers got to the New York Times editorial board between May 23, 2013 and September 10, 2014. The Times and President Obama both gave in to the wrong people.

The American public doesn’t want to go to war unless there is something out there that frightens them.

This explains why all of our wars have been preceded by dire warnings of what will happen if we don’t militarily engage the enemy.
In President Obama’s Wednesday night speech, he repudiated his own caution and prudence by falling in line with those who think there is no fear out there that war cannot overcome.

The New York Times editorial board sonorously endorsed the President’s decision under a headline that informs the nation that the drums of war have had their effect: “The Attack on ISIS Expands to Syria,”

Sep 11 19:57

Obama takes hypocrisy to new high levels

In laying out his plans to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIS, President Obama said this: “America, our endless blessings bestow an enduring burden. But as Americans, we welcome our responsibility to lead. From Europe to Asia, from the far reaches of Africa to war-torn capitals of the Middle East, we stand for freedom, for justice, for dignity. These are values that have guided our nation since its founding.”

There’s an old English, somewhat vulgar, four-letter word which in my view sums up that statement. CRAP. (The dictionary definition of it is “excrement, rubbish, dirt, worthless nonsense.”)

An informed visitor from another planet who listened to Obama would scratch his head and say, “Has the president not heard about the occupied and oppressed Palestinians and their long struggle for freedom, justice and dignity?”

remember, everyone, when things get heated, to CALM DOWN.

there is a point in any conflictual communication where one feels one absolutely must raise one's (virtual) voice, lose one's cool; where not to do so is a detriment to oneself and the meaning in one's life.

soon as the emotional barbs are answered in kind, one might as well give up. 'Innocent until proven guilty' -- how one feels and where one draws the line of acceptable stretching of the truth is not as important.

-- 'to protect my honor' or to 'back up my principles' or 'to protect' others -- worse, to 'not lose face' --

these are the game changers, the seemingly unique and rare set of events that will suddenly convince a large number of people to get involved, people who steadfastly opposed getting involved up to that point.

Putin, not Ukraine, is Vexing America

It is not about Russian aggression.

It is about Putin being an independent world leader who is not bowing down to American imperial dictate.

Forget about alleged Russian aggression and land grabbing in Ukraine – the real problem for the United States is Vladimir Putin. To be more precise, the real problem is a strong, independent Russia under the leadership of President Putin, a Russia that stands up for its national rights, respect for international norms and which is not prepared to simply roll over to placate American hegemonic selfish interests...

The 9/11 Triple Cross

Three major thesis are in competition concerning the culprit of the 9/11 attacks:

1. Islam Job: the official conclusion of the 9/11 Commission, blaming Muslim terrorists in general, and Osama bin Laden in particular;
2. Inside Job: the dominant thesis within the so-called 9/11 Truth movement, which accuses the American government, or a faction within the American Deep State;
3. Mossad Job: the rising alternative thesis within the community of truth seekers, which claim that the masterminds were a Zionist network close to the Israeli Likud.
There are variations on each thesis and middle grounds between them, but three camps can clearly be distinguished: Acknowledging this reality, by renouncing the bipolar vision of an information warfare between official liars and 9/11 truthers, and paying attention to the debate (or absence of the debate) between Inside-jobbers and Mossad-jobbers, is the first step toward a paradigm shift in “9/11ology”.

Austria and Hitler: How 'The Sound of Music' Distorts History

The Sound of Music is a popular, tuneful and enduring American film. But its portrayal of history, and especially its depiction of the 1938 union of Austria with the German Reich is a gross distortion of reality. Saker's update on Ukraine situation Sep 4, 23:53 UTC

Military situation:

I think that there is a second expression which now can be used without exaggeration: all the signs are that the JRF have reached their breaking point: this is the moment when a military force suddenly and completely collapses, like a damn which blows out under the pressure of water. The JRF is not retreating on one, two or even three directions, it is retreating everywhere (except north of Lugansk). Entire battalions are leaving the front under orders of their battalion commanders and without the approval of the Junta leaders. At least one such battalion commander is already being judged for desertion. The entire Ukie leadership seems to be in a panic mode, especially Iatseniuk and Kolomoiski, while the Nazis are mad as hell at the Poroshenko administration. There are constant rumors of an anti-Poroshenko coup by outraged Nazi nationalists. And then, there are the absolutely staggering Ukrainian losses. There is one such list which I reader sent me who, according to my reader, was published on Zero Hedge, but I could not find it there. I did find it here though:

Our Cold War With Russia Could Turn Hot

As the NATO summit approaches, and Ukraine’s ruthless war on its eastern provinces sets off an exodus of nearly a million refugees to Russia, war hysteria in the West is reaching epic proportions. The pundits are up in arms: miffed that the long-awaited Russia invasion has failed to materialize, they are now declaring it happened anyway – it’s a "stealth" invasion, i.e. the kind only a neocon can see. There has to have been a Russian invasion, because, after all, the Ukrainians are losing, and it can’t be because their soldiers are deserting in droves or turning tail and running at the prospect of having to shoot their fellow countrymen.

German Supermarket Giants Demand Return to GMO-Free Fed Poultry

Germany’s top supermarkets, the powerhouses of Europe when it comes to retail, have delivered a blow to the biotech industry by forcing the German poultry industry to return to the use of non-GMO feed.

It was announced last Thursday that the German supermarkets, with a broad consensus, recently demanded from the German Poultry Association (ZDG) to stop using GMO feed for both egg and poultry meat production, starting from January 1st 2015. That is the date when the retailers want to receive GMO-free fed products again, meaning poultry suppliers will have to rush to get their feed supply chains free from GMO feed once more.

Russia’s “Invasion” of Ukraine. Memorandum to Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, by Veterans of U.S. Intelligence

Alarmed at the anti-Russian hysteria sweeping Official Washington – and the specter of a new Cold War – U.S. intelligence veterans took the unusual step of sending this Aug. 30 memo to German Chancellor Merkel challenging the reliability of Ukrainian and U.S. media claims about a Russian “invasion.”

Ex-NSA Director, US Intelligence Veterans Write Open Letter To Merkel To Avoid All-Out Ukraine War

"We the undersigned are longtime veterans of U.S. intelligence. We take the unusual step of writing this open letter to you to ensure that you have an opportunity to be briefed on our views prior to the NATO summit on September 4-5. You need to know, for example, that accusations of a major Russian "invasion" of Ukraine appear not to be supported by reliable intelligence. Rather, the "intelligence" seems to be of the same dubious, politically "fixed" kind used 12 years ago to "justify" the U.S.-led attack on Iraq. We saw no credible evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq then; we see no credible evidence of a Russian invasion now. Twelve years ago, former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, mindful of the flimsiness of the evidence on Iraqi WMD, refused to join in the attack on Iraq. In our view, you should be appropriately suspicions of charges made by the US State Department and NATO officials alleging a Russian invasion of Ukraine."

What's even more surprising, however, is that Germany is actually the biggest importer of natural gas from Russia. That places it well ahead of even Ukraine, which imported about 25 billion cubic meters.

Der Spiegel: German Chancellor Merkel plans to resign

According to an article of the German Der Spiegel magazine, which cites senior officials of the German government and the Christian Democratic party, Angela Merkel will be the first chancellor since 1949 to leave office on her own accord.

Such a move would come as a major shock in her country, where Mrs Merkel remains exceptionally popular with voters and it would certainly affect Europe, where she is considered the continent’s most powerful leader.

The article alleges that the first female Chancellor of Germany doesn’t want to complete her third term and she is planning to resign before the elections due in 2017, as she is interested in a new role as UN Secretary-General or President of the European Council.

Anthony Lawson : The Crocodile Tears of the Press Corps Crying: Freedom!

As we approach the 13th anniversary of the events that changed the world, forever, if seems appropriate to list some examples of what the mainstream media—with all of its freedoms intact, at least in those days—totally ignored or dismissed as being wild conspiracy theories. I’m talking about the most obvious anomalies regarding the attacks of September 11th, 2001. Even after the 9/11 Commission Report was released, how many so-called journalists questioned these anomalies? So I am going to redress that, in retrospect, with a short sample of some of the headlines that never saw the light of day, but should have.

Considering the enormity of the events and the fact that Benjamin Netanyahu went on record on the day, stating: “It’s very good. Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy....” Why was this headline not seen anywhere?

Miko Peled # Zionism Must Go #Free Palestine, End the Occupation

Miko Peled talks of Changing the Conversation on Palestine.

"Connecting Gaza back to Palestine"

He began by saying: “To understand what happened in Gaza recently, you must go back to Balfour and to 1947”

“It is impossible to talk about Gaza, without talking about 1947 and 1948 and so on…”

He notes an attempt is being made to isolate Gaza from the rest of Palestine. Which is what Israel, the U.S. and the Europeans have been doing. By isolating it, they are stopping the solution.

Palestine is not Gaza and the West Bank. Palestine is the Galilee, it is Jerusalem, it is Jaffa and it is Haifa, it is the entire country, he notes.

The Peace talks and all these so-called efforts is an attempt to bring the Palestinians to surrender. But, the Palestinians will not surrender. And Hamas will not go away.

Hamas is an resistance organization. It was established as a result of a brutal Oppression and Occupation.

Mainstream media steps up anti-Russia propaganda on Ukraine

With regard to the goings-on in Ukraine, I have heard quite a few European and American voices piping in, saying that, yes, Washington and Kiev are fabricating an entirely fictional version of events for propaganda purposes, but then so are the Russians. They appear to assume that if their corporate media is infested with mendacious, incompetent buffoons who are only too happy to repeat the party line, then the Russians must be same or worse.

The reality is quite different. While there is a virtual news blackout with regard to Ukraine in the West, with little being shown beyond pictures of talking heads in Washington and Kiev, the media coverage in Russia is relentless, with daily bulletins describing troop movements, up-to-date maps of the conflict zones, and lots of eye-witness testimony, commentary and analysis.

EU Sanctions Boomerang – Poor leadership once again

What I am beginning to see now, which I had missed earlier, was an unofficial roll-out of the “economic war” version of that same preemptive strike policy. Some elites in a boardroom somewhere decided that we had the same right to attack countries that we felt could be an economic threat in the future, that it would be cheaper and safer to attack them now. Since we had already given ourselves permission to attack militarily, the elites also assumed the right to conduct first-strike economic wars and to use the military in whatever capacity needed.

One of the clues that woke me up to this was the obvious US play to steer Europe away from Russian energy supplies and replacing them with pipe-lined resources from the Persian Gulf. Hence, there was a need to take Syria out to eliminate the Russian base there, and control the pipeline territory to the Eastern Mediterranean. Over 170,000 Syrians have been murdered in the process.

Washington Sabotages Russian/Ukrainian Summit

On Monday, Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko met in Minsk. It was their first official bilateral meeting. They discussed relevant geopolitical issues. Key is resolving Southeastern Ukraine’s ongoing conflict.
Putin urges doing it peacefully. Poroshenko’s continues war without mercy. He deplores democracy. He wants freedom fighting self-defense forces crushed. He wants unchallenged hardline rule.
He lied saying his visit was “to stop the bloodshed and to start the process of finding a political compromise. The interests of the people of Donbass should and will be taken into account.”
His actions speak louder than words. Peace is an executive decision away. He can make it by calling off his dogs. He can choose diplomacy over confrontation. He can order a ceasefire. He can do so straightaway. He can meet face-to-face with Southeastern Ukrainian leaders. He can respect their democratic credentials. He can listen to their demands.

The very thought that an organization could call itself Christian and demand that Christians support the wanton slaughter of children and mothers and fathers caught like animals in a cage and mercilessly shot to death borders on the actions of human madness. Russia Sanctions Hit German Consumers, “Economic Expectations Completely Collapse”

Gfk reports that the sub-index of economic expectations, “in light of the intensified state of international affairs, completely collapses.”

Since there appears to be no sustainable solution to any of the trouble spots, consumers are showing increased uncertainty about the possible consequences for the German economy, Gfk reports. “Particularly the sanctions against Russia, which have already hit exports noticeably, could become a real danger for the German economy.”

The Russian prison authorities surprised the international community this morning, by announcing that they would finally set free on Friday, the last German prisoner of war from the Second World War. 84-year old Reinhard Kunze, was only 14 years old when he was captured by Soviet troops during the Battle of Berlin, in January 1945, and was detained for the last 69 years in various Soviet and Russian forced labor camps. FLASHBACK - Judea Declares War on Germany

Click for larger image

Webmaster's Commentary:

Posted at reader request: Today Israel is screaming about how "unfair" the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions movement is to "poor suffering Israel" (reg Trademark Tel Aviv). but history shows that the same people have never hesitated to use boycotts against others, as this newspaper from 1933 shows.

Following their defeat in WW1, Germany had been forced to accept a privately-owned central bank under the Treaty of Versailles. This privately-owned bank looted the German people and eventually led to the runaway inflation of the Wiemar Republic. When Hitler came to power he kicked out the private central bankers and returned control of the currency to the government. This triggered an economic boom in Germany which would later be described as the "German Miracle" and lead to TIME Magazine making Hitler their Man of the Year for the amazing economic changes he had brought to Germany.

Those changes, of course, were a direct threat to the private central banks, both because citizens in other countries wondered why they could not have the same system of government-issued currency that was working so well for Germany (especially here in the United States, which had been started a with government-issued currency), and because nations enslaved to private central banks cannot economically compete with nations not so encumbered and plundered.

So, the cartel of private central bankers organized a global boycott against the new German monetary system almost the moment it was born, to ruin Germany and drive it back into the clutches of the private central bankers. It was this economic war that set the stage for the emergence of WW2, while the financial predations of the Rothschilds bankers became the foundation of the German peoples' animosity towards Jews.

As a side note, the article gives the total Jewish population of Germany as just over half a million, quite a far cry from the claimed six million supposedly exterminated by the Nazis.

JIM WILLIE BOMBSHELL: IT HAS BEGUN- GERMANY TO BREAK FROM US/UK, JOIN RUSSIA/CHINA ALLIANCE! . . . remember where you first heard this — yesterday, actually :)

The Germans have had enough, fed up with destructive US activities of all kinds. For the last few months, they have been laying out their indictment, their justification, their reasons to abandon the corrupt US-UK crowd. The bank wreckage, the market rigging, the endless wars, the sanctions which backfire, the sham monetary policy, the economic sabotage, the spying, the gold gimmicks, it has finally reached a critical level.

Germany has begun to move East in full view. Only the deaf dumb and blind cannot notice, and they will probably never notice. They are fodder.
The awaited signals seen by the Jackass have finally arrived.

Berlin is outraged by clear USGovt spying, and in process of conducting a Gold audit among their population. Germany is building motives to split from the Euro Monetary Union (common Euro currency) by forging stronger open ties with Russia & China. The justification is becoming plainly laid out, in four perceived indictment charges.

‘Diplomatic earthquake’ as Germany halts spy cooperation with US

The German government has instructed its intelligence agencies to limit their cooperation with their American counterparts “to the bare essentials” until further notice, according to media reports. The move follows news that Berlin requested on Thursday the immediate removal from Germany of the United States Central Intelligence Agency chief of station —essentially the top American official in the country. The request came after two German citizens, one working for the BND, Germany’s main external intelligence organization, and one working for the country’s Federal Ministry of Defense, were allegedly found to have been secretly spying for the US. German media reported on Thursday that the temporary halt in Berlin’s intelligence collaboration with Washington applies across the spectrum, with the exception of areas directly affecting tactical security concerns for Germany, such as the protection of its troops in Afghanistan, or defending against immediate terrorist threats.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to the Obama Administration: diplomatic stupidity...should be painful, and this administration has no other people upon which they can lay the blame for this.

Germany Instructs Its Companies To Limit Cooperation, Procurement Orders With The US

Congratulations America: after severing ties with Russia, crushing cordial relations with China (leading to this stunning announcement by China's president), alienating France (which is now openly calling for an end to the petrodollar), the Obama administration - following not one, not two, but three spying scandals in just the past year - has managed to sour relations with Germany to a point where one wonders just who is a remaining US ally in Europe these days.

German MP who spoke out against cannabis use admits taking crystal meth to 'improve my performance'

German MP Michael Hartmann has revealed that he took crystal meth in a bid to sharpen up at work.

Hartmann, the interior policy expert for the Social Democrats, had his Berlin apartment searched for drugs by police on Wednesday and his lawyer later admitted that he once bought and consumed crystal meth in 2013.

His lawyer stressed that Hartmann, who has been a vocal anti-cannabis campaigner, was not addicted to crystal meth and only took it for around a month to ‘improve performance’ at work , according to The Local.

His lawyer said: 'Without wishing to excuse his misconduct, he explains it by saying that he hoped at that time to be more efficient through drug use.'

Police searched the 51-year-old’s home after a surveillance team saw him buying the drug.

Germany: “We.re still America’s bitch no matter how much they screw with us.”

Steinmeier took the chance to comment on Thursday’s decision to ask the US representative to leave German territory due to the spying scandal. Steinmeier claims this was a breach of trust between the partners but that he does not see any alternative than to co-operate with the United States.

"And tell the New York Fed they can keep our gold. It's really no big deal, after all!"

U.S. Out of Germany

If Germany hasn't had enough, we in the United States sure have.

Despite the supposed ending of World War II, the U.S. still keeps over 40,000 armed soldiers permanently in Germany.

Despite the ending of the Cold War, the U.S. still spies on the German government with relentless malevolence and incompetence, building on the fine tradition in which the CIA was created.

Germany has kicked out the latest CIA "station chief" -- a job title that seems to give one's career the longevity and utility of a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts.

Does Germany need a better CIA station chief? A reformed NSA? A properly reviewed and vetted U.S. occupation?

What does Germany get out of this deal?

White House won’t comment on expulsion of top spy from Germany

The White House Thursday refused to comment on reports Germany had expelled its top spy in the country over an espionage row, but stressed intelligence ties between the two nations were vital.

Germany took the shock move after investigating two German men alleged to be acting as double agents for US intelligence, the latest twist in a long running showdown over American covert activity in the country.

“We have seen these reports and have no comment on a purported intelligence matter,” said National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden.

“However, our security and intelligence relationship with Germany is a very important one and it keeps Germans and Americans safe,” Hayden said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Of COURSE, the US had no comment; what were the spokesdorks supposed to say on a matter of this magnitude?!?

Spying on one's alleged enemies is one thing; but spying on one of your allegedly geopolitically BFFs?!? That's tasteless, crude, and insulting.

Angela Merkel has to be steaming right now; and the big question now is, how will Germany actually respond as a nation to this?!?

I can guarantee the Obama administration one thing: it won't be pretty, coming hard on the heels of the previous spy scandal regarding Germany this year.

Germany Blesses “Bail-In” Deposit Confiscation Plan For Failing EU Banks

One year earlier than required, the German government approved plans to force creditors into propping up struggling banks across Europe. As WSJ reports, Germany “leads the way” in Europe by implementing European rules quickly and “creates instruments that allow the winding-down of big systemically relevant institutions without putting the financial stability at risk.” What this means is that taxpayers (theoretically) will not be on the hook (though in reality we are sure the mutually assured destruction defense will be played – especially if Deutsche runs into problems) but as German authorities explain, “This ensures that in times of crisis mainly owners and creditors will contribute to solving the crisis, and not taxpayers.” As a gentle reminder – creditors includes depositors… remember Cyprus?

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Hey, if the FED can take our gold, then the banks can take your savings accounts! Fair is fair!!"

Second US Spy Busted In Germany In One Week

It just hasn't been a good week for the CIA. A year after Edward Snowden revealed that the US was bugging Angela Merkel's cell phone, first one then, moments ago, Suddeutsche Zeitung revealed that a second "spy case" involving the US (read CIA) have been revealed. According to SZ, an unidentified man working in military-related area likely to be questioned today over suspicion of spying for a U.S. intelligence service in Germany. The home and office of the suspect were being searched in Berlin area. SZ adds that the case is more serious than unrelated allegations against double agent at BND Federal Intelligence Service that emerged last week.

German Man Arrested as Spy Implicates U.S.

In the latest turn in the yearlong tensions with Germany over American spying, a German man was arrested this week on suspicion of passing secret documents to a foreign power, believed to be the United States. The American ambassador, John B. Emerson, was summoned to the Foreign Office here and urged to help with what German officials called a swift clarification of the case.

The arrest came as Washington and Berlin were trying to put to rest a year of strains over the National Security Agency’s monitoring of Germans’ electronic data, including Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cellphone, and just months after the collapse of an effort by Germany to strike a “no spy” accord with the White House.

Merkel dismayed, disappointed at spy scandal between Germany and US

The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, currently visiting China, looks "dismayed and disappointed" in the wake of the latest spy scandal to break out in Germany earlier this week, the Spiegel Online newspaper reports, quoting a source within the German delegation in China.

The scandal may deal a serious blow to America’s reputation in Germany, the source said.

Germany's Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has demanded explanations from Washington following the arrest of a suspected US spy in Germany.

If the suspicions are proved, then it’s no trifling matter, he said during his visit to Mongolia on Sunday.

Steinmeier urged Washington to contribute to the speedy clarification of all circumstances surrounding the affair.

The German Interior Minister, Thomas de Maisiere, for his part told Germany’s Bild newspaper he expected the White House to voice its position and come up with an assessment of the incident.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Welcome to our world, Chancellor Merkel: American citizens who have done nothing wrong are constantly surveilled every day; and yet, with all the data the NSA collects, it couldn't see the current meltdown in Iraq and Syria coming.

And to do this to one of the (potentially formerly) staunchest European allies of the US?!?

This really, really bites.

Germany Holds Spy Suspect as U.S. Espionage Reports Swirl

German authorities are pursuing an espionage probe against a man identified by media as a German intelligence officer who may have passed secrets to the U.S.

Federal prosecutors said yesterday that a 31-year-old German was arrested on July 2 on suspicion of spying for an unidentified foreign power. Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokesman, Steffen Seibert, called the case “a serious matter,” declining to elaborate.

The Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, citing government officials it didn’t identify, reported today that the man in custody is suspected of informing U.S. agents about an inquiry by German lawmakers into the National Security Agency.

Establishment is Afraid of End The Fed Movement in Germany

Webmaster's Commentary:

Check out 4:40 where they report that the German media is declaring anyone opposed to private central banking is an anti-Semite! This is a repeat of an editorial we saw here in the US a few weeks back that claimed a desire to live free of debt was anti-Semitism, and a very angry email I received that "reminded" me that the Talmud says Hod gave the Jews all the money on Earth and the Goyim may only borrow it at interest!

Germany is NSA’s primary host of surveillance architecture in Europe – report

The US National Security Agency has turned Germany into its most important base for surveillance operations in Europe, developing an “intimate relationship” over the past 13 years, Der Spiegel revealed.

The NSA has not only been spying on German citizens, but the country has also become home to the agency’s key data collection centers in Europe, German magazine Der Spiegel revealed on its website Wednesday in an article based on the analysis of documents leaked by whistleblower Edward Snowden and information from other sources.

“No other country in Europe plays host to a secret NSA surveillance architecture like the one in Germany…In 2007, the NSA claimed to have at least a dozen active collection sites in Germany,” Der Spiegel said.

Guenter Grass, German Nobel Winner, Criticizes Israel Over Iran Tensions

"The nuclear power Israel is endangering the already fragile world peace," Grass wrote in his poem titled:

"What must be said"

The 84-year-old Grass said he had been prompted to put pen to paper by Berlin's recent decision to sell Israel a submarine able to "send all-destroying warheads where the existence of a single nuclear bomb is unproven."

"The nuclear power Israel is endangering the already fragile world peace," he wrote. His poem specifically criticized Israel's "claim to the right of a first strike" against Iran.

In Defense of Helen Thomas: What’s Wrong With History?

Helen Thomas’s recent request to purchase a table at the upcoming White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) annual dinner has been rejected.

In a comment on that story I said, “It’s hard to imagine anything more wrong than this.”

I base my opinion on the fact that the 91-year-old Thomas, a former WHCA president, is unique among American journalists, having covered 10 different presidential administrations in a career stretching back to Dwight Eisenhower.

It is because of Thomas as much as anyone else that women were first included at the WHCA dinner since, as the WHCA’s website mentions:
