TV: Radioactive material reportedly now being released from massive gas blowout in LA — Byproduct of Uranium

it’s not just methane coming out of that hole… This is global crisis, more importantly this is a local crisis. Because not only do you have methane — you have benzene, toluene, xylene, which are carcinogenic. You have hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide — which are neurotoxic, which can injure your brain, affect memory, injure your kidneys, your liver, your other bodily organs. There’s also a lot of radon gas being measured in the area.

Santa Susana Field Laboratory

The Hot Lab suffered a number of fires involving radioactive materials. For example, in 1957, a fire in the Hot Cell "got out of control and ... massive contamination" resulted. (see: NAA-SR-1941, Sodium Graphite Reactor, Quarterly Progress Report, January–March 1957).

Webmaster's Commentary:

Santa Susana Field Laboratory is one of the most highly contaminated areas in the nation, combining toxic chemicals from rocket engines and materials tests to radioactive debris from experimental reactors, including an experimental sodium reactor that partially melted down in 1964 but was kept secret for ten years afterwards!

Despite the obvious danger, the Santa Susana Field Laboratory has never been declared a superfund cleanup site due to industry lobbying and tons of the radioactive and toxic debris released by accidents has never been accounted for, and is assumed to have been percolating down into the ground for decades. Some experts claim, based on a five-year study, that the amount of radiation released over the San Fernando Valley was 459 times that which was released at Three Mile Island.

The reason this is important is because the Santa Susana Field Laboratory is located just ten miles southwest of the Porter Ranch gas leak!

This raises the possibility that the methane being poured into the atmosphere is not only carrying toxic components that have reached the gas strata, but that the carbon in the methane itself may be radioactive!

The Looming Environmental Disaster in Missouri that Nobody is Talking About

What happens when radioactive byproduct from the Manhattan Project comes into contact with an “underground fire” at a landfill? Surprisingly, no one actually knows for sure; but residents of Bridgeton, Missouri, near the West Lake and Bridgeton Landfills — just northwest of the St. Louis International Airport — may find out sooner than they’d like.
And that conundrum isn’t the only issue for the area. Contradicting reports from both the government and the landfill’s responsible parties, radioactive contamination is actively leaching into the surrounding populated area from the West Lake site — and likely has been for the past 42 years.

Nuclear energy always has been, and likely will be for the duration of its existence, the subject of controversy and contention for many; but often the enmity surrounds radioactive waste and its disposal or risks of monumental meltdown catastrophes, as occurred at Chernobyl in 1986 and Fukushima in 2011. Rarely does such contention concern sourcing of uranium for nuclear energy — but it should.

The LA Methane Leak - "Don't Worry, The Air Is Safe To Breathe"

On this edition of DTRH Popeye spends the first hour covering the ongoing, and massive methane leak in the Porter Ranch suburb of Los Angeles California. The leak is so massive there is a no fly zone set at 2000 ft above it, and people are already being moved out of their homes. This is as bad as the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico except it's methane into the air rather than oil into the water. Popeye points out how fast things are happening on the ground in Porter Ranch vs. the ongoing, dragged out situation in St. Louis with the leaking radioactive waste sites like the Westlake Landfill. It goes to show you the power of the nuclear cartel.

Hillary Clinton Touts Overthrow of Gadhafi, but Doesn’t Mention That Clinton Foundation Donors Did Big Business in Tyrant’s Libya

On Saturday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton again justified the 2011 U.S. policy of regime change in Libya, citing, at least in part, the fact that dictator Moammar Gadhafi had killed Americans.

“We have to continue to do what is necessary when someone like Gadhafi, a despot with American blood on his hands, is overturned,” Clinton said during the weekend’s Democratic presidential debate in Manchester, New Hampshire. “But I’ll tell you what would have happened if we had not joined with our European partners and our Arab partners to assist the people in Libya, you would be looking at Syria.”

But early in the administration, Clinton had championed an allegiance with the Libyan regime under Gadhafi, during a time when some of the major U.S. corporations doing business in Libya were also donating heavy sums to the Clinton Foundation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Do not for a moment imagine that this "pay to play" mentality will suddenly leave her consciousness, if she is able to win (or steal) the election; it will simply continue, unabated. For her and Bill Clinton, inhabiting the White House is simply another way to make millions of dollars through her foundation, and the public be damned.

And this is why we have to bring her past behaviour to the unblinking gaze of documented fact, because, if in fact, past is prologue to the future, we can expect massive international interventionism from a second Clinton presidency.

And has anyone out there had the "male attributes" to ask her if the current post-Ghadaffi situation in Libya, which has been rife with civil war since 2011; whose leadership has been badly factionalised and has just this month created a basis for a national unity government, was the outcome she desired when she green-lit Ghadaffi's assassination?!?

And what about the reality that Libya has become a
second home to ISIS?!?

Because if all I have stated here were not the outcomes Clinton desired as Secretary of State, and were simply "unintended consequences" of her policies here, please consider Libya a thoroughly terrifying, but very real, "prequel" to what a Clinton presidency will look like.

California Shuts Down Commercial Crab Season "Indefinitely" Cites "naturally-occurring toxin" but real culprit is Radiation

Just 1 week after this web site broke news of Fukushima radiation in fish & seafood, California officials have cancelled commercial crab season "indefinitely" citing "protection of the public health." Yet in a classic case of "if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull****" California officials have offered the following absurd reason to the public for this action:

Global warming has heated the ocean to the point that a particular algae, Pseudo-Nitzchia, is blooming in great swaths along California's coast. The algae produces a neurotoxin called domoic acid which accumulates in crab and other seafood. If consumed by humans the neurotoxin can cause memory loss, tremors or death.

However, workers in the California Fish and Game Commission have revealed to SuperStation95 that the real reason for cancelling this $60 million per year commercial seafood season is: Radiation contamination of seafood from the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan.

Massive Fukushima radiation cover-up as government-funded scientists now claim radiation won't hurt you

The alarming findings that levels of Fukushima radiation off the North American coast are higher now than they have ever been, is being spun by the press as an issue of no concern.

In March 2011, Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant suffered multiple meltdowns following a massive earthquake and tsunami. The exploding reactors sprayed massive amounts of radioactive material into the air, most of which settled into the Pacific Ocean. Since then, more radioactive material has continued to pour from the coastal plant into the ocean.

In a study presented at the conference of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco on Dec. 14, researchers found that radiation levels from Alaska to California have increased since samples were last taken. The highest levels yet of radiation from the disaster were found in a sample taken 2,500 kilometers (approx. 1,550 miles) west of San Francisco.

Sharp increase in radiation… at Fukushima” — Levels spike 400,000% under plant — Almost 1,000,000,000 becquerels per cubic meter — TV: Officials investigating cause

Radiation spikes in Fukushima underground ducts — The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant says levels of radioactivity in underground tunnels have sharply risen. Tokyo Electric Power Company has detected 482,000 becquerels per liter of radioactive cesium in water samples taken from the tunnels on December 3rd. That’s 4000 times higher than data taken in December last year. The samples also contained 500,000 becquerels of a beta-ray-emitting substance, up 4,100 times from the same period… They plan to investigate what caused the spike in radiation.

The same year, we reported in 2011 that the U.S. knew within days of the Fukushima accident that Fukushima had melted down … but failed to tell the public.

We noted in 2012:

The fuel pools and rods at Fukushima appear to have “boiled”, caught fire and/or exploded soon after the earthquake knocked out power systems. See this, this, this, this and this.
Now, a declassified report written by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on March 18, 2011 – one week after the tidal wave hit Fukushima – states:

The source term provided to NARAC was: (1) 25% of the total fuel in unit 2 released to the atmosphere, (2) 50% of the total spent fuel from unit 3 was released to the atmosphere, and (3) 100% of the total spent fuel was released to the atmosphere from unit 4.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, the US government knew, 4 years ago, that Fukushima was a complete melt-down; but decided to attempt to keep the information from the American public; how horrifically typical this behaviour is for this for this administration.

And as we learned today from rense.com:

Dec 9, 2015: Radiation spikes in Fukushima underground ducts — The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant says levels of radioactivity in underground tunnels have sharply risen. Rossiya Segodnya (Russian gov’t news agency) – Sputnik: Red Alert! Radiation Spike Registered Under Fukushima Nuclear Plant — A sharp increase in radiation levels was detected in one of the underground tunnels at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, according to media reports. According to a press release issued by TEPCO, Fukushima plant’s operator, the water samples retrieved from the tunnels on December 3rd contained 482,000 becquerels per liter of radioactive cesium and about 500,000 of beta-ray-emitting substance becquerels per liter of a beta-ray-emitting substance, which is about 4,000-4,100 times higher compared to the samples taken a year ago, Japanese NHK TV channel reports.

The Taboo of Radiation Exposure in Japan: The Social Effects of Fukushima

By Erin O’Flaherty

It is understood that radiation is physically harmful to those who are exposed to it. However, it is also harmful on a social level. Those who become exposed to radiation form a new class within society, one that is discriminated against and even feared by many ordinary people. This has certainly been the case with the Fukushima nuclear incident. This discrimination is worsened by the government and mainstream media’s treatment of the incident. This essay will discuss the social effects of the Fukushima incident by comparing it with the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It will also explain how the media play into this discrimination and attempt to understand why Japanese society is reacting in such a way...

West Lake Landfill Fire Close to Nuclear Waste: Radiation Danger?

There’s now even more attention focused on the fire, as the Bridgeton Landfill fire is currently only 1,000 feet away from West Lake Landfill site, OU-1 – a site that could contain radioactive waste dumped illegally in the past.

Newly-Completed Fukushima 'Containment' Wall Already "Slightly Leaning"

Just weeks after re-starting the building of a giant ice-wall to contain groundwater leaking from the Fukushima nuclear plant, TEPCO has been forced to admit that a 780-meter protective wall built alongside the crippled power station (completed only last month and designed to prevent contaminated groundwater from seeping into the sea) is already "slightly leaning." While this sounds a lot like being half-pregnant, TEPCO remains 'optimistic' that the wall will hold. But you can't say the government is not trying - in an effort to 'calm' the public, scientists have developed a special scanner to accurately measure the amount of radioactive material inside the bodies of young children... which is odd given just how "contained" Abe said it was.

On this video you will see some very large explosions. I have no doubt we are seeing small 1-10 kiloton surface and subsurface bursts. In a new report published by Fairewinds Energy Education (FEE), “Cancer on the Rise in Post-Fukushima Japan,” we learn that that the ongoing multi-core nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi plant has produced approximately 230 times higher-than-normal thyroid cancers in Fukushima Prefecture, and could result in as many as one million more cancers due to the incident that happened in March of 2011.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Canadian researcher targeted by hate campaign over Fukushima findings

Jay Cullen never expected the world of hate he encountered when he began to post scientific information about the impact of the Fukushima accident on the Pacific Ocean.

Criticism was anticipated – but then he started getting death threats.

After the Japanese nuclear reactor melted down in 2011, following an earthquake and tsunami, fears arose that radiation would pollute the Pacific and spread to Canada’s West Coast.

To address those concerns, which didn’t go away even after ocean scientists reported relatively low levels, Dr. Cullen started a radionuclide-monitoring program in 2014.

“Radiation is Good for You!” and Other Tall Tales of the Nuclear Industry

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is considering a move to eliminate the “Linear No-Threshold” (LNT) basis of radiation protection that the U.S. has used for decades and replace it with the “radiation hormesis” theory—which holds that low doses of radioactivity are good for people.

The change is being pushed by “a group of pro-nuclear fanatics—there is really no other way to describe them,” charges the Nuclear Information and Resource Service (NIRS) based near Washington, D.C.

“If implemented, the hormesis model would result in needless death and misery,” says Michael Mariotte, NIRS president.

The Many Marvels of the Mysterious Mushroom

Until 1969, biologists thought mushrooms and other fungi were plants. They’re actually more closely related to animals, but with enough differences that they inhabit their own distinct classification.

This and more recent findings about these mysterious organisms illustrate how much we have yet to learn about the complexities of the natural world. New research reveals mushrooms can even help plants communicate, share nutrients, and defend themselves against disease and pests.

Fukushima clean-up is impossible with current technology; decontamination efforts could take 200 years

The head of Japan's crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant has admitted in an interview with the Times of London that the technology does not yet exist that would allow the decommissioning of the three remaining melted-down reactors. He has no idea when such technology might be available, and he said it could take as long as 200 years.

The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) has set a goal of 40 years (i.e., by 2051) to clean up the plant following the 2011 meltdowns, which were triggered by a massive earthquake and tsunami.

Radioactive Waste, The Wigner Effect & Fukushima

On this edition of DTRH Popeye breaks down, in an easy to understand manner, the reality of our current nuclear problems. In the first hour he covers in detail: The ongoing problems of nuclear waste storage; What nuclear waste actually consists of, and The Wigner Effect. In hour number two he is joined by special guest co-host Christina Consolo aka RadChick. Christina covers Wigner a little more in depth, and then her and Popeye delve into the current situation with the ongoing nuclear clusterf**k that is the Fukushima Daiichi Nuke Facility. One of the most dire problems at the moment is the massive amounts of radioactive groundwater now seeping up into the plant and the surrounding land, which they cover in depth. In the last section of the show the two of them offer hope with solutions for what seems to be a no win situation. Make sure to take the time to hear this important broadcast, and share it as much as you can.

For the First Time, Japan Finally Admits Fukushima Radiation Caused a Former Worker’s Cancer

Despite the fact that Fukushima children are showing 50 times the normal rates of thyroid cancer, and other former employees who have come down with, in some cases, multiple types of cancer are suing TEPCO for damages in relation to the 2011 disaster, up until now neither TEPCO, nor the Japanese government have officially admitted that radiation released from the destroyed Fukushima Daiichi nuclear reactor could be responsible.

Well now Japan has officially acknowledged for the first time that a case of leukemia in one of the plant’s former workers “meets the conditions” to be recognized as caused by Fukushima radiation, according to a Japanese Ministry of Health official at a recent press conference.

This is a big deal. The Japanese government didn’t even admit this possibility when Masao Yoshida, the director of the plant at the time of the accident until six months after the fact, later died of cancer.

Officials squabble as underground fire burns near radioactive waste dump in St. Louis area

A fire is smoldering beneath a landfill in a densely populated suburb of St. Louis — and it has been there for five years.

Underground landfill fires, or "smoldering events" as some officials call them, aren't rare. What makes the fire at the landfill in Bridgeton, Mo., so unusual is that it's less than a quarter of a mile from a large deposit of nuclear waste — with no barrier in its way.

The radioactive legacy of St. Louis' role in the World War II atomic weapons program has unleashed Cold War-style nuclear paranoia in the area, as some residents debate what kind of gas masks to buy or whether to move away.

Underground fire 300 meters from nuclear waste causes St. Louis to hatch contingency plan

Beneath the surface of a St. Louis-area landfill lurk two things that should never meet: a slow-burning fire and a cache of Cold War-era nuclear waste, separated by just 300 meters.

Government officials have quietly adopted an emergency plan in case the smoldering embers ever reach the waste, a potentially “catastrophic event” that could send up a plume of radioactive smoke over a densely populated area near the city’s main airport.

Although the fire at Bridgeton Landfill has been burning since at least 2010, the plan for a worst-case scenario was developed only a year ago and never publicized until this week, when St. Louis radio station KMOX first obtained a copy.

Fukushima Radiation in Pacific Reaches West Coast

The amount of cesium in seawater that Buesseler’s researchers found off Vancouver Island is nearly six times the concentration recorded since cesium was first introduced into the oceans by nuclear bomb tests (halted in 1963). This stunning increase in Pacific cesium shows an ongoing increase. The International Business Times (IBT) reported last Nov. 12 that Dr. Buesseler found the amount of cesium-134 in the same waters was then about twice the concentration left in long-standing bomb test remains.

Children Who Live Near Fukushima Have Alarming Cancer Rates

A new study says children living near the Fukushima nuclear meltdowns have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer at a rate 20 to 50 times that of children elsewhere, a difference the authors contend undermines the government's position that more cases have been discovered in the area only because of stringent monitoring.

Most of the 370,000 children in Fukushima prefecture (state) have been given ultrasound checkups since the March 2011 meltdowns at the tsunami-ravaged Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant. The most recent statistics, released in August, show that thyroid cancer is suspected or confirmed in 137 of those children, a number that rose by 25 from a year earlier. Elsewhere, the disease occurs in only about one or two of every million children per year by some estimates.

"This is more than expected and emerging faster than expected," lead author Toshihide Tsuda told The Associated Press during a visit to Tokyo. "This is 20 times to 50 times what would be normally expected."

High radiation level recorded in Chernobyl-contaminated area in central Russia

Authorities have recorded high background radiation levels in central Russia’s Tula region, bordering the Moscow region and part of the contaminated area after the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Ukraine. Tula Region Governor Vladimir Gruzdev said a study carried out in more than 1,300 settlements of the so-called "Chernobyl zone" has found that "the level of contamination in 20 settlements is higher than expected." The Tula region was contaminated to the most extent among the Russian regions following the nuclear disaster. Experts say some 56% of the territory was affected in the region, which is home to more than 640,000 people. The zone adjacent to the Chernobyl NPP had been hit by peat bog fires during the whole summer. A total of 136 fire outbreaks were recorded on the area of 115 hectares. In June, the blaze approached the NPP and the background radiation level sharply increased.

Radiation Impact Studies: Chernobyl and Fukushima

Some nuclear advocates suggest that wildlife thrives in the highly-radioactive Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, animals like it, and not only that, a little radiation for anybody and everybody is harmless and maybe good, not bad. This may seem like a senseless argument to tackle were it not for the persistence of positive-plus commentary by nuke lovers. The public domain deserves better, more studied, more crucial answers.

Fortunately, as well as unfortunately, the world has two major real life archetypes of radiation’s impact on the ecosystem: Chernobyl and Fukushima. Chernobyl is a sealed-off 30klm restricted zone for the past 30 years because of high radiation levels, whereas PM Abe’s government in Japan has already started returning people to formerly restricted zones surrounding the ongoing Fukushima nuclear melt-down.

Former Fukushima Worker Who Got Cancer Is Suing TEPCO

In a first, a former worker at the Fukushima Daiichi No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant has filed a lawsuit against the majority-Japanese-government-owned Tokyo Electric Power Company for cancer he says he developed after exposure to radiation from the March 2011 disaster.

Via The Japan Times:

According to his complaint, cancer was detected in his bladder in June 2012, in his stomach in March 2013 and in his sigmoid colon in May 2013 after he worked as a heavy equipment operator at Fukushima No. 1 between July and October 2011.

It would be the first time someone has officially, directly linked the Fukushima incident to cancer, so authorities are probably going to want to discredit him and make this one go away as fast as possible.

In fact, the man tried to file for workers compensation, but he was denied.
